Thanks for doing the math, but I think you're underestimating how often it's actually beneficial to be in a locker. Not all of those seconds are going to be "wasted". Also, a green item, yellow addon, and brown addon really doesn't make for a hard to stockpile setup.
"but I think you're underestimating how often it's actually beneficial to be in a locker."
You are one of my Solo Queue-Teammates, eh?
-
What you see are not Ranks, those are Grades. You gain Grades via Pipping, however, you cannot depip out of a Grade you already reached (lets say you reached Gold 3 and would lose a pip with 0 Pips on Gold 3, you would not depip, you would stay at Gold 3).
Grades are not used for Matchmaking and they do not display skill, they basically show how much someone is playing.
A hidden MMR-System (Skillbased Matchmaking) is used for Matchmaking purposes, so the players might have higher Grades than you, however, they should be roughly on your level with skill.
-
It will not be Meta and it will most likely not be useful. What many people seem to forget - you have to spend 12 seconds in a locker. And you dont teleport to a locker, you have to go to one locker, so even if you are on a Gen very close to a locker (lets say Shack), you will probably spend 2 seconds in and out, so 16 seconds in total.
Toolboxes are not really worth it at this point, you wont save as much time as you waste in the locker.
You can refill Medkits basically two times (1x99, 1x66+1x33). However, how often to people actually heal with Medkits in a Trial? Whenever I brought a purple Medkit with extra Charges and Speed (so 48 Charges aka 3 Heals), I did not use it completely.
It is unrealistic to think that Survivors will heal 5+ times during a Trial with Medkits.

Workshop grease and Vanity Mirror is basicly the same as before.
Vanity Mirror has the Movement Speed-Penalty removed, which is kinda huge. Before there was no point in using it over Scratched Mirror (Vanity Mirror: 2% more Movement Speed and a normal lunge, but only 16m Aura Read and a TR, while Scratched Mirror had 0m TR and 32m Aura Read and the lunge could be somewhat dealt with by using Boyfriends Memo).
-
This was basically my reaction as well after I checked the actual numbers on the wiki.
-
Aside from what @Nomadd said:
Yes, all Boon-Perks of a Survivor will be tied to one Boon-Totem. But I dont really know why this should be bad at all. The Killer will only have to remove 1 Blessing instead of going for multiple Blessings to deactivate multiple Perks.

Holy crap workshop grease do be looking exquisite.
It is the same like the current videotape, just with actual numbers instead of "Moderately".
-
Not a fan of the Nurse Add-On. Yes, her current Iridescent Add-Ons are Trash, but she should never have more than 2 Blinks. If they want to change the Add-On to something useful, they should make something different than giving her 3 Blinks.
-
If they nerf further Survivor-Items they should really delete some stuff completely. Cannot be possible that Survivors have over 60 different things in their Bloodwebs which are mostly rubbish, just to get a few good things nerfed.
At least remove some Junk like Instructions, bad Key-Add-Ons, bad Map-Add-Ons and bad Flashlight-Add-Ons.

Not at all, when the killer knows where the hatch is, they know if they can reach it before the survivor is considered dead. Getting to the hatch nearly guarantees you can shut it regardless of whether the survivor hangs around it or not. Now I don't have that choice of finding the hatch while you still get to play the game. If I want to guarantee you don't get it, I can no longer just look for it, I have to slug you. Especially with the fact that the hatch still spawns invisible in matches and you can find it by walking over it, which is a hell of a lot easier as survivor.
I dont know if it really matters if I die because the Killer slugs for the 4K or if I die because the Killer knows exactly where the Hatch is.
-
But... the Survivor would also been able to see the Hatch first? So, the Killer would slug regardless nowadays.
There will not be much changes to slugging for the 4K IMO. Killers already do it because they think they "deserve" the 4K and they will continue it, but it wont really increase.
In the end, the Killer has all advantages to find the Hatch first.
-
Not a big fan of the Pig Add-Ons.
Video Tape-->Mainly because it was an Add-On which focusses on her Ambush before. I think she needs more love for her Stealth and Dash and not so much for her Traps. I hope there are other Add-Ons for the rest of her kit.
Interlocking Razor-->I dislike Add-Ons which mess with Skill Checks. They only really affect inexperienced players and dont do anything against players who are able to hit Skill Checks basically all the time.

Yeah no my point is just, those perks don't need to get activated by performing some action, so I am hopeful that the devs will make these boon perks strong enough to warrant a perk slot.
But we'll have to see. New perks in general have the tendency to be underwhelming power wise. The Resident Evil chapter had a few good survivor perks, and Pinhead came with two decent perks and one very good perk, so I am still hopeful.
"Good" is relative, I consider "fun" Perks not really good for the most part. (I think you are referring to Blast Mine and Flashbang)
And hopefully the Boon Perks will at least be worth the time to bless a Totem. However, for me, the Perks must basically be OP so that I would run them. I am not running Hex-Perks for years as Killer, simply because I dont want my Perks to be disabled, so I will probably not start to run Totem-Perks as Survivor.
And I highly doubt they will be OP. (Because the Devs need to keep in mind that 4 Survivors can have them)
-
Body is 1 character too short.

I mean perks like dead Hard or Borrowed Time exist.
I am still optimistic that these perks will be strong enough. But of course they can't be as effective as hex perks because they can be reactivated.
Those got released over 4 years ago. So my hope is not really high to get actual good Perks.
-
Overall, Part 2 of the Developer Update is great.
I just want to nitpick a bit:
No Mither-->Just give it 100% Noise Reduction already. You cannot really chase with No Mither, at least you would not have to use two Perk Slots to be 100% silent, because you would not need Iron Will with 100% Noise Reduction. Would gladly trade the increased recovery Speed for that, you have that big "Dont slug me pls"-Sign anyway.
Deathslinger-->I would have given him a Lullaby instead of a TR-increase. Increasing his Terror Radius is fine, I did not understand why he is the stealthiest guy around anyway, considering that both Huntress and Trickster got a Lullaby. So I would have kept the 24m TR to just keep it consistent with his movement Speed, but would add some Lullaby (maybe a whistle?). But again, this is just nitpicking.

I hope so, otherwise it will be a pain to play against. No MoM n.2 please, we had that already, didn't like it then, won't like it now.
Na, dont worry. Survivors will get bad Perks, like always.

But why would you take a perk with long activation conditions unless the effect was amazing when there are perks like DH or BT.
I think the fact that the perks are basically equivalent to hex totems (high risk, high reward), they effect are supposed to be very good.
Their risk is not high if you can bless another Dull Totem. So they will probably not be good.
-
@Jago said:

Now its stated.
This is correct.
But this just increases my suspicion that the Perks will be really mediocre at best. Because the argument for Hex-Perks "They can be strong because they can be removed" cannot be used anymore for Boon-Perks, which speaks against strong Perks.
-
Nothing states that they can light it up again.
But being a Dull Totem again does not remove it for NOED or as Side Objective after removing the Blessing.
-
What does that matter if it is the last Survivor anyway? At most they can teabag at the Hatch before going into it, but this is whatever.
-
Players who play a Build like that dont have fun but just play to annoy the other side.
Yesterday I had a few Killers who decided to play as annoying as possible. I dont mind strong Builds, I mind being an ######### just to ruin other peoples experience.
And players who decide to just run Knock-Out and Slug into Bleedout are only doing it to be a pain for the other side. And you have to really question their mentality, if someone only plays a game to ruin it for others, they really have some issues.

Even if killers were given a chance to put their totem in any location it seems like it would not work well. Killers always say they don't have time to do things but having to find the best totem spot would surely waste a lot if time since you aren't given the location of dull totems. And if you are given the location of the totem level it still wouldn't work. It's still being left up to rng since you have no control over where the best dull totem spot will be at, also if a survivor notices you putting down your hex totems then it makes all the effort you went to to hide the spot wasted since they will know the location. So having killers Pic the spot seems like a big time waste.
@R2k said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2522512#Comment_2522512
It won't work on killer. Any survivor can find out where killer placed his totem based on his terror radius. Picture this - u went into basement or shack on on 2nd floor or any other place we already did gen, there's literally nothing there u need to defend, so i can assume u placed your hex there.
On other side, if u don't pressure early on, gens will fly away.
Exactly, this is another point.
Some time ago it was a trend that the Killer was checking their Hex-Totem right at the start of the Trial (this does not happen that often anymore). This alone gave the position away often enough, because if I see a Killer wandering into some Corner, I know what is going on.
Same would happen with Hex-Totems, if they would be able to place it. Searching for a Spot, taking time to activate the Hex, only for a Survivor to cleanse it shortly afterwards, because they saw the Killer going there.
-
I mean, Survivors will have to spend time searching for a Totem and time to bless it. If Killers would be fine to run around first to activate the Hex on an existing Dull Totem (during the Trial obviously, to bring it in Line with Boon Totems), why not? But I guess people will cry that the Killer has no time to do that...

Tell your...friend...that I appreciate the tip, but I rather lose my hands before I use that offering.
Yeah, I mean, ...my friend... only uses it because two story buildings are consistent. Hills are not, it depends where you jump down from the Hill, the highest spots count, the lower ones not, even if they trigger Balanced Landing.
I also dont think the Harvesters count, at least they did not before the graphical Rework.

I'm of the group of gamers that wants their game to be challenging not hand holding. The amount of times you would have seen that build is very small. If at all at lower ranks. not only that you need a killer that can capitalize off of the build and not get rng screwed with the totem spawn. Which was worse back then. It was a meme build and you went in not expecting to win.
So you want one challenging thing in a game which is super-easy to pick up and play for everything else? Its not like DBD is hard in any way, but something like Lullaby affecting Madness Skill-Checks (which were the only Skill Checks aside from Healing and Gens affected, because neither Jigsaw-Boxes nor Cages were affected by Lullaby during this time) is just something which is hurting the experience of new or inexperienced players.
And those should also be able to play the game.

how hard is it to watch for a skill check? thats laughable. I've played against the build it takes no effort. Its the whole point of the build. How about we dont nerf things based off of people who cant play the game? lol
Glad that you are not developing games. New players are always needed, and you can expect that someone who cannot play the game because they go against a Doctor using that Build will not have fun and probably wont touch the game again.

nah thats almo who nerf huntress lulleby after it annoyed him one match playing against doctor lmao. completely destroying lullaby synergy for him
The Lullaby-Change was a healthy change. There is a big difference between Lullaby being annoying because the Gen keeps blowing up and not being able to play at all because you cannot snap out of Madness.
Not every players is experienced.
-
Nah, apparently it should be the maximum stagger or something. Balanced Landing activating does not grant a Point for the Challenge, those are different.
Just burn a few Haddonfield-Offerings, the houses are enough. I know this because... a friend... is doing that.

but it's not too strong... You may be looking at the top point something percent of blights..... in which I say if we can't nerf survivors because it's just a small percentage that are death squads then we shouldn't do it to an even smaller percentage of the community.... because like 80% of blights will land like 3 lethal rushes in a game...
I mean, with that logic, we can bring back Omegablink and Iri Heads, because the majority of Killers are really bad at the game.
I used Alchemist Ring when I went for my Adept (I did not get it yet, but I only tried it at Red Ranks so far) and the difference between not having it and running it is huge. And I am certainly not very good with Blight.

Pre nerf mom? Deliverence? Soul Guard? Inner Strenght? Counterforce(it is a good perk imo)? Resurgence? Built to last? Desprate measures? Windows Of Oppurtunity? Aftercare?
Just because a perk isnt the best of the best doesnt mean its not a good perk. Like then have killers not had good perks since Plague? No there has been plenty of good perks and fun perks just because they arent the very best perks doesnt mean they arent good perks. A perk can be good without being the best. If anything that a perk has remained the best for several years it shows that it needs a nerf.
How often do you see those Perks? Survivors only get "fun" Perks like Head On or Blast Mine, but not really Perks that may become Meta. I guess you can play 100 games and check the Perks of the Survivors. I bet, all of those you mentioned combined will be less than one of the Meta-Perks (lets say Unbreakable, which is probably the least used Meta-Perk).

Are we at a point where we still use average level play as a basis for all balance changes, and totally disregard people not being bad at the game? Yes. Yes we are. Killers win games in 3 mins against low skilled survivors, or when the survivors make big misplays. As killer, you can make no mistakes and still lose because the survivors control the outcome of chases. On survivor, If I mess up on a mind game or, loop, I just hit my mouse button and I dash forward to a pallet and I'm safe 99% of the time. On killer if the first survivor you find can run and makes none or hardly any mistakes, you are most likely going to have 3 gens pop for your fist hook. You don't win games against competent survivors in 3 mins like ever. So please stop acting like it is a common occurrence because we both know it's not.
So, if a Killer wins in 3 minutes the Survivors were just bad.
If the Survivors win in 3 minutes, it is impossible that the Killer was just bad, no, the game is fundamentally broken and because of those Edge Cases, there need to be massive changes.
Sigh.
-
IMO this would remove some depths from the gameplay, especially on Survivor Side. It would buff Stealth Killers, however, I think it is a neat mechanic that Survivors can see Crows to see a Stealth Killer approaching, this actually encourages awareness instead of just slapping on a Perk (Spine Chill) to deal with Stealth Killers.
-
As @Phasmamain has already said, Thana is only really good on Plague and Legion, Killers who can keep Survivors injured for a longer period of time.
If you want Slowdown, you should look at Sloppy Butcher. This is not directly linked to Generators, however, the extra time they spend Healing is still less time they spend on a Generator. And for Oni it has the side effect of more Bloodorbs, because the Survivors are longer injured (more Bloodorbs because of the longer healing time).
-
Oh, its you...
I dont really think his tentacle is that bad. He can hit over Pallets and Windows in Animation Locks (like PH does). And his Cooldown is not as punishing as PHs, but the tentacle does not go through walls. Which is alright.
-
I mean, you basically have to run this Add-On with the Iridescent Stone, but it is a huge time saver at the start of the game if you start with 8 Traps immediatly. I guess it will be alright depending on the Map you are on, you basically shut down Loops forever.
(But to be honest, I like that they get more creative. And I dont think you will need Bag Add-Ons anymore after they buffed him to carry two Traps and always having 8 Traps total, so it is not really anything "lost")
-
I only have two Killers who dont use Corrupt Intervention (dont use Ruin or PGTW on any of them).
Pig:
BBQ, Enduring, Monitor&Abuse, Whispers
Billy:
BBQ, Whispers, Shadowborn, Enduring

weve a killer that does the same thing but a bit better because she goes through walls but some how the ring is too strong on a character that bounces off walls?
I mean, that something is in the game what should have never existed in the first place (Nurse) does not make other things ok. Nurse should be reworked to a completely different power, but her existence does not justify Add-Ons which are too strong.

We have enough info to know WHAT they are going to be and how they are going to function, which could of course be changed. IF it is a Hex perk for Survivors, the premise alone is terrible. You could have 19 terrible Boon perks and only the single 1 that is really good and worth running would make the game miserable for Killer.
Since 4 years, 100% of Perks released were not Meta. Having 20 Boon-Perks and one of them Meta would be an outstanding performance when it comes to Surivvor-Perks - 5% new Perks Meta!... Not gonna happen.
-
I like the Kill-Switch. It always happens that something breaks and it always gets abused.
Legion Mending Add-Ons bugged resulting in super-long Mending Times? Got abused (and was bannable, but this does still ruin my game, even if the person gets banned for it).
Wake Up bugged to increase every Action Speed by 15% - got abused.
Bamboozle neither making sounds nor showing an Entity Blocker - got abused.
And probably many more. So I like that it can be switched off fast and you dont have to deal with that for a longer period of time until it is fixed.

I said hex or dull not boon ones.Well the thing is that if the scondary objective doesnt affect to gens people xont consider it as secondary
Oh, sorry for that one, I completely misread what you wrote because this Thread is about Boon-Totems.
But regarding cleansing to speed up (or bring to normal) the Repair Speed - IMO this would not really be good. In the end, Totems are also just M1-pressing, but without Skill Checks.
If they ever want to add a second Objective, it should be something like collecting Parts, while reducing the actual time on a Gen (like, you cannot make the Survivors collect Parts and keep Gens at 80 seconds). Because Survivors actually traversing the Map opens options for Killer/Survivor-Interactions.
-
Nope, not a Bug. Intended, was alwaysl ike this. Once the Killer gets the prompt to hook and starts the animation, it does not matter if the Survivor wiggles to the end, hits DS, the Killer gets blinded, etc.
-
I am on the opposite side, I think they are too weak. Simply because no Perk since Dead Hard was actually be able to become Meta (aside from MoM, but this was a Cashgrab). So I doubt that Boon-Perks will be good, HOWEVER, they have to be good, since they are tied to Totems. But then again, not every Hex is good and on top of that, they have to consider that 4 Survivors can have a Boon-Perk, so it will probably be weak by default.
So for me, I like that it is a new Mechanic, but I dont think it will be more than "Ok, three new Perks for your main Survivor which you will not use anyway"...
-
@UnknownKiller said:
And easy solution would be making repair slower when a dull or hex totem exist in the area.
Yeah, I also think that Ruin should reduce the Killers Movement Speed by 5% as long as it is up.
Why exactly should people run Perks which give them Debuffs?
-
Cleansing Dull Totems is a waste of time. It does nothing to your Objective, in fact, you can also just kill your team, because all the seconds you are spending to find and cleanse Dull Totems are just time you are not on Generators. Which can even lead to a point that the Team cannot finish all Gens and then it is not relevant at all if the Killer had NOED or not.
NOED is basically a double-benefit - either the Killer can get it and will have at least 1K extra OR the Killer gets massive Slowdown because Survivors do something which is not their Objective for a Perk the Killer might not even have.
-
Why do people keep talking about high MMR when they are not even at high MMR? The number of Killers who will go against actually really strong Survivors will be very small.

Almost every single game. It's the same experience every game with generators being down in five minutes, every survivor running some form of exhaustion perk while holding W extra early to make it take minutes to down them. Just look at the killer streamers, like TrueTalent for example, every game he has is a 2-4 hook game and its miserable

I wonder why some people find it so difficult to simply.. wait a few more days before panicking about a change they have next to no information on. Is it exciting to jump to worst case scenarios in your head or something?
This is DBD. Every Patch Killers claim that one Survivor Perk will be OP, and it never was. Survivors did not have good Perks since David was released, this will not change with Boon-Totems.
And even if, they can complain once they are live. But it is just silly to complain about something which is not even released at all.
