To me, that says that the way the emblem system is implemented is dumb for making DCs such a harsh penalty for the enemy. Also the lack of a proper concession feature.

Also, how does one STOP disconnects?

If they cared that much they would remove the button. Force people to close via task manager or something.

The emblem system is messed up though. The devs have been far too cheap with bonus points offered to killers and survivors after disconnects.

  • Because if you gave him a cooldown the people that use him might actually have to git gud in order to win. We can’t be having that can we? They want to be the power role after all.

  • Not really Karma. The Ash got punished and the Meg didn't.

Not bait, the proof is in the stats. He's overperforming.

That doesn't matter here. He could be getting a 4k every game and the response would be "survivors need to git gud".

I don't mind Freddy too much although at times he can be used far too often. It's as if all the former Spirit players moved onto Freddy once they saw the stats and Spirit got nerfed. I just don't like the sleep mechanic. It's gray, ugly, the sounds are weird, it's just a bit dull. As you said barely any point waking yourself up because it won't last long. I also don't think a killer with a 32m terror radius who moves at 4.6m/s needs a non-directional lullaby. It makes sense on Huntress because she's slow and it's 45m so more time to react. Freddy doesn't really need it.

Also I don't agree with the slowdown add ons. He gets 12% speed debuff on you just for existing. He can be afk and still apply the speed debuff. Hopefully though they stop those working with thana and dying light sooner rather than later.

Just a couple things here before it's off to bed....

Ranks were the worst introduction to this game. While it's understood that they were used early on as a "marketing tool"...an incentive for players to keep playing and provide visual affirmation of progress or skill...the fear of losing rank was the initial cause for most DCing. Since those early days, as to not appear to be a try hard or sweaty player (in what is suppose to be a casual survival game) a multitude of excuses have surfaced to legitimize DCing.

PHUCK THAT FECES! You queued up for a game...play the damn game. Aside from your cat or ferret pulling your modem power cable out of the wall, there is nothing anyone could ever say about ANY situation that would convince me DCing is the best option.

AFK killer and survivors? Who takes this game that seriously?! No, really...if that so ruins your game (which I'll never believe the feigned outrage of such a happening)...seek professional help. Free points for one or the other. You're not going to convince me you're the Predator standing on some soapbox of morality about the travesty that is a "ruined" game.

This is you....this is what you sound like:

Unless this trial is perfect to my standards...well....I'm just going...I'm gonna leave.

    I don't like this map...DC.

    I don't like this killer...DC.

    I don't like those add-ons...DC.

    Other survivors aren't good enough...DC.

    This killer tunnels....DC.

    This killer facecamps....DC.

    I was hit too soon...DC.

I mean, the list of bullshit just goes on and on and on....but here's the thing champ...here's what you don't seem to get; We don't care!!! I want you to DC for any and every reason as much as you want....until we no longer have to deal with such a bitchy player.

I will never NOT support the DC penalty. It's the best addition to a game filled with whining maggots!

    Or how about this...

Turn the game on - Play for say 2 hours

Have 10 games in that period.

    4 games feature disconnects.

That’s 6 normal games and 4 ruined by disconnects

    Problem.

    Now...

    Have 10 games

4 feature suiciding survivors or afk killers

That’s still my time wasted with 4 non-games.

However at least before if people were going to be babies and dc immediately then it meant I could quickly get back into search and look for a new game. Making those 10 games more like 12.

Now however if somebody doesn’t want to play you still need to see it through to the end of the trial. Oh killer doesn’t like this map? Guess they’re going afk then yay just gonna hold M1 for a few minutes before I’m allowed to join a new game.

Hook suicides and afk killers were only a minor problem before as they were infrequent however now those cases FROM MY EXPERIENCE have skyrocketed.

You make so many assumptions about me it’s disgusting. I could easily make assumptions about you. Oh you have all the free time in the world? Yeah I can see why it doesn’t bother you.

However for people like myself with a full time job and other things going on? If I am able to set aside time for 10 games and 4 of them are ruined then what does it matter if its disconnects or suicides/afk? I’m still not getting to play the actual game. I’m not having good matches regardless.

“Oh wow the killer has a good start. This is going to be a tense game where we need to claw our way back.....oh nevermind Nea killed herself on 1st hook. Oh now Nancy had too. Gg I guess”

”Oh wow Ormund. Wonder who the killer is, wonder how good my teammates are, wonder if this will be a tense and exciting game....oh wait killer doesn’t like the map so he’s afk. Hmm guess I better get through these gens so I can join a game with somebody who actually wants to play”

All they have done is improve upon one problem but create another. Know what you sound like? A killer main who couldn’t care less so long as he gets the hook points. Some of us want a competitive game. That’s why we’re playing multiplayer and not against bots. I’m assuming for you though when the survivors/killer gives up you’re just giddy with happiness about the EZ win.

  • The map is pretty damn cool. Going to have to see how the loops work out though. Some of those balcony vaults look like they may become troublesome.

I like the work they did on everything. The realm, the background, the exit gates, the scenery....just imagine if they were willing to do this a year ago what we could have had for the Plagues map 😢

  • On the latest dev stream I think he’s referring to.

What they said is perk slowdown synergy. E.g Thanatophobia, Dying light, swing chains, jump rope, old Ruin kind of synergy.

In terms of actual synergy e.g quick and quiet + head on, or rancor and nemesis etc I do believe they are very much for that.

  • Not straight away. Can’t afford it.

By can’t afford it I don’t mean money I mean bloodpoints. This is why I don’t buy killers day one anymore. Still got plenty of killers I need to unlock more perks for. If I buy a new killer I need to save up 1 million bp to get me so far and then I’m at the hands of rng as to what perks I have to play with, and just need to grind more to get the perks I want. I’d rather use the BP on killers I already own. None of the perks on killer or survivor are must-have so I’ll just wait.

Anyone that tries to defend Hillbilly not needing nerfed with one side of their mouth while acting like other killers need nerfs is a hypocrite.

Billy's tuning doesn't make any sense compared to the other killers.

He can run forever. He can chainsaw forever. He has no freakin' cooldowns.

None of it makes sense. It's like if Nurse could blink forever without getting stunned after them or Huntress never needing to reload her Hatchets. Or the new killer not having to reload. Or Oni not needing blood to power-up.

He's ridiculously OP & not at all in line with the other killers in the game.

He doesn't make sense from their own design standpoint.

Where are the negatives that negate his positives? He always has a 1-shot down. He can run forever across the entire map. He literally has no weaknesses, it's stupid.

Stop trying to defend him because you like him. From a DESIGN standpoint, he's broken.

I’m glad someone else gets it. Hillbilly is so out of whack with other characters. There’s no way he can be “the most balanced killer” because the devs never designed a killer like him afterwards.

He’s the only killer imo that needs a nerf now. Certain things about others I may tweak but Hillbilly is the only one that needs the nerf.

For the record he shouldn’t be 110% it just doesn’t suit him. He just needs the charge/cooldown add ons nerfed a bit, and some kind of stamina so that when he’s zoomed over to one side of the map to instadown a survivor he can’t then immediately zoom back across to the other side to camp a hook.

Spirit can only walk for so long, freddy has a cooldown on the teleports, even Demogorgan has a cooldown on the teleports and that’s his main power.

  • It’s not meant to stack but I remember hearing Otzdarva saying it does due to a bug. Not sure if they ever changed that.

  • More and more cases crop up like this every day. You’d think they would be reviewing and adjusting it until the servers are more stable. None of these happened before dedicated servers and the rank update error also gets taken as a disconnect sometimes even though it occurs after the game has finished.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

If the problem is that there are people suiciding on hook since the can't DC.

Why are you saying the solution is to let them DC instead of trying to remove hook suiciding too? And then add in a clause for when everyone is on the guaranteed to die that speeds everything up much like in the case of the last Survivor being on the hook.

So basically if everyone is either in the dying state or on the hook. With players that have no mither or unbreakable not counting for dying state. Then the game enters an accelerated state that will just kill everyone.

And otherwise make it impossible for Survivors to willingly progress hook states. Yes this would require a rework to kobies, but such a swingy mechanic being reworked a bit isn't a big problem.

Because if they can’t hook suicide then they will afk. You can’t force them to play.

I’d rather they just did what they did before. Let them dc but when they reach a certain threshold they receive a ban not just a timeout. The problem before was that it took about a billion games of disconnecting before they got a ban. If they lowered that threshold drastically it would have been ok. I’m also not convinced they did it on a monthly basis as some assume. It seemed to be in waves like most companies do, but these only seemed to happen every 6 months or so going by complaints online.

Basically right now there are a number of people playing the game who have no intention or desire of playing the game. All the current system does it give then a timeout and also gives them a get-out clause in hook suiciding or going afk. That applies to killers too. To me if every couple of games I’m against afk killers or hook suiciding survivors then its still wasted time and ruined games. Gettung a few extra points for hooks etc really doesn’t change much.

  • That’s what a lot do. They try to hide it. You can normally tell when something is off though, or eventually if you manage a few hits the hackers will go turbo.

I’d imagine its only going to be rare circumstances you see a hacker. For the most part those are either likely good loopers or maybe latency plays a part too.

  • It’s a good point.

By the time you’ve got all perks on a killer you’ll have around 40-50 green add ons or so.

Survivors have more perks but by the time you’ve grinded all the perks on one you’ll be nowhere near that number in terms of any specific green item or add on.

Hell you can have 20+ Ultra rare add ons as killer, 40+ ebony moris but as survivor about 8 red keys.

  • Very much so. Blendettes are almost invisible at some parts.

  • @Accullla said:

He will be top tier in some people's hands and bottom tier in other people's hands. Just like every other killer

That’s especially true of the 4.4m/s killers.

I’ve mostly been going against rank 20s today so he has been a pushover. However going against one that could actually land most shots things changed. He was chaining hits on survivors really well.

Toolboxes needed the nerf just like Forever Freddy did, and survivors should have always lost addons since killers do without black wards. At least with ace in the hole you can keep them. Killers have to burn an offering to do so.

And sabo takes three seconds to do. That's not exactly a dramatic amount of time to be off a gen. Especially considering you can directly deny the killer's objective by doing it.

I miss it when updates where just updates. Instead of the community rushing to determine which side got nerfed worse. It's like some of you people sit around waiting for ######### to complain about.

I never complained, I just pointed out the obvious.

I think toolboxes needed to be nerfed too, and they have been.

Sabo is accessible to more than just 3-4 man swf now, but it’s also another thing survivors can do other than generators which is what killers want.

  • @NullEXE said:

I'm not okay with the changes, I have been playing in the PTB, and running this as survivor

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲ ▼

Alex's Toolbox w/ Hacksaw, Wire Spool (Petrified Oak)

Saboteur, Breakout, Iron Will, Sprint Burst

Then I add a Petrified Oak offering.

Literally has been the worst experience the Killer's i've faced had - because they couldn't hook - anyone, by one person. I am achieving what took 3-4 coordinated swf in just a single build. For a Horror game, it so far has proven that I am the most horrifying thing in the entity's realm.

I don't know if anyone here has seen my other comments, but seriously - I told you so.

That’s not the experience I’ve had with it.

Firstly you need a sabo toolbox, saboteur and breakout. Thats a purple item and 2 perks dedicated to it. Then you need an offering for hooks which are rare. On top of that the hooks are often so close that if the killer goes to the one you dont expect it fails.

its now possible for solos to pull off sabo better but it requires a number of things stacked in order to do that and a survivor willing to spend time off gens to make it hapoen.

  • Ok I can confirm the speeds are definitely faster. Used the purple toolbox with add ons.

  • Its been bad recently. People giving up on 1st hook, people going afk, long queue times for survivor.

The irony is the PTB tonight has been more fun than the live version in a long time. Short queues (for survivor at least) and nobody is going afk, disconnecting or giving up on hook.

Also put with good ranks too for survivor but facing a few too many rank 20 killers.

  • You know where the killer is. So if you break a pallet or kick a gen you onow where they are and since the aura lasts about 5 seconds you’ll have an idea of which direction they’re heading.

  • @typervader said:

Deathslingers spear also moves 100 times faster and is easier to hit

This. Even Huntress with her green hatchet draw add in doesnt compare to the speed at which this guy can aim and fire

  • Toolboxes have been nerfed into the ground and survivors lose add ons now.

It’s definitely a survivor nerfing update. The changes to sabo don’t make up for that.

At least with sabo’ing survivors are off gens.

  • @Almo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1105522#Comment_1105522

Oh yeah! My apologies. But yes, every toolbox should repair considerably faster than it used to now.

Not gonna lie it's hard to judge. There's also the psychological element where yellow looks lightning fast even if it's only 9% from resilience and red looks really slow even if it's only 4% from thanatophoia.

I rarely used toolboxes so I'm not the best person to judge these times. Gotta say though with the amount of charges they have you guys nerfed them into dust. They were OP before but I don't think anyone can argue the changes aren't strong enough.

  • GF after the buff, freddy rework and doctor rework. All have been really strong but some people will never be happy.

What do you mean? I've only had three games today where a Claudette hides inside a locker from the start of the game.

Kind of expected that to happen. They really need to put more planning into these challenges.

  • @almo Hard to tell because we still have tremendously, considerably etc

It didn't seem that fast but I only got to try on one gen.

  • If you have a survivor down and the killer goes to chase someone else it can be extremely powerful.

I also LOVE the survivors using this on me. For once I feel like my teammates are a help rather than a hinderance.

Haven't got against it as killer yet because I've been trying to grind some points first but gonna go give it a little try later.

I personally think it deserves a WGLF stack.

  • It's not as powerful as I expected after seeing the initial sabo speed for solo or 2 man swf. You'll want breakout and sabo to make the most of it, then a toolbox so you can sabo more than 1 hook. Hooks are still really close together

A 4 man swf could do it but at least they're off gens and hooks respawn much faster now.

On a side note does anyone know where to report bugs for this ptb?

Really? I rarely run into face campers. Maybe put down the flashlight and don't give them a reason?

Maybe that's because it's hard to run into face campers when you're playing killer and face camping the hook?

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1103412#Comment_1103412

It actually is more healthy than them simply DCing, yes. We all know you like to DC, but it's just something you're going to have to give up on. Or, move to a different game where bad sports can flourish. :)

and there we go, another toxic reply. "We know you like to dc" no you don't know the first thing about me you're just making crap up for the sake of trolling and trying to misrepresent my argument.

  • Yeah already seen it in action. That’s how most killers are played though

  • If you work on a gen for 3 seconds the perk activates, Now if you walk away and hide in a locker the killer gets the explosion notification on that gen.

So the idea is you start a gen. Maybe one in the corner with nobody on it, an irrelevant gen. Then you move away and get in a locker. The killer gets the notification and they walk across thinking the're going to find a survivor but suprise! nobody there.

I can't see anything on the new map at all,as either surv or killer lmao

I tried survivor too and it was awkward. I’d hate to face Trapper on this map.

Either way though dark maps always favour survivors. Its so dark it’s a little irritating. I was using reshade too, gonna have to up the brightness.

  • It’s too dark. Blendettes have it so easy.

  • Gearhead could be useful. You chase a survivor, get 2 hits then hook, then as soon as they hit a skillcheck you know they’re on a gen. Sometimes with thrilling tremors for example it can block off gens so you think nobody is there but the survivor starts it afterwards.

Hex retribution will likely screw over any survivor being chased. Its another hex perk though so it adds confusion to survivors. Did I cleanse hex retribution? Or devour hope? Its not immediately noticeable like Ruin or haunted grounds where you know beforehand, not unless you cleansed a dull totem anyway.

Red herring is such a blendette perk. Just hope people don’t use that to troll their way to the hatch. E.g start a gen with another survivor, then go away and into a locker to get the killer on them.

For the People would be really good if it granted a WGLF token. I dont see why not you’re putting your life on the line to help another survivor.

  • Killer can close the hatch you know.

  • edit: Nevermind upon reading the perk descriptions again I’m not so sure. Gonna test them out

  • oh wow.

Is it still a no-no to post leaked pics?

That looks adorable, yet highly likely going to become a prime target for moris by sadistic killers :(

  • Not that I know of no but it's confirmed wild west cowboy.

You can find a pic of the killer here (spoilers for anyone that doesn't want to see yet)

I was for DC penalties at first, but I've noticed a massive increase in DC and suicide since they were put in. I chalked this up to frustration over the penalties at first, but I'm starting to think this is going to be the new norm. Much worse than before. Keep in mind, I'm probably the one of the more fair killers in the game. I will avoid tunneling if at all possible. If I pass by you and you were on the hook less than a minute ago, I'll likely move on and keep looking. At most, I'll down you and keep going. I avoid being a toxic killer because I want to play the game as if the other players are people too and I know how much it sucks to get tunneled out of the game in less than 3 minutes with no points.

Anyways, if I play like that and I'm hammered with suicides and DCs now, then I can only imagine what more toxic killers are seeing. I know I told my wife I'm done with survivor for a while. She has wanted to play more lately, but the level of camping, tunneling, and outright toxicity is through the roof right now. We had a killer who admitted his only goal was to get players to DC so they would get the penalty. This should not be a thing. Every match was a 2v1 and the killer did not care. We had suicides and DCs non-stop. I had enough after one night of that BS. Told her she is on her own.

She has yet to have a single match in the three days since where there was not a DC or suicide. Most of the time there are multiple. She was playing survivor and I killer last night. She played 14 matches. She was tunneled or camped in 10 of them, slugged in 2, and had a couple of fun Pig matches due to Booping the Snoot.

Myself, I had a dozen killer matches last night and had a suicide on first hook in 8 of them. Nothing special. Running Trapper or Pig and down the first person, hook, suicide. I was nowhere near the hook in each instance.

I say give it a month or so, if this does not change, get rid of the darn penalties. I want the old matches back.

That was my experience too. To be honest disconnects are down but hook suicides and afk killers are way up.

I'd say from my experience at least a third of games have hook suicides or afk killers.

Also yes plenty of videos circulating and stories of killers playing toxic to try and encourage disconnects. It doesn't surprise me one bit with this community.

  • @Keene_Kills said:

Please tell me that's not truly the killer's name...

It is. Lore is he's from late 1800's, and the map is a saloon. So it's a play on Gunslinger I imagine.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

Keep giving feedback because at this rate they are going to have long queues because of how many people were wrongly penalized when they didn’t intentionally DC.

The penalties would have worked if the game didn’t have its own history of issues with crashes happening in the middle of a match.

I got disconnected while I was being unhooked, all of a sudden I am taken to the post match chat screen with a server error... and then I get a penalty. Lol 😂

I've seen this a fair bit while playing survivor and killer. People come off hook and the dc icon appears.

When it's intentional it's normally done before the hook.

But I guess it serves you right for discon....trying to play the game you paid for.

Yesterday I was playing against a ghost face, I was the last survivor found and he kept tbaging on top of my body for a good 10 minutes for no reason, now if I DC I get penalized! what about him?

Just part of the game according to devs and killer mains will defend their right to do it to the death.

Great point about wanting to have fun in this hour or two. Lets imagine that in first 5 seconds killer found you, killed, grab... and you dc. How is that fun to the other 4 people? Killer dont even get points for hooking you, and survs dont get points for saving you. So lets say it straight : you ruin game for 4 other people... bcs you were impatience? Oh, wait, but YOU DONT CARE. Guess what - i also dont care if you get banned for 2 years or whole eternity as long as im not gonna play with you again.

As you talked about suicide - i have solution. Just take off that option from the game (pressing space during phase 2 and left click from phase 1), just so people like you would have to wait whole 3 or 4 minutes before they can go play another game even if they "dont care".

And please, cut off that bullocks. Its still nothing compared to the plague (no pun intended) of kids who dc when killer found them.

So i opt for increasing penalties for dc.

The game is about the suspense and thrill of being chased or giving chase.Like all multiplayer videogames it's the competitive element that makes it compelling.

If survivors just forfeit and give up on hook where is the fun? oh I get hook points now whoop-de-do. Totally makes the game fun. Likewise for killers going afk.

    DC penalties have solved nothing.

1 … 38 39 40 41 42 … 63
