Would u be so kind to explain to me how does it work?

The SBMM which is used for Matchmaking is hidden. There is no way for you to see it. But, it seems like you have done quite well at your previous Rank, when Matchmaking was calculated via Ranks.

The Grades are the numbers you see, e.g. you are Silver 4. Those are just an indicator how much time you spend on the game, you can earn Pips as much you like, but you cannot depip anymore to a different grade. E.g. if you are at your Silver 4-Grade, you can only depip within this Grade, but not to a lower Grade.

Given the fact that you got a lot of BPs and neither of the Survivors got a low amount of BPs, the match seemed to be fairly equal. Neither did you stomp your opponents or you did not get stomped. Which speaks for a working system.

  • I am quite happy that there is a Chapter without a few meaningless Survivor Perks nobody will use anyway.

Yeah but survivors have no way of telling if the killers are bring totems. Also in general decreasing the amount of dulls would be somewhat of a hinderance to survivors as long as the killer doesnt have NOED/Plaything because totems are a decent source of BP and burning what I would assume is a 6k bp offering to remove 1.5k bp seems weird.

I dont think that Totems are really important when it comes to BPs. Those are Boldness-BPs, one of the easiest categories anyway.

They should change them to Survival-BPs, this is stuff we actually need.

    Cote was 100% right

There are so many people that keep playing this game while it is frustrating them. It's bad for them and for whoever they play with

I always play dbd along with another game that i play if i had a bad match and i never get frustrated at the game and enjoy almost every single match.

i personally despise that he had to apologize to those moronic players who if they aren't supervised play themself in unending frustration.

But it was a good refresher of why this is the worst community. It's sad adults needed to be told this. Even sadder that they actually raged out for it.

If people can't see how "if a game is frustrating you play something else for a while" is good advice then those people should probably just step away from games entirelly before they destroy their own mentality and the fun of anyone they play with

    ^ this.

If someone does not have fun in a game, they should play something else. If I notice that DBD is pissing me off, I will not play another game of DBD, I will do something else. There is no point in getting more and more tilted.

    @Topic:

The Patch looks alright for me. SBMM-games are fine. The only thing that bothered me is the bugged Pinhead-Lunge, it really messes me over when I try to lunge around a corner just to realize that it is not possible. But only did two Pinhead-games so far, one was a 0K, one was a 4K.

Other than the bugged lunge, I dont really see anything problematic. (Or at least nothing which bothered me so far)

  • Rank was very poor for Matchmaking. And Grades have exactly nothing to do with Matchmaking at all, even if you have a Grade of Iridescent 1, this does not matter at all for Matchmaking.

You are most likely boosted because SBMM was already calculated while Ranks were used for Matchmaking, so you went against weaker opponents all the time and now you are at a Level where you dont belong. This should resolve itself after some games.

Well to decrease I am pretty sure that its because killers can fill out every dull and having an offering that removes killer perks doesnt sound good.

For decrease the respective Offering can simply not be burned. E.g. if a Killer is running two Hexes and all 4 Survivors burn this Offering, 3 will be burned for the Dull Totems and the last one will not be used.

  • @Friendly_Blendette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2482389#Comment_2482389

Yeah another issue is survivors have 95 perks over triple the 26 perks before hag(I just counted the all perks except TOTH and added 15 so I might be completely wrong on this). Almost of these perks would work as boons maybe soul guard but that is all that comes to mind but people already consider some to be too strong and having to make perks that are stronger than that for boons worries me but considering recent perk history of extremely niche perks I am not too worried.

What I can imagine would be Perks which grant immunity to certain Status Effects. Like, as long as the Boon Totem is lit, you cannot be under the Mangled-effect.

In general, it would be nice if they can give some more variety with the Perks, but they have to be strong when they want to be in the Meta.

Something like Soul Guard was also a possible effect I had in mind, like that you can recover from the Dying State multiple times (maybe not unlimited, but like 3 times in total with a little bit slower recovery), but it gets disabled when the Totem is disabled.

What I dont want to see - existing Perks made to Boon-Perks.

  • I did not notice that much difference. Played one game as Trapper, got a Leon who got hit, wasted a Pallet, clicked his Flashlight, used Dead Hard into nothing and DCed when he was downed.

So I still get those Survivors who are cocky but skip the step of being actually good.

My Billy-game which I had afterwards was amazing tho. 11 Hooks, 3K with Hatch escape, 4 Gens done by the Survivors. Was a close game.

  • @Friendly_Blendette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2482324#Comment_2482324

I would argue a boon should be even less powerfull considering how much easier it is for 4 3rd person camera survivors to find a hex than 1 1st person camera killer finding a boon.

The problem is, Boon-Totems are a horrible idea IMO. You have to make sure that they are stronger than regular Perks, since you have to do something to activate them AND the Killer can take them out, but you also have to keep in mind that there are 4 Survivors and it should not break the game if all 4 Survivors decide to bring a Boon-Perk.

So I am quite interested what the Devs have done, but I dont think those Perks will be worth using.

Clearly with how the game's overall health has been in the spotlight suffering for about a year now, it isn't working out well for them.

Also, I just don't believe them... considering... yeah.

With how many people get excited to get their tri-monthly horror reference and also constantly complain about the state of the game, I can't imagine how many more people would be elated to know that BHVR is taking a break from the new content to just fix stuff.

I mean, I can understand them that new content is important.

Like, for me, the last Killers: Pinhead-->I dont like him, Nemesis-->I like him, I highly dislike Trickster and Twins and I like Blight. So I had half a year with Content I dont really like.

And if we imagine we get 2 Killers each year and those would be Twins and Trickster, for me, it would be 1 year without any Content I enjoy. I would probably still play, but I can also imagine that others will be bored.

  • @DelsKibara said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2482282#Comment_2482282

God, I wish they'd ######### stop with it being 4 chapters and 4 more killers.

We're reaching a critical mass soon enough where new Killers will just feel like bloat.

I mean has anyone seen The Twins lately as a Survivor? How about Nemesis?

    Trickster maybe?

They need to slow the ######### down so we can have more quality killers and more fixes rather than pump out more content faster and faster.

I would also hope that they cut down to 2 new Chapters. Or maybe 3. Because especially the Winter-Chapter is buggy, this happened with Oni and with Twins.

And well, when it comes to new Content - I have every Survivor maxed out and every Killer, aside from Pinhead and his Perks on my other Killers. But, I am pretty sure that the point is not far away where I am not able to fully max out my Characters again before the next Chapter drops. With Survivor it was most likely only possible because of the Anniversary Event.

And I also dont think that we need 12 Perks on each side every year. For Killers you get at least somewhat useful Perks which can work on some Killers (e.g. Starstruck can be used on some Killers). But as Survivor, it is just 3 meaningless Perks every 3 months.

But then - they dont want to do that. And it works out, players might complain a lot about too much Content or lack of Health Chapters, but if you read the Forums after a new Teaser dropped, the people are excited and want new Content.

  • They dont want to do that. They said that their team is big enough to do both - New Content and revisiting old Content/fixing problems.

And they announced that this year will have 4 Chapters with 4 new Killers as well.

My bad, I wasnt trying to intentionally cut off the results. From what I remember, in the top photo I had 1 kill, 2nd photo I had 2, and 3rd I had none. And yeah, while the scores seem high, keep in mind the offerings I brought.

Also, I wasnt trying to say that I'm terrible at the game, just that Im using killers Im terrible with. In the last 12 matches Ive played I probably have a total of like 15 kills.

Offerings dont change the points on the Scoring Board. So the 29k points in the Pinhead-game where what you have achieved.

Your SBMM-Rating should adjust after playing a few games with the respective Killer(s).

  • @konchok said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2482212#Comment_2482212

It did cause problems, do you remember when the early MMR tests did just that, it was just massive smurfing with killers that you rarely played.

    Exactly.

Another thing would be new Killer releases, it is impossible that everyone starts at 0. This would mean horrible Queue Times when thousands of Killers queue up with 0 SBMM-Rating. Let alone that the Survivors will have a horrible time, since they are actually new to the game.

  • If you dont play the Killer often or are new to the Killer, your MMR will be around the same like with other Killers you play often. It will adjust after a few games (obviously you need to play the same Killer multiple times in a row to speed this up).

But looking at the points, 22k and 29k does not look like you had terrible games.

  • @darknesamongusteevee said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2482203#Comment_2482203

Killer is one person, survivors are 4. survivors are able to split up handling hexes and generators, a killer is one controllable entity a time.

Yeah, this was written down in the Forum a hundred times. But your generic answer does not really fit my points, which basically mean "Dont complain about stuff you dont know anything about".

  • When you try out a Killer for the first time the MMR will be around the same of all your other Killers. After a few games it will be adjusted.

You cannot start at 0 with a new Killer, this would just cause big problems.

  • @darknesamongusteevee said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2482182#Comment_2482182

We know killers will be cleansing the blessings, we know the blessings will provide some advantageous effect or otherwise they'd be white noise. What else is necessary to know? An advantageous effect that can be placed in a position of the survivor's choosing, an advantageous effect the killer needs to cleanse to get rid of it, and the killer is only one person who already needs to defend generators.

But you dont know if the Perks will be even good. From experience, Survivors dont get Meta-Perks anymore, so most likely Killers will not have anything to worry about.

And even if a Perk is decent, we dont know how exactly it functions. Like, how long does it take to bless a Dull Totem? Imagine it takes 30 seconds - this would mean that the Perk in Question has to be VERY good. And cleansing them for the Killer might only take like 2 seconds or something like this.

Also, it is highly map dependant, like Hexes. You can have a Map with bad Totem Spawns and then it is questionable if you will get any value out of the Boon Perk or a Map with really strong Totem Spawns (like Dead Dawg).

But personally, I think it is quite funny that Killers are now worrying about Totems, while making fun of Survivors who complain about them. I am waiting for Threads where they complain about Totem Spawns which are too hidden.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Realistically, we need to wait and see how things settle for about a month, but you know, most people are here to share their thoughts.

I just wanted to do some dailies but they were for the killers I main ._.

Sadly this seems to be the only way to solve it. D:

That is one of the issues with SBMM, players who have a Main and are very good with them will have super-long queues.

  • @Aneurysm said:

I've said before they should reverse how regular and overcharge skill checks work. In that way overcharge also becomes an anti-gentapping perk (not just an anti-noob perk) and I don't tell the killer where I am immediately when checking for ruin

    Agreed.

Another favorite of mine is to hide behind a Gen against BBQ. Aaand, Gen explodes because of an auto-failed Skill Check.

  • Seems like you have a high SBMM-Rating. I guess you have to suck it up and wait in a queue for a long time at some point to get beaten down by some tournament squad.

  • @Heartbound said:

I dunno if the game still does this but it used to be that if you tapped a generator that had overcharge on it and ran off, the skill check would follow you and you could hit the skill check while on the run.

Alternatively you could miss the skill check and cause your survivor to explode to intimidate the killer.

    This is still the case.

However, if a regular Skill Checks pops up right when you let go of a Gen, it is just auto-failed. This is in the game for years.

well, not disclosing it is telling a lot by itself. BHVR.... I can only shake my head with them lately

You know, if it really has something to do with the license that they are under NDA?

  • They do both. But people on this Forum fail to realize that "listening" does not mean that they change something, just because someone wants it that way.

We have this with discussions like Exit Gates regressing - people claim Devs dont listen, meanwhile, they already tested it and are actively against it.

  • @MarcoPoloYolo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2481429#Comment_2481429

Then the system serves no purpose and the only positive aspect of the system is non-existent. The point of SBMM and the reason why it's included in casual games is to separate those who don't know what they're doing from those that do. Part of the point of SBMM in DBD (as noted by others) is to give easier matches with the killers you've never used until the user gets better. If you picked up a killer before, you'd face a random assortment of skill levels of survivors while learning a killer. If the baseline MMR is based off of the MMR of other killers, then this means that the game grantees that you will face survivors that you are not ready for until it calibrates, which means SBMM is not properly implemented in the game, period. It's the opposite problem. If it works how you and the OP says it does, you're effectively reverse boosting the survivors if you pick up a new killer.

Your Rating will adjust after a few games. So if you try out a new Killer and get your ass beaten a few times, you will get weaker Survivors.

It is impossible that the SBMM starts at 0 for people who try out new Killers. This would face them against Survivors who just started playing with two obvious problems:

    • You can simply obliterate Survivors with most Killers. Say you know how to play the game as Trapper - you will have an easy time against Baby Survivors with at least every M1-Killer. This would not be fair. The difference in playstyle between Trapper and Pig is not really relevant when going against brand new Survivors.
    • Second, if a new Killer gets released, everyone would start at 0 Rating for this Killer. So the Queue Times would be HORRIBLE when you try out a new Killer because suddenly thousands of Killers with 0 Rating queue up. And brand new Survivors will go against lots of experienced Killer players.
  • @xenotimebong said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2481702#Comment_2481702

True, there will definitely be an adjustment period because of how big of a mess the old ranking system made a lot of games. That’s not the same as placement matches, though.

This is true, but it needs to be adjusted. Like, if I stay at my Nurse, it will take some games until I will not get Survivors with like 7 hours, which was the case during the latest test.

And I guess this will go for every Killer I own that they are either too high or too low (most likely too high, since I am doing quite well with the majority of them). But I only tested Billy and Nurse during the latest test, because I know that I am bad with Nurse and Billy was bugged all the time before when it comes to SBMM.

  • @JohnWeak said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2481656#Comment_2481656

If you play a new killer. But survivors and killers you have played a lot don't need placement matches... They have the datas.

    @xenotimebong said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2481656#Comment_2481656

Unless you have a legitimate source to prove otherwise, you’re wrong. They’ve been gathering data for this. Nobody is starting from scratch unless they’re brand new or haven’t played for months.

But the Data might not be accurate, because it was based on Rank-Matchmaking, not SBMM. So there will be cases where Killers and Survivors are ranked too high or too low.

Like, if I would jump into my Nurse right now, I can guarantee that I will get Baby Survivors, because I sucked hard against average Survivors.

  • They did not give any reason. But that it was under "Changes from PTB" should indicate that it is intentional and will not come back. Otherwise it would be under "known Issues".

  • Just play some games. MMR is online for almost two hours, if you have a higher number of games and still the feeling that the games are too easy or too hard, then you might think if something is not right.

It is entirely possible that the Killers you go against and your own Killers are boosted from Rank-Matchmaking. Or, when it comes to Killers that the players you played against used Killers which have high Rating on Killers which they dont play often, which gets them into Matches with too high Rating until it calculated.

  • Yes, but it collected Data for the SBMM, but the Matchmaking was done via the Ranking-System. So Killers might be boosted currently, because they kept going against weaker Survivors all the time. Now, SBMM is responsible for the Matchmaking, so they will get stronger Survivors.

But this is not the case for OP. In OPs case, his Demo-Rating is calculated based on all the Ratings of his other Killers, so it will be somewhere in the middle of his Ratings. Because you cannot start at 0 when trying out a new Killer, this would be horrible. Whenever a new Killer would be released, Queue Times would be super-long and all Killer players would go against complete new Survivors, until their Rating is calculated.

So if OP plays Demo for the first time, they will get Survivors which are stronger, because Demo has the Rating of all his other Killers. After a few games, Demo will have his own Rating.

  • I mean, I played one game last night (not as Pinhead or against him), and I got DCed because of Steam Maintenance and did not get any penalty.

So from my side, it might actually be off, but I have not read anything about it.

But in general, if Pinhead is the problem, they would most likely not disable him. It would be a really bad move to disable something which the players just bought for actual money.

  • @Triadequinaxor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2480809#Comment_2480809

it is, they all work on a generator thats super easy to complete and the first gen is done in like 20-30 seconds, i dont like this, its not fun

Yeah, but you dont know that Survivors spawning on different Gens is even worse for the Killer.

This shows me that you are not really experienced and most likely it is a "You"-Issue, why you think that Gens go too quick.

  • I mean, you say that anyone who disagrees has not played at Red Ranks and meanwhile you think that Survivors spawning together is bad for the Killer.

  • Ranking was a display of time spent playing the game. This is what grades will be. Players who play more will get a higher grade, this is the only purpose of grades.

    Skill goes into SBMM.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2479443#Comment_2479443

Well, with no map tied to this one, it hardly matters for anyone but new players that don't exist yet.

Eh, I would not say that. There will be players who are happy that Pinhead got released. Before the PTB, nobody even thought about Pinhead having Voicelines and Hellraiser-Fans still were happy.

  • "It just makes me sad that BHVR has to remove or change stuff because license holders want it their damn way"

There is nothing you can do about that. BHVR cannot say "Nah, we dont listen to you, we do what we want". Then you can be sure that they have to pay a lot of money and most likely lose the license.

  • Yeah, in the Teaser, but not in the Trailer.

But you also see David in some Trailers, despite not being one of the "original 4".

  • Nobody wants to see Kates butt getting slapped.

    ... :>

  • I dont care, I think the voice is pretty cringe to begin with. Most likely because I have seen so many immature memes about it.

  • You are long enough on the forums and therefore most likely long enough playing the game to know that this is most likely (like 99,99%) a Bug. And to not have to deal with this Bug, avoid playing Dream Pallets and you are fine until they fix it.

  • It is a Bug that will be fixed. Like, you can really overreact on some things in this game.

  • @IamFran said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2478142#Comment_2478142

If this is true, It's not fair.

    • Killer don't have enough time to search totems and cleansing them, if you are looking for a totem the survivors will do the gens meanwhile.
    • Killer don't have totem tracking perks.
    • You are just one person, meaning you have less chance of finding a totem than 4 persons.

I assumed the boon totem would work for survivor searching the boon totem and breaking it for enabling the perk.

And the comedians of "just cleanse totems" didn't think anyhing about that.

Instead of yelling "It is not fair.", just wait until we know more.

We did not have a Meta-Survivor Perk in years (if we dont count MoM), so you cannot even be sure if Boon-Perks will be good. And then it entirely depends on what the Perk is doing, how long it takes to bless a Totem, how often it can be done per Trial (one-time use and if the Killer removes it, it is gone or if you can bless another Totem).

So many questions, way too early to complain already.

  • If you dont want to play the game with other people you should not have bought it in the first place.

  • I think it is quite funny to imagine that Killers might complain about hidden Totem Spots when they cant find a Boon-Perk.

  • @Gamedozer7 said:

Call it whatever you want. All we know is before Stridor got changed she could hear and after she couldn't.

    And?

DBD is known for breaking things which might have been completely unrelated.

Let alone, what would be the reason for a Shadow Nerf? Usually, Shadow Nerfs happen to avoid getting a backlash from the Community, but this would not work with the DBD-Community, since they claim that something got shadownerfed when it is just bugged.

  • @lemonsway said:

Yeah because not listing something and then saying it was a bug afterall is definitive proof of anything... I do not believe for a second that you change 1 perk and immediatly the only killer making use of it also has a sound problem. We know every killer, better yet, the game, suffers from audio issues so the fact that ONLY NOW did it affect Spirit's phasing is rather curious...

Either the bug was there and Stridor was fixing the issue for Spirit or the "bug" was created after the changes to Stridor but since Stridor is a Perk and not her power then that change should have no correlation to Spirit's ability to track sound while phasing.

It can't be a bug because before the changes to Stridor She could still hear footsteps without using Stridor so the conclusion is rather obvious, she either got bugged at a very inconvenient time or it was an intended change to accentuate the fact that Stridor was important for her. Either way this has backfired on BHVR because now they either fix the bug if there's a bug or they revert the unlisted change.

End of the day we the players still can't prove anything but it's as a stupid situation nonetheless.

Sir, you dropped your Tinfoil Hat.

  • @GrimoireWeiss said:

I don't even understand why people call things "shadow nerfs". If it's not listed as a change, assume it's a bug, it's as simple as that.
