Surely it's not finished and they will expand it like what they ended up doing with Shelter Woods. R-right?

I'm afraid we might be stuck with this for at least 3 years until they decide, "ah yes. This map could use a rework."

  • Just do it. That sounds like the most simplistic and brash answer but hear me out. Yes, you will get rolled but that's where the improvement lies. You can't get better unless you push yourself and your boundaries.

If you feel dumb for making the mistakes during this learning process, go anon mode. Your name won't be shown so the other players won't have a name to associate with the survivor learning how to work a new build. They can't pull up your profile if you're anonymous.

  • @Choaron said:

Fun fact; Clown got killswitched in 2022 because of a glitch allowing him to permanently have the yellow bottle effect.

And it's now a feature. What a treat for us all

  • @Rapid99 said:

It's the fact it wasn't supposed to be a map. There was no map on the roadmap with this chapter, they literally said "this is not a new map and it's just here to show off the new tile". So how on god's green earth they reached the conclusion to put in a literal TESTING ZONE, as an official map into the game is just… this dev team genuinely just cannot get anything right.

I think they had an idea, a vision for what they wanted to do - I believe there's this idea/theory floating around (don't mark me on this I could be very wrong and if so, feel free to correct me) they wanted this special tile to spawn in any map if a walking dead character was in play and it didn't work out resulting in leaving.... This as the final result. I would've rather them be honest that their vision didn't work and didn't want to give us an incomplete map, doing the IP dirty so they're pulling it to rework which would be released at a later date but nope. Never happened. Instead we get stuck with this most basic, beta, ugly play test I have ever seen in this game.

I’m not even particularly a Walking Dead fan and I’m offended on behalf of y’all. This map is just terrible. Other than ONE unique tile, there’s nothing about it that’s remotely Walking Dead. It’s incredibly generic and the green filter is nauseating.

Yeah the filtering is very ugly. I don't know what they were thinking with this map but I want to cry each time I compare it to the other licensed maps. It's so so awful

Not sure why this didn't quote you the first time.

This map sucks in every single way. I made a post about all the issues this map has. But in short: This map gave BHVR more work and us nothing but misery.

For real. To play devil's advocate real quick here to BHVR, I think they put themselves in a pickle with the community either way. I was thinking earlier I would've been happier if they had taken the critique from the ptb of how people said this map felt vastly unfinished and announced they were holding off on its release as it didn't hold up to their standards or the standards of the license in order to make a full and complete map (I still would've loved if they kept the don't open dead inside door) but then I realized.... The community would be complaining either way. They had two options: hold off on release of the map or go through with this "map" knowing this is the version that would go live.

Personally I think holding off would've been a better option to do the map and IP justice because I don't think I'm alone in saying this but the vast majority are very unhappy with this end product. It sucks. Beyond measure.

  • @TMCalypso said:

I would love to talk about the map, but it NEVER shows up, at least for me it doesn't. Even with the offering (which is useless as it seems to guarantee you do not ever get that realm) I never see it. The fact that there is an escape achievement attached to this thing, that is apparently the rarest map in the game, and survivability on it is so low… Just…what were y'all thinking when creating this map?

I thought the tile was supposed to appear on almost any map if a TWD character was in play? Why didn't you go through with that?

It has a low spawn rate for sure. Myself, I've only seen it twice. If we're talking balance wise on top of aesthetics it's absolutely atrocious to play as survivor. Absolutely terrible.

The map has an ugly tint, the map doesn't resemble its license at all, it has bad tiles, the achievement is hard to get for people (I was lucky enough to get it first try so whenever I do get that god forsaken map I do other gens and let others have the chance to get the middle gen for the achievement progress). I have never felt more depressed loading into a match as I do when I load into Fallen Refuge.

I just hate that map so much.

  • @cogsturning said:

Yeah it's got big first draft energy. I couldn't care less about this franchsise and even I was like "this is it?" Hopefully they'll do a rework.

I think that was all of our reactions. Lol there's quite a few locations they could have done and it feels very odd they didn't use a single one. They just used the ######### doors with spray paint on it from season one and called it a day with maybe some added fencing from the prison. Fencing. I can't believe this map is real.

  • I don't mind the hit to scamper to prevent free hits, I can get you without needing to rely on free hits. my problem with it is the turn rate for scampering. If devs don't look into the turn rate of scamper it'll become practically useless. It also nerfs his gameplay at shack. You could pop hidey ho mode and mindgame the window through scamper which to my understanding will be impossible now mixed with the awful cruise control when scampering through shack window.

I hope they look into the turn rate at least. Doesn't have to be anything crazy, just something to make scamper now not be kinda useless.

I switched to another game after giving up trying to get in but that's cool to know next time I get on 😎 thanks for the update Mandy.

  • Still waiting for System Smasher. That Nea head is my favorite and it's not available. :(

  • I hope so. It'd give room for variety which is always welcomed.

  • It's not OP. It does its job of showing you where everyone started, your first chase and where to go next. It also shows you how screwed you can be with survivors spawning on a gen each - that's what's really nuts about it and honestly kind've depressing at times but it's a fine perk. Perfect spot I'd say.

  • @Ghouled_Mojo said:

I’m always solo and I’ve only played three games against her so far. I usually look for two TVs close together and just keep the tape. I haven’t been condemned yet but like I said it’s only been three games so far.

I haven't either. Last one I ran into last night was a slugdako. After she moried two of my teammates at 3 gens, the fourth became condemnable but she left him slugged for later - she wanted that juicy 4 man condemn and it became a battle of wills between her and I. She came close to condemning me quite a few times, I barely managed to get rid of it (she was using the iri tape + comb combo). The slug almost bled out and at that point, she didn't want to lose the third mori I guess, got impatient and mori'd him. I died to the entity in one final chase. It's hard when the Sadako sets out for that condemn at all costs.

  • @Blueberry said:

I personally would like her left how she is, the condemn play style from both sides feels unique and engaging as it puts a lot of multitasking and involvement with tapes which weren’t a thing prior. The times I see it appear overly strong is only when survivors ignore the tapes and get punished for not respecting the condemn, as they should.

Outside of the condemn build I think she’s really bad. If they for some reason nerfed her condemn build she would need massive buffs around everything else.

Still don’t understand why a stealth killer has a lullaby. It’s just silly.

I really agree with this whole statement. I've played as and against Onyro since the patch dropped.

As survivor, I haven't been condemned. At all. My teammates on the other hand, wait until they quite a few stacks built up before taking care of the tape so they usually die at either 4-5 gens. But I much prefer this Sadako over the old one, I absolutely detested the old Sadako best strat, slugdemn, it was so boring. I feel like this is more interactive if you become unglued from the gen momentarily to make sure you don't die. If you wait too long to grab one, it can be a gg from there - stay on top of the tapes.

As Sadako, I've played with the hook and condemn build. My build consists of hit and run, take a hook when I can, never slugdemn but aim for the condemn if possible. It requires me to do a lot of macro play such as keeping up with survivors who have tapes and punishing those who ignore my condemn and those are the ones who usually die at 4 gens when I'm Sadako. I've really been liking the pacing of the game with this strat and seeing how it all plays out. Chasing is usually a bad idea as she has no chase power (at least, I perform better with my strat above which involves little chasing). I do hooking as part of my condemn build to also build pressure through hook states so it gives me more to work with than just solely condemn.

At the moment, I feel like everyone is still getting used to the changes and how to counter her so she feels more powerful than she is. I enjoy playing Sadako a lot but the couple games I did have with survs who had the idea how to counter her, it was harder when they held onto a tape and played safer and when people figure this out, she will struggle a little more.

I hope the devs don't change her though, I really like this Sadako.

  • I made this exact argument / comment in another thread. Unfortunately, the game is being balanced around kills and escapes which means achieving the most efficient way to do it which is also the most unfun. Gone are the fun days and it's just win. No matter the cost at the expense of the other side's enjoyment. We all want to play the game to have fun but it's stopped being fun and it turned into who can sweat harder.

It's great there's an anti camping mechanic coming but the tunneling will get worse.

  • Wasn't a regular viewer, I checked in from to time but my heart absolutely breaks for him and those closest to him. I almost never have solo q teammates that bring reassurance. So it's only me. So much for "it's stackable". In theory yes. In practice only I bring it in my matches. And camping needs to be punished, because it's a lazy way to get kills. Since I'm the only one of my teammates bringing reassurance, I need to be able to activate it multiple times, to incite the killer to actually play the game and go for chases, rather than just stay near the hooked survivor until they die. That is very unhealthy for the game. It's not fun for the hooked survivor, and it rewards killers for being lazy and terrible at the game.

At the end of the day, you're in solo queue. Everyone's gonna bring what they feel like / want. They're not psychics that can read your mind for the future to know to bring Reassurance. If they don't, which usually they don't then that just sucks. This mentality honestly reminds me of before BT was basekit, people would get frustrated their solo teammates didn't bring BT and just farmed them off hook. Both are frustrating scenarios (well, BT has been made base so no longer that) but it's not the solos fault. They don't have to bring it if they don't want to. If you want to, fine, but expecting other solos to is expecting too much and you're setting yourself up for disappointment when you get camped.

Speaking of camping, what kind of camping we talking about? Facecamping? Like, standing in front of the first survivor caught and never move at 5 gens facecamp? Fixing camping imo is tricky. Sometimes a killer camps if they're aware other survivors are swarming the hook or there's only 2 gens left and someone needs to die so they'll camp it out. It's a strategy whether you like it or not. Facecamping is unfortunate but just go next. You're only making yourself miserable with this mindset.

    • Spirit: Muddy Sports Cap at all times with either the talisman or ribbon.
    • Demogorgon: Barb's Glasses and Mews Guts.
    • Skull Merchant: Randomized Strobes and Geographical Readout. Brown Noise Generator is also pretty good.
    • Wraith: Blind Warrior (White). It's nice to have Sloppy in the form of an addon, gives me room in my loadout for another perk.

I used to be a Pig and Legion main and I always used Jigsaw's Anointed Plan + Tampered Timer & whatever addons I felt like since I always run an endfury build on them (Usually the glasses one I think and oblivious) when I'm in the mood to play them.

  • I'd contact support on both BHVR and Sony then your credit card company. I had a similar issue with Sony for at least a year and a half where it wouldn't take my card anymore, it gave me "an error has occurred", I then contacted my bank and I was basically given the run around by both Sony and my company so I eventually gave up and had to buy digital codes and redeem from the PS store if I wanted anything.

Turns out, it had something to do with my credit card company despite them saying it wasn't a them problem. The issue was solved recently when I switched companies and got a whole new card. Funny that.

Hope it gets resolved easily and quickly for you. Good luck.

I mean I haven't heard them at all and the thing that makes me think there bugged is that the RE characters as well as Ash still speak.

Just because some of us heard it once doesn't mean it's not bugged. They're clearly not playing as they should when compared to the RE characters and Ash. When I play Jill or Ada, they usually always speak in lobbies, Thalita and Renato don't so their audio tracks might indeed be bugged.

  • Not on Xbox but on PlayStation and I've only heard their voicelines once and I'm partly a Thalita main (Kate, Jill & Ada main usually! Sometimes I dabble in Nancy) that sees Renato's a lot while being simultaneously in the lobby and only heard it once....

  • A rework I had in mind for MDR or a whole new Spirit Addon altogether is an aura addon.

    Current MDR:

A silver ring engraved with "for my precious daughter".

    • Increases the Movement speed during the Phase-Walk by +40 %.
    • Scratch Marks are no longer visible while using Yamaoka's Haunting.

    A reworked idea:

A silver ring engraved with "for my precious daughter".

    • Reveals the aura of any survivors within 12 meters of the Spirit after leaving a phase for 4 seconds. The Spirit gains a 2% haste effect for 3 seconds(<- this part I'm ? about).
    • Reduces Yamaoka's haunting recharge time by 10 or 15%
    • Trumps all other addons.

So it wouldn't stack with the teacup addon that immediately gives you back the power if stunned or Rusty Flute to recharge quicker. Some other addons would probably have to be looked at so it wouldn't be stupidly OP with other addons if the trumping is too much or too penalizing.

Obviously, I'm not a dev so I wouldn't know if it's good or not but it's an idea that gives potential for fun builds.

That, and everyone running Merciless Storm all of a sudden.

I actually faced a Spirit sometime ago with busted addons, slowdowns and the merciless storm bug in Solo Q and she still managed to not get a single kill. She was so salty after the match when I called her out on her bs and failed attempt at exploiting bugs.

People have been abusing Merciless Storm lately. Went against a Plague yesterday abusing it, it just needs to be killswitched again.

Since they fixed the audio bug few weeks ago, I noticed there is far less Spirits than before the bug was fixed.

Spirit was common Killer, I saw her many times, daily even. Now Its back again how it used to be before the bug appeared lol.

Same happend with the Oni bug I belive. Many people just seek to get any slight advantage they can get lol.

    Sad.

I've went against a few Spirits lately after the bug fix but not as many I've noticed. I also haven't been playing Spirit as often lately but I still play her if I'm not playing Demo, Skully or Wraith. The ones still loyal to her are out there... we do still play her. I play her often because she's just one of my favorite killers I enjoy. Not because she was bugged. Though I do agree it says a lot about a person when they purposefully abuse an exploit for a dub.

We have very detailed dashboards that show not only pick rates, but also win rates for each perk and/or loadout. When something is not only used often but also makes people far more likely to win, it's a sign that it's doing far more than other perks. Ideally people should be winning their matches because they played well, not because they put on the strongest stuff. That said, data isn't everything. Each of the perks in this next update had no shortage of complaints.

The alternative of leaving them as is leads to a meta that becomes very stale after a while. When there's so many perks in the game, it can get a bit boring to play against the same dozen or so over and over. Over the past year or so, we've been making sure that any emerging metas don't stick around too long.

Ideally people should be winning their matches because they played well, not because they put on the strongest stuff.

Hi Peanits! Does this only apply to perks? Because I have to say I'm a little disappointed hearing this statement when Blight's strongest addons (Alch Ring is the biggest one), Myers Tombstone addons and Spirit's addons (Mother Daughter Ring + Amulet) are still in the game. Are these players not essentially winning a majority of their games by bringing the best stuff in the form of addons? Perks can be strong and all but so can addons.

  • I think the Skull Merchant is just causing crashing. It's insane this hasn't been fixed yet. When I play as or against her, I crash. It's not consecutive but it is annoying when it does happen, I get match making locks for it though it's not my fault.

  • Same here. Came by to make a report only to see it's already been reported.

I just crashed while playing as the new killer on Borgo. Chased a david around a pallet, kicked it then went to kick a gen and I crashed.

I also crashed on release day playing against her on Garden of Joy. Was looping her around a pallet then my game crashed.

I've gotten penalties for these crashes that aren't my fault.

EDIT: game completely crashes for me as well. Closes the game and gives me an error.

Her lore is meh but I am glad at least they didn’t fall on the trope of a woman has to have a tragic background in order to be a psychopath.

    And she got shoes. 😳

  • Most likely. I've let the last 24 hours soak in and marinate and have some first thoughts and come to not hate them like everyone else.

Merchant while I agree with most she could use major buffs or changes and she's not the best. Kind've a bad backstory tbh but I like the idea of her. I like her more than Knight, I think he's extremely boring, moreso than she is. I'm not in no rush to buy Knight whatsoever which is how a lot of people feel about Merchant. I'd play her over him any day. I wish she had more to do with her teaser aka involving skulls but I like technological things, drone things so I like the aesthetic. I like how she doesn't come with a tragic backstory and is just is deranged, however, I could think of much better backstories to represent her psychopathy rather than what's there currently. Visually, I dislike her walk animation. Hugely. In game, it feels so stiff. It'd been cooler if she looked more mechanical with whirring sounds to her which is only one place where I think people are having issues with her, she might've been more well reciprocated if her appearance was less Apex, more mechanical horror. Overall though, I'd play her. I can already see some ways to play her I'm eager to try out. Never gonna use her mori though because admittedly, that does suck. It's so bad. I hope the devs come up with a new mori before release. Likely? No. Wishful thinking? Yes.

I like Thalita. Renalto is okay but Thalita is such a cutie. All the perks including Merchants are whatever honestly, I don't see a star player on any of them.

The only thing I might struggle with depending on if its timed is the buttons when getting the claw traps off. I'm dyslexic so I hope it won't screw me over. I can't play the PTB so I can't see for myself how it operates.

I may have a different opinion a month or so after release but we'll see. I don't think I'd play her more than Spirit, Demo, Wesker or Sadako but I don't hate her guts.

It's not asking for a kill switch either, then it wouldve been reported in the bug report forum. So since it clearly isnt that, this means they are just trying to get the next wave of survivor crap started. I remain at my previous statement: Called it.

The title of the thread says killswitch so it is saying she should be killswitched until the bug is resolved.

As for it not being in the bug report, a mod will probably move it there in the future because it should be there.

..... Seriously? Well this blows for us who play Spirit regularly. Kind've annoying to me if that's the case. It's almost like those people want to play "old" Spirit again and this is their chance to do it instead of utilizing her kit.

No it’s not because you can hear where she’s coming from.

Spirits can do all sorts of mindgames while phasing as @GannTM pointed out. When I play Spirit, I catch people a lot of the time who try to camp pallets. It usually doesn't work unless it's a god pallet and I'm forced to break it. Just trying to add some perspective as a Spirit player myself.

  • @legacycolt said:

There’s not much you can do against spirit. Try to not get injured at all cost and if you’re injured, camp pallets if she’s phasing towards you. If you have no headset/ bad ears you don’t have a chance.

    Spirit needs a nerf imo

Camping pallets injured is the worst thing you can do against a Spirit...

  • There's a few reasons. The main one I think is time investment. They've already sank in all that time already chasing you and feel the game is over when they finally caught you with 2-3 gens remaining so they (in their mind) have it they're gonna confirm the one kill and call it good. If they face camp it out, chances are they'll try to tunnel as well rounding back to the whole confirming one kill thing.

Then there's just some people that think you looping them is toxic, I dunno what to say about that one honestly.

  • @Nun_So_Vile said:

I for one enjoy map offerings and probably use them every other game unless I'm out (which is rare considering how much they pop up in blood web now and how easy and inexpensive they are to obtain). Until I hear of a better system to replace it, I don't see the issue with having them. Unless you're just eager to get dicked on by ######### map RNG and sent Eyrie over and over when you're just tryna "meme around" on Trapper. Or you keep getting sent to Midwhich on Surv. Then these people come to the forums and complain about map RNG sucks and realm selection algorithm is busted.

Eyrie as Trapper is pain. When I load into the game as Trapper on Eyrie, it's ggs already.

I think the only time I've played against a successful Trapper on that map was he adapted to the RNG that gave him Eyrie and ditched the traps because luckily for him, he had a hex build (Haunted, Devour, etc). He got himself 9 hooks, a 1k - better than the other Trappers I've faced on that map.

You gotta really ######### up as a player and or team to lose to a Trapper on Eyrie.

"All green addons in particular need to be nerfed because we resized maps and removed addons that represented a large bulk of green bloodweb items" does not feel like a logical conclusion.

You said "favor strong addons." I thought we were talking about iri addons or purples.

  • @RainehDaze said:

The usual problem is removing them means a huge swathe of empty bloodweb, which would either super favour strong addons etc. or... what?

The obvious suggestion has been that offerings should ban certain realms.

Nerf the addons if the maps are all a reasonable size? Besides that, I don't see where the bloodweb and its items would be an issue.

I do like the idea of offerings being realm bannings though with that, you'd never see a majority of maps again so wouldn't a rework of the maps to be better suited for killers and survivors just be a better idea?

  • I think the game is less about hide and seek now and more chase + gen oriented so it makes sense to nerf IW the way it was.

Unfortunately, you just have to adapt to the way it is now. With some survivors, I still get immense value out of the perk. I still like running it. I don't mind it doesn't work while exhausted; I still get value almost every game. If you're playing louder survivors which all the ones you've listed and Ash are the loudest survivors in existence, it can be like you don't even have the perk on to which I also recommend Off the Record. You get the old IW effects for, I think, 90 seconds?

Might I also recommend Bite the Bullet + Self Care and a medkit? Before any assumptions are made, you don't have to fully self care and potentially be a detriment to the team - you can give yourself an insta old IW at will whenever the killer is approaching and you don't want to be spotted and then go back on your gen or whatever it was you were doing.

There are other things you can do if IW isn't working for you. Unfortunately, you do have to give up perk slots to make up for one but it's better than there being absolutely nothing out there to achieve old IW / stealth I think.

  • Those were my games today.

I actually don't know what frustrated me the most from today: my teammates or the killers. Each killer it seemed had a set goal in mind when they played today and that was camp and tunnel the first guy they caught. They definitely came prepared to tackle on a stacked 4 man. Killers bleeding me out for I guess the lols? I don't know but I got bled out a couple times while they hovered my body.

I had teammates self caring against a Legion. I did the only two gens that got done; injured while they had to heal each time they got frenzied. :/ I had teammates unhooking in killer's faces or farming unhooks, essentially killing the game as soon as it begins by allowing the killer immense pressure with at least 2 people on death hook before the first gen popped or letting teammates, me included, die on first hook or being too scared to take aggro when they hadn't been hooked yet after unhooking.

Teammates DC'ing at the start of the game or for the tunneling. A lot of DCs happened today I noticed because of tunneling. When the killer was presented with options, they chose to instead tunnel the guy unhooked when there's still five generators up.

Then there was just me beginning to not play well as it is because I was already frustrated with the above.

I'm a solo player so I expect the minimum of some of this behavior as nothing out of the ordinary but it's usually one or two games in like, ten but today was the worst it's been for a while match making wise.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I just had to take a break it was so mentally draining.

Tunneling is a problem of Unhookers pulling Survivors off too fast, they do this all the time, I take three steps away and they have unhooked. I have no incentive to hunt the unhooker, he has 2 health states and dead hard probably. The unhooked has 1 health state and dead hard probably. bHVR needs to increase safe unhook score event to until healed or 1min to prevent other Survivors farming each other for unhook points and causing tunneling. Let the Killers be big baddies, the problem is with your teammates.

Not entirely true. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I've been in games where the killer hooks my teammate, gets into a chase with me relatively, spaciously, distant from the hook and the moment they get the unhook notif, they drop the chase immediately, turn right around to go tunnel.

At that point, the killer should just face camp in my opinion.

  • Each survivor can pick four killers they favour

That's gonna be a dead mode then. Lol

Jokes aside, The only issue I can see with this mode though, as always, are the super competitive people who will use it as a way to best their skills. Sounds fun in theory, but the competitive nature of this game I feel would ruin it.

  • Nope. It only pauses in chase. Which is why you'll see some Pigs crouching and following you when they suspect you're near death and they wanna see the head pop.

  • Omg yes bless. I feel like if I'm not the obsession and am being chased, nothing gets done but if they see the little bones jiggle they might be inclined to actually do gens so I usually feel I need to be the obsession every game (which I usually am ^_^) in order for my team to do stuff and get bummed when I'm not.

Knowing what my teammates are doing and will be able to make decisions around it will be so so nice. Looking forward to this update, thank you!

  • Quite a few trolls in this thread.... why are we feeding them?

All I'll say is I'm in the minority league where incap should only be applied to killer powers.
