Well it was not Imhotep who resurected the bodyguards but Jonathan reading part of the inscription in the book of life but as he did not finish it he could not command them so Imhotep used that to order them to attack them instead. By that he should not be able to resurect any other than his priest but it just sounds too much like Nemesis zombies so don't really see that as good addition.

Imhotep only did resurect the pharaohs body guards in the second movie and then only because he got their ashes in the jar.

Ahh you're right. I misremembered that. I remember him commanding them, but Jonathan was the one who started the process.

  • A long time ago, someone on the forums mentioned how they'd like to see (I think) a Survivor version of Wraith. And that got my wheels turning, especially about Spirit/Rin. It got me thinking about how something like this could be a twist of fate. Sliding doors. Shadow shelves. Alternate realities. I couldn't stop mulling over the idea.

I thought about how cool it would be if BHVR put out installations of a Twist of Fate Chapter, where existing Survivors become Killers and Killers become Survivors. I'll tag my original post about this below. I brought up this idea a few different times (so the conversation has spilled onto different posts and really expanded) and people had a lot of great ideas. I'm still hoping BHVR will do a twist of fate chapter for many of the original survivors/killers! I think the idea has so much potential.

Original Post I made about this:

    **NOT MY ORIGINAL IDEA***

A while back, another forum member and I were discussing dream chapter ideas. The forum member brought up a fantastic idea.

It's about a twist of fate.

What if BHVR had chapters where certain Killers had become Survivors instead of Killers?

Hold your horses. I'm not saying Spirit is removed from the game. I'm saying that Rin is added to the game as a Survivor. Here's how it would work. In an alternate reality, at the moment Rin was dying, the Entity took her and made her into a Survivor--dooming her to repeat her trauma. How's that for a new level of horror! The Entity is such a malevolent being that it wants Survivors to re-live their darkest moments and literally face off against their darkest selves. It's a very nuanced and mature lore, to be honest. Rin facing Spirit is a literal manifestation of the "sliding doors" theory/the butterfly effect. The idea that our entire lives could've gone differently if only we had made one different decision.

Personally, I would love to see Spirit as a Survivor. I've always felt bad for her and thought her lore was among the best. Her cosmetics would be incredible, too, and simply seeing Rin and Spirit in the same game would be so cool. On that note, I think having a similar cosmetic for both Rin and Spirit that incorporates a butterfly would be a nice homage to the "butterfly" effect idea.

**This idea is also applicable for other characters, but I'd love for it to start with Spirit and Rin.**

*** If that forum member still uses the forums and sees this, I hope you comment/make your own post about it. You might have come up with some more concrete ideas by now and I'd love for you to share them. ***

ideas like this make me tear up at the thought of this place shutting down😕

I forgot to tag you in another response I made. Sorry about that! Please feel free to weigh in!

Also what do you guys think about the lobby being the ruins of Hamunaptra?

And now I'm thinking about near the end of the movie when Imhotep resurrected the Pharaoh's soldiers and made them attack Rick. I wonder if Imhotep's power should include resurrected priests/soliders or not. Not sure. This is why it's fun to flesh these ideas out.

And even the map itself being booby trapped. Remember how the walls closed in? That's how Beni got trapped in the room with the treasure.

    So many options…

Hey, all. It's been a minute since I've been on these forums. Just got back on today and saw the post about it closing. Don't really know what to say about that.

Anyway, for years I've been unofficially petitioning BHVR to get an official The Mummy (1999) chapter. And now that Brendan Fraser is officially doing another The Mummy installment (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt22408968/?_ssoLoop=1), it makes even more sense to get one.

So, BHVR, please get that license. Give us Rick O'Connell as a Survivor (and Evie ideally, too), Imhotep as the Killer, an ancient Egypt map, 1920s clothing, cool perks. Would be a dream chapter for me.

    @Linkdouken @Wezqu @HoodedWildKard @Deathstroke

I've also wondered if he could have some sort of quick map mobility by turning into sand. Do you guys remember how, whenever he got scared of the cat, he'd turn into sand and bolt out of the room? And then when he kidnapped Evie, he was a big sand storm and even his face appeared in the sand as he was fighting Winston's airplane.

There's so much that could be done with Imhotep as a Killer. His power, his mori, his perks, even his skins. I'd love to see a skeletal skin (like the way he looked after the took the eyes and tongue of that first guy), a semi-regenerated version of him (like when the scarab crawled out of his cheek and back in and he ate it. Or even a different semi-regenerated version like when he sucked the guy dry who had the Book of the Dead in the street), and a fully regenerated skin.

If BHVR could get the likenesses and have Brendan Fraser and Arnold Vosloo voice their characters, that would be my favorite chapter they've ever done.

On the fearing the cat note, that could somehow be related to one of Evie's perks. And the art of the perk's emblem could be the cat's hissing face. And now that I'm thinking about it, Evie's perks could likely involve some sort of incantation (since she was the librarian always reading the ancient texts), and Rick's definitely should be the adventurous, gung ho type. I wouldn't mind doing something to earn a way to shoot at a Killer to slow them down a bit lol (And yes, that obviously couldn't be overpowered or used too frequently. Would have to be really well thought out).

Man, I'm gonna miss the forums. It's so much fun fleshing these ideas out with the community.

I Watched “The Mummy” For The First Time And Had A Lot Of Thoughts

OOOH the mori could involve the scarabs. Those scenes always stuck with me as a kid.

Yeah! Scarabs or even sucking survivors dry and leaving them a desiccated corpse. Maybe even both? One could be a mini mori?

Bro that would be so sick. Imhotep would be an awesome killer and the survivor potential is huge. Benny players would be the new rats 🤣

Omg I didn't even think about him! 😂 I hope he and Rick would have voice lines if they loaded into the same lobby. And if he dies in a match, Rick will be coded to say, "Goodbye, Beni." lol

  • Certainly interesting. It would need a bit more fleshing out and some adjustments for me to think the killer would be truly viable. The problem with trap-based killers is that the payoff is usually later (if at all). The killer you described didn't account for the need for map mobility.

  • @smurf said:

I used to see these and then farm the match, then report them bc if my win rate is going to artificially increase, it should at least be from a friendly killer, not hermanbot.

  • I've been saying this for years, but God I hope they do 1999's The Mummy.

Rick O'Connell is the perfect Survivor.

Imhotep would be an amazing Killer.

The map would be gorgeous and so cool if it were set in ancient Egypt.

The vintage cosmetics would be amazing.

The mori would be amazing (scarabs could eat all the flesh from the bodies, leaving a skeleton, after Imhotep rips out the Survivor's brain through their nostrils).

Perfect chapter, in my opinion. I love that movie and would love to see Rick and Evie in DBD.

I’m just curious if anyone else is experiencing this. I’ve stoped playing at certain times a day because I’m noticing a pattern in the kind of behavior I encounter in matches. I’m on east coast time and I notice that when I play from 11:30pm-6am times, I get nothing but super sweaty killers or super toxic BM killers. The ones that go out of their way to hook you and stand there hitting you over and over on hook at 5 gens, or the ones who slug you and just stand over you until you bleed out. (No im not flashy clicking, sabo build running, or teabagging or anything. I legit just go into the game to play the match and this comes out of nowhere)

Then I notice that when I play early morning like from 7am-11:30am time frame I get nothing but sandbagging teammates. I played today and out of 5 matches I legit had 4 matches where at least one teammate brought bond into the match and used it specifically to sandbag teammates on gens while in chase. Instead of taking the killer away they ran right to us on gens to try and put the killer on us.

Obviously this isn’t a scientific analysis by any means. Just my own anecdotal experience. Anyone else see stuff like this?

Yep. I'm in PST. So if I have a day off and feel like playing an early morning game, I usually get VPNers from Asia playing a late night game or non-VPNers who have much lower MMR than I.

Are the first three killers the only options available, or are the other killers available in their launch forms?

Last part I'm not sure about.

Personally, as a modifier, I'd love to do it. Back then, nobody kew what they were doing so it would be interesting to see what happens now.

it should tell them in lobby. as with so much about this game. an odd thing that they don't let you know and killer can see you in lobby but can't see them. I just played a match as Sadako and the survivors ran right up to me and wanted to get hooked so they could suicide on hook and leave… I saw someone on youtube saying that whenever they play Doctah and he hits his first shock, they DC if not running up to him and standing by a hook. I've always advocated for an "anyone but" option so that everyone can pick one killa that they just can't stand. these discussions came out of disabilities, aspergers, color-blindness, anxiety disorders… every one I've spoked to about my issue with Huntress (I have to play the match muted, same for Doctah) will point out to me that they can't stand this one or that one for triggering issues. Some can't see anything during Dredge matches. One was traumatized as a child when her dad played Resident Evil in front of her and always DCs a Nemesis match as soon as it loads. I'm not sure why so many people DC from my Sadako matches but maybe same thing. the movie scared them too much as kids or something.

Yes, there certainly are some anxiety issues for some people. Some of that might be bettered by continuously facing/confronting the issue, but sometimes, that might make it worse. Everyone is different.

I think that survivors shouldn't know who they're going against as I think it messes with the playstyle of certain killers. Ex; knowing you're against a stealthy killer at the beginning of the map, people would be more hyper aware of their surroundings and people would probably be hesitant to even start gens and stuff in solo queue. I like the idea of being able to choose a few killers to opt out of playing against, I think a number of 3 would be good. I also don't think that it should be a 100% chance to not match vs them, but just a way, way lesser chance.

    I agree

  • @bm33 said:

I wish default they'd separate these. By time players realize they can change the button layout they don't want to because they're used to it being same one.

    Good point

  • @moputopia said:

I think there are way too many ways to optimize your build against certain Killers. For example, against a Trapper or Hag using a map with the Red Twine and Crystal Bead add-ons that show all "killer belongings", including traps, to all Survivors. Or knowing you're against Cenobite, so you bring Fixated, which lets you break his chains faster. Or even using the same character and cosmetics on several players against Ghostface, so he's not sure who he has 99% stalked. Many of these perks or items are currently not an issue only because it's an unlikely combination to have a Survivor using them go against that specific Killer.

The game is already built to be very RNG based, from map generation to skillchecks etc. I think this is just a core part of it now, you might get lucky with your build or you might not.

I do understand the idea of reducing the odds of certain Killers from your matchmaking, especially due to phobias. It might create some interesting stats. Though making the game consider the Killer as well as MMR might complicate matchmaking a lot, especially if you have all the Survivors rule out different Killers. Maybe a better way would be to add more accessibility options, to for example mute or replace the vomiting sounds in Plague matches.

Good comment—and that's a good idea about adjusting the sounds for Plague.

Killer abilities are like items in survivor. On the other hand, survivor's abilities are based on perks, not items.

In other words, for the survivor to know the killer means to know the killer's abilities, so as an equivalent exchange, the killer should know the survivor's perk.

If both parties could opt out of what they don't want, this is what would happen. Survivor: ”I don't want to match up with artists and skull merchants.'' Killer: "Then I'll set it up so that I don't play against survivors who have DS and OTR.''

Maybe that's very pointless, and you should know that there's a difference between enjoying a game and having the game take care of you.

Interesting point. Glad you added it as a consideration.

i think it would not work great throu skins since then you would have dwight turn into trapper or yui turn into nurse and you would have the same killer story but with another name on it.

but if we make them there own alternate universe characters instead of the nurse we could have sally smithson a woman that survived working in the gruesome crotus prenn asylum instead of being broken by it. she could bring perks centered around healing and managing the mental damage survivors get from being hunted in the trails.

its just cool when they work with there existing characters developing the dbd universe and those what if twists can be very cool

Agree completely. There's a lot of creative potential.

  • Yui's mori could incorporate the motorcycle (getting run over, dragged, etc.).

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/411181/techies-is-this-a-viable-way-bhvr-could-stop-hackers-in-real-time

Yes, and also no. It really is an arms race, there are some things they could do, but at that point its a matter of what parameters you allow.

For example, lets just look at one possibility, of a cheating survivor player's movement speed.

    Scenario 1:

Survivor: Hey server, i can move at 200% movement speed permanently

    Sever: Cool

Now they do a patch that makes it so the server will know that you can only move at 200% movement speed if you run background player and only for 5 seconds.

    Scenario 2:

Survivor: Hey server, i can move at 103% movement speed permanently

    Server: Cool

Now they do a patch to fix this. But 103% movement speed is possible with MFT with a condition.

So it creates this scenario where your detection is:

if survivor movement speed > 100% for some amount of seconds, but also when they don't have MFT and endurance, but also if they don't have this other perk:

    then ban survivor for hacking

else they are good to go.

Now everytime they do an update to perks they have to go in and sift through that complicated logic to make sure they don't accidentally start banning people. Maybe create an new KILLER perk that makes survivors move faster as a penalty, but gives the killer some buff. Or maybe they create a new killer power that makes survivors move faster but gives some kind of debuff. So now the logic becomes super complicated.

The better solution is multiple things:

    1. Better anti-cheat and banwaves. You always ban in waves, not immediately. Pirate software has a few clips where he explains this well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YUmMFwSXpU

      https://www.youtube.com/shorts/cADaFm__ApQ

    2. A replay system, this would tie in with player reports, where when someone reports someone for cheating, a replay is created and can be played back by someone to view the match and determine if someone was cheating.
      1. If this system becomes too hard to manage for the devs because of too many reports, they can replace it with a system by which players can vote "tribunal" style, similar to overwatch in DotA where you can view replays, and vote whether someone should get banned.
      2. You could even go so far as tie this into AI and machine learning to take the match data and determine if the person cheated.
    3. And finally compensation. If someone in a previous game was banned for cheating, you let the person know, and compensate them. Ranks don't really matter anymore in DBD but in say chess for example, they give you back your rating. In DBD, tossing you 100k bloodpoints would be enough for most people.

Very informative. Thank you for breaking it down.

  • @Archol123 said:

I find that answer option a bit biased to begin with... But I don't see a problem with this perk whatsoever.

BHVR has said language like that in the past when explaining why they made certain choices, so that's why I chose it. I can't remember the exact changes they were describing, but I *think* one of them was when they were explaining why the anti-face camping mechanic disabled at endgame.

  • @Starrseed said:

no and your only no answer drips with survivor bias

That's your bias. I tried coming up with as many answers as possible, reflecting different opinions and reasonings. For instance, "The whole perk needs to be reworked" could have just as easily meant it needs a major "buff" as it needs a "nerf." And "it should be deleted" could be for any number of reasons. Regarding the other options, players who play both roles can often see shades in any perk where it could possibly be adjusted, as reflected in option 2 and 4. That might mean it buffs in one way but nerfs in another. It might mean that a timer gets extended or a radius gets adjusted but the effects stay the same. There are many options. And for anything I missed, I made that an option too. In reality, I had one purely killer option and one purely survivor.

  • @Crowman said:

If the gens are done then the killer is much less likely to roam far from the hook to go chase after the information given by this perk. And survivors can just open the exit gate and leave.

This perk hardly needs to be disabled in end game.

    Thanks for responding!

Gather round children for Tippy has a story for you!

I was born with my achilles tendons too short. So for most of my childhood, I would walk/run up on my tiptoes. When I played soccer in Middle School, the kids were not very nice to child Tippy and called me Tippy (derogatory) as a way to make fun of me.

A few years later, my family moves and I'm starting in high school. I'm not 100% sure why he even started doing it but my stepbrother started calling me Tippy there. However, this time we took Tippy back and it became my nickname as a high schooler rather than a way to make fun of me. At some point online, I started adding the 2k2 just because it was always kind of hit or miss if "Tippy" by itself would be available. So now I add 2k2 to my name on everything rather than gamble on just Tippy being available.

Most of my friends now know/refer to me as Tippy rather than my actual name. I am also Uncle Tippy to my nieces and nephews.

:) very good story. Thank you.

LMAO, I made this exact topic when Nick was released, as I literally saw this movie the night before.

    lol really? how funny lol

BHVR definitely needs to do some variation of this look (if they can't do an exact replica because they don't want to shell out the $$$ to the studio). It's perfect for DBD lol
