There
None of these perks seem all that great. The Scourge one seems like the best one (since seeing auras after a unhook seems a lot more useful than seeing auras after the killer hooks them and you're all 40m+ away from me) but I'm not sure any of these are good enough to replace anything I'm currently running.
But I suppose we'll see since consoles are not considered worthy enough to get to do PTB...
-
It's incredibly annoying on console but generally I can work around it. Once in a blue moon I get stuck enough with the stupid controller being unable to compensate the extreme side to side motion that I have to drop and slug but overall it's now an inconvenience rather than a game breaker.

Holly's reward too!

The only thing I want is to get points as the person being face camped
Especially in solo queue, it's a GD coin flip if someone is caught whether they will actually stick around once it's clear the killer is face camping. We're solo queue, that person has no loyalty or reason to help us and we're just hoping that out of a sense of honor that they will stay on the hook for the two minutes it takes for them to die and occupy the face camper. Many of these people do not do this, which screws all of us survivors AND rewards the killer for face camping.

You drive a hard bargain but sometimes sacrifices have to be made for The Greater Good
Holly should arrive in 5-7 business days

There's not really a "one size fits all" answer here
Is there only one person left and more likely than not them trying to save me will get them killed? No hard feelings bro, leave.
Are there three people left but NOED is on the table and we don't know where it is as The Killer is chasing people (or the person has been hooked with the lit totem right next to them)? No hard feelings bros, leave.
Are there three people left but it's a Facecamping Bubba who WILL be getting (at least) one of us and has a decent chance to get more because...well...he's a Facecamping Bubba? No hard feelings bros, leave.
There are also plenty of situations where I will silently curse the cowards for abandoning me but I recognize that once the EGC starts up, it's every man for themselves. I suppose it's "technically" like that all game but it only really comes into play at the end since generally getting your teammates killed early will usually just end up in all of you getting killed...

Actually, seeing that cat really makes my point stronger. You aren't iconic unless it belongs to me.
Wait, which cat? The cat in the image that I randomly pulled from The Internet or Holly? Cause you can have the cat in the random image I grabbed from The Internet (Although that's a 360 controller, which was released in 2005 originally so there's a decent chance that cat has died by now. ...awww, I made myself sad now βΉοΈ)

I have a Series X rather than a S but it runs way better on the X at least
With that said, I would strongly recommend holding out for the X rather than the S, even if DBD works better on the S
Is the more expensive 4K Xbox Series X the right choice, or should you stick with the 1440p Xbox Series S?The S is greatly hamstrung compared to the X. Right now it's not as big of a deal but I do think that the S is going to knock itself out of the arms race sooner rather than later as more companies move onto Next-Gen and leave the Xbox One/PS4 behind. Obviously I can't say for sure but personally I think the S is going to be left behind.

Do you think you could grab a clip and show me?
I really wish I would have grabbed a clip at the time but I was so damn frustrated that I didn't.
Boiled Over has fallen back into the realm of niche perk and I don't play nearly as much as I used to but I will grab a clip of that situation happens to me again.
In the games defense, that was the one and only time I LITERALLY could not leave the room due to BO (my assumption is because of the Nurse's slower walking speed that she couldn't get the "momentum" to push out of the room). You still get caught on random crap all the time but that was an outlier when I couldn't leave the room.
-
Yeah, I hope you have a clear path to wherever you're going cause if not, you're gonna get stuck on EVERYTHING on the way to the hook.
I literally couldn't get out of a room in Midwich when someone had Boil Over in one hook attempt. Nurse just kept getting stuck in the door. You'd think at some point Boil Over would have accidentally shoved me out the damn door but evidently there was just a force field in the way

https://youtube.com/shorts/RakWFF1aETM?feature=shareOr it might be because it's feeding time but I'm PRETTY sure she's meowing at me not being iconic still
-
Because there are two VERY different games in this game
If you are low level/low MMR, survivors almost always have the short end of the stick. New survivors who don't know the tricks that experienced survivors know are usually getting absolutely curb stomped because they don't know how to optimize what they're doing all game. They don't know how to deal with killer powers. They don't know how to hide effectively. They don't know how to loop effectively. They don't know how to maximize their perks effectively (go into any Dead Hard thread and you can see the noob survivors versus the experienced ones as the noob survivors are the ones who will complain that DH isn't that good because they dodge one killer swing and then go down two seconds later because they have no idea how to actually use DH).
If you are high level MMR, it flips around. The survivors all know the little tricks and strategies to run the killer around like a Scooby Doo villain. When they're not in a chase, they know what generators to do and the best way to get them done as fast as possible with minimal risk to themselves. Anecdotal of course but higher MMR is also where most Bully SWF Squads are going to be so not only will games at high MMR be a curb stomping, the Bully Squad makes sure that curb stomping is as MISERABLE as humanly possible for the killer.
That's why you get such extremely different opinions on which side is stupidly overpowered

Bloodwarden
It comes in handy MAYBE once every ten games but man...when it DOES come in handy...
If you're not a bully jerk squad, I might be able to get one more kill out of it if BW comes into play but when you go up against the bully squads, you can manage to snag all four of the little bastards. Bully squads LOOOOOOVE to spend as much of EGC continuing to make the game miserable and while it doesn't happen often, when you do get one of them out of position and hooked with half of EGC burned out...
π
-
Damn it Holly, you're STILL not cute enough to make me iconic?!?!?!
Am I going to have to replace you? You're already two years old Holly, this is a young kittens game. You're just not pulling in the Vote Ups like you used to...
-
I imagine it's just as often as survivor hacking but unless they screw up, you have no way to actually know, which is kind of the point...
and since BHVR has no system in place whatsoever to stop it, we'll probably never know shrugs
Like I finally caught on to what I believe was a subtle hacker in one of my threads
@tippy2k2 said:
FeelsGood.jpg (since no more pictures for now)
Now before you get in a big huff about ol Tippy finally embracing face camping as Bubba (and before the other Bubba mains come in here to pat me on the back for finally embracing face camping), I actually did have a very good reason.
They were subtle. VERY subtle, I'll give them that. But when I couldn't catch that survivor even with Stage 3 Bloodlust, it was about as obvious as I could get. I have found myself a subtle hacker. Not enough to get them in trouble since even with the video, it would be hard to "prove" they were hacking and I somehow didn't keep making mistakes at the Double L wall they were at but I chased them plenty long enough to convince myself.
I left them alone and bid my time...
Finally they go for a unhook on some random survivor I caught and it was checkmate. I chainsaw her as she pulls the other gal down, other gal sprints away, subtle hacker goes up on the hook and never gets the chance to come back down π
Parry this you filthy casual!
(then to help make up for it, I did ultimately let the three other survivors go even though I had all three of them dead to rights at some point but I am a merciful and benevolent killer). Everybody scored an assload of points as I had found envelopes and the other three must have found the other envelopes while I was chasing Cheater Mc'gee around so it worked out for everyone. Except Cheater Mc'Gee, the lowest score was 45,000 BP)
I'm...not sure what the "discussion" part of this ultimately is, I just wanted to tell my story
EDIT: Oh! I got it!!!! Have you ever been able to take out a cheater, even with their BS advantages? Wasn't it just the best feeling ever? :D
I am still 99% confident that the survivor was cheating and doing a subtle hack but still, I can't say FOR 100% CERTAIN that they were. Maybe they were just really really really really really really good at mindgaming me at the Double L loops. I am as confident as I can be that they were a subtle hacker and I still don't know for a fact that they were.
Hell, the famous BHVR Spaghetti Code and Lag could be what makes you think that your opponent is subtle hacking when in reality it's just the game is a broken mess being held together by duct tape and the hopes and dreams of the shareholders trying to squeeze out as much money as they can before it all comes crashing down.

RPD is my favorite map and I really wish BHVR would give it the honor it truly deserves and make it more likely to be picked then any other map in the rotation

Kindred and Bond
The lack of being able to tell where your team is is one of the biggest detriments to being a Solo Queuer. Kindred is a must because I need to be able to see what my team is doing when someone is hanging.
Bond comes in handy for a few other reasons. The obvious one being that I know where teammates are for when deciding on gens to work on or if I'm injured (or if they're injured) but it also has some indirect benefits people don't think about like I can tell who might be getting chased (since you can generally tell with their movement what's going on), if they're coming at me (so do I need to move or do something because my teammate is bringing the killer my way), and related but just as important, I can lead the killer AWAY from the person doing a gen because I see them working on the gen with Bond before we get close enough for the killer to decide to go after them instead.
There are a few other information perks you could argue could go here over Bond but personally bang for the buck, I find Bond to be the best of the Solo Queue information perks.

Underneath the entire catastrophe that is this post, I can kinda understand where your coming from here, but it's clear you aren't experienced enough to understand what perks are even good.
Even under that, there really isn't anything to understand coming from
BBQ & Chili is AT BEST a C-Tier perk when it comes to usefulness. Maybe. At peak performance.
Killers run it for the BP. Even in information gathering, there are multiple perks that are far better at it.

You have zero reason to feel like a POS and you're doing EXACTLY what you should be doing.
If they want to abuse a perk to make your game miserable, you can abuse standing over them and not letting them ever get back up. You want to make it so I can't do anything survivor, two can play at that game.
-
I think if this event has proven anything, it's just that we all basically want a reduce to the grind
Like...there was nothing terribly special or wonderful or great about this event except that we could all (Killer and Survivor) get a stupid amount of BP playing the game
But that's all it really took for people to be super happy with the event
So....
*hint hint BHVR*
-
As others have alluded to, he is an absolute nightmare to control on consoles. You can throw your 40 pack of knives at a survivor and you might get lucky and get 6 of them to connect before you need to go get more if the survivor has even the smallest amount of competence.
-
Ooooh, bad call :P
-
What perk is it that you really want?
That's the perk that the bloodweb hides from you. It's amazing how adaptive the AI is in the bloodweb that it knows what you want like that.
-
Giving attempted bully squads Sweet Justice is one of the best feelings in the world in this game.

Then you would have complaints that people dislike the new Leatherface cosmetic and feel its inferior to the old ones.
At least this way, you're completely free to spend your compensation however you want instead of having something you may not even want forced on you.
Fair

The masks weren't bought. You got them through playing. You earn Shards through playing. So you got Shards back.
Ultimately it is their call what they do but it does feel irksome that they took away cosmetics from Bubba but gave you no replacements for Bubba.
Whether I got them for free or not doesn't really matter to me. It's BHVRs call in the end so they can do what they want (Hell, it would have been well within their right to just pull the masks they feel is problematic and told everyone to suck it up and give us nothing) but I feel like it would have gone far smoother if they replaced the cosmetics we lost with a different one.
-
The only part that I really don't like is the compensation part. The cosmetic taken away were for Bubba but these Shards don't let us get anything for Bubba.
As much as it would have hurt the pocket book, if BHVR really was serious about how it affects their players, either Auric Cells should have been given (enough for one of the Bubba Cosmetics) or a new replacement cosmetic for Bubba should have been created for this. Since they just released the Old Lady Cosmetic a little while ago, I presume they still have some kind of a working relationship with the license holder if they needed permission to give Bubba some kind of new mask or cosmetic (maybe a multi-person cosmetic where all four survivors faces are sewn into one mask?).
-
I would not
But I don't play the side with the long queue so it doesn't really affect me. If it's the daytime, I play survivor when the queue is low . When it's nighttime, I play killer when the queue is low.

The most recent qna they provided an answer on this.
I'll boil it down as this isn't a direct quote, basically the roadmap for console optimizations was clearly too optimistic. Basically, in order to achieve 60 fps on lower end hardware/last gen consoles cpu and gpu frame times need to be below 16 milliseconds. Good news is on the gpu side that is already done. The efforts over the last year (2021) have dropped the cpu frame times from 27 milliseconds to 22 milliseconds.
This is essentially verbatim from the QnA stream at this link
They first announced this two (three now?) years ago
They can talk all they want but until there is an actual, concrete patch being downloaded to our consoles and everyone gets a chance to run it and see that it isn't a lie, they're gonna have to forgive me if I Press X to Doubt on these claims.
I am of the mind that BHVR was overly optimistic rather than flat out lying to people but the end result is the same no matter which way it was. Last gen is getting left in the dust and I personally do not believe it will be something that they will actually fix.
