Because when you play survivor, that's what you signed up for, to be put in a situation where you're the victim and have to overcome an aggressor.

It's sad that they don't understand this.

the issue really starts with the killer in this circumstance so I don’t understand why the victim has to change and not the perpetrator

Why should the Killer change? Their job is to kill as many Survivors as they can and slugging is a legitimate strategy that has been backed by Devs on this forum. You don't like being tunneled, so you bring in DS and BT. Your team can also flashlight save, sabotage and body block. If a Killer is supposed to follow your rules for not tunneling, maybe you should just not get caught if you don't like being slugged.

  • As long as it's not before, sure. I also want a speedo Dwight and a Swim Shorts Steve.

Killers still slug when there isn't an obsession, it's never solely been about DS, ever.

For what it's worth, I have no issue with slugging but to say it's about countering DS is entirely false.

I know and I never said that it was solely about DS. It was just an example. It is actually a really good method to apply pressure on Survivors to help slow down the game.

I don't mind one bit if you agree with me or not. Its the clear bias around a number of the arguments being thrown around here. For example one person is upset and defensive for killers that get hit with DS. But for survivors that get slugged for 4 minutes they have nothing to say but "Just don't let it happen to you". Meanwhile a survivor could say the same about any variety of killer situations yet you don't bring it up. Both situations are obnoxious but one lasts longer, can be afflicted on an entire team, along with the caviet that survivors slugged can't best it. A killer DS'd isn't down for a potential 4 minutes or more they simply lose the chase and survivor

I don't wish to get caught up in the minuite of this thread's debates I'm pointing out the fallacies in the driving narrative being thrown around here

Then people should be asking for the Devs to revert the bleed out timer to two minutes as it once was. I have no problem making things a bit more convenient for players on both sides, such as the change to Trappers resetting traps without having to pick them up, I am just against people asking for buffs or nerfs just because they don't like something about the game.

I think the game is in a relatively good spot at the moment and that nothing needs to be drastically changed except for Billys insta-saw, Huntress' iridescent hatchets and maybe some improvements to solo Survivor - though not much since I think the new matchmaking should take care of a lot of the issues (yea, I may be delusional thinking this).

The problem with a lot of players is that they don't play both roles and never consider how difficult it is to the other side. It would be nice if they would try it out.

I would love to see something like this. I hate when a killer slugs everyone or even just the last 2 survivors and simply lets them bleed out. I understand waiting awhile to ensure not getting hit with DS, but there's no reason to slug someone and leave them on the ground after that time other than intentionally being a jerk. Give me the option to submit and I will take it everytime in that situation. Killer can get his points. I can move on to the next match and not waste my time.

I can agree with your suggestion of speeding up the bleed out timer, especially when it is at the beginning of the match and the Killer is Billy with Infectious Fright and has already slugged 3 people even though there are still 5 gens. But so it doesn't get abused, the devs should make the hatch take a little longer to open in the situation where there are only two Survivors are left and one forfeits to give the advantage to their teammates.

I love the lack of empathy on this. Somehow the killer gets more pity because he was stabbed by DS, even though in most cases the killer tunneled him

I get its a difficult situation believe me I hate DS myself. But come on man that's a double standard

Aw man, I just had a similar experience last night.

Was a 4-man SWF, one of them had a Twitch address in his title. (Wasn't streaming, though) They were being obnoxious as hell, ran four flashlights, clicked and teabagged at every opportunity, but the streamer guy was the worst of all.

Very end of the game they're running for the exits and they all pause to get some more BM in and I hit the streamer. He was juuuuust an inch too far from the exit to crawl there in time and I hooked him for 3rd time.

Dude just lost his mind in post-game chat. "I let you get that kill! You're trash! You were lagging the whole game! I just felt bad for you! I gave you a pity kill!" and on and on. 🤣

That happened to one of my random teammates yesterday ( I play solo *Insert Forever Alone Meme here*). I was dead, and watching from Claudettes camera. The Killer was Daddy Trapper and the Claudette was a safe distance away from him inside the gate. He stands back and keeps replacing his trap for points. Claudette slowly edges towards him then away from him. Trapper then starts to do the same, it was obvious the Claudette didn't realize he had NoEd active because when she edged towards him just a little bit more, bam, he uses the speed boost from NoEd and downs her. I died laughing. She claimed she let him down her, but it was obvious she was surprised.

Its not hard to just escape, but no, they need to rub in their win.

  • It has been stated over and over on the forums and even on the most recent 4th anniversary Dev Stream (worth the watch) that the Devs are working on a new Ranking and Matchmaking system. They already have a new algorithm that is currently collecting data on players in certain regions. They hope to have it ready soon, like within the next month or two.

  • Downing a Claudette who was t-bagging at the exit gate just a little too far from the escape line. It was so delicious to be able to hook her and see the light fade from her eyes.

Well yes that is true, you can't just say that. That's a very selfish lazy way to put it. While there are counters to slugging, the point is that it's not fun for the survivor's side. What if that person is new with the game and they don't know how to loop ? What if nobody on the team is using Unbreakable ? I'm sure it's probably not super fun for the killer to get DS'd 4 times, but we're talking from the survivors POV.

The new matchmaking and ranking system will fix many issues that new Survivors face. Eventually, they will learn how to counter slugging by getting better at looping, running unbreakable and good teamwork.

You can't talk about the Survivors POV without considering the Killers point of view. If the Killer out smarted the survivor and downed them fast, why should they be punished? Why shouldn't a Killer slug? Why should the game be made more enjoyable for Survivors at the cost of the Killers enjoyment? Slugging is better for the Survivor than getting hooked. It gives you a chance to get back in the game. There is nothing wrong with slugging, if you don't like it, get better at preventing your chances for going down in the first place.

You've seen someone get banned for it?

I havent heard about anyone getting in trouble for suicide on hook...

I remember once a killer found me early..like seconds in the match. I had a glory moment of running him for 2 minutes or so. I felt amazing, cause I suck at escapes. I stayed in one area of the map..during the chase never heard any gens go off. When I was hooked I saw all my teammates just milling around the map doing NOTHING. So I peaced out to a better match.

I hope it isn't bannable. I only throw the match when my teammates are intentionally being stupid and won't do any objective. I just had a Dwight just stand next to me while I was doing a one person gen, against the Plague. We were all infected, so you'd think he'd be in a hurry to finish gens. Nope, he just sat there, looking at me. I pointed for him to go to another gen and he just t-bagged. I went away and vault spammed to get the Killer to me and walked to a hook.

Devs should just implement the bot system that the mobile game has and just introduce a suicide option or something. That way, Killers don't lose out on points.

Excuse me, I know I may be showing my age by asking this, but, what is a “pepegas”?

So, I just hit rank 7 in killer and lately I have been getting a LOT of SWFs, and I am not talking about like 2 people, ALL OF THEM. Since I can't do much about them, how do I counter them ?

A well coordinated swf death squad on comms doesn't have a counter unless you master Nurse, Spirit or Billy/Oni and Freddy, and even then good luck, since most of the time you will have to wait for them to make a mistake.

The best advice I can give you is to avoid getting in long chases and tunnel the weakest member. The faster you can get them out of the match, the easier it will be to get the rest of them. Don't feel bad for them, they don't care about you.

If you suspect them being a swf, select your best Killer, with your best add-ons and throw in a mori just in case.

It wasn’t hard to complete. As soon as I stopped trying to complete it, I completed it. I was in the basement opening a chest and a teammate brought the killer and looped them for almost a minute above.

Just run Calm Spirit to avoid Doctors powers or infectious fright.

  • He just wants to be your friend. He’s tired of people leaving him after a match, so he now plays music with his Chainsaw to woo you into becoming friends with him.

Who wants to lay on the ground and bleed out all match without earning anything? I'm pushing a button as a slug within the game and getting nothing in return? The killer just returns to slug me as I get off the ground. I can't fight back because everyone else is slugged too. Please, this is not fun.

Slugging is the counter to DS. It is not fun for Killers to get stabbed by DS, especially when a Survivor gets on a gen in their face.

You don’t like being slugged? Get better at looping, run Unbreakable or do both!

  • @csandman1977 said:

Devs have stated DS is not considered an anti tunnel perk. Which in my opinion makes it worse. They basically gave survivors an abusable FU perk.

That is why when I play against obvious swf, I have no reservations with tunneling and slugging. I just wish we could tell 100% that they're a swf in the lobby so I can best prepare myself with my best Killer and add-ons. It's only fair since they get the advantage of communication and coordination.

They would never do that since swf would cry about it.

  • I am pretty sure that the Devs have recently mentioned on the forums that it they never labeled DS as an anti-tunnel perk. Players were the ones who bestowed that title upon it. I guess it is just an over powered perk that forces you to slug. One of them did mention that they are looking into ways to make it more difficult to abuse. They're probably stocking up on potatoes before they reveal any changes in preparation for all the salt they are going to get.

  • If someone farms their teammates and I can down them, I will just sit there and camp them till they die and let everyone else go. It's not the teams fault for one jerks actions.

You shouldn't have wasted the energy in your fingertips messaging that person. They aren't going to change.

  • Clown. I just unlocked him for Pop and thought I'd give him a shot since I have seen him destroy my groups in matches, but he really is difficult to do well with. Not many options available for him.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

If you DC or use the "Leave Match" option, you will be hit with a DC ban that becomes incrementally longer each time. I would suggest not doing it, that way you don't find yourself in a real bind if the game crashes or your internet goes out or something mid-match, because that too counts as a DC. The system can't discern between intentional and unintentional.

If the survivors I'm facing are dicks, I go stand at the exit gate and look up into the sky so they can't blind me, they can't get chase points, they are forced to give up trying to annoy me and go do gens. Once they finish the last gen, I immediately open the door to start the EGC, and I go look for the hatch in case I can either get points closing it or at least deny one of them the extra points for escaping through it.

These types of survivors often do not like being ignored and find working on gens boring, plus you're denying them Altruism and Boldness points, so you're hurting them in more ways than one. Sucks that your time is wasted, but once you're standing at the gate you can watch YouTube or read a book or something while you wait for them to finish the gens. If these matches happen constantly and you're not having any fun, I'd suggest playing at a different time or playing a different game altogether, at least for right now. Matchmaking is supposed to be fixed in the near future so you'll be facing players at your own skill level, and you could come back and see if the game is any better for you then.

This is the best advice on here. I will just add that if the Killer I am playing has NoEd (Trapper kinda needs it for how fast some of these swfs push gens) and there is no hope for me to win, I just go face a corner in the basement. It's funny when they get over confident and come down to tease me and bam! two people are downed and hooked in the basement. It is even more delicious if one of their mates opened the gates and they're on a time limit. Even more delicious if I have Bloody Coil. Muahahahahahahahaha.

  • In order to be safe, I put a Survivor in dying state, m1 the air in front of us and spin in place a few times. I repeat these motions a couple of times and if the Survivor spins on the ground, I pick them up and let them go. That way, anyone who doesn't want to farm can just sit there and get hooked.

As long as you don't force them to farm, you don't have to worry. If they act like it's a normal game, play normally. I recommend you play the beginning of the match as normal and see if they're a bunch of potato solos. If they're not and know what they're doing, don't farm. If they are potatoes, most would appreciate the farm.

  • No, because I am an unloved immersive player. I don't run the meta.

  • I just selected it as the current challenge and played Dwight until I got a Killer who never went far from a hooked Survivor. With the amount of campers there are, it didn't take too long. Calm Spirit would have been nice, but I don't have it on my Dweet.

  • The streamer Ohmwrecker did. I am not a horror fan at all and somehow one of his dbd videos made it into my stream. I was just getting back into gaming and figured I'd watch. I loved it and purchased the game within a week.

I just miss the feeling fear and dread whenever the Killer was near. Now it's just resignation since I am bad at the game with no hope to get better. I still play for fun and enjoy being stealthy.

  • First hour Hag main in Dead by Daylight. Most stuff here should resolve around her. This includes: Gameplay, guides, tips, more gameplay, different strategie...

That guy is an amazing Hag. Just watch his videos to pick up some pointers.

Some things to remember when playing Hag:

    1. Always place traps. If someone trips one, replace it.
    2. Never get into a long chase with a Survivor. It will lose you the game. Your best bet is to hit and fall back. Stay in your territory and work the Survivors to your advantage. Your goal is to hit a Survivor and then down them with a placed trap, not to chase them.
    3. Find a spot with a bunch of gens and trap that area. No need to worry too much about the early gens. They can't win if they can't do the last two.
    4. Make Your Choice is one of the best perks for her. It basically guarantees you a free hook if you use it correctly.

He really did. He's super-creepy, and they go all-in on his awful child abuser history instead of just dancing around the obvious in the original film. I think that made a lot of people recoil, but I would argue that he is supposed to be a repulsive, horrible character, so the movie did its job well in that regard. I think a lot of people are down on Jackie Earle Haley's Freddy because of this, and because they have been trained to expect wacky wisecracking cartoon character Freddy, which this most certainly was not in any way. His version of "I'm your boyfriend now, Nancy" is much, much more skin-crawling than Robert Englund's was, considering the context of the line delivery.

The thing that actually sucked about the movie was Rooney Mara's phoned-in performance, which did a huge disservice to the 1980s' most iconic horror heroine. The story goes that she intentionally tried to bomb her audition, got he role anyway, and turned in the performance she did because she hated horror and didn't want to be known for this kind of thing.

Everything else was pretty great, though. I actually think this is the best Nightmare film that Wes Craven didn't touch at any point (that is to say, Nightmare 3, Nightmare 1, and New Nightmare are the only ones that top this one in my book).

I didn't realize that about Rooney, it's a shame, since I liked her as an actress. Why even audition if you're not interested? Makes no sense.

    • Friday the 13th 2009 - My favorite version of Jason. Hated the overly cringy teenagers tho ick.
    • Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 - idc what anyone says, this movie was tense asf. One of my favorite remakes.

I also liked the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street. I didn’t understand why it didn’t do well enough for a sequel.

Freddy vs Jason was another I enjoyed.

Programming isn't as simple as you seem to believe. Even putting that aside, you can't do weekly balance changes because one week isn't enough to see how the game changes (if at all) due to the changes you made last week.

Have you considered the fact that people complaining about something doesn't mean it's actually broken? People have been complaining about NOED since the game was launched and it's been nerfed twice since then. Even still, the complaints continue.

PS: They used to update quite regularly. Back then, people were complaining about having too many updates.

What was NoEd like before the nerfs?

  • I hate super aggressive teammates who are over confident in their abilities. It usually means they go down before the first gen pops and for me to expect them to unhook me while the Killer is breathing on my hanging body.

  • For me, it depends on my opponents. I am willing to have fun with chill players, but if I smell perspiration throughout the match, then no, I will play to win.

As Killer, after I down someone that is on death hook, I spin in place. If the Survivor doesn't understand what I want, I will m1 the air in front of them and spin several more times. If they spin their body while they're on the ground, I nod several times and leave them there for their teammates to pick them up and let them escape. If they don't spin, they die.

As a survivor, I sometimes try to play Whack a Mole with Killers like Huntress and Mr Cowboy. I'll crouch behind a window and repeatedly pop up as they approach. I will also walk back and forth on the second floor of the saloon while they try to take a shot at me from the street. It is even more enjoyable when the killer lowers their head after they miss.

Not in my experience. This guy definitely is, though.

I admit I may have generalized Killers a bit, since I faced many chill Killers that just want to have fun (if you're reading this Pig Players, I love you all for letting me boop the snoot), but there is a large amount of Killers who play lazily and want easy wins by never breaking sight from hooked victims and are ready to tunnel the second they get free.

Yes, there is such a thing as out of range. The reason why Legions do well is because Survivors clump together. As long as I use my eyes and ears, I can avoid them for most of the match. I usually die because I don't like to abandon my teammates even though they may be potatoes.

I haven't seen that yet, but it sounds truly hilarious.

It happens regularly. Not every day, but more like once or twice a week. More likely on weekend nights when people want to show off to their noob friends how good they are in a SWF.

  • Killers already play as toxic as possible. Nothing new. All you will do is make Claudette players become even more invisible.

  • Yea, some of them even get so aggravated that they DC because I don’t chase them. I then end up farming with the weakest two when it happens.

  • He just needs to bath more with water and not the blood of his victims.

Trapper is fun when you have Bloody Coil equipped. Survivors think twice before touching your traps. Also, if you get one of them in the basement with that add-on, it's nigh impossible to save them if Trapper stays near.

  • I a bad potato in either role so I have everyone!

The worse for me as Survivor is facing Billy and Spirit. They usually end up just tunneling hooks the second someone is saved. I'd rather be face camped by Bubba while gazing into his big beautiful eyes.

Matter of opinion really. I found it cheesey as hell, still enjoyed it though.

No! Your opinion is wrong! Only my opinion, which is fact, is correct! How dare you go against me! Rawr!

In all seriousness, I think it felt a little cheesy because it wasn't a typical horror movie. It was meant to be a metaphor. The old gods were basically us, the viewers and the workers in the facility represent the movie industry. The old gods got tired of the simple old ritual sacrifices and wanted a whole show before the death. The workers in the facility had to produce entertaining ways for the victims to die in order to appease them.

Same as it is with movie goers and the movie industry. Movie goers are not satisfied with the simple stories of older movies due to being desensitized from all the readily available content, thus the movie industry have to work their butts off to please their clientele or risk destroying their careers.

I’m normally against basing difficulty on rank because people will depip on purpose, but fewer slots and less perks available would be interesting.

Do you wanna play against a “good killer,” will all of your options available or go against a potato without BT and DS know that a lot of low rank killers tunnel...

Yes, a lot of low rank Killers tunnel, but in my experience, lots or red rank killers do too.

I just figured that the less perks lower ranks had, the easier it would be for them to get used to and learn the game.

In order to prevent strong players from going against weaker ones, they could just force Players to stay within a higher threshold once they get above let’s say rank 10. So a rank 1 that wants to go back to rank 15 would not be able to go past rank 9.

Again, I’m just pulling these numbers from thin air just to give you an idea. More thought needs to be put into it, but I really think it would make a better system to help new and weaker players to enjoy the game.

1 … 8 9 10 11 12 … 44
