  • Like everyone else has said, Pinhead is slightly less consistent in chase than Clown but makes up for it by having a secondary objective for survivors (the box) and the ability to teleport to start a new chase very quickly. I feel like the more obvious comparison is Freddy, not Clown.

  • You use it by pressing the appropriate button while you’re injured and running. It will cause you to do a dash forward. The button you press depends on which platform you’re playing on.

Did this ever happened to anyone else? In my 3 years of playing I only had one person complimenting the nea head I had. The only instance of someone commenting on my skins.

Is this a pc chat issue or another one of cornhub threads that really don't make much sense?

Weirdly, someone did say “no drip, your fit sucks” in the pre-game lobby earlier. I think that’s “cosmetic shaming” but I’m old so I could be wrong.

  • Dead Hard just straight up doesn’t work for dodging a hit most of the time. If you don’t use it for distance to make it safely to a pallet/window, you can’t use it at all. So if they’re gonna nerf it, they need to make it do something else first.

  • People have liked him since release basically, but he’s received a few QoL buffs in the last year so he feels easier and nicer to play now. He’s a killer with good mobility and a strong chase power and he synergises well with meta perks, so he’s definitely considered high tier by most people.

  • Yeah this “mechanic” is so dumb and really unfair. If you let go before the skillcheck has even appeared on your screen, you shouldn’t explode the gen. You can’t possibly play around it or account for it because it’s random and not possible for you to hit something that doesn’t exist yet. And sometimes you have to let go of a gen quickly to avoid being grabbed or insta downed.

Fair enough. I'm all for giving the new changes some time to sink in. Sounds like you are, too. Best of luck.

Honestly, same to you. I hope that SBMM turns out to be a great new feature that improves the game, even if there’s a bit of an adjustment period for it first. :)

Sorry, seems like maybe I just chose a poor post to reply to... It does sound like you're supporting people making negative feedback about a pretty big change after it's been live for an eyeblink based on what is fairly unknown information.

Maybe the past recording of information was not as pertinent as they thought and it DOES need some time to dial in. Who can say?

I'd say people's feedback will be more valuable in a few days, a week, a couple of weeks from now rather than having a hair-trigger response just because we assume the past data will give us perfect matches right out of the gate...

I think OP is posting against people who are obviously posting against MMR without any real experience of the live MMR that we're all part of now.

Maybe you shouldn’t assume what other people do or don’t support based on nothing? I’m not in favour of hair trigger reactions, I’m just pedantic. Which is why I replied to a comment and not the post itself, which I actually agree with.

Right, so if I have one bad match, then the whole system should be thrown out?

I'd have more respect for people's feedback in a few days when they can indicate how many matches they've played and why they think it's bad.

Posting 'MMR BAD' after 5 minutes means you did nothing and just wanted to post something useless.

For example, I actually heard @ScottJund in a video say '10 out of my last 14 matches as pinhead disconnected'. THis is actual value for something that is materially happening or people wouldn't be posting.. but when I see people posting something, and I'm not experiencing it, I'm sceptical if they're just spewing crap without any numbers. Sure, someone could just make up numbers... But that's just better lying. Having real meat behind your argument means it's worth more respect. "WAAAH X SUCKS" means nothing. Especially when you say it after only a few minutes without any kind of evidence.

Can you please tell me where I said anything about throwing the whole system out? I was disagreeing with someone’s claim that the system requires placement matches, not making any judgements about the system itself. I haven’t even had time to play a single match yet, I have no idea how good or bad it might be.

But the Data might not be accurate, because it was based on Rank-Matchmaking, not SBMM. So there will be cases where Killers and Survivors are ranked too high or too low.

Like, if I would jump into my Nurse right now, I can guarantee that I will get Baby Survivors, because I sucked hard against average Survivors.

True, there will definitely be an adjustment period because of how big of a mess the old ranking system made a lot of games. That’s not the same as placement matches, though.

  • @Hoodied said:

And people do need to remember that sbmm requires placement matches

Unless you have a legitimate source to prove otherwise, you’re wrong. They’ve been gathering data for this. Nobody is starting from scratch unless they’re brand new or haven’t played for months.

  • @Hoodied said:

Thats also because you have never played demogorgon

How is sbmm supposed to know where to put you if you never played that character ever?

You are currently going through placement matches, so you are gonna be queued with random people till the sbmm gets a rank for you

Also grades mean absolutely nothing towards skill

Well, new killers should use other killer ratings as a baseline, but modified down. Obviously there’s a shared skill set between all killers that is useful, so people who are regularly cleaning up on other killers shouldn’t be facing literal newbies when they pick a new killer, but also the difference between someone playing (for example) their first match of Huntress and someone who has 3 years of experience under their belt will be significant. So you find a happy medium.

Isn’t this literally how they said it would work? I don’t think anyone reasonable wants to have the lowest possible MMR on a new killer if they’re seasoned, but similarly they shouldn’t have a super high score either. There should be an adjustment.

  • “But "Disconnected from host" makes me feel like is it possible that the Survivor was the Host and because he got downed and new I was going to get a 4K he was able to DC and make my game crash / the match end early? Because that would be quite unfair if it became a thing.”

This isn’t how it works so you don’t need to worry. The host is the server, not any one player. So if you get a “disconnected from host” error, it’s a game issue and not caused by any players. In this particular instance it’s an issue with the new killer, other people are having the same problem as well.

I think the speed is the same, but increased FOV is gone, which makes it look slower than normal.

    But its a bug nonetheless

Apparently Shadowborn and Monitor are bugged in terms of FOV as well, so this is probably it.

  • Same reason they added obstacles next to lockers to remove locker flashlight saves, I guess. No interesting gameplay allowed. Just hold W and do gens, toxic survivor main.

  • It’s been 5 years of the same. Why are people surprised at this point?

  • There are way too many potential variables. SWF vs solo, the killer you’re playing, the map, your perks, their perks, add ons, items, tile spawns, pallet spawns, gen spawns, totem spawns, RNG of powers (zombies/RBTs/etc.). And on and on and on.

At the highest level it’s SWF sided since a well coordinated and efficient team will almost certainly win, by design. Asymmetrical games are won or lost by how well the team plays. But in your average game where people aren’t playing for money it’s decently balanced, though still massively affected by the things listed above.

So really, who cares. If you play better you will win more, but you’ll still lose matches to bad luck. The game is the most balanced it’s ever been, most of the worst bullshit has been reworked so just try to enjoy it. :)

Spirit was nerfed but you either didn't play the game back in the day or you chose to forget.

Also spirit is fine except the bugs. Not every killer has to be trapper tier.

Bruh, imagine facing old Spirit now. Prayer beads that made her phasing totally silent, Yakuyoke Amulet increased duration AND speed, she could tell exactly where you were by bumping into you with collision, had a stronger lunge out of phase… I don’t miss that Spirit, lol.

You say you don't run them a lot... Don't run them ever. Also no items.

If even this doesn't help: put on No mither.

So basically throw every match for my random teammates. Sounds like a fun game, I can’t wait for MMR now.

  • If I never see Twins again I’ll be happy about it, not gonna lie.

  • I don’t run meta perks a lot, I play solo and my escape rate is not especially high, and yet last MMR test I went against Blight/Spirit/Nurse/Huntress almost every match towards the end. What should I do to avoid that do you think? Run no perks? Kill myself on hook every other game? DC one match a day?

  • Speed could maybe do with a small nerf, yeah. Like everyone else has said I think Alchemist’s Ring is a bigger problem.

I dunno, I think Blight has a similar issue to Spirit in that his base kit is really good and his add ons are also really good, so they just feel like a little bit too much, especially when paired with strong perks. They shouldn’t touch his base kit but toning down his strongest add ons would probably be fair.

  • I play all killers (depending on my mood) at an extremely mediocre level of skill and somehow still have decent kill rates at red ranks, so I’ll continue to play in the exact same way and hope for the best.

  • I assume it’s inexperience. A lot of people probably just play her for dailies, challenges, achievements, etc. and don’t really understand how to effectively use her power. Because most of the people who tunnel survivors with hats never even bother to try and use her crouch or dash either, in my experience.

I think people just think, “oh Pig is low tier so I need to tunnel to get a kill” and don’t realise that it’s probably the worst thing you can do with her, especially if you have hats left that you could give to other survivors. But it usually gives me really easy escapes so oh well.

(There are also a couple of “Pig main” streamers who camp and tunnel almost every match so they might just be following that playstyle.)

Meg just jumped onto the ceiling and climbed though the broken windows while you were busy looking at the floor then she ran across the roof to get to the gate. Look up next time dumbass.

Darn, should have seen the SpiderMeg tech coming! My bad.

They're features, not issues. If they were issues, they'd be fixed by now. Right? RIGHT?

I supposed it was an entertaining end to a match, so as “features” go it could be worse. 😁

  • Why? I don’t see any reason to do so, it’s fine as a perk.

I tried this quickly on a spot I could think of using 1920x1080 and then 1080x1080. If you're interested we should figure out 2 or 3 spots on 2 or 3 maps and then use custom match to test from 1920x1080 down to 1080x1080 via screenshots and then OBS recording while we stay in the same exact spots. Maybe one set with the mouse starting dead center and leaving it there throughout taking screenshots and video which I discovered quickly is best done by unplugging mouse before the match starts lol I tried just not touching the mouse when I alt-tabbed back in but it took a few times because I would touch it out of habit while switching between 1920x1080 / 1800x1080 / 1600x1080 / 1440x1080 / 1080x1080

    1 - 1920x1080

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SMLI8FXQLCCL/cold-wind-1920x1080.png

2 - 1080x1080 - I forgot that her head tilts back and forth as she stands there so I should have picked another killer which I will next time

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/DBC45MVH80HW/cold-wind-1080x1080.png

Yeah, that’s what I mean, you can see the killer in both. I’d be happy to do a custom match to test it but I can’t think of any loops that would have a significant difference in terms of 50/50 mindgames. Autohaven maybe? Since the walls are lower.

  • Iron Will, Calm Spirit, Fixated, Alert.

Calm Spirit because crows give survivors away all the time when I play killer, and nobody ever considers them. I really think people underestimate how much information crows actually give to killer players.

  • @CornHub said:

You can counter her without running iron will. Do people forget her loud ass chase music that deafens out noise?

Chase music is in the killer’s control so I don’t understand how that has anything to do with countering her. When I play Spirit I just turn away from the survivor I’m chasing before I start to phase and the game thinks I dropped chase and ends the music, allowing me to track them easily.

What resolution did he change to and from?

I can't stand listening to him whine for long enough to figure it out.

He's also the same guy that fell for those obviously not legit screenshots 16 months ago and made a big deal about them, which people are still falling for since I just saw them show up again a few days ago on steam forums.

    Edit: Added "16 months ago"

    From 1920x1080 to 1080x1080 I think.

The problem is that those 5 tiles make up most maps. It doesnt matter if good players use stretch and still do good on native becuz their good it's when mediocre players use it ot makes them way better. it's the advantage you get like being able to position yourself better at those tiles getting rid of 5050 mindgames at those loops. It makes a difference, and saying its massively overblown is just dumb

Can you give any examples of loops you’d be able to 50/50 mindgame on native that you can’t on stretched? I can’t think of any so examples would be useful. I play on native resolution and can see most killers at most loops as long as I keep my camera angled correctly. As far as I know, if the wall is high enough to block the killer on native it will also block the killer on stretched.

  • I just play the game like a normal person and don’t BM unless I’m BMed first so no, not really. I don’t feel like my actions would have any effect on queue times.

  • Maybe they just have a different opinion than you because their experience of the game is different? That isn’t propaganda.

  • It feels good to DS a killer that tunnels you, but it doesn’t really do that much to stop them if they want you dead. If a Nurse or a Blight or a Spirit eats a DS they can cover the distance you got from the stun very easily.

It does buy your team time though. The chase is extended for long enough for your team to pop a gen or two, if they know what they’re doing. That’s really the value of the perk, buying your team enough time that the killer can only get one tunnel kill, maybe two, instead of being able to kill one person fast and snowball from there.

What makes you think that you won´t face different loadouts/killers with the SBMMR activated?

Current matches are sweat compared to the last SBMMR Test.

My own experience comparing matches before SBMM, with SBMM live, and after SBMM was turned off?

  • @BrokenSouI said:

Goes the other way too. Who the ######### wants to play killer and get maybe 4 hooks. Have to camp and tunnel off hook, etc. The design of the game just does not allow for this rediculous SBMMR system

Yeah, I understand, it's not particularly fun for killers either. Though personally, I'd rather play killer against sweaty survivors than play survivor against sweaty killers. Probably because I play solo so if I get camped into second state and then immediately tunnelled off hook, there's nobody who can do anything about it so I just don't get to play. At least as killer I get to play the game.

  • Well, the thing is that most of the people I play with and against currently don't play "meta" all the time. I played some survivor yesterday and faced a bunch of different killers, running different perks and add ons, and playing in different ways. And when I played killer the survivors were similar, all had different builds and playstyles. There was some stuff that was more or less fun than others, but for the most part every match was different.

The last MMR test was like the same really sweaty match over and over. So yeah, it was very much different for me.

  • @cyniChris said:

It blows my mind when survivors escape against a weaker killer with off-meta perks and no "dirty" tactics, start acting like pricks about it, then the next game wonder why they get camped and tunneled...

    They do it to themselves.

It blows my mind when killers camp and tunnel against a bunch of chill survivors with off-meta perks and no "dirty" tactics, start acting like pricks about it, then the next game wonder why they face second chance perks and gen rush...

    They did it to themselves.

  • I'm so excited to play against full slowdown meta killers every match and get tunnelled off hook over and over. :) I think I'll be uninstalling DBD again when 5.2.0 goes live.

  • Depends on which patch you’re talking about, lol. There have been some horrific bugs for survivors in previous patches, like infinite mending Legion, or getting stuck in hills, or when Sloppy Butcher would crash the game on console, or when survivors couldn’t be rescued from basement hooks.

Overall though I’d say killers typically have it worse because they all have individual powers with individual bugs. And since killers are solo, if they suffer a bug it can be totally game-breaking, whereas a small bug for one survivor isn’t necessarily the end of the world.

  • @calorictrack391 said:

its a counterable build that has one perk that would last the majority of the game. so why do people not like going against it?

Why did people hate forever Freddy? Same reason. Because forcing the game to go on longer by slowing down action bars (or applying automatic regression to gens so you have to do the same gen over and over) is a particularly annoying way to lose a match.

  • I will never be able to enjoy a map where I can be chasing a survivor down winding corridors, but never actually considered to be “in chase” by the game because I’m not able to get them in my line of sight. Pallet density, gen spread, gate spawns, none of that stuff matters to me if the actual CHASE portion of the game (the bit I enjoy) is so dumb.

  • It can be, but I feel like you need to build around it to make it more likely to do anything. Combined with Unbreakable, Tenacity and Power Struggle it can be fun. On its own though the effect is too weak to bother running it, in my opinion.

  • Lol, it’s true.

I feel like Bills are always super obvious with their UB plays to be fair. I had one the other day who let himself get downed near a hook and then when I slugged him for a sec, started crawling towards it. So I obviously picked him up and checked post-game and of course he had it.

  • @Pepsidot said:

Ds is fine. In fact I think a QOL buff to remove the skill check and simply escape the killers grasp would be good.

I'd say when I equip DS, most games it's never used. So it's usually a waste of a perk slot, but it is comforting at least. There shouldn't be a requirement to hit a skill check when you are actually able to use it IMO.

Especially with console performance in the state it’s in. Considering input delay and how laggy the game is, I’m surprised console survivors are able to hit DS half the time.

  • @Iliketoplaykiller said:

Always curious why survivors always like to use the “the games more balanced than it ever was” in their arguments. Especially when comparing the game to 2016, it just doesn’t make sense to me. I played back when the game first came out and it was very fun as killer but quickly became the opposite over time due to things like infinite’s. It made me stop playing killer and main survivor back in the day, those sweet sweet infinite’s. Why use this excuse when the game was in an abysmal crap state that heavily gave advantages to survivors? The game has a new standard to it in my opinion and shouldn’t be compared to those days for arguments / debates sake.

People usually say this in response to melodramatic posts about how “killer is harder than ever and keeps being nerfed!” at least from what I’ve seen.

  • I had the word “you” censored. :)

Also Bond, you know the actual perk that’s in the game, and Hawkins, the map.

  • Just do what I do and run Save The Best For Last on every killer, and you too will get excited every time you see survivors body blocking instead of frustrated :)

  • Play as Blight for a bit, to understand how his power works, how his add ons work, what kinds of hits they’ll usually go for and the limitations of the power.

Edit: This came out sounding more blunt than I intended, but this is usually what works best for me! I don’t feel like I understand a killer and how to play against them properly until I’ve played them myself.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 50
