One Last Time: Who Are Ya Favs?
You've seen the news, our patch of fog disperses next month, marking the end of our little subcommunity.
I've spent a bit too much time here, waiting for responses, typing out replies, or just reading what you all had to say. Now that it's ending, I honestly feel a little untethered, like a small part of my life was rubbed off a chalk board, but life goes on and on and on, doesn't it? I think we'll all survive the loss of an Internet Forum.
In the time we have left, I want to do a little remembering. Please list any users you wanted to note for any reason, it's your last chance!
I'll start by bringing up someone no longer here with us, but they left a kind of energy I can still feel on the forums at times.

I've always been mostly a lurker with the occasional post, but it's sad to see this place go.
IDK, I just became overly active here recently although I had asked a couple of questions over the years… I came to find out that there are people I heavily disagree with like @NeverSolus and @HexSlugged and people I heavily agree with like @cogsturning , @Nazzzak , and @GroovieAshes but I'm thankful for both sides because unlike the other platforms BHVR is switching to, I could have actual conversations with people here about the game, these kinds of discussions are just impossible on Reddit and Discord.. Steam Forums are barely even worth a mention because I don't know anyone that uses them.

i remember laughing at @Sluzzy posts even before i knew how to play the game (not that it changed much, but still xD)
i dont post much and as i dont really have much to add when i do its usually unserious stuff, but i really like reading the discussions. this has been my favorite corner of the internet since i got into dbd, and honestly im kinda sad that it will soon be gone.

Old Freddy was the reason I joined the Forums in the first place, and now that this Forum is ending I can proudly say that he still is my favorite of all time.
There are too many to name and if I try I'll forget some so I just won't. Most of y'all already know who you are though, and I'll still be talking with many of you after the 31st. I'll just say I've appreciated all the arguments, discussions, and even the insults. I've lost sleep to lengthy debates, had my partner mock me for being on my phone too much, and I've had a schizophrenic DM or two. Looking back now it's all been very stupid and entertaining and I'm glad I could talk to so many people passionate about this silly game. Forums are a dying concept and there's so little true interaction on the internet nowadays, and this is one more tiny cut towards the death of real conversation. So thanks to everyone who managed to write more than single sentences for helping to keep it alive this long.

Been a long time, but thanks as well to @MusicNerd_TC. You introduced me to The Dark Tower series, and it eventually led to me reading over a quarter of Stephen King's catalogue.

Kate was my first real main survivor. For years after her and clowns release i basically played no one else until quanton caught my eye, that marvelous boy.

I hadn't even finished schooling or moved yet back when I was conversing with him (though I was very into SCP at the time, if you remember me), MusicNerd pushing me back into reading did a lot for my hobbies and personal aspirations. Wish the guy the best!
As a relative newcomer I still feel I've got so many great people left to get to know, so forgive me if my list isn't exhaustive. I might tag people who don't even know who I am but I've read their posts and enjoyed them plenty.
@cogsturning We may not agree on everything, but I find your takes reasonable and your love of arguing is a great spectator sport, even if I don't agree with you about everything. Also is the reason I'll be able to keep contact with some of y'all.

@hermitkermit Every post I've seen has been upbeat with a rather wholesome inclusive undertone to how to approach the game. Refreshing given all the grizzled vets that would prefer the playerbase shrink to 12 comp players.
@GentlemanFridge Resident birdposter, birdhead, bird stan, birdcore birdvibes with bird aura. I love the consistency. We solve conflicts with bird pictures, and we use bird pictures to establish new friendships.
@Arcturus Fellow ST enjoyer, japester and pleasant conversationalist. Only really got to interact with you during the forum death rattle but looking forward to a few games in the future.
@NeverSolus I'm still figuring out if your takes are the most reasonable, well explained takes I've read so far, or you're just in it to fight people Cogs style. Keep the mystique up, you're fun to chat with that way.

It's so insane to me that I joined these forums at such a young age, and now I've gotten my degree, been through several jobs and am living in an entirely different country! I know it seems crazy because it's just a games forum but this place has been with me through thick and thin and I'm genuinely sad to see it all go. All the old threads, all the laughs, all the arguments - it feels like losing something special. I hope BHVR lock it down but keep it up so we can still view everything, at least for a little while.
If nothing else, it's some of the last online presence of some very dear fallen friends. MusicNerd, NancyMain, Cheers, etc. have all sort of disappeared off the face of the earth, but I wouldn't be who am I today without these people or without this place.

While I have had some takes that people might not agree with, I have always tried to be reasonable. And you might remember me for my (rather unhealthy) love for Sable.
Anyways, I have gathered a lot of memories from being here over the last couple years, and I have gotten to know a lot of amazing people as a result. Too many to mention in one go, but you know who you are.

Almost not surprised that the forums are being shuttered, it felt like they stopped being a source of constructive insight when half the people who provided it were either banned or driven off. I hope BHVR enjoys discussions being even more emotional and reactionary than ever going forward. For all they know, the free insights and dedication the forums have provided were a key component (obviously there are others as well) to the game's longevity in a genre where it outlives all its competition like the DSP of horror assym. Wish them well for the game but its just another decision that enforces constructive criticism is secondary to engagement analytics.

I've gained gray hairs reading these forums, but average person here is still 20x better than the users on the sub/discord. I'll miss having pointless arguments about topics the devs would never see anyways.
