  • I downed Carol in accounting once and couldn't find a hook :(

I guess that’s true, I just can’t fathom how it’s any fun to just stand there. I know being a killer at this time is tough (tried playing some matches as killer and I wanted to rip my hair out” but is securing 1 or 2 kills the only way people can enjoy this game?

I find camping painfully boring too, even when I'm "supposed" to (like EGC), I won't just face camp. I certainly will proxy camp but I'd rather still go after people than to just sit there and stare at someone.

A survivor(s) have to REALLY piss me off for me to decide to just face camp them and make 100% sure that they die.

  • I find it painfully boring but the deck is so stacked against killers right now (especially if there is a survivor running CoH) that many have determined it's the only way they can be effective. I don't agree with that (I am still plenty effective as killer) but a lot of tactics that worked well like hit and runs or even just kicking generators doesn't work because every survivor gets a free unlimited med kit to use at any point.

Some killers have decided to tunnel instead and some have just given up on even that and just want to try to secure their kill. It also doesn't help that camping can be REALLY effective as there are a lot of survivors who throw themselves at the hook and just trade hooks. Why bother doing all the work of chases and getting tbagged at every pallet they slam on your head when you can get the survivors to come to you?

  • Can you give me tomorrow's lotto numbers Future Boy?

I'll split it with you! Promise!!!

  • To be blunt, people baiting out DH are usually the really bad survivors who have no idea how to actually use DH.

As a killer, if I know the opponent has DH, I don't need to bait a thing. Either the survivor will panic when I get too close and use it (without me needing to head tilt or stutter step or put my left hand in and shake it all about) or I'll never have the chance because the survivor I'm up against knows what they're doing and has already DH'ed for pallet/window already.

  • They're just more busy work for the killer. Hell, on Dead Dog, unless I see someone right away, the first thing I do is go trash those doors because if they're not, it's a free survivor escape.

There's no risk/reward to them, just risk.

Although that said, The Game is the only map where I think it actually works as intended. There is actual risk/reward to them. Keep that door and the survivors might trap themselves but you might cut off the closest hook. Risk vs Reward.

That's what I think BHVR was going for when introducing them but like many new mechanics, BHVR seems to throw it against the wall and hope it works out instead of actually having to design and plan how it works.

  • I've always had my own internal rule of "multiple BPS equals no one dies". I still play normally, I just don't death hook.

99% of the time, this is no issue as I'm going in knowing I need to remember who was and wasn't hooked twice but if the game has hit 10-15 minute mark and it's been a while...

It absolutely sucks for me as a killer when I accidentally kill someone there (and it's good for my BP, I can't imagine what that poor survivor thinks seeing me let everyone go EXCEPT for them). If a killer is going to camp/tunnel, they have to remember one person's state and go after them only. Having a UI isn't going to make them somehow better at camping or tunneling.

I suppose ultimately it's not the biggest deal in the world but as a killer who tries to play "fairly", it sucks when I inadvertently take someone out asap because I'm expected to remember everything I've done in the match.

  • Jesus is always with us!

Just a quick idea, that I didn't examine on its abuse potential: what if the hook stages progressed faster the further away from the hook you are, while slowing it down if you face camp? But it sounds like such an easy fix that it probably has some glaring issue that I didnt think about ^^

They tried that (I believe that literal scenario but I'm not 100%, it slowed down the hook progress if the killer was by the hooked survivor).

Shockingly, SWFs quickly used this to their advantage as they realized they could have one person essentially loop their own hooked teammate while the other two hammered the hell out of the gens.

Ultimately, like many things in this game, SWFs ability to coordinate and teamwork with communication cripples just about any idea that one could do to punish a killer camping.

  • What Pulsar said

I imagine they'd love to fix it but I have yet to hear anyone give a fix that wouldn't also punish innocent players and/or could be abused by people. The closest things I've heard were extra points and whatnot for leaving the area but if someone wants to facecamp, they generally don't really care about getting BP or whatnot...

  • Because you can't let the survivor's plaything leave until they're bored with it silly!

But yeah, it is frustrating that survivors pissy about something can easily leave the game if they so choose but a killer doesn't have that luxury. I'd say it's usually not an issue but a killer who gets hackers in their game or Seal Team SWF (like that video we saw making the rounds a week or so ago with the clickity clicks on Dead Dog Saloon) just has to lie back and think of England.

It also seems to have an easy fix they already have implemented; let the killer open the gate, just at any point in the game. Maybe make it take 20 seconds or something so it can't somehow be done by accident but that choice should be there.

While I'd prefer no one takes the easy way out, if survivors get the option, killers should too.

  • I would have said The Twins just because they're super fun to play as but that was my first match as them with the DH validation in play...

    Yeeeeeah....maybe not The Twins

  • People are salty if you attempt to kill them and/or escape from being killed. Just a lot of salty salty salty bois and gurls in this game.

  • ...what? What do you mean you "can't show the forums"?

  • I do feel like it's some sick game BHVR plays on me.

-Use a grey offering and no item; I'll have the best teammates in the world or I'll have a great survivor team to fight against where we all maximize points in a fair and fun way.

-Use BPS/Cakes and my super items to take advantage; Today is the day we facecamp/Today is the day we are 4 Blendettes who do nothing but hide and suicide/DC if he comes within a 200 foot radius of me.

    Every freaking time :(

  • I personally would consider it bad sportsmanship and BM but not against the rules (assuming they're doing it on purpose, not because they can't find you; you crawling to the corner and now they can't find you doesn't count).

Same with tbagging, head shaking, clickity clicks, hitting on hook, etc.

  • I sincerely doubt it will ever. They announced working on it 4,741 years ago (give or take). If they haven't been able to get it worked out by now, I have no reason to believe it'll ever happen.

I realized thanks to your rich post that I actually enjoy being camped by Bubba. The look in his eyes, instead of playing the game he spends all his precious time with me. I should be thankful actually, what a gentleman. <3

    Sen-Bubba noticed me!!!!

  • I actually think I would prefer it if the hooked was the one who had to have BT for it to work on them, not the unhooker

It's far too easy to get farmed by some clown survivor when you're solo and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. If BT were to be equipped to the unhooked rather than the unhooker, you could at least give yourself a fighting chance when you're getting unsafe hooked by some jerk greeding for points...

EDIT: Just to clarify since some in the thread seem to think otherwise (so maybe they're misunderstanding or I am). What I would want is this. Player A is hooked and has BT while Player B does not have BT equipped. Player B unhooks Player A and Player A gets the effects of BT. If Player B is hooked and Player A unhooks them, neither would get BT.

If they were thinking the game was dying or not enough profitable, I don't think we would have more licenses. And we know the next chapter is gonna be one. And we had two recently.

Maybe it'd take too much time/energy to do some health chapter because of the code, as you said. It'd probably be like redoing the whole game.

But I'm all for a healthy chapter.

    Ehhhhhh, it depends

I'm not going to pretend like I have access to BHVRs financial records or any special insight here but I imagine Licensed Killers make a LOT of the money in those first few weeks. Like...sure, having Licensed Killers is a good marketing thing for your new players coming in now but I imagine that a good 70% of the sales for the Licensed ones are within the first few weeks of play.

Obviously I could be wrong but it wouldn't shock me if at least BHVR made most of their money on those deals in that initial wave of purchase and stuff after with new players is just gravy.

guess i'll just have to be the bigger man and accept the risk im taking then :) just seems unfortunate to risk an almost guaranteed win but hey i dont wanna play 40 50 min matches so :P

it was rottenfields to so it was pretty hard to even find a survivor thats also another reason why i didnt really run crossmap and look for survivors

Yeah, until BHVR adds some kind of way to stop either side from just doing nothing and wasting everyone's time, there's not much else you can do unfortunately.

I do that as the killer. I may "deserve" the actual win here because of the situation the survivors put themselves in but I also value my time way more than getting some random 4K. If that means I have to give up my 3 Gen Advantage so that the survivors busy wetting themselves in the bushes are actually willing to come out and do something, then so be it.

i mean i got 1 dead and 2 were on death hook besides the obsession which would make me lose ALL STACKS since stbfl was tier 1... and why would i chase away from my 3 when i dont need to... i mean i did chase a steve and feng but its not like im gonna start looping killer shack crossmap i took the easy downs... and went back to my 3 gen

You asked how you made it so that the games didn't take forever. If the survivors won't give up the game, that is the only way to do it.

It might seem a bit unfair since they put themselves in a stupid position but if they can't even attempt to do the gens because you're just camping their objective, they're just going to hide. (Or in my case when I'm a survivor, I'll keep trying to get you to chase me and hope my team actually does something because I'm not going to hide for 40 minutes; I'll let you kill me before I do that because I'd rather go to a new game than sit there and twiddle my thumbs for 40 damn minutes...).

  • To be kind of blunt, you have to actually chase survivors

I get you have a good defense setup but if you're just going to hug all three generators the entire time and make no move to actually leave them, there's not a whole lot the three survivors can do. I've had games like that as a survivor where the killer flat out REFUSED to leave the area at all, only venturing out far enough to try to swing at the survivor before retreating right back into their zone.

I wasn't a SWF but we ended up literally just having two people go in on two different gens while one person setup a damn nursing station (Thanks CoH! :D). Killer would hit one of us and we'd run back to our nursing station to be healed and just very very very very very very very very very very slowly chipping away at the gens until the killer was forced to actually try to chase someone as it was just a battle of attrition at that point.

  • I'd agree that in the best interest of the game, BHVR would be wise to invest in a health chapter and it would pay off immensely for them.

However, for some reason, I don't think BHVR agrees. Whether it's because they just want the short sighted profits, can't do it (as it's pretty well established the game has spaghetti code being held together with the hopes and prayers of children), they think the game is going to go down sooner rather than later anyway (so why invest a bunch of time and money into something that won't survive) or some other reason, BHVR seems to have no real desire to fix all the issues this game has going for it.

  • Pinhead has the same issue as many M1 killers; against SWF, they're completely neutered

But Pinhead is especially susceptible to this as his powers are downright useless so the only thing he really has going for him is chainhunt. You don't need to be Seal Team SWF to have one of you say "Hey, I'm going to go grab the box".

If his normal powers weren't absolutely useless, then maybe he could at least somewhat compete but trying to hit survivors with the chains rarely ever goes well.

  • I imagine he isn't played a lot for the reason I don't use him regularly; a lot of perks are useless on him.

You either use the perks that require hooking survivors (thereby ignoring PHs strength and power) or you use his power and dump a large chunk of killer perks.

  • Like killer, I constantly switch up who I am playing as

I'm not all that sure why since unlike killer, survivors are all the same character, just different skins...

  • WeDontDoThatHere.jpg

No idea why BHVR doesn't like Bloodhunts *shrug*

  • As the posters above have stated, for some people, winning is the only part that matters. Whether they do it because they feel like the game is too imbalanced (so all they're doing is balancing the game!) or if they just don't care how they win as long as they win, subtle cheating is an easy way to do it.

If you make the hack too obvious though, there's no plausible deniability if your BS is getting called out on and you're far more likely to be reported.

  • As they are, there's virtually zero payoff to using Pinhead's chains. They're a huge pain to control and if you miss, it takes a good second before you can do anything again (especially if you miss and they have nothing to run into to make the chains stop moving). if you do manage to hit the survivor, it can take them only a second to break them (up to what...maybe three seconds if there is absolutely nothing around them for the chains to break on?).

Using the chains and hitting the survivor takes (at least) a second to do and if you manage to hit the survivor, you save up to three seconds give or take to catch up (with one of those seconds burned to throw the chains and start moving again so a net gain of two seconds if you're lucky) with a huge penalty to the chase time if you manage to miss.

There's a huge risk to using his chain power and minimal to zero reward for hitting with them. When I play as Pinhead, I don't even bother using those chains during the chase unless the survivor is the last one (so time isn't an issue anymore and I can just try to get some extra Devious Points in the chase).

  • Oh, stop getting frustrated when people are going out of their way to make everything as frustrating for you as possible? Why didn't anyone tell me this before?!?!? :D

Like...I get what you're saying and I'd love to be able to just turn off being frustrated but I can't. Eventually, I expect it'll break me and make me dump the game for good.

The best way to get survivors to be friendly and appreciate you is to beat the ######### out of them and then visibly spare them. Then it's all sunshine and item gifts and people offering themselves at hooks. Take it from a pro: leaving someone downed on death hook instead of hooking them, or doing your best deer in headlights impression so that guy can get the flashlight save he's been ineptly hungering for all match, just gets you tbagged at gate and "LOL GGEZ BABY KILLER"d in chat. You've gotta go a step further and set them back on their feet, or drop them in front of a totem or gen, or maybe pick up a bunch of slugged survivors and arrange them in a pile before wandering off so someone else can pick them up. You have to deliberately kick those "this is not normal killer behavior" bells.

If you allow them to think that they outplayed you when you were deliberately making subpar decisions, like letting people go because you felt bad for constantly running into them, or pretending you don't know someone's in that locker, they'll shrug it off at best and laugh at your ineptitude at worst. People just don't expect the killer to be nice with the current state of the community and it won't be the explanation they jump to unless you shove it in their face with bright flashing lights.

As depressing as it is, this is absolutely spot on.

I've found if I play "badly" and let survivors think they were the ones to outplay me, I'm way more likely to get BM'ed and whatnot. However, if I make it crystal clear that I could have killed you and you are alive because I am the benevolent one here, it's usually a much nicer outcome.

You can still have people who respect you when you let them think they outplay you and you can still have jerks who BM when you make it clear that you have allowed them to live but at that point, I'm doing because I feel bad for you and not for praise. Praise is nice but I'm just going to roll my eyes at you being dum if you decide to BM my benevolence.

  • I hate Huntress (in large part due to being on a console and it just being really hard to throw those stupid hatchets at people) so I expect I'll never get that achievement. Hell, in the two years I've played this game, my achievement tracker says 0% done so I assume I haven't even down one person that way, let alone 100 or however many it's supposed to be...

I have accepted this reality :(

Nobody talked about punishing anything. You are making things up.

All I am talking about is that if I play Killer and try to get all 4 survivors on a hook before I hook someone for the 2nd time even if it makes my round a little more difficult I feel like an extra reward would be nice.

No one says you or anyone has to play fair, just that if someone does it would be rewarded.

Whether you are withhold the carrot or using a stick to get killers to do what you want, it's still a punishment to me at a killer if I end up with a survivor as my opponent who has decided that they are never going to be spotted ever.

I always try to naturally spread out my hooks (to at times a big detriment to myself; unless a survivor goes out of their way like BT Body Blocking, I will let them go to go after the unhooker) but there are situations where I have no choice because I can't find anyone else to go after.

It sucks for the person getting spotted if they're the ones doing stuff so that means I run into them way more often or if they're just bad at hiding while everyone else is a damn ninja but I see no reason why I as a killer should be punished (and yes, withholding a prize due to something out of my control IS a punishment; I also think that's why you're so baffled at people's response because you feel like not giving killers something isn't a punishment while clearly others disagree with your definition).

  • Bloodpoints and Shards have that pop-up that says you received them but for some reason, rift fragments do not do that. You should just receive them, no message telling you about it.

  • @Ink_Eyes said:

Bubbas chainsaw should stop when he downs a survivor, I just downed 3 survivors in a row after my tinkerer activated and they didn't notice I was coming, the other guy disconnected...

Why would anyone play Bubba then when that would be the same thing Hillbilly does but worse?

  • The Clickity Click is just a moron

It's harder to tell with the video the Mikaela because it's not impossible that she was stuck between the pallet and the clickity click and just couldn't move until it was too late.

    Or they're both dum :D

  • I just took a game where I got 3 hooks total and turned it into a 4K with Bloodwarden. Pretty useless perk for 90% of matches but when it does come in handy...

  • I've found there are one of two reasons why I can have 3 people hooked multiple times while the 4th person has remained untouched

    A. They are really good at looping/chases. I have determined that after my first chase with them so I make a tactical decision to go after the weaker survivors and let the super good chaser do whatever. I won't straight up ignore them if I get a free/easy shot on them but I think they think I'm stupid as I will constantly start to chase them and watch them bolt to a Double L and then get confused why I stopped chasing them...

    B. They are hiding/stealthy. This seems to be a lot more common that I've seen where the 4th person is just sneakier than the others (or the others are so obvious with where they're at that the 4th person just flies under the radar).

Neither situation I feel like I should be punished for as a killer.

  • It's never going to be fixed. You have the same issue with Pallet Hits, which have been like that for months. If they haven't been able to figure out how to fix the desync with Pallet Hits in all that time, I have zero reason to believe they'll be able to figure it out with Dead Hard.

  • I watched about half of it before stopping. It sounds like this is a big name streamer so I'm sure he's used to this kind of thing but I'm pretty sure I'd have either quit the match about 3 minutes in or just stood in the corner and let them be annoying to their heart's content while I go watch TV or something.

These are the kinds of squads that are causing killers to quit. Just absolutely nothing you can do about it and BHVR seems to have no intention of doing anything to help so...

Thankfully this kind of squad is very very rare but still, all it takes is an average killer one bad night of getting a game or two like this and the game goes right in the trash.

  • Noooooooooooo!!!!

I use Blood Warden specifically to punish swf bully squads who decide to F Around and be jerks instead of just taking their W and leaving.

If you make it automatic, that means I can't come back at the one minute mark to try to have them find out.

Sure, it rarely ever actually comes into play but the times it does come into play is so GD satisfying.

  • There is an add-on that gives you 3 blinks. To my knowledge, it is the only way you'd be able to get that achievement anymore.

  • I have never seen it not spawn but I suppose in the times I've not been able to find it, it's not impossible that it just didn't spawn but I have not heard of this.

What map was it? On RPD, it can appear on the 2nd floor for some reason (going against every other map in the game where the hatch won't appear on the 2nd floor). On the Swamp, it spawns in the dumbest places in the world like the very edges of the map.

  • I don't believe the devs favor survivors

However, I do absolutely believe that the devs favor low level players over their high level players, which generally means survivors get boosts while killers don't get much (it's generally agreed on that low level MMR is where killers have the huge advantage and survivors are at a disadvantage since they don't know all the tricks you learn with experience).

  • They have said they want to do that eventually but that was about 5,000 years ago (give or take) so I wouldn't hold your breath for it to ever actually happen :(

  • It's always great to steamroll a bully squad. I dare say that there isn't a better feeling in the world as killer than getting a 4K on that kind of group, especially if it's due to their own hubris (even though it's not useful in 90% of matches, it's why I run Bloodwarden as catching jerk SWFs F'ing around only to find out is BWs bread and butter).

1 … 57 58 59 60 61 … 97
