  • It’s already fair. Or rather, as fair as it can possibly be without the rules and gameplay getting convoluted.

Had someone dc then try to mock me for not killing them. Bro I see your corpse.

That’s always the funniest. Disconnecting only makes your job easier plus you get a quitter bonus out of it. Unless you’re working specifically towards a trophy or challenge like 4 kills by your own hand, does anybody really get that mad about it? I sure don’t. It ######### your teammates over more.

Blendettes are ALWAYS full of themselves. They're almost always green rank players too (the worst rank division).

He was at level 4. All the others were greens. He was clearly going to be the most pain in the ass which is why I didn’t chase him all that much. Laurie Strode was obviously trying to play distraction running that perk but she wasn’t very good at it. But I saw early on that Blendette was going to be the real distraction. He could’ve earned a ton just by the amount of escapes and hook saves I let him have. As I said, what a waste of time for him. Oh well.

  • I’ve personally cleansed 4 totems in rounds before but there is always one that eludes me. It would help if others look for them but a lot of times it feels like I’m the only one.

  • True, true. Most quitters I don’t bother with, but ones that quit literally the second before the end of the match always make me laugh. Guess I had to rub it in a little. The next round i had another 4k because one quit first down midway through. Didn’t say a thing to him.

I didn’t make him disconnect though. He did that all by himself. I’ve had ######### down me as the last guy before and let me bleed out while they stand above me for three minutes hitting me. I don’t message them back or quit, I just go get a drink.

  • Camping a hook: legit tactic. Camping a house: bannable offense. Makes complete sense to me.

  • It doesn’t make any sense to me either. It isn’t holding the game hostage in any way other than “maybe” not allowing people to complete their stupid rift challenges in some manner. I’ve definitely witnessed far worse things that have never resulted in a ban.

  • I’m just going to prestige 1 character (Ash) just for the trophies and out of all of the characters he is the one where being covered in blood is entirely appropriate. Otherwise I see little point in starting all of them over from scratch.

  • I had a game with just one flashlight and he kept blinding me, 8 times at least. I kept thinking that it would run out soon. It NEVER did. I got a 4K at the end and he said GG to me afterward and we had a short friendly conversation. He said he only had a yellow flashlight with a yellow battery. I didn’t begrudge him because I have to admire someone that can play that well, but still, no way should a single flashlight give a person nearly unlimited godlike ability to take a killer down. Repeatedly. It’s ridiculous.

  • The hatch challenge sucks. The pallet challenge sucks too. Fortunately I bypassed them both and have already achieved tier 70 so now I don’t have to do either one.

  • Hooks aren’t a waste of time. Hooks are the entire point of the killer. The more hooks to please the entity, the better your score. Killing is a secondary activity, and killing everyone on first hook may be technically a “win”, but it ain’t going to give you much in return. You can please the entity with no kills if you have a lot of hooks and you can displease it with a quick 4K. There’s no point in slowing down gens if you’re not going to try to hook, too. You’re only delaying your inevitable loss.

  • That’s not holding the game hostage. What is holding the game hostage is what happened to me last night. It was down to me an one other person and the other person got sick of being tunneled and went AFK, just standing in place in the front door of the saloon until crows appeared. The Freddy wouldn’t kill her and kept looking for me. I kept out of sight jumping from locker to locker looking for the hatch. I found it but Freddy refused to kill the other player. Eventually he stumbled upon me and I went down with one hit. But then he wouldn’t hook me either. He kept dropping me until I stood up. At that point I went AFK too because I wouldn’t play his bullshit game. Then the other player started moving around and started fixing a generator. Freddy knocked me down, dragged me over to the gen and kept dropping me until I stood at which point I ran away. He quickly knocked me down again. This game went on for 30 minutes at least until he got bored and finally hooked me. I might have considered disconnecting if I wasn’t sure that that’s what he wanted me to do, and I was very determined not to give him anything he wanted and to be able to report him at the end of the match (which I did).

The only thing that could make it better is showing a hatch even after being closed, so you can open it with a key. Great for easy hatch escape challenges.

It does. It’s what allowed me to complete the escape with a key 2 times challenge. I’d wait for the killer to close it, then I’d use Left Behind to locate it.

  • It is a tasty beverage. So, yes.

  • Over all I think that it’s a lousy perk to run on the Doctor, who relies upon his terror radius to find people with static blast. It’s better used with other killers, and instead using other perks and add-ons to extend the blast radius as far as possible and only use shock therapy in chases. Just my personal preference and I’ve been cleaning up with 3 and 4Ks lately this way. Decreasing terror radius on the Doctor is better for stealth but it’s a serious detriment to his special abilities.

Nope. Its braindead easy to get red ranks as a survivor. Play however, as long as you live so long and maybe get out.

As a killer, you have to play to their emblem system every game. Mori all 4? No red rank pip. Kill too fast or have people give up on first/second hook? No red rank pip. Have 2 escapes and gens done faster than you can handle? No red rank pip. Get the very elusive 4 man hit squad? Definitely no red rank pip.

It is CONSIDERABLY easier to get red ranks as a survivor than it is killer. So, more times than the opposite, survivors casually get to red ranks without even really trying, and end up facing lower rank killers (12-7) who may technically be a higher skill than their "rank", but due to the fact they're SO good that they cant get emblems, they cant rank up.

Or they're actually that rank, deserve to be, and the suurvivors are a higher rank than they are supposed to be. Leading them to believe that the killers are just in a better spot. That the game is killer sided.

But true red rank survivors who play well, have the edge over true red rank killers.

Everything that you have just posted only verifies my original post that rank 11 killers can steamroll lower ranks. I think that my ultimate point that ranks are meaningless kind of got lost on you. Maybe the red rank survivor should be green. Maybe the green rank killer should be red. It DOES go both ways.

(And just because a low rank survivor dies it doesn’t mean that they don’t deserve that rank. Even the best players die on occasion.)

Not face camping.. Proxy camping. 4 Matches in a row, they've literally just sat within hook radius hiding and waiting for someone to come up just to spear them before they have a chance to unhook. Even had one use noed and hide near the basement of Gideon's waiting for people to run down and make a save.

Well, he is a new killer. Maybe instead of trying to win matches from the get go a lot of people are using hooks for target practice?

  • I had a jerk disconnect on first hook this morning right as I was running to save him, nearly ruining my chance at passing the four save challenge, as he was to be my fourth. Fortunately I got another one that round but man that really pissed me off good. It took too many attempts to pass that test after dealing with a pig only reverse bear trapping people and not hooking, and a Leatherface camping the basement hooks using Insidious. And then to have THAT happen? Rubbish.

  • @Kenidur said:

this new killer is promoting one of the more annoying play styles, slugging. I got into test and was enjoying it at first, Killer was learning how to play, we were learning how to counter him.

Couple days in, game is still enjoyable, with a slug match about 1 in 10. The other 9, killer had Ruin, BBQ, gotten better, and yes, was killing us, or we were surviving and getting out. but either way, we all were enjoying it (FYI his mori is disgustingly beautiful.)

Today, 8 games run, 6 sluggers, 1 Tunneler.... most common reason given by the killer for slugging, "If I pick someone up, my power is depleted entirely!" 1st off, it isn't, you keep about 15 to 25%. 2nd, You can gain back the power very quickly, especially if you've hit players already, 3rd, this exact same excuse can be applied to Myers, Ghostface, and several other killers, yet you won't see it that much in them.

of those 6 games, 24 survivors in total, about 14 disco'd, myself included on 3. the other 2, one hoped for a lucky hatch, Others just went AFK and waited until it was over. So how is this fun for the survivors? If this is how the game is going to be, If you're going to continue rewarding killers for this play style which gives nothing to the survivors, then why continue to play?

One of the latest challenges is to knock people down. In order to win that challenge I preferred to slug people to allow others to heal rather than hook them early on because I was afraid of people choosing to disconnect on first hook, which only would have made the challenge harder. But I still did it a couple of times later on. Everybody survived and I passed the challenge. (I’m sure they all thought I was a bad killer but up until then I had been gotten 3Ks minimum in my previous 5 matches.)

They're against character specific survivor buffs because it skews diversity towards one or two characters who have the strongest traits. It's like the Blendette issue. At that point you're picking classes instead of characters.

I’m not talking about a buff. Every character has the potential to gain any tier 3 purple perk they want, but only if the original survivor has it first. THAT is what I would have liked to have seen happen.

  • @Thrax said:

The character whose perk it is should get a better version of it than is otherwise available. It their special thing others shouldn't be able to be as good at it.

Exactly! If these are teachable, then nobody should be able to “out-teach the teacher”!

The perk tier a person gains should be contingent upon the max tier the originating survivor has. If they still have a green perk then none of the others should be finding a purple in their bloodweb.

Usually because those survivors shouldn't be there to begin with.

Or maybe it could be the other way around?

  • I don’t restrict to one build, but there are also a few perks that I flat out don’t want in even ONE build, nevermind all of them. And I don’t think that there should ever be a case where a character has a better version of a perk than the original character that it is derived from.

  • ...when you hide behind trees or in bushes and think that Jason can’t see you in Friday the 13th!

  • I’ve been getting annoyed this week at how so many people are just flat out refusing to heal me when I’m wounded. Not everybody, but there has been an uptick. Take me off the hook and then just run away and not stop as I continue to follow them. Or I come across another guy and they can’t be bothered. They’re on a “mission”. Like, #########???

  • @OperationMintyHippo said:

Well I mean they are rank 4 and you're rank 14 so clearly they deserved to beat you because that's what rank means.

People always complain about how survivors have the edge over the killer, but I routinely see Rank 11 killers roll over groups of survivors several ranks lower.

  • Nice pun!

Overall, though, in play he would run faster than other characters, but slower on repairs, or twice as many skill check unless he was with someone with a leadership perk, in which case his repair skills would be normal.

  • According to his son they’re not even really sick.

You guys should check this out. 2:55 minutes for 5 gens, no toolboxes.

Well, yeah, but I have a hard time empathizing when the killer clearly didn’t know what he was doing. His strategy was non existent.

  • I didn’t even try. Well, I think I gave it one try. I decided instead to go the other route down to bypass it. The killer challenges are cake in comparison. (Even the worst killer can manage to chase people for 5 minutes!) I’ve also never been particularly good at pallet stuns, it’s a definite weakness of mine, and I’m not going to be any better knowing that killers are going to be doubly on guard for pallets stuns because of this challenge. And yes, to this day I have yet to complete the 4 pallet challenge from last Tome.

  • I’m fine on my end, but I’ve only played one game this morning and 2 this afternoon. Maybe I would have had problems if I played longer?

  • Sometimes I feel antisocial and don’t want to take a chance on invites, so I change my setting to appear offline. I’m on PS4 so if you’re on some other platform then look for something similar.

And yes, the offline option makes you invisible to all others. It won’t even tell others the trophies that you earned during that time.

  • I had another opportunity to play this map as a Doctor today and still think this is a very large map with gens difficult to patrol and control. And omg the pallets! Pallets upon pallets upon pallets! Somehow I managed a 4/4 sacrifice, but pretty much only because the group decided to be overly altruistic. I saw one guy open the gate and chased him beyond it, but didn’t actually see him exit because I saw another guy going for a hook save. I downed the hooked person immediately and then downed the other one shortly after. The one that I thought escaped came back for a rescue attempt so I got him, too. Didn’t even need a NOED because they were all running around wounded, silly rabbits.

In both times that I played these maps I had completely forgotten about breakable walls. I don’t even know how to recognize them on sight yet, but if I did it would have undoubtedly helped on a couple of loops I had trouble with.

  • I actually thought the map was on the large side because the gates were too far apart to patrol. I closed the hatch which was close to one gate and by the time I reached the other I was too late.

  • I haven’t read most of the comments on this site lately because it all just seems like a bunch of griping to me. I don’t have a problem with the game overall but I will say that I am a bit burned out by the grind of the rift, which I feel obligated to complete because I paid for the rift pass. I’m on tier 65 so only 5 left to go. After that I think I’m going to enjoy the weather, or get Coronavirus, or something once I get to 70 and won’t be completing all of the challenges of level 4. The path of least resistance seems to be through the killer challenges this time. I’m already halfway through the close two hatches challenge (closed three in a row, 2 during the last challenge of chasing for 300 seconds). The last challenge is get 100,000? It’s grindy, but totally cake. Honestly was expecting harder tasks this level but I’m glad because it means that I’m that much closer to taking a rest from dbd.

  • Played 2 games as the Doctor, got 4/4 kills in one and 3/4 kills in the other, mainly because the gates on the new map are way too far apart. The hatch I closed was close to one gate and by the time I got to the other she opened it. I could tell from a huge distance away that I was never going to make it in time.

All in all, if anything the new Doctor is a buff, but I didn’t notice a difference in play.

  • Just played two games as The Doctor. Played the new map and got a 3/4 sacrifices. Then played The Game map and got 4/4. I like the new map, but the reason why I only got 3/4 is because the exit gates are way too far apart. It’s a big map. They should be close enough so that the survivors should only have enough time to complete 75% opening it if the killer is at the opposite gate, necessitating them to do part of it, hide, then complete it when the killer goes back to the other gate. I could see a meg at the gate from wayyy far away and I knew I wouldn’t get there in time.

  • Another tip related to #5, if you are the obsession, then watch out for rancor. I’ve been killed at the finish line because such a thing happening didn’t even occur to me so I stuck around. Gotta admit that I laughed about that one!

  • I only bought the rift pass when I tiered up enough to earn the auric cells needed to buy Ash (which I was planning to buy anyways). And now I earned another 500 cells to buy Ghostface (who I was also going to buy anyways). It was well worth the money but man am I burned out from the grind. I have only about 6 or 7 tiers left to 70, so I don’t even have to complete every challenge like I did the last 3 levels to get my money’s worth. I’m ready for a break.

  • I completed it but it was ages ago so I’m not completely certain how it went down. I don’t swf so if I had to guess it was one of those rounds where the other three players were too busy trying to save each off of hooks and I was the only one actively working to escape.

  • @FilledPizza said:

Run Left Behind, wait for your team to die. Drop your key somewhere you can safely go back to, pick it up, and head to the hatch once the gates are powered.

Also be sure to be hiding in a closet when the last player is hooked to avoid BBQ. The only danger is if they are running Iron Maiden or the Legion perk that senses you in a closet. If you can, move from closet to closet regularly to avoid crows. Wait for the killer to find the hatch first and then hopefully he’ll go patrol the gates and leave it alone.

But it’s been a few weeks since I completed the challenge in the interim this strategy is probably well known among killers so beware.

  • This is one of those challenges that aren’t really challenges. You pretty much have to be AFK not to earn it.

  • My skillset isn’t to be a distraction. My skillset is flying under the radar and getting things DONE.

It is damn near impossible not to rank up. I can casually play something with no intent to win, and I either lose no pips or I gain +1. +2 if the survivors are clearly solo.

Damn straight. I can’t wait until the 13th because right now I am rank 5. And let me tell you, there ain’t no way that i deserve a rank higher than 10!

  • Nobody needs a 5th perk spot. If survivors get a 5th then the killer gets a 5th. Ultimately, nothing really changes it just gets more convoluted, and with your method veterans would have an even more massive advantage over noobs than they already have. I would think that it would actively deter newcomers from playing more. I’ve been playing for 6 months now and I’m still only devotion 1 after making this game my primary focus over others. Devotion 3 is at least a year away for me and that’s only if I continue at the rate I’m already slogging away!

  • And this only seems to happen in dbd for me. Its never happened in another game near as I can tell.

  • You could always target the person with the key first if it really bothers you that much. No matter what you do there is always the possibility that one will be found in a chest so I don’t worry about it. Also there’s no guarantee that they will find the hatch before they die. Other than that, what others have already told you is probably about it.

  • Or how about Jack Torrance? He could have a shining power kind of like the Doctor, where the more he chases you the more you see ghosts like his wife did in the Overlook.

  • I’m having fun. Guess I’m the odd man out.

And honestly I don’t blame the devs for not listening to the complaints, because as near as I can tell, pick a game, there are ALWAYS a loud subset of complainers. Some complaining to be sure, is entirely warranted. But then there are others ( a LOT of others) that feel entitled to change every single rule into their favor. Nothing is ever “fair” to them unless they win. If you can’t please everybody all of the time then it stands to reason to ignore the people that you can’t please NONE of the time.
