They're fun to play as and a killer I used to really enjoy but DH has rendered them virtually useless so I stopped playing as them. The majority of my pounce attempts end up with me flying through the survivor and then getting kicked.

I loved that way too much lol
I've found that faffing about on the forums is way more fun than doing the same tired arguments over and over again so knowing I got a laugh out of someone makes it all worth it! :D

Like survivors, there certainly are jerkface killers but there are still plenty of us who try to not be jerkfaces.
-
I ignore them. I just go after the other survivors and let the annoying one be annoying over there. Not much else you can do with them unless they're really bad at cheating and still manage to get themselves caught somehow.
I don't bother reporting anymore. Not worth all the time and effort. BHVR can police their own damn game, I'm not going to do it for them.

Bubba. If you play him straight up without the stereotypical camping and tunneling he is known for.
I would agree with this. All killers are suspectable to that 360 crap since the game's "autoaim" is stupid easy to fool but Parry this you filthy casual!!! *Incoherent Chainsaw Screaming*

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
-- Robert J. Hanlon
That is true but it hurts my brain even more to think that the devs could look at this and go "this is fine". It being a conspiracy between a few members of the dev team purposefully trying to sink their own game in a bet makes me feel way better.
-
🐷
Always happens with every Tome. Give it a few days and it'll go back to normal.
-
I used DS on The Spirit and she turned into The Plague!
Ha haaaaa
😭
-
Because BHVR has no idea what they're doing and can't implement a super simple anti-cheat software that goes "hey, that lady is bouncing around like a GD basketball, I have a feeling that she's cheating".
So we all get to pay the price because BHVR is incompetent when it comes to dealing with cheats
-
Is that why I keep dying?
-
There are a lot of things in this game that are making the killer experience absolutely awful lately. Boil Over by itself isn't that big of a problem but there are areas in even "normal" maps due to the RNG God's deciding "F that killer in particular" where you literally cannot get someone to a hook in time if they have Boil Over.
There are a lot of frustrating things in this game but I think not being able to get the hook after you spend 30 seconds going after this one person and not even being able to hook them because that survivor is either purposefully taking advantage of the crap design or you just have bad luck with the awful hook spawns and there's nothing close enough to you to carry a survivor to.
-
This is an issue BHVR should have dealt with ages ago but for whatever reason, they seem to have zero desire to do anything about it. They have a reporting system that would have been considered archaic in the 90s and a game that somehow can't detect that a survivor being hooked 5,384,432 times in a match or a Hillbilly who can fly through the air like a plane is abnormal.
It's a joke and BHVR seems to have no interest in fixing it so *shrug*

Nah it's just that balancing is awful rn. I'm more convinced it's a "we don't know what the hell we're doing" than a "screw killer players" mentality.
I mean cmon, they nerfed stale biscuit before alc ring.
This (along with CoH) just feels like someone is sabotaging it all to win their "make the killers quit" bet. He'll, I'd feel better about that because otherwise the only other explanation is that somehow BHVR sees all this garbage and says "Yes, this is balanced and fine".
I'm not sure which is scarier :D
-
I'm still pretty sure some of the devs have some kind of side bet to see how much they can mess with killers before they lose the player base. It's the only logical explanation.
-
If we had a thread every time this happened, this forum would be 90% these threads.
BHVR seems to have no desire to deal with it so *shrugs*

Don’t get mad at the survivors, they didn’t design the perk.
If you're running Boiled Over, I'm not mad at you for doing that. I might be irked and annoyed but they're running a perk, that's not illegal.
If you're running Boiled Over with the planned strategy to run to areas where I literally am unable to hook you, F that noise, I'm going to be mad at that survivor for wasting my time. They're not going to care but they don't get a pass for abusing a perk like an ######### just because they didn't design the perk.

You answered your own question "What the problem is now?" when you said "It's boring." That's the issue. And no, I don't think it's boring for the survivors because they intentionally went in to do it. They enjoy it. People don't generally go out of their way to bore themselves.
The answer is simply that it's unfun and boring to go against. It turns the match into a total slog that takes forever, can be abused very easily, and it still has almost no practical application EXCEPT to troll people. That seems like a really bad game design, to me. And this game has nerfed plenty of things before due to them being unfun and boring to face. Also a lot of people work jobs, so their time isn't worthless to them.
This
As a barely functioning but still technically functioning adult, I don't have any desire to waste the handful of matches I play a day playing "Babysit the downed jerk".
I'm here to play the game and you're wasting my time with your BS.
-
Pretty God damn pissed off after that last game, not gonna lie
Playing Nurse on Midwich (a place where hook placement can already be stupid as hell) and four survivors using Boiled Over. They didn't even need the drops for me to not be able to bring them to ######### hooks, getting the slowass nurse to float her way through a GD door takes forever (I don't know if this is a controller thing or if it's just an effect of Boiled Over but you can't correct their swaying to save your life with a controller) and then the survivor is off your shoulders and I guess it sucks to be you.
I swear BHVR looked at CoH and somehow thought THAT wasn't an enough of a survivor boost and wanted to double down. Maybe some of the designers have a bet going on to get killers to quit the game or something.
Lots of BP in the event at least so I guess we've got that going for us...
-
It also seems to happen a lot when new Tomes come out. There are too many people focused on doing their tomes, even at the cost of the match and it hamstrings the entire team :(

In the few games I've played I haven't even noticed people going for envelopes delaying the game. They are activated/picked up wicked fast. Takes longer to cleanse a dull totem. 😂
I always play an envelope so I'm always getting at least one prize and with the Generators giving all that bonus BP and seeing my numbers at the end of the game, I assumed it was all the envelopes collected in the entire match but I guess it's just whatever I'm finding plus that sexy bonus generator BP.
I suppose that's a mild bump in power for the Killer in the event but that's only if your team is a bunch of dum dums...
Oh no, I play solo too! My team IS just a bunch of dum dums!!! 😭

Only the person who claims it and the person's who envelope it was get the points.
Oh. Harsh :D
Well I guess that explains why everyone is doing a mad dash to the envelopes. Although I'm always playing an envelope so I guess I'm always getting bonus BP no matter what goes down...
-
As a killer though, I am also wandering around at the beginning and going after envelopes instead of going for generators/survivors.
Also unless I'm mistaken, it's not like the envelopes go away and as long as someone gets it, doesn't everyone get the points? (EDIT before I get 1,000 replies correcting me; that is not the case evidently, though if you brought your own envelope, you will always get that ones points).
-
I'm... honestly not sure if this is a complaint thread about Boil Over or a complaint thread complaining about all the complaints about Boil Over :D
So with that said, you can absolutely win your games but still have a bad time. Having to slug four survivors and sit there with your thumb up your bum waiting for them to bleed out and wasting some precious free time still sucks, regardless of you "winning".
Also all my grass is covered in snow so I can't go out and touch it :(

Anyone using DH exclusively to try to dodge a killers hits has no idea how to actually use DH. If the killer has gotten that close to you and you're just trying to dodge, you screwed up and didn't use DH right.
Players using DH wrong are not the players killers complain about when they talk about why it's such a devastating perk to go against.

Yeah my bad, I can admit when I’m wrong. Honestly never noticed the icon 😅
Happens to the best of us!
Not me obviously cause I'm perfect :D
But everyone else! :P
-
The only plus is that you get an icon if someone is running it so you can know as soon as you pick someone up if it's going to be a problem or not. So you don't really need to pretend like everyone is running it and play around it as you'll know the second you pick someone up if it's in play.

You can't abuse it.
I talked about it in another thread as a survivor with Boil Over would just run to a spot where they knew I couldn't hook them
@tippy2k2 said:
Oooooh, got my first survivor abusing it!
Father Campbell's Chapel as the survivor with Boiled over just kept running upstairs when I went after them. And since the basement spawned in the killer shack, there was no way to get the person from the top level to a hook.
Yay, I'm one of the cool killers now!!!!
If you want to argue semantics over the word "abuse" or not, go for it I guess but the survivor clearly knew what they were doing when they constantly ran up to that area where they knew I literally would be unable to hook them.

This, only basically the opposite. Those 3k gens Hella Hella add up.
Weird.
I actually ended up farming this team a bit. Someone brought an Anniversary Cake so I go into Nice Killer Mode and intend to not Death Hook anyone. Well Survivor 1 decided to Tbag me so for his crime, he was murdered (Hope all that BP you lost was worth it survivor but I'm sure 13,000 points with only one gen done was totally what you were hoping for when you used that Cake!). Survivor 2 for whatever reason killed themselves on the hook (presumably didn't realize I had no intention of killing them all and just gave up instead of getting as many points as he could but whatevs, no skin off my nose). Survivors 3 and 4 though I let do their gens and leave. The highest scoring survivor got 30,000ish points (survivor 2 who also survived got 28000) and I got 48,049 points.
-
I've only played a handful of games but so far at least it seems like it's fine. Every time I've played (as survivor or as killer), the killer has outscored everyone.
-
It's what I'd do
If they want to cry about it, it'll fall on deaf ears. Lie there and think about why you're on a timeout.
-
I don't think I'm going to adjust my perks to deal with Boil Over but I am almost certainly going to adjust my "not nice" killer side if people are abusing it and let them lie around on the floor and think about what they've done if they're going to abuse it (like constantly running up to second floors where you can't hook people and whatnot)
You were a naughty survivor so you need to lie there and think about why you're being punished survivor!
-
It's been exceptionally slow today.
-
You know what that means!
Holly would thank you herself but she a sleepy kitty

I know Stretch Res can give you a huge advantage but at what cost? :D
I'll take my chances and dump my Game Boy Color graphics...
-
It is against the rules to do so but it's not against the rules to "accidentally" try to get in a locker to hide yourself when the killer is looking at you...
-
I don't really main a survivor. Generally I choose one person, eat up all their good items and offerings, then move on to another. Currently Jill.
Killers it's Oni and Leatherface. I like having one shot abilities and these two have the most reliable one shots but like survivor, I'm constantly changing killer (it's rare I will play two games in a row with the same killer unless I have a specific reason like a Daily or Tome). But those two (and Plague because she's super fun) are the main one's I gravitate to.
-
You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means
The event does look kind of meh but kind of meh seems to be this games modus apparatus at this point so whatcha gonna do?
-
People complain because SBMM is just kind of awful in just about every way. They make their voices heard because they hope The Devs will change their mind.
-
BHVR can clarify all they want but until they get a reporting system that doesn't belong in the 90s, let alone 2022, it's not going to matter.
I've used the report system once. It takes so long and you have to do so much to report someone that I could play one (maybe even two or three matches if it's a genrush game) that I don't even bother to do it anymore. I'm not going to waste my precious free time swatting some cheatbot that is going to pop up again five minutes after they finally get banned because it costs dollars to buy another cheat account.
-
I...guess?
Like, yeah, if you're a bad player, it doesn't matter what you are running. Perks can't make up for your lack of talent.
The issue with all the meta perks is that in the hands of even a competent player or team, they can break the game.
-
I doubt anyone would ever use them. There's always bound to be some players who don't care but I imagine the vast majority would just lobby dodge someone if they know there's a good chance they're going to DC. Who is going to label themselves as a possible DC (even if they have a very good reason) if it's going to take them forever to get into a game?
-
*Happy Chainsaw Noises*
-
Given all the other cosmetic crap BHVR monetizes, I'm a little surprised this isn't an option already
You can keep the core setup of the basement (two lockers at the entrance and two lockers across from each other in the back with a chest somewhere) but you'd think there would be plenty of opportunity to do other customization. Even if it's just on the walls or something like that. Have a Pinhead basement where the ceiling and walls are just covered in chains. Have a Demodoggo basement that is all sticky and gross. Have a Legion basement that is nothing but poop.
The possibilities are endless!
-
They've talked about doing that
I have zero idea why they haven't actually done that. I can't imagine it's hard to input something to the effect of "if Role A has a X minute wait and Role B is instant, make it so that if people play Role B they get X free BP/X% extra BP for playing that side".
I have no idea if it would actually fix as it would be a band-aid over someone's bloody stump where their leg was before stepping in The Trapper's sneaky traps but some kind of baby steps have to be taken at some point...
-
The first survivor quitting when there are 5 gens left is a giant baby. There are very few situations where I think someone should be able to just give up and not be considered a giant baby (like I've had games where I was hooked first, the killer took a step away, and someone farmed me right off the hook directly in the killers face and didn't even have the courtesy of a BT. If the killer chooses to go after me, I will just let him hit me in that situation because I'll be damned if I'll get a 10 second chase and give that jerk "Safe Rescue" points).
Anyone else who quits/gives up after that gets a pass. It's certainly not impossible to win 3 v 1 when there are still 3-5 gens left but it's damn difficult and usually kind of miserable so I understand why someone might just toss the towel and move on to the next game.
-
I'm really hoping for some kind of rework. If they can make his reveal mechanic actually work, a slight rework would be acceptable but I have zero faith that they'll be able to figure it out. In that case, I'd like a complete rework of his powers. Right now as a survivor, it feels like you can be starring GF in the face and no reveal will happen and as Ghostface, it feels like if the survivor can see the edge of one of your little robe ropes, they reveal you.
Not to mention I absolutely hate that stupid 99 system. I don't feel like GF is being a very sneaky stalky killer when he's right on my ass and then goes into sneaky mode for half a second so he can hit me.
