Do they seriously need surveys to understand that everybody hates the Billy nerf? It was among the dumbest things BHVR ever done in this game.
The little buffs they gave him in the next patch do next to nothing because it doesn't change why his reworked add-ons are trash in the first place.
You have a killer that's free with the game and despite that nobody plays him anymore; what more evidence you want that people DON'T like playing Billy these days.
So you are saying you are not playing Billy because they removed the insta saw busted combo?

Boon totems might make the perk better. Hear me out.
Plaything turns a totem into a hex totem. A survivor blesses that totem. The killer stamps it.
This now means you have another dull totem for Plaything to re-hex instead of getting at max 5 uses. You now have theoretically 8 uses (since the other 4 hooks will kill the survivor).
Except that no one in his right mind will use Boon perks after the nerf. Spending more than 1/4 of a generator to bless one totem that gives you an effect in a tiny range that the killer can cancel in one second is a bad time investment.

This isn't a both sides issue. Survivors are not the ones running around making giant complicated whine threads about how every killer is a terrible player that needs their hand held and having most of the survivors on the forum mass upvote it as if what was said is profound. How about instead of making threads like this you call out these killers(And sure, if you see a survivor doing it call them out too.)

Nope. I like the Wraith nerf(Already preparing to be dogpiled for that opinion too.) But I have also supported nerfing Boons and even Dead Hard. Biased my ass.
What are you even responding to? I said "most people" which obviously means there are exceptions. I didn't mention you by name. Chill.

Most people around here act like this game is their day job and their life depends on having their side buffed and the other side nerfed. If someone dares suggest otherwise, it's perceived as a personal insult.
People need to realize they are playing a character in a video game, that's all.

Ooops, it just got nerfed and will never activate.
I don't see any reason not to toggle the switch and allow EAC to run on Proton.

Random can't exist in a video game. There is always something that decides what RNG gives. Most use seeds based on time or frame data, others use player input, some do a mix. Point is that random is not random in video games as true random can not exist.
Something about the RNG system DbD uses is ######### as it is clearly favoring certain realms or even exact maps more than others.
Over 2 sessions I had 3 maps be picked twice each in a small sample of games. Others are saying they as well are getting repeats of exact maps or only a small selection of the total. That isn't random, that's a pattern of something wrong in the game's RNG.
After looking back, Iv also noticed the RNG system repeating itself in my bloodwebs. Out of the 90 or so Killer perks in DbD, I have 84 unlocked (don't own 2 Killers). My Cenobite at level 26 has 14 total perks. ALL of them tier 2. Somehow RNG managed to repeat pick 11 perks (you start with the 3 teachables) twice out of 84 in total. What are the odds of that? Compare that to my Clown who's P1 level 27 and hasn't been touched in a long while. He has 26 total perks with 4 of them at tier 2.
A level 26 Killer with 14 tier 2 perks, compared to a level 27 Killer with 26 perks who only 4 are tier 2. Something about the RNG broke and is giving repeats.
My Twins is doing the same thing. Recently ground out them and is at level 40 with 20 perks. 3 tier 3, 14 tier 2, and 3 tier 1. My Twins is showing just as much repeat picks as my Cenobite. Nemesis isn't much better at P1 level 49 with 28 perks and 13 of them being tier 3!
Once more. Something about the RNG system is clearly giving FAR too many repeats and is no where near "random".
I'm aware pure randomness is impossible in software. But I felt like explaining that is too much detail to go into. Point is, if you always start with a different seed(a typical seed is the current Unix timestamp because it is monotonically increasing) then you will get different numbers - which is close enough to random.
I already explained how favoring realms with multiple maps can happen so I suggest you read that again. Without knowing the specific implementation details we can only speculate, but it's reasonable to assume the system picks a map at random from the entire map pool: each map has an equal chance of 1/total_number_of_maps. However, since maps are not evenly distributed between realms, this system favors realms with more maps. This doesn't imply that something is wrong with the map picking system, it works as it is supposed to do. The "problem"(if you want to call it that) is the uneven map distribution, which yields a number_of_maps_per_realm * (1 / total_number_of_maps) chance to get a certain REALM(not map). This could be fixed by firstly picking a realm with 1/number_of_realms and then picking a map inside that realm.
There is also the fact that a while back devs added a system that allows them to increase the chance of picking certain maps. It was used around chapter launches to favor the new map, especially during PTBs. For all, we know they may periodically mess with the map picker to favor certain maps. Perhaps they want more games to be played on particular maps to better assess map balance. But again, this is just a theory.
I also doubt that the devs implemented their own random number generator - they probably rely on the C++ standard library. Then, there is no way something is wrong with the generator unless they forgot to initialize the generator with a seed or their system is more complex than picking a number at random and indexing the map array with it.
-
I'm pretty sure they already have 1 million active users across all platforms. It isn't that hard to believe: steam, ms store, ps, xbox, switch and mobile.
-
It is random. Somehow people expect random numbers to always be different. That's not how it works. It is entirely possible to draw the same random number 100 times in a row. Sure, it's unlikely, but it is possible.
The same thing applies to maps.
Also, depending on how the system is implemented, it may cause a bias towards realms with more maps. If the system first picks a realm and then a map in that realm there is no bias and every realm is equally possible. However, if the system directly picks a map then you have a higher chance of going to the realms with more maps.
For example, there are 5 autohaven maps. If there are 35 maps in total, then that's a 5 in 35(or 1 in 7) chance to go to autohaven. On the other hand, the chance of going to the swamp-themed maps is 2/35 because there are only 2 swamp maps.

It is completely wrong to say that nobody likes the Map. I dont like it either, but I just accept that there are things in this game I dont like. I can also open 33 Forum Threads about it, but I wont do that. If I play on RPD (which is a rare occasion), I just play it. And next game, I will have another Map.
However, there were players who said they loved this Map. So saying nobody likes it is as wrong as it can be.
But it shows the mentality.. "Push it to be changed", this is happening a lot in this Forum. Mass-complaints about one thing until it gets changed and then off to the next thing to push...
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the targeted mass complaints. It's not a new thing either, dates back to the steam forums days.
-
Not nerfing it in the first place.
-
Then don't use it. Problem solved.
There are 200+ perks on both sides that are complete garbage and need buffs. Pop is not one of them. You just want your strong perk to be completely busted.

Bugs and gameplay changes are two very different things, some bugs require more time and work to be fixed and they end up in a bugfix patch, as @Mooks stated.
Changes can be and are made very frequently in between PTB and release, Lucky Break being one of the most recent cases, that's why I'm asking to give feedback, instead of jumping at each other's throat.
Do you mean how they terribly overreacted and completely trashed Lucky Break after the PTB? So what are you saying is they will use the same nerf hammer on the boon perks and trash them too. Good to know.
-
Yes, please.

I know people dislike nurse having good addons because of her base power. But a killer should always have good power and addons. Just because nurse is the "strongest killer" doesnt mean her addons need to be a meme.
Yes, that's exactly what it means. When you can basically demolish everyone with just the BASE POWER, adding strong addons on top of that is just stupid.

NOED was capped at 2 minutes. Then it turned into a HEX which can potentially last forever but can be cleansed.
DH wasn't timed before, there is no reason to turn into a boon perk.
-
@Kebek said:
Sounds scary doesn't it.
But if so, can killers rebuild their hex totems if they get cleased ?
Or is that a survivor privilege since they wouldn't enjoy a perk that can be permanently removed without the option to re-activate it.
Killers can defend their totems. Survivors can not.
The only way boon perks would work is if the survivors can rebuild them.

You know me I just get concerned that Spirit will be unfun after the nerf. If I didn’t love her as much as I did but I still enjoyed playing as her, I’m sure it wouldn’t be that big of a deal to me.
She was unfun to survivors for 3 years. If she's unfun after the nerf wait 3 years and then you can have her changed.
-
Of course you don't, nothing short of spawning survivors already hooked is ever going to be "enough".
-
I don't understand you people.
The point of any ranking system is to avoid placing beginners with veteran players, it is that simple. You want some kind of metric that you use to create games so you match people with similar game experience together.
You are all acting like SBMM is something extremely fancy or it is going to turn DBD into csgo faceit. BHVR simply replaced their emblems ranking system with another ranking system in an effort to create more balanced matches. That's all there is to it. Stop blowing it out of proportion. It's not the first time when they switch the "ranking" system: from bloodpoints to the killer's victory cube to emblems and now to sbmm. They could have called it Ranking System Number 5 for all I care(and you should too). Stop stressing over the fact that it contains "skill" inside its name, it is simply yet another ranking system. They probably wanted to emphasize the point that this system is able to create more fair pairings than the previous one so they used the word "skill". Poor choice of words if you ask me.
If there is no ranking system and you just pair people at random then you completely drive off the new players.
-
People swore they are done playing Spirit after her first nerf because she would be so bad. Guess what: nothing changed and Spirit remained just as busted. Stop panicking and over-exaggerating every damn time.
-
Repressed Alliance shouldn't require charging. You use it when you want and then it goes on a cooldown of either 30 or 60 seconds. Then you can use it again. No repairing needed.
I don't know from where this notion started that all survivor perks must be activated by doing some lengthy action, but it starts to get annoying when most of the new perks have this mechanic. At least come with something more interesting than "repair a generator for 5 million years to activate this very situational perk with an insignificant effect".
Personally, I would like to see Distorsion and Mettle of Man buffed. For Distorsion I'd like the perk to light up each time your aura is revealed, regardless of the number of tokens and a way to replenish tokens, and for MOM I'd like to see the PTB version(protection hits + unhooks), but with a cooldown for gaining tokens so you can't unhook, take a hit and instantly get 2 tokens. At the very least, remove the horrible drawback for MOM. You basically throw the game to activate it and then get punished for it even more.

Damn yeah because it's a survivor complaint it should be immidiately cast aside because killer has it worse that's 100% very good for game health.
If something is infuriating to a lot of people, then it should be fixed, regardless of side, be it perks, add-ons, or objective speed.
Nah, killers are special snowflakes and only their opinions and issues matter.
-
The way to increase build diversity is to actually start creating some good perks. Adding arbitrary restrictions to the decent perks to force people to use the bad ones is a stupid idea. The only thing it will accomplish is to make people stop wanting to play survivor since they are forced to use boring, completely useless and unfun perks.
If there are more than 5 good perks then different people will pick different perks and builds will be different. But we can't have that because as soon as they buff a survivor perk killer mains lose their minds and bully the devs into nerfing it back into oblivion(looking at you, Lucky Break).
If you don't agree with this it just means you don't actually want "build diversity", you want to force survivors to stop using good perks and you are just using "build diversity" as a justification.
Build diversity != using horrible perks.
-
Mettle Of Man will be reworked into a boon totem perk, mark my words.
-
When survivors complain about a new killer after one week or so everyone loses their ######### because you have to wait 15 years before saying anything.
When a killer nerf is announced everyone knows it will make the killer trash without even playing with said killer.
Hypocrisy much?
-
As per usual, survivor perks "buffs" that won't change anything because they are still scared of making anything even remotely useful and the killer perks buff are nice and actually make the perks viable.
-
Spirit was unfair for years to survivors. Now you are complaining a deserved nerf will be UNFAIR FOR THE SPIRIT before you even got to play the changed killer.
Nice try, but no.
-
You guys said the same thing after her first nerf and surprise surprise, nothing changed. Spirit remained just as busted. Stop crying and wait to play with a killer before panicking.

Nurse isn't as fast as you think. Holding W might be less effective compared to a 115% killer, but it's effective if she's not using omega blink.
That's Blight's main power, so no surprises there.
Wraith can do that (and it's helpful), but he has little anti-loop power, so basically holding W becomes secondary for the survivor.
Billy can cut the distance by a bit, but the 3 second cooldown will maintain some distance regardless. If there's clutter in the way, it'll become comical.
I have no idea why we're bringing up Victor. That'll happen only a very specific circumstance with the Twins.
If they're running to a gen, maybe, but under most circumstances, no. That, and they'd have to fall for an obvious trick. So no, still is a standard 115% killer in most circumstances.
Well you don't use Demo do you?
Hag doesn't chase, so that's irrelevant.
At a sweet spot. At a certain distance, the survivor can react. Also, with cover in the way, it's worse for her than the average killer.
Did you just list one of the biggest victims of the W key as one of the killers that counters it?
If survivors outplay you by holding W while you play Nurse then you probably aren't any good at playing her. Not trying to be rude, but it's a fact.
-
Look at me, I'm so superior because I decided to not run any perks. Everyone else is stupid because they had the audacity to use whatever perks or items they wanted to. It's almost like they bought their own game and are allowed to play it in any way they want.
-
With a lengthy cooldown, like 60 seconds, it would work.

Confirmation bias at its finest. There is no such thing as one side's offering having priority. End of story.

More and more killers are just getting better and better at the game and keeping the balance focused towards more casual killers is a mistake. The bar needs to be set way higher for this game to have any survivor players left.

Really, really failed.
First, because you said that BHVR is testing something.
Second, because you assumed that if something is released there is no legit reasons to change it, which is simply insane.
I think you really lack reading comprehension. It's sad, really.
I never said it should not be changed. I said using something that was intentionally put inside the game is not abuse. Using an intended mechanic is fair game. If something is too strong then it should get nerfed. BUT, you aren't abusing anything by using a perk or item that may be currently too strong.
Taking advantage of a bug or using an exploit is abuse. I tried to explain this as simply as possible so you may understand it the 3rd time around. If not, feel free to reply something completely unrelated, again, and I will do my best to simplify this even more. Maybe a drawing will help?

Say like Mori's?
But not keys because those are fine right?
Did I say something like Mori's? Did I say anything about keys?
Something can be unbalanced or too strong, but it is not abuse. As long as it was put inside the game by the developers and not nerfed, it is not "abuse". You can abuse a bug, an exploit, not an intentional feature.
Using a mori or using a key is not abusing anything. But yes, both mori and keys were/are a bit too strong. Being too strong != being an exploit. Get your facts straight people.
-
From what I remember, devs only hardware ban after 3 regular bans. Therefore, if you get banned once it is perfectly fine to make another account and it wouldn't qualify as ban evasion. Otherwise, they would just hardware ban you with the first ban and call it a day.
Keep in mind that this info is really old(from around the time when they added hardware bans) so things may have changed.

Sanity check failed.
Not really. The perk is designed to be used in chases, therefore it is designed to EXTEND chases. You can't abuse something by using it the way it was supposed to be used. Maybe you killer mains are failing the sanity check when branding anything you do not like "abuse"?
The whole concept of perks is that they allow you to do something that would not be possible otherwise. Some of them allow you to extend chases, some of them allow you to do some actions faster. You can't claim that because a survivor perk works against the killer(again, which is what they were designed to do) it is abuse.
Killer perks work the same way. Corrupt blocks gens at the start of the game and you can't block gens without using a perk like Corrupt. Is it abuse when you run this perk?
You guys really need a reality check.

What's "a while ago"? Becaused averaged MMR was confirmed only a month or so ago.
I clearly stated "THE OLD MATCHMAKING", the ones which used ranks. Because of this, I assumed that their new matchmaking(MMR) will work the same way and just take the highest MMR.
To my knowledge, they never stated that MMR will be averaged for SWF.
-
A while ago they changed the old matchmaking to take the highest rank instead of an average. I assume they do the same thing now, queue using the highest MMR.
-
The devs designed a perk, implemented it in-game, tested and released it.
Killer mains: "wahaaaaaa ABUSE ABUSE ABUSE ABUSE ABUSE"
How can you abuse something that was intentionally put inside the game?
-
Killers, do you ever wonder how bad, entitled and full of yourself you sound when you make such topics?
But, let me ask you something else. Do you think how you affect queue times when you hard tunnel, hard camp a survivor? Do you ever think how you affect queue times when you use ruin, undying, tinkerer? Do you think how you affect queue times when you use spirit? You don't? Well, that's perfectly fine, cause something someone did in one particular game isn't going to do anything to queue times. Stop being so full of yourself.
