The entire reason I run Blood Warden is to catch those jerk bully squads who want to F around and need to find out.
If Blood Warden will start automatically once the gates are open, I can't catch one of those little jerks at the one minute mark and then watch the rest panic as they realize what has happened...
-
Yeah, pretty much and if you're like me, you got dragged back into ELO Hell kicking and screaming once you finally crawl your way out
Like...I had a game where the Feng just kept jumping through windows. Only the babiest of baby survivors don't realize that doing that is sending up a big ol HEY KILLER I'M OVER HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! signal and every time she would go anywhere, she'd do it.
It's not like she was trying to grief or whatever (I don't think at least) because like I'd be in the killer shack working on the gen, she would jump through the window, and then start working on the gen while I sit there silently cursing her out and hoping that when the killer does come over that he murders her first.
But of course in DBD, survivors can't do everything alone so I'm stuck with the dullest of dull tools to try to get myself back out of this Hell...
But hey, I only ran the killer for 5 gens so was it REALLY a skilled play?
EDIT: Super, there's a suicide on the hook so down down down down we go!
This is the kind of ######### that everyone SAID would be the problem with the stupid-ass SBMMR system and shockingly, it IS a problem with the stupid-ass SBMMR system! I am shocked. This is my shocked face. Can you see how shocked I am?
-
As childish as it might be, I don't think telling someone to ######### off is against the rules. They only take shirts away for the most heinous of crimes like Hacking or criticizing BHVR
-
I'm guessing it is what my prediction was but we're seeing it live now instead of me saying it.
BHVRs plan was always to just run out the clock. Maybe they legit wanted to do the optimization but couldn't or maybe they never actually planned to but it seems clear they won't do it now. They'll just let the discussion die down as more and more of their player base either quits or gets the next gen consoles.
-
There is plenty you can do against hacking. That stuff just costs money and time to implement and BHVR cares more about money than they do about you.
You can't completely stomp out hacking 100% but the current state of the game for hackers is pathetic by BHVR and they absolutely deserve to be roasted for it at every turn.
-
No
They do carry over though so assuming DBD isn't dead by next year, the envelopes are reusable next lunar event
-
I am confusion with what your post says but if I understand correctly, the Kate was on 0 hooks and escaped the trial instead of sticking around and trying to help the team.
To which I'd say they have nothing to excuse. There is nothing in the game that requires a survivor to risk themselves to save someone else if they have 0 hooks. It's nice and a good thing to do but especially once the gens are powered, plenty of people choose to save themselves rather than risk dying to help their teammates. Like Dwight's Bond perk says, "We have to work as a team, I need you to survive so that I can survive!". Once it's clear Dwight will survive, it's every man for himself.
Unless your complaint is that a six year old shouldn't be playing a game like this, in which case I'd agree but you seem irked the six year old abandoned your team rather than being irked that a six year old was playing in a murder simulator...
-
Sometimes I wish it existed too but I know it's best for me that it doesn't. No temptation to look at people being jerks in the chat and getting myself all worked up after getting my teeth kicked in by a bully squad if the chat doesn't exist.
-
Very very very very very very very *breath* very few killers would volunteer to play against SWFs if they were given the option to opt out. That's why it'll never happen.
-
@Zenologic said:
Oh right I forgot people cry out "OpEn GaTe YoUrSeLf". And how exactly is helping survivors escape faster supposed to help me? Survivor mains love to call out that excuse. Besides the fact that opening the gate is buggy asf and most of the time you can't even open it. So yeah, EGC needs to start as soon as last gen is done so survivors feel more incentive to actually escape
So which is it? You hate EGC because the remaining survivors are just wasting your time and bullying you by having it not start ASAP or EGC shouldn't help the survivors get to escape?
To repeat...
EGC is NOT there to help the killer get more kills (crafty killers can use it to get more kills but it is not designed to help the killer). EGC is there to force the game to end.
I have never once not been able to not open a gate and I have never ever heard that complaint on the forum so you'll have to forgive me if I have a hard time believing that you are the sole killer who is unable to open a gate
-
The point of EGC is to make people leave
If you wish EGC to start sooner, go open the gate yourself
-
At this point, the only people who think it doesn't need a nerf are people who haven't gone up against a Hostage Taking Bully Squad (or they ARE in the Hostage Taking Bully Squad).
Because there is no chance in hell that anyone who has gone up against a squad running Boil Over, Boon Exponential, Soul Guard, and Tenacity with a RPD Map offering could ever seriously argue that the perk is fine and doesn't need to be fixed.
-
BHVR clearly does not care about the cheater problem so we're kind of stuck like this unfortunately

OooooOooo! That sounds like something I did! Only from a survivor side. I was running the second chance build (I was solo running deliverance, UB, Kindred, and DS) Killer ended up being a streamer, and of course was taking sh*t about my build (I don't blame them) however he was a stretched res blight so anything he said immediately went out the window imo. At least I'm using perks from the game and not cheating.
Yeah, it's amazing how many people do the stretch res thing and then complain about their opponents having unfair advantages with busted perks or whatever their excuse for being bad at the game is without even a shred of introspection that they are actively CHEATING :D

I avoid tunneling whenever possible but I'm not sure why it would be more boring to chase after the wounded guy than it would be to spend time finding a completely new person and then spend even more time chasing them down because I have to hit them (at least) two more times now to down them.
A chase is a chase is a chase. Just when you're injured, that chase ends in one hit rather than having to do two hits

Oh man, how is your health holding up? Are you feeling good?
I assume you've been in a two week coma if you are of the mind that this is a hot take that no one has had the guts to finally put in writing :P

Wise up to what tho ?
Just my normal doom and gloom posting about how much I hate this game but keep crawling back to it. :D
-
Not particularly but The Ring was never a movie I got all that into. Like...it was good but it didn't really go beyond being a good horror movie. It's nowhere near the iconic that Freddy or Michael or Jason is.
I'll get it assuming I haven't finally wised up and quit forever by the release but I'm no more excited for this than any other killer release.

Doesn't the sheer existence of DBD cancel all that out
1.5 million raised for mental health with 1.4 million going to their own player base for the mental anguish caused by their game :P

I've used it a few times as a killer. Seems kind of meh. While the time can be handy to help slow the game down, if the gen is blocked for the survivors, it's ALSO blocked for me as a killer. So unless I'm running it with Ruin and none of you have managed to find Ruin, the gens don't ever regress with it (although I suppose yes with Scourge Hooks but there are pretty easy counters to that, don't do the gen once someone gets picked up).
I've yet to actually play against it so maybe it's way more oppressive than I think if I'm on that side of it but as the killer, it just seemed...good. Not great, but good. Good enough that I'd consider putting it in a build (this game I had Oppression and DMS on so it was fun to kick a gen and have two other gens get blocked because they missed the Oppression Skill Check but again, it just blocks the gen, didn't keep it regressing).
-
I basically just slug them
Right now if a bully squad wants to hold the game hostage, there's very little you can do about it unfortunately except for Death by a Thousand Paper Cut them or hope they get bored.
-
Body blocking with BT makes you my target by default
If you don't want my attention, don't run up to me and try to give me a hug. Because I will assume you want a hug back and the only way I can hug you is to carry you back to the hook.
-
Yeah, I think someone is throwing a hissy fit on the forums cause I've seen a few...less than PG pics on here a few times before mods take it out.
-
My only real complaint is you can go down the stairs but STILL drop because the game is wonky as hell.
If you hug the walls too much (something Boil Over might force you into), there's a good chance you'll get "stuck" on it and then "fall" once the game realizes you're floating on nothing...

Yea I don't know what it is but maybe it's because there's no other horror game like this atm? Or it has our favorite killers?
Because when this game is firing on all cylinders, it is one of the funnest, most exciting multiplayer games you can play.
Unfortunately those games are like...1 in 10. Most games you are either curb stomping the hell out of whoever you're up against or they are curb stomping the hell out of you (and in those games, plenty of those players KNOW they are curb stomping the hell out of you and go out of their way to make it F'ing miserable).
Unfortunately time has a way of making us forget that the majority of matches kind of suck. So we get beaten down by the crappy matches, get angry, quit, remember the good times when you made that incredibly sick play and how your pulse got racing like you were in the last block of a marathon, and then tell yourself that THIS time, it'll be different...
Then you get curb stomped and you wonder why you bother
-
I too am also incredibly dumb :P
But yes, I have had days where it was nothing but bully squads, gotten pissed off (RIP Keyboard), vowed to never play this damn game ever again, and then came crawling back like a lil ######### :D
-
It's why I'm kind of glad Xbox added that stupid little "Record" button to the controller
I've snagged videos of me doing cool stuff a few times and then share it with my Discord. They do not like DBD so it's wasted on them but I got no one else to share it with 😭
Like today I got a double tap with Nemesis!!! It was awesome. Completely healthy survivor (infected) runs into a zed, zed smacks them and I make sure to time my Falcon Punch to knock them down without the speed boost. TAP TAP Dead!
I also sometimes Twitch stream so I have a few clips of me doing amazing things. My favorite being the one where I was stabbed by the killer and as I was falling, the hatch spawned under me so it looked like he stabbed me into the hatch.
-
In David's defense, he pre-partied hard and is kind of drunk right now

I'm going to be doing a 2 week 'survivor only' challenge...for science.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2788470#Comment_2788470
That doesn't seem to be the norm.
If anything, there is an expectation that the killer gives the last survivor the hatch or gate - and if they don't, they are going to get cussed out in postgame.
In creeping up on 500 hours of killer now, I've had 2 survivors give me a 'pity kill' on a blowout game.
I like playing survivor enough that I play it a few times a day. But I just...I don't know, I find the role gets too stale and boring if I play survivor more than a handful of games each day.
Maybe the repetition just kind of bores me. I rarely play the same killer twice in a row so even though the overall objective is the same, the meat and potatoes of the game can be wildly different when I switch from Bubba to Plague to Oni to Nemesis. With survivors, the only change is what skin I'm wearing.
-
Once the event is over with, there's a decent chance I'll hang up my blade until the Boil Over perk is dealt with
Right now I can still get a ton of BP with the envelopes but just the knowledge that at any point, a foursome bully squad can just hold me hostage is not something I have any real desire to deal with. I've only dealt with that ONCE but that one time is enough that it just saps my desire to keep playing.
-
Well hopefully that will minimize Troll Squads abusing it to bring the game to a crawl.
I'm still irked by how bad the side to side is still stupid strong against console but we'll see how this goes.
-
I have no intention of ever paying real money for a cosmetic but for the people that do, absolutely.
It's baffling to me that you can buy a skin that cost 2-3 times what the character cost and it's nothing but a change of clothing.
Your money so do what you want but if I'm spending $10+ on a skin it better be something like Baby Yaga and not just a change of clothing.
-
My download was only 1.8 gb. I've never actually had any issues with any of the patches or whatnot. Maybe it's fine on Series X but not on other devices?
-
I can't do that (Xbox) but if I had that kind of hint that I'm getting hackers/cheaters, yeah, I'd dodge
I don't dodge for...really anything but if I had a way to know I'm going into a game with hackers, I'd carve an exception for my "no dodge" rule
-
Well a good first tiny little baby step I suppose but this is a band-aid on a severed limb that is the Boil Over problem...
-
-
There is not and it will almost certainly never happen. While there are a handful that would, the vast majority of killers would just uncheck SWF. Why risk a 4 man bully squad when you could just check the box that makes it so it's a 0% chance?

I load into a game. RCPD and oak offerings. Perhaps it will be okay, I think to myself, I brought Agitation for my Scourge Hooks. Perhaps I will escape the tyranny of the library. Maybe they aren't fully committed.
A Dwight. I give chase, and where to? The library, of course. In the distance, a gen pops. Do I commit? No, not in this hellish room. I flee the powerless Survivor, seeking out of position prey that could be downed and sacrificed for the Entity. But they seem to know where I am with ease, communicating with something beyond sight or sound. Feng Min leads me back to the library. Another gen pops.
This time, I pick up. Perhaps we can get to the hook in the lobby. Boil Over, of course, and I get forced to take the stairs. I have no chance to make it all that way, not with the new skill checks. Feng Min escapes, and a third gen lights up. I might be losing, but I haven't given up playing yet.
This time, Claudette elects to send me back to the library. I find myself starting to hate it, despite all the books. I down her and go off to seek another survivor; maybe I can simply slug them all, or catch them coming for a rescue. A fourth generator finishes, and the sound of a boon going up echoes throughout the police department. Claudette climbs back to her feet and flees.
Meg is my last opportunity. Like her compatriots, she leads me back to the library. I down her and stand guard, watching over her dying body amongst the dusty tomes. Maybe now, the last generator will be repaired and the others will escape. Meg tries to get up, and I knock her down once again.
Time passes. All around, I hear the sound of fast vault after fast vault. The last generator lies uncompleted, and Meg keeps attempting to escape. I am imprisoned in this room as surely as she is, my mind forced to watch over the library lest we be reset once again. Her defiant glare looks at me from the ground, knowing that her plan is working.
I wish I was Meg. I, then, could bleed to death on the ground and be freed from this torment. Meg dies, bleeding out on the ground, and I seek out the next victim. The sound of a boon comes around again: they are prepared, and no target could free me from this torment.
I slip up on Claudette, looking away for just a second too long, my mind dazed by the tedium of standing guard over an unmoving body. It takes more than a minute to find Dwight and we return to the library's inescapable second floor. I resolve to not fail again. Aeons pass, and Dwight moves out of this realm. Feng Min follows, though my muscles start to atrophy from lack of use. Only Claudette remains.
I find her, my twice-escapee, standing over a hatch. For reasons unknown to my tedium-destroyed brain, Claudette rhythmically crouches before dropping away, free from my clutches.
Escaped from the Entity's cruel game, I look at my opponent's preparations. Rearing horse after rearing horse, boon after boon. Everything planned, everything prepared. And as I behold, my eyes drift over, seeing what last horror has been visited upon me:
"gg ez"
Wha?!!?!?
...sorry, I blanked out there for a second. What were people talking about?

More like 'take a break' or 'If you didn't kill or escape was it actually skill?'
BHVR not knowing what skill is does seem to ooze into basically everything about this game, eh?
-
I still think Basekitting BT is the quickest way to make BT irrelevant. If a killer is going to tunnel you, it's going to happen. With BT in question, they might hit you and give you the speed boost you need to bolt away but if the killer goes in KNOWING you have BT, do you think the killer is going to
A. Have a change of heart and stop tunneling
B. Wait X seconds to then smack you instead
At least right now the killer has some risk/reward to smacking you right off the hook but make BT basekit and all you're going to get is tunneled but after X seconds have passed

Which is why I just cant get my head around how this perk change ever made it to live servers!
The LAST thing the game needed from a survivor main perspective, was for even more killers to stop playing as queue times were pretty horrific already at peak times.
I've gotten super angry at the game and quit "In Anger" before (until I calmed down and came crawling back like the lil ######### I am :D) but this is the first time where just the thought of going into the queue as killer and knowing there's a chance I have to deal with this makes me really just not want to play.
Like...this isn't anger anymore. This is just plain deflation. Right now the Envelopes are still keeping my interest as I can still get a ton of points out of the game even if the survivors are all abusing the situation but once the event is over...
I just...I don't know right now. I want to keep playing as it is a unique experience you really can't get out of many other games but at some point, the cons are going to outweigh the pros. The cons already have started stacking up with things like CoH and SBMMR but knowing that any game I enter could become a damn hostage situation for me and there is literally nothing I can do about it...

"...Some bigger killer being behind me trying to murder me." Now THAT would be an interesting new game mode.
Now killers and survivors have a common enemy, we have to work together!
-
Boil Over and BHVRs complete refusal to even acknowledge that it might possibly maybe be a slight problem is seriously making me consider not playing killer anymore.
Even without the bully squads, on a controller it's damn difficult to get someone to a hook if there's not a completely straight shot right to the hook as you get stuck on EVERYTHING.
It can be a frustrating experience as a killer in the best of circumstances. Now we can't even reliably expect to hook anyone, even if the survivors are not purposefully using the perk to make our lives a living Hell...
-
It's weird cause I feel like it's been the opposite in my experience. As the killer, I have a lot more say in getting the envelopes (since I don't have to worry about some bigger killer being behind me trying to murder me). If I and a survivor are going to the same envelope, I can choose to let them grab it or I can choose to smack them and tell them NO, BAD SURVIVOR!
I suppose if they're in a SWF that's the only time it would really be an issue but even then, I guess I'm happy enough with all the extra BP I get from my own envelopes and all the BP from the Lunar Hooks.
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1FVsVE54Qw
Unless I decide to just quit I suppose. Then I might stop complaining about it. Because as long as survivors can literally take the game hostage with the Boil Over/RPD combination, I have no reason to stop complaining.
EDIT: Like my thread from yesterday says...
@tippy2k2 said:
Three Petrified Oaks, RPD, and a squad filled with Boil Over and Boon Exponential
But yeah, sure, Boil over is perfectly fine, right? :D
The only reason I was even able to actually leave instead of spending the rest of my life in that game was one of them clearly got bored and did generators. But I did protect my Envelope! So I've got that going for me. They may waste my time, but they will never get the 4,444 BP from my envelope!!!!
Time to play some Leatherface! Daddy needs to express some rage...
GGEZ
That was 20 minutes of my life taken away from me by a Boil Over/RPD bully squad just wasting my time. Had they so chosen though, they could have just as easily kept me in there for 30 minutes, a hour, 2 hours, however long they could get away with picking themselves up and wasting time until I very very very very very very very slowly death by a thousand paper cuts them bleed out.
How anyone can look at that situation and go "This is Fine" will forever baffle me.
-
So a four man bully squad running Boil Over, Soul Guard, Tenacious, and Boon Exponential isn't game breaking because while it might take a hour of you knocking someone down, waiting for them to get up with exponential, having to chase them again for (at least) eight seconds in order to knock them down again and having to repeat the process multiple times ISN'T taking the game hostage?
Like...I suppose you're technically right in that the game will eventually end as long as you're willing to do this for a good twenty plus minutes PER survivor...
Does BHVR not realize how utterly ridiculous this sounds or do they realize it, they just don't really care?
