He’s just an a**hole. I’m sorry that happened to you. Not every survivor is like that. There some good ones trust me!

Everyone, don't believe such lies! Each and every last survivor is out for Killer blood! Attack is he best defense, so tunnel them all!!11 D:

But jokes aside, the best way to deal with such people is to just ignore them. They are often so desperate to get your attention that they will follow you and hover around you as to not miss an opportunity to harass you or go for a flashlight save, that its actually free map pressure and a pseudo 3v1 for you.

  • Sorry for your loss, fam.

  • Tbh, I have hit the biggest wall as a killer, ever.

I was Iri1 since starting the game im November and happily played the role as killer main, but if late I get so many sweat squats and groups were it doesn't matter what I do.

So I don't know of my MMR got so high overtime that the lack of other killers is matching me with the tough ones constantly, or if the general lack of killers is the culprit, but it feels the worst it ever got, and I sometimes AFK after a few fruitless chases because I think "why bother? They all got DH and know how too loop perfectly." and I am not sure if I could smurf my way out of this, if I tried.

This game is probably going through its biggest crisis yet and I genuinely hope that something drastic is done soon.

I know, the doom and gloom sayers were always a part of the game, but this time it feels somehow more... substantial. People always say that Steam and PC is only 1/6 of the Player base or something, but still, its a big enough sample to probably be accurate, that's why you don't need to ask everyone in the country about their opinion, but only a couple thousands. Even though we can't see the other platforms numbers, I would be surprised if things were much differently there.

I've been playing really nice today as Onryo so I feel like this may be my fault.

I've let all Yoichi's escape today because they're precious and survivors keep memeing and I'm highly vulnerable to memes. I can't help it.

I'm just very very capricious. In an hour or two I might start equipping ultra rare add ons and Mori. Who knows.

Feeling cute. Might kill you later.

  • Honestly, this would be sooo cool. Not only the secret video, but that its cursed and crashed the game! I can't wait to get home and try for myself :>

  • In the grind we trust.

  • No need to go at this hypothetical, its already a reality, albeit not beyond salvaging and repairing, if someone gave it the rigjt impulses.

But back on topic, I guess eventually the games player base will melt down to a hardcore family of a couple thousand players, not unlikely the games formative years. You would constantly be matched against the same players and everyone would just rotate survivors and killers and the attitude would be much more relaxed, because all the try Hards either left years ago or left their ways behind, become one of the family.

Mathieu would eventually acknowledge his bigger errors and grow as a person, but it would be too late tocstop the fall from grace. In the post-apocalyptic phase he would actually start playing the game and agreeing to a lot of the complaints of old and, being one of 5 devs left, wouls work closely with the remaining players to try out things for fun. Things woild constantly kills switched, numbers dialed up or down and a dozen members of the community would be so deep in the matter that their input be listened too, turning them into de facto devs. It will be a fun time, a time of strong family ties and finally even DH will get nerfed, imploding the game, because its code was holding everything together. And then everyone will maniacally laugh. DH was he killing joke.

yea its technically the only real second chance perk survivors have

It's strong enough that it covers for 2-3, though.

Also DS is about as second chancy as it gets.

IW covers for a lot of mistakes, because you can easily disappear in situations were the killer should not be able to lose you.

Exponential just lets you disappear completely. Its not meta, but its the lowest skill 2nd chance: get hit, completely disappear, get a 2nd chance to heal up and do your objectives.

I seriously don't understand why people keep saying it's the Matchmaking. It feels pretty obvious to me that it's the balance being terrible.

Because before you could just play and were matched with all kind of skill levels. Now, if you are consistently competent, you are "punished" for that by getting sweatier and tougher matches.

Especially killer mains complain a lot that the quality of their matches is becoming more aweful and "unfun". You get matched with good SWF and bully squads more and more and can still win, but these wins are so hard earned in an aweful way, that the whole affair feels miserable.

Defenders always point out "this is what you get for playing so sweaty. Chill more and play for fun and you will face like-minded survivors" or "so you just enjoy noob-stomping? Pathetic.", but all of this is over simplifying the problem and shifting the blame again to the individual player.

My fun as a killer was eroded a lot the last two month. I love playing killer, but I can't play in any meaningful way anymore. It's just sweat squads and bullies and its so draining. And if you meet a normal group, chances are that you don't realize it until you stomp them into the ground, because you got to play as hard aa possible from the start against tougj groups, or lose miserable, there is no in between.

I don't care about that? Why tf would anyone want a Michael Myers blighted skin? That ruins the character. Skins should be from the movies or the games they come from but the blighted skins are just crazy

I respect and applaud your sticking to Canon and the originals, but I gotta say that skins always were the right place to explore alternative concepts and sometimes fun, sometimes silly, sometimes awesome what-iffs.

Sometimes skins are indeed alternative outfits a character wore in another movie or scene, but at other times it's just non-canonical playing around with said character.

It can get eyerolling dumb when it's stuff like "poolparty shirtless Trapper and Huntress" (btw, a Poolboi Billy would work awesome), but others like the Minotaur for Oni are cool explorations of the basic concept.

And now please give me my Pink Mohawk Myers or I'll rage quit and uninstall the game :<

Sorry to say it, but then survivors would just complain about the killer playing fair if you got ruin re lit, lol

That's what you do at a brain storming event: just throw everything at the table and go wild and imagine things and sometimes you stumble over a really cool, wacky idea that could just work.

Yeah, a relit Ruin would suck in today's meta, but if the killer had hooked everyone twice without killing someone to get it? By that point everyone probably had an awesome game and the survivors were working on their last gen.

But anyways, relit Hexes were just one wild idea, but in general I think that this "Devour Hope"-esque mechanic could work, BHVR would just have to decide on the bonuses and rewards.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Reward killers for going for chases, against multiple survivors and not just 1 or 2 in a row, and not just camping. I don't know how we're gonna do it, but that's what we should do.

Give killers a Devour Hope like effect as base line. Obviously not Devour Hope, but something like "gain an Entity token each time you are 32m away when a survivor gets unhooked", and then each token gives something, like 2 or 3% gen repair speed reduction, or whatever. It needs to be an effect that rewards the killer for playing like most of us want to play, without shooting yourself in the foot.

Normally, when you run away from a hook and ignore it (Devour Hope style), then you get punishes by the survivors who stick to the gens. Tunneling one player out and turning the game into a 3v1 asap is so prolific because you just can't keep up with 4 healthy survivors, unless something goes awefully wrong.

So gen regression, maybe even a few instant percentages instant loss might be a possibility. Or showing some auras if you get your third Entity token.

Or maybe relight a cleansed Hex totem? Imagine how the dynamic of a trial would change if you suddenly regained a Ruin at the last gen and could meaningfully defend your 3 gen as a reward for not tunneling.

  • 6-7, some days 8

I am very surprised by myself, as I loved the game to death this past month. I started playing in November and nearly played DbD exclusively since then and accumulated 750h. I mainly played killer, but have probably a 70/30 split with survivors and am slowly catching up with the survs tome challenges.

In the first few month I was a horrible survivor and only got into silver grades, while I always got into killer Iri1 with ease. This month its flipped: I got Iri1 with survivor nearly effortlessly, but struggle so hard to pip with killers. I am in killer Iri3 now and just lost my two hard earned pips with two matches back to back that weren't that bad, but still displeased The Entity. I guess I finally reached those lofty hights of high MMR as killer, as nearly every game I play is aweful and just a pain to play through. The last couple of days I hardly ever played killer, because I just couldn't motivate myself. And the few times I did I was proven right.

I know that the SBMM and MMR system cost a lot of money and manpower to develop and implement, but afaik people told you from the very beginning that this would be a bad idea, and look what you got: the game is haemorraging players at an alarming rate, not even the new chapter is stalling this much, and players are telling you daily how much MMR negatively impacted their playing experience. Heck, just scroll up here and you will find just a few posts NOT lamenting the state of the game and the way MMR screwed things over.

I know that this will be a very, very bitter and hard pill to swallow, BUT someone has to pull the trigger and revert the MMR system. Run a test weekend or something and a weeklong PTB to see how your players react, and I guess we all know the truth. If you want to save to game you HAVE to listen to what your playerbase demand. Do it! This one time. Please! Your stubborn adhearance to the MMR system is literally killing the game. There are many other problems, too, certain balance issues and design decisions, but all this pales to the aweful quality of the base game that MMR forces upon us all.

Directly after typing this, I got it and got T2 the next round. Just over 2m BP. Also - no DMS, no Ruin, no Pop, no Devour. Going to be playing her now, love stealth killers and love Ringu so if she's fun I'll likely main her for a good while.

When I P3ed my Pyramid Head I got nearly exactly the same slog. I got some pretty fun builds on my journey through P1 and P2 and then in P3 I would get not a single one of the 6 perks I liked until I hit Lvl50 +10 or so. It was ludicrous. And it took so long for me to finally get BBQ, which was one of the lvl 50+ perks :V

MMR doesn't reset monthly only survivor and killer grades.

I've already tested that on Billy who I play like once every 2 years, first game since MMR and I had an SWF and got absolutely bullied into nothing.

MMR doesn't reset, but you got different MMRs for different killers, especially when you start with one. The killer MMR needs a few matches to home in, so in the first few matches with a brand new killer you got quite the advantage and its much easier to gain a merciless rating. What throws this system off if lobby dodging. If a killer dodged a lobby that blood-thirsty survivor group will be prioritized to give them any game, just to keep waiting times as least somewhat manageable, but this outliers aside you should have fairly "easy" games with a new killer.

And also after a grade reset in the ashen and bronze region you only need a so-so good-ish game to get a merciless rating, where as in Iri you need practically a perfect game. If you happen to be in Iri1 you actually NEED a perfect game to be rated merciless, I got pictures of 1 gold and 3 iri medals that were short one little step, so just save yourself the hassel and only try to go for the adept achievments when you are in the lowerish grades.

  • I still don't get the reward part with everything around the issue, your system or the one we have in place right now.

People cry out for the unfair part of a killer raising their MMR with scummy tactics, one camped hook plus one NOED kill or whatever, but whats the fuzz about?

There is no reward for raising your MMR, your only reward will be better players, survivors who are so stealthy or so godly at looping that you are begging for scraps, till your MMR score hopefully falls again into a more managable region. Sweat is the only reward of high MMR, and this is the biggest issue: skillfull or scummy, being successful as a killer will only lead to frustration.

The last 10 games as Pyramid Head, my best killer, were absolutely aweful and 0 fun, literally. It was just frustration and I am seriously considering watching a movie while smurfing my account, because for me there is little to no value in playing the game right now. And it aint the number of kills or hooks or whatever, its the quality of the matches. I am matched with obviously very good survivors, and the matches are nothing that I can enjoy, no fun chases that eventually end in a down and a hook, only endless chases with god-loopers and an inevitable escape. If I get a down the whole team decends on my and makes sure that THIS hook ain't happening.

I am finally understanding this "killer burn out" that some people talk about. I am a killer main through and through, but these days I feel less and less motivation to try to get a few kills and try more to catch up with my survivor tome challenges.

the boon is underwhelming and not worth to equip, yea some really good survivors can squeeze out a bit more on a loop if they're lucky enough to loop around the Boon, but this won't happening every game. They have only 4 perk slots and there are far better options to bring.

I generally like 2 of the new killer perks. Merciless Storm is not that strong and more of an annoyance for survivors but the other 2 have good synergizes with existing meta perks and i will use both of them a lot i guess

I think most people take a way too straightforward look at this perk and write it off as garbage. I am not saying that it is an overtly strong perk or got meta potential, but here is the gyst of it:

speed is one of the most sensitive aspects of the game. A lot of the loops are designed for certain values and if you mess with it the effects can be big. You can see this with how people get caught by Clown every time in normally save loops, because they underestimate the effects of his bottle slows. Clown has a lot other issues which hold him back, but he is excelent at breaking up otherwise save loops.

With Dark Theory you will escape a lot more by a hair's breadth. Everytime you got hit just by the edge of a killers lunge would be a whiff, and this could quickly add up. Also the killer might not notice its effect right away, or deem it not too pressing to hunt down that totem, where as a CoH can nearly never be left alone, least the killer is ok with comitting the each and every chase and never let some survivor escape.

I guess you could swap Dark Theory in and just see how it works out. In (Dark)theory you should escape more chases and get longer looping times, without being too oppressive on the killers side to go out of their way to shut it down. This would be its strength. Other perks will give you a more tangible effect, but I think DT is more subtle, so many players won't recognize what it can bring to the table.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Well, yeah, a bottom tier killer with a fanfic survivor and mediocre perks IS a bit disappointing on paper. However, Sadako is a legend and the idea behind Yoichi is inspired, ar least. And personally, at least one killer perk is fun and one survivor perk is busted. So, all in all, I rate 8/8 m8. No NFTs, and no performance issues make this the best release since I joined the game, at least!

Hey fam, how did your plan work out? Did you get Sadako to P3 in one day? Did you have fun with her? Please tell me about your experience :)

Personally, I got her to lvl 40 asap and tried her out once, but will wait till Grade reset to actually play her, because I am a whiny and thin-skinned killer main, by now.

I should have worded better. 2 of them give u no value and the other requires an indoor map with 2 floors to be decent. Boons shouldn’t go through multiple floors tho hopefully they can change that

    Indeed, thats much better :D

But sarcasm aside, of course you can make everything sorta work, but it won't be optimal anymore and the gap between CoH and any other boon is just that massive. If Exponential works its quite fun, but you need to sorta work for it, set it up in a busy area or drag the killer over and loop them there, for it to even have a chance to work. And thats all again out of the window if the killer decides to just pick you up after downing you, what they do 9/10 times.

One problem is that all boons work with the same basic parameters. Exponential could be a cool perk if it worked more like a Hex totem, ie if its light up and you go down anywhere, you can recover, but then it loses a token/gets snuffed. But it being forced to work just like all the others, with their 24m radius, it falls flat.

So in the end, unless you and your team build around something special, only CoH, and maybe Shadowstep, give you consistantly benefits without bending backwards and getting lucky. Shadowstep is actually pretty good, no matter what, but you gotta find a somewhat central totem for it, best in the main building, and that wont always be available. so CoH is always the save bet that will give you something very useful in return.

  • Literally 0 value. No matter your plan, no matter the circumstances, no matter the placement: 0. Value.

So if I leave my house unlocked and with the door wide open, can I really be upset when I come home to being robbed? That's literally what this is the equivalent to. If I leave a 100$ bill on the ground in a public area, how upset can I be when I come back and it's missing?

It's just common sense. And yes, I will shame people for lacking it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2840483#Comment_2840483

Ok well i'm sorry your friends are dumb enough to accept friend invites from random strangers on the internet. Or even more dumb for staying there and listening instead of just blocking them? Idk what to tell you.

There are nuances to everything. Yes, keeping your front door unlocked might not be a clever thing to do (even though in some rural areas its pretty common), but if someone goes in there and steals anything that ain't nailed down, that person is still committing a crime and is still entering unlawful. And in this case you can still berate the victim, if you chose so, but you shouldn't blame them and imply that they somehow deserved their fate.

And getting an invite on steam isn't like getting a random call on your phone and being quizzed for your personal information, steam is a gaming platform (duh, who would have thought :D) that encourages people to interact and to connect. As I said, this stuff is more nuanced then pure black and white vision allows for. Maybe give it a try yourself :)

Why start victim shaming, here? Yeah, maybe that wasn't the most clever thing to do after their salty chat, but 1) post game chat is always dumb, but in a real talk most people are just normal people and 2) more important, even if accepting the friend requests were the dumbest move imaginable, this still doesn't make BenZ0 in any way, shape or form responsible for this way, way, WAY over the top hatred and personal attacks.

  • I only played her once to try her out. I won't touch her again until after grade reset, to keep my MMR with her as low as possible. Once I got my Adept Onryou achievment I will play her properly. This is another consequence of the busted way killers Adept achievments work and i bet that I am not the only one.

  • @Sluzzy said:

  • I played her once today, but won't touch her until grades reset at the 15th. The less I play her the lower my MMR will be on the 15th and the "easiest" I have it to try to get her Adept achievment.

  • Maybe make even more of this challenges, while giving the first person out a big bonus to BP. This could incentive survivors to BM less and don't waste THAT.MANY.LIFE.MINUTES. OR. EVEN.HOURS.

Coup de Grace. If it was just a simple boost to lunge distance, even a more modest one, I’d use it. The way it works though feels like it's overly complicated and inconsistently available for what it does. You get only a handful of tokens for it over the course of a game and you may not even want to use a token on a given lunge at that.

    My thoughts exactly.

Coup de Grace could be fun, but as it works right now you never have a super lunge available when you need one, but always waste them when not needed.

Also Second Wind with survivors. In concept I like it, but its so complicated that I feel I would have to pause the game mid chase to look up how to activate it, again. I remember reading through it like I times in a row when I started playing the game and I couldn't make a lick of sense out of it.

Because their purpose is to provide back-and-forth slowdown by bringing survivors off generators to relight the boons. For all the boons except CoH, this works... somewhat well, some of the totem spots make it kind of obnoxious but the core principle is sound.

CoH is broken because it doesn't follow the pattern of requiring the killer to be in the boon's radius to work. For the other boons, the back-and-forth is a lot more potent and the infinite nature of boons becomes dramatically less of a problem.

Boons aren't hexes. They're not designed the same way, and so they can't be balanced the same way.

That's an interesting train of thought. So what if CoH regained their +100% speed boost but only worked in the killers terror radius, rewarding a high risk, high reward playstyle and also making for a fun and thrilling experience?

Wow, imagine having a perk that's correlated with totems that has limited uses.

At least the minimum for boons would be five, ffs.

Right? Preposterous. Or a perk that gets one use per gen done. Lel.

  • Because *clears throat * "Boons are supposed to give survivors something meaningful to do besides rushing gens, and if totems could break they wouldn't "waste" any more time rekindling them. Also some survivors wouldn't even run Boons in the first place if they could be left with a dead perk after just a max of 5 uses. "

  • Eventually they will have to swallow this bitter, bitter pill, because they won't be able to deny that the game is dying and haemorraging players at ab accelerated pace every since MMRs introduction.

Nerfing certain survivor perks just encourages people to run DS/BT/DH/UB/etc even more. It’s okay for other survivor perks to be good, not everything needs to be nerfed.

    This.

I think in general a survivor perk shouldn't invalid and completely shut down a killers power or even a killers perk, there should be a strength incline between the two that goes from killer to survivor, but also we shouldn't nerf stuff outside of the big meta if it isn't overt unbalancing the game.

In most games its more the other way around, you prioritize nerf ling the stuff that's so strong that its an auto-include/no-brainer and try to make other stuff more viable, in order to get more diverse builds. It's ok to not have an even divide between all perks, you will never come close to that, but you should avoid dead options (perks) and perk up if one option is in 45% of all builds; numbers like that are usually a good indication that something is a) stronger then other options of und same class, b) too strong to pass up or c) needed because it patches another problem.

  • Besides Big Daddy Brawler from Bioshock, as an original I want a Necromancer/Reanimator. He could summon Zombies and direct them with his power towards a gen/survivor/area, but lacks a true M1 attack. He was a sacrificial dagger, but that one can only be used against Survivors held by Zombies. Zombies will eventually damage a survivor when they get one, but first enter a struggle with that survivor that works like a yellow glyph.

Cheryl, so they can fix the body swap bug. Or better yet, just enable it for broader gender expression options.

    Thats VERY scary!!!

  • Hey duuuuude! Nice to see you again :) FYI ... I tried to get into Spirit gameplay, I really tried ... but I guess I am more of a Oni-Yamaoka guy then a Spirit-Yamaoka gal, if you get my drift.

I might try again a bit again, but for the time being I struggle to raise my grade :D Its strange, but I never struggled that much with pipping ever before. Probably because all my good killers are properly played by now so that I don't face against any potatoes five times in a row, but it was a real struggle just to get into Iri 4.

Who would you disable and why?

I'd want to disable Feng or Elodie just because how they sound on hook.

David King, without a second of hesitation. You all know why :D

  • Hey @toxik_survivor could we have played yesterday or the day before that? I saw someone with your name, but I guess its one of this names that other people could come up with, too.

I played a lot of Legion and Pyramid Head that day with a smattering of Doctor.

  • I think a health update would be really, well, healthy for the game.

The art devision can still pump out a few fun outfits and cosmetics each month, but it be oh so cool if BHVR could take a long, hard and honest look at the game and the problems and complaints plaguing it and figuring out since solutions without ego and sunk cost fallacies getting in the way.

This game could be so much more, but its held back and not allowed to unfold its potential.
