  • Why isn't the killer blocked from attacking survivors until a generator is being done?

Why are you ignoring the fact that you can down a survivor in basically 5 seconds?

Because you can't, unless the survivor is literally standing still.

Killers will get hooks so fast and it will likely offset the speed of repairing 10 generators.

    It really won't, no.

But this group of survivors is actually made of individuals who want to have fun.

The killers are also individuals who want to have fun.

And if each chase ends instantly, without any counterplay or input from the survivor, then there is no individual fun for each survivor.

You're the one saying chases would end instantly, though, not me. I also doubt killers would enjoy chases that last 5 seconds. Once in a while? Maybe. Every chase? Definitely not.

I don't play this game to hold m1 or just to see my character exiting thru the gate, I play it for the "push & pull" action that happens between the survivor and the killer, mostly in chases.

And I play to survive. I don't see why your goal matters more than mine.

It seems your thinking process only considered the killer side of the argument while there are 2 sides involved.

Not really, no. I considered the survivors' perspective too, which is why I don't want this to be completely tilted in the survivors' favor. I don't want to hold M1 for 160 seconds and then escape without really doing anything, all while the killers struggle to hook survivors.

And why would I trust you? Who is "we"?

    "We" being "old DbD players".

Why are you assuming I didn't think this thru?

I didn't, that was you, who assumed everyone else didn't think this through, as you can see here:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2465878#Comment_2465878

Goes to show how people don't really think things thru.

I was simply responding to what you said. So why were you assuming/claiming people don't think things through?

If you are trying to flex your hours, allow me to do the same. I started playing this game around the Nurse DLC, so I'm definitely part of "old dbd players".

I suggest you re-read my post. I already addressed most of your points.

1."The killers are also individuals who want to have fun."

What I said: "If you are correct and the gens will go by so fast then neither the killer nor the survivors will have a reason to play this game mode. Killers will not play because of how fast gens will be repaired and survivors will not play because there is no potential for being chased and actually doing something fun, instead of m1 simulator.

2."You're the one saying chases would end instantly, though, not me. I also doubt killers would enjoy chases that last 5 seconds. Once in a while? Maybe. Every chase? Definitely not."

Then this only strengthens my previous point, neither killers nor survivors will have any reason to play this game mode.

3."And I play to survive. I don't see why your goal matters more than mine."

This is definitely not what I was implying. You can technically survive by doing nothing the entire game, just hide around the map. It is hypothetically possible to survive like this, but it isn't fun. I assume you want a mix of everything: do some gens, get chased for a while, survive. This is fun because you are doing different things, not just the same thing over and over again. And if 2 killers gang up on the same survivor then being chased is a guaranteed down, nothing you can do. You can't even delay it by looping.

4."Not really, no. I considered the survivors' perspective too, which is why I don't want this to be completely tilted in the survivors' favor. I don't want to hold M1 for 160 seconds and then escape without really doing anything, all while the killers struggle to hook survivors."

Not really, no, you didn't, because if you did you would have proposed a solution that addresses both theoretical problems. You want both sides to have fun and a 2v6 may address the potential of gens going too fast, but will only exacerbate how little input/dynamics there will be in chases. You even admitted such chases won't even be fun for killers so there is definitely a problem that needs to be fixed, you just refuse to see it.

I am assuming you didn't really think this thru because you only considered the fun/outcome from one side's point of view. You need to consider both. As you can see, I'm not advocating for straight-up 2v8, I'm advocating for finding a proper solution that benefits both sides and give them a reason to actually play this game mode. And no, 2v6 alone ain't it.

While the killers are ganging up on one survivor, there are 7 other survivors working on 10 generators. Before they even got the second kill, the gates would be open.

Trust me, we thought this through a lot, since this is probably the most requested feature (besides buffs, nerfs, and licenses).

Why are you ignoring the fact that you can down a survivor in basically 5 seconds? Killers will get hooks so fast and it will likely offset the speed of repairing 10 generators.

But, let's assume for a second that you are right and the gen repairing speed will offset the insane downing & hooking speed. As a whole, yes, survivors will win. But this group of survivors is actually made of individuals who want to have fun. And if each chase ends instantly, without any counterplay or input from the survivor, then there is no individual fun for each survivor. Even if the team wins at the end and some survivors escape, there is no individual fun to be had. I don't play this game to hold m1 or just to see my character exiting thru the gate, I play it for the "push & pull" action that happens between the survivor and the killer, mostly in chases. You are essentially taking this away so there would be no point for survivors to play this game. It seems your thinking process only considered the killer side of the argument while there are 2 sides involved.

If you are correct and the gens will go by so fast then neither the killer of the survivors will have a reason to play this game mode. Killers will not play because of how fast gens will be repaired and survivors will not play because there is no potential for being chased and actually doing something fun, instead of m1 simulator.

And why would I trust you? Who is "we"? Are you implying you are part of some elitist group that performed an in-depth analysis we peasants are too stupid to comprehend? Why are you assuming I didn't think this thru?

  • @UncleStabby said:

Couldnt both killers just gang up on one survivor? Hit, hit, hook, unhook, tunnel, hit, hit, decidive, hit, hit, hook repeat

Exactly. This would be insanely broken in the killer's favor. Both killers have to chase the same survivor and they will instantly get the down because looping would be impossible since they can come from both sides of the loop. Repeat and win.

And then we have people wanting 2v6 because 2v8 would somehow be too easy for survivors. Goes to show how people don't really think things thru.

  • "might not seem like much"? You are asking for nearly permanent wallhacks.

  • Spirit

    Deathslinger(the insane zoning mostly)

    Hag's busted addons.

Devs kept buffing weak killers for the past few years, it's time to actually do something about the broken killer stuff.

  • This is beyond useless. There are 2 situations:

-they are aware of the issues and simply don't care, the petition won't do anything

-they are aware and working to fix them, but it's either a deep-rooted problem or they don't want to allocate enough manpower to get it fixed faster. A petition won't make the code easier to fix/optimize or convince bhvr to maybe hire more programmers instead of spending all their funding on the art team(to pump even more cosmetics).

first point literally every game survivors are overtly altruistic on a camping killer

2 point otz said noed is not earned and this pisses me off a bit

why should a killer perk be earned its the dumbest argument in a long time why let me explain

its another way of saying camping with noed should not be allowed and why would a perk need to be earned

i dont see him saying survivor perks should be earned

i could go on but its sad to see these streamers demonize noed users who camp ive faced many noed campers if im npt on the hook geuss what im soing im leaving

also note before people start spazzin dumb ######### i dont hate otz and think he is a great entertainer

So why most of the survivor perk need to be earned if a killer having to earn a perk is such a stupid idea? Double standards much?

  • No, because then it would be obvious how few reports they actually deal with.

Yes, its all the sweaty goblins coming to say that Pinhead is OP even though he's only been out for a day.

But the sweaty goblins that started demanding buffs after less than one hour since the ptb started are fine, right? Not biased at all. The amount of hypocrisy is something else.

  • From someone who uses dead hard even tho it doesn't work at least half the time:

I run it with the hopes that it will actually work this time. I run it because I don't have anything else to run. 50% success rate with Dead Hard is still better than running Boil Over which does nothing 100% of the time(or 90% of survivor perks for that matter).

Play survivor, equip DH, play until you reach rank 1(to get a good amount of matches). Count how many times it doesn't work. I believe this will be self-explanatory and you won't be wondering about it anymore.

(no, playing one game doesn't count)

Also, not everyone tryhards every single game. DH is a fun, rewarding, and interesting perk. So as I said, we run it hoping that it may work this time and add a little fun to the, otherwise, boring gameplay loop.

playing well or even "godlike" will not guarantee you a win as a killer. if those survivors are smart and play well theres not much you can do alot of the times.

That's just BS. It may be very slightly true against 4 man swf seal 6 squads, but these are less than 1% of the entire player base. Are we seriously going to ignore the 99.99% of games and just generalize based on one very specific edge case?

Also, playing well as either side shouldn't guarantee a win. The skill of the other side matters too and just because you are "good" it doesn't mean you should win every single time by default. If you face an opponent of similar skill then it should be 50/50 not 100/0 in favor of your preferred side(killer in this case).

The way I read it, they wouldn't be getting constant 10-seconds-of-no-scratch-marks. That would only happen the first 3 times after pressing the Activate Ability button (maybe while walking, so as not to interfere with other Activateable perks). Any time the survivor's aura is read, regardless of token count, the perk icon would light up. Otherwise, it defaults to being unlit.

This would give the perk value even if the tokens have run out, as you could still tell if the killer had BBQ, Nurses Calling, etc.

That's pretty much it, you read it correctly. Regardless of the token count or if you activated the perk by pressing the Activate Ability button, the icon would light up when your aura is revealed to the killer. No other effects, just the icon lights up.

Once you activate the perk, it works as it works currently: blocks the next 3 aura readings and gives you 10 seconds of no scratch marks for each of these 3 aura readings.

  • @1miko said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/271590/distorsion-buff-suggestion-reasons

Given that you don't leave any scratchmarks for 10 seconds each activation it would be just a shorter but better perk that steps over what Lucky Break or Poised does, so if you take out the not leaving scratch marks which could be exploited to leave a situation where you're caught sneaking in a really bad position without any punishment or given circumstance which the perk rewards (e.g. Poised), you could actually add even more tokens to it and it would actually be a super niche perk that does something unique and again, doesn't step over what other perks already do.

That's a fair point, but Lucky Break would still be the superior perk as it also hides the trail of blood and it kicks in right after you are injured. Distorsion usually triggers when you have some distance from the killer(like a BBQ aura reading across the map) so hiding scratch marks wouldn't be as impactful. But regardless, I agree this part should be removed so the perk does something unique.

They "nerfed" Undying because of the games where Ruin respawned 4 times. It would be dumb to go back to that. Old Undying was broken. Your suggestion is actually more broken because of a potential game where you need to cleanse Devour Hope 4 times.

Also calling the change to Undying a "nerf" is wrong. It got a really good quality of life change.

    For perks like:

    • Devour Hope
    • Third Seal

This was a massive buff. The fact it now keeps it's stacks is amazing for these perks. Having the hex totem only have 2 lives is nice buff, that doesn't make them too strong.

Happy for them to fix some totem spawns but nobody should ever believe the game would be better bringing back old Undying.

Exactly. And also the "wahaaa the totem spawns are so bad" is BS. Sure, there are still a few very bad spawns, but especially on the new maps the totems are pretty well placed.

It used to be like that. But currently a survivor can die/dc/go afk with 3 gens up and the others still can escape.

When? When we had real infinites, double pallets, 30 pallets per map, pallet vacuum, windows that could be vaulted from both sides and any angles, 4 insta decisive strikes, instablind flashlights, bnps that instantly repaired an entire generator, generators that took 50 seconds to repair, permanent hook sabotage, no gen kicking, no gen control perks, sprint burst with a 20 seconds cooldown which always recovered, self care as fast as a regular heal, insta heal medkits, jungle gyms and structures without holes into them, no speed penalty when multiple people repaired the same generator(and this list is just off the top of my head)? Do you seriously want anyone to believe the game was somehow harder for survivors back then? If so, you must be trolling.

The game simply did not get any easier for survivors. It's either just as easy as it was before or harder, it can't be easier with all the broken stuff removed.

Did you really just say that survivors are entitled to be mad and rude when the killers don't want flashlights to ruin their game? And then wondered why I made a topic about funny survivor entitlement. Oh the irony.

I said everyone is allowed to be salty about anything they want to be salty about. It's a free world. I also said you are free to run whatever perks you want to run, or did you not see that part?

  • So? People are allowed to be salty about whatever they want to be salty. Did you open this topic to get pats on the back or something?

You are allowed to play in any way you want to play and people are allowed to be mad about it. Ignore the chat, play how you want to play, use whatever perks you want to use.

  • @SilentPill said:

Camping and tunneling are only overpowered if the survivors have gen phobia. Which to be fair, most do.

There is very little reason to play solo survivor as a veteran player. You might as well take your game knowledge and win 95% of your games as killer; instead of dealing with red rank self care clauds. Pretty much all the good survivors just play in SWFs and it’s for a reason.

But at the end of the day, all those problems are the survivors being bad. Not the game being imbalanced. 3 gens done in 2 minutes. That’s DBD if the survivors are good.

How are you supposed to do gens if you are hooked and camped to death? Oh, you meant the other survivors should do the gens, right? But what about the poor guy that's being camped and enjoying a staring contest with the killer? How does doing gens help him?

    It doesn't.

  • Survivors shouldn't be allowed to do anything.

  • @Milo said:

That's a nice idea with the cooldown, however the stacks would have to stay at 3 imo. Getting 1 unhook and 1 protection hit isn't that... demanding you could say.

Only with Lucky Break you realized and partially reverted the nerf.

Also, what nerf? Did I miss something 🤔

Yes, it should be 3 or even 4 stacks. I never meant to suggest it should be 2, what I meant is you could get 2 out of 3 stacks in quick succession by just unhooking and tanking a hit(hence the suggested cooldown between gaining stacks).

    @Almo @Peanits @McLean @DeathByGiggles any input?

  • Yes, every killer must be completely busted. Only then killer mains will be happy and claim everything is balanced. There's no other way.

  • I guess it's such a big tragedy you have to play on the one map in the entire game with some decent pallets. It shouldn't matter because literally any other map has extremely short, stupidly unsafe pallets.

  • The current system is fair, the old one always favored the killer and survivors had to deal with BS hits all the time. Now, it doesn't favor anyone and killer mains, the same people who apparently care so much about balance and fairness, are crying rivers to have their unfair advantage restored.

  • Get tapping is fine.

Keys aren't nearly as much of an issue as you make it out to be.

    Done, addressed.

  • When killers say "x survivor perk is not fair" what they actually mean is "x survivor perk is not complete garbage and actually has a small impact on the gameplay which requires me to very slightly adjust my playstyle which I refuse to do and instead demand it to be nerfed because it worked wonders in the past".

  • Survivors get hit thru pallets for 5 years, no one bats an eye.

    Pallets finally get fixed

Killers cry rivers because for a week they couldn't get BS hits. If survivors could deal with the current state of pallets for 5 years I'm sure you can deal with it for a little while. Or you know, stop playing with potato internet and expect it to carry you and get you kills.

  • Survivors are not allowed to have perks that are actually useful. Got it, only killers have this right.

  • Oh just stop already. The "nerf" was reverted so hard it basically does nothing. You overheat only if you want to.

  • Just stop crying already. The perk is weak enough as it is. Just because it's somewhat not completely trash against Wraith it doesn't mean it should be nerfed.

Actually that used to be the case, you could look up during the fatigue, but was nerfed to make it forced to look down for balance reasons

In fact now that i think about it, im sorta sure it was a bug that you could look up in the first place.

It was a bug, but it remained in the game for a long time because somehow it wasn't a priority. It was not nerfed "for balance reasons". The nurse was never intended to be able to look up during fatigue. From day 1 BHVR pitched the fatigue as the counter to Nurse: lose the Nurse while she is staring at the ground and can not see you properly.

And the killer has to kill, or the Entity will become upset.

Going beyond the RP for a bit, the fact is, you were both wasting each other's time, as well as your own. I'm sure the killer was also wondering why you weren't doing anything.

Except the entity is not real and its satisfaction doesn't matter. However, contrary to what you killers believe survivors are actually humans who do have feelings. If he was doing whatever he was doing In order to help his teammates remain in the game and keep playing and enjoying the game then it's at least somewhat justified. Ruining other people's experience to make the entity "happy" isn't a justification.

  • They need to remove the addons that reduce her cooldown after blinking because when combined they allow the Nurse to play just like before the nerf and completely avoid the cooldown.

After that, she is completely fine. Also, since I know these forums, I'll mention it right now, to save some time. Yes, I play Nurse, in fact I main her.

  • Killers before Franklin's change: "nah keys op I don't want to use franklins in my build, it's not a counter anyway wahaaa wahha".

Killers after change: "######### bhvr you just took away the only counter to keys that I never used and always pretended wasn't a counter I'm so angry".

They heavily buffed the killer perks but left all the survivor perks untouched. Guess I should of expected that already.

No matter the repercussions of the Freddy rework, patch 1.9.2 was the worst decision BHVR ever made

The Nurse part was perfectly fine. The flashlight/pallet stun was the busted tho.

  • Stop with the "sky is falling" posts. You guys make one for at least one survivor perk every single chapter and every single time you are wrong. Time to learn from the past mistakes and stop over reacting to every single thing.

How would that work? You'll be able to break pallets in ~1.25 seconds, giving the survivor no distance and the killer would get a potentially free m1 hit.

Don't you people have anything better to do? I play survivor all the time and I never have this much of an issue with Spirit. This is actually ridiculous now, constant bitching and moaning about this one killer who isn't even that big of a deal. The moment she is nerfed into the ground you people will instantly start crying and moaning about slinger, or nurse or something else. This has never been about balance for you people, it's only ever been about "this killer kicks my ass and I want it nerfed."

So when killers whine about the same freaking thing for months and years is fine, but survivors aren't allowed to?

    "wahaaaaa keys are so op"

    "wahaaaaa DS is so op"

"wahaaaaa whatever perk I don't like is so op"

"wahaaaaa this map is so op"

Moreover, killers constantly link otz's videos as proof of why something should be nerfed. Survivors do the same thing once to justify Spirit needing a nerf and it's the end of the world. Hypocrisy much?

Also, no one believe you are actually a survivor main. At least not at high ranks where 1 out of 3 games is Spirit. You are probably a killer main afraid you'll lose your busted killer.

No. There's literally no perk that is too powerful or broken on any killer.

Are you a killer main by any chance?

  • Hag and Nurse are already strong enough. Lighburn on Nurse does nothing so it doesn't really matter. I can't remember the last time a survivor actually canceled my blink with a flashlight. You can disarm Trapper's traps, it's only fair for survivors to have a mechanic to remove a Hag trap.

Wraith already got buffed. Wait and see how he performs.

  • Lightborn completely counters flashlights, firecrackers and the new perk. Killers still don't use it and proceed to complain about said things.

It will be the same exact thing with counterforce. No one will run it but we'll still have complains about hex perks. Stop panicking every single time a perk doesn't sound completely useless. The sky is not falling.

I have three possible changes to Blight:

-When Blight slams against an object he emits a faint cloud of yellow gas within 3 meters that hinders survivors for 2 seconds. So basically a very tame version of one of the effects of Compound 33. I think this would make him insane around loops, and would prevent survivors from just getting up in his face to try and dodge him...in my eyes that's basically abusing the fact that the FoV is terrible.

-Blight gains an additional 1m/s speed up per rush. This is a tame version of the Blighted Rat/Crow addon. Those addons should be nerfed to compensate, BUT it makes it so that there is a risk/reward system for using more tokens.

-Blight's power cooldown when ending a rush or after a hit now starts recharging during the injection animation instead of after the animation. This is basically normalizing it with the pallet break animation which does have the ability recharge during the injection. Relatively minor but would allow Blight to use his power more often.

Do any of those to Blight and you don't really make him easier to play necessarily, but you do make him way stronger, which he doesn't really need realistically, to be fair.

Edit: I wrote "fair cloud" instead of "faint cloud"

    They fixed his fov.
