The killer being undetectable doesn't stop Blight from making noises when he slams into walls or prevent you from seeing the blight heading towards your direction. Or you can run Spine Chill to know when the killer is looking at your direction without needing to pay attention to your surroundings.

I’m not talking about gen grabs, obviously you can hear him when he’s close but that gives you a lot less time to react to his approach than the terror radius would. Which is the point of Tinkerer granting the Undetectable status effect, surely? It cuts down significantly on the head start a survivor can get.

Spine Chill is a good pick against Tinkerer but unfortunately I don’t have space for it in my build because I have to just run BT to help my team against campers, just run Kindred to allow some coordination when saving, just run DS so I don’t get tunnelled off hook, just run an exhaustion perk to allow me to survive longer against killers with strong chase powers, just run Iron Will to counter Spirit, just run Small Game/Detective’s/Counterforce to cleanse totems, just run Unbreakable so I don’t get slugged, just run Bond so I don’t lead the killer to my teammates on gens… I’m sure you get my point.

or would it be better to

    A: reduce the cooldown a bit? (25%-ish)

B: have it just effect all gens?

should this have been a poll?

    thoughts?

They just need to reduce the cooldown IMO, it’s really long for how not strong the perk is.

There's no reason Tinker needs to be limited in how times it can proc. If the killer can regress a gen below 70% they should be able to get their perk to proc again.

And so what if a blight is running to every gen that procs tinkerer? They are dropping chases and not getting downs if they can do that. Which survivors can counter by splitting up and forcing multiple tinkerer procs since the blight will have to give up gens since even with his mobility it's impossible for him to stop 3 gens at once.

If you are having an issue with Tinkerer + Ruin, find the totem since manually kicking to get gens below 70% takes quite a while and wastes the killer time if a survivor stops the regression before it gets below 70%. Pop only works on a single gen at a time and only gets good value if the killer is getting quick downs.

What’s the problem with Blight going from gen to gen? You mean other than tons of regression with Ruin, the Undetectable status granting quick hits, he gets a dropped pallet here and a dropped pallet there which makes the gens much less safe for next time Tinkerer goes off, and he can pick the gens he wants to defend and just let go of any far gens and keep regressing close gens over and over, dragging the game out for a long time.

It’s funny that you think most Blights aren’t just running Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer/Pop, lol. So survivors have to hunt and cleanse totems, then once they’re gone and the survivors have taken hits and hook states and there are few pallets left the Blight can just Pop gens over and over.

So all you have to do is just find and cleanse totems, split up on gens, know where the killer is at all times and don’t go down. Easy when you play solo and have no way to coordinate with your teammates of course.

  • Make it so that Tinkerer doesn’t proc over and over again on every gen unlimited times with no prerequisite, I guess? Maybe a small cooldown (and I mean small, nowhere near other killer perk cooldowns). That wouldn’t affect lower mobility killers much since they can only get to one gen at a time anyway, but would stop a killer like Blight from going gen to gen every time the perk lights up.

That's my point. Causing bleed out was called scummy. But somehow tbagging the exit gates when they can end it and leave is not. When it's just as scummy.

Yet it never fails any match they manage to get the gate open. Those are the same folks who will berate you if you waste THEIR time by bleeding them out. But are perfectly ok with wasting mine.

YOU are the one who brought up survivors teabagging in the gate, it has nothing to do with the topic and nobody here has said it isn’t obnoxious behaviour to do it. Stop derailing the thread and take your unrelated grievances elsewhere, please.

Only changing when people complain =/= change everything people complain about.

So it doesnt go against the theory, because those things are simply not the same.

He is still wrong, though, your argument just is flawed.

Specifically not changing some of the things that have been complained about, LOUDLY, consistently, for years, is not the same as “not changing everything that is complained about”. Of course they can’t change everything that’s complained about, they wouldn’t have enough hours in the day. But if the OP really believes their theory that the devs just change stuff based on what the community doesn’t like, they’ll have a considered argument for why some of the most high profile complaints have not been addressed, and why the devs change things nobody complains about ever.

  • @CornHub said:

Im not trying to make a "complain about survivor complaints" thread #2839, I'm being genuine. I understand in all 3 circumstances you're being limited to how you can play the game which sucks & they have every right to be annoyed, BUT there's way more instances where you can be saved & escape if you're slugged vs. being camped & tunneled.

I'm trying to be careful with my wording here, but I'm not trying to accuse or shame anyone for how they play or what they find annoying in game.

I'm most-likely missing something, but what makes being slugged CONSIDERED equally as bad & equally considered as cheap a tactic like camping & slugging?

Slugging is fine when it’s done in the course of a normal match IMO. Like, if there were flashlights in the lobby, I expect to be slugged for a little bit while the killer checks around. Or if you get unsafely unhooked and the killer slaps you down to avoid DS, or if they see someone working on a gen near where you went down, or that kind of thing. That’s just playing efficiently and I don’t think anyone should really complain about it.

I do think slugging is problematic when it’s a killer like Nurse or Twins who intends to slug the entire match, and whose kit makes it a strong choice. Or if the killer runs a dedicated slugging build with the intention of never hooking until they have all 4 survivors down.

Why? Because it’s a strat that is WAY stronger against solo survivors. There’s no good way to deal with it if you’re not on comms, so you end up spending minutes at a time eating dirt, unable to do anything. It’s extremely annoying. You know that if you had even one friend on comms with you you’d be fine but you don’t, and your teammates have no idea what’s happening, so you just have to lie there like a naughty child in time out, and the reason for your punishment is because you’re playing the game solo. Feels great. 🙃

Its just one of many things in the game that is not balanced around the SWF/solo information gap. And I don’t think the devs will ever even try to fix it, so expect people to keep being sore about it.

  • @Nicholas said:

Yes same, was wondering if pallet validation has been canceled or adjusted. Back to getting hit and seeing super laggy killers. My ping in the lobby is usually 16-37ms.

I’m pretty sure they removed (or heavily relaxed) the pallet stun validation as well, because I’m back to getting hit when I shouldn’t be and getting hits I shouldn’t get.

I'm not a new player as you assume. It's obviously that they change things in game because a lot of people are complaining. That's all I had to say.

Then why has NOED remained unchanged for years, despite being complained about on a daily basis? Sort of goes against your theory that they only change things because people complain.

  • @Bennett_They1Them said:

The Twins are regarded as a camping killer, which no one likes going agains, and this reputation causes a feedback loop.

Here's my suggestion for fixing this and encouraging a tag-team playstyle instead:

-Victor can Pounce after 0.85 seconds of charging.

-Victor's Pounce cooldown is 5 seconds on a miss, and 3 if you hit, to avoid encouraging bad play.

-Switching to Victor takes 1 second and switching to Charlotte takes 1.5 seconds.

-The "When Victor is removed" add ons should also apply their debuffs while he's attached.

-Toy Sword becoming the only exception, now inflicting "Deep wound" when Victor is removed.

-"Sewer Sludge" instead lets Charlotte move 15% faster for 10s after regaining control.

    - If a survivor is placed on a hook while Victor is within the range you couldn't normally deploy him near an occupied hook, he immediately regrows on Charlotte.

    Thoughts?

I don’t think this would do anything to address why the people who hate them hate them, tbh.

I'm a red ranked killer and when ever I get a game where the survivors all escape and I got like 6 hooks I get extremely sad and angry at myself which might just be me but regardless.

Does any body have any mental tips to visualize losses less negative in the mind to feel less bad!

Sometimes just putting things into perspective is all you need. This is a PvP game, so someone has to lose every single match. Sometimes it will be you, even if you play super well. Most people who play have no idea who you are and will forget that they played against you, so nobody really cares if you lose, and certainly not as much as you do. Think about how many matches of DBD will be played in a given day and realise how little that one match you lost actually represents.

Losing is unavoidable, and in many ways necessary. If nothing else, you can always learn something from your losses.

  • It would be an interesting perk in terms of how it would affect survivor behaviour. It would be funny to run it with no hexes to try and make survivors think you have NOED or a hidden Devour. Or if you ran Haunted, running it to encourage them to cleanse those totems later in the match.

I don’t know whether it would be used a lot or not, though. It would probably just always be paired with Ruin and never run otherwise.

  • Just nerf all perks to the level of Brutal Strength - nice to have but not game changing. Then you’d see more variety and maybe people would stop complaining about how perks are all OP no skill easy win buttons all the damn time.

  • @agonizing said:

I wish I had the option to just drop whatever bloodpoints I currently have for them to immediately level up the bloodweb for me.

I wouldn’t trust a DBD algorithm to determine a “most desirable perk” for me, not gonna lie. :D

Of course not. But survivors being able to run a very experienced killer for that amount of time, shows how bad pallet placement is and THIS is an indication of the balance.

No, it isn’t. He was playing pure M1 Trapper against very experienced survivors on one of the most survivor-sided maps in the game in conditions that do not occur in a normal match, ever. It was purely for entertainment value and says as much about balance as his multiple 50 win streak videos: nothing.

I thought my job was to appease the Entity with a 4k?

I’ve literally never had a survivor get mad at me for not giving them hatch and I’ve been playing DBD since 2018, so I couldn’t possibly tell you.

You mean that video where survivor streamers ran him between 2 and 4 minutes? Yep, looks balanced. Especially since all gens can be completed in less than 4 minutes.

The 1v1 video? 1v1s are not a good indicator of overall game balance for multiple reasons that should be obvious.

  • I do this. But most killers I try to give kills to won’t accept it, and just carry me to the open gate.

  • Dead Dawg used to be my go to for a challenge like this, since it’s a map offering that has a lot of drops but that doesn’t piss off killers, but since it’s disabled at the minute it’s a bit harder.

Hills don’t count so it needs to be something higher than that. Drops from buildings are probably your best bet, or maps with two floors like Midwich.

If they’re not good, as you’re implying, catching and killing them should be easy enough. Can’t do gens if they’re dead.

  • Frosty eyes killers have NOED. Always true.

That whole stereotype of a Claudette hiding in a bush and then saying “doing gens, you?” in end game is true 95% of the time. They’re useless, but brag about getting more points than anyone else because they spent 5 minutes farming BP with Self Care and opening chests in the basement. The other 5% of Claudettes are borderline toxic looping gods who’ve been playing since the game launched.

Pig mains are either the sweetest people, or angry, basement dwelling incel weirdoes who probably collect human body parts. I’ve never seen any in between.

Ashes are always jackasses for absolutely no reason.

And the newest character stereotype I’ve seen is Leon. Every single Leon I’ve played with or against has been boosted beyond belief and they make the dumbest play possible in every situation, so I mistrust them all on sight now.

  • @PhantomChimera said:

I just had another survivor use it to to no avail. I know many say it is one of the best perks however I can't think of the last time someone successfully escaped me after using it. If the killer uses something that causes the exhausted effect it is completely useless.

Maybe it is because I generally get survivors in the green and purple ranks. Are red ranks that much better at using it and escaping a chase?

Because it can be used mid-chase to good effect, it allows you to try cheeky/greedy strats like baiting swings, and when it works it feels pretty fun. Compare that to other exhaustion perks which are basically all about allowing you to hold W to get away, and it feels more dynamic and interesting to use. Plus it’s especially good against the strongest killers (Nurse, Blight, Spirit).

  • @Sluzzy said:

I am convinced he somehow is ignored because of all the newbies playing him is lowering his performance on the charts. Or perhaps he is ignored regardless. Of how often he is played and the many complaints he is receiving and there’s nothing being done. The way Blight plays with the same boring perk build that totally suppresses survivors, there is absolutely no opportunity to escape. The learning curve is too small and Blights are overpowered.

Survivors are nerfed when it is unfun or perceived too strong when killers “say so”. It is time this killer is nerfed and not ignored. Not talking about adding a millisecond to his recharge time.  I’m tired of playing him 9 out of 10 times in a sweaty red rank mode and have zero chances of escaping. Ruin, Tinkerer, POP, BBQ is ignored and needs looked into. Too many slowdown and tracking perks on these killers that can be everywhere with no cooldowns.

He has no cooldown after traveling completely across the map. He instantly moves at full 4.6 speed. How is that balanced? Tinkerer told him where to go. Blight needs a nerf and those perks because they are a huge problem. He shouldn’t regain his stacks almost instantly, and have much more penalty for using his power. It is too oppressive.

Blight is OK. He needs a couple of add ons nerfing in my opinion, but I don’t think his base kit is a problem at all. The real issue is the weakness and lack of coordination of solo survivor, that’s what should be addressed.

  • Same place all the old “nerf DS” threads went. People stopped seeing the thing they hated every other game, so they stop complaining about it.

  • I tend to agree. Dead Hard is definitely an ANNOYING perk to play against at times, because it feels really bad to be within striking distance of a survivor and yet not be able to hit them before they reach a pallet/window. But yeah, people over-state it.

Sprint Burst is a far stronger perk, it’s just less fun to use than Dead Hard and encourages the killer to not chase you in the first place so less people use it.

  • Yes, definitely! I always do noticeably worse when I play Jane or Adam, and I play better with Claudette, Dwight, Ace and Zarina. I have no idea why.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

This is less of a Bubba issue and more of an Insidious + Basement issue.

Believe me, if any other killer decided to Insidious camp, particularly someone like Billy, Huntress, or Pyramid Head, the results would be the same.

It’s definitely a Bubba issue. He doesn’t even need Insidious + basement, you can camp most hooks as Bubba pretty easily. Hill hooks are super easy to camp, plus any hooks in the open. You might struggle with jungle gym hooks if the survivors are coordinated but if you go in intending to camp you can just avoid them.

Other killers can Insidious camp basement but you have more of a chance against them. I’d say the only killer who can do it as effectively as Bubba is a Myers with a 99d tier 3.

  • Sounds like you’re burned out and frustrated and taking a break is probably the smart choice. No shame in taking a break from DBD, it’s a regular occurrence for many of us. :)

You and I must be playing completely different games if you think Plague feels bad to play as and against. Also I play her a ton.

Probably just that wacky thing they call a difference of opinion.

  • Sure is. I always report them when I see them (for “refusing to engage in normal play” or whatever it’s called) but I doubt they ever get banned for it.

  • Spirit - hated by many, buggy, just kind of a mess all around.

Plague - who? Does anyone play her? She feels bad to play and bad to face.

Twins - combination of the above, both hated by many and rarely played. Back to the drawing board with this one.

  • Check the end game screen and you’ll probably see it was a Wraith. They cloak, stand in a corner and let the match play out so they can derank.

  • I don’t think this would fix anything. Only anecdotal, but every cheater I’ve faced has had a clean profile with a bio that says something along the lines of “Report me if you want, this is my 6th account”. LOL.

Yeah, probably some will. But some people will hate you for running or doing anything. While it’s nice to be considerate of other people’s enjoyment, it only really goes so far because people in this community will ######### at you for literally anything.

Well, predominantly-survivor players do make up the majority of the playerbase. I know for a fact on PS4 only 30% of players have ever gotten a 4K, which is very sad to look at. Basic business sense suggests BHVR should favour the side with the most players.

Except that both sides are required to sustain the game. If they really did only care about survivors they’d dramatically reduce the number of people willing to play killer, which would inflate survivor queues to the point of killing the game.

You can see from the game’s balance history that the devs clearly want both sides to be as happy as is reasonable and practicable.

  • @ZaroktheImmortal said:

I had one a bit back where a survivor was waiting for me to show up near the hatch probably to show off before they jump in while I was playing Spirit. So I phased over to the hatch quickly shut it and well at this point they were screwed.

Reminds me of the time I was playing Claudette, we’d done all the gens and opened the gates and I was perched right at the edge of the exit, healing myself before I escaped. The Spirit phases, appears right next to me, smacks me, and Claudette does this insane backflip… further back into the map. The Spirit picked me up before I could crawl out and hooked me, killing me.

They probably thought I was being cocky, but I was just trying to finish my “deplete medkits” challenge honestly. And I wasn’t even mad, I laughed about that backflip for a good 10 minutes, lmao. I can still picture it in my mind’s eye and it makes me laugh every time.

But to answer the question, yes, all the time. Especially when I play Trapper. It’s like survivors see him, assume it will be an easy game, and switch their brains off.

  • I think it’s moreso about efficiency than just pure mobility, otherwise Wraith and Billy would be S tier.

The top killers are all able to get around the map, but they’re also not looped in the traditional way and they therefore have higher lethality than lower tier killers. Someone like Nurse who can get a hook quickly and then traverse the map to immediately apply more pressure is always going to be strong. Same with Spirit. If they only had chase or only had mobility they wouldn’t be as highly regarded, but because they have both they’re very efficient. The combination is what makes them strong, IMO.

Checked the tome earlier and it said 29 minutes left. Now it's been at 1 minute left for over 20 minutes. Is the timer simply set wrong and the challenges actually release on the next hour or is it bugged?

You have to restart your game.

So the opposing side can try harder against you. If you're a masochist it's perfect if you're not then skip it. No really wearing default skins is such a better gaming experience.

Or you can go for the ultimate mindgame of default skin and frosty eyes. Survivors waste time cleansing dull totems to prevent your nonexistent NOED. :D

  • I’ll try early in the match. Once it gets to a point where the match is clearly lost and totally unenjoyable then I’ll peace out on hook. But I always give it a shot, sometimes a bad start can be recovered but you can’t really recover from a bad start and a bad middle, lmao.

  • You say this like PC killers never got spun by PC survivors before crossplay happened.

  • I dunno, Blight is a strong and versatile enough killer that I prefer to run other stuff on him. Of course that build is good but it feels like playing with the difficulty turned down, I’d rather play slightly tougher games and get better in the long run than get carried by a low effort build. Same reason I don’t run full meta on survivor, either.

  • They most likely want easy points/emblems/challenges, and don’t care how annoying it is for anyone else.

I hate this kind of survivor more than any other and will tunnel them to death if I see one when playing killer.

  • They promised an “optimisation PASS” to help console players in December 2018 and performance has remained dogshit on consoles to this day, so I wouldn’t hold your breath.

  • @gatsby said:

No matter how well you play, there are points where game mechanics take over and decide outcomes for you.

DBD isn’t a competitive game and sometimes expression of skill just isn’t possible. That doesn’t make you bad its just the game design.

When game changing plays happen due to a perk, I don’t get mad. I just think to myself “ok then” and just move on.

I kind of agree. A one time use perk like Unbreakable or Blood Warden can completely swing the match if the circumstances come together just right. (And please don’t think I’m comparing those perks to each other, I’m not. They’re just random examples.)

But for the most part, I think playstyle and adaptability are the biggest factors. So many people are unable to adapt their tactics when playing the game. Sometimes, immediately healing under the hook after a save is a smart play, and sometimes it’s a death sentence (looking at you, Wraith players). Some survivors make their perks obvious and playing around them can win you the match. Sometimes you have to adapt what you do to the map you get.

I will say though, once I accepted that this game is HUGELY influenced by RNG, I got a lot less mad at it. Unlucky totem spawn? Oh well. Unlucky map? Just gotta make the best of it. I may have to deal with bullshit this match, and someone else will have to deal with bullshit the next match. Que sera, sera.

From personal experience the most notorious tunnelers are Nemesis players. I don't know why. There's nothing about his power that encourages tunneling. But for some reason they are the worst for it.

With Nemesis, I guess they want to go for someone that’s already infected and injured since it’s probably a quick down. If they go for a fresh survivor, they’ll probably hit them 3 times before they get another hook because a lot of Nemesis players are M2 only (even though it’s pretty inefficient to do that the whole match).

I never understood why so many Nemesises are such committed tunnellers until I played him a bit more. I still think it’s dumb and annoying, but I at least get why now.

My thoughts are the only people who don't want it are the types who tryhard and want their opponents to be their punching bags. Otherwise, the experience is much better for literally everyone else. It can't come soon enough. The matchmaking as it is now is not good enough to be a joke.

That’s not a fair generalisation. I play solo survivor, with a build that’s typically Kindred, Windows of Opportunity, Any Means Necessary and a flex perk (usually running something for a Tome challenge). I don’t play to “tryhard” or treat others as punching bags in the slightest, and I don’t care about escaping (if I did why the hell would I play solo?). And during MMR all I got was killers running full meta, tunnelling the first hook they got, and then being toxic in end game.

As killer the MMR test was actually okay for me. But as survivor it was awful. It sucked every ounce of fun out of the game, and not because I couldn’t sweat against babies or escape every match. I play for fun, and often get myself killed for my teammates, or let the killer sacrifice me at the end of the match.

The MMR test just sucked for me. Instead of assuming everyone who didn’t like it is just mad because they won’t be able to pick on babies anymore, how about considering that there are people who had a different experience than you.

  • I think the petition is a good idea. Whether or not the solution he proposes (an optional quality setting) is something Behaviour is willing to do is another question entirely, but drawing attention to the issue can only be a good thing.
