  • If you mean proximity chat, I would uninstall the game if they ever implemented that.

I absolutley think that in the POST GAME LOBBY you should have the right to know if you went against a swf or not, and if so how many of the survivors were in it, but maybe not saying what player names specifically were in it (have the screen showing what swfs you went against being different than the screen that shows all the survivor names). It's as you said, it would be good for killers to know what to attribute to their loss and what not to, and to know if they were simply outplayed or if the other team had an advantage.

I also think those who come on the forum complaining about getting bullied by swf should somehow have to post a screenshot proving that they really did lose to a swf.

No point in tracking whether or not they were on comms though, people will often be talking in completely different applications.

All good points. At the very least, a lessening of "SWF is the only reason I lost" mentality will be nice.

Currently, gens fly by when I'm playing killer, even killers I haven't touched in ages. So I am constantly losing until the survivors mess up and I barely scrape a 4k due to them all messing up simultaneously, so now I have to sweat harder next game. I don't ever feel like I win or that I outplayed them, it really does feel now like I'm babysitting until one of the kids trips and KOs themself.

Having games like this is fine, but holy hell give me a break sometimes game, I don't want every game to be stressful. Give me a mix of sweat fests where I win, sweat fests where I lose, and casual games where I can be merciful and relax a bit because this just isn't it, chief.

I wonder if this is the new normal. "Casual" games might translate to "below your skill level" so the MMR might not match you. Too soon to tell though.

  • @Tricksters_Wife said:

For the most part before the rank reset I was getting balanced matches when I play killer. Sometimes there was a survivor or two in certain lobbies that I could tell were definitely newer and/or didn't know how Trickster worked.

My survivor matches have been way worse. Rarely I get lobbies of people who seem to know what they're doing. But most matches I'm left on hook to die because the rest of the team is hiding because they're too afraid to get me when the coast is clear.

After going back to Ash IV I noticed that my matches have been a lot easier. Consistent 4ks again and I'm put with people who definitely are way below my MMR. Maybe I was unlucky in my matches today but I even had one lobby with people with around ≈100 hours who definitely got crushed under the pressure I have with Trickster where I believe not even a single gen was completed. It feels like my MMR got reset along with the grade? Maybe that's the point just so it can recalculate where I belong but idk. I liked having the balanced lobbies I had before rank reset with people with 2k-5k hours.

I thought the devs said MMR was not going to get reset, but that's very strange timing so I wonder if that is what happened. I hope you games start leveling off soon! Mine have been messy, too, but I wasn't playing consistently the past few months.

I usually run BT and Balanced but with this build I can’t run both, so what I’m asking is should I remove a perk or what perk should I use for the 4th slot

Well that's what I mean. Since you weren't sure on what perk to choose (and left it open to suggestions for other perks), I gave an answer depending on if you want an Information Build or a Team Build. Balanced Landing doesn't synergize as well with your other 3 perks. If you want to do a team based build, go with BT. If you want to do an information build, go with Spine Chill. Both of those would fit in nicely with the other 3 perks you already picked, but for different reasons. Now if you got rid of one of those 3 perks too, well that could change everything. So the easiest is to stick with the OG 3 perks, and pick either spine chill or BT as the 4th based on what you want to accomplish.

Definitely think it should be shown post-match. Pre-match is debatable, but post-match really isn't.

I remember having a hacker in one of my matches and the killer (streamer, I was able to check his stream and hear him say this) just assumed we were all part of a SWF and reported us all as "accomplices" instead of just the actual hacker.

It was an idiotic thing for him to do, but it wouldn't have happened if it showed the hacker was solo.

    That's an excellent point.

Yes, not super consistently, but I held red rank survivor for a year.

    Next three games after posting this was;

dc at 5gens; tunneled by plague.

Oni that was fairly good at using his powers and managed to get three downs in 30 seconds in the middle of haddonfield.

Next game was pinhead where someone dced after 30 seconds and second person killed themselves on hook.

My only guess is that I usually play with one other friend, I am wondering if the MMR system doesn't know how to handle it. They quit playing because of the MMR, so now this is my true solo que experience. Just got into another game will update it on results now that I havent had an escape in 6 games (three times died first hook).

Edit: Next game was against a hook camping huntress, couldnt really determine skill cause they were hitting people pointblank.

If I had to guess, I'd say you were right about your friend's MMR impacting your games, and it might take some time for the new system to get accurate data about you.

  • @Leovanni said:

I have had one fun game and no even games in 20+ matches.

Wow. Have you been playing consistently for the past few months? Maybe there's not enough data about you for the algorithm.

  • @wxnickxw said:

My question Is why not show the swfs. I usually play with a friend or two when I play survivor, I can't see a downside in showing after the match so why not?

As someone who sometimes plays SWF, I too would not mind the Killer knowing after the fact.

Yeah I would prefer to know after the game, especially if I got completely crushed it would at least make me feel a little better.

In reading (probably all of) these responses, I'd say most people agree with you--Killer and Survivor players.

1 sees totem- all see totem. That totem could have been devour hope, that killer could have seen you at that totem and made sure it stayed hidden if you were a solo squad.

Killer chases you off a gen at 90% with ruin in play, you call it out and someone close by or on a new gen takes over so the killer gets no value from their perks.

there is plenty of simple callouts that are made by swf that change the outcome of the game.

While that is true, what I said is also true.

  • Are you wanting more of an information build or a helping the team build? Spine Chill would work well with an information build. BT is great for team builds, or We'll Make It (like @Impose said). Can't really go wrong though with whatever you choose.

(By the way, you were correct. Open-Handed is Ace's aura-reading extension perk).

  • I argued that knowing beforehand who is in a SWF is not balanced, not that SWF itself is balanced. You're responding to something I didn't claim. ". . . but it's simply wrong to state that SWF vs Killer is balanced." We're not discussing the same thing.

And yes, we are going to have to agree to disagree, mate.

  • @Impose said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2495096#Comment_2495096

Seeing who ISN'T in a swf isn't balanced either. Not knowing if this is a group of 4 who know exactly where you are at all times, what killer you are, where you've been, what you've done on the map. That's not balanced.

There is no good argument against knowing SWFs before the match starts besides "it will cause too many lobby dodgers." Which I, personally, am totally fine with. If it takes people quitting this game, or ditching lobbies, or just not playing killer so the survivor queue times are so long no one else plays, for BHVR to actually FIX this game. I am 100% all for it. My queue times are already bordering on 30 minutes, and I'll still leave against 4 man squads or even 3 man squads if I'm just trying to have a good time.

Yes, it is balanced. It is far too much information for a Killer to know who is in a SWF beforehand. I am fine with adjustments, but not your proposal. As neither of us actually has any say in the matter (unless you work for BHVR), we are going to have to agree to disagree, or else we risk repeating ourselves.

Surely you jest sir. You mean killers don't like SWF because it gives an advantage.

You heretic, Killers don't like SWF because we hate people having fun right?

    Huh?

And, sir, I will insist you address me properly, for I am a lady of the court. Your dishonorable address shall not stand. My knights shall see to it that my honor is defended most valiantly. (Thanks for starting the ball rolling with the court speak. I got to indulge in a little weirdness lmao)

  • @Impose said:

You should know beforehand who is in a SWF. Zero reason not to. Your entire playstyle changes based on who is in a swf or not. I always check steam profiles for friends lists. If I see 3 people are in a swf, I know to prepare for things that only swfs do.

    Disagree.

It'll cause far too many lobby dodges. For Killers who do play and see people are in a 2 man SWF, they will use that information to target specific survivors out of the game.

Both of those things are unhealthy for the game. SWF are not a problem that must be eradicated. They are a part of the game that, reasonably, can be criticized for balance. I even proposed a BP bonus compensation for Killers, relative to the size of the SWF. That is quite fair, and there are plenty of other reasonable adjustments that could be made regarding SWF. But seeing who is in a SWF beforehand is not balanced, and it's not the answer.

  • @InnCognito said:

For me it is 50/50. Lobby dodging. But at the same time I do think there needs to be adjustments. I just dont know what would be a good suggestion at this point.

Do you mean there need to be adjustments about SWF? As in, maybe assessing a speed penalty to repairing actions based on the amount of friends, or granting BP bonuses to Killers, etc.?

  • @Dustin said:

I admit I have a hard time trying to argue against not knowing who SWF's are post game. Only post game though.

Just like revealing the killers loadout too early I feel revealing who are in a SWF to the killer too early gives too much in game information.

Agreed, the Killer shouldn't see beforehand, but I was thinking so as to prevent lobby dodging. But that is a good point. If it's a two man SWF, the Killer would target one of them intentionally.

I agree with that I'm just fed up with all the adult children in this community that have the ego I was speaking of, anything and everything you did in game was toxic and you dishonored their family by escaping and now they have to let you know about it lol

"you dishonored their family" lol thank you for that haha

And I agree with you. 👍

  • @The_Krapper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2492251#Comment_2492251

No because there is always an excuse in this game and for some reason most of the players have this ego like theyre the best to ever play the game and they would rather insult and make excuses than admitting they made mistakes that cost them the match

I agree with that (my pipe dream from the OP)

But the specific line I was responding to was: "Many players already attribute their losses to playing against SWF instead of attributing their losses to mistakes they made."

So seeing it wasn't a SWF, they at least won't complain that it was a SWF. Sure, they will still complain. But it won't be because of SWF. In that case it'll be, "Survivor perk OP nerf now" or "The map sucks."

Are these people going to admit their own shortcomings? Probably not. But should the rest of us not have something just because a thin-skinned person can't handle it? That's where I have a problem. Loud mouths are going to be loud regardless, we shouldn't placate them.

  • @Luciferr_2nd said:

Been quite inconsistent for me but thats probably because i play with someone in a swf and our mmrs are a bit off.

I must be the only killer who really doesn't care about to care to find out pre-game or post-game. I also don't want extra BP for people playing with friends, because most of the time you already get more bp than survivors do in the first place...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2492705#Comment_2492705

I hate this excuse. KYF gets boring. You don't get the variety or randomness that comes with online with various skill levels, killers, etc. Also, have you ever played a kwf with 2-3 people? Literally no point.

Full disagree swf should only be duo. And full disagree there should be a 'casual mode' because this is a casual game already. Ranks are especially meaningless now.

To clarify, would you be indifferent to knowing, or do you actually not want to know?

  • @GingerBeard said:

    Absolutely.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2492313#Comment_2492313

I don't think there is any valid reason for not showing it after the game honestly, or maybe its better to say that the positives clearly outweigh any negatives. Even if there are some players that may somehow turn it into a negative thing (don't know how you could do that), I believe it would be an incredibly small minority of the player base. So small that it would make zero sense to give them any recognition and punish the vast majority by not adding it. I can't stand the mentality of "someone might abuse the system so no one should get it", that crap brings me back to elementary school where the whole class wouldn't get recess because one kid acted up.

Agreed. Having tact and judgment about possible negative outcomes is one thing. Placating "babies" because they're a bunch of loud mouths is another.

  • @Axx said:

Post game lobby it would be fine. I would like to know as a solo survivor if people were in a SWF.

Agreed. It would have to be post. Pre-game would cause too many lobby dodges.

  • @ouroboros_world said:

It would be nice to know you only lost because of the power of swf, but survivor mains don’t want this because they won’t be able manipulate the numbers on how strong and common swf is.

Survivor here. I play mostly solo queue, but from time to time I play SWF (with a highly skilled team). I wouldn't care if the Killer knew we were SWF post game. We've had our a**es handed to us by good Killers plenty of times, and we don't win just because we're SWF either. It's an advantage to be on comms, but it's not a guarantee. So I don't agree that "you only lost because of the power of swf." There's more to it than that. But, with that being said, I can agree that some people feel the way you described in your last line. And I don't agree with that mentality at all. And if people try to say, "Well yeah, but the Killer is going to talk sh*t when they see they beat a SWF so I don't want to let them know we were in a SWF," who cares what that player thinks? That Killer can p*ss off. There's little worse in a game than a sore winner.

Yeah that's [BAD WORD]. Take it as a compliment. They didn't have the balls to tell you the truth.

  • @Lenox said:

I forget what game it was, but it would put different colored borders around those grouped together. I SWF and I wouldn't mind it. But I also don't care. And I play 50 / 50 killer and survivor.

However, I welcome your pipe dream reasoning. I really like that.

I literally lol'd at : "However, I welcome your pipe dream reasoning."

I'm mostly a solo queue Survivor, but when I play SWF I wouldn't mind the Killer knowing it either. Someone said some people wouldn't want Killers to know they're SWF because then they can't pretend they're "gods." So maybe people who are mostly SWF would have the most problem with it.

  • @xenotimebong said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2492319#Comment_2492319

Yeah, I know that feeling. Had a streamer earlier rage about “sweaty gen-rushing SWF” and when I checked everyone’s profile, not one of us was on each other’s friend lists so we were all solo players.

lol maybe it was the same guy 😆

  • @blankfaced said:

The only reason survivors really don't want killers to know is they know how lopsided in their favor discord/SWF is. And they want it to seem as though they're good at the game. When really the game wasn't designed around it and it severely imbalances it in the survivors' favor.

As a solo queue survivor, I'd love to know whether or not my teammates were in a SWF or not. Especially when I see them diving at the killer to save someone. I want to know if it was true altruism or if it was just a sweat squad not willing to let their bro die.

    Fair point.

Personally, I wouldn't care when I play SWF if the Killer knows, especially if there's some sort of BP compensation for the Killer after. But you're right. Some people won't want that to be known.

  • @xenotimebong said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2492251#Comment_2492251

The people who use SWF as a scapegoat for the reason they lost would just find some other excuse if it was proven to them that there was no SWF.

Le sigh. Human ingenuity... you're probably right.

Still, it would be nice to no longer hear "[BAD WORD] you and your sweaty SWF!" all the time. I actually had to stop watching a streamer because every time he lost, he raged it was because they must be SWF.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2492284#Comment_2492284

I get a lot of killers in postgame chat that rage about "SWF" when I was in solo queue. A lot of killers carry the mindset that the only reason they ever lose a game is because of SWF. It would be a terrible idea to point out who is in a SWF to those players.

    Hmmm. I get your concern.

The way I see it, those people are going to do that regardless. But when they see they weren't against a SWF, it could at least prevent them from coming on here after a game saying "I just played against the sweatiest 4 man SWF ever, nerf self care!!!" (That last part was a sad joke). And if they got a BP reward, I wonder if it would lessen the animosity from those people. I don't know though.

But regardless, people like that are the ones I take with a grain of salt. Loud and thin-skinned doesn't mean you're (general "you're" not you specifically) right. It means you're loud and thin-skinned. Nothing more. And no amount of snark, raging, or toxic behavior will make their opinion magically true. So when I think of it that way, I'm leaning more towards "Yeah, let's see who's in the SWF." I'm not going to base my actions on placating people like that. If they can't handle it, that's honestly their problem.

Still, someone might have a valid reason for not showing who's in a SWF that I just haven't considered. So while I now lean towards yes, I'm still undecided.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

No. It's not relevant information regarding outcomes in the vast majority of skill levels and would only place a target on players who are just playing with friends.

i feel like i could handle them if i stopped thinking about having fun and only focused on winning by running quad slowdown and playing like my life is on the line, but i prefer playing nice, so i can't handle the games very well

    That makes sense.

The only way I could see you getting more chill games is if you don't try to do as well in games like that. I know that sounds like BS (why should you sacrifice your BP?), but the algorithm doesn't know how you feel while playing those games, just that you have the skill to handle them. So if you keep doing well, it's going to keep giving you games like that. What do you think?

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

my matches with my mains (Demo, Nemesis, Slinger, Trickster) haven't been very fun to play on account of being rather sweaty, but for some reason my matches with Pinhead have been consistently easy due to getting fresh installs for some reason

    it's been a ######### mess

Would you say you can handle your matches with your mains, even though they've been sweaty? Or do you feel you weren't matched appropriately and should've started with a little less-skilled Survivors? I could be wrong, but I thought the devs said they'd been collecting data for months so matches were supposed to be relatively "fair" at the onset of the new system. Did you take a break or just not play as often for the past few months? I'm wondering if that would explain it (i.e., there wasn't enough data to adequately place you).

Either way, I hope it levels off for you soon!

    Agreed.

It barely happens to me, so most of the time I actually don't care or can even laugh about it (guess it depends on how the games are going). But yesterday my teammate did that to me and it really annoyed me. I ran all the way across the map for them after turning on the only gen, so for them to do that in my face, and put themselves into stage 2 for no reason, seemed really rude and disrespectful to the team. So I just stared at them for a few seconds while they struggled on the hook and then unhooked them. Didn't heal them though.

It needs both. PC already has this option. Even with optimization, an option to downgrade graphics could be useful to an individual from time to time, based on their internet.

If you're trying to make the argument that a graphical downgrade does not fix optimization issues, I agree with you. It is not a substitute for the optimization console requires to function. This is not an either/or. It's a both/and. And it's important to remember that this is optional, and would only affect the individual player who chose to implement it.
