LOL i run the same build sometime, when i get hit with a few noeds that night

And not gonna lie: it feels really great when I cleanse away some pesky Ruin or Plaything or Devour Hope, that's instant gratification. When you stop a NOED, you only see it in the after game screen, but it's a good feeling when you cleansed 4-5 of that totems yourself.

  • @Tr1nity said:

    Removes survivor agency.

Quite the contrary: being hit by NOED is a direct result of player agency.

Since I started not exclusively playing Killer, but also doing survivors, I experimented with different builds and noticed that no one is doing bones in solo q, so I made Detective Tapp my "Detectives Hunch", "Counter Force", "Inner Healing" wunderkind. I single-handedly stopped about a dozen NOEDs from blooming, with the caveat that my gen time was limited.

But that's the thing: if everyone is gen rushing and finishing in 4-5min,then no one did bones. That's your agency. So having experimented with bones myself I have even less sympathy for NOED cries. Quite on the contrary, being a killer main myself it hurt my heart whenever I cleansed some poor souls Hex totems away. But that's just the other side of the game.

  • Yeah, a DC is a miserable thing. I recently played a lot with Lethal Pursuer, and the amount of DCs I got after a quick down within the first minute of the game is insane. I mean, it's a strong start for me, but I didn't intend to facecamp anyone.

And afterwards you are in this awkward position: do you keep playing at least semi competent? Then the survivors have no chance most of the time, or do you throw? Or do you meme and just chase em like crazy without actually going for a serious attempt to kill them? Nevertheless, a normal play is nearly impossible.

  • @nixreport said:

I play both sides though these days I lean more toward killer (Legion generally) since I find it a lot less annoying but usually during the day I get instant survivor queues while killer may take 2-5mins depending on the day while after about 2pm or so killer gets instant while survivor queue times may take up to 5-10mins around 8-9pm.

Things I can safely say is the killer changes lately have been fine for the most part (still waiting on that Legion rework T-T) and the killers I get lately have played constantly slugging, tunneling, camping, and while yes I agree its a strategy it simply isnt fun to play against. Waiting sometimes as much as 10mins for a match to get tunneled and camped out in 30s no thanks i will just play killer where I can at least play the game rather than doing nothing even if I only get 1-2 kills.

Regardless people blaming things like boons I think the fact that the single largest player base drop was in August which was more than double any month since boons came out in October, I think it really outlines that boons arent the big issue. The game is just growing stale, people are finally moving on whether it be to frustration or boredom or life in general and I dont think its specific to either side. I have not seen any drastic change in my queue times on either side since crossplay was added and even then it wasnt much difference since I moved from PS4 to PC almost 3 years ago. Are killers quitting? Yes. But survivors are quitting just as fast.

TLDR; Queue times are the same as they have been for years and both sides are quitting probably at the same rate and the player base is bleeding people in massive quantities regardless of role

Quite the good post and while I don't agree with everything, I would back the majority.

Regarding the tunneling problem: until a month ago (I only started playing in November) I mostly played very nice and by the survivors play book, ie leaving the hooks, roaming around, deliberately going after the unhooker instead of the unhooked survivor etc and had fun, while still winning a considerable portion of my games.

But of late things have changed and I get way, way, way more sweaty games then ever before. I compare it like playing the dbd championship, but its not the finals, but every game after game after game.

I noticed that if I play like before that I would lose miserable and be laughed out of the gate and send away with a flashlight storm. The only way how I could wrest back the control of the game was by tunneling one player out asap, turning a crushing 4v1 into a manageable 3v1.

I hate this myself, but its the state of my game right now. Every now and then I get a game, though, were things are pretty much like they were back then. If things go well I notice this right away, if not I'll stomo this group... and you might have guessed it, in the after game chat it shows that half of them got only 1-3 perk slots unlocked with all kind of yellow and green ones jumbled together: I valiantly crushed a baby group :V

I know that lot of people worked very hard for this SBMM system, but its so very draining to me, sweating each and every game and in my feeding frenzy stomping poor little baby survivors, who should actually be protected by this system.

So probably no one of the higher ups would want to swallow the bitter pill and scrap SBMM and MMR, but it would appease so many peeps who are really losing interest of faith in the game.

  • Plage: she is a tall woman, but spindly and wracked by a terrible desease. Sure, I would probably die a week later, but that spindly arms of her? That gonna snap if she tries her projectile vomiting shenanigans.

The Hag though I wouldn't want to go near. Her emaciated form is empowered by The Entity from head to toe and I wouldn't trust myself beating her at arm wrestling with both my hands vs her weak hand.

Yea, I prefer the stealth approach best as well. It's super satisfying when I'm in a chase, get behind a few LOS blockers and lose the killer. That being said, with how maps are these days, it's not super difficult to waste the killers time. Just keep an eye out for them or run Spine Chill and the second you see them coming, head towards a pallet. Try to stun them or pre-drop it when they get close and run to the next one. I can usually buy two gens worth of time at the start of the match when I do this.

Yeah ... there are just so frigging many pallets these days. Nearly every map seems to be situated right next to a pallet factory. I don`t mind the pallets as a gameplay element per so, but there are just so many of them, its rather tiresome. You cant loop anyone for 15s without them smacking a pallet in your face at the next corner, while running over to the next loop.

  • You know you got yourself some exquisite bullies when you don't show up at the gate and the other survivors just leave, while they just stand there and wait till literally the last seconds, hoping beyond hope that you might come running up to them, so that they can t-bag and clickety click at you one last time.

Well, my second monitor with some Netflix or Youtube is always ready.

But box duty is scary and I prefer to be near my bush brethren.

In all seriousness, even though I'm bad at looping, I go for it every chance I can, but more often than not, I'm being chased or rescuing someone while my teammates wont get off the damn gen to solve it.

I'm not asking him to be balanced around those situations, I just want his buff to be delayed a little, that's all. I'm being selfish, I know.

I am super terrible at looping myself and prefere the super bold stealth approach, having seen myself how effective this sometimes can be, ie just crouching behind the killer or just behind a corner and confuse the poor killer how you could vanish in thin air.

That being said, when I loop I 100% mess up in a short amount of time, but I got the feeling that I am getting better an better at it. Having smacked countless survivors and seeing all their tricks helps a lot, its still quite hard to translate that into my own gameplay, while panicking with a 350lbs muscle monster on my heels, hellbend on crushing all my hope.

Oh yeah, that's a thing. I feel bad for Trapper these days especially with the new map

Yeah, the new map is especially harsh on Trapper, I experienced that myself just the other day. I noticed that I got a few party streamers lying around in Trappers inventory and decided to tackle a few of his Tome challenges that I got unresolved. Well, bless my luck, for I got two Eiry maps back to back and I could to practically nothing there. You can try to trap pallets during a chase, as to render it unusable to the survivor, but thats about the best you can do. No grass or rubble anywhere to hide your traps in general, so you can just trap the main building and hope that the basement spawns there. Otherwise just trap the Killer Shack with all you got and hope that your friendly survivors suicide in your neat little kill box.

  • You could say that the difference is like ... night and day. Badabum

Okay, okay, jokes aside, the thing is that many people love to play in the evening, and they love to play with their friends, so you will encounter many more SWF groups in the evening, while during the day you will encounter more solo q peeps who just happen to have a free day or some hours to kill or whatever.

Not all SWF groups are killer eating bully-sweat-squads, mind you, but most SWF groups who play regularly at least know what they are doing and are already better coordinated then your random solo-q players by a mile.

During the day is also a better time to play survivor and try to finish your survivor tome challenges, even if you are a killer main. The reason is actually related to the above: during the evening many more play survivor because they play with their friends. Those players who got some free time earlier in the day might play some killer to get their challenges done, so survivor cues during the day are much shorter then in the evening, with killer cues in the evening sometimes being as short as 10s.

  • I would love for his chains to auto aim, once you set up a portal. You would lose out on your scouting tool, but you could keep up the chase, instead of stopping dead in your tracks to try for a skill shot that will make you just barely gain distance in most situations, while a failed skill shot punishes you so hard, even Pinhead winces.

The mechanic is already in the game: during a chain hunt multiple portals start appearing and auto aiming at the survivors, who can even evade them, but this would be such a QoL buff for his power and chase. But I know that this is a rather unpopular opinion.

  • You could also try to get the violet versions of all those perks, this alone would make this build much better 🙃

  • I personally dispise bodyblocking from a immersion and lore standpoint. Yeah, it is a daring stunt and can yield spectacular results, while putting the survivor doing it in harms way, but most killers are entity-empowered hunks of meat and muscles who could rip someones arm off, yet a flimsy Nea stops them dead in their tracks.

Would it hurt that much if survivors could be shoved out of the way with, say, 25% speed? You could still confuse a killer and eak out some precious seconds to facilitate a sabotage action, but right now its pretty rediculous who a swarm of bodyblocking survivors can completely shut down a killer and prevent nearly any hooking event, if they are just bullies enough.

He needs smarter zombies for map pressure. I think he should punish for tentacle miss because tentacle is so strong already. And this comes from Nemesis main. I just wanna smarter and stronger zombies, if they fix them Nemesis will be one of the best balanced killers.

Try out both Zombie view cone and attention range add-ons and be underwhelmed.

Would it be a stretch to almost make a comparison to Saboing Trapper Traps? Because that's how I almost feel it's like

We already got that: you can DH through Trappers bear traps and t-bag him from the other side, while he must walk through or around.

I recently made a post on what further changes could be done with Spirit and suggested that Spirit should always hear 50% grunts of pain while she's in her power, to lower the gap between Iron Will and non-Iron Will.

Yeah, that sounds not bad, actually. Counterplay to a strong killer is all fun and games, and if an off meta perk somehow counters you in a big way, that's kinda ok and you can laugh it off, but a true and legit meta perk, one that you can reasonably expect two of in each random group and up to four in legit SWF pre-mades, shouldn't invalidate anyone killers power like that. This is just really bad game design.

    Bingo.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/305879/dried-cherry-blossom-double-standards

    Shrug.

    Get used to it.

People will complain if you don't let them heal.

People will complain if you run meta perks or play a meta killer.

People will complain if you don't 'play normally' ie. don't run meta perks or play a meta killer.

There is an expectation at the back of every survivor player's head that they will escape, and that anything that happens to make this more difficult is the killer being cheap/cheesy/abusive in some way.

    It's Dunning-Kreuger syndrome personified.

People will complain when you play Demogorgon, as its unfair to play a killer who isn't even in the base game anymore.

People will complain when you don't play Demogorgon, because they always enjoyed versing him and are sad that he is that rare, now.

You can never win, neither appease everyone, so don't bother and just play your way.

  • @GannTM said:

I just want to express my gratitude on you playing Spirit. We need more people willing to do that. But yeah, double standards is a core detail in the term "DBD community."

You know what? Starting tomorrow I will play Spirit-chan more and git gud with her, even though I suck at her game, right now!

I feel that IW shouldn't be THAT effective against her and maybe that IW and Stridor should cancel each other out, so that she can always at least play at her base kit, but that's just wishful thinking, a wild pipedream of mine, so I'll have to learn make do with what I got!

  • @Laluzi said:

I'd always be interested in seeing the data for the ratios, but I'm also expecting the same thing you are - the claims of "killers are quitting" are almost certainly overblown every time they crop up. The complaints are often legitimate, but people don't stop playing the game, they just get angrier while doing it.

I do believe the queue times are a fairly accurate reflection of how many people are playing each side without too much interference from SBMM, but queue times have been stupidly long for survivors at night ever since I started playing, and that's been nearly a year now. I've only seen it change in a meaningful way when a new chapter is released, or if there's an event that noticeably favors playing killer.

I think this is a pretty good post, all on all.

Yeah, probably a lot of the killer complaints, taken in general, are somewhat valid, as I made similar experiences, even though I am quite new to the game and thus don't know it differently. And yes, most killer mains probably won't leave, but getting angrier and angrier. It's ao odd that you as a killer main get somewhat punished for playing well.

I know, I know, you could say "huh, you then only love stomping baby survivor groups?" and that's not what you should strive for, BUT a good killer is rewarded with much sweatier games, a lot! A really tough, grit your teeth game every once in a while? That's cool and even fun. But if every game feels like you are fighting for the dbd world championship, every game, every day, then it will eat at your mental fortitude.

Add to this the constant stress of playing killer, getting your hard worked for second hit in a though loop validated and eaten by a dead hard and your only reward a pallet to the face, while the survivor zooms of to his CoH heal zone, and you get a cocktail that's pretty tailor-made to burn killer mains out, pretty fast.

Btw, someone gave a pretty good explanation for the cue times: during the day the peeps who split up their time between survivor and killer will often play a bit of killer, leading to a bit longer killer cues and faster solo q survivors. In the evening a lot of players will wanna play with their friends, so they do a SWF and this leads to the super long survivor cues, while killers in the evening are nearly instant (around 15-25s most often) .

EDIT: I also forgot to add this: I was for the most part a pretty cool killer, always left the hook alone, roamed the map, no tunneling etc unless the survivors were bringing 2BNP and gen rushing like mad, but ever since I hit the higher-ish (supposedly) MMR, this won't cut it and in the vast majority of my games I will get clickety clicked and laughed out of the game if I don't tunnel one player out asap. I hate it, but 3v1 is manageable, while 4v1 until the 9th hook nearly always spells desaster. So here we have a big conundrum: tunneling is frowned upon, its eating away a lot of the fun that survivors have, and apparently BHVR wanna do something about it, BUT at the same time its the best general tactic for the killer to not lose control of the game and get a somewhat stable footing. I don't know how I, personally, would feel if tunneling was forcefully taken away from me. Another case might be something like a basekit Devour Hope effect, where you get some kind if buff when you roam away from the hook. But just invalidating this tactic alone won't cut it and will just spill more bad blood.

@Akumakaji had a great idea for bloodweb and prestiging.

If you prestige like at P2 all perks will already come at rank 2, likewise at rank 3 at P3.

    I really like this idea.

    Thanks for mentioning me :>

Truth be told, its an idea that has been thrown around quite some time and I just repeated it. But it's actually quite an elegant solution to make the grind and P3ing all the characters somewhat worth it.

When you P3 some character the grind is immense and one of the runs you might end up with perks that won't even allow you any real build. When I P3ed my Pyramid Head I only got BBQ and my beloved Scourge Hook: Pain res. when I was 6 bloodwebs over lvl 50. Now I freshly P3ed my cute Demogorgon and at lvl 40 I still got nothing resembling a real build. Its really frustrating and makes me think twice about P3ing the characters for which I already got an alternate costume, as the P3 alone offers zero benefit beyond some super vague "you'll get better bloodwebs".

The ultimate pig nerf is the only thing that stands between us and Bubbas chainsaw stopping once it tastes blood for the first time after revving.

  • Or the actual rather cute "omg your bad. Plz uninstall the game! N00b." But the legit threats to life and limb I got in this game here are really something else.

My worst insult probably was "I wish your mom dies and the day of her funeral become a national holiday." Wow. Thats really something... But one trial, were I tunneled, one survivor asked for my shovel so that they could bury my children with it. I mean, thats a level of personal attacks that we don't need in this game. Call me an idiot, incompetent, a loser, whatever, but leave this cruel sheit out of it.

he's not that anti-loop at all, his chain barely give him time at all to catch up the survivor, since you stop moving when using the chain you never gain distance, you simply get the distance you lost while stopping back if you hit them, if you miss you simply lost lots of distance.

That is my biggest gripe with him and his power. I think that he actually could be really good if the chains autoaim when you set the portal, but with you having to do so manually, ACTUALLY stopping and it being a skill shot that has a good propability to miss (unless you let the survivor run through the portal in a chase) they are super underwhelming. I have had games were I pretty much landed all my skill shots and I barely got anything out of it, maybe half a second at best, if at all.

And if you miss, the survivor will be off and away, never to be seen again. The chains are somewhat nice on multi story maps for scouting and interrupting/scaring survivors on otherwise unreachable gens or boxes, but their suposedly main purpose, ie hitting a survivor on the move and stopping them in their tracks, is the one area where they fall flat.

So please, just make the portal auto aim a chain at the nearest survivor, just like they do during chain hunts. The mechanic is already there in the game, just remove the skill shot. Or make it somehow optional: hold right so summon a portal, then left click to do an autoaim attack or alternate power button for scouting and manual skill shots. There! Solved.

  • I remember that I farmed a few times during the last 2x blood hunt and had a few really funny instances during that time, mainly with a big yellow bottle rave with the Clown as the DJ.

I sometimes approach survivors and show them that I am no harm when I have do to a rather unfun tome challenge, like grabbing two survivors of gens or damaging 5 different gens in one game. Yikes.

These kind of challenges I will happily employ the help of some friendly survivors. Like the one I am tackling now: sacrificing four survivors in the basement in one game. I am sure I will find some helpful survivors for that one :D

  • I reported about 5 of these in the last couple of days. Seems like the blood hunt event gets people to missbehave even more. I don't know if any of these people got temporarily suspended, but I would hope so, as some of the stuff was pretty despicable. This got nothing to do with manning up or having a thin skin. You shouldn't wish someone or someones loved ones death or horrible dooms, just because someone bested you in a game.

  • When summoning his chains in the idle menu animation he might actually be angry, either because there is someone opposing him, or he isnt in a chase, whatever.

But when he moris you, he is in total control, total serene and about to "show you such sights". He ain't angry, for this is the time when he is at peace with himself and the universe.

  • Indeed, OP, I feel your pain. I was doing some old tome challenges and tried my hand at the trapper ones. Even noticed that I had a couple party streamers lying so I equiped them.

Well, bless my luck, but I got the Eiry map two frigging times in a row, walking out of it with zero kills and about 9k. Its just THAT bad against competent survivors.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2755993#Comment_2755993

You can argue it, but the DH iframes and hit validation can be frustrating. The DH for distance is the most frustrating thing about the perk imo.

IMO DH for distance is the only funktion DH should have. All other exhaustion perks in essence give you distance when you satisfy their condition, be it vaulting a window, smacking the killer with a pallet, dropping some distance or even being conservative with your running, they all give you 150% speed for a couple of seconds. And if DHs only power was gaining distance on command, as long as you are wounded, well, than I would be fine with that.

But DH is the ONLY perk in the entire game that gives you i-frames, and they are very, very frustrating. When someone uses their perk, gains some distance and if out of your clutches, yeah, that can be annoying, but whatever, thats just their build. And when someone is using DH to make a run for a window thats somewhat ok for me. But its the countless times where the i-frames just save someones butt who just shouldn't get away from you. Who made some pretty bad mistake, and then i-frames through your hit/eats your power and leaves you with nothing for your hard work.

DH also allows you stuff like dashing through a killer who body blocks a door or through Trappers beartraps, it invalidates so many core elements of the game and is so extremely versatily: distance on command, i-frames on command, dash through traps on command, dash through the killer on command. Most of these instances could be a seperate perk and would still be considerd viable, but that they are all rolled into ONE perk and apparently talking about this as a problem and just weak killer talking "just git gud bro" just baffles my mind.

The talk of "they nerfed old Undying/Ruin because it was overused by 80%" is of course dumb. There should be no revenge at your mind when nerfing something or some nerfing "we lose one thing, I lose one thing". Things need to be nerfed when they step vastly out of line, not because you can't think of something else to nerf or whatever, but this perk, it is truly overused.

Usually when one option is vastly picked more often instead of others in its class and practically becomes a no-brainer/autopick, unless your build has something other in mind, then this usually is a good indication that said option is too strong. Borrowed Time has a similar high pickrate to DH, maybe a bit less, but here its born out of nessecity. Being tunneled out of the game without any chance of escape plain sucks, so it makes sense that a lot of survivors want some kind of protection against that, and while some people argue against certain (miss)usages of BT (bodyblocking without fear of retaliation instead of just getting away), I guess pretty much no one is arguing against its base idea. But dayuuum, playing your chase perfectly and then having your hard work taken away from you, just at the press of a button, and NOT even messing up, thats just disheartening. DH might be "fair", as in "used as intended" in years with the hit validation, but as its buggy state was somewhat balanced, it now shows how utterly unbalanced its core principle is, no that it works everytime.

I guess we should nerf it

Why do you guys always want to nerf everything that is slightly different or out of the norm? If this continues in the end every killer would just be M1 with some slight flavor thrown in on the side. Killers SHOULD be different and sometimes surprise you.

  • Awww. But its kinda cute. I also once got accused of wallhacking when I hit sniper hits with Pyramid Head. The truth it, I kinda did, but the sanctioned one ,ie "Whombo Combo Nurses Calling + M&A".

I had the strangest start with Demogorgon, BTW. I bought dbd together with the Stranger Things DLC in November and my first forays into the game as killer where therefore with good boi Demogorgon. And of course I failed miserably. Everything felt off and I had no idea how the portals worked. I would always look down at a portal and got nothing to work and gave up in frustration.

When I finally got a foothold and a good understanding of the game I grinded hard and brought every killer I got my hands on to lvl 40+ in order to get their teachables unlooked. This of course left poor Demodog in the dust, as his teachables were long in the public pool by now. This month I finally came around and tried him out properly for the first time and BOI OH BOI do I love me that Demogorgon gameplay! Its sad that I will never be able to buy some fun chain outfits for him or anything, but I am now on the verge of P3ing him, just 3 more bloodweb levels to grind, in order to show my luv to the cute pupper.

In the last two weeks I played a lot of him and yeah, you will see people constantly trying to close your portals, while you are closing by from another angle, giving you cheap and easy hits and downs. Some people have the timing perfected to hit Demo out of a shred with a pallet, but most survivors will stare rather dumbfounded at how fast you blitz through them, only realizing what fate will befall them when they see Barbs broken glasses in the debris.

So this was a rather long and somewhat pointless, but hopefully amusing, storytime about how Demo became my second most played killer.

  • I always played very fair and to the survivors playbook for the longest time. But of late I get nowhere with that attitude and, quite to the contrary, get "EZgg"ed, "Lulz worst killer ever" and laughed at a lot.

So just my at last game 5min ago on Ormond, where I barely saw a survivor anywhere and got one measly hook by 2 gens left, I shifted gears hard and camped the Claudette that I just hooked. After 1min a Nea came by and I grabbed her off the hook and then a realization struck me and I just threw her down at my feet. She crawled away, another Gen popped, and then a Kate showed up, trying to heal the Nea. I struck her down as she unhooked the Claudette and downed Claudette, again.

The exit gates opened, I cornered the Feng on her way to save her friends and was left with a 4K for playing at my most toxic. I hooked everyone and was rewarded with one DC and an extra salty after game chat. Not gonna lie, that felt awesome. Giving it back to them. And at least two survivors could have easily escaped.

But still, the part of me that is still human, that still remembers my old self and that wasn't claimed by The Entity muses: is this really the state of the game? Do we just have the duality of this choice: be toxic or get stomped? And should I even care and not embrace what I really are: the antithesis of humanities cause. The Destroyer of Hope and The Vanquisher of Life.

there is no counter to slippery meat either

Not true. There is a very obscure and rare perk called "Monstrous Shrine". It might catch survivors off-guard if you manage to secure it and might even counter the CoH shenanigans. Might be a candiate for the new meta. What do you guys think?

The parts I found stressful was making sure I was hooking as even as possible. I lose track easily. As for the last two survivors, I didn’t want the risk of the last one finding hatch so I would often try to hit both and leave them and hope to catch them healing each other.

It was a great feeling when it was all done.

I know your pain! On one game on Haddonfield the last Mikaela wouldn't try to save her Bill friend, so he picked himself up from the ground, while she hid. Two times! The first one was expected, the second one was that Exponential boon perk. Once both were out of the equation I slugged him and proxy camped, while keeping tap on the 3 gen. I finally got a whiff of her (she had eluded me all game), downed and hooked her, but by the time I returned to poor Bill, who had spend literally half the game slugged, I heared him crying somewhere close, but couldn't find him and he bleed out, leaving me with just a "Ruthless Killer" rating.

  • My bad. I was reading it stop and go between matches while I waited for the lobby and sometimes forget where I was ^_-

Skill checks have been introduced for more accessibility.

But the reduced wiggle time for great skill checks makes no sense. Survivors will wiggle out far more often than now. Especially in combination with Boil Out and/or hook offerings.

This could result in killers being forced to choose between gen slowdown perks or Iron Grip + Agitation in order to make it to a hook.

Or just slugging everyone. More fun for everyone.

  • Oof, I finally got this achievment done. And it truly felt aweful, totally stomping all this people, but eh, someone has to do it, right?

I can confirm myself that the ex-Demogorgon perks work for the achievment, and Fearmonger and Jolt helped me a lot. I used mostly Demogorgon. First, his double Iri-add-ons are super strong and feel quite like cheating. Second, even without the Iri-add-ons, Demopupper is still a good boi and trapping every gen with a portal helps a lot with ferreting out the last survivors, once the game turns into a 2v1 on three gens, or something like that, as you can't fall back on Tinkerer, as you might normally do.

All in all this achievment wasn't AS much a pain in the butt as I had feared, but it kept be occupied a few days. I am quite happy that I now got all my "Adept X" and related achievments done and can now fully commit to play as I like :)

Man, people are so lazy nowadays. That "wall of text" takes maybe 5min to read? Maybe less? How would you ever read a book with that attitude? Good thing that most books have an audiobook version, these days :D

So I was a killer main for years since I started playing. Then I started playing survivor, a lot of survivor. And I came to the realization that it's not really that hard. Now I understand that there is a vast difference between solo survivor, and a full swf. So I played both solo and with a full team, and then with a duo. I would play 40+ matches and each time I was actually escaping a majority of the time. Today alone I played 20, escaped 18. One death was I got stuck in between the killer and a window and it wouldn't let me vault, like at all. The second death I missed my decisive at the exit gate. It was rough, but completely my fault.

Now I will say that the playstyles to escape when playing solo vs with a team is also vastly different. More evasion and objective focused, so you kinda have to switch your mind set when playing with solos.

But my point is, when I was playing and I died, it always felt like it was something I did. Like missing a skill check, or not cleansing totems because they might have NOED, or sprint bursting into a wall, or not running a loop properly. They were all my mistakes. Sometimes I trusted in solo teammates when I know I shouldn't have, and made riskier plays because of it. But they were things I could fix. Yes there were some things that were difficult to deal with, strong killers with the best perks and add-ons, camping and slugging killers. But none of it felt like it was something that was impossible to overcome

Now back to the flip side, with killer. I still win most of my matches as killer, playing without camping or tunneling, with not the most meta perks. The ones I lose are usually like, I spent too long on a particular chase because they were my last stack of BBQ or something like that. However, there are times when I lose, but I know I didn't play badly. More so, I just got beat by RNG. Take for instance this evening. I had 5 back to back random Haddonfield matches. 4 of those matches went fine, a bit sweaty on the survivor side, but it was fine. However, the last match I decided to take off pop and put on ruin which I almost never run. Load into the match, I'm complete opposite side of ruin, know they spawned on top of there so I head over. It's destroyed before I can even get close. Chase that survivor, they immediately run into the house of pain, where all but one window is open to where she can get fast vaults from any angle. I chase her for about 20 seconds before I break chase because I don't want to lose too much time on one chase in an infinite loop of windows. As soon as I break chase 3 gens pop. So I'm pretty much in a losing match up where there's not much I can do. No 3 gen, and they all run to an infinite loop anytime I hit them. If I commit to downing one person, which I did because it was the best of the worst options, and then the other gens pop. The other option was pressuring the spread out gens, which would lead to a single hit, them running to the infinite and healing, and then repeating that for much longer just to get the same results.

So what did I do wrong there? Nothing. I was in a losing situation from the get go and it wasn't anything I did. They didn't outplay me, they weren't particular good survivors. But I got hit with extremely bad RNG. The only thing I could think that might change the outcome was not heading towards my totem. But once again, I had no idea that loop would spawn in that manner so, RNG.

And that's the issue with playing killer. That's why it feels so bad to play killer. Never once have I died as a survivor and thought, oh it was because of the totem spawns, or hook spawns, or how the tiles and loops or generators spawned. I've never died because of bad RNG. However killers can be completely hindered by bad RNG. And since you have no control over it, it's not just something that you can improve upon or fix within your own gameplay. Yes, all killers make mistakes in matches, you're never gonna play perfectly. But only with killer is RNG ever really a factor to the point where it can lose you a game before you can play it.

And that's why some, not all, but some killers get so upset. Because you could be robbed of things in a match through no fault of your own.

As survivor I never really felt like I was screwed out of an escape due to RNG. And I never really felt like I was not in control. Playing as survivor I felt like a majority of the time we controlled the entire pacing of the match, and the killer was having to play on their back foot. Like their only option was to snowball and if we stopped their ability to do that even once we pretty much won the match.

I can't say I've felt the reverse side of that when playing killer, but let me know if y'all have.

You might be up to something, there. The killer role, by its very nature, is much more reactive then the survivors one. Of course, you can sometimes take action and take the pain to the survivors, but most of the time you will be reacting to them: hunting down Tinkerer cues, or crows, or fast vault notions or or or.

And RNG has a much more important influence on you as the killer then on the survivor. Some of the problems are just busted propabilities or oversights in the code. Like when in Midwich Elementary hooks wont spawn, because they would be technically to close to each other, while factually, be means of travel time and direct access, they are on the other side of the map of each other.

And the problems with the totems have been a constant issue since literally forever. There are clips of survivors spawning with a lit Hex totem right in front of them, and stuff like that just shouldn't be possible.

right, because video games are just like real life and you have absolutely no tools whatsoever to stop seeing postgame chat or, god forbid, stop playing the game. i still don't understand what your point is or how it relates to your initial comment.

See. A little bit of sheit talking at the end, that's ok, like with the old wrestling matches.

But a lot of the people there cross certain lines regularly. When I smash someone at a table tennis match, I might say "Fufufu eat dirt, dirtbag!" and maybe get a laugh out it, because that's what's expected and ok.

But insulting their mother, wishing harm on them for that one good ball they dealt me and cursing their family or insinuating that the death day of their mother should be a national holiday, THIS I would neither do nor allow to fly. Just imagine it in any normal setting.

Video games are not the real life, but behind every single screen sits a real, breathing, feeling person. A human being. And while in today's day and age a lot of people are over sensitive and got no skin whatsoever, this here isn't a snowflake issue. These people, who insult so freely, either lack boundaries in their lives, education to know how to behave or just plain are at that age were they think being that edgy is utmost cool.

No one here is talking about a perma-ban or something like that, but a 72h period to sober up wouldn't hurt most of this peeps.

When was the last time you saw someone in this game reported for saying such horrible things. I advice is just make your profile private and skip end chat

I reported teo people for such instances. One of them argued with me about the viability of tunneling, camping and that proxy camping from hook to hook wasn't patrolling. When I didn't concede to his POV he started throwing slurs about my perceived sexual orientation at me.

Another onehad actually a very good, yet sweaty, game against me, which I won, in the end. I said something "phew, that was an intense game", to which he said in some east European language, that I won't disclose here, that he wishes that my mother dies soon and that her funeral day should be made a national holiday. He also called me a shovel head.

I mean, if you have to throw around such insults, at least do it in English if you don't strongly suspect that the other speaks your language, what's the point otherwise?

But also, just don't. Wishing such horrible things on the other player or their loved ones is as low as it gets.

BTW, in case you don't know how to report: first in the endgame chat you can click next to the name on a button with a thumb up/down pictogram and report that player for grieving, language abuse, bad sportsmanship and exploiting. This alone is not much, but its very, very important (read mandatory), as this creates a ticket in BHVR system with the names and date of everyone involved.

Next make a Screenshot of the endgame chat. If you are using Steam this is F12. In epic or on console, I don't know.

After this go to this link

    https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

And chose "additional player report information".

There you can write what happened, have to provide your very own player ID number, which is extremely long and can be found at the very bottom of the in-game configuration page, and also upload any screenshots you got of the incident. You will also ask if you already filed an in-game report.

This all takes quite some while and might feel a bit excessive / petty, BUT it's the only way how we can give the bad apples a stern reminder that their behavior is not cool. I don't expect that they will be banned, but I guess that even an email with some questions, and the knowledge that you are now reported, might influence a lot of this peeps to curb their lose mouths and behave a bit better.

    B. Approach the woman, ask if she needs help.

You stand up, and slowly make your way around the tired to the towering woman. Though your heart only beats louder as you approach, you feel the need to help someone who doesn't seem to be looking at their best. You take a few tentative steps toward her and her gaze falls upon you.

"Are you okay? Do you know where we are?" you ask, hoping she could provide a little bit of insight or company in this lonely green graveyard.

She speaks, but she isn't saying words you can understand. "Adda ni ka dingir asar po me!" she says, with a powerful cadence as if she should be on a podium beseeching a crowd. You stand confused in silence, and she takes a deep breath. Hoping that she speaks something you can understand, you wait.

Her body tenses, and her cheeks grow. The words that come from her mouth this time are not words at all, but a wretched green sludge that makes you cough and sputter the second it touches your skin. You feel weak and sick, and she takes another sorrowful breath with you in her sight.

    What do you do?

    A. Beg her to stop.

    B. Use your speed training to run to the building in the distance.

    C. Run past her to the wall of cars behind her, there looks do be a window you could hop through and a slab of wood that might create a bit of a barrier.

    A) Beg her: "Please step on me, Vommy Mommy! Uwu"

I can confirm that his perks will work for this challenge. At first I thought they didn’t because the achievement didn’t pop. Realized I had Tinkerer (forgot that is Billy’s perk). Removed that next match and was awarded progress on the achievement. I had Jolt, Spies & Whispers.

Thanks a lot for confirming this! This should help a lot since Jolt and Fearmonger are pretty decent perks. Spies! How could I forget about that one. Spies in the Shadows is actually one of the severely underrated perks that I just love to switch in every now and then. Yes, it got some issues, but every time I got it equipped I get so much value out of it. No one plays calm spirit and so often I hear this perk fire off in my back when a survivor, that was really sneaky, moves away.
