There’s a LOT going on and since we don’t want you to miss any of it, we’ve created this hub to keep you in the know.
Here we go.
-
I would agree. But I am totally fine with keeping No Mither as a hardmode-Perk. However, there are a few things I would change:
- Scrap the Recovery increase, it does nothing. Seriously, the Survivor has a big "Dont slug me"-Sign...
- Injured Noise Reduction 100%. I dont know why they went for 75%, you cannot really get chased with No Mither, so you have to run Iron Will. This would at least remove the need of playing Iron Will when playing with No Mither.
- Bonus-BPs (100%) in Boldness and Altruism. Boldness, because the players is actually bold for using No Mither and Altruism, because the Perk functions in a way that you become the target so that your friends can escape. I dont want 100% Bonus-BPs in total, this would be a nightmare with double BP-Events.
- No Blood Orbs... This should be done anyway, yes, there is the possibility that there are 4 Survivors with No Mither and Oni cannot get his power, but if you get 4 No Mithers as Oni, you should play the lottery right afterwards...
Obviously it would not be a good Perk after that, but it would be better. And still hardmode.

I don't like tru3 but being he the only one who put this on internet, I feel the obligation to show you why. Of course, Spirit is not dead.. Everyone knows that most of the killers are currently at least as bad as Spirit, but she surely is dead at high level right now. She had problems before, she has more problems now. Everyone who neglects that never participated or watched high level competition matches against spirits, take any of the Hexy's DbD tournament and you can see that she struggles.
No offense, but he is not really the most reliable source. Killer stuff is always weak while everything Survivors get is "insane".
Let alone that I think that "High Level Play" is just something people bring up to justify broken stuff in the game.
@Topic:
Spirit is still strong. But she feels more fair now. I dont even think it matters that much that Survivors know where she is, since she is super-fast while phasing. Granted, this is my PTB-experience, which is without proper Matchmaking. And I also did not play many Killer games on the PTB, because of queue times.
-
I am really surprised that we never had a mechanical Killer so far. Also, a medieval Killer (like a Knight) is missing IMO.

Wow what is that fog? Is that how ingame fog used to look like? Why is it gone now
This is the old Fog and I think there was an increase via Offerings. Nowadays you dont really see this Fog. This was a few days ago:
Those were two brown and a yellow Offering burned by the Survivors, you barely notice any Fog.
Back in old DBD™ Fog and Offerings actually meant something.

Nurse is stronger on Console. The platform is a different one, but the game is the same. However, it takes longer and is harder to learn Nurse on Console.
(And there is not really a point in doing so. You can just learn Spirit, which takes far less effort and time for almost the same results)
-
I mean, they said two licenses per year, this would be the third one. So I would be sceptical.
Would say it is a fake.
-
This was actually asked in the latest Q&A:
@TerminatorGuy - "Can we get Myers' old stalking music back for the Killer?"
A really good question. No promises but Patrick is writing it down to discuss with the team later :)
So it might be possible.
-
Short answer: Probably not.
Long answer:
You dont know if the majority will not like it. The playerbase is far bigger than the number of Forum Warriors who complain about SBMM with at least 1 thread per day per person.
But they might tweak SBMM, if they think it needs tweaking. However, I can guarantee you that they will never go back to Rank-based Matchmaking, Ranks are gone and will never be used for Matchmaking again. They dont change a system, remove Ranks and introduce Grades (so that players get used to not having Ranks anymore), just to bring it back at some point.
And, why should they? SBMM, despite far from being perfect, is better than Ranks.
In the end, SBMM being focussed on Kills and escapes even makes sense - you can boil it down to "Good Survivors escape often, good Killers get more Kills". And thats it. Obviously it would be nice to include all factors, but it is impossible in DBD.
Chase Length? How do you want to measure it? E.g. a person who runs a Spirit around for 1 minute is better than someone who runs a Trapper around for 1 minute. So you would make it dependant on the Killer.
Then, someone who uses 2 Pallets in a Chase is probably better than someone who uses 4 Pallets during the same time. But this is not even true, because then we have to check which Map or which Pallets are used.
Survivor A uses 2 Pallets on Shelter Woods, Survivor B uses 4 Pallets on Hawkins. The 4 Pallets probably dont even matter, since Hawkins has so many, mainly unsafe, Pallets. But the 2 Pallets on Shelter Woods can be game-changing.
And even if we have two Survivors who have the same Chase Time while using the same amount of Pallets, their Skill can be different. Survivor A uses the Shack Pallet, Survivor B combines an unsafe Pallet with an unsafe Window. How on earth do you want to make sure that the game knows that Survivor B was more skilled? It is impossible.
Every Map and ideally every Pallet would need its own value. Same would go for Perks, the Killer with 4 Meme Perks should be considered more skillful than the Killer who stacks 4 Slowdown-Perks. Then there are Add Ons, some Add Ons have so much impact... A Clown with two yellow Add Ons is hugely different from a Clown with Pinky Finger.
It would be impossible to balance everything to an efficient MMR-System. DBD will never be completely balanced, so nobody should expect a completely perfect SBMM.
And personally, I think the current system works better. My Killer games are better, I indeed get easier Survivors with Killers I need to practice, which is the main point for me. Like, I can play Nurse and dont have to worry about losing too hard. I dont win every Nurse-game, because I am not good with her, but I dont end up with 1 Hook either. And for Killers, I have some where I get really hard games, but this is fine for me. If I play with Killers I use often, I should expect to go against strong Survivors.
And in fact, those who complain about SBMM did not complain about Ranks because Ranks were just #########. Killers went against Rank 1-Survivors, which, in theory, should mean that they go against the best players. But this was not the case, because the Ranking System has big flaws.
And last but not least - not everyone who thinks they are at "Top MMR EU" or "high MMR" are actually at high MMR. I guess many players just assume that they are at high MMR, because they lost and this must be the only reason why they lost...

There are hexes that don't instantly tell you they exist.
Every Hex will be cleansed immediatly once a Survivor spots them.

its 1 second slower than before
old cooldown addons were 8 seconds + 6 seconds for a 14 second reduction or 16 second cooldown
new cooldown addons + base cooldown is 6 + 4 + 3 for a 13 second reduction or 17 second cooldown
If you use the yellow and brown Add On it is even 1 second faster than before.
Either way, you cannot really call it a Nerf at all. It was a Buff to his base recovery and the Add Ons got indeed nerfed to compensate for this like it is done all the time with every Killer (e.g. Wraith, when they buffed his Basekit Speed).
@Topic:
Probably Add On-Reworks. Aside from Recovery most stuff is not really useful. But I hope that they also do something to his really bad mechanic.

Because Boon totems gives Survivors more of a reason to seek out dull/hex totems.
Don't act like that Hexes don't become weaker just because of Boon-Totems. They do, and it's very obvious how.
Survivors already have enough reasons to cleanse Hexes. The reason to disable the respective Perk is already enough. You are acting like if Survivors go to a Gen, see Ruin and are like "Yeah, its fine".
-
@Kurri said:
How about the fact you can bless a Hex perk, making the Killer lose that perk for the entirety of the match, but then still rebless any dull totem even if the killer snuffs the totem.
Why even run Hex perks anymore?
What do Boon-Perks have to do with the viability of Hex-Perks? If Boon-Perks would not exist, they would cleanse the Hexes. Boon-Perks or not, a Hex which is found will be cleansed.
So dont act like Hexes become weaker just because of Boon-Totems.
-
Killers complaining about Survivors never giving Kills, now they give Kills and Killers complain...
But eh, have not experienced that. Maybe it will increase for a short amount of time because of the information of the Dev-Stream, but I dont think it will be a long lasting trend.
-
I think the current customizations are fine. The only thing which I wish for would be to turn on/off Backpack-Items like Backpacks (yes...), Kates Guitar and all the other stuff.
But overall, I am alright with just having Head/Torso/Legs for Survivors and Head/Body/Weapon for Killers.
Not every game needs Code Vein-like customization.

That's just the tip of the icebeeg, there are many other things survivor are mentioning on fb on forums, twitter etc. But when god forbid killers say what they don't liek or what they want we get sent to the chopping block. Stakes and torches are brought out
Ah, you are the guy who suggested that Killers should have 8 Perk Slots, 4 for the majority of the game and 4 others for Endgame...
Well, Killers complain here all the time. And most of the time they hit an echo chamber.
But honestly, if we would open a Thread about every dumb complaint of a Survivor Main or Killer Main, the Forum would drown in those. One guy is saying that the Tombstone should be heavily nerfed, so what?

And you think the game would be miserable, unfun or unfair if Tombstone would be nerfed?

IMO those are not really Hackers. They just use Cheat-Tools which can be downloaded, Hacking actually requires more Skill than that.
They are Cheaters. (But calling them Hackers would be more correct than calling them Modders, this is for sure)

Survivors burn as much their "soon-to-be-nerfed" stuff as killers. We saw it with Instaheals back then. That's normal player behaviour and not tied to a role.
I did not see many Instaheals back then when the Nerf was announced.
On the other hand, the number of Alchemist Ring-Blights when they announced changes to his Add Ons (and not even nerfing Alchemist Ring) was very high for some days.
-
IMO Moris needed the immediate Nerf way more than Keys. Killers are more likely to burn through their "soon-to-be-nerfed"-Stuff. Let alone that Moris were way more common than Keys (which is logical, given that the Ebony Mori is the most common one and Killers get so many BPs).
When it comes to Keys, I have the feeling (to make sure - only a feeling, I have no information at all) that this is more like a pushed-through Nerf instead of what they actually planned. Same like "Keys dont open the Hatch without Charges", which was just a reaction of the mechanic change of Franklins Demise.
So I guess their initial plan to nerf Keys was a different one.

Theres no problem with last gen consoles, both hardware and software wise, the PS4 and Xbox outperform most peoples modern hardware. No excuse for why this game does poorly on those consoles.
And what is your point exactly? They wont optimize the game for a 2v6/2v8-mode nobody would play.
-
Hot take: Nobody would play a 2v6 or 2v8 mode after a very short amount of time.
Solo Survivors wont play it at all. Why should you risk to play with 5 or even 7 players who dont know what they are doing, when playing with 3 is already too annoying? So, there will be many SWFs playing this mode.
And Killers are already bitching about SWFs, but they will probably go against SWFs all the time.
Let alone that you need to balance it so that two Killers cannot break the game by any way. And again - players are already complaining about 1 gamemode, what will happen if there are more than one gamemode?
Last but not least - the reason why there are only 2 Zombies was because more might be problematic, because too many entities are in the Trial. This is 7 at max (4 Surivors, Nemesis, 2 Zombies). In 2v6 you would have 8. In 2v8 10 entities. +2 for a potential Nemesis.
Do you want to kill last Gen Consoles immediatly?

o__________________________________________________________________________o
I mean, yeah. She is unique in being a witch, but not because of the amount of Cosmetics.

Aside from it being leaked info - new original Characters are usually released with a lot of Cosmetics and Recolors. So this is nothing surprising or does not really make her unique.

Whoever thought making killer look for totems is a good ideea, they definetly dont play the game.
Expect a lot more tunneling and camping from killers because of these boon totems.
"Expect a lot more tunneling and camping from killers..:" is basically the one sentence which is brought up whenever anything for Survivors is released (despite how bad it is) or when something on the Killers side is nerfed.
At this point I believe that it is some threat which Killer Mains want to bring in hope that the Devs change their mind.
-
23k hours are like 12 hours per day on DBD since release. I highly doubt that those players actually played that much.
Let alone at some point you will not get better, regardless how many hours you play.
-
An early game mechanic was not needed anyway IMO. It does not really matter if a Killer loses one or two Gens early, the first Gens dont really matter at all.
So I am quite happy that they did not go on with that, because it would probably mean that there would be a very oppressive Slowdown-Meta afterwards (because Killers would still not let go of their Slowdown-Perks since stacking Slowdown is the easiest way to play DBD), which would be followed by Nerfs for those Perks which would create another outrage on the Forums which would just be tiresome.
I am more interested how those Early Game Mechanic-ideas will be molded into their concept for Moris and Keys, because early game and Mori is not something I would like to hear together.

-opening the door doesn't matter when the game is extended another 2 minutes if you get a down or hook.
- of course it's not holding the game hostage. It's prolonging the game more even thought is suppose to be ending it. It's ironic l the timer increases/is slower.
Yeah, but even at max timer, once the gate is open, there is a maximum of 4 minutes and then the game is over.
Before EGC existed, there were situations where Survivors were running around the Map and hiding. Or Killers just blocking Survivors into the Corner until they DC.
This cannot happen anymore. As I said - at maximum 4 minutes.
-
"- it only exists to stop the get being held hostage, but does it very poorly. (99 the door, extended timer). What's even the point?"
99ing the Door-->Killer can open it.
Extending the Timer-->Game is not being held hostage, there is an definite end at this point.
EGC is not there to give the Killer anymore Kills. Your idea would favor the Killer.
-
Really bad idea and you did not put much thought into it.
Like, NOED alone... While I think NOED needs changes, at least the Killer sacrifices a Perk Slot for the majority of the game. With your idea, the risk would not exist, you can run the strongest Perks and still have lots of Endgame-Stuff.
You can use Ruin, Undying, Tinkerer and BBQ the whole game and get full benefit from those Perks and then switch to NOED, Bloodwarden, No Way Out and Remember me to have full benefit of those Perks when it matters.
Equipping the Killer with 8 fully functional Perks all the time is a really bad idea.
-
"Survivors:(Chase time+10*amount of gens being done before getting hooked)/(pallets used before getting hooked+amounts of hits taken before getting hooked)"
What about a Killer using Spirit Fury/Enduring vs. a Killer who is not using those Perks? Did the Survivor play worse, just because they did not know the Killer used Enduring/Spirit Fury?
What about the Map? Using 2 Pallets on Hawkins or The Game means nothing, using 2 Pallets on Shelter Woods can be game-changing.
Those are two easy examples which would make your calculation also not really represent Skill.
I dont think that going for Escapes/Kills as a method of matchmaking is the best way to do. However, you can boil it down to: "Good Survivors escape often" and "Good Killers get many Kills". And I highly doubt that there will be an increasing number of players who just wait until their team died and the Killer closed the Hatch to hope for a Gate Escape to increase their MMR.
And overall, it somewhat seems to work. Killers are complaining about high MMR-Survivors, yet they only seem to escape often. But apparently they are also good.
Ranks were not really a good system to track Players Skill and current SBMM is also not perfect at all. And you cannot really get an accurate system to work, there is way too much RNG in this game (see above, Maps)... And Builds influence it as well, if a Survivor extends a Chase via Dead Hard, it does not mean that they are better than the guy who does not use any Exhaustion Perk. Same for Killers, if I go against Clown with Pinky Finger and a Clown who uses two yellow Add Ons, this is a difference like night and day.
For my games at least, the SBMM works. My teammates are at least not worse than before and my Killer matches are neither sweaty (because I dont play sweaty) nor do I stomp Survivors (like it sometimes happened before).
I also highly doubt that the game will be dead at the beginning of the next year.
-
Boon Totems will do nothing to Hexes. I dont even get how there is a conjunction for some people, sure it is more beneficial to bless a Hex, but otherwise the Hex would be cleansed anyway.
I dont even think that many players will use Boon-Totems with the changes they announced in the Stream.
-

Basically this. Legion can never be a good Killer with their current Kit or it will break the game.

But can't you see that BHVR has no one else to blame but themselves? They put themselves in this situation when they deliberately ask people to give them questions, then pussy foot around when it comes to giving an answer to a question they requested. And then suddenly it's on US that they're so cagey? No.
Why even have a "Q&A" stream when they aren't even committed to giving an "A" in the first place?
So they should not do any Q&As then?
And you can be sure that the people who answer those questions are not to be blamed. Those get the permission to answer stuff or not. And if someone at BHVR who decides that does not want a question to be answered, this is all they can do.

WE've been waiting on Crossprogression for ages, for prestige rewards to be reworked, for a rework of the grind for over a year,
Because stuff gets changed. E.g. there will be nothing for the early game (and is not needed in my personal opinion). But if they would have brought out their plans and scrap them, the criticism would be at least as big as when it is a "Soon".
And probably NDAs.

The issue here is half of these are non-answers. It's meant to be a Q&A, we want to know what's going on with planned and promised changes that has been announced over A YEAR AGO.
Yeah, and when they dont answer them, players will open Threads "My very important question got 500 Upvotes and they did not answer it!!!111".
Again, they can only lose on that one.
-
And if they dont include the questions they have no answers or cannot talk about, people will also complain.
The Devs can only lose there.

To me the survey won't really mean anything unless everyone get the same questions apart from the ones that require you answered yes on a previous question like the ones about multiple platforms or Discord.
They probably dont want to ask all the questions in one Survey, because it would be super-long. So one part gets Survey A, one part Survey B. In the end, there will be enough people who answered the questions anyway.
-
Grades have nothing to do with Matchmaking. And seeing that you got 23k points and a 1K, the game probably did not went that bad.

Yes, Tome 3 Level 3 - "Interrupt and grab two Survivors while they are working on a generator and you are using the perk Discordance". Should be done in one Trial.
I know players who got this in "legit" ways, but it was one of two challenges where I farmed, simply because I did not want to deal with the inconsistent grabs.

But does it give specific strengths that solos would not have against that one killer?
You have the coordination everywhere but using @Aven_Fallen's doctor example does not affect doctor in any real way. The survivors don't suddenly gain a blanket immunity from Static Blast.
To use a different example, Pig. Players can call out their position, which for a stealth killer is substantially worse for them.
Or to use the actual example from the question, Pinhead. SWF can coordinate boxes with others on their team and so they have an advantage vs Pinhead that solos would not normally get through being on comms.
I hope this made sense.
Exactly. The Killers I had in this Survey were Pinhead, Doctor, Nurse and Hillbilly. And out of those, IMO only Pinhead is influenced by SWFs. Of course every Killer is influenced, but focussing on their ability, it only really affects Pinhead because of the reason you wrote.
-

How do you answer this question to say "Yes SWF helps against this killer"
This question is not that hard to understand.
E.g. Doctor - does SWF change anything from Doctor? Do the players not get shocked suddenly? Doctor has the same ability against SWF like he has against Solos.
-
Players on this forum tend to call Challenges impossible when they require a little bit of effort and cannot be done in one game. IMO no Challenge so far was impossible.
Some were pretty hard tho, like being at a Gen which gets completed 4 times in a game while using Dark Sense. Or getting two Gen Grabs in one game, simply because Grabs are broken and often enough dont work.
-
I dont see many Keys to be honest since they announced the Nerf. And in general, I saw Moris way more frequently than Keys, I see Keys maybe once or twice a week, but I saw Moris on a daily basis (at least one, most of the time more like 2-4 each day).
-
It is possible IMO. I dont think that Hoarder is that problematic. Strong on Pinhead, but this mostly means that you cannot just keep the Box and have to make sure that you are far away from him when picking it up.
But as I said, it is possible that this gets changed, because the Box is more like a Killer Power instead of an item.
However, I am pretty sure that they will nerf Engineers Fang. This Add On is too strong and I dont really know what they were thinking.
-
Oh no. Survivors use good Perks. hopefully all those Killers with their Meme-Perks still have an enjoyable game...
-
@JustWhimsical said:
I mean dead hard is arguably more powerful and useful in situations since it's on-demand while you have to do some setup with sprint burst to make it on demand. Also even if dead hard gets nerfed let's be honest both were meta perks before and the only reason people use sprint burst less is that dead hard can give more value a lot of the time, especially in cases where you are injured unhook the survivor with borrowed time and dead hard through them, saving both you and the other survivor, you can't do that with sprint burst.
Sprint Burst is stronger and this is not even a discussion IMO. Sprint Burst makes every area safe, this is not the case with Dead Hard. You can be in the biggest Deadzone, DH does exactly nothing, Sprint Burst means you are safe. Let alone that it is more frustrating to see Survivors sit on a Gen until the very last second, just to see them zoom off without any risk at all.
When Balanced Landing got nerfed, the players replaced it with DH or Sprint Burst (and some probably with Lithe), if DH gets nerfed, there would be so many Sprint Bursts, it would not be funny at all.
