demo, executioner, nemesis (basically the same main power but with 3 different flavoured sauces)

Mikey is one of my favorites, too. His jump scares are my favorite thing about going against him. I don't get to use the PTB, but the cenobite looks like he'll be fun.

Unfortunately, downgrading the graphics on the Switch hasn't helped the game run smoother at all.

My friend bought and installed the game on the Switch right after RE was released. It ran fine. Every update since has worsened the performance, including the one that has made DbD look like a PS2 game.

I'm pretty sure DbD has memory leaks. When I'm playing the game on Switch or PS4, after I play a bunch of matches the game starts freezing up when the match ends and goes to the stats screen. The fans also get louder and louder on my PS4 Pro. The fans are pretty much constantly running loud when I play DbD these days; they aren't audible at all for any other game. It's either an issue with a memory leak or their visual effects are poorly implemented, because their fog/smoke effects have always caused the PS4 fans to go nuts. It's just gotten so, so much worse lately.

There's also the problem of them loading all their killer and survivor assets into every match, which probably hurts performance more than anything.

I'm not knocking the idea of being able to choose the visual quality. Maybe it would help.

I wish it had helped on the Switch. Unfortunately, BHVR disabled the Switch's function of recording video (which also doesn't seem to have improved performance), so I can't show just how bad it is.

    Ah, that's unfortunate.

I have a PS4, and my fan only runs when I first turn on the game if I don't press X. After that, no fan, but I've been getting lots of frame drops during skill checks, unhooking, vaulting, and dead hard. Like with you, it seems to worsen if I keep playing.

Like you said, maybe it would work better on PS4 and X-Box than it did Switch. I hope so.

  • @xenotimebong said:

I think the petition is a good idea. Whether or not the solution he proposes (an optional quality setting) is something Behaviour is willing to do is another question entirely, but drawing attention to the issue can only be a good thing.

Agreed. I caught the end of his answer in the chat, but someone said something similar and he said Behaviour already added that option for (I think he said Switch??). I honestly don't know why they wouldn't do it, but you're right, drawing attention to it helps if nothing else.

I am for enabling the SBMM.

Ranks will be used only as a monthly bloodpoint reward. In this case however there are some changes needed to how the pips are calculated. SBMM should give balanced games, so does it mean most games should result in safety pip? If so how will we increase our ranks for the monthly reward? Probably +1 should be added to the "pip result".

Agreed, I've thought the pips calculation needed to be changed for a long time now, let alone with SBMM.

Interesting point, too. I don't know how it's going to work once the changes happen. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of negative posts about it once it goes live though.

  • @Emeal said:

You ask this on the eve of the SBMM being introduced and the Rank System removed and replaced?

If there ever is going to be seen a rank, its going to be on a personal statistics page.

The only thing I saw about ranks from a Dev was this:

    WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO RANKS?

During the test, nothing! Your rank will behave exactly the same as normal, it just won’t be shown after the match. Once the test is over, they’ll be used for matchmaking again and will appear after matches.

In the future, once we’ve officially changed to SBMM, ranks will remain as a monthly progression system. Each month, your rank will reset to 20, and you’ll earn Bloodpoints based on how much you’ve ranked up. Both Killer and Survivor have their own rewards, so you can earn double the points by ranking up both sides.

If they've said ranks will only be visible on a personal stats page, let me know where you saw that. I get why you're asking why I brought this up now, but it's just one of those for fun posts. People talk about how Survivors should have to pull out knives even after Trickster's changes were implemented because it's fun to talk about what you'd rather see, not what is or will be. If this isn't fun for you (or is even pointless), then it's not for you. But I did leave an "Other" option, so I guess your answer is "Other: I'm curious what the SBMM will do once it's live."

  • @fogdonkey said:

It looks like they will enable SBMM during next chapter, so the whole ranking system you are talking about will get obsolete.

Yeah, I heard a little about that. You're talking about the colored rings around a player's names during the PTB, right? (I put in "Other" in case someone wanted bring that or anything else up). But this is just more for fun, especially with the MMR hate as of latte. So if it were up to you, which of these options would you choose? Do you think it's fine as is, or do you want to see a change?

  • @Hex_Llama said:

I think that with a playerbase this size, there are some blocking options that could work.

    • block a very small number of people (like 5) forever -- if you want to block a sixth person, you have to unblock someone else
    • block a larger number of people for a short amount of time (24 hours or less), so that you can't match with them back to back

Both of those solutions would stop people from spamming blocks while still giving them some ability to avoid repeatedly matching with someone who's targeting or harassing them.

    I second this.

Huntress, Nurse, Oni, Myers, Pig, Deathslinger, and Demo.

What's interesting is, save for Nurse, your list (like mine) is made up of what (at least major streamers) argue is non-S tier killers.

  • @Pukenplag said:

Nurse with pumpkin head. After a day of facecamping and gen-phobic team mates, pamupukin hedu nurses are a relief. I finally feel like I am doing something (I remember a match in the first SBMM day of the last test when I faced a pumkin head nurse. I looped her around the same pallet for 5 gens. Then I adrenalined away and our Blendie got caught and face camped - she had kindred, I was injured and our Felix refused to save her, although I was pointing at her and even teabagged and clicky clickied the nurse in hope of her going after me. She did, but Felix still stood at the gate to teabag)

Oh, Felix . . . we've all been on the receiving end of *that* teammate. It's annoying when the teammate who does the least either A. dips from the match first or B, is given the hatch by the Killer haha

But yes, pumpkin head nurse is an underused cosmetic!

  • @EQWashu said:

Personally, I rather enjoy Nurse, Huntress, Twins, Ghost Face, Demogorgon, Blight, Pig (snoot boops!), and Trapper...if I step in a one-in-a-million bear trap in the middle of nowhere, I laugh my backend off, I can't even be mad. When it happens, often in post game the Trapper and I get a good laugh from it lol

Yeah, Trappers deserve a lot of love, especially the really skilled ones! I can't get mad at a well-placed trap!

Had a scratched mirror Myers who sent us to RPD, that was a really fun match. Myers in general is usually fun to play against on indoor maps

That link is a compilation of clips from the streamer Puppers. 9:30 minute mark is a perfect Myers example lol

  • @Pepsidot said:

Huntress. Mindgaming her at loops is great. It's a great feeling when you loop a pallet and then stand still as if you're about to pull it down but as she charges her hatchet (if she falls for the fake) go around for another loop. But it's equally a good feeling predicting when they're not going to respect the pallet. Predict wrongly and you'll lose a health state. It's intense.

It's also fun generally trying to dodge her hatchets, even at unsafe loops.

Good point. I went against an iri head huntress the other day. Her aim was insane and she was really good at handling loops too. It made things much more intense, but the challenge was fun.

"Baby nurse" lol (not gonna lie, that is fun because it makes me feel like a top 1% DBD player when I got against them haha) but a rank 1 pc nurse with 80 billion hours is one of my favorites to go against. Yeah, it's absolutely brutal, but I love the challenge. And if they kill me, well, they're a rank 1 PC nurse with 80 billion hours. They earned it.

Are you playing on Xbox? because I get tips about the killer I’m facing almost every game.

Don't know what @Aven_Fallen is playing on, but it's the same for me on PS4. I only see Killer specific information when the Killer is new (and general tips always).

What do you mean exactly by linking the threads? You mean posting the link of the thread here?

Correct. Commenting on that thread and sharing this link.

  • Good on you for recognizing your own behavior and stepping up. I would recommend you link this thread to THAT thread. The people who you hurt won't see it otherwise.

  • They'd have to keep adding to it with every new killer if it replaced the default one, so I don't think they'd want to invest in that work. But for a big event like someone said, yeah that'd be cool.

  • I don't like clickbait, but that is one precious little peanut. Give her lots of cheek rubs and forehead kisses.

  • Rather than re-skin the indoor Hawkins map (and I don't believe they could do that legally anyway since it would be infringing on the likeness of Netflix's property (a re-skin doesn't change that)), I'd rather an outdoor city map for him. Neon lights, club signs, alleys, etc. We don't have anything remotely like that. The lobby when he was new was so cool . . .

Why were they put onto the shrine only instead of just being generic perks on bloodwebs?

Were they afraid of what would happen if every single player had access to Inner Strength from the start?

I assume it was because those perks are teachables, so if you didn't spend the money to get them, it should be harder (and more rare) to have access to them. Plus other players who already own them (spent money on the chapter or got them in the Shrine) would throw a fit if newbies just had easy and instant access to them.

I too would love a Prison map and another Silent Hill map.

For Silent Hill, there are SO MANY areas I would love to have in DBD. The apartments or hotel from 2, the mall from 3, The original outdoor area from 1, fog AND nightmare version for any map chosen. Though...I might be the only one who wants this, but......I kind of want Nowhere from Silent Hill 1 as a map. Considering what Nowhere is, the devs could Possibly make their own unique version of the map and it would still make sense for both games.

Also, I don't ever see it mentioned but...I want a Jurassic Park map. I would love to see the exit gates being the iconic gates from Jurassic Park.

Never heard of a Jurassic Map-type park. Maybe the Killer would be a mad scientist who kept wanting to push the genetic experiments too far, and eventually, he snapped.

I can definitely imagine Wraith on there.

Even better tho? Predator as a killer released along side the map. ;)

I would love to face Predator. The mori would be amazing. His cloaking ability would basically be like Wraith, but both Mikey and Ghosty Boy are stealthy so I don't care about that.

  • I ha ve that happening, too. I thought it was something Behaviour was doing intentionally (I've noticed different sound effects, too). Could be wrong though. Might actually be a bug.

  • @Moxie said:

    A theatre or Opera House.

I could see the costume and/or prop room being really cool, and the stage could have a gen and/or a hook. The exit gates could be front entrance and back alley.

    What I personally would like:

    1. A cemetery
    2. Mine/Cave map (can also be the MacMillan mines with a Miner as Killer, a Survivor from the Mine disaster.)
    3. A Castle on a mountain.
    4. Maybe a big grocery store? (with flickering lights, creepy store Music and a some guy with a butcher knife from the meat department.)

    some ideas.

Good ideas. I really like the mine idea. As long as the devs focused first on functionality, then the aesthetics of that would be really cool.

  • @ImBrakingBike said:

    1. Killers should be able to see survivors, ranks, and items, not names/profiles.
    2. Survivors should be able to see the killer's rank.
    3. Only at the end of the match names should be revealed to everyone.

What would you say to the people who want to be able to see names so they can lobby jump in case they recognize someone toxic?

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Okay imagine this: a ship level.

It's a large cruise ship stuck on a beach. The beach has a hut (the shack) and out in the sea there's a couple of floating buildings all connected by pontoon bridges but be careful on them because they may sink at random intervals.

If you run into or fall into the water you start to drown and can try to swim back to shore, be saved by another survivor, or be pushed down by the killer (who does not drown). If you're drowned by the killer you get transported to a nearby hook, if you're saved by the survivors or yourself you're home free and your drowning meter slowly resets.

Environmental hazards bhvr I am begging you

I'd have to really think that over, but on first read, that sounded really cool. And creative. 👍

  • @Downcamped_Claudette said:

I always thought catacombs like the ones under Paris would be kinda cool... of course you would need bigger rooms and hallways, but I think this could be really cool.

Maybe a Plane/zeppelin crashsite from ww-era could be cool, where you got this huge-ass crash as main structure and the trenches on the sides...

I've been to the catacombs in Rome. Very unsettling, and if they somehow expanded it like you said, it could be a cool map.

I want a map in the Red forrest realm for Blight, 17th Century Port of Marseille or Graveyard map in the Crotus Prenn realm for Twins and a Neon city outdoor on the ground floor and indoor as underground for Trickster :D

    All good ideas 👍

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    Few ideas:

Abandoned prison map. Would look cool but gameplay would be terrible. Killer prison guard who liked to torture prisoners.

Village. Small creepy Village with houses that have full indoor layout. Would need a lot of balancing work to make gameplay good. Killer old lady with that creepy old lady laugh. She would welcome tourist to her house and poison them.

Plane hangar. Massive hangar with plane parts and equipment as cover. Maybe some moving parts when gens are fixed. Would technically be indoor map but basically be an outdoor map. Killer plane technician who killed his billionaire boss.

Museum at night. Would look cool, gameplay would be average to bad. Killer an old south american spirit(Aztec or something) seeking for revenge on europeans.

Coal mine. Wouldn't look cool, gameplay also bad. Killer worker who's been Abandoned do die after a mine collapsed.

The Decent(licensed). Probably same as coal mine, cave system bad gameplay. Killer those bastards but they are basically demogorgans.

Artic station. As few said basically the thing. Could look cool and have a decent gameplay. Killer the thing, shape shifter who have 3 unique powers, speed, normal and insta down.

Fishing village: Could look cool and have a decent gameplay. Killer an old fisherman who killed his fishy friend who slept with his wife.

Sand pit. Massive excavation zone, could look cool in day time sand sparkling and gameplay could be decent, lots of verticallity. Killer worker who got buried by a sand slide and left to die.

Castle. Look cool, gameplay probably meh. Killer a headless knight.

I actually thought of a prison map, and I still want them to try to do it. In my mind though, it would be indoor/outdoor, modeled loosely off of Alcatraz. So you're on an island, and the main building is the prison, but there's also outside areas and the gates could be a doc to get to a boat. Creepy shower areas, looping around cafeteria tables, hidden passageways like for prisoner escapes (possibly designed like the breakable ways in the bathroom at Midwich . . . If they focused on functionality first, then the aesthetics, it could really be incredible. Especially with a hazy, foggy border because of the water.

Your other ideas were cool, too. I agree, sometimes aesthetically a map is amazing, but the functionality is completely unbalanced. I'm an optimist though, so if I hear a really cool idea, I want to figure out how to make it work.

I doubt they'll move mountains for one person I prefer surprising the majority of the community if they make the tools available to everyone. There's a lot of talented people in the community too who make audio and art to an extent it disappoints me the most they enable is the community cosmetic concept contest. It's better than nothing though.

No, definitely won't. But I was meaning more if you tagged them in a post and it gained traction. In essence, you getting the ball rolling to put the idea on their radar.

Space station (An indoor map but completely different in scale. Only a few small corridors, but mostly big rooms with glass on the side where you can see outside)

Summer camp (Next to a lake, with different gravel paths around the forest)

    The space views sound sweet.

Love the summer camp idea. Just like Jason.

A bit yeah but admittedly at the moment I'm working on an interactive VR experience with inspirations from PT and other old horror icons. However I'm totally willing to drop my spare time into DBD if they ever add mod support. I even have a design doc ready for if that special day ever happens.

If you have Twitter, made you should tag them in a post about that.

I want BHVR to make a derelict manor.

...Or just let PC players make custom maps.

If mod tools are released I will take time to make a detailed map for this game - I've got plenty of experience to do so. I will craft every set piece and loop by hand to perfection taking into account all killers and survivors abilities.

Someone mentioned an old Victorian manor. I do like the idea of something like that. Were you thinking something like Hill House?

Those are all cool (I especially love the first two), but I suspect the mirror maze would be very hard to code and confuse players (especially Killer). But some people mentioned a carnival, so a room of a mirror maze (done carefully) could be really cool to add.
