Freddie and Ghostie, just for being knock off versions of the real deal and not really anything to do with their powers (which I think are fine).
I'm also saddened by remake Myers. It was all the more upsetting to see him reworked just before BHVR lost the license. I wouldn't have minded so much if people new to the game enjoy the version we have now but we're stuck with a version of Myers that's frozen, with a lot of old heads disliking the rework and no newer players who might enjoy him a bit more than we do able to play him either :(
The Junji Ito content being a collection of skins for Killers that I (for the most part) have no interest in playing was a disappointment to me.
The First was also a bit disappointing. He's not terrible as such, but a power that's a cross between Freddie and Pinhead just wasn't what I was expecting, I guess. As soon as I saw how he worked, I knew he'd be a nightmare to play on controller. Was hoping for something more to do with his psychic powers. That whole chapter was a disappointment for a lot of reasons, tbh (a ST part 2 chapter was on my personal wishlist, as well).

My all time favourite is Alucard's shield. If BHVR ever made an endgame perk with a similar effect, I think I would probably run it every trial.
I also love the Legion mix tapes for the way they modify their chase theme. Such a cool and unique idea. Unfortunately, I think two of them are also among The Legion's worst add-ons (Joey's and Frank's), so they would be my pick for reworks. Joey's is just plain bad, Frank's is OK, but I think the effect should be made base kit and isn't strong enough to be a purple. I'd love to see one of these reworked as a Frenzy vault speed add-on some day.
Most underrated would be the add-ons that speed up actions or just add quality of life (double reload add-ons for Slinger, Fastening Tools on Trapper, Dad's Boots and Steel Toe Boots on Billy). They're not super strong or anything, but they do make these Killers a lot more enjoyable to play as. I'm not ashamed to admit that the Trickster add-on that gives you an aiming crosshair has been absolutely game changing for my enjoyment of playing the character.
Favourite combo on my main Legion at the moment is Iri Button with the Scratched Ruler. It gives their power a lot more utility. You have your power up almost all the time, so you can Frenzy vault windows to quickly pick up Survivors, easily remove pallets and use your power for mobility without penalty.

There's a new teaser trailer out as well. Very brief, just what looks like an old school cruiser/touring motorbike with an invite tucked under the headlamp zooming past in the darkness. I don't know if this is hinting at a Survivor with a connection to Yui's motor racing past (maybe someone from her gang?)
Would make sense, since she also has a motorbike themed perk. Could just be a coincidence. I guess we'll find out, but it doesn't look like we'll be seeing Julian this time around as the next original Survivor.

There are free cosmetic pieces!?
I've been on a DBD break since 2V8, so I didn't know about these. They're still there to claim in the messages inbox to anyone else who didn't know about them either (I wouldn't have minded missing out that much since I never use these characters).
Seriously though, BHVR need to do a better job of telling players about stuff like this (including codes and twitch drops etc). I would miss out on so many things if I didn't visit the forums regularly.

I like to think I would come into the fog with some borderline useless stealthy/troll/meme perks:
Bodge Job
You repair things quickly... You break things just as quickly, too.
Generator repairs are 6% faster.
Repair skill checks have a 50% chance of being a difficult skill check. Every successful difficult skill check adds a token, up to a total of 4 tokens. Each token adds an additional 2% speed to generator repair.
Missing a difficult skill check loses a token and applies a -15% penalty to generator progression.
Now You See Me
...Now you don't!
To activate Now You See Me, progress 50/45/40% of a generator.
Point in any direction to project a moving illusion 16 meters from your current location. The Killer will also see the aura of your ghostly doppelganger running in your chosen direction for 3 seconds. After an additional 3 seconds, the illusion disappears and Now You See Me deactivates.
Locker Hopper
Locker Hopper activates on your final hook stage. After entering a locker, hit the active ability button 2 to randomly teleport to another locker in the Trial. Each teleportation event carries a 20% risk of being instantly sacrificed to The Entity.
Locker Hopper has a cooldown of 60 seconds.
(Locker Hopper is my way of bringing the forbidden Narnia Tech back into the game in perk form. But I think it would also be a fun TARDIS themed perk if we ever got a Doctor Who chapter)

Anyone who mains any Killer and plays on the OG Switch. That's the real hardcore Killer challenge right there. I only play Trapper on Switch (if I play Killer at all) because I know that's the only way I'm gonna be downing and hooking my Survivors over there.
Also shout out to all my fellow members of the unpopular Killer main crew. All the Legion, Skull Merchant, Ghoul and Trickster etc mains out there, I know some of you guys have probably had to put up with more than your fair share of BM over the years (both in game and in the end game chat). We don't get no respect from the community. No respect at all.
Also, Deathslingers that can do those crazy trick shots shooting through the tiniest of gaps.
-
I've apparently only spent half my time playing matches, too (I have about 2000+ across Switch and PC but only around 1000 in game hours).
I do play a fair bit at practicing with bots as Killer and also in the Survive with bots mode from the tutorial (because it's better than nothing at all). I'm guessing it only tracks live games played, so those probably account for at least some of the time not spent playing.
-
It depends on the Killer. With Killers I feel more confident playing as or the one's I'm goofing around with, I tend to run only 1. Usually Jolt if it's a basic attack Killer because I like to make multiple gens go kaboom (or Deadlock, if not).
But on Killers that I'm still learning or that I'm very weak with, I might run 2 or 3 to give myself more time to play (normally paired with comfort perks like Lightborn and Iron Grasp to shutdown any potential bully squad shenanigans or with end game perks to help mount a comeback).
On Trapper I will run 3 (Deadlock, Jolt and Corrupt Intervention) because he needs the extra time to set up. I rarely chase in the set up phase unless it's to push Survivors into a web of traps, so I often lose 2 or 3 early gens.
On Billy, I might run no slowdown perks at all. He can defend gens so well with his high mobility, on more open maps I sometimes find that running around to push Survivors off gens is all the slowdown that I need.

I've always been partial to the funky intro theme to Part III, myself.
Would be awesome if they got Harry Manfredini in to score his theme, but what I've heard in the footage BHVR have shared so far sounds great whoever is responsible.
-
I think he will be fun to play as and I don't really mind if his power is maybe a little too reminiscent of Spring Trap. I skipped out on that Killer because I couldn't give a hoot about FNAF and that goofy looking robot. Truthfully, I would have bought him on day 1 regardless because he's Jason, but he's still the first Killer that I've been remotely interested in playing since The Ghoul.
All that said, my Survivor soul is getting a little tired of every new killer having a bit of everything in their kit with very few (if any) weaknesses. But we'll see if that's really the case tomorrow. I don't blame BHVR for this, since the community seems to prefer these jack of all trades, master of none style Killers over the more specialised characters of the old days. It's where the player base seems to be now. The last Killer with a simple, straight-forward power didn't exactly get a warm welcome, either.
-
I wonder if we might see an original Survivor launch alongside Jason. I don't see why they couldn't have negotiated that as part of the Jason license, given that he can't come to the game with any of the other FF13 characters.
They've been expanding on Sable & Mikaela's lore in the tomes recently, perhaps those line up nicely as teasers for Julian to be the Survivor for Jason's chapter.
-
My all time escape rate is 41.49%, making 2V8 the most "balanced" mode for me.
This time around I finished at 50% escapes (over 38 matches). Ever since Legion got removed, I only play 2V8 to get the challenges done but I played more than I might have otherwise because Wesker was kill switched for the early part of it. Had I played a bit more, I might have finished at closer to 40% like I usually do.

I am actively at work right now. It's a CCTV style video that was meant to build anticipation until the 13th hour, after weeks of 13 second teasers. You are allowed to have an opinion but I think the entire concept of this teaser was really unique and fun and fitting for the King of Slashers.
You're seriously telling it wans't worth it to see the Unknown attempt to jumpscare Jason, realize its out of its league, and skitter off? The average DBD player was never, ever expected to watch the entire 13 hours of this.
Oh please… Nobody knew in advance that they would keep the stream running for a whole 13 hours. Had I known that, I wouldn't have bothered watching until the next day.
Some of us in the Euro time zones stayed up to essentially watch nothing but a shed for a couple of hours. Yeah, maybe that's on us for being too dumb to realise nothing was gonna happen for ages, but I think we're allowed to be at least a little bit grumpy about having wasted our time.

@Astel said:
That is cool but what would be his possible power though? Only thing I can imagine is throwing machete or something like that
I have no idea. But considering the fact we've already had a playable version of Jason with the FF13 game, I'm very curious to see what BHVR have done differently with him.

Jason Universe is the only one licensing out Jason, so it was never going to be F13 unfortunately
I guess that means no Tommy Jarvis or FF13 related skins, either.
I hope we at least get a nice legally distinct lake side camp site map. They could call it Camp Sapphire Lagoon or something… The MacMillan Estate is already looking a bit crowded being home to Trapper and Skull Merchant already.
-
There was a masked figure in the distance for a moment! I must say, this is a lot of effort to go to for a Jason Voorhees Trapper skin…
I'm joking, but imagine the community reaction if that was actually true.
-
Well, I stayed up late and watched nothing happening for way longer than I should have.
It was my own silly decision to do so, but this is not the way to build hype for the anniversary BHVR.
-
I think it's either Jason or something else big on the community wishlist that nobody is really expecting like Predator or Terminator. But I do think it will definitely be licensed (that said, a free original chapter would be pretty awesome. I just can't see them ever doing something like that).
Either way, I wouldn't put more than a fiver on it.

This whole excercise feels like people taking what they want it to be and projecting it onto what's given. "How can I make this set of numbers into a 13!"
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4080104#Comment_4080104
Because it doesn't pass the vibe check. I don't want a regular animal chasing people around. It's goofy. And Jurassic World is a gross, corporate option, just like SW.
I'm the other way around and I'd honestly rather prefer Vader or a Dinosaur. That's not to say I don't think Jason or IT don't deserve a place in DBD, they absolutely do. I just find them to be less interesting as potential chapters, despite being unambiguously horror related.
If we do get something from Star Wars or Jurassic Park, of course I'd be disappointed if it was sourced from anything other than the original Lucas / Spielberg productions. I definitely don't want anything from Jurassic World in the game. But if we're honest with ourselves, is there really a successful horror franchise on earth that hasn't been milked dry, run into the ground or otherwise corporatised to some degree by now? I don't think so. There are quite a few more Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Saw films than there really should have been.
I don't think BHVR would make a non-horror or horror adjacent chapter for the 10th Anniversary, anyway. Though I do think people are really desperate to see clues where there are none. They're all red herrings imo and I don't think there have been any real clues in the teaser trailers at all.
-
I might be controversial in saying this but I don't think any of the current Killers in the game are in desperate need of a rework at the moment.
While I do think BHVR can nail a rework (Freddy is a lot better than he was, imo) it's just as likely that a reworked Killer loses too much of what made them appealing to players in the first place. I can't stand what they did to Myers and post 8.0.0, Chucky feels like half the Killer he was supposed to be to me. I live in fear of what a potential Legion rework would do to my enjoyment of them.
If I had to choose one I guess maybe Skull Merchant might need looking at again because her power is still bewilderingly complex to understand and applies too many effects (I've lost track of how she works these days as she's had so many changes at this point). I personally don't like that Haste is part of her kit because there's no real feedback to Survivors when it's in active effect (unlike Clown's Yellow bottles). Still, I'm not sure her mains would appreciate any dramatic changes to the way the Killer works and I imagine they probably just want her to be a bit stronger than she currently is. It might be better to leave her mostly as she is.
-
I play mostly on PC these days but I've also logged a decent amount of hours on Switch (600+) and I can tell you, playing on Switch puts you at a competitive disadvantage compared to the other platforms. It might be a little better on Switch 2, but I swear Killers can sniff out the fact that you're playing on Switch by the way you move / react and I find myself targeted often (in truth, I'm also pretty bad at looping myself regardless of what platform I'm playing on and I've thrown in the towel on learning at this point).
Anyway, I tend to lean a lot more heavily on other strategies when I play on Switch. There are some decent recent stealth builds to try out like Lightweight, Ghost Notes and an exhaustion perk to make your scratch marks disappear. Self-Preservation is an excellent stealth perk these days and arguably better than old Distortion (the new Eleven one ESP seems very good as well but I don't have this perk). Or you can go all in on aura reveal perks to tell you where the Killer is at most of the time and make sure you're elsewhere. Or you could try my anti-tunnel hold forward build (Wicked, Sprint Burst, Off The Record, Made For This) to waste as much time as possible in chase without really looping anything at all. A bit niche, but Overcome, Lucky Break, Quick and Quiet is also a solid combo to end a chase by hiding inside a locker.
I know you asked about improving at looping but I think the community can put too much emphasis on looping as the be all and end all because that's the way content creators play the game. At the end of the day, so long as you are progressing the game and making the Killer waste time looking for you, you are still doing your part. To quote Obi-wan - "You can't win, but there are alternatives
fightinglooping". -

This is the result of meta. It's the same in 1 v 4 which is why there are so many s tier killers around and low tiers are few and far between. The only way of dealing with it is to make all killers equally viable so there is no tier list making all killers equal. That is impossible due to the wide range of powers and how different killers are.
It's not just a meta thing, it's also a fun thing, imo. I think BHVR would be able to attract Killers to play their mains as long as the experience is fun and unique enough. It's definitely impossible to equalise the powers though, I agree with that.
For example, I like playing Trapper in 1V4 but I wouldn't dream of playing him in 2V8. Partly because if I'm waiting 20 minutes for a game, I feel I should pick something stronger so my teammate doesn't have to hard carry us. But also because he's a map control Killer and the maps are simply way too big for that play style to feel satisfying to me. He's not strong but he's also not fun. He's a good option for those Survivor duos where one half doesn't play a lot of Killer but they still want to join their friend for a couple of rounds.
On the other hand, I can definitely see Slinger mains still having a blast playing him in 2V8 despite not being a strong choice, because he's different enough to the 1V4 version to be appealing to them. Wesker just happens to be both fun and very strong for 2V8, which pushes his popularity even higher. I don't think many other Killers can tick both of these boxes in 2V8.
@Shirtless_Myers said:
Wesker is currently extremely popular because the developers put him back out in a bugged state that they never fixed, so you see players take advantage of his bugs. It's honestly pretty tiring dealing with the sheer incompetence of this dev team.
He's always been incredibly popular in 2V8. The bugs this time around just add to the frustration factor of seeing him so often.
@cogsturning said:
He's in a lot of matches because there are only a handful of killers. They just need more killers. I'm not gonna play Trapper. Wesker is also more fun in 2v8 than in 1v4 with the third dash.
What I mean is that he seems to be one of the easiest strong Killers to get results with
Definitely not the case for me. I have more hours in Wesker than anyone else yet he has one of my lowest KRs. He has single handedly keep my overall KR lower than I'd like, purely from my own IP-devoted stubbornness.
I don't play Wesker myself, but I have played the others and I guess what I really meant to say is that his power seems very straight forward compared to the other strong Killers in the mode, with (comparatively speaking) no obvious downsides or as severe a learning curve.
I think if your Wesker Kill rate is anywhere near 60% you are doing just fine. I think the more you play a Killer, the more accurate your MMR becomes and the harder it gets to push past a certain performance level. You are probably better than you think you are. I know my own personal kill rates are kinda "fake", anyway. I have a habit of letting the final Survivor go when I win and I rarely walk away from a trial with less than a 1K (over time, that evens out at a 50% Kill rate and is the same for all my mains). I also play fairly casually with perks I enjoy and mostly by the "rule book", so I know I could push it higher if I really wanted to.
So I go by average hooks instead, which puts Billy and Chucky at the top with 7.89 and 7.88 followed by Legion and Trapper with 7.27 and 7.11. Trapper actually has my highest Kill rate because of his ability to win trials instantly on occasion. Scott Jund made a pretty good recent video explaining why Trapper is weirdly simultaneously one of the strongest and weakest Killers in the game. There is a lot of nuance to Kill rates, imo.
@hermitkermit said:
Personally I definitely feel the Wesker fatigue. That and Oni. Before Wesker was fixed it was mostly Drac, Billy and Oni but ever since he was fixed it’s been nothing but Wesker. I don’t mind the 3 dashes, but he does seem to get it back extremely quickly. I’ll manage not to get hit by them and make distance but that distance is instantly destroyed because he ends up getting another 3 dashes back so quick.
I dont want him removed from 2v8, and while a killer rotation would be nice In theory I think it would bum players out because the killer options would be even smaller. They can do the same thing they do to entice survivor to play though, and add BP incentives to specific killers. The incentives could swap from killer to killer encouraging more options without limiting the small amount we do have.
I like your incentive idea. Variety is less of a problem in 1V4 because there are 40+ Killers. (I assume) most players are in mid MMR, where every Killer can do well and feel viable. But I still think there is a problem with Killer variety at the extremes in 1V4. Low MMR is chock full of free Killers like Trapper, Huntress and Wraith, alongside the bottom tier Killers like Ghostie and Legion. This was alleviated a little bit by the Killer daily challenges encouraging players to play Killers that they're a bit crap with (big mistake to have gotten rid of these, imo).
They're solving the issue in top MMR by adding lots of very strong Killers, but I honestly don't know what we're doing making Blight 110%. All that's doing is saying to BHVR that we want to face more Ghouls in top MMR 1V4.
But I digress, something to sweeten the deal to encourage more Killer variety could work for 2V8. Might even help the queues a little, since it could tempt some players away from queuing up to play Wesker for a game or two.
@Wiccamanplays said:
Are we surprised that one of the most consistently popular Killers in DBD is also one of the most consistently popular Killers in a mode where the majority of Killers aren't playable? The only real way it might shift is if they managed to get Ghoul in 2v8, and I can't imagine that being well received.
@JFF said:
I see him in most of my 2v8 matches, and as you mentioned his power is fairly easy to use and with the built in slowdown makes him a popular pick, especially with the bug on top of it.
The only solution is to either nerf him or buff other less popular killers. But then again buffing other killers won't guarantee that he will be picked less. I think the only choice is to give him a slight nerf.I guess one approach would be to throw absolutely everything at the wall to see what sticks and accept the risk of adding things to 2V8 that might get a Marmite response from players. I suspect easy to add Killers like Clown and Trickster wouldn't get much of a warm welcome but then who knows, maybe they would actually work OK for 2V8? Maybe even Ghoul would be fine. None of these Killers have the unique potential to annoy an entire lobby the way that Legion could.
The only way to know for sure is to try it and find out. But then you run the risk of adding a Killer that gets so many complaints BHVR feel they need to remove them and they lose a bit of good will from both sides in the fallout (I'm still annoyed we lost The Legion).
I worry that 2V8 has prematurely left this experimental phase because it's become way more successful than BHVR ever expected it to be (especially with the casual Survivor crowd). It's made them take a more cautious approach with what Killers they add because they don't want to potentially derail the 2V8 hype train. Short term that might be the right call, but in the long term I think that decision might prove fatal. That said, so long as DBD still attracts new players who will always find the experience to be novel, it has a future. If that's the focus then none of this matters, but I think veteran players might begin to tire of 2V8 before long if they don't keep adding content or find a way to promote variety.

Sometimes the burn marks on my toast look like Wesker.

"you only delay the inevitable…"
Ha ha! You know, I do enjoy doing impressions of him to myself when I play, so if there's one good thing about him it's that.
"Paaaaw performance, indeeeeed."
-
My historical top 3 are Legion, Myers and Trapper (but Legion is number 1 by a long way with a 43% pick rate).
I just enjoy the simplicity of Legion's power. Running around, vaulting windows and pallets and chaining frenzy hits is a joy to me. They're very versatile with the perks you can run on them, I like that they have info built into their power (which is their biggest strength, imo) and they can be played seriously or more casually. I don't play Legion as much as I used to but I always return to them. They're my comfort Killer, I guess.
Trapper is a fun Killer for when I want to play a bit more strategically. I like to discover clever places to put down traps.
Then there's Chucky, who I play exclusively for a laugh with a silly meme build (Myers used to be this Killer for me but I don't enjoy him anymore after his recent rework).
And Billy, who I play if I feel like giving myself more of a challenge trying to pull off an impressive curve or two (but mostly I just bump into every little thing on the map).
I also play ranged Killers a surprising amount despite being absolutely terrible with all of them (Huntress/Trickster/Slinger). I would main these Killers but I'm not enough of a masochist.
-
All totally reasonable suggestions. Making them stronger in the 1V1 is the way to go, imo (I'd throw Iri button into the mix too for breaking pallets and supporting the other Killer).
But let's face it, the noisiest 2V8 gate keepers will shoot down any version of this character. It does not matter to these people what BHVR do because they'll never change their opinion. Plus, the devs don't want to lose face by putting them back into the mode so it's not gonna happen any time soon (if at all).
-
It's so cute you guys think BHVR would put effort into making prestige skins when they didn't even make a P100 badge for everyone.

I played Legion one whole time and was paired with an Oni.
We'll that's shot my conspiracy theory down.
Still, I think Survivors are more likely to see Killers that synergise together if they're going up against a KWF. So I'd still be willing to bet that most Oni Legion pairing were KWFs. That said, I didn't actually face that many Legion Oni pairings in my Survivor games and the complaints about them started way before Oni was added anyway. Oni isn't the reason they were removed.
It could be said that Oni is arguably still a problem for 2V8 simply because another Killer is on the map. It may be worse if he gets paired with an injury machine like Legion, Wraith or Blight, but from what I've seen, it doesn't really matter because every Killer is capable of giving him a plentiful supply of blood orbs.
I've said before, I don't care if things in 2V8 are balanced or not (or even fun 100% of the time). Legion or no, 2V8 is a balancing disaster on both sides and I'm totally fine with that because I thought that was the whole point of it. But now that we're cherry picking who gets invited to the chaotic mess of broken mechanics that is 2V8, I don't know what the point of it is anymore.
-
Tbh, I think BHVR made it so that solo Q Legions never got paired up with Oni anyway. I know I never got paired with him once. Legion and Oni pairings were almost always KWFs, so if anything 2V8 has a KWF problem that knocks the mode out of balance.
But they should be added back anyway because they were never as strong as people made out and it's not a game mode anyone in their right mind takes seriously. Besides, "fun" is always subjective (personally, I'd swap out 2V8 Wesker and Spirit for Legion any day of the week).
BHVR have completely destroyed the future potential of 2V8 by setting the precedent of removing a character from the mode like this. 2V8 is ossified and stale now.

No one wants anyone else booted out, Legion was legit unhealthy for the mode. People who play 2v8 like it's 1v4 won't understand so I'll do my best to explain for you:
-Legion functions more like a support class in 2v8, they share their killer instinct and get free hits on multiple survivors, what they lack for in their own power to down on their own, they have constant pressure.
-You add a second killer into the mix, say Blight/Nurse/Wraith/Spirit. Who thrive off of hitting and running capitalising off of recovering survivors/information coz of their mobility/stealth. You get quick downs.
-Survivors constantly in a state of deep mending so long as the Legion focuses on using their power
Then that's not even considering if you are unfortunate enough to get RPD, where their killer instinct radius is pretty much a constant sounce of information for the 2nd killer.
this is the last I'm going to say on the matter, if you can't understand this you simply weren't playing against them. You need to understand this mode isn't just 1v4 again, killer application is very different in 2v8.I've played 500+ 2V8 Survivor games so yeah, I played against them plenty. Just my opinion, but if anything they were less problematic than some of the other Killers in the mode because three of the classes directly counter their power, turning them into a basic attack Killer that can't really do much. But I've had all these discussions many times before and it's not worth going over this stuff again in detail. I'll just say that balance doesn't matter in 2V8 because it's impossible to balance and that's not the point of it anyway. Players who want a balanced experience should play 1V4.
I don't need you to explain to me why they were one of the better support Killers because I already know. But that didn't make them undefeatable or over powered. I escaped Legion plenty and even as a Legion main, I still perform much better with my side mains (Chucky and Billy) despite being extremely average with both. Chucky has a nasty teleporting bug affecting his dash and Billy wasn't even instadown in the first iteration and I still get better results with these Killers. They all have the same 1V4 Kill rate of about 50% btw, so should be around the same MMR (not that 2V8 has MMR):
Of course this is just my own experience, I don't have access to BHVR's data. But it's hard to believe they were removed because they were too strong or too good at what they did. I think they were removed because a loud minority complained and BHVR caved in to their demands. There doesn't seem to be any other rationalisation for it. But we're never going to see eye to eye on this, so I guess we should leave it at that.

So you say socials say they don't want them in 2v8, then suddenly saying the "wider community" who is that by your terms? Because you're saying they are listening with that statement lol
The reason it's not there to vote on is a decision has already been made and you can move on, you can play them in 1v4.Not the 500 people on Twitter and Reddit complaining about every little thing in the game. In other words, the tens of thousands of players out there that aren't terminally online and who just play the game. The players that don't join in with discussions on socials, the ones an in game survey is specifically designed to reach. That's who the wider community is.
Otherwise, why bother even doing a survey at all? BHVR could just ask what people want in the mode with a Reddit or Twitter poll and call it a day.
You say the decision has been made. OK, well why not a vote on who should be booted out next? Unless I slipped into a parallel universe where Blight and Spirit are viewed as fun to verse, they could be next. Or maybe Oni, who has his power all the time because there's a second Killer on the map. Let's keep voting until all we have left is no traps Trapper on RPD.
Obviously I'm being a little bit flippant, but I think BHVR should have just said to players, in the nicest way possible, this is a cartoony no holds barred OOT mode and if you're not down for that, go make the 1V4 queues shorter or else play something else. Gate keeping a goofy silly mode like 2V8 in this way is just totally ridiculous in my view.

You already got an attempt and an answer for that though? Ontop of good reasoning to do with them saying they don't want to rework entire powers just for the mode. They want to focus on stuff which will not take much effort to put in rn
Sure, I know what DBD Twitter/Reddit/Forums all think about the Legion being in 2V8. But I don't recall the wider community getting a say on that. So what's the harm in putting the option there for players to vote on?
If the Legion still gets a resounding no, then fair enough, they shouldn't be in the mode. With this Survey BHVR had a real chance to ask the wider community their views on Legion being in 2V8 and they didn't take it. Just a weird anti-democratic choice to flat out refuse to put them into the mix, imo.
-
Putting my vote to readmit The Legion back into the mode here since I didn't get that option in the survey.
Thanks for that, BHVR. Very democratic of you.
-
I definitely think it should return a lot less often, especially now we know that development has stalled (if not totally ground to a halt) with what more they can actually add to the mode. It's also too disruptive to the regular queues and basically locks me out of playing Killer for the best part of a month entirely. I mean yeah, I can technically still play if I want to, but I'm not waiting 10 minutes to get dunked on my some SWF on comms with my bottom tier Killer of choice. Thanks but no thanks.
I've also soured on it because my favourite Killer has been removed from the mode despite (by my own stats, at least) not actually being very strong. And I can't forgive the community for complaining enough to get them kicked out of such a silly and unserious mode. It has really limited future possibilities and stymied its growth.
There's a part of me that thinks they should have more or less stopped development at the first iteration and just moved on to creating a wider variety of modes. An Attack on Titan themed My Little Oni would have been sick. When can we see that make a return? I feel like the popularity of 2V8 has pushed BHVR down what has become a dead end road at this point.
I'll still play it when it comes around (mostly I play Survivor), but that says more about my reluctance to play 1V4 Survivor than anything else.

I think most people get why the vibe is off here. Star Wars isn't just kiddie and not horror, it's next to Marvel as one of the world's most soulless, cash grabby franchises. Vecna works because DnD is still kinda of a niche, nerd thing. Most people probably didn't know who he was before he was added (or before Stranger Things). Star Wars comes with tons of corporate baggage and pre-determined feelings, much of which centers around cutsy stuff like jokey robots and baby aliens.
Fair points. I think BHVR are always going to ruffle some feathers when they add things to the game that aren't taken directly from a horror franchise. But it's kind of hard for me to think of D&D still being a niche nerdy thing when it featured in one of the biggest TV shows in recent times and has been owned by Hasbro for the last 20 years. Whether people like it or not, many of the traditional geeky fandoms have fully crossed over into the mainstream. I'm in my 40s now, so I've been around to seen this happening in real time.
I do agree with your point around the baggage certain properties carry with them. After she was added, I got into playing the Tomb Raider games that our more grounded and realistic Lara is taken from and I enjoyed them thoroughly. But to my mind, Lara Croft will always be the cartoonish 90's version because that was my introduction to the character. She's grown to become a cultural phenomenon in her own right to the degree that (to me, at least) adding her to DBD is not a million miles away from adding Super Mario to the game.
That said, if BHVR think they can make Vader work for their game then I think they should shoot their shot. Perhaps it would be a little goofy and jarring to see him in the fog. But then again, one of Vecna's powers is to make a giant purple hand appear and I can't imagine Vader's DBD iteration to be any goofier than that. Like said before, I think we've already crossed that bridge and gate keeping at this point feels a bit silly.

I know its ragebait but you have got to be kidding me by calling Arch-Lich, god among mortals and fellow gods, THE Whispered One himself, Vecna, a frigging "regular wizard". I guess Myers is a chump 19-year old with a knife and Freddy is just a creep with butter knives on his fingies.
It's honestly not rage bait. I'm sorry for not being sufficiently informed when it comes to D&D lore but yeah, the guy really is just a standard everyday fantasy wizard to me. Since you're telling me he's a big deal outside of the Entity's realm… OK, fair enough. But surely you have to admit his powers don't seem all that impressive when he's in the fog (hence why I called him a regular wizard). There's nothing to his DBD incarnation to suggest he belongs in a horror video game any more than Darth Vader does.
Let's be fair and say Vader isn't just a "space wizard" either, though I do think it's still pretty funny to call him that if it annoys people.

Or they need new data to get the problem fixed as there is more going on than some simple one bug that they need to fix. So it being live lets them get more data when people report it with new logs. Sample size will be several times bigger than it would be in any of their internal testing. So making it easier to fix for good.
Could be that. They could always just say so if that's the case. Wesker's long been plagued by these ping related issues and I can see how they would miss a lot of them if they're testing on a local server and everyone is on the same ping (assuming that's where the problem lies).
I see that they've also opened a PTB for extra bug testing, but that seems to be more for graphical issues so I don't know if it's related.
-
I just wish there was some consistency with what BHVR are willing to kill switch. I get the impression they are much more reluctant to kill switch licensed Killers than non-licensed ones, because we've had invisible Spring Trap before and now we have magnetic hands Wesker. It's like they're given a little extra leeway.
I guess it might have something to do with how easy and obvious a bug is to exploit (Like PWYF Nemesis) and not just something that might happen sometimes through normal play. Still, it feels like a toss up as to whether something gets kill switched most of the time.

One is a horror icon that inspired the first ever DbD killer and is one of the slasher staples….
The other is a space wizard.
I mean, we've a regular wizard from a board game, a Hollywood A-lister and a Killer from FNAF the Fisher-Price horror franchise, all added to the game before we got Jason.
It's fair to say DBD lost its horror purity a long time ago, imo. Maybe if we didn't have those other things, I'd say Vader doesn't fit but we do so… From a personal point of view, at least this time it will be something I actually like.
-
I'd honestly like to see both, though I do think a Death Troopers Star Wars chapter would be a much better fit (one of the few Star Wars books that I really enjoyed). But obviously Jason should come to the game first. If it is Jason, it's a shame we lost two horror icons so recently with Myers and Pinhead saying goodbye before he could be added to complete the whole museum of horror ideal.
That said, hear me out, I think it's actually neither of these IPs. It's more likely to be a Predator chapter, just because I think the Predator and Alien licenses were probably negotiated at the same time. There's also an outside chance it's a Squid Game chapter (I'm basing this on the new Seoul city map and BHVR & Netflix being on good terms again).
-
I think it really depends. It saves more time to heal under hook and many of the more chill Killers don't bother returning to hook anyway (I know I don't unless I'm lead to it by another Survivor or I just happen to be in the area on gen patrol).
But if you do heal under hook and the Killer's play style is to tunnel, then yeah you've probably just gifted them an easy hook. I don't play much Survivor any more but if I did, I kinda think I should be dying to hardcore tunnelling Killers, anyway. In theory that should mean I will get less tunnellers in future because it tends to be something only the "better", more competitive Killers do.
In any case, I think it can be a bit of a gamble to heal under hook but sometimes it's worth risking just to save time. Because sometimes a Killer will return and find you both healing up anyway, so now you've wasted even more time finding somewhere "safe" and a Survivor is back on the hook again regardless. There are also times when you'll run to safety to heal but your rescuer won't bother following you. So it can be better to get the heal right there and then at the hook if it's on offer.

do you know if that bug is still here, post killswitch?
As far as I can tell, it's as fixed as it will ever be. That said, I think the bug of being slammed against a pallet that you'd just dropped behind you will always happen from time to time because afaik it always has (but I think it should be a rare occurrence once again).
The worse soft lock bug I mentioned definitely got fully fixed, though. I've not seen that one for a long time.
-
I was actually surprised they kill switched him in the first place. He previously had a much worse bug that soft locked him into permanently carrying an injured Survivor after bounding into them and it ruined the entire trial. It wasn't at all uncommon either and present for at least a couple iterations. He never got kill switched for that so I doubt they would kill switch him again if he's mostly working OK now.
I was really enjoying 2V8 without him too. But now that he's back and in every. single. trial. again I'm just getting my challenges done and taking a break. Dude is basically my Legion in the mode.
-
Yep, it's not just you. I checked my console and default Elodie on my Switch is looking bald, too.
With the new engine update, lots of hairstyles are weirdly translucent for some reason. Hopefully this is a bug that BHVR knows about and we'll get a solution for this in the next bug fix.

I have an idea to put Legion back in 2v8, put him as he is in 1v4 with a few small changes, so 4 feral frenzy hits with 5 being an insta down, give him iridescent button and mural sketch as base kit and take away the deep wound effect (I'm not sure about that one) , with the 3 survivors heal being added in earlier 2v8, Legion shouldn't be as problematic as he was
My idea to rework Legion for 2V8 is similar. But I would have them able to down a Survivor on the 3rd Frenzy hit. Or alternatively, they could just have a really short cool down coming out of a third Frenzy hit and an extra 5% haste to help them get a down.
Then I would have Iri Button be the add-on to give them a pallet shredding support role. Plus, maybe a buffed up Stab Wounds Study, to give them potential targets to chase after and to encourage them not to spam their power. I would also add an Enduring effect to Brute Class and make it their default. Essentially, this turns them into chase Legion, which is how more experienced Legions are often forced to play anyway, because Survivors know never to bunch up against this Killer.
I admit this would be a huge downgrade to the dopamine hit that was the first iteration, which saw you zipping around the map injuring the entire lobby, but it's got to be better than not having them in the mode at all.

Disagree they can add most Killers to 2v8 there's only some exceptions like plague for example
They could add a decent number of Killers but they won't. I believed everyone that could be in 2V8 would be in 2V8 some day. But that was before it became clear the player base takes 2V8 seriously enough to complain to the point that a Killer had to be removed. So unless BHVR want to risk another Legion situation and add a Killer that would only need to be removed shortly afterwards, then no, not all Killers can be added.
They probably don't want to waste resources on adding Killers that will hardly ever be played either. I wish things were otherwise but a precedent has been set so they have to be extra careful now.

But of course. The bots we have today are simply brain dead. With the proper care, bots could become "intermediate level players". But that requires investment, requires good programming, etc. The Meg bot, in "The Game" map, sometimes keep jumping from gaps right above stairs and repeating the proccess over and over again, really "dooooh". That's just one example.
As for the estimated times, for me, they're always longer. A 30 minutes wait = 35 minutes, basically. The bots were a lot stronger back when they were added to 2V8 but that didn't make them any more popular. Though I think if BHVR wanted to make the mode permanent, bots would definitely have to be an option to keep the queue times down.
If they did come back, they'd have to be coded not to make a beeline for tonics and hatches like they did the first time around. I even had one bot jump into a hatch right in front of my cage without having the decency of saving me first. And it was so frustrating to see the bots be the only Survivors to make it out alive. It might be different now with them being coded to be more altruistic and not to prioritise self preservation so much.

As much as I'd like to see new 2V8 content, BHVR probably realise there's not much more they can add at this point beyond cosmetic themed events like this Attack on Titan one. Yeah, they could add some new classes for Survivor and Killer. Maybe add a new item or two, like the fog crystals or tonics. I'd like to see both in future versions. But aside from that, there's only a handful of Killers left to be added that are uncontroversial and easy enough to implement.
I like it for what it is, but since development has kinda reached a natural end, I'd prefer for BHVR to now work on new modes instead. More modes in rotation would stop the groundhog day problem of cycling between 2V8 and Chaos Shuffle with nothing much else besides the big seasonal events.

Oops, double posted making an edit.

I'd like to see the Legend of Zelda series in DBD. I know it's not horror (or even horror adjacent) but it's still had some incredibly dark and creepy enemies over the years.
I think Dead Hand would make an incredible DBD Killer. Imagine if he also had a couple of ReDeads walking about the map that could scream at you to freeze you in place (or reveal your aura).
https://youtu.be/JQZsvPuEKT8?si=HxFhAxYbiXEhusYsI've wanted a spider Killer for some time now and I think the Armogohma from Twilight Princess could fit the bill pretty well, though I think they'd have to come up with a more engaging power for it. But I do like the idea of a Killer that could lay eggs around the map that hatch as a secondary power (I'm honestly still a little disappointed we didn't see face huggers be a part of the Xeno's power).
There's also the reoccurring Dark Link concept that I'm sure BHVR could rework into a more horrifying iteration. Being hunted by an evil, corrupted mirror image of yourself is definitely a scary thought.
Plus, with over 40 years worth of games to pull from, there would be huge potential for cosmetic skins from every era of Hyrule.
Obviously Nintendo would never approve of the series making an appearance in a horror game, but I still think it would be a cool if unexpected addition to DBD.

That Oni nerf did not do anything. He is still in his power for the entire match. I think he can work in 2v8 but he needs more than what you guys have done so far. This killer is by far the worst part of the survivor experience in 2v8 and the only killer I would say is actually problematic.
Having played against Oni a few times now I have to agree, he's pretty much exactly as oppressive as he was last time around. The nerfs have made no difference whatsoever. I don't want to see him get the Legion treatment but without more nerfs, I can see him being the most complained about Killer and we all know what that means.

I'm not sure pick rates are as much of a problem as much as implementing them.
Yes it's a waste if no one uses them but, it might be novelty just to add them for the memes/shits and giggles.BHVR have gone on record in their most recent community stream to say that future 2V8 killers need to have a strong appreciation on both sides. So that means Killers with low pick rates / popularity are not going to make it into the mode. This makes sense I guess, because it would mean committing a lot of resources to adding a Killer to 2V8 that very few people would play anyway.
It shouldn't be that serious and I'd like for BHVR to add every Killer possible, regardless of their popularity. But that's just not the way the wider community views the mode, sadly. Hence why Legion got the chop, for being "unfun" for Survivors to face (I didn't think so but I know I'm in a minority).
