This is an international ruling, it was voted on and passed through by all 3 segments of the US federal government.
Ok, good to know. Thank you for the info! I don't pay enough attention to the news, too depressing. Usually the important things like this I'd still catch but this somehow slipped through unnoticed.

I proclaimed it trash, as mentioned a few posts above.
Well you said it was an amendment to the constitution. Has it gone through The House and Senate yet? Do they have the votes? If it does go through, will Biden veto it?
Also does this ruling affect the international market or is this ruling strictly a US ruling?
So many questions!!!

Give hooked survivors Emblem and Bloodpoints for Killer too close to the hook. So this doesnt fix camping as much as mitigate the loss of the survivor and possibly a less likely or self murder as they are just delaying their death, boringly, for 0 incentive. One thing that makes camping valuable is the survivor dying prematurely due to dc, self rescue attempt, or purposeful failed skill check. Like if this is a fair tactic then the survivor is wasting 2 minutes of the killers time by staying alive so emblem and bp should be awarded.
This doesnt affect killers in any way but incentivizes survivors to stay alive while being camped making camping less profitable.
1000000%
As a solo queue player, it sucks seeing someone get camped because I know there's a 50/50 shot they're just gonna kill themselves on the hook, rendering the one chance we have DOA. But they have no incentive except being kind to us strangers to sit there and waste two minutes of their life.
I really wish people getting camped got something for it.

I know I am very annoyed because I can't use lightborn because survivors said so. I was only doing a rift challenge that requires lightborn, enduring, and tinkerer
But you can use Lightborn. You just reply to those complaints the same way I reply to anyone whining about some injustice I did (or didn't do but still got yelled at for it)

How are campers griefing? I don't like camping, I think it's a cheap way to play that is zero fun to go against - but it's hardly griefing.
I also agree that BHVR needs to make it less effective a strategy (they agree too) - but the question is: how?
How do you 'fix' camping without breaking the game?
Your bottom line has been the biggest issue with "fixing camping" forever and I have yet to hear an answer that isn't either abusable or would hurt innocent killers who are not camping.
I've heard suggestions to try to give the killer incentives to leave like BP or whatnot but if a killer WANTS to camp you, no incentive is ever going to get them to leave and as stated above, I've yet to hear a punishment that would be fair/not abusable.
-
Who made it official? Was there a committee? If there was a committee, was there a town hall or some way for the community to have their say? Or is this one of those "Voted Best X in the industry" where it's some random organization that has no authority or power that declared it X?
I just want to make sure I have all the information on this official ruling.
-
-
Solo queue can just be incredibly frustrating. I took this picture last night to whine at my DBD buddy so it's not a great pic as I had no intention of sharing it wide but since the topic is here ...
While it's not common to be THIS bad, this seems to happen more often than not. As a solo queue player, you get the games RNG AND the RNG of getting awful/bad teammates. As nice as it might be, there is always going to be some reliance on your team to be competent and too often, you just don't get that.
I'm not here to complain because I fully understand and I go in to survivor games assuming I will die but it can be very irksome to carry the entire team on your back and still get nothing for it because I died, therefore I had no skill.
-
I've played as her once and against her once
Against her, I got zero condemnation. Granted, she only teleported twice so maybe I need to play against her more to see it.
The survivors I played against were baby survivors. By the end, I was teleporting all around like damn Nightcrawler to see if I could get condemnation to do anything but it never did.
It just kind of seems like it's there but has no real bearing on the match. Again I've only played with her in play twice so maybe that was just bad luck but based on what I've seen of her, condemnation seems to never come into play.
-
I can't speak for others but I find her painfully boring to play as. She's not QUITE boring enough where she's on my "I'm never playing as you list" but basically unless a Daily or an Archive requires it, I rarely if ever play The Hag.

If it takes them 5 years to add in a colorblind mode (which almost every single modern game ships standard with) I don't think you can say they care.
They clearly cared about the backlash, but if they cared it would've been in the game in Year 2, not Year 5.
Likewise, there has been talk of flashlight macro's being detrimental to people's health for YEARS. They give me a headache, but nothing as dire as what OP described. There is Z E R O reason to allow people to spam click a flashlight tens of times a second.
This isn't an us vs them. This isn't a "wah, clicky clicky flashlight." This is a legitimate need. Either BHVR needs to actually put photosensitivity warnings in their game (they do) or they need to stop people from input spamming their flashlight.
The thread has been absolutely derailed by people arguing over who is to blame for this (and I expect it to bury my attempt to resurrect your post) but you're 100% correct
There is literally 0 reason for macros to be allowed and should be something that is fixed. This was true before this post, is currently true, and will be true long after this post is dead and buried.
The health concerns to me make it a higher priority to get as soon as possible. This isn't some "killers are just whining over a unfair mechanic", there are legit health concerns over this. For the vast majority that health concern is maybe a mild headache after repeat exposure but why even have that in the game when it's something so easily dealt with AND has no gameplay basis for being in the game?

Xbox Series X (Crossplay on)
Got the game when I got Gamepass (so I suppose I "technically" also "own" it on PC but have never played it)
-
When CoH was introduced, there was a big spike in NOED (since so many people ran CoH, many survivors completely blew off ever breaking totems).
That feels like it has cooled down as of late so I'm thinking you were just unlucky. I haven't noticed NOED more often than usual (which is once every five or sixish games give or take).
-
It's especially annoying as (while rare), there are survivors where all they do is run into the areas with the now broken hooks (and given some of the maps and sometimes awful RNG luck, you can get areas where ONLY one hook is available to you).
It doesn't happen enough where I'm going to get my pitchfork out and demand that BHVR changes the mechanic but it does seem silly now to have that kind of a mechanic. Maybe there is a really good reason for it though and I just don't know it...
-
Not often but I'm on console so no one really goes through the effort of sending one another messages all that often
I did have one person who did message me that they were going to report me for hacking because they weren't able to leave the exit gates so therefore I must have been hacking
I feel like they probably should have just hovered over that "Bloodwarden" perk of mine to see what it did...
-
Developing anticheat cost money. BHVR seems to believe that spending that money isn't worth the time and/or effort.

Do you think you could grab a clip and show me?
You've probably seen someone else do this by now on The Internet Dot Com (and maybe this doesn't even count at this point since I obviously gave up a few seconds in since I knew if I tried to drop at that point, I was screwed) but I finally got someone who used Boil Over on a map that had a door that got me stuck in said door and snagged a clip of it :D
https://twitter.com/tippy2k2/status/1500109418507259904I was holding forward that entire time just trying to get through the damn door but couldn't. As I stated earlier, this is incredibly rare thankfully but it does still happen with Boil Over and that extreme sway (at least it still happens to me and my controller).
-
The falling down part was nerfed but the rest of it remained (Namely the stupid amount of side to side wiggle it causes, which is hell on controller players).
I can't say one way or the other if they were cheating since obviously I was not there but subtle cheats have absolutely risen in popularity lately and BHVR seems to have no interest in doing anything about it so...
-
Nope! Unless they snuck it in while I wasn't looking...
But to my knowledge, we stuck with it

To my knowledge, that is exactly how it is "supposed" to work.
Basically let's say Level 0 is brand new noob killer who has never played before and Level 100 is God-mode. If you are Level 100 God-mode with every killer except for Bob the Builder, when you go to play as Bob the Builder, it doesn't have you at 100 but it also doesn't have you at 0 either. I don't know the exact numbers (and I don't believe BHVR has ever stated exactly what it means) but the assumption is that if you know how to play other killers, you still have a baseline skill of some kind with killers and therefore your lowest ranking would be like...50 instead of 0.
Whether it's fair or not (which granted, for many killers the basics are indeed the same but like...I have no idea how to play Nurse and I am almost certainly never going to learn since my "base" ranking is always going to put me up against at least decent survivors), that's how BHVR sees it.
-
If a killer wants you dead, there is very little you as an individual can do about it.
When I'm on someone's team and I can see they're getting tunneled, I do my best to step in and take a hit. Hell, if we're doing well enough, I'll step in enough that I will take a down and hope that the tunnel'ed person can escape if they have 15ish seconds to get out of the area.
If I am the person being tunneled, I just last as long as I can. I'm solo so I know that unless someone on my team notices and acts like I do, I'm likely on my own and just need to try to kill as much time as I can and hope that is enough to help my team out.
-
I don't care that you broke your elbow!
...wait
360ing killers is a stupid mechanic that shouldn't be in the game, especially because most 360 misses are not caused by the player but by the poor autoaim/dress aiming/whatever you want to call that crap that makes the game think I wanted to snack that rock instead of the survivor twirling around like a ballerina.
-
As soon as I know Boil Over is in play, I look for the nearest hook BEFORE I pick up the survivor.
If I am hitting about the 15 second mark, I just drop them and let them be slugged. I don't like to do that as slugging I find is boring for both sides but if I can't reliably get survivors to hooks, I'll do what I have to to at least get some kind of pressure out of this circumstance
Unfortunately that's about all I can offer you. Luckily Boil Over has gone the way of the niche perk and will very rarely come out to play anymore (unless it's a bully squad but you deal with Boil Over bully squads the same way you deal with most bully squads and let them play "Lie here on the floor" simulator). You can put on perks like Via above stated but personally I'm not going to burn a perk slot just because BHVR forgets that they make a PC AND a console game...

The only thing I'd change is removing the cooldown when a hook hasn't been sabotaged. It's like a killer losing Pop after they get hit with Blastmine because they kicked the gen to trigger it but didn't successfully damage the gen.
That would also be nice as sabotage and heal are the same button. I've gotten better at double checking but many a sabo chances have been lost when I pull someone off the hook only to start sabotaging the hook instead of healing them. It always felt dum that I now lost my sabo for 60 seconds.
-
I don't think lying to everyone would work as it would be glaringly obvious BHVR has a cheating problem once you've played it for a bit after they "fix" it.
Also, I for one don't think people are "throwing temper tantrums" when hackers are taking games hostage, screwing up legit games with suble hacks, and if rumors are to be believed, able to DDOS players for trying to play the game that they spent money on. Is "I can't play the game because of hackers, BHVR should do...well... ANYTHING about it" a unreasonable request?

Why is everyone getting matched with Sluzzy??
I imagine it is less that everyone is paired with Sluzzy and more that Sluzzy is a very recognizable person on the forum who also has the same user name in game.
It's almost certain we've all gone against (or with) each other in this game but we just didn't realize it. My name on here and DBD is similar (Tippy2k2 vs Tippy2K) but I wouldn't expect people to notice me.

Beating out someone(s) being a toxic jerkface
On killer, I specifically run Bloodwarden as there is no better feeling than the F Around survivors T-bagging at the gates, jumping through windows, and being unsporting clowns at the end game only for me to catch one who flew a little too close to the sun and now the entire team gets to Find Out. It is a rare occurrence but I run BW specifically because when it does happen, it's literally the best feeling in this game.
While depending on the situation it might not necessarily be toxic but saving someone by the skin of your teeth from a camping killer is always super great. You get the full team to swarm the hook and play in sync to save the one person still stuck up there (even though at least I'm solo so there's no communication on my part) and everyone plays their role perfectly to save someone.

There's risk involved with either strategy
Personally I will 99 a door and then either go to the other door to 99 it as well or since I run Bond, I commonly will try to find the person who is currently being chased (if I see with Bond they're coming to the door, I then have the option to go back to the door to open it or if I don't think they're gonna make it, I can attempt to step in and take the hit while the injured person taps the door for the open).
That said, if I choose to open the door, the survivors are now on the clock. If the injured survivor is just about to get smacked down, that's not a huge deal since the timer will pause but it happens plenty of times where the survivor is running the killer well but is on the wrong side of the map. There's really no getting away when you're that far away and now that crunch time I just put us in has a good chance of getting (at least) one of us killed. That's not even factoring in bloodwarden...
I've 99'ed the doors and had it save us all. I've 99'ed doors and had it kill us all. I've opened the doors and saved us all. I've opened the doors and killed us all. There is no real good "one size fits all" decision in the EGC so all you can do is what you feel is best in the given situation. Personally I've found 99ing the door but hanging around it with Bond has been the best option so that's what I do.

I'm positive most of the player base knows how to report players properly, but the process is just soooooooo loooooong to file a single report.
I would be shocked if it were 75% (I would wager it's even higher amount of people)
Ultimately neither of us can really prove it one way or the other but the game itself gives ZERO indication that you have to do more than just click the "Thumbs Down".
Unless you specifically look for information on how to actually report (and why would you as the game doesn't tell you there is more you need to do and there's no reason for a player to think that BHVR is some special case where you need to do more than just click on the report button like every other game that has ever existed in the history of the world), players have no way to know that clicking the Thumbs Down button isn't enough to actually report someone.
Being generous, I would guess that 75% of the playerbase doesn't know everything you need to do in order to report someone and of the 25% that DO know how to, at least half of them don't bother. I know I don't bother as trying to report on Xbox is such a hassle that I can literally play (at least) one game before I finish the stupid essay I have to write to report someone...

I'm not even sure this is picking at scars. This is picking at a small cut you had five years ago on the other arm.
Did BHVR handle the situation less than ideal? Yes, I don't think anyone would argue otherwise. But at this point, the fix is in and everything that was wanted has been implemented.
If color blind mode was still missing I could see wanting to dig this back up but everything is up and running as requested so I really don't see the point of digging this back up...

That's what I meant by "record"; the server wouldn't create a video. It'd just log all the inputs and events which can then be used to recreate or interpret what happened in the match. And given the server is receiving and disseminating all this information already, it's not like it's beyond the server's ability to record this.
Gotcha
A video recording system would be ideal (if for any other reason, let us watch our own games and how we did) but a game log shouldn't be any issue at all for them to internally do
-
@PlaysByShady said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2828828#Comment_2828828
Absolutely. There's no technical reason why the server cannot "record" the match and save it if there's a report made, which can then subject it to various simple checks (e.g. did a survivor move with impossible speed, etc)
Even if they don't do a video recording for some reason, you'd think something as basic as a game log would be doable.
"Hey boss, according to this, that survivor ran 40mph at the 2 minute mark and flew through the air like Superman while instantly healing everyone around them. That sounds suspicious, right?"
Sure, I suppose you'd then need video evidence of more gray stuff (like a survivor working with a killer) but cheaters and hackers are killing the player base and this would (or should) greatly help against that kind of thing (and against subtle hacking since it's hard to tell even in video if a survivor is running slightly faster than they should be able to).

I've had survivors stand still bodyblock me, I wait a few seconds and smack them back down.
I've found that it's a coin flip. Some realize I'm not moving and run while others stand there and stare back.
Sometimes they have DS so maybe they just accept losing their DS but hey, I'll make that trade survivor as now you don't get your shield come EGC.
-
When that happens to me, I enjoy trying to get past them but then just stopping and doing that funny "slowly turn and stare at the survivor" move.
I always wonder if the bodyblocking survivor stops and thinks "...I done F'ed up". I have to assume they knew this was a risk so maybe they just accept their fate at that point.
As others have stated, I do my very best to play in a "sporting" way with no tunneling or camping but if you're going to force my hand, I'm going to have zero qualms about "tunneling" your bodyblocking ass...

I wouldn't want the game to ban people without evidence.
The point is that WE shouldn't have to be the ones to provide evidence. There is no reason that a multiplayer game in The Year of Our Lord Bubba 2022 should require anyone to have to use an outside program in order to report someone for breaking the rules. This garbage reporting system would be embarrassing in the 90s, let alone 2022...

How bad am I then when I have Bubba games that go completely sideways and everybody butt dances their way out of the gate while I sadly look at them from off in the distance, a single tear rolling down my leathery face after it snuck out through the eye hole...

You're not wrong but it's kinda insane to think they are just doing this stuff in public lobbies not even trying to hide it anymore because they just don't fear behavior kinda wild.
Honestly, it might be incredibly smart
I've said this before with this process but I would wager that (at last) 75% of the Dead by Daylight playerbase has no idea all the hoops you have to do to "properly" report someone. So if all these people are flooding the report queue with reports on the super obvious hacker but not filling out the 30 minute paperwork, video evidence, blood of your first born, and showing BHVR that you can pat your head and rub your tummy for at least 30 seconds at the same time, that's taking BHVR resources away from going after the "properly" done reports.
It's kind of genius really. Or maybe I'm just giving them too much credit and they just know that BHVR has such a stupidly archaic report system that they can flaunt it as much as they want and they'll know it won't hurt them.
-
What is there to be afraid of? BHVR might ban them in a few weeks and they'll turn around and start up their couple dozen other free Epic Accounts or pay under $5 to get a new hacker account and be able to run around rampant for another few weeks until that account finally gets banned and they'll turn around and...

Yes. I was pleasantly surprised. I was the Elodie....I dont have same name as forum.
It's a shame too because I play as Bubba a lot and many people just assume that means I'm going to facecamp them and they start to kill themselves on the hook before I get the chance to attempt to leave. Bubba himself is a strong killer (At least a B Tier against a really good group of survivors, if not higher depending on how lucky you get with the map) but he has such a poor reputation because new players and facecamping players gravitate towards him because he's damn near unstoppable for the 1K minimum if they decide to just facecamp their opponent.
He's one of the few killers that I feel like you should be afraid of when running from as a killer while ALSO feeling completely (or at least mostly) fair in his powers. I do kind of wish BHVR could figure out how to deal with straight facecamping Bubba's but I've yet to hear a way to do this without either making him a crappier Billy or hamstringing his abilities so badly that he's rendered a M1 killer.
