Just got out of a match with @tippy2k2 against a speed limiter bubba who didnt camp nor tunnel and let tippy wiggle off an escape. Such a rare unicorn he was.
But usually i expect a face camper.
:D
He was a very good Bubba too! I would have been more than happy to die at his hand as getting a Bubba who actually plays the game doesn't seem to happen very often. But he still let me go, once again demonstrating that Bubba Boy is Best Boy
EDIT: Also I need to pay more attention to who I'm playing against because I never realize that the people I'm against might be here :D

The biggest issue I've noticed as killer is matches are a curb stomping. Sometimes you are the one curb stomping a group of survivors who couldn't escape if all five gens were done when the game loaded and there was a giant RUN HERE TO ESCAPE arrow telling them exactly how to escape. Sometimes you are the one getting curb stomped when you go up against Seal Team Six as they use every single trick in the book to make sure you get 0 hooks (and commonly make it as miserable as possible for you since winning isn't enough, they need you to be EMBARRASSED for it to count).
Unfortunately neither curb stomps are very fun but 9 out of 10 matches, SOMEONE is getting a curb stompin...

The game tell you how to counter a killer? Im not really agree with that.
When you play the killer for the very very first time, the generic tips are killer specific tips (they're still pretty bare bones but if the game told you about crouching or using flashlights to avoid traps, it would be in there).
But yes, there should be a killer specific tutorial on how powers work. I STILL get people who hide in lockers when I feral frenzy and I imagine it's because the survivors have no idea that they light up like the 4th of July even in the locker once I've tagged a teammate. Survivors have no way of knowing this information unless they are told. Same with hag traps with crouching (or again, using flashlights. Knowing the crouch tip is more widespread but I wonder how many survivors realize you can burn traps away with flashlights too).

Did you read the tips game says down when you charge the match
I mean, that would have been over two years ago when I first started as those tips only show up the first time you play a killer (otherwise you'd know what killer you were up against before every match by looking at the loading tips).
I might not have been paying attention considering there are dozens of killers and she's a rare one. I might have forgotten. It might not be a tip that pops up. There are a lot of reasons why a survivor, no matter their level, wouldn't know this information. The game could REALLY use a killer specific tutorial as it does very little to teach you anything beyond "push m1 to do gen and run away if stabby person shows up".
-
To be fair, I had no idea about that until a few months ago thanks to a random thread
The game does very little to teach you these tricks and tips to deal with killer powers. You'd basically have to go into KYF (since still no bots or practice mode) to find out or hopefully randomly stumble on the info elsewhere

Part of why I started posting random ish in these threads is to keep them alive. People here on the forum would rather complain in the same five topics all day and threads like this get buried way too fast so blow up the thread all you want to keep it around long enough for people to see it :D

Very nice!! Pforge is our go to for like family days lol if your looking for wild life though I suggest going around Cade's Cove loop. Gotta go early ๐ I'm glad you enjoyed yourself!
We went up to the "Newfound Gap" I believe is what it was called. Some kind of Gap!
It was a lot of fun. I wouldn't have minded to actually hike up but I don't think anyone in my party would have wanted to hike and we only got to be here a few days as we're now on our way to Nashville for the rest
The main thing is some British lady at the Gap stated we needed to go to Princes Chicken for the best TN hot chicken but otherwise Nashville is gonna be a lot of wandering as we don't have a car (rental is due back today so we'll return it in Nashville once we get in)

I hope you atleast got to see critters even if you didn't get pics. That'd be such a sad hike if you didn't.
It wasn't really a hike. We drove up the mountain. Stopped for pics but no real walking involved.

We're in (or were in) Gatlinburg TN. Went up the mountain and got a bunch of pics but that was my favorite one. The sunbeams were a happy accident.

The one on the ground looks so sad that it's not with it's friends.
This code is different, I included previous one on the bottom. I'm guessing we'll be getting a couple more in the next couple days from other fog whisperers.
It hit and stuck but fell before I got the pic :(
So I don't think it counted for points since it didn't stick for long enough. I just need to remember to input these codes when I'm back home Saturday...
-
This is a different one, correct?
Then you get a new pic! But not of Holly this time (sorry) as I'm on vacation and therefore have no new pics.
Instead you get a picture of me channeling my inner Huntress!
Hmmm...me out of hatchets. Me get, MORE hatchets!

If you're on vacation obviously it's an old pic and Holly is in the mail. You totally wouldn't lie to be considered iconic.
Exactly! Just old pics...
I did have to shove her in a locker to get her to Kitty Daycare so there's a good chance I traumatized her and she'll bolt once I bring her back home :D

I'm currently on vacation so hopefully I remember about this but you still deserve a Holly pic for your service
Unless Pukenplag asks, then you didn't see Holly and she's totally on her way to them and I didn't just put a fake stamp on her and said she was being shipped to them for recognizing me as an iconic user
Killer Holly stalking the Sqwight

I've said it before and I'll say it again and maybe even another time! Camping/tunneling really can't be removed without hurting innocent killers not doing that (and there are times when camping/tunneling IS the best play like EGC; ######### else am I going to do when the gates are powered up?).
That said, what I really want is for the camped to get points for it. I play solo so it's always a coin flip whether the poor bastard caught first will stick around or just suicide on hook once they realize it's camping time. They have no loyalty to me or any reason to stick around besides being a nice person who will waste 2 minutes of their life to try to help a stranger win a video game and many choose not to do that, which just rewards the campers and screws everyone else since burning a facecampers time is the only chance a team has against them
Survivors who make that sacrifice deserves bp

Hope you're (relatively at least) alright :(

@GeneralV said:
Because BHVR simply cannot handle them.
Freddy used to be the most unique killer in the game, and look at the disgusting state he is currently in.
They know HOW to create an unique killer, but they fail miserably at handling them afterwards.
Unfortunately this
I have been playing for two years so I haven't seen every killer being released but at least in my time of playing, the more unique killers that were released with something extra special about them and their powers (Blight, Twins, Nemesis and Pinhead), only Pinhead seemed to have escaped without being an absolute mess.
Blight now seems much better so I suppose credit where due but at least for me on my console, I still run into issues where he grinds walls instead of bouncing off of them like we were playing Tony Hawk's by Daylight, though I will give them credit that this seems to be more of a me problem than the character once you "get used to them".
Twins is still a giant mess of a killer that BHVR seems to have just determined if they just keep nerfing them that eventually no one will ever use them again and therefore there will be no problems that anyone sees and Nemesis himself is fine but you flip a coin to determine if the special part of his power (the zeds) will actually do something or if they'll just get stuck on a rock again.
-
Suiciding on the hook would get far more interesting if this were the case :D
But I would be against it. As a solo survivor, I have no desire to be punished because the baby survivors I got teamed up with can't manage to run the killer for longer than ten seconds before getting themselves taken down
I also feel like that would INCREASE tunneling because if everyone shares hook states, a savvy killer is now going to exclusively tunnel the weakest survivor they can. Why would you ever chase a good looper when you can just hammer the weak link and make it so now you only need to hook the really strong person once to kill them off?
-
I don't even play the game as survivor if I don't have Kindred unlocked. Ideally Kindred and Bond just because the information they both give you is absolutely necessary as a Solo in Higher MMR but since we can't talk to people, we need our yellow blobs to tell us the information we need to make good choices.

if you fail the checks itll vanish into narnia but it should (!!) respawn- it did during the first rift, anyway
It probably does respawn. I only failed it the first time when a killer tried to shove his machete up my pooper mid-glyph (RUDE!) so I only had it happen once. So while incredibly unlucky, op might just have not found it again as there's nothing special you have to do to make it show up except get close enough for it to appear
-
To my knowledge, if you fail the check, it disappears for the match. Though it's not impossible that the one time I did fail the check, I just didn't run into it again
The other times, it's completely random where it shows up and it only has a range of like...10 meters or so for you to see it. There's a decent chance that you just plain got unlucky and it was tucked away in a corner that you didn't come across.

Suggestion box is over here
Our team will be happy to read these! That being said, I sincerely doubt either of your suggestions will happen ever. Idea 1 would be a hard nerf to any killer who has a one shot ability and making 1/4 of your killer roster lose their powers would likely be frowned upon
Idea 2 they've tried before and it got abused by survivors as survivors would basically loop their own hooked teammates so that the killer was in a no-win situation where they either leave the area and give you a free unhook or they stay in the area and get penalized for chasing a survivor. Finding a way to stop camping would be super but I have yet to hear any suggestion that wouldn't also penalize innocent killers (not to mention times when camping is ALL you can do like EGC, what the hell else you gonna do, go patrol the gens no one is working on?).
-
That would be great but I'm not sure how realistic it would be to expect unfortunately :(
Maybe if BHVR ever dumps last gen support (which at this point, maybe? :D) but at least as of now, I don't think the PS4/Xbox One/Older PCs could handle this kind of setup and this game lives and dies on the playerbase, not how pretty it looks
-
It's absolutely baffling people who just farm hooks like that and if I'm a survivor getting farmed, it's one of the very few instances where I will give up the game and let myself die. If you unhook me when the killer has taken only a step away and given them no chance to leave, I'm just going to stand there and make sure you don't get your precious WGLF stack.
-
They've been moved so now they're in front of the windows
I wish that they'd bring back old Deathslinger aiming
-
Way more than it should be. The game is really unique and when it is fun, it's a LOT of fun so I keep crawling back like the lil ######### I am :D
I've broken more things than is reasonably healthy for anyone over this stupid game but I'm dum and keep telling myself it'll be good next time.
-
It does
I doubt many people would argue that it's harder than the killer role in terms of skill but that doesn't make it that it requires zero thoughts or skills. Sure, holding M1 is easy enough but unless the killer you're going up against has no idea what they're doing, you shouldn't ever have a game where that's literally all you do.
-
Time for Oni to start bonking people to Horny Jail!

NONE OF YOU ARE FREE OF SIN!!!!
EDIT: Since there seems to be an actual argument about this now, I just want it on record that this post is tongue-in-cheek. I couldn't care less if Feng gets a crop top or not ๐
-
I probably will because I'm a sucker but this might be the first time I don't immediately on release. I probably will (see sucker above) but I'm not terribly excited for it or really much of anything in this game as of late.
None of the perks look all that good so a lot will depend on how much fun the new killer looks once I get around to watching some video
-
It's amazing that a reporting system that would be embarrassing in the 90s is pretty much useless
I would wager that 75% of the user base has no idea all the extra steps they have to take to "properly" report someone and of the 25% that do know how to, I imagine 75% of them don't because it takes so long and feels like such a waste of our time that why bother.

I've started out many games where the survivor spawning in next to me will constantly spam a locker or window. I guess they desperately want to get in a chase.
I love ignoring those survivors because they usually get more and more brash with their attempts to annoy you. So either you get a survivor doing nothing useful the whole game or eventually they fly too close to the sun and you 180 pimp slap them when they get too brave and too close with their antics :D
-
Wait, where did my comment go? Is BHVR Forums going kooky again or is this one of those "Saying Bastards is against the rules even though Bastards isn't censored on here and no one has ever said anything so you have no way to know that you broke the rules because no one said anything about it" thing? Dr Cox deserves to have his voice heard too!!!
Well anyway, some people are just jerks so not much you can do about it unfortunately shrugs. They're not breaking any rules by making the game go as fast as possible and not giving you a chance to actually use the PTB character so whatcha gonna do?

I dont care about it in EGC since if I know they're already at the gates I just wait in a corner. I'm referring to during the match, and even at the start of the match.
For me it's not so much it being annoying, even tho it is. I just cant focus when there's a constant boom sound going on.
Fair. I certainly wouldn't be against a toggle option or something to stop it
I don't think I'd personally use it but having an option to have it stop making the noise at least wouldn't hurt.
-
I wouldn't be against them adding it but on the list of things to fix with how rare it is, this is pretty low on my totem pole of priorities.
Be nice and I'm not complaining if it's added but I'm not putting in all that much effort to ask BHVR to do it either.
-
If it's EGC (since I'm not sure why someone would be spamming midgame instead of doing something useful like gens), evidently being far enough away makes them not go off (I think it was 48m away, something like that). If they're doing it midgame, I'd ignore them since if they're being annoying instead of doing something useful, I'm considering that a win.
So if it's EGC and you're just looking to not be annoyed, walk far enough away and then can vault spam all they want while you hear nothing over there.
-
I do not. However, my normal "don't tunnel" rule gets tossed out. If I can't tell you dum dums apart and I hit the same person again because of it, sucks to be you, I'm not breaking off the chase at this point.

Interesting to see what the next excuse will be when killers get mind gamed at a pallet or a loop, can't blame it on stretch res anymore.
This
Anyone using it isn't going to suddenly start using it even harder since the "nerf" is coming and anyone not using it is unlikely to do the work to get it when it is about to get taken away from them
Good riddance. Maybe we'll get lucky and without their cheat, they'll just quit.

I get the anti tinkerer part and agree with that. So what they mean is perk can only activate once per gen.
No need for per trial saying.
So perk can activate 7 times max.
Yup! Or at least that's my reading of it.
Although the perk kind of sucks so I'm not sure anyone will ever see it IRL to test it for sure :P
-
@chargernick85 said:
Whats the word with Merciless Storm? Says can only activate once per gen (makes sense) then says per trial (where Im lost). Is this a perk that works only once per trial? if not why it say that?
Once per gen per trial
So it'll only pop on one gen per trial. Like...let's say you have it go off and it's going nutter butters with the skill checks and the survivor is forced off because of the skill checks or the killer comes over. Killer kicks the gen and it regresses to under 90% again. Tinkerer would happen again (if this were tinkerer) where Storm would not happen again once the survivors brought it back to over 90%.
This happens for every gen on the map
That make sense?
(Though note, I do not have PBT so I am going off of the wording of the perk. Someone playing PTB could let you know how it works "in practice" but that's my understanding reading the perk)
