I have returned to the Dead by Daylight Forums after hearing the most recent news of it getting deleted forever. (By @PaulieEsther )
I joined these forums in September of 2018. Literally 8 Years ago. I have had many debates with other users. Heated or not. I have seen many bans before the alleged obsessive ban waves ridiculing these very forums. I've seen the downfall and the rise of the Game, Forums, Devs, and people responsible to respond to such out cry.
I've seen Buggy releases (Twins & TWD), I have seen Hated patches from Live and PTB (Myers Rework, Freddy Rework, etc.) I have even seen ENTIRE Licenses get revoked and not renewed (Stranger Things, & Halloween). I have even seen when the Forums were raided by random people trying to grief our community and shove hate down our throats.
I've seen it all. Yet, one thing for certain. People who love the game come to the forums not for hate, but to show how much they care based on feedback and how they feel about certain actions. You don't even see that on /r/DeadByDaylight.
I've even met @PaulieEsther through this game, The King, Odtzdarva, etc. and they helped build this community and helped it grow and now hearing this feels like it's getting tarnished.
By deleting my 8 years or for every other person: 10 years of history, who has been with you throughout your struggles and your successes. That not only defeats your purpose of keeping your community alive, but it also kills any community you will gain in the future.
Some people refuse to read patch notes on Reddit. They love how they are structured on the Forums. Some people come to the Forums as a way to report bugs, some come to the forums to provide feedback, some come to the forums for updates or news about the game they love, and some people come on the forums to ultimately give BHVR a reality check.
For a company who says they care about the community, getting rid of the only way those people can give the devs a reality check, feedback, bug reports, is the OPPOSITE of caring about the community, worse than Blizzard ENT.
So I will pose this question: Why delete the forums? Why Delete 10+ Years of history? Why delete your fanbase? Why just why disband your community? If you truly cared about us, cared about your game, cared about your trustworthiness, your communication capabilities, or just cared in general… why would you do this?
for those at BHVR I would strongly urge you all to reconsider.
For all the Community out there: @Micheal_Myers has heard you. I will speak for you. For I care about you all, and about all of our history we have made on these forums.
—Myers
Well said. It's a travesty that they've just suddebyl decided to remove such a dedicated part of the community. I doubt anything will be changed, I doubt any of the feedback on this forum closure will ever reach the ears/eyes of anyone who nade the decision. They've shown very well how little they listen to us.

i loved that thead, it was endless arguing and i grabbed popcorn and enjoyed watching it
Yh there's a certain masochistic part of me that loves arguing with those tribal killer mains who've clearly played the game for like a month getting nothing but 4ks against other new players and then hit high mmr and get stomped by good surv teams then come to the forums to complain how survuvor sided the game is. I'm going to miss that.

A fairly recent one but my stop hard tunneling thread that blew up and went a bit insane always amuses me to think about.

It's not the hosting of the forums but the community managers to run it that is the cost of this place. Hosting the forums probably costs them peanuts. I think the move to these big tech platforms probably has a lot to do with the future because these platforms will be almost completely auto-moderated by AI in the not very distant future and they won't need to hire as many mods or community managers.
The forums barely function as they are, so they're never going to get "upgraded" with big tech AI moderation. You need real people to run this place. But who needs people when big tech has decided the future of the web belongs to the machines?
I remember them putting out a request for mods to join up not that long ago. I'd offer to volunteer if I felt it might save this place, even though I don't have a spotless record and I know I'd really hate being one. There was one forum member who put in an application to be a mod and they promptly got banned for something shortly afterwards. 🤣
I recently chose not to spent another penny on this game as well. Even before all this, so many of the recent changes stopped me wanting to play and there's also the worry that I won't even be able to pretty soon with the upcoming graphical update. I don't feel like supporting BHVR at the moment.
As for the forums not being archived, I think that's a huge loss to the community. And if I do happen to join up to one of their future official community platforms, I won't be posting nearly as much as I have done in the past, knowing how little our contributions on the forum mean to BHVR.
I've noticed that trend to and it really worries/upsets me. Companies just want to farm as much labour as they can out to AI to save money and recruiting effort. But it comes at the cost of quality and drinking water as well as removing jobs from the industries involved and means there's no point in people building any of the skills for tasks that companies will use AI for.

Salt in the wound. More I hear and think about this forum, the angrier I get. It's such a huge ######### you to the community on here.
Some beancounter decides that the pitiful amount of money spent to keep the forum running can be snipped from the budget to save a few pennies. Cutting off the best and most valid portal for well formatted feedback. The forums (despite being somewhat whittled down by nitpicky overenthusiastic ban usage) are full of dedicated and passionate players most of whom, in their own way, are trying to supply feedback and suggestions to improve the game that they love.
And the alternatives? Screaming into the void on discord, watching whatever idea you've just posted get buried under 100 other messages of meaningless drivel in seconds. Or reddit a well documented cesspool of the worst the internet has to offer.
Way for bhvr to show the community how little they care about our opinions. I won't be spending a damn penny on auric cells from now on. And would encourage other players to do the same, probably a drop in the water as far as bhvrs profits are concerned. But it wouldn't take many players doing that to mean bhvr loses more money in sales than they save by killing our forum. And that would provide me with a smidgen of comfort.

DEMOGORGON DEMOGORGON DEMOGORGON
Playing demo is what got me into dbd. I spent a couple weeks reading up on perks, killers and survivor abilities and backstories. Was super excited to play demogorgon in particular. Then found out it wasn't in the game anymore. I did a deepdive and found out that the physical nightmare edition for xbox (my preferred platform) came preloaded with the stranger things content so would allow me to access demo. I immediately got involved in a bidding war on ebay for a physical copy and ended up winning. Got my copy and immediately started playing tf out of my beloved demo. Still my absolute favourite killer and definitely the one I'm best with.

Hey, all. It's been a minute since I've been on these forums. Just got back on today and saw the post about it closing. Don't really know what to say about that.
Anyway, for years I've been unofficially petitioning BHVR to get an official The Mummy (1999) chapter. And now that Brendan Fraser is officially doing another The Mummy installment (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt22408968/?_ssoLoop=1), it makes even more sense to get one.
So, BHVR, please get that license. Give us Rick O'Connell as a Survivor (and Evie ideally, too), Imhotep as the Killer, an ancient Egypt map, 1920s clothing, cool perks. Would be a dream chapter for me.
Bro that would be so sick. Imhotep would be an awesome killer and the survivor potential is huge. Benny players would be the new rats 🤣

Upvote this post to tell BHVR directly that the community does NOT want to lose these incredible discussion forums, for the following reasons:
1. A lack of equivalent platforms offering the same services or level of usage
There simply isn't another platform that provides the same combination of accessibility, organization, community activity, and long-form discussion that these forums currently offer.2. It would directly interfere with BHVR’s ability to collect feedback on changes and new content
The forums provide BHVR with a centralized place to see detailed community feedback, identify recurring issues, discuss proposed changes, and understand how players feel about new content. Removing them would make that feedback process significantly more fragmented.3. It would remove an important space for meaningful discussion between players and the developers
Not every issue can be properly discussed through short-form social media posts. The forums allow players to provide detailed explanations, debate ideas, share experiences, and build on one another's feedback in a way that other platforms often don't facilitate as effectively.4. It would make valuable community knowledge much harder to preserve and access
Over the years, these forums have accumulated an enormous amount of guides, discussions, bug reports, technical information, game knowledge, and historical context. Closing them risks making that information significantly harder for both current and future players to find and use.Any other reasons (not currently listed) yall have- as to why these forums should not be shut down - comment them here
I can add that I'm never buying cosmetics again. No rifts, no paying auric cell character purchase. Idk how much money they spend keeping the forums live but it can't be much. I used to spend on the game fairly regularly but this move has genuinely put me off supporting the company.

As a relative newcomer I still feel I've got so many great people left to get to know, so forgive me if my list isn't exhaustive. I might tag people who don't even know who I am but I've read their posts and enjoyed them plenty.
@cogsturning We may not agree on everything, but I find your takes reasonable and your love of arguing is a great spectator sport, even if I don't agree with you about everything. Also is the reason I'll be able to keep contact with some of y'all.
@HoodedWildKard For the Demo love and general positivity, something to be lauded. Gem.
@Skittlesthehusky Thanks for the effort you make and what you put back into the community. People like you keep aging communities alive.
@Nazzzak Mature and empathetic, likes Freddy which is a sin but there's forgiveness to be earned. You made the forums feel welcoming.
@hermitkermit Every post I've seen has been upbeat with a rather wholesome inclusive undertone to how to approach the game. Refreshing given all the grizzled vets that would prefer the playerbase shrink to 12 comp players.
@GentlemanFridge Resident birdposter, birdhead, bird stan, birdcore birdvibes with bird aura. I love the consistency. We solve conflicts with bird pictures, and we use bird pictures to establish new friendships.
@Arcturus Fellow ST enjoyer, japester and pleasant conversationalist. Only really got to interact with you during the forum death rattle but looking forward to a few games in the future.
@NeverSolus I'm still figuring out if your takes are the most reasonable, well explained takes I've read so far, or you're just in it to fight people Cogs style. Keep the mystique up, you're fun to chat with that way.
@CountOfTheFog Thank you. That's all!

Nurse is a very odd killer to play. It's a combination of reflex and prediction. She does take a bit of getting used to, best just to keep going till you build that muscle memory. I played her pretty hard when the darkest dungeon rift came out, got passably skilled with her.
I wouldn't practice against bots, they behave very differently to players, particularly with killers that have odd ways of hitting, like nurse.

It's interesting because what I remember from Reddit is that the more responses a comment on a topic gets, the harder it becomes to read. The formatting isn't helpful for hot topics. And Discord would require a lot of catch up reading. The server I'm in only has a small number of active users, yet when I hop on in the morning I sometimes have heaps of discussions to read through. It's time consuming. I just don't understand how those places have been determined to be more conducive to feedback gathering than a forum.
They haven't, they've been determined to be cost nothing and require next to zero effort. Move like this proves that bhvr don't give a damn about feedback gathering and by extension the actual opinions of their community.

Fair, his ability to literally appear right on top of you can feel so cheap sometimes. I just think in general it is way too easy to get value out of his power for such a strong killer. I picked him up in 2 games and already felt like I was decent with his power, even though at first look it seems like he might be really difficult to play. Out of the other top killers, I had to put more effort into getting good with Blight, Billy, even Nurse and Dracula than him.
Like I said in the original post, there are some insane things people can do with Ghoul, using geometry and "leap logic" as opposed to bounce logic similar to Blight to appear on top of survivors or do a crazy pallet block, but 99/100 Ghouls never learn to do that because they don't need to. The amount of p100 Ghouls I've run into that are hardly any better at the killer than me (someone who has played like 5 games total of Ghoul) is uncountable.
Yeah he is incredibly easy to pick up. Tbh now we're having this conversation makes me think i haven't actually seen a ghoul in a hot minute. Killer winding me up at the minute is jason. Pickrate is still super high and he's a nightmare to play against.
-
Tbh my issue with ghoul isn't the free hit. It's irritating sure but if he was pure m1 he'd be just as bad as legion. Problem with ghoul is the cooldown after his leap is so short. Once you're injured all he needs to do is jump at you, cancel the second leap and unless you're right on top of a pallet or quick vault you're going to get downed. Even legions feral frenzy cooldown gives you a chance when it's used just for catchup, unless you're in a proper deadzone.

Ever since I've started playing Dead by Daylight, i have the really bad habit of taking the game so seriously and taking everything that happens in a match to heart if i ever go against toxic survivors or toxic killers and i just blindly assume that everyone that plays this game is toxic or has beef against me if i have one negative experience against another player if they are tunneling me or tea bagging against me as a survivor and if i have a bad match as killer or survivor then i just quickly assume that I'm just terrible at the game and i'll never improve, i just constantly worry about every match and look at the negatives instead of the positives, how do i stop taking this game so seriously?
I used to have this issue, two major ways I changed it.
First was to change my outlook, approach every match expecting a loss. As survivor this was easier since survs tend a die a lot, if dying was the expected outcome it lessened how frustrated I got. It's harder with killer, but as a rule usually I'm happy with at least 1 kill. And 0k games are usually such a landslide I can tell part way through if it's likely to happen and i just kind of let go.
Second was realising that oddly enough, not that many players intend to be toxic. Dbd is a pretty intense game and people will do stuff on the spot that may seem like toxicity but really is just a reaction to the stress in the moment. I make a habit of messaging ppl/jumping in streamers chats after match to say gg and compliment them for something they did well in the match, and usually the response is pretty decent. You get the odd salty troll but most people respond well. It helps I'm on console and not exposed to endgame chat, immediately after the match is when feelings are highest so people usually just vent.
-
Nah singularity's EMPs really don't do much to stop him. Limiting them per match would be insane.
Any singularity with an ounce of sense saturates the map with pods that have good fields of view. You proc an EMP and most of the time you'll be slipstreamed again in very short order.
Larry does suffer on indoor maps like lerys because ofnthe los breakers but yh we don't need to be limiting EMPs.

I agree with keeping hatch in the game to give remaining survivors something to play for in a losing match. The real problem here isn’t the hatch, but the useless teammates who rat for hatch even in matches that aren’t lost yet. If we had an MMR and matchmaking system that wasn’t completely useless, these kinds of players would be relegated to the lowest skill matches (because they’re probably never escaping through the gates) and if you’re a decent survivor player that actually tries, you would never run into these players in your lobbies. Yet another example of how the game’s biggest problems all boil down to the non-functional matchmaking system.
Yeah matchmaking is always kack. But tbf I don't see people playing like that very often, it's once in a blue moon so I'm not hugely fussed about it. I see people throwing/giving up more often.

I just came out of three solo q matches in a row where people were using the sole survivor left behind build and bush camping the entire game. BHVR remove hatch people do not need a free win for losing the team game. For you survivor mains, this would also help since 1. Slugging for the 4k wouldn't exist anymore, and 2. if the game is 'killer' sided you can get more stats to misinterpret. I know I have already made a post similar to this and still don't have a replacement idea but it is the most annoying thing for me as someone who plays both roles, I lose 4ks on killer, for those who will say I care about the 4k all game I don't but it doesn't feel fair to lose a kill to a magic hole that spawned for them sucking unless if they looped well and helped there team where I will give them hatch, and for survior it just promotes self fishness, I also like the changes to down to the last because it depremotes this but still more needs to be done
Sorry if this is incoherent or ranty I am mad right now.Well they are changing sole survivor so that it's a less selfish perk which is good.
plus as long as you have hatch offerings/left behind and keys, people will still indulge in that kind of rat behaviour. Irritating as it is, I don't see it often enough to consider it a real problem. And as killer if you particularly want the 4k (usually I'm not fussed but if I have an adept of 4k tome challenge I'll do this) you can just slug for the 4k to prevent hatch spawning, or even bring a hatch offering as killer so you can instantly close it.
Hatch is kind of necessary. Without it, survivors have basically no reason to stay in losing games. You'd see a lot more DCs or people just giving up and throwing, which would be much worse than the very rare bush camper waiting out hatch.

I agree it's a good change but I think it has made the offering screen itself not worth showing anymore. Anything that actually affects gameplay is hidden and only bloodpoint offerings are shown. The only exceptions are luck offerings the whole survivor team can use which some players use very questionably, but I doubt we'll have luck offerings at all by 2027 as Slippery Meat is already changing.
I'd honestly be fine with the offering screen not being shown at all and having every match start loading a few seconds earlier. But that'll never happen beacause they have to show off their temporary event offering animations.
Idk it's nice to see if everyone's running bp offerings. Sometimes I might do a farming game if that's the case.
-
They might as well remove luck offerings at this point.
With diminishing returns they are pretty useless for their intended function, the upcoming change to slippery meat is the absolute final nail in that particular coffin. The only "use" for them now is allowing players to go next which is pretty unhealthy for the game.
They're dead offerings atm just like map offerings.
-
@ForTheEntity said:
When I play killer I just default to checking at shack for hatch first, regardless of offerings.
It used to be there were only a few secret offerings but now it seems like most of the non-bloodpoint offerings are secret. Even coins are secret offerings now.
Good change imo. Allows for a bit of mindgaming and guessing. I always hated it when hatch offerings in particular were open, made the endgame a joke unless you had a key. Ample secret offerings makes it more interesting.

Today I witnessed the worst tunnel I have ever seen. I played solo-queue and went against MiNa on Coal Tower.
One of my teammates (Claudette) goes down at 5 gens. Killer soft camps but stays just far away enough so the unhook meter doesn’t activate. Another teammate (Sable) goes for rescue. At this point, Mina is in main event power (or whatever it’s called) and comes straight to the hook, eats the endurance with main event, gets Claudette down again and re-hooks her straight away. I’m sure you see where this is going… repeats the process and then mori’s Claudette. I’m on a gen but other two team mates give up and go AFK at hooks and get killed. Mina downs me whilst they’re hooked so I abandon.
No interaction, no chases, no side objectives … just another boring game over within 5 minutes and barely any BP’s.
Listen, I get the whole “tunelling is a viable stratedgy” rhetoric. 3 gens have popped and you only have 1 hook, I get it! Tunnel in the end game to secure a kill, I get it. But in the example I’ve just discussed, a gen hadn’t even popped and Claudette clearly was not a threat to this players ego… so my question is… why? Before anyone says “I’m not responsible for other players’ fun”, please explain how that is fun? I just don’t understand.
I really felt sorry for the Claudette player. What an unfun and frustrating game to play. And no, I’m not talking about the “survivor rule book” here that some killer mains talk about. To me, this is just basic human respect and not playing the game to win like your life depends on it. I don’t care about “losing”, I care about players (old and new) experiencing this kind of trash gameplay and thinking “what’s the point in even playing?”
Rant over.

"HVR doesn't provide enough stats to say how used any of these were outside of the top ten."
BHVR may not but Nightlight is a good reference for the popularity of perks and killers. Pop specially went from about 25% pick rate to about 5% around the 6.1.0. patch by the time the nerf dropped. Even if Nightlight doesn't account for the whole community, its a good enough indicator. You can also check the same thing happens to all the perks I mentioned. The moment the nerfs came, the usage in them dropped significantly. Unless you want to argue that they're lying about the stats, I don't see how else you can prove that nerfed Pop the Weasel was somehow in top 10 during its nerfed era.
And the perk has the name, and it is the way that it worked literally because of Otz. You know what he also said? That the perk was only meant to be activated once because the whole point of it was to prevent hard tunnelling at 5 gens. The perk can still do that, but now its no longer able to always force a 12 hook game. I never claimed being banned from comp automatically made every banned perk there strong, I just was claimed it wasn't useless you like you said.
"The killers I see most often could not care in the slightest about a couple extra pallets."
Sorry your experience was bad, that doesn't change the fact that the majority of the cast is affected by the pallet density update.
And let me elaborate on that, stealth is a risk. No matter how stealthy you are, there's a chance you get found. You could hide for the whole game, that could work, maybe even be useful for you team, but its not a guaranteed. Some killers are just better at spotting survivors like Doctor, Nemesis, Lich, etc. Or the player may even be used to dealing with hiding survivors by now. You're going to need to learn to loop more than you're going to need stealthing.
Come on nightlight is an atrocious misrepresentation, about 10 people contribute to it, and fair bet that the players who do will be relatively experienced and running meta so it isn't really indicative of trends in the wider playerbase. And the point with stealth is that at this point it's more than a risk, it's totally unviable because of the glut of aura read perks and every aura read counter perk getting gutted.

Honestly they could just revert WoO to the old version where it deactivated and went on cool down when you dropped a pallet or vaulted
This I can get behind. It reins in the perk but still allows you to plan your next tile increasing the skill requirement. Splitting it between 2 perks AND adding a cooldown is just rough. Especially for a crutch perk.
-
I'm same as cogs. Always use hatch at main for the reverse psychology. Killers tend to assume it's shack.
Most of my regular teammates do the same too amd it almost always works. Only time it gets messed up is when a random brings shack hatch offering 😒

@Slurp_Ramen said:
Been seeing a lot of discussion around perks as of late and people throwing their feelings all over the place and I’m noticing a common theme.
People look at one perk then ask why another one wasn’t changed. As an example let’s take the recent side grade to Windows of opportunity, many people have made their feelings known about not liking the change simply because it isn’t an unhealthy perk on the surface and it’s one of the most popular survivor perks, and has been for years.
So people upset at the change go and say ‘well what about the popular killer perks like pain res that should be nerfed too’ and that’s where they lose me.Because fundamentally they are 2 completely different perks with 2 completely different power budgets, their only commonalities are their ease of use for all players and popularity. You have to keep in mind that killers only get 4 perks (maybe half a perk with some specific add ons) and survivors, in total, get 16 perks.
So of course they won’t be treated equally and it’s no surprise over the last few months we’ve seen bhvr steadily lower the power ceiling on survivor perks; because unlike killer survivor can stack duplicate perks with no downside (but they have been addressing this issue with the StB nerf no longer allowing it to be stacked and diminishing returns when it decides to work).
I say this but it’s definitely not perfect on the killer end either, and you all know where I’m going with this, diminishing returns and the fact it has little to no effect on THE most boring killer build, Quad Slowdown.
I won’t pretend like I know how to fix the quad slow problem, maybe it’s just as easy as lowering the regression on the perks, or lowering the regression limit on gens, or simply hardcoding anti-combo features into the perks? I haven’t a clue.
Anyway to wrap up, how would you solve the quad slowdown problem? And how would address certain perks while keeping in mind that survivors get 16 and killer get 4?Yesh it's weird. You think people would use zanshin as an example because it is just windows for killers. But it isn't highly used so nobody thinks about it. Pulling the popular killer perks up is insane when they have a completely different function
As for quad slowdown? Well diminishing returns is supposed to mess with that. Plus it makes for a one trick build. Play stealthy and a killer with no aura reads will have trouble finding you.

If you're thinking about never touching soloq again because the biggest crutches got nerfed and your teammates cannot handle the meta shift, it just makes it sound like you relied more on those perks than the people who actually used them.
Mentioning soloq and teammates in the same argument is a bit contradictory.
But this change will make soloq even less tolerable than it already is. Bad enough I personally rely on windows to run a passable chase. But now I'm going to see a considerably larger portion of any random survivors I get matched with also being unable to run a consistently decent chase. One weak survivor player can ruin a game. Hamstringing a large number of survivor players fron running chase isn't going to do anything good for gane balance.
You can't expect every player in the game to know tiles by heart.

It's because it feels cheap.
If it happens once in a 2v8 match it's whatever. Twice, ooooookay, it's frustrating but I can get over it. But when both killers make a point to double-team tunnel my butt out of the match and it happens 2 matches in a row… I had to bite my tongue to not leave something acidic in the chat box. That happened to me yesterday.
I logged off and played DRG. Rock & stone!
Man I need to try that game. It does look good. And props for dealing with the frustration like an adult, dbd can be like that, more ppl need to be able to step away like that instead of getting tilted and taking it out on other ppl.

to me that's the highest compliment a killer can give me...having a friend come say hi! I just can't be mad at that but that's just me. Only thing I could be mad at is if no gens got done
Yh it is kind of a compliment isn't it? Best oart in 2v8 is if you lead them away from gates, when they hook you, your cage spawns on the opposite side of the map, near the gate that was getting opened while you distracted them, easy escape

people on average already have poor chase times in 1v4 with 0 perks. concepts like "I'm helping the team win" are never a consideration only "this is inconvenient for me"
I love double teamers because it usually means they are not that good.
Tbh the situations I've been getting salt from are usually when my killer team mate is weak and I've popped over to stop them being bullied.
That was the streamer incident. Streamer and their swf were absolutely bullying and running rings around the spirit i was paired with, who was obviously a very green killer. Multiple saves, blinding, pickups and all sorts. I noticed this so I procd my undetectable on shadow, snuck over over to help, jumped them and we took them apart in seconds.
Guess I spoiled their fun bullying a weaker player.

Bruh? I've introduced new people to this game this year and they've literally never used WoO. I still remember my first few hundred hours and yeah I lost a lot on killer and surv, that's just how it goes. Anybody claiming you can't pick up the game without WoO is self reporting hard.
I'm not saying every new player needs to use it. If someone can get good at the game without it, more power to them. My point is that it's not problematic as is, and doesn't need changing.
And yh there are plenty of people who rely on it to run a halfway decent chase. Myself included, as i mentioned in my OP. Nuking the perk is just going to help spike killrates and dissuade a lot of players from playing survivor, which isn't good for the game.
Elitists can call "skill issue" as much as they like. But if you make the survivor role more punishing for a big chunk of the playerbase (in what lets be honest is already a very killer sided update) then less people want to play survivor. You need 4 survivor players for every killer player. Game can't function otherwise.

Two killers teaming leaves 7 survivors to make progress on gens. But I forgot this was 1v1v8
My point. This one smacks of entitlement.
"YOU have to play the game against me in the way I want you to."

This doesn't feel like a question you should need help answering to be honest…
I get people disliking it, but to be getting consistent and such acidic hatemail for it is unecessary.

no it didnt. knowing where every single pallet is you can use to plan out your pathing to be optimal and make sure you have access to every pallet outside of your LOS is objectively not only useful for new players, and players used it for pallets primarily, not windows. windows you can pretty easily predict based on tile layout.
take away woo from p100s and they start running around like headless chickens. this perk has been carrying people and been something they rely on for a very long time. It has literally been in the top 5 surv perks for many years. how is it in the meta but only useful for beginners?
It's hardly meta. You've said yourself the survivors who use it are either new or pretty bad at chase. It's a perk that allows these players to string a servicable chase together. Gutting it like this is just going to tank chase times and throw a lot of games for players who currently don't have a decent winrate.
Windows does not turn a new or mid player into a chase extraordinaire. In my killer games when I have a survivor who gives me real trouble in chase, I very rarely ever see them using windows in their perk load outs.
It has a super high pickrate for sure, because it helps players maintain a basic standard for chase.

I mean, what is fun about it from the survivor side? The main fun that this game provides is the interaction of chase, and feeling as though what you do in chase matters. 2 killers chasing you takes ALL player agency away from the survivor and essentially turns them into a sitting duck. I'm not going to make the claim that 2v8 is unbalanced or anything, because the game mode is seemingly balanced around the possibility of both killers ganging up on one survivor, but it most definitely isn't fun.
The fun bit for survivors is pallet stunning 2 killers at the same time. I pulled one of those the other day against a chucky and wraith team.
Was riding high on that one for a while.

We see like 10 of these threads everytime 2v8 rolls around.
personally I'd be fine with dropping it to 3 zombies, but having the mapwide zombie coverage is good pressure for 2v8. Killers wihout it get genrushed a lot. Especially nemesis since he's built as a 3 hit killer

Because Killers claimed that those are the problem Perks. You now, moving the goalpost, as usual.
I've always found that line absolutely insane. The best chase runners never used WOO. They always know the tiles and how to run them.
Windows just helps new players, or players who suck at chase atrimg a couple of tiles together so they can last more than 10 seconds in a chase.

Tbf a spider killer could be humanoid. I'm thinking in the same vein as artists being a bird killer. A humanoid killer who has spider features or control over spiders would be cool
