"I tunnel early and I tunnel hard"

keep that ######### to a minimum

    No.

  • I always said that the easiest way for BHVR to silence all the salty and nagging players bad mouthing SBMM was to just disable it for a week.

If your system was as awesome as you claimed, then this would silence the crowd for good.

If on the other hand SBMM was as busted as we claimed, then... well, then you are exposed and any random M1 killer could out you doen.

I think I found the flaw in my plan.

  • I once wanted to main him, but in the end I gravitated to other killers, especially Pyramid Head and Demo. I still enjoy the occasional Clown match, but it's always a coin toss if you will have a fun game or if the survivors will BM you all game for the audacity of playing a non-s-tier killer.

  • I gladly crash my game when the survivor team is some SWF who have some obvious crooked thing planned.

Like a map offering and two purple sticks, or 3 same map offerings. Crashing the game won't throw some lower MMR victim to the Wolves and send then back to queue.

Yeah, everyone is their own creator of their fun, but I got little empathy for bully squads that help thinning the already small killer population.

This is pretty cool! Can you please post this explanation again?

  • For real. When playing survivors I basically leave after 10s of waiting if someone gets downed.

Should I then decide to spectate how the match ends I will just see survivors frantically running around the exit area looking over their shoulder, machine-gun clicking their flashlights and fast-vaulting like their life depends on it. Yikes.

I'm not sure if this is a hacker or not but I saw someone the other day on twitch that was devotion 100 and they claimed it was capped at 100 but I'm not sure that's even possible to do in the time frame since devotion has been out, I'm devotion 38 and admitting I don't play the game like I used to but that just sounds a bit high

You know nothing, Kapper. I basically just started the game and am already halfway through devotion 3 on my way to 4. Baaaam!

I’m so good that I don’t even need to use traps. I don’t get how trapper hasn’t been nerfed yet. Trapper is a monster at high mmr. I can go a minute being adj and still 4k without tunneling and camping. At high mmr

Trappers breathing alone can intimidated survivors into killing themselves on first hook, just to make it end.

I understand that but its not just that perk. We'll make it for instance is already underused because of bt but it's even more unhelpful against her. Other underused perks as well like renewal as well. And my poor brown medkit lol.

It sometimes happens that your build, one or more of your perks or even your power are invalidated/hard countered by the oppositions choice before the game even starts. That sucks, but is part of the asymmetry so you never knew what you'll be facing.

I think Spirit, for example, is hit much harder by Iron Will and it being a meta perk then a CoH build ever will be. Some people cry a lot that playing with three perks is like deciding the game early, but that is a load of BS.

Players who run Adrenalin, NOED or No Way Out routinely play most of the trial with a perk missing and can still pull of a win/do good the entire trial without ever getting use out of their end gamr perk(s).

Plague offers a risk vs reward style of game play that I would wish Hex perks not only promised, but actually delivered. Imagine if Hunted Ground (maybe 20s) was base kit for each Hex cleansed, then you would have a proper risk vs reward, but I digress.

I also think that it would be cool if more killers had a sort of side mission going on that survivors could undertake to somehow interact with the killer and do something besides gen rushing: Billy starts with no overheat, but sabotaging his gas storage gives him fast overheat/ going on a quest of Torment and increasingly stacking debuffs while tormented with hintered and later exposed, until the last stage finally makes you immune to Pyramid Heads ranged attacks / opening doors to get more and more Zombies onto the map in order to find the one with the vaccine that can decrease Nemesis infection level... Stuff like this would be cool, but probably less then a pipe dream.

  • Oh äh! Hang 'em higher!

Yeah you don't even need to loop. Shift W and drop pallet.

I don't know who thought it is good idea to making map with a million pallets.

Just an hour ago I had a match on The Game against four extremely good survivors. They all moonwalked all over the place, greeded every pallet to the maximum and were all super elusive, while taking their time to do gens.

In the end I had one player on death hook, of course I ate a DS from that one. After that they finished their gens and bodyblocked and sabotaged their mates way to freedom and gave me a t-bag parade.

When I applauded their bravery for exploiting the busted map to its fullest they said "we exploited nothing, we just know every secret The Game has to offer. You are just new to dbd, wait till you get 1k hours."

What audacity! But well, The Entity waa displeased and I depipped and moved on.

  • @Nebula said:

    I know, I know, another camping/tunneling post.

This problem though, is apparent in at least half my games, where the first person to get hooked will be tunneled and or camped out of the game as quickly as possible to turn it into a 3v1.

This just perpetuates a cycle of survivors complaining about these problems, running meta perks to counter them, then playing killers who don’t do either of these things and punishing them for playing in a more fair manor, turning them into killers who camp and tunnel these survivors out.

This is a very unhealthy cycle for this game to be in, as it promotes “toxic” behavior and a stale meta. Survivors will run the same 4 perks every game, and killers will get a person out as soon as possible to counter this.

I understand that this has been a problem for a long, long time, but when it comes to game design, fun should be the first priority. The current state of the game does not promote “fun” interplay between the survivor and killer and 90% of the time, one side of the lobby will be left with a sour taste in their mouth.

Apologies for the rant, but just wanted to put my thoughts out there.

Yeah, its a never ending cycle of arma race. Good survivors can do a lot without perks just by looping, so if you give them 4 meta perks they generate immense pressure on the killers side.. mear insurmountable pressure. It doesn't help that a fair share of winners love to rub it in and BM like their life depends on it.

Experience this a few times too often and you will come to the conclusion that your only chance is to turn the game into a 3v1 asap.

How could BHVR change this? Make perks weaker the more people have them equipped ; show this in the lobby, so people can try for more unique builds in order to get the full power of their builds.

On the killer side, give them a reward for being 30m away from a hook when an unhooking happens, like Devour Hopes mechanic. I always thought that a gen speed debuff would be good, as the gen speed and gens popping in quick succession is one of the main reasons killers tunnel, but I proposed two survivor nerfs in a row, so maybe give killers a random short-lived buff when they stay away? Smol speed buff/successful hit recovery / vault speed for 30s or whatever. Enough that it's worthwhile for the killer, but also a bit random so that they don't know exactly whats coming.

    Also, Jill.

  • Just FYI: even with the add-on that reduces the deep wound timer by 5s, you STILL chancel your power and go into cooldown :< Its so dumb.

  • Well, yeah, that's the big question. There is supposed to be some vague "you will get better/higher rarity drops from the bloodweb" with higher prestiges, but that's not really felt that much, and it isn't taking into account that for quite some killers the iri and purple add-ons might be strictly worse then the brown or yellow ones. You are paying through the nose for a super vague bonus and some bloody cosmetics of the base outfit, but if you already for some other outfit via rift or an event, then that might not even be worth it.

I would love for some real tangible reward, like "all perks are upgraded by your prestige level" or "at p3 you can reroll the bloodweb for 10k BP", or best of all, give us just a bloody shader that can be applied via a checkbox to all cosmetics! It wouldn't look as good as the hand crafted ones we got now, but I bet that a lot of people wouldn't mind at all, if they could bloody up their favorite cosmetics.

Nah, I say nerf CoH and give us more chests. The feeling of opening a chest is so much better than blessing a totem. It's like "What am I gonna get?"

Opening a chest as Ace with Ace in the hole with Plunderers Instinct and Elodies Appraisal is like breaking one out for everyone. Just take whatever you need.

I don't know what do you mean with competent survivors. But worst survivors i face have totem 1k hours.

And no, grades does not need skill. It needs game-time, that's all. If you play long enough, you can get irri with both roles. So there is not easy or hard. You just need to spend time.

Look, until this month I was mostly with you on this statement. I am not one of this "how comes that my poor Ash 4 butt gets thrown in with four Iri 2 monsters?", thats not what I am saying.

Mostly rank indeed just correlates with playtime that month, but you don't rank automatically just by playing, so it's not decoupled of skill and just a reflection of your hours that month.

The last two weeks I got lots of strong matches and a fair share of 3k and 4k games, yet as killer it feels now unreasonable hard to pip up and I never had it that hard ever before. These days I have loads and loads of matches were I actually do quite good, yet I hardly ever pip up. It feels like moving through molasses, but you must never slack, or the Entity will be displeased and serve you back.

That's why I am ranting a bit and asking others if they are doing just as bad or if something changed. Well, the grades reward changed, so I guess that there are way more sweat squads or there :V

Gen rushing doesn't really exist, they are just doing their objective. It happens when Survivors are good enough at the game to know to focus gens. Which you see more of in higher elo of play (or they are cheating which you also see more of in higher elo).

I find most of this forums is we have a lot of players that do not play in high mmr - who may think they are in high mmr, and so they think others are over-exaggerating or just trying to be one sided.

Better players have totem spawns memorized.

Nah bro, that's oversimplifying things. That's like saying "tunneling/camping doesn't exist, it's just the killer doing his objective." Both statements can be true, you can do your objective, but you can also so it in a certain way that can be labeled.

Of course doing gens is sorta the main objective of survivors (besides, well, surviving), but there is a decided difference between a normal/casual survivor doing gens, and a hyper-efficient seal team doing gens; both are doing their main objective but while the killer might have one gen pop by the time they are done with their first chase, with the gen-rushing squad you might legitly have 2 or even 3 pop in unison.

Everyone can learn the hyper efficient method of "separate and stick to the gens, no matter what", but most survivors behave a bit differently, ie run away when they hear the terror radius and hide, or tackling gens together as a group, believing it to be "faster".

Its really disheartening when you actually aren't doing bad in your first chase and then suddenly you are down to 2 gens. And while one survivor goes for he rescue the other two do their last gens, and you feel pretty powerless in such a situation.

Luckily this kind of hyper-efficiency doesn't happen every game, but this is way a step above simple "survivors doing their job".

  • @Fuzzycube said:

Try using the two iridescent add-ons together and spreading out portals around the map near gens, it's REALLY strong.

Other than that what people have said, STBFL is good on him, I use that, BBQ, Tinkerer and then whatever else I feel like that day.

The two Iris together is like legit cheating. Just place a portal somewhere, another portal 5m away, teleport back and just go hunting down the pior survivors hiding behind some low wall/big bush nearby, not knowing that they are fully visible to you.

When I P3ed my Demo-boi I had about 12 of this combo and I used it up before hitting that prestige button. That twelve games were so much fun... but also kinda mean and semi-toxic, because there is literally no counter play but rushing gens and hoping for the best.... but it never worked out.

I honestly feel like this is a toxic viewpoint. The devs might already be trying their hardest. Maybe the community is impatient and not understanding.

I don't know ... normally, if the meta is stale or if there are glaring balance issues, there are things you can do to easily remedy the situation, ie just change numbers up or down on the PTB, monitor things for a week, adapt. In LoL, if something is too strong for too long, they change it, to give other things a chance to shine. Suddenly things might be stupidly overpowered that no body thought about, but then you change some other number and adept.

Changing numbers up and down to control the flow of the game is not hard, not even with the spaghettiest of spaghetti code. And numbers might not be the most exciting of changes, but it could easily be a constant change. Always keep an eye out what are the top 10 picks on each side and what are the top lowest picks and juggle those numbers around, in order to keep the meta somewhat moving and fresh. But instead of this you have glacial pace with the main meta unmoving and nerfs and buffs that no one understands.

They could even do a council thing and invite the top 6 or 8 contend creators to give feedback and work with the people, who have the deepest insight into the game and its mechanics, because they "playtest" it 10h a day. But instead people who really care, like Otz, make 8h videos of possible changes that would make the game more fair/exciting/fun, but not one hair of that gets even considered. This kind of behaviour of BHVR surely tends to make people a bit bitter, snarky and cinical about the future of their favorite game.

  • Also, use an Eiry of Crows offering. You can stalk people from the balcony over 3/4 the map, often without anyone realizing.

Last time I used Camaraderie I was on the struggle phase for just 10s, before someone unhooked me with BT. What a waste of a perk slot :V

Jokes aside, I sometimes love running Camaraderie just to irk face camping killers who suddenly got to stay around that much longer, while another gen pop.

  • I got into Iri1 each month but my first, since I started playing, but it got decidedly harder since they increased the grade reward to 1 million each and ironically this month I got way ahead with survivor, the role that I previously struggled with. But now I got the hang of it.

Yesterday I completed 85 pips (Aka speed run from ash 4 to Iri 1) in 8 hours 22 mins 46 seconds. In a single 12 hour sitting of DBD. I double piped every single game 43 games in a row giving us 86 pips. Not a single game had 2 Dc's.

So I am curious what is your fastest rush to rank 1 killer? What killers do you think can do this the fastest? Feel free to ama.

Oof, that is mighty impressive! I still struggle with all the bully and gen rushing squads and sometimes lose my killer instinct mid game and then might even depip. But most of the time it goes up. I am mid gold at the moment and usually it becomes much easier in the last two weeks before grade reset, when most SWF groups managed to get to Iri1.

  • I like versing Pyramid Head (my main) and just yesterday looped, juked and circled one for a really long time, it felt like 2min,lol. Two gens popped while I juked him and evaded all his Punishments of the Damned, knowing how that stuff works out and how successful survivors play with me helped me a lot and I faked all the pallets and windows I could get away with.

  • @HermsTheHermitcrab said:

Let me start this off with saying that I am not trying to negate anyone's bad or good experience with the game. Be it on the killer or the survivor side. This is just about my own experience and just because I don't relate to a lot of the killer posts I see on here, doesn't mean others can't.

Now, back to what I came to say in the first place. I started playing the game a few years ago - and while I had some breaks in between for the first two years, I've been playing quite regularly since late spring 2021. Until a few months ago, about November 2021, I never dared to even consider playing killer.

Mainly because I read a lot of posts on here, telling me that I would be subject to relentless toxic behavior on the survivor part, and it would not be any fun, because there was no way I would ever be able to play against survivors that use Dead Hard and Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike [that last two don't really faze me, because I try to make a point in not tunneling, it's just not fun for me, thought I sometimes do it during endgame, if I have to]. So I never picked up a killer.

Someday I just decided to say ######### it and just go for it and lo and behold, I realized that I had a lot more fun playing killer compared to playing survivor - not saying I didn't have fun then as well, just not as much - and I noticed that it was a lot easier for me to rise in the ranks as killer. I don't really care about Bloodpoints, so I don't really care how high I get each month [around low glod ranks], and I'm not a very competitive person, so that could be why I am perfectly okay with getting an average of 2 - 3 kills a match. I mean, I main Legion... on purpose, I just run around and have fun.

I also haven't really come across any extremely toxic survivors since I picked up playing killer, sure there's been one or two people who, for a lack of better words, sucked, but in total, so far I had a great time playing killer. And I just want to let people, who are scared of playing killer as I was, know that it's really not all that bad. You can have a great time! [Also, ever since playing killer I became a better survivor as well - even though I hardly play as one anymore, so maybe you can pick up some tricks as well]

Hey there! Its cool that you finally picked up killer and are enjoying it, everyone knows that we can use a few more killers in the pool.

I am a 70/30 killer main and nowadays play a few games of survivor during the day, when the queues are low, and then switch to my killer during the evening, and I think I know what's going on.

When I started out my experience mirrored yours: I had a lot of fun playing different killers, played mostly fair, by the book, so to speak, and didn't tunnel or camp, while still having a lot of fun and successful matches.

But here is the thing: each of your available killers sorta has their own MMR. Play one killer enough (and be successful with it) and you will eventually break into the higher MMR reaches where killers are broken and their dreama are destroyed.

At the start I constantly switched up killers, so it took a while, but nowadays I have that toxic, sweaty experience with all my killers. So my guess is that if you stick with one killer and get better and better with your main you will eventually experience what all that fuzz and over dramatization is about.

  • @Nathan13 said:

Don’t you get more shards the higher your devotion level is??

Actually you get more shards the higher your level, but the level resets every time you reach a new devotion level. Fun :D

  • @Shroompy said:

You think killer is at its worst state because youre going against some what skilled Survivors???

Youre not a victim for going against people your own skill level, and its ABSOLUTELY NOT the worst state killers have ever been in, that crown goes to 2017 DbD

I guess that you're somewhat right, but people also tend to forget / overlook that playing against a good killer of equal skill is fun, challenging and ultimately manageable, while playing against good survivors of equal skill is mentally draining, taxing, stressful and overall miserable. When playing sweaty you can reliable get your 2k and even eek out the occasional 3-4k,but unless MMR throws you a baby squad, you will have to fight tooth and nails over it and probably grow a few grey hairs, too.

The killer and survivor experiences are not the same at the higher levels of play, not in the slightest, and this seems to be not addressed enough.

The "Power Moves" achievement is somewhat fun and helps you to develop some good skills as survivor and I did it one evening during which I vastly improved my survivor gameplay.

The killer pendent "Tools of the trade" on the other hand was rive with frustration and tearing your hair out. I often played an entire evening just to get one of the five games done and the only thing I learned was that base killer perks suck monkeigh balls and that you have to play like a maniac in order to gain a merciless rating.

  • Once I understood how to implement the trails of torment, it totally leveled up my Pyramid Head game.

I still leave a few trails at frequented choke points and especially like an elegant curve through the shack, but besides that their main usage is to mortally scare survivors into running into them. For real, most survivors will take detours around a loop or outright abandon them, just to avoid stepping into your trails. And those that don't will most likely step into them at loops, priming then for future punishment.

@GoodBoyKaru thought me how to effectively hit survivors with the projectile at loops and its the most awesome thing in this game. The occasional blind hit is also much fun.

One of my favorite combos is Nurse's Calling + M&A to hit them through a wall when they heal up while thinking that you are much further away. I am all ears is also quite good, but requires much more experience and I suck at it.

Besides all this fancy stuff, with Pyramid Head I tunnel early and I tunnel hard. Todays meta more or less requires it. When you I turned the 4v1 into a 3v1 the game becomes much more manageable and relax and I usually go less hard on the remaining survivors, but of course, this differs from their way of playing.

  • It can't be that hard, though. More then double the number of people got this then 250 bodyblocks or 100 Trapper Traps.

Some 8.4% of the playerbase or whatever (from the top of my head, I'm abroad right now). /s

I am not acknowledging that the change to hatch and the EGC happened. Eat my shorts.

  • I have seen three Pyramid Heads this week, which made me very happy.

I of course do my duty myself and play at least 5 games as Pyramid Head a night, but it's always nice to see him from the other side.

  • This shark tank makes me want to not comment on anything.

Survivors do it out of altruism. Killers don't really have anyone to be altruistic for now do they?

Securing a kill and trying to save a teammate from death are very different examples. I wasn't trying to secure a save for myself, but instead for the Meg. If the killer wants to coat it as "greeding a save" then that person is in fact, very twisted indeed.

Killers are altruistic all the time by showing mercy, accepting an item that they can't use or giving someone the hatch. In essence this is even more altruistic because they don't get any ingame reward for this, quite in the contrary, just some fuzzy feeling in their stomach that they made some others players day a little brighter.

Altruism towards the killer, ie giving them a mercy hook when they would walk out of that match with 0k, not BM them at the gate or t-bagging after each successful pallet save, leaving once the doors are open as not to prolong the game, this are things that many survivor players wouldnt even think about because its so ingrained into survivor culture. Not everyone does this, but this behavior is a distinct lack of empathy towards the killer as a player.

  • @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2826263#Comment_2826263

What constitutes a "greedy" play? There wasn't even a hint of greed in my body when I went for Meg.

If altruism is considered greedy then I have nothing to say anymore.

Maybe not greed per se, but lack of empathy? The killer had 1k, why trying to mar this smallest of measure of success for the glory of a daring and perfect escape? Killers have it though enough with all the pressure, so let them have the occasional kill by not "greeding" every possible save just for the sake of it.

  • @Sepex said:

So why are you still using Hexes and wasting perk slots if survivors insta cleansed them?

    I know why.

Because Hex perks in theory offer a wild variety of fun and different playstyles. Sadly you can't experience or explore this alternative playstyles, because Hex totems have a rather silly half-life of 30s.

  • @Brimp said:

Well it is your fun at the cost of someone elses expense. So why should they allow you to have fun if they have the power to do so? Thats the thing with pvp games, you gotta expect to get in situations like that when you use that kind of build.

People must finally realize that there are just 100 stacks of fun in each match of dbd. At the start of the match its evenly distributed between the 4 survivors, but each second of flashlight clicking and t-bagging shifts 0.5c fun over to clicker/t-bagger. Certain actions, like a successful dead hard, head on or hook sabotaging shift even more (10c) fun to that survivor. Each kill gives the killer about 85% of the survivors accumulated fun, so if they manage to kill their tormentor, they get a lot more out of that kill.

Maybe BHVR should increase the available fun at the start of a match or make fun slowly regenerate over the course of the match? But people have been asking about something similar for Myers for years, and it never happened, so I guess we will be left with 100 stacks for the time being.

I've run NOED by itself in the past, 4k'ed 'fairly' before endgame, and still had people trying to justify my 'badness.'

These people are a minority....just a vocal minority - It's easy to recall these interactions because conversations and comments like that just stand out more than all the 'happy gg/silent players.'

I think it's a bit important, and this could just be me, to not paint all survivor players as NOED haters/toxic/etc....Otherwise it's the same as stating NOED is used strictly by bad killer players - It's a blanket statement with zero merit.

Yeah, 100%. Most people just accept NOED as just another perk. But even with the nice players you also got a fair share of people who comment on it, even in a non toxic way, like "nice game, gg. But NOED. Ug" I get that pretty often, I think that it might have been valid at some point in the past? But with todays meta I don't think the NOED hate holds any water anymore. Its not stronger or more unfair then a lot of other options and without delving into this too much, but survivors have a lot of second chance perks at their disposal, so the playing field is more then even.

But that said, yeah, generalizing "all survivors do this" or "99% of killers are like that" is 99% wrong.

  • I think by now its just so ingrained into dbd culture that NOED is a sign of a bad killer and a noob perk and whatever, that no one gives this perception a second thought.

Just 19h ago I had a game with Nemesis where I forgot that I had NOED equipped, and after a fun game on The Game (Nemesis is really fun there ... compared to nearly every other killer. I wonder why?) I got this fun little message on my profile :D NOED did basically nothing, I got 3K the normal way and then downed the last survivor during the EGC after closing the hatch, without any progress to the exit doors done. So NOED just speed the ending up a tiny little bit.

But some salt is always welcome :)

  • I hate DH with a passion for all the cheesy, greedy playstyles it allowes and how a good player can totally invalidate your whole work of an entiry chase. But I am also tired of typing the same old stuff every time this comes up, so I will just leave it at that.

One point though: when playing as a survivor it is a very conscience decision to play without DH. I died a lot more because of this, but I think overall it made my survivor game much stronger, because I can't rely on DH to bail me 4/5th of the times I mess up. Also I don't want to be one of thise hypocrits who rant about something, but then enjoy it themselves. Playing without DH is possible and imho much more fun and satisfying, but well, people gravitate towards the strongest options all the time, and its not hard to see why. But when one option is THAT strong and outpicking others of its class by that much, I think you as the dev should think about why that is so. BT has a similar pickrate, yet BT gets much less hate (still its fair share, but good stuff will always get hate) because most killer players will acknowledge the tunneling problem, and if you actually want to do it you can still play around it.

DHs pickrate is so high that it is a class of its own, and usually when something is so strong that it becomes basically a default auto-include, maybe something should be done about it.

  • Its a real painfully slow achievment, but thats how a lot of the old ones feel. I still think that the Trappers achievment is one of the more tedious ones, with nurse being a close second (do 500 successful blink attacks). The Huntresses one isn't hard, but just takes a buttload of time. At least you could do that one without interacting with anyone. Billies and Wraith ain't that bad, either.

The only killer specific achievments I am still missing are Trapper, Nurse, Huntress and Myers. Stalking 300 people will take some time, especially since I havn't really gotten into playing Myers, yet, but I will try to get it one of this days, together with his Evil Incarnate achievment.

You do not help people do challenges... Because they might actually be playing the game normally a few days later and kill you? Rofl... What in the? Survivor mains, bruh.

Luckily for me I do not want or need the help. But I feel bad for the garbage killers who are likely survivor mains to begin with who have to deal with their own kind from the other side. As if it wasn't torture enough playing with them on your team, imagjne playing against them as someone who doesn't know how to Billy. Feels bad, man.

Pro tip for anyone struggling with this challenge. Instead of playing nice, find the weak link, hard face camp them. Do NOT kill them, slug them when they get to stage 2 and proxy camp the slug. Easy. That is how I did it before I learned how to Billy, back when I would literally struggle to do his daily and need exit gate hits. Anyone can do it. You do not need to hope for a helpful survivor main.

This is how I got my "hit 15 survivors with a hatchet" challenge without farming: I found the weak link and then proxy camp her body and hit everyone approaching with hatchets and downed her every time they got her up again, then scared people away in melee and chased them till we passed a locker, so I could get my refill of hatchets. Worked like a charm, and eventually I started hooking.
