Yeah they released a trailer for it as well. It looks so sick.

    Just watched it haha

I like that one, too (though Hector pissed me off almost all the time 😆)

I’d recommend trying Cobra Kai. It’s a great show and I love it so much. Season 4 comes out on New Year’s Eve confirmed.

I really like that show. Didn't know Season 4's release date had been confirmed yet. Thanks for that!

I was rude it wasn't becoming of me and for that I apologize.

Well that was very kind and mature of you . . . ❤️ Thank you.

If you'd like to answer why you have the opinion you do about "grabs," I'm all ears. If you're having a bad day and don't think you can explain yourself well right now, understood.

I hope you have a good rest of your day.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/283100/is-grabbing-a-survivor-broken

Don't sit on the generator until you get grabbed, don't stand near me when your at a window or pallet. How can a killer main make your day any easier my precious Survivor?.

First of all, lose the attitude. It's a question (worded very politely), meaning there's supposed to be a conversation about it, where you can share your opinion in a rational and thoughtful way. You are welcome and supposed to explain why you feel a way so that perspectives can be understood. I like to hear other people discuss why they hold an opinion, because I like to learn and listen. Doesn't mean I'lll agree, but I'll at least give enough respect to listen.

Regarding the specifics you mentioned, I won't repeat myself out of redundancy, but I addressed that in a different response.

Lastly, referring to me as a "precious survivor" wanting my day to be made easier is a straw man argument. And quite simply, you are wrong. I like strong Killers. I like the challenge facing them poses. My favorite Killer to face is a PC Nurse for that reason. Do not equate having a conversation about balance with being a "precious survivor" needing their day to be made easier. You're taking your negative experiences with others out on me. That's uncalled for. If you want to calmly explain why you feel a way, I'm all ears. If not, then don't.

For me, I went on a trip to Seattle a few months ago. Having never left the Midwest, it was a completely new environment to me and I loved it. Just the drive there made it worthwhile, I had never seen a mountain in person until that point, I had never seen a city of that scale in person, and I had never seen greenery like I saw once I got into the Pacific Northwest and out of the corn hell that made up half of the drive.

    Ahhh the Midwest. My birthplace.

Hard to say, but so far I guess I'd say either Hawaii or Italy.

Or you can just not hide in a locker, sit on a gen without paying attention, or cleanse a totem without paying attention.

    Pay attention.

Disagree that it is a matter of simply paying attention. For one, stealth Killers are designed to get the jump on someone. It should be difficult for Survivors to notice them. Two, getting grabbed does not boil down to the Survivor simply not paying attention. A lot to the time, grabs happen because of latency. A Survivor can try to exit a locker, get off a gen, or stop doing a totem, but the Killer's grab action takes precedence over their action. (Ex: I have been physically standing up because I ceased the gen-repair action but have gotten "grabbed" off a gen.) You could say, "Well why not get off well in advance?" Because that is not always the right action. Sometimes, you need to stick to the gen, or cleanse the totem, or wait for the Killer to be in range for a head-on stun. Timing is an important part of this game. It is a matter of strategy. But all of that comes with a risk. And that's logical. "If I stick to this gen, the Killer might injure me, but I might get it done in time. Do I risk it?" Grabs are different. They are insta-downs, and they happen arbitrarily. Simply being in the middle of an action does not mean you'll get grabbed. Sometimes you'll be injured with a basic attack, other times, you'll get grabbed as a fully healthy person and on your way to a hook. Three, I don't see how someone "not paying attention" equals them getting insta-downed. If they're not paying attention and they're fully healthy, by all means, land a hit. Injure them. But an insta-down not due to perks, power, or add-ons? How is that balanced?

  • @Mat_Sella said:

if you didnt grab them, you'd down them with an attack. either way they're in the same health state.

That's not true. You can grab a perfectly healthy survivor off of a gen or from a window.

I second this second. A trickster anime would be something I would be very interested in, as we slowly see the pressures and pleasures of celebrity life change who the trickster is as a character and speaks on questions of how attention and fame changes a person, and conversely how we put too much faith and benefits (of doubt) into our personal idols who we exalt and venerate.

On the other hand, this also just extends to a general statement where I would also just in general be interested in a Dead By Daylight TV show. Perhaps as an anthology where every episode focuses on a different character, I guess sort of like how the archives are set up now, before diving into a more concrete story that takes place within the realm of the entity.

I do hope that BHVR is working on something like that behind the scenes. If we can have RE games and movies, why not a Trickster anime? Or a DBD anthology similar to "Love Death + Robots" on Netflix?

I second this. For instance, an "Attack on Titan" game could be very cool, but I don't see how it would fit with DBD. However, I'll flip the question and say I would love a Trickster anime. Seeing the people around him slowly get suspicious of his nefarious deeds would be a great story.

The ones on licensed characters are presumably due to contractual agreements on how those characters will be depicted.

The ones on non-licensed characters tend to be outfits that don't have easy separation points at the neck and waist, usually dresses and hoodies.

Some people seem to be convinced BHVR makes certain cosmetics sets for 'no reason' or 'out of spite', which is absolutely ridiculous.

Definitely agree on the licensed character rationale.

Regarding non-licensed, I don't know. For instance, I have the Bunny Feng cosmetic. That is a hoodie, but I've separated the head and worn it with different torsos with no problem.

I would love to see a Scarecrow killer.

A scarecrow would be really cool, though I'm very curious about how it would be coded to move. That alone could completely change the whole aesthetic. The loading into screen (from the Killer perspective) could be the scarecrow attached to some sort of posts and then ripping its limbs off of them, one by one.

Hello, I am a user who mainly plays Killer on Korean and Japanese servers. When I play Killer after the mmr patch, most of the games are only met with survivors of a few thousand hours. So if I pick the walking killers(Trapper, Doctor..etc) I play mostly, there's a high chance I'll catch only one of them and let the rest of the survivors escape.

So these days, I'm playing Survivor instead of Killer, and when I play Survivor, there is a high chance that I can only meet Nurse and Blight. It seems to have become a structure where users with high mmr scores have no choice but to play Nurse and Blight forcibly in the game.

Survivor users with high mmr scores on the Korean and Japanese servers have a high chance to meet nurses and Blight. This makes the game very difficult and uninteresting

What server are you playing on and what do you think about mmr? Are you satisfied with the mmr system?

(I used Google Translate, the sentences or words may be awkward.)

    안녕하세요

I'm in the western US. My games haven't been so good. I've been paired with newer Survivors/Killers, or with a few great Survivors/Killers mixed with some less-skilled ones. I did not play regularly for the last few months, so I think the problem is the algorithm did not have enough data to accurately place me. In time, I hope the algorithm gets enough data so I get placed with similarly skilled people.

Your translation was good! 👍 👍

That entire genre of killers. I like gothic horror and I can't wait for them to start adding in more gothic/slasher mixed villains. Blight and Twins were a nice first step, so hopefully they continue down the realms of gothic horror or even outright Hammer Horror.

Edit: Also, I would love some lovecraftian killers. They would have to be adapted to the slasher medium just the same as gothic horror killers, but I think they could do it.

What other Killers from gothic horror (besides the 3 mentioned) can you think of that would be a good fit? Yeah, I saw someone else say that DBD hasn't gotten Killers like this already because it is a slasher horror game, not gothic horror. But you're right, Blight is more gothic than slasher to me, so maybe they are expanding into that territory.

When you think about it and how there different power would work we already have a Werewolf : Oni. He feed on bloodlust to gain a rage stage and transform into a more powerful form of himself. Sounds a lot like a werewolf.

Mummy is definitly Plague. Comes from Babylonian era and spread disease, same way a mummy killer would curse survivors.

The only one we don't have is vampire, but then it can also get kinda close to Oni's power.

in all honestly i voted too quickly and as i'm writing this is hope it was possible to change your vote so mine could say "All 3"

It's funny you said that, because I read a different comment on a different thread that said Oni was a vampire because he feeds on blood (sucking up the blood orbs).

I think a proper Egyptian mummy will be distinct from Plague, and the power could be tied to sand, locust swarms, maybe even the mummy's cloth wrapping--anything really. I mean, they've been talking about getting Jason and Trapper basically already is Jason. So I hope they get all three, although Mummy is my #1, followed very closely by Werewolf.

And no, unfortunately the poll isn't coded to allow an option to change votes. :( But that's all right. Vampire is your #1 vote, so it's still accurate.

And yet npc zombies and a killer that can actively seperate into two entites and switch between the two at will is too difficult? Sounds to me like they're making excuses.

Edit: A mummy killer would totally be cool too. Though Im not crazy about the prospect of an indoor map it's be neat to run around in a Pyramid.

Granted, they did tell him that years ago so it's possible they could do it now. But I truly don't get why it hasn't happened yet. I'd be okay with a fully formed werewolf as a Killer. If transforming truly is too difficult, then fine. I'd rather have one than none at all.

Agreed, a pyramid would be so cool to explore. Perhaps that could function as a main building, with the rest of the map being outdoors.

oooooooh yeah I forgot about that. The locust swarm could be so cool.

  • @shinobu149 said:

How would the mummy work? I mean I am not against it just curious on what the perks could be and his look, pace and powers.

Honestly, not sure about the power. I've mostly just wanted a licensed chapter from the 1999 movie for years because of the creative aesthetic opportunity. Rick O'Connell would be my new main if they got him. An ancient Egypt map could be so incredible, and the mori could involve scarabs eating you and/or getting mummified.

If they licensed from The Mummy, maybe the power could incorporate sand or his organ jars (an added objective or maybe even a power up?).

  • I want both of those and a mummy (and it has to have an ancient Egypt map).

Regarding the werewolf, the streamer Puppers said he talked about that with the devs years ago (he's been wanting a werewolf for years) and they told him coding a human transforming into a werewolf was too difficult. Now, why they won't just have an already fully transformed werewolf, I don't know. Maybe they will debut one, but only once they have the ability to make it transform over time as opposed to just being a fully transformed werewolf. Or maybe they just don't want to have one. 🤷‍♀️

I really need to let this out. So lately in my personal life I’ve been feeling emotionally down and have been wanting to give up on life. It’s causing me to come here and act toxic towards others which is something I regret. It’s just been rough for me as a lot of things that I’ve loved just don’t seem to exist anymore and there’s too many things overwhelming me to the point where I don’t know what to do. I also feel super lonely every single day which I really have a hard time dealing with. Sometimes I just sit and wonder if I’m actually dealing with some kind of depression or not.

Can anyone please give me some advice on how I can find happiness in my life?

How are you feeling today? Honestly?

  • @DoomedMind said:

    Hey y'all, I hope you're having a great day !

I want to talk about SBMM transparency (obviously). We're all split about its efficiency, some are saying it's better than old system, some are saying the complete opposite, and some just don't know.

And imo, we just don't know if it works or not, we haven't any solid proofs. "Well, why do I have better games than before ? It's a proof that it works, ain't it ?" And some will say the opposite, as I said before, it's not a proof, it's empiricism, an opinion forged with experience, not a proof.

Anyway, we don't know if it works, because we don't know what is our Elo score, how does it increase, and by how much. Why is it a problem ? Let me develop :

    • The fact that we can't see our Elo score is a problem, because we don't know if the matched players have the same Elo score, ie the same skill : maybe we're paired with absolutely random Elo, maybe not. In any competitive game, the league and the Elo is accessible from the other players of the party. You know if you had good mates and / or stronger foes.
    • This one is why I really want some transparency : how does my Elo increase ? It is based on what things ? Are these conditions the same than piping conditions ? Because if it is the same conditions, SBMM will not change anything, it will reward the same gameplay as Ranks did/do. And if the conditions are different, why didn't they just replace the current piping conditions by these conditions ?
    • And that is somewhat related to what I said above this point : if a total victory gives +2 to the Elo, well, it's the same as double piping, but I really hope that the numbers are not the same, that would be an absolute aberration.

That's it for me. I'm not happy with SBMM because of the ambient tryharding atmosphere, and I want proofs only to know if it works or not.

    Hope I'm clear in what I wrote, I'm not a native :x

Our experiences have certainly been anecdotal.

I don't think BHVR will be more transparent, because as someone else said (and I'm putting my own spin on their point), BHVR doesn't have a self-benefitting reason to do so. Personally, I think they'd rather deal with speculative-based criticism of their new system than informed criticism.

  • I made a poll about this, and the most popular individual answer so far is that most people feel they've been matched fairly, but when you tally up all the other answers, most people feel they been matched unfairly (the Killers/Survivors are more skilled/less skilled, the matches are 50/50, the accuracy of the match placement is different for when someone plays Survivor vs Killer, etc.)

Weirdly enough, when it first went live, I had fairly well-placed matches. Then the next time I played, my matches consisted mostly of far less skilled Survivors and Killers, and then there would be one or two excellent Killers (with a mixed bag of Survivors in those matches). Took a break for a couple of days and just played one match today. It was a shitshow. One of the worst matches I've ever loaded into. I thought the algorithm would get better as it collected data, and while I maybe haven't given it enough, it seems to have worsened.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/279438/poll-what-have-your-matches-been-like-with-mmr/p1

  • @ChiSoxFan11 said:

Anyone who boops me -- unless you've acted like a tool in the match at some point -- gets a pass and lives, whether it's the beginning, middle, or end of a match. A lot of times, it's the last survivor who does it looking for mercy, and it gets them a hatch/door. Sometimes, it's an entire team doing it at the beginning of a match, and everyone ends up in a farming match. It's fun for me either way -- I've been a Rank 1 killer and get enough sweat in enough of my "regular" matches that a casual, "fun" game isn't going to make me lose any sleep. I don't fault Pigs who don't go along with the meme -- my own code with Piggy is just that: mine. When I play survivor, I don't expect a Pig I face to honor any booping, though it's always a great surprise and a lot of fun when they do.

The only thing that peeves me about it is when someone fake boops, whether it's a survivor to me or the Pig to me (or a teammate) as a survivor. I once had a Feng who faked a snoot boop only to drop a pallet on my head instead and teabag me afterwards -- her death was especially sweet, lol. 😂

I'm lucky to have never encountered a fake booper, but all I got to say about that is:

    image.png

  • @Hex_Llama said:

I'm conflicted about it. I'm not sure I know the exact point where you've memed so much that it becomes socially awkward to kill the other team -- so I like to let them boop, but I also need a graceful way to transition back to playing, and I don't always see one.

Most Piggies I've encountered are not memeing, so don't worry about it too much. If anyone expects you to meme around, as opposed to just enjoying it when you do, then that's not really your problem. You have every right to play normally without feeling guilty. And if you still feel a little weird, maybe there's a compromise. Like during the EGC, if there's a Survivor in the gate, you could crouch walk to them to kinda signal a boop snoot is in order. But yeah, don't let Survivors make you feel guilty for wanting to play normally. We're not entitled to memeing, and the rarity is why it's funny to me when it does happen.
