What an unfortunate picture for this guy here. I guess he lived Hell on Earth for the rest of his 48 hour life.

Edit: The remaining 48 hours, should I say instead.

I'm currently in the 8-10 rank range as a survivor. I'm generally okay with camping, and consider it a valid strategy (I've defended it plenty of times here). However, for some reason since the DLC dropped the amount of camping I encounter seems to have exploded. It even occurs in situations where it makes no sense whatsoever - last night I actually played against a Hag running MYC who camped every single hook she got. I don't mind it occasionally, but running into it constantly is very, very tiring.

You were dealing with "not the sharpest tool in the shed" certainly. So what, move on to the next game. The equivalent of encountering the clicky clicky teabagging DS looper types constantly. So what, move on to the next game. They will not penalize any of those, ever.

Or are you actually meme-ing and saying hag traps are counted as camping? (joking)

  • By the same criteria, only an insignificant minority (rough guess) enjoy playing as Freddy, so why is he even in the game? Or why would they be working on buffs for him? Even if he had the same fanbase as the other killers, it's only 1/13th of a priority (it does show), but at least they're working on it.

  • @jwentzel987 said:

I play as killer  but never seem to have an issue where it's "normal" to camp.

That's what I thought when I didn't understand why was it "normal" for survivors to run around in circles like in the old timey cartoons. The answer is, I hadn't played neither enough time as a survivor, nor at a high enough rank to get the grasp of it. Once I did, I was enlightened. For survivors to survive, they may need to loop. For killers to kill, they may need to camp.

Edit: They both ubersuck. But it's the core mechanics of the game that allow it / encourage it.

  • @AgentTalon said:
I know I'm newer to the game but since joining the forum I feel like I only want to camp now. Survivor mains really seem upset that they can get caught by the killer and not get a free unhook. Did I miss a memo where getting a guaranteed kill by patrolling the area to keep survivors from unhooking, and maybe getting another hook isn't allowed?

I've actually gotten hate mail for shouldering a survivor who was attempting a rescue. Am I supposed to watch, if I was why is that mechanic in the game!?

Yeah, you missed the "100 made up rules of chivalrious gameplay, in a game about killing each other"

  • They should start penalizing for doing gens while killers carry downed survivors :p

  • Just play killer some time and do 2 things while you're at it: understand the root of the problem, and lead by example. If you're not willing to do that, feel free to keep complaining against the very core of the mechanics of the game.

Hundreds of threads already talking about this. SMH. The equivalent of complaining about survivors running in circles or "gen rushing". Work around it.

  • @DocOctober said:

You ask for something to be fixed that only affects a rather small minority. The devs have an exhausting list of things that need fixing or improving which are much more important than the issue of colourblindness, especially if there are workarounds available like nvidia freestyle to help you guys out in the meantime.

The game is advancing loads, just not in the departments you'd like it to, sucks, but you've got to deal with it. Colourblind-support is very low on their list of priorities.

First of all some of us are playing in console, so there aren't any workarounds. And most importantly, we're not asking for a complete recoding of the game, instead asking for really simple stuff like this:

    * gen auras were a different color before the Clown/Kate patch, a whiteish (or whatever) aura that was visible on most maps without too much trouble for us. Why did they have to turn gen auras dark red in the first place?? So it is harder to spot survivors with BBQ?? Wouldn't doubt it. Simple solution: revert gen aura color and make survivors auras the same color. It's obvious this is a simple change because they already have different colors coded for auras, like the ones displayed when using Bond or while being hooked, the one when you stalk with Myers, the one when the killer is near the hook/kindred, the one from Alert, Object of obsession, etc.

    * hook aura colors: same as above, dark red. Why is it so simple to have blue hook auras (or whatever the color is) during the events, and not as a permanent option?? They even switch the color from blue to red once you've hooked someone there, in the middle of the game!! Does this require a huge amount of resources?? Obviously it does not. Give us the option to choose hook aura colors! I'm not asking them to recode the Red forest or Haddonfield map colors, just the option to choose the auras.

    * Dying and hooked teammates: Dark red. It's difficult enough to heal/save them knowing where they are. Just turn them pink, or green, or white, or blue, because we colorblind survivors DON'T know where they are hooked or crawling.

With the truckloads of money the studio is getting from cosmetics, I would expect that making their game more accessible to roughly 10% of male population translates into potentially 10% MORE MONEY for them. So this is not only a simple QOL improvement for US. It's also a business decision that will potentially improve THEIR QORL, quality of real life.

Thanks for reading, and excuse me if grammar is not perfect. English is my second language.

It may have been rewriting the back end of the program. They also said we would begin to get minor console patches to help with optimization. Maybe this is a first of many.

Oh that's good news, I hope they're shadow working on FPS issues.

Read the OP text, interesting, started reading the answers... not that much interesting...
    For the OP
    I'm rank 1 killer Main.
Totally agree that rank 1 is harder and (to me) it really count.
But i have to say, sometime (more than sometime) you find players who don't really seem to have rank 1 skill...
I just finished a rotation of all killers at rank 1 with no perks and no addons, and i menaged to have at least safe pip and 1k or even 4k (never 2 pip)
The fact is, aside for the "fact that i am rank 1" there is not much purpose to be there, wich mean it automatically became easyer to reach that rank.
Devs should make it more rewardin to be at rank 1.
I already gave some example in other topics:

-Killer and survivors at rank 1-4 get x% bonus to bp or even shards
-Killer and survivors at rank 1-4 get a particular effect on theyr character (glowing survivors eyes, dark killer aura, or a skin that can be used exclusively at that rank.
just those 2 things alone will boost the competition and give top rank a new meaning.
The key is to lock an interesting feature behind that rank.

    > And the next step is to make rank personal to each killer, i cant understand how is it possible that they admit "not all killer are good a top rank" but the rank is generalized for all killers, so if you are top rank with one of them, well you have to go top rank with all of them... that make no sense.

I think this last point you mentioned is a great idea I would completely support. I think we all agree on different survivors being just skins (aside from a slight advantage at stealth for some of them), but killers have such different playstyles that they should definitely be ranked individually.

This would also give you the chance to learn a new killer without getting absolutely destroyed in the red ranks if you already made it there. And IMO, of course there's a big difference in the quality of gameplay displayed there 80% of the time, from both sides of the ball.

  • Does anybody actually know what the patch is supposed to fix? For some reason I can't find any information on it, neither in this site or in the game itself.

Edit: I was unable to start the game for some minutes after patching, but now it's working fine.

I really hope a change can be achieved, and I think it may come sooner or later. Thanks again to all of you who used the opportunity given by the recent survey to ask for colorblind mode instead of whatever else you may have had in mind. You guys are almost as cool as this guy

  • @ShrimpTwiggs said:

True, but I'm kinda competitive so I'd like to practice without sacrificing rank. And it probably wouldn't be fun for the survivors I go up against to face a killer who's not really trying to win. It's not just about me either. I think having a place where newer players can get the hang of things, try new killers, and new builds would be good for the health of the game. But, as Lowbei said, it's probably not gonna happen any time soon.

Simpler things haven't yet happened, so I'll have to agree on that.

  • @ShrimpTwiggs said:

I don't like the idea of smurfing against lower ranked or new players. It kinda ruins their fun.

I'm taking you're trying to learn nurse, spirit or huntress, since any other killer can be learned at any rank. Just don't kill them, practice your blinks, throws or phase walks, injure them, and proceed to look for another survivor. You don't even need to hook them.

    Edit: grammar correction

  • @ShrimpTwiggs said:
I know there's already a tutorial, but would it be possible to set up a practice mode where new players can play against either an A.I. killer or A.I survivors? Maybe you could choose the difficulty as well. That way, somebody could try out a new killer without having to wait for rank reset or get the hang of new builds as survivor. It could be a nice environment for new players to get the hang of things without jumping right into ranked mode. There's KWF, but that's not always an option if your friends aren't online. You wouldn't gain BPs, level, or shards, but that probably goes without saying. Sorry if this is a stupid idea, but I decided to through it out there. Any thought?

Just create a new smurf account and practice there against new players. Or smurf account survivors...

  • @The_Fallen_Utopia said:

While that sounds interesting it's still camping.. but still sounds somewhat entertaining. I sometimes run Franklin's Demise with it and defend items when there's only 1 survivor left. Usually they'll go back to pick it up before getting the hatch so gives a few extra kills every now and then.

You're actually going for the "killer in map after hooking = camping" meme LMAO. You Sir, are a dropped item camper then. "Defend items"... interesting choice of words.

    BTW I'm joking man

  • @The_Fallen_Utopia said:
Honest question.. is there anyway to use it without camping at the moment?

That depends on counting "pissing survivors off" as a legitimate way to use it. But seriously, if you have BBQ too, you can jumpscare someone 40 meters away from the hook, just by predicting the direction a potential unhooker will come from.

  • Backing up what others have said. Break chases soon if you're not able to land a hit quickly. As Billy for example, I rarely commit to a long chase myself, I focus instead on intercepting guys between gens, defending certain areas of the map if needed or applying pressure over 2 - 3 gens at a time, injuring several survivors, occasionally slugging them as needed, etc.

As a trapper you may as well have to quickly decide which part of the map you want to defend, since his low mobility won't allow to apply pressure to the whole thing (especially on big ones like the swamp, red forest), and probably should spend the first part of the match trapping key locations around those 3 - 4 gens you'll defend. If you commit to chasing too early in the game, your power (trapping) will not be used at all, and you're relegated to be a man with a machete, and will certainly lose the match against skilled survivors.

Good add-ons are essential for Trapper to be an effective killer against good players. so you may want to farm for those while playing survivor. Also try to optimize your perk setup for the gameplay you're trying to achieve.

  • @TheShowtime7 said:
You killers already got a buff to NOED and healing! What else more do you want?

Every freakin update is nerf survivors and buff killers, Have fun waiting in lobbies forever eventually.

You can have it back, the NOED buff. Or even scratch it from the game. It's a lame perk to run that sucks ass anyways. Such as your beloved DS. And no, I don't think neither you nor me are essential for the game to continue thriving.

  • @fcc2014 said:

The easiest and quickest fix would be DS for obsession only. If 4 run it 3 have a dead perk and the killer benefits minus the 1 DS.

And that would be risky enough for survivors to run it in the first place. Unless they are a 4 man SWF and can actually plan around it.

Y’know, level 7 can be achieved in like an hour, usually less. That is in no way any merit to talk about balance.

Not if you start at 20

Jack is right. You can achieve level 7 in an hour of gameplay. Unless what the OP really meant was RANK 7

  • Did mine yesterday. Too bad I went for break dancing killer emotes instead.

    Or did I?

  • @Lowbei said:

lol the irony. yet another derp survivormain laughed off the forums. so many of them today.

Why are they oblivious about the problem? I'm a killer main and completely acknowledge the ubersuckness of NOED, a perk that shouldn't be there in the first place. And the fact it's getting buffed in this PTB makes me question the direction this stuff is taking.

OP @Nickenzie is taking the time to propose (something few people do) a good idea to change survivors' NOED equivalent. Arguing is not adding anything to it.

As a killer I think your rework idea is a good one. Upvoting this.

ofc it is. anything to give you a iwin button easy win

Excuse me, isn't Decisive Strike exactly that? An easy iescapeforfree button? Hilarious

  • As a killer I think your rework idea is a good one. Upvoting this.

  • The thing is, prior to the Spirit being released, Decisive Strike got buffed (via a juggling nerf). So that's what I find annoying. If they won't nerf DS, at least revert the juggling change. You know, to when you could make them waste their DS dropping or hooking them at the right moment.

  • I should mention that USB sound output is a feature exclusive to the PS4 (console-wise). Xbox One does not support USB sound output. Which console do you play on, @Well_Placed_HexTotem?

  • The Cloud II has 7.1 surround but I don't use it, I think it works better without it. The little USB dongle acts as a DAC amplifier though and it's capable of high volume outputs. (DAC = Digital - analog converter)

  • @Well_Placed_HexTotem said:
Firstly, do you notice that big a difference when using a headset versus not? I remember when Evolve was a thing, I’d watch a streamer on Xbox and he could literally hear a hunters jetpack boost from across the map and know exactly where they were. An amazing advantage. Now I’m not expecting something like that, but survivor footsteps, breathing, are they easier to pinpoint?

    Secondly, and lastly, what are
some good ones? My budget is probably around $80-130 and I’d prefer something I can go and pick up at Walmart or GameStop/Best Buy.

I bought a cheap TB headset last year, didn’t notice much of anything but again, it was cheap, like $30.

    Yes, huge difference.
I have the HyperX Cloud II and it's working great. It's USB powered, so it doesn't affect controller battery life and sound quality is not downgraded.

considering this post is the only i see on the front page with 7 or more pages of people talking and agreeing on one thing makes it big

    Right on

  • I hope they'll address it soon. Finding gens and hooks in the new Yamaoka map is even harder than in Haddonfield or Autohaven.

  • Does anybody know if the devs have said anything about this recently?

  • @Jack11803 said:

D A R N. Wait, what color is my font to you? (That’s a dumb question. But for me it’s bright solid green, which if you can’t see it, you wouldn’t know what it looks like so.... again; stupid question)

It's solid green for me too, in this screen. The problem would arise if you wrote that font against an Autohaven Wreckers map background. Those greenish/brownish tones are a nightmare.

  • @Jack11803 said:
Are the glasses that correct color blindness really expensive or something? Or hard to come by?

USD $300 to $600 for a barely noticeable to zero effect.

  • @Daddy_Doctor said:
I just asked McLean on his stream if he could add colourblind setting for us. He said because the team has grown and they want to make the game the best it can be, they are looking at revisiting ‘things’ that have been in the wish list for a long time. So it’s looking positive :chuffed:

I think that's good news! Thanks for asking him directly. I mentioned him in the first page of the thread but I don't know if he read it.

  • In the meantime you can use a small piece of a post-it. It does work and doesn't damage your screen.

  • Please consider adding colorblind mode. Please take a look at the Wishlist thread created for that purpose. Thanks
