funny, you can do everything right and get rekt by bbq, but its not broken for you.
btw i have been pointed out thet there are millions of counters, not the counters explicit. hiding behind gens for bbq? that means prediction of the perk and time waste, and having a gen near. it means no sneaking to unhook or being around or hiding to get hatchYou can still work on a gen while hiding behind it, it just takes a split second to change your position if you weren't in the right one whenever you see someone picked up in order to get hooked. And yes, you predict someone "may" have BBQ, as well as you predict someone "may" have Dead Hard when chasing someone. Turns out you find out real fast if your prediction was right or wrong.
Running towards the radius where BBQ doesn't work also works as shortening the distance between the hooked player and yourself, should you choose to go for the unhook.
The only real time waster would be to try the "juke for 4 seconds" if you're too far away from the picked up survivor, or far away from a gen. And you should only try those if facing Billy or Nurse (maybe Spirit?), aka, the only killers able to cut that distance in an efficient manner.
Or facing Scott's Huntress and his circus crossmap throws.

I personally don't care about what the killer or survivor uses as perks/addons/or offerings. I just deal and move on. They earned it and should use it how they see fit.And I kinda regret dumping a million bloodpoints on the Hag (a killer I've played twice) just to earn a perk I never use, on any killer. Shoulda Woulda, but I find those dead rabbits much more powerful than Ruin.
And I agree completely, if I face you some time and you decide to use DS, SB, SC, Alert, and an Instaheal, so be it, no crying. Should I expect you to equip yourself to maximize your chances to get slaughtered instead?

@fedup said:
the delay it puts on survivors even if its small justifies its greatness, early game is so important
Well I guess it's just a matter of preference. Personally, I don't like Ruin and I never equip it, after it was taken out of the game in the first 30 seconds a lot of times. But I wouldn't say it's a crutch, or broken perk at all.

@fedup said:
not really if your doing your stuff and not permanently watching out for the hangs
Then you're not playing optimallly.

@ScottJund said:
Yeah just instantly teleport to the totem and break it, no time lost at all.
It doesn't remove 12 seconds with 3, its closer to 16 with the dead generator time in between failed checks. Sloppy Butcher adds 4 seconds to a normal heal, shortened even further by medkits and perks. If your entire team is only self caring every time they get hit with mangled, your team is stupid.
No need to teleport to it, chances are 1 out of the 4 survivors will find it right next to the first gen they choose to work on.

@fedup said:
its not broken but every coolio killer is using it, same as bbq ( the most broken, it doesnt giv you an opportunity), like, come on dude.
Man, BBQ has like 6 or 7 counters.

I need NOED on Nurse because she's weak to these darn gen rushers
Play her on console and you may need NOED because she's weak to that darn FPS LMAO

I wasnt linking you interpreting what I said to you rereading it. I was saying if you thought about what I meant when I first said if you need ruin...
and yeah I've definitely held my own against swf playing as someone as bad as doctor. I couldnt have done it without ruin tho !!
That's why I choose to only read the lines and not between them, at least in this forum. I would've made a jackass out of myself if I started calling you 'whatever names' if I had interpreted the rank doesn't matter comment.
In my case, I play with Billy, Myers, Huntress, Doc, and sometimes LF, Trapper and Clown. I don't use Ruin in anyone. And sometimes I manage to do well against those teams at R1, but there was one game I wasn't able to land a single hit with Billy when 3 gens popped. Game over by then. Maybe Ruin could've helped a bit in that particular match.
Bottomline, I don't think using Ruin in any killer would turn you into a bad player if you need it as part of your optimal setup to win. And certainly wouldn't flame anyone after the match for using it.
-
@artist said:
lol what else do u need ruin for? to slow the game down? and why do u need to do that? oh right. to win. simple things like that can be interpreted if u think a little bit.
also. rank doesnt matter.
Reread doesn't equal interpret. I could interpret whatever I want out of your comments, but I choose not to. Your opinion about rank not mattering could be interpreted as clearly having never played killer (and winning) at R1 against highly coordinated and efficient 4 man SWF teams.
But I choose not to interpret it, because I could be wrong and look like a fool. So instead I will ask directly, have you?

@artist said:
reread what I said. if you NEED ruin on billy to win, then you are bad. not if u use it, you are automatically bad
I would say if a R1 billy or nurse 'needed' Ruin to win a game against a highly coordinated and efficient 4 man SWF team, that Billy or Nurse just found his optimal setup, one that allows him to be competitive against even the worst odds.
In my case, I don't use Ruin because I don't like it, and it's not a part of my optimal setup. Same goes for NOED, or when playing survivor, DS. I just don't like them and I think are not optimal. But I wouldn't say anyone 'needing' them would be bad.
And just a comment, pal. If you're going to tell someone to reread what you said, you should first reread it. Nowhere in your original comment you mentioned "to win".
@artist said:
thing is ruin isn't needed on top tier killers because you should be applying a lot of pressure already. if you do need it on a billy or nurse you're most likely bad with them -

Perks are tools, and skilled players use their preferred tools to play better. You can't say a killer (or survivor) is bad for using certain perks. Those are their preferred tools to get the job done.

@Dwight_Fairfield said:
Ruin is needed to slow the game down just a little bit as Monto would say. Its far from being a crutch perk.But the thing with ruin is that it often isn't very useful. Usually it gets taken out early in the game, or skilled players can just work through it.
I don't use it on any killer for those reasons. I prefer equipping perks that will help all game long.

If its implemented in the next chapter console should be getting the same treatment right?That would be the right thing to do, giving all the platforms the same option.

Any perk in the game is, well, game. Including the lamest ones like DS and NOED. Same goes for items, add-ons and offerings.

The problem with Legion isn't the fact he isn't close to being powerful like the Nurse or the Hillbilly. It's the fact he's simply weak. His power is fun to use but isn't going to do much to actually help you.Legion is a killer for those wanting to play tag with strangers over the internet.

The PTB has brighter auras. I have deuteranomaly and can actually see the hex totems and easily spot auras now.These are actually good news for PC players. Hopefully these changes make it to the final version of the patch. And let's wait to see what happens for us console players.

Oh so much more! They were even trying that "juke" where you wait at a pallet and walk through it after the killer breaks it and then double back. Nope.
Give them credit for watching the YT tutorials

Funny stuff indeed. A no-skill noob outplaying the 360, which I guess they were trying over and over, and then some more. I remember once when I was flamed for chainsawing all 12 hooks with Billy at R1. Such a no-skill noob for relying on the killer's power in order to, you know, kill.
-
@fcc2014 Playing as a killer, Red Forest, Springwood, Haddonfield and now Coldwind too, suffer from a subnormal choppy framerate all game long, and experience massive drops before landing (missing) hits. If not actually worse, It feels just like it has been since the Clown/Kate updates.
But hey, post-game screen is smooth as ever!

I saw something in the patch notes about PC Only Adjusted lighting across all themes and maps, quality settings (PC Only), as well as Killer specific lighting conditions (The Nightmare's dream world, etc). I hope we eventually get this as it seemed easier to spot and distinguish things.
Well I guess then it's a matter of waiting until the new chapter is released, and hopefully the optimization patch in december drops in time regardless.
-
Since I'm playing on a PS4 I can't access the PTB, but I've watched a couple of videos where gen and hook auras seemed brighter and easier to spot.
For those PC players out there, are the auras actually brighter? or is it just that I'm a victim of wishful thoughts?

Haddonfield. PS4 framerate.
-
Yes
-
Thank you guys for adding your voice to the petition. Hopefully the devs take note and do what is needed.
-
Don't level anybody until the event ends.
-
It's all cool anyway. As I've stated before in a different thread, I will only ask for longer matches, I think that would really improve balance at all levels of gameplay.
-
@Hubz said:
I am surprised that its not in the game already and that a mod has not noticed us yetAt least one mod, one community manager, and perhaps one dev (he was mentioned in the first page) have noticed the thread.
-
Elaborating, how many threads talk about nerfing Nurse? How many REALLY good nurses are out there terrorizing people? Are they even 5% of Nurse players? Yet a lot of people complain about her.
-
Yet there are a lot of people playing at least 90% of their matches as a coordinated SWF team. I wonder why - if it's not supposed to give an unfair advantage - they hold their ground so furiously when even mentioning balancing around it. What would they say if it happened the other way around?
And balance could be achieved in several tiers, just an idea. Playing in the low ranks could be more forgiving as a survivor, as an example. And balance high skill gameplay in the red ranks independently.

Obviously you shouldn't be using your killer's power in their detriment. You need to equip Empathy IRL, dude.

We may get a Hallowed Blight Survey. I will suggest if we have an option to say something use it to mention colorblind support. They changed the event hooks another color. It doesn't seem to be a massive process.
Will ask them to keep the orange auras, they are so much better.
-
I was once called a "garbage unfair #########" for chainsawing people for all 12 hooks as Billy. Didn't even swing the hammer once in that game. When I laughed at the comment taking it for a joke, the sender kept texting insults.
Just another day at R1 in PS4.

-
I couldn't get to play a single game yesterday at R1 killer.
-
Still happening
-
Any news on this? We're still getting it after every match ends.
-
I agree with you. Devs should work on optimization in the next weeks.
-
I think it's great. I believe this is exactly what the game needs to balance gameplay at R1. Faced some SWF teams today and so far, not a single hate message after the match ends, not a single display of bad manners, guys that survive get a ton of points, guys that don't make it are happy anyways bc they got their vials. Looks to me like everyone was having fun.
Hopefully the devs find the way to add this kind of alternative objectives in non-event gameplay. These objectives should always reward survivors IMO, either with cosmetics or BP, so they're happy doing them, instead of feeling they're doing chores.
-
Or make an alt account, and don't kill anybody, just practice throws and blinks
-
KYF. or casual K4R (kill four randos). A lot of guys have asked for casual mode, where you can learn the basics from either side, or practice Nurse / Huntress, which I think are the only 2 killers that would give you trouble if trying to learn in the red ranks. Maybe Spirit too.
Because they'll never add bots.
-
Just about the same going on for killers. It's been like that for a while now. Haddonfield, Red forest, Springwood, all with atrocious FPS. Play doctor in any of those and you'll get 10fps or less at times.
-
LMAO...You should see how things are on console...

This event is a hidden test for survs to do more things , not only gen.Hopefully the devs incorporate them to normal gameplay.

@Salty_Pearl said:
I'm not on DBD yet and I'm a bit confused, can we only get 30 vials per day or is it 30 for the entire event? Also how much does each outfit cost?You can fill vials every game, as long as the vial still has room in it. Once it's full, you have to wait for the end of the match to empty it. 30 vials is the limit for each survivor and killer, making it a maximum 60 vials for the whole event, if you play both sides.
-
I'm just pleased survivors got alternative objectives. Hopefully the devs incorporate them somehow in normal gameplay.
