I hated the last test, it was a miserable experience. So I’m against it, personally, and I hope it doesn’t happen.
-
It depends. I’ll watch and see how they play it. If they’re good and the shack is away from the other gens, or if it’s easily chained with other nearby tiles, I’ll probably leave. If there’s an unfinished gen in it, and/or the basement, or if it’s in the middle of the map, I’ll probably try to get the pallet out of them first and then I’ll leave.
-
I don’t think it’s a bad idea in itself. Tweaking the balance of the game to incentivise spreading pressure, rather than just trying to get one survivor dead as fast as possible, is a good idea IMO.
I’m not sure I agree with the numbers though. 15% slowdown is quite a lot, and 33% boost in a 3v1 is a bit nutty. Plus, like someone else pointed out, if you stack slowdowns and then one hook everyone the game would grind to a really slow pace. Slowdown perks would either have to be nerfed or they’d have to make sure they couldn’t be stacked.
I also think this would be quite confusing for new players. It doesn’t feel very intuitive and I can imagine new survivors being confused about why they get slower as the match goes on then suddenly get faster. And new killers will still want to camp because that feels like the obvious thing to do when you’re new. Most of the core gameplay is quite straightforward and easily explained (killer powers, perks, hooks, gens, pallets and windows, hatch), but a mechanic like this is a bit more convoluted and I don’t think new players would get it.

That the thing ruin/undying/tinkerer is only 1 slow down perk. Tinkerer is an info perk and undying make sure you dont lose ruin after 14 sec in the match cause survivor can spawn on totem. And its not like killer have a lot of choice for slowdown perk most of them have a condition take surge that slowdown dont work with blight power i wont go over all the slow down perk but all the slow fown perk are bad compare to ruin or pop.
Another thing i see a lot of survivor complaining about killer build but they are not better they run meta build too. In my opinion survivor can be more original because they make the pace of the game mostly if its a 3 or more swf.
To be sure im not saying survivor op plz nerf or thing like that and i dont want to derail the convo i just use the other side to prove that every player want to win so they will bring the best tool at their disposal.
Undying is definitely a slowdown perk when paired with Ruin. It means that Ruin has to be cleansed twice, which necessitates more time spent totem hunting. Survivors hunting totems are not on gens, which slows the game down.
It’s the same way Corrupt is a slowdown perk. Even though it doesn’t actually make survivors do things more slowly or stop them from working gens completely, it stops them from immediately jumping on far gens which definitely slows down the early game.
Not disagreeing with your other points, I totally get why people run Ruin/Undying. Just disagree that it’s only one slowdown. :)

May i suggest playing more killer? Your experience will change drastically the higher you get.
I play killer at red ranks and this post is pretty similar to my experience, actually.

What's up with the increase in sweaty nurses, not to mention nearly 70% of them i see running IF, BBQ and other perks that seem to be irrelevant with the way they play. It's like off rip downing someone and then the scream, slugging, then getting another person down. With a rinse, repeat and loop. I came across like 5 of these > THINGS < Today and I somewhat got progressively annoyed because it was nearly identical with each build. Mind you, i lost every game at either gen 3 or gen 5, there were NO inbetweens.
Frankly, i expected to be more annoyed if not frustrated at the windstorm wraith buff i've heard and experienced first hand which needs a tiny nerf so that they can't ZIP across the map in like 5 seconds. E.G: Downing someone from the other side of the map, hooking/Getting BBQ/Tinker and ziplining it to the other side of the map. It wasn't even funny how fast Spine chill popped off.
Somehow, I can tolerate him since he's actually escapable than the sweaty nurses who use the same offerings over and over for an indoor or open map like Grim Rose or Macmillian estate. Was there some changed i missed or was i just not left in the loop cause this feels like a new meta to me
Nurse with some info and some slowdown perks, good add ons, and a map offering for Autohaven or Macmillan has always been “meta”, if you’re talking about the best chances to win as killer. Same as DS/BT/UB/DH and a Coldwind offering on survivor.
It’s just luck that you don’t normally see it that often, since most people prefer to play around with different killers, perks and overall builds.
-
Can the devs just disable Lery’s already? They’ve disabled other maps for less.

I tend to get called a tryhard or sweatlord when I play the game normally if someone DC's or someone decides to die really early for some reason, by killing themselves or forcing themselves onto me with BT and DS.
They just don't like that you aren't going easy on them, that's it. They expect you to let them by at least for a bit if one of their teammates disconnects or messes up badly. No idea why, Survivors never slow down the pace of gen repairs, stop trying to flashlight save to let me get hooks or let me kill them at end game.
It's not all Survivors, but I've met so many Survivors over my years of playing that expect you to go easy on them when they wouldn't lift a finger to make your experience better. So if you choose not to go easy on them, you're a tryhard sweatlord. I'd just embrace it, you CANNOT please everyone, especially in DbD.
I do those things as survivor. :(
But yeah, I don’t expect my opponent to go easy on me in either role tbh. I expect survivors to “tryhard” and I expect killers to “tryhard”. If someone shows me mercy I appreciate it, but I don’t feel entitled to it.

I really don’t think Tinkerer on its own is an issue. Knowing a gen is about to pop doesn’t necessarily mean a whole lot, it’s really not that different from something like Discordance in terms of providing useful information with no requirement. Information is useful of course and can help you win the game, but not without a way to capitalise on it. A Trapper with Tinkerer and a bunch of other information perks isn’t going to be a threat to most decent survivors.
The issue with Tinkerer is how strongly it synergises with Ruin and Pop, and high mobility. If you can regress the gen just by running (or teleporting) to it and pushing the survivor off it, then the value of Tinkerer’s information is significantly higher. Ruin is the problematic perk, IMO.

I do to, but that doesn't mean you need to stoke the fires of someone who is frustrated.
Raging like that is still way healthier then keeping it bottled in and dealing with it in a healthy way is such a vague concept that very few people know for themself how to do it.
And while it certainly isn't 100% correct to rage at strangers it also isn't hard to just step away from a stranger raging at you over a video game and let them deal with their frustrations on their own way.
Bottling up feelings isn’t healthy, but I don’t think there’s any evidence to suggest that venting is actually good for people either. If anything, it makes things worse. You reinforce your own negative mindset, you feel bad for going off at people, and the more you do it the more it becomes an ingrained behaviour.
Personally I don’t care too much if people are salty in end game chat, but I don’t think we should pretend that it’s a healthy way to deal with negative feelings.
-
Yeah, this issue absolutely sucks, I had it today as well.
It’s been around for a long time so I no longer have any hope of it being fixed. Plague just feels really annoying to play for the most part, and they seem to have little interest in improving her.

These kind of games are really far few and between but occasionally I'll go against survivors playing trickster and the whole team just pre drops pallets on healthy states. Its super effective because I obviously can't keep pressure if I commit to the chases and the other 3 are just smashing gens. How do you counter this kind of play?
The only real counter is to play a killer that counters it with their power. Huntress, Nurse, Spirit for example. Some dropped pallets can be dealt with by Deathslinger or Trickster, but if it’s a long-ish high wall loop, probably not.
If you’re playing an M1 killer you can’t do a lot except be really efficient - zone them by breaking it on the better side, don’t commit for too long, try and create dead zones and push the survivors into them.
-
They’re baby survivors because there’s no matchmaking on the PTB. I don’t think killing rank 15s is much to brag about, tbh.

I usually run it on bubba just to see how many people try to sabotage the hooks. I'm not sure why it got changed tho.
People complained about the original version of Hangman’s being really weak and situational (which it was, in fairness). Almost nobody ran it except for when going for the Pig adept.
They then reworked the sabotaging mechanic, and reworked Hangman’s along with it, which made sense. Though on the PTB it was kind of stupid because it essentially gave you map-wide aura reading on some maps every time you picked up on a survivor; the range was a bit much. But they overnerfed it to where it is now, i.e. bad again.
-
- The total lack of QoL for solo survivors. They’ve made maybe one or two changes in the last 5 years to make solo survivor less bad, which is honestly pathetic. No, extremely poor effort things like adding a totem counter to Small Game aren’t a buff to solo queue.
- Most maps remain significantly unbalanced one way or another, mostly in favour of survivors. The fact that they updated the Coldwind maps and yet Cowshed remains as broken as ever is frankly sad. Haddonfield stays Haddonfield, which is just… lol.
-
If you’re playing on PC, do you have surround sound enabled? That really messes with the game’s sound, I made the mistake of turning it on once and generators became silent as soon as I turned away from them, even if they were 1 metre behind me.

If this list is from someone who's apparently new, why is Nurse #6 instead of dead last?
Cause he’s playing against survivors who are also new, where you can get hits without even needing to blink, lol.
-
It’s the tier list of someone who’s new to the game, so new that all of their killers are like level 10 and have 2 perks. It’s honestly kind of cute, it takes me back to when I was new and thought Myers was super OP. 😭
-
I’m guessing it has something to do with latency and the hit validation change. Since the server now checks for and validates stuns on the survivor side, it’s probably granting more stuns since you were close enough to get hit with the pallet on their screen. I’m far from an expert though so this is just my assumption.

So recently I’ve fallen back in love with DBD and that’s mainly thanks to playing killer. I may not get the 4K every game but I am having fun and that’s the main thing, however, I’ve finally come across the type of survivors I see killer mains complaining about and my question is just simply why are survivors like this?
I was doing an old archive challenge that made me play as Trapper, I’m not good at all with him, I hardly play him (I’m a Pig and Nemesis main) but I want to do all the challenges so I played as him. I was enjoying myself somewhat until the end.
I think I got like 1 hook but I wasn’t really bothered, more concerned about the challenge, didn’t help that the survivors brought me to RPD but that’s not what got me, what got me is this. They were all at the gate and they opened it, I thought okay fair enough they’re out, I’m just gonna let them waste their own time and I’ll just keep resetting traps for a few extra points, the survivors then proceeded to COME BACK and start trying to blind me and clicky click their flashlights.
i don’t usually complain about flashlights because during the game it’s understandable, annoying but I get it, but at the point of the gates being opened and all the survivors are there, the game is over and there’s no need for that crap.
Its honestly survivors like that, that ruin the game for everyone else.
They might be going for a “stun/blind the killer” Tome challenge. I’ve run back into a match before to blind the killer for a challenge, though I let them kill me afterwards as payment. Or they might just have been thirsty for blood points - if you only got one hook in the match they probably had very few boldness and altruism points.
Otherwise, idk. They wanted to brag and be ungracious winners I guess.

It appears there is some serious bias inside the dev team regarding killer vs survivor perks.
The norm for survivor perks is to either have an activation condition, an effect that's not terribly bad or good and a penalty for using the perk or just an effect that's bad so no one even uses the perk. Case in point, Deliverance. You have to earn the perk by performing a safe unhook, then you have to use it on your first hook state or it is lost and then you get punished for it. But why exactly? The perk is only useful is your team is potato enough and too scared to go for a rescue - a camping killer still negates the perk as they can down you instantly. Also, you still lose a hook state so it's not like it is a free escape like DS used to be.
I even remember a game designer talking about this perk and saying that "it is extremely situational" so restricting the perk heavily was always the intent. I could make a similar case for most of the perks released after the Huntress DLC, but I don't want to write a wall of text.
Then we have the norm for killer perks. No activation conditions, no drawbacks, powerful effects. For example, look at the new Deadlock perk. The killer doesn't have to do anything, it simply works out of a box, has a strong effect, has no activation condition, no penalty. You don't have to throw the entire game just to get it to proc and then get heavily punished(cough cough MOM cough cough)
Please do not misinterpret this topic as "please nerf Deadlock". NO, it should be read as "please stop being scared of survivor perks and actually create something fun/interesting/useful". Shake up the meta and the gameplay for both sides, not just one. Doesn't it bother you in the slightest that people still mainly use perks you created 4+ years ago?
There are plenty of killer perks that have requirements, long cooldowns, and/or weak effects. Look at perks like Dead Man’s Switch, Dragon’s Grip, Furtive Chase or Gearhead.
This is an issue that affects both sides and it probably stems from the fact that the first perks released were typically straightforward buffs to game mechanics, which will always be strong. Sprint quickly, heal faster, pick yourself up off the ground, etc. etc.
There are now 95 survivor perks and 84 killer perks in the game. After a while, perks start having to become more complicated or niche out of necessity.
Plus, a lot of the perks that have requirements, have them to balance the perk. Inner Strength requires a totem cleanse because without it, survivors could hop in lockers and heal over and over with no limit. Power Struggle requires wiggle progress or you would be safe any time you go down under a pallet. If Deliverance had no pre-requisite, you could just pull yourself off your first hook every time, which would be kind of ridiculous in a SWF.
So no, I don’t agree that there’s actually a double standard here at all.

Maybe it's just dumb ptb survivors, but I've seen them always instantly start to solve it.
Solving it almost guarantees that he’ll teleport to you and start a chase, and survivors usually want to experience the new killer and their power on the PTB. Plus nobody really gets how the power works on PTB at first. On live, they’ll probably (maybe) play it a bit smarter.

Survivors weren't getting robbed though. What was happening was survivors were pallet camping and getting punished for it. Now the exact opposite happens survivors pallet camp but don't give a ######### because the validation will save them.
No, survivors got robbed frequently. I don’t camp pallets as survivor, but I would run through the pallet, pull it down in plenty of time, see the pallet drop fully, get hit, then watch the killer get stunned. I was getting hit through pallets almost every single time even though I wasn’t greeding or camping them. It got to the point that I just stopped dropping pallets almost entirely because dropping a pallet almost guaranteed me getting hit, despite having a very stable connection and ping of less than 30.
Now I can actually use pallets as intended. If I drop it in time, I get the stun and don’t get hit. If I drop it late, I get hit.

Deadlock is super interesting as a slowdown perk.
It full well might be a tournament meta perk. But the interesting thing is the perk scales with how good the survivors are, and functions super differently than most slowdown perks.
Mainly, it 'normalizes' gen repair time, meaning it creates a more consistent window between repaired gens, but it can't actually do anything more than that: if you weren't already competing more than one gen every 45 seconds, it won't slow your team down nearly as much as say... Ruin or Pop, because it doesn't regress gens.
This means its going to be more impactful the better the enemy team is, and less impactful the worse they are, unlike say... Ruin where if your opponents are good it barely matters and if they are bad it is overwhelmingly strong.
The effect isn't that scary in terms of killer tempo when paired with corrupt. Yes, with corrupt it will result in 4 out of 6 gens being locked... for 20 seconds, at which point it goes back to 3 out of 6. This does mean there is a 20 second window where the killer has a smaller area to search if the survivors want to say on gens, but the impact there (in terms of the combo) is pretty low: It requires the killer to not be in chase for example. So with CI it is basically just... force adding 20 seconds to the game, which is worse than Old Ruin, or getting the killer their (ideally second) chase faster some of the time if the survivors stick to gens, which is still not a huge impact.
It just shuts down double pops is all and force adds 20 seconds (if that actually, it is technically possible to still double pop vs this just by having more than one gen within a few seconds of popping, so you can't brainlessly use this to hard camp even, as most camping scenarios either have just one person repairing still meaning this doesn't matter, or all 3 are meaning you only stop 1 gen from popping for 20 seconds, another 2 pop, and you will still lose by the end of the timer) to each pop if they would take less than 20. So... yeah... important in a tournament/SWF context, pretty trash in most others.
Yeah, I think it’s really interesting as a concept that it’s stronger against better opponents and less useful against survivors that aren’t as good. Probably won’t see much use by the lower ranks, but killers who don’t necessarily want to stack tons of slowdown but who want a defence against 3 survivors split on gens will probably find it useful.
I like the fact that the devs are designing perks like this and Lethal Pursuer, that allow you to maximise your efficiency and avoid getting rushed out with little way to stop it, rather than just straight slowdown. Killers want matches that last longer than 3 minutes and survivors hate perks that just elongate the action bar. It’s an interesting way to keep both sides happy.

You couldn't be more wrong. I play both sides, and this uis something I have observed over my time playing it. Survivors play better than the killer and win in five minutes, they pip and the killer depips. The killer plays better and kills everyone in five minutes, they still depip. Don't you say thats kinda stupid? Or are you biased into beliving it is somehow fair to punish someone for plying better.
Do people really care about pips? I thought it was only new players who want the rank 1 achievements that were bothered.

That would be stupidly strong, lol. Imagine survivors trying to do gens against a vaguely competent mobility killer like Blight if basekit Ruin was in the game and there was no way to disable it.
It’s a terrible idea. Ruin is already one of the strongest and most commonly used perks in the game, buffing it and making it basekit would be ludicrous.

It doesn't bother me. I'm a firm believer of each player playing how they like. If the killer wants to tunnel/camp, let them do so because there are ways to punish that. I don't believe for a second that I tunnelled, I just capitalised on survivor misplays.
My point was more why everything is always the killers fault whenever survivors don't enjoy their match. There's a list of excuses that survivors have ready to throw at the killer, yet as far as I'm aware, there's not a single trait that survivors would agree that killers can accuse survivors of.
"Gen rush" - nope, that's just survivors doing the objective
"BM with flash-lights" - that's just distracting killer away from gens so others can complete them
"Abusing DS" - same as above, wasting killer's time so rest of the team completes objectives
My point was more about the dichotomy here, where the killer is expected to "play fair"... according to the survivor, yet the survivors will never give the killer any reprieve if they're having a difficult game. I've played 1000's of matches as killer, and I've never once experienced a scenario where the survivors looped me the whole game, and then at the end let me get a couple of hooks for free for the sake of BBQ points or whatever. It's mostly been t-bagging and insulted in chat after.
But if the survivors misplay and die for avoidable reasons, then it's the killer's fault for taking advantage, and somehow they're a newb for taking the easy option instead of tying up their hands further and going for the more difficult option, and ensuring the survivors have a fun game. Like, why do they put that on the killer to give the survivors a fun game when it's never the reverse?
It's double-standards, and I would love for survivors to start recognising this BS and changing their mindset accordingly. But then I think I've got better chance of BHVR fixing bugs than for that to happen.
Because you’re the big, fast, supernaturally powered monster that keeps trying to kill them? By playing the match you are actively trying to remove them from it, why are you surprised that they blame you and your actions when they die? Ideally survivors would keep their salt to themselves, but that’s never gonna happen. If you don’t want people to get mad at you for killing them in the game, either turn off chat or play something else. You can guarantee that you’ll get salt from other players if you play a PvP game, especially one with a small lobby.
What do you expect them to do, really? Thank you for killing them quickly? I’ve never had a killer compliment me for a 4 minute chase and an easy escape either, and I wouldn’t expect them to.
-
You’re asking the DBD community not to run a cringey joke into the ground? Don’t let Nea the Entity hear you say that or she’ll make you boop the snoot.
-
It was designed to cause suffering to almost everyone equally. I don’t mind it if I’m playing Wraith or Hag, but any other killer or survivor and I want to throw my mouse through a window.
-
She was upset because she had a frustrating match. You’re her opponent and the person who hooked her three times in a row so of course she’d blame you.
Why even let it bother you? If you feel good about how you played and that you didn’t tunnel then it’s irrelevant what she says. If you feel that tunnelling is fine and you like doing it then, again, what she says is irrelevant. You won’t convince a person who’s salty after a bad match that you’re not responsible for their bad feelings, so just ignore it and move on.

Yes, it rarely happens. But people always instantly jump to the VPN conclusion. Thats why i asked.
The weirdest match i had, was against survivors from: USA, Russia, Thailand and Japan. All in the same lobby. While i sit in Europe.
I think people jump to that conclusion because VPNs are a very easy to use, easily accessible way of hopping servers and plenty of people admit to using them. It’s probably more likely that people are using VPNs than that multiple people keep getting connected to the wrong server by accident - and they just so happen to be almost all killer players on PC. If it was coincidental, you’d expect OP would keep seeing Chinese survivors or console killers as well.
Russian players are always connected to EU because there are no Russian servers, unfortunately. :( But yeah, the rest of those are very weird! I think the furthest server I ever connected to was Mumbai, and I was playing survivor so that was a painful match, lol.
-
BNPs are most problematic if they’re stacked. A team of 4 with good toolboxes, BNPs and Prove Thyself can end the match insanely fast. But a team of 4 stacking anything kind of breaks balance a bit, so I don’t think nerfing BNPs would address the real problem there.
That said, if they were nerfed or removed I wouldn’t be upset because I don’t think that kind of add on design is very healthy or good for the game. Delete BNPs, and then delete all killer cooldown/recovery add ons as well. 🙂
Syringes are fine IMO, they heal one health state in the time it would take to heal anyway, they eat the medkit, they can be denied altogether if you spot their use and counter it. I think they’re mostly balanced and really not game-changing in 99% of cases. Good, but not unfair.
-
- No DC penalty on the PTB.
- No progress on the PTB so losing bloodpoints or pips is even more irrelevant than usual.
- Most people don’t care about winning because it’s just a place to test new stuff and find bugs.
- Survivor queues are instant and killer queues are long so they can get in the next match almost immediately.
I think it’s dumb to dc on the PTB, game-breaking bugs notwithstanding, but the PTB is hugely chaotic anyway. I know killer queues are long which makes it annoying, but at least you didn’t actually lose anything - none of it carries over and you get to test stuff before they dc so the match basically served its purpose.
-
@Tsulan said:
Are you absolutely sure, that the killers are using VPNs?
Because sometimes, the matchmaking matches me with people from a different continent. Where some people have a ping of 200+. I doubt they do that intentionally.
There’s no real way to prove VPN use for any individual, but there are people who admit to using a VPN to connect to different servers “for shorter queues” (whether that’s the real reason or not, who knows).
I’ve been connected to far away servers in the past where I had a ping of nearly 200 when I usually get <30, so I agree it does happen. It’s not super common though and you can just dodge that lobby when you notice your ping.
-
It’s the worst chat filter I’ve ever seen. It censors completely innocuous words and allows offensive stuff.
I don’t understand why they don’t just use it to block slurs, and insults like the C bomb, or the F word, and then leave it off for anything else. Maybe block certain strings of words like “#########” or whatever. But why the ######### would a chat filter censor my use of the word “you” in a totally inoffensive sentence, or even in-game stuff like Hawkins or Yun-Jin? It’s totally counterproductive.
-
The word “you” was censored in the phrase “you guys”. 🙃
-
Are you asking if 248 survivors are representative of a playerbase of over 100,000 people? Then no.
Are you asking if survivors who show sportsmanship exist? Yes, they do, I've faced some personally.
Are you asking why those particular survivors BMed you when you showed them mercy? There are a lot of possible reasons. Teabagging isn't always intended as BM, plenty of survivors teabag other survivors as a light-hearted form of communication so maybe the survivors didn't intend to offend you. Maybe they thought you were messing around and not playing seriously, so they also started messing around and goofing off, again not realising they were offending you. Maybe they thought you were really bad and therefore they were no longer scared of you and BMed you mercilessly because they suddenly felt they had power. Maybe they played against a BMing killer in their last match so they BMed you as some misguided form of revenge. Maybe they waited in the gate because they thought you might have NOED and wanted you to hit them out so their teammates would know if you had it or not. Maybe you're just surrounded by irredeemable douchebags who will BM anyone for any tiny reason.
People ascribe negative intentions to other people in this game all the time, but I think a lot of it is just miscommunication since there's no way to signal your intentions in game. If a killer drops me on hatch and I teabag before I jump in, I may have intended it as a thank you curtsey and they may take it as being rude and ungrateful. I'd just try not to assume the worst of other people or get too hung up on in-game stuff like a flashlight click. The other day I played against a streamer who thought I was "salty" in end game chat, when from my side I wasn't salty at all, I just answered a question he asked and wasn't complaining or being negative in the slightest. I've also had killers see me teabag another survivor and get mad that I BMed them, when I didn't even realise they were there.
I've also had killers get annoyed at survivors dropping items before they leave, when I always considered that a sign of sportsmanship. Unfortunately, what's considered sportsmanlike and what's considered BM differs from person to person.

It takes a long time to get to EW3. If you can hide behind LOS and focus on gens, there's a good chance that you can do all 5 gens before he pops (happened a few times for me on certain maps). Big maps in general are a nightmare for him.
EW3 is hard, but he's essentially weaker for 70% of the match.
When I run EW3, I need Corrupt Intervention, Whispers, Discordance, and BBQ just to keep finding survivors to rank up, but ensure there's enough time to not get gen rushed.
Eh, it depends on the map really. On a smaller and more open map like Dead Dawg or Coal Tower, getting to tier 3 is trivially easy. On a map like Mother’s Dwelling you’ll struggle more because of the size, and on a map like Lery’s you’ll struggle more because keeping LoS is a pain.
Perma tier 3 was obviously designed around the old maps with more pallets and stronger windows. On maps with fewer (and/or less safe) pallets, it’s pretty easy to 4k with it. Especially considering how many slowdown perks are in the game now. Stack slowdowns and run a map offering and you can 4k every game without even trying that hard.

Sadly, the "us vs. them" posts are quite frequent here. As if all those toxic survivors never played killer or vice versa.
"Survivors" are players. "Killers" are players. And toxic players will be toxic, no matter what role they play.
I've had SWF mock my rank 16 potato Huntress, and I've also had SWF help me make a couple of extra BPs with my baby Trapper with tier 1 perks.
I also faced killers that would slug a team and walk around us nodding until we died and other killers that would farm with us when someone ragequitted.
If we only focus on the negative side of the player base we're missing out on the majority of people that play just to have fun.
Yep. It gets really old seeing the “survivor bad” circlejerk, there are of course toxic survivor players but there are also some really sweet ones, and I have plenty of screenshots of killer players calling survivor players slurs, telling them to die, etc. I’ve been slugged and teabagged on the ground for the full bleed out timer… at least survivors teabagging don’t time you out from the game, it’s just annoying.
There are unpleasant jerks playing this game, for sure. But there are some really nice people who will say gg and wish you luck in your next match, or compliment you, or help you farm a challenge you’re obviously trying to do. I wish people shared those stories more.
Yesterday I had a rainbow rank lobby and in the end game chat, the killer and one of the low ranked survivors were SO sweet it was amazing. Complimenting everyone, helping each other with advice on challenges they were trying to do, I think they even added each other so they could play together later. Almost like they saw each other as people and not part of some enemy tribe.

Actually it is. Netflix holds the rights to the likeness of steve, nancy, and demo, and to the hawkins name and likeness. The layout of the map was made by behavior and they retain the rights to it. They could absolutely reskin the map itself and release it again. Netflix doesn't own a series of hallways, pallet locations, locker locations, vault windows, etc. That's why they're making generic versions of the perks to put in the shrine, the perks are property of behavior, they just can't infringe upon the netflix copyright of steve, nancy, and demo's faces
They’d have to do more than just change a few textures to remove the Stranger Things associations from the map. Netflix doesn’t own a series of hallways with pallets, but if they’re going to boil down the map to “a series of hallways with pallets” and rebuild it from there, why wouldn’t they just make a new map? It would probably be the same amount of work but less hassle, they wouldn’t have to worry about legal issues, or souring a relationship with a major international company.
Behaviour already settled a copyright lawsuit with Bethesda a couple of years back so I’m sure they’ve had advice on where the lines are legally. It’s also very likely to be something that was covered in their licensing agreement.

I’m much happier playing solo survivor with it off. Went from Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer every match with killers who would camp their first catch and then immediately tunnel off hook, which may be understandable but absolutely killed my desire to keep playing. I’m back to running meme builds again and I’ve faced killers running all kinds of dumb perks - I actually played against someone running Cruel Limits, lmao. Teammates are a little more green (literally, a lot of green and yellow rank teammates) but they’re all sweet in end game chat and saving me from the hook so I can’t ask for much more.
As killer I don’t know, I usually get a decent number of good teams with map offerings and MMR didn’t seem too different. A little easier, maybe. I don’t think my killer MMR is super high though since I almost always let one person escape.
I think this experiment taught me that I don’t actually want MMR in the game. I had an open mind about it before but I think if it comes, I’ll have to stop playing DBD because it’s unbearably unfun when it’s that sweaty. Maybe if I were in a 4 man I’d think differently but I just found it dull and frustrating. The unpredictability of the game is half the fun for me, it seems.

That's not the point and it's not about the purchase. What's so hard to understand? Listen, did they never intended to make ST dlc to be always in the store? Was that something they have already planned? Because if it's so, they need to be clear about it. And yes, it does affect you. Does that mean that some characters will be available only "in seasons" like For Honor? And yes, there are "season licensed characters" in many games such as Fortnite so yes, you have the right to know if the characters do stay in-game as supposed as in this was just a license issue or as "this was something intentional"? Because if they're going to start seasonal characters that means people need to be aware that certain character won't be always available on-store... so when you purchase/don't purchase a character, you know that siad purchase will still be available as within the game or it will be available just for a few months/years.
They’re not going to reveal the terms and conditions of their licensing agreements to the general public. It doesn’t matter what justified reason you think you have for knowing it, it will not be revealed because it would be detrimental to their business to share it.
“Yeah we made an agreement with Netflix but just for two years” - now imagine a different license holder, say Konami, sees this and it’s different from the terms they agreed to, which sours the relationship. Why would any business potentially sabotage itself in this way?

Thanks, I read EULA. Its not the problem. I know it's may occur. The fact is BHVR failed to negotiate to keep the map. Whereas until now they seemed in a strong position compared to licensed content. Also the fact that they don't seem to want to tweak the map to at least keep the layout shows that they are a bit caught off guard, and that all the work done on the map will be lost.
As a player, you can be happy or unhappy that this content is lost or not, it depends on whether you like the map or not, but from a more external point of view, it remains a hell of a confession of weakness for BHVR, even I'm sure they did the best they could.
Negotiations require two parties to come to an agreement. Putting the blame on Behaviour when none of us have any information about why the licensing agreement is ending is unfair. For all we know, Netflix ended the contract with no room for discussion.
If they “tweak” the map they’ll get sued by Netflix, lol. They can’t just keep the map and give it a new lick of paint, that isn’t how copyright works.

The problem is, we are losing existing content. And that this content that I thought I could definitely have is actually conditional. It means that some killers, survivors, and therefore their perks, could no longer be accessible, and especially that some maps may simply disappear. It makes me really not very confident for the next years of DBD, because possibly, other content could disappear.
This has always been the case though. Licensed content in particular is always potentially subject to issues later down the line, which is why many of us prefer original content.
Not to sound patronising, but you should read the EULA sometime because it’s spelled out very clearly. Specifically this part: “BHVR has the absolute right to regulate, discontinue, update, modify or eliminate any Virtual Goods at any time”.

I’m having way more fun with it off, personally. I can run fun perks again, no more DS, no more exhaustion perk, no more Ruindying, just sweet sweet Any Means Necessary, Inner Strength and Surge. Feels good.

Hawkins is gone! (in November) 🦀 🦀 🦀
-
I’m not too worried about most of the other licenses, personally. Saw, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, Silent Hill and Resident Evil - all horror-specific, and less mainstream and (for lack of a better word) “normie” than Stranger Things.
Stranger Things was always kind of an anomaly. Most of the other licenses are a bit more old school; the only ones still actively releasing popular movies/games are Halloween, Resident Evil and I guess Saw. But I’d be surprised if they have people beating down their doors for licensing deals. Maybe RE.
-
Are people really that eager to keep Hawkins? I don’t dislike it as much as I used to but still wouldn’t consider it a particularly good map, outside the Stranger Things references.

Surely extending the license is more money for Netflix?
Depends on what agreement they have and how many people buy ST content in DBD.
Remember, Stranger Things also has cosmetics in games like Fortnite, and the money a game like that rakes in will dwarf what DBD makes.
