Neither is to run no mither as you said before, but whatever 😂If you get caught a lot yea. If you run Resil and play smart not really. Resil let's you do everything faster including vaults so it does make a difference.

I always have Dead Hard equipped, so when I run into a moon walking Legion, I usually go back into his LOS and Dead Hard away, and usually by the amount of time he wastes he either gives up or all gens get done and I escape anyway.Another option is to run past a window then circle around into the killer's FOV and vault the window. If you time it right they won't be able to react in time and you just triggered another chase. Now they have to either vault the window to chase you (giving you a chance to hide and mend) or stop moonwalking to get your trail again (keeping the chase going). Though it's not a great solution it can help to make the chase longer at least.

Let's say your teammates aren't the smartest ones on DbD, you get hooked and all 3 come to rescue you. No one is doing gens, meaning less chances to get the hatch.
The main point is that survival rate is way higher when survivors cooperate and are organized.
You help yourself by helping others.Like that can help sure, but from my experience your survival is 90% based on your own actions. The only time other survivors affect your survival is if they sandbag you or do something seriously stupid like save you right in front of the killer. If you play stealthy at the start you can make sure 2 gens get done so you can hatch.

You forgot to list it as TOTH/BoP. It almost doesn't matter which you pick, though I think BoP is a better choice because it's a flat rate all the time, whereas TOTH can vary based on how many totems are on the map.

"Looping" a killer around the basement house on Haddonfield (the one with the gen downstairs, not the Myers house) even though I dropped the pallet at the start of the chase and then he broke it, breaking the loop. Whiffs 4 times, and lost me twice (only kept finding me because I kept going back on the gen when he was near). Finally catches me after 3 gens, then he camps me to teach me a lesson for being "toxic" when it was actually me outplaying him. Proceeds to tell me that toxicity is "taken" not "given", as if I'm in control what other people think.

@Vietfox said:
I play this game in a really smart way, i'm aware of gens locations to not end up with 3 gens close to each other and common sense is what makes me survive, but Kindred isn't for me, is for the other survivors. As you might know already you don't know how smart/dumb will be the other ones when playing solo, so it's way better if you give them some clues. You still don't need it. If you play smart you will outlive other survivors and take the hatch. The problem with potato survivors is they have no balls, Kindred doesn't really fix that. If they are too scared to come save they won't save. Kindred is mainly a counter to camping. You could argue that survivors could see if other survivors are in a chase, but even with auras that's not always clear unless they drop a pallet. The only time it's 100% clear is when someone takes a hit, which the HUD tells you anyway.

I would rather more control stick options than just a flat sensitivity increase. Give us options to adjust dead zones and aim acceleration. That would make more of a difference.

No one asked it to be basekit, and it looks like BHVR scrapped the idea anyway so don't bring it up, no reason to blow up the thread.
Yea I re-read the OP and saw he didn't actually ask for it in base kit. But my point still stands that you don't need Kindred or aura perks at all to play well and escape. You just need game sense.

You don't need Kindred as a solo player. I've been playing No Mither, without aura/info perks, at rank 1 all month. SOLO. And I've escaped plenty of times, and if not I am almost always the last to die. All you need is a good understanding of the game, specifically of killer, to play well.

You say the counterplay is to 99% all the gens and then pop them all at once so everyone can escape ASAP and the one with the trap can take the hatch. Rules Set No. 2 does not make that any more difficult, base kit or otherwise. No it makes it MANDATORY. Difficulty has nothing to do with it. Right now you can do that OR not do gens and focus on the trap. If Ruleset 2 was base kit, then the second part isn't actually an option.
-
I actually find it hilarious how people say flashlight click or teabagging is toxic. No it's not. It's a mind game, where you are purposely trying to get the killer's attention. Yea a lot of killers take it as a sign of disrespect, which is why they get angry, but these sorts of things have existed in games since forever. Making your opponent angry is a way to get them to mess up. Studies have shown that when you are angry you are more likely to take risks, and it's those risks that you're capitalizing on. As long as you can say GG at the end of the game, it's all fine. It only becomes toxic when the player takes it too personal and then reciprocates, usually in post game chat.
Like you guys should go watch some Gears of War eSport matches. These guys will say the nastiest things to each other, to the point that TC/MS had to step in for Gears 4 and lay down some rules on what you can and cannot say (namely you can't use the word "#########", among the obvious racial slurs and such). They SCREAM this stuff at each other all throughout the game, as a means to get into the opponent's head and mess them up. But when the game ends, they all shake hands and go back to being best friends, like nothing ever happened.
Sorry but if you take these actions personally then you're the toxic one.

Another thing I forgot to mention: What stops you from 99ing all the gens, popping them all at once, and then taking the hatch after everyone leaves if RSN2 becomes base kit? You can still do that just as efficiently as you could before. And if the Pig decides to run Letter + Will to do that to two people (which, AGAIN, she could do already), she can't do that without leaving the boxes unguarded for the first one to search once they can see the boxes.Everything "broken" scenario you've described either is barely affected by RSN2 or is preferrable to something that can already be done now without it. It seems like the common theme among your arguments is "Rules Set No. 2 is the lynchpin to a bunch of these OP scenarios," which I find to be inaccurate for the aforementioned reason. The only points you've really made that doesn't fall under that is "RSN2 wastes too much time to be base kit," to which I say no because RBTs normally waste not enough time on average and RSN2 increases that by an acceptable amount, and "you should use an add-on if you want to waste more time," to which I also say no because the Pig has too many not good add-ons that need to be buffed/reworked anyways.
Dude... have you ever actually tried to do all 4 boxes with Ruleset 2 and not doing a gen first? Because it seems to me like you never actually played against it and tried to do this. It's like looking for all the totems, it is a serious time waster. Easily a game losing time sink. The counter play to traps is to not do gens and do boxes instead, but forcing them to do gens with Ruleset 2 takes away that counter play. And yes, Ruleset 2 on it's own or in combination with 1 other add-on is not OP. But Ruleset 2 combined with 2 other add-ons, especially JP + TT/CoG, is OP.
You just want easier/more frequent trap kills or free time sinks. That's what Ruleset 2 would do, whether you want to believe or not, that's what would happen and they weren't meant to be that powerful.
Fact of the matter is, there are very few add-ons that should be base kit. Ruleset 2 is definitely not one of them.

He's talking about infinite tier 3 not tombstone.
IMO infinite tier 3 needs some other drawback. It's really lame that you get unlimited one shot. People saying "oh it takes a while to build up" not really. It's like mildly longer, and once you have it that's it.
Remove the faster vault from tier 3 and make it increase his TR by 10m (when using inf tier 3, not from base Myers). Maybe also increase the amount he needs to earn.

@Orion pretty much summed it up. Not every console player is a peasant. A console peasant is someone who refuses to acknowledge the objective superiority of the PC platform and attempts to propagate lies surrounding PC Gaming because they are ignorant or refuse to listen to facts when challenged on the topic. And a PC elitist is someone that actually thinks consoles can't run a game as good as their masterfully built PC. Newsflash, consoles can run most games on the highest settings just fine. Like I said earlier, I can play Gears 4 in 4k 60 FPS on my Xbox One X (though I don't own a 4k TV, it can run it). The problem is, particularly with games like DBD, is that the devs don't put in the time to actually optimize the game for console platforms. My X could easily run DBD on the absolute highest settings at like 120 FPS, but if BHVR locks the frame rate and builds the game to just function on the console then it doesn't matter what my console is able to do and the game plays worse than on PC.
Hell, if you look at first party Nintendo games they look amazing and run great. Because those games are built for those platforms. But then throw a port onto it and it will look/run like crap because the developers of the game didn't build the game on that platform, and put in just enough effort for it to run at the bare minimum.
I won't deny that a PC can potentially be more powerful than a console. But you need to realize that just because a game runs/looks bad on console is not EXPLICITLY because of the console's ability to run the game. It's because the game wasn't built or optimized for that platform.

Especially premonition is great for any stealth build. If you know where the killer is coming from, you can position yourself very well and hide from him.
The thing with Prem is that if you play enough killer and understand what a killer is doing you don't need it 99% of the time. You can just track the killer yourself. The only time it would be super useful is if it's like Pig or Wraith and you are in a very vulnerable position where they can sneak up on you.

Regarding Distortion, I haven't actually tried it out so I don't know how well it works or if it's too situational. It's the most effective way to see what aura perks or add-ons the killer is using. It also let's you know when you are and are not within BBQ range. It's not at all situational, but you need to use lockers or standard tactics to avoid auras in order to maintain tokens for when you need them. If you just let them go each time there is a hook then it's a bit of a waste, depending on what you do when it procs. I let 1 token go for the first hook just to see if they have BBQ, then I try to save the others for when I really need them. I try to save 1 token for the end, so I could run to a gate and not worry about BBQ.
The only thing I wish Distortion had was a sound effect when it procs, like Prem or something. Because there are times where a lot is going on then all of a sudden I'm 1 less token and trying to figure out what aura perk it was that used it.

It does? I can't just look for the boxes anyways? Didn't know RSN2 prevents me from looking for the boxes to take the traps off anyways. You must be mistakenly thinking of Rules Set No. 3, the one that blows up my collar if my generator repair speed falls under 25 miles per hour.Looking for the boxes without the auras is like looking for the totems. You waste a TON of time just looking around the map. Time that Pig shouldn't get UNLESS she uses an add-on. RBT wastes time by forcing you to do something other than gens. You're asking that they waste significantly MORE time on top of that, for free.
And that is how it should be. Either waste lots of time or run the risk. You're describing benefits that should be given to the Pig.
No you waste time doing the boxes, not looking for them. If you want to add time to that by making survivors look for the boxes then you need to... wait for it... use an add-on! What a concept.

What frustrates me is that my Xbox One X could probably run the game better than 99% of PC's out there. But since the game wasn't built for this platform I'm stuck with 30 FPS until the optimization patch comes out.
If you were triggered by that let me ask, can your PC run Gears 4 in 4k 60FPS?
No? Didn't think so. Checkmate.
Yes? How much money did you dump into it? Probably like $2000 or something. I paid $500. Checkmate.

Actually, I have invested into the Xbox One X and it's the equivalent to a PC. Perfect 60 FPS except on certain maps like Haddon Field. Nurse is actually playable believe or not but I cannot speak for those who don't have the most powerful console in the market.Hate to break it to you Nick, but even the X doesn't run the game at 60 FPS. It's locked to 30 FPS because they have to build for the lowest specs, which is the base Xbox. It does indeed run better than a normal Xbox, but frame drops are still a real issue.

If it wasted his time, that sounds like it should be base kit, then.
Also, I force RBT kills every handful of games as Pig, so special treat my coiled tail.
Yea he wasted SIGNIFICANTLY MORE TIME by running around looking for boxes. It's like looking for totems. The time waste comes from the need to do the boxes, not from looking for the boxes. If you want that extra time waste you need to use Ruleset 2.
-
@TAG said:
You can already just do that without Rules Set No. 2. They find the first box, and if it's wrong, you just sit in front of the other box. Rules Set No. 2 does not increase the chances of that working. It forces you to do a gen, so yes it does increase the chance of it working. If I wasn't forced to do a gen, we could 99 all the gens and do them all at once, everyone else leaves and I take hatch. That would be the counter play to this tactic. If I can't see how many boxes there are until I do a gen I can't reliably counter play this. It also gives you the chance to use Last Will and do that to 2 people.
You just want to have your cake and eat it too. Ruleset 2 should NOT be base kit.

The bags should give him extra traps at the start and increase the total number of traps he can carry at a time.Pungent Phial should be base for Huntress, at least when she has =<50% hatchets left.
That's about it. All other add-ons are too strong to be put into base kits, or at the very least negate the need for add-ons of that type.
Imma have to disagree on Rules Set No. 2 being too good to be put into base kit. The main thing it does is increase the amount of time Survivors waste while their timer is inactive. I think that's the sort of thing that helps the RBT fulfill the purpose the devs intended for it without diluting its potential to actually make good on its allure to MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE kill someone. I think it's a good buff to just naturally give to the Pig.
Traps aren't meant to kill someone. They are meant to slow the game. Ruleset 2 is too powerful to make it part of the base kit. They shouldn't have to do a gen and trigger the trap to see boxes. If you can't see how strong that is maybe you need to play against a Pig with Ruleset 2 a bit.
But Rules Set No. 2 DOES slow the game down. It does not make the RBTs more lethal, only better at wasting time, which is exactly what the devs want. I've used Rules Set No. 2 multiple times, and I can't see how it would be too strong at base kit. Explain to me what makes it too strong if it's only active when the traps are not capable of killing the wearer?
If you run Amanda's Letter it would be near impossible to find both boxes on certain maps without spending all game looking around. I'm basically forced to do a gen. I do, then do 1 box. You go body block the other box. Since you don't need to waste a perk slot for Ruleset 2, you can put on Last Will and be able to do this twice to someone. That's super lame. If you had to take 2 add-ons to do this, it's still a bit lame BUT you can only do it once, so there is some trade-off.
Ruleset 2 forces you to do a gen to activate the trap. What if you had Jigsaw's Plan and Tampered Timer/Crate of Gears? I would also be effectively screwed by that. There would be no counter to those add-on combos. You just put a trap on someone, force them to do a gen, and they die to the trap because they have to do all the boxes perfectly or they die. Right now I can counter these add-ons by just not doing gens, which is... drum roll... slowing the game down.
-
BW is fine as is. The perk lights up when a gate is open, which is the signal you should hook. If you down someone at end game and hook them before it lights up that's your mistake. Slug them and chase someone else for a moment until you see BW light up, THEN hook them.
This coming from someone that actually uses BW on a bunch of their killers.

Regarding the "bonus for rank 1 at reset" thing, what that will do is just make people stop playing a day or two before reset once they get rank 1. There are probably better solutions here.
As for the BP reward yes that will help, but the issues people that derank seem to have are 1) queue times and 2) killer variety at high rank. Giving rewards won't really change 2, and 1 I think is a byproduct of the way the game prioritizes smaller groups over bigger groups. Like right now, on Xbox, I'm sitting in a lobby with a 4 man SWF for about 10 minutes looking for a game. We found 1 game against a rank 2 Clown before and it took a while to get the game. But I know, for a fact, if I go to play solo or we split into pairs we will find games super fast. (As I typed this we found a game, but then we got dodged BTW)
Hopefully when dedicated servers come out, and we get that thing where survivors are put together BEFORE finding a killer, it will solve the queue time issues.
However fixing 2 will be a lot more challenging. It comes from this idea that Nurse/Billy are the only viable killers at high ranks, and therefore people refuse to even try to experiment. Additionally, because they are the strongest killers, if someone isn't THAT good of a killer to be at rank 1, they get a mild boost from the strength of these 2 to be able to play at rank 1. Outright buffing/reworking killers I don't think would solve this problem, at least not without creating more problems in the process. Survivor nerfs are another option, but that too brings problems. Probably the only way to fix this is to just find ways to change the communities perspective on what constitutes a viable rank 1 killer. Maybe having separate ranks for separate killers could work, with some cross-over so that you can't be a rank 1 Billy and a rank 18 Hag, which would obviously be unfair to those survivors if that player chooses Hag, even if they aren't AS GOOD with Hag as they are with Billy they are still an overall good killer. So in this case, if you are a rank 1 Billy and never play Hag, you would be something like a rank 8 Hag. That gives people incentive to play other killers that may not be strong enough to compete at rank 1, or at the very least that player isn't good enough with that killer to use at rank 1.
It's a very difficult problem to solve. I hope BHVR comes up with something just to ease the community's angst over the situation.

I've seen laggy survivors, and while they do seem to skip around at a faster pace eventually that lag will bite them in the ass because the moment you get close they can't do anything to avoid you. Killer has host so there's not really a way they can cheese the connection in their favor, since your game is basically in command of everything. If you lagswitch as survivor you are just an idiot because it will do nothing for you, except get you a ban when reported.
-
There should be a limit to how much you can derank. It's practically impossible to legitimately derank more than like 2 ranks (that's like 10 games in a row, would never happen to someone that's not intentionally trying to derank), so you should just not derank more than 2 ranks. It would just stop at the last pip for that 2nd rank. Problem solved.

I tried an only SFTS build with Spirit several times before the PTB, and surprisingly, the map where it's the most useful is Léry's.Problem with most maps, which is not fixed much by the longer range, is crow placement. Particularly on large outdoor maps, there are a lot of crows near the edges, but hardly any further inside, let alone around the middle. Without either a different approach to crow placement, or some additional effect to the perk, it's still somewhat of a joke.
This is what I was thinking. Some maps don't have enough crows, and crows disappear from spots where a generator is finished.
IIRC the devs said they reduced the number of crows because they were eating a lot of resources (RAM and such). What they should do is reduce the number of crows per murder and increase the number of murders around the map, spreading them a bit more evenly in the process. That would make SFTS more viable on more maps without costing more resources.
PS in case anyone didn't know, a group of crows is called a murder. Hot right?

Legion would be more balanced in Smash as well. I have a thread full of move sets for every character tho

IMO Nurse would be the most interesting killer to be in Smash. I imagine that she would be able to charge blinks with B, has the ability to go in any direction and through objects, but in doing so she gets a fatigue state where she can't block, dodge, or attack (to balance it out). Something like Pikachu's Up B but slower. Depending on the direction she does a slight variation of it with different properties. Her final smash would just be called Memento Mori and it's a command grab on 1 character where she chokes you and then sends you flying similar to Jpuff's Rest but way more knockback since it's an FS. Her grab would put you on her shoulder, forward through spawns a hook in front of her and she puts you on it and it acts like DK's ground pound where it locks you in place allowing her to do a follow up attack. And her winning pose is that pointing thing she does after a blink.

On Xbox I could counter on 1 hand the number of people I met, as killer or survivor, that were definitely deranking (and almost always because they told me they were). Maybe another 15ish that maybe were deranking. But I honestly don't think it's as widespread as people claim, at least not on Xbox. PC maybe. PS4 maybe but I doubt it considering that PS4 players are way more casual gamers than Xbox players (been involved in competitive gaming a long time and the only people I know that play competitive games on PS are FGC players, and only because frame rates are more stable on PS than Xbox, the rest are PC or Xbox players).
Like yea this person in question deranks 25 pips (12-13 games if they just DC each time) everyday before they stream, and that is a huge issue 1) because it's a hell of a lotta ruined games for others, and 2) because she's a fog whisperer and needs to set an example for the community. As far as queue times, I can understand this point if you are a streamer, or that you want to avoid playing the same person multiple times in a row. I've had that last part happen, sometimes playing the same killer 3 times in a row. But that's mostly because a game ends, everyone searches for a new game immediately, so we just get matched up again because of the timing of the lobby ending. Monto made a very good point, just wait a few minutes if that becomes an issue. And even though I sometimes get long queue times as killer it mostly comes down to the time of day. I also think it's an issue with my game itself, as there is a lobby bug on Xbox that can happen where you never find other players and have to reset the game. I play both, so usually if I get a long killer queue I switch to survivor and find games right away.
Another point they brought up that this person used as defense of their deranking, is to avoid the constant Nurse/Billy at rank 1. Again on Xbox we don't have this issue at rank 1, there is a pretty good variety of killers (mostly Billy, LF, Myers, Spirit, Wraith, and Trapper, also Legion but that's more because they are the newest killer) but I can understand that sentiment. I think that mostly comes down to the killer player base being convinced these are the only two viable killers at rank 1. This just simply isn't true, pretty much all the killers are viable at rank 1, albeit some more difficult or costly than others (in terms of add-on usage). But people want the easiest win possible so they pick one of the two strongest killers and never actually try other killers. If they do, they get bodied because they are used to strong killers and maybe aren't as good of a killer player as they believe themselves to be.
But are there that many derankers that it's an epidemic? No I don't think so. Monto and Tyde both made strong points that the killer queue times for them are pretty equal regardless of rank, which tells me that the long queues are a technical issue and not a player base issue. BHVR should try to do something to curb deranking, if only to increase the integrity of their game, but I just don't see it being an actual major issue like so many claim.
