It isn't even working half the time. Not stronger then other exhaustion perks in opinion and it wouldn't be if it was reliable 100%.

Happens to me every now and then. I am not sure why.

Same bug on ps4.

I cannot even imagine how long a survivor needs to wait before dropping to risk getting hit. It is so outrageously long that I would recommend not dropping the pallet at all. It is like a skill check, you throw it down early? No punishment, you just keep making distance. Hit in the sweet spot? Stun. Drop after the sweet spot? Still a grace period. Hit it like half a second past the entire skill check? Yeah... you might actually get hit. That is your b, though. If you threw it at any vaguely reasonable time, you would be safe. You SHOULD be punished for being that egregiously greedy.
Against a lot of killers (Huntress, Piramid Head, Trickster, Bubba, Death Slinger, Demogorgon, Hill Billy, Wraight, Blight) you need to get a stun. At some unsafe paletts you need to get a stun, too. Therefore dropping every palett early isn't smart nor will it always result in saving you from getting hit. In fact sometimes you will get hit, if you drop it early and are stuck in the animation and cannot get away fast enough as the killer just walks around the palett. And dropping paletts early, without this knowleage and anticipating what will be the best choise usually results in leaving your team without any recources.

No, this game is already heavily survivor sided, why make it worse? This is a problem of your team not playing like a team and just wasting pallets.
This game is survivor sided if it is swf but not in solo. So what you are saying is wrong as this person is very obviously describing solo.

This is not another 'I'm quitting the game' post, although I am close, I'm just wondering how to have fun with the current state of the game.
As killer - No matter how many heavy losses I take I'm still getting extremely difficult survivors. Then after 3 hooks, 5 gens finished, they don't think 'oh, the killer had a bad game, let's just leave'. They stand there rubbing it in your face or, if you move away from the doors, try to get in viewing distance but a safe distance away to do so. If not they basically take the game hostage for most the egc, refusing to leave until the counter has almost ended. It is extremely demoralising to lose so badly match after match over and over again, against extremely strong survivors and gen speeds without all the crap at the end. There are lots more I could go on about but this post will be too long as it is less said about swf the better.
As survivor - Either you get the top tier killers who can end the game in minutes with 5 gens left or tunnelling, camping, slugging killers. Most of my survivors games have been like this and I'm back with the people scared of gens and hooks.
Both sides has grown extremely frustrating, heavily overshadowing all enjoymentof the game. Bugs remain in the game for ages and badly implemented sbmm introduced even though they refuse to properly balance the game. I was always an advocate of sbmm and for one day I was getting balanced games, not sure what went wrong.
So what's happened? How are we now supposed to have fun? I know a lot will say 'take a break' but unfortunately I fear the game will still be in the same state for months, if not until the end of the games life. I used to love this game and don't want to shelve it for eternity but it feels like I'm being pushed away, like the devs are purely bothered about money only and not player satisfaction anymore.
I feel it could be for some of the other people playing the game. Some don't feel responsible for their selfish behavior and blame it on the game, some say they thought that was how the game should be played and some said they just want to win and don't care for others. That will show on both sides just as you described. I am not sure why the player base changed that much, but I know it wasn't like that when I started the game. I've had some conversations with survivors and killers telling me that they thought playing like that was normal (not sure if it was trolling or if they actually think that).
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
You just need to hit them before they click on that pallet they were camping. Not at all in their favor, the server decides!
Obviously right, as I'd have stated that I get hit through pallets sometimes and sometimes not. But I guess some people are still used to getting every hit nmw.

SBMM makes the game more competitive (ironic, DBD considered) which creates far more scenarios across all MMR levels where the killer feels they have to tunnel if they want to win, or just do well, against good teams. It's also common among the lowest skill levels because it's incredibly effective against bad players.
People complain about gen regression perks and tunneling, rather than blaming the games failure to be balanced as a whole at a fundamental level, which causes a lot of the negativity that exists in game and the more frequent need for these things.
Every person is responsible for decisions and their actions. Grow up and take resposibility.

So I just recently had a game where I queued in as Spirit where I wanted to try out Hex: Plaything on her. Guess what happened though, I hit a survivor out of phase early in the match and first thing the survivor does is DC because I'm Spirit. Two other survivors ran to me and DCed after that. One survivor stayed and got hatch. They didn’t notice I was Spirit until end game chat so I guess they were solo.
Survivors, I don’t think that Spirit is the problem here, it's you for making games so much more stale and unfun and also ruining games for people that actually just want to play the game and have fun, like me and the Steve that decided not to rage quit. Here's the end game chat:
The chad survivor that didn’t DC: wtfffff
Survivor 1: lol
The chad survivor: what happened???
Me: survivors like that make this game more unfun than it needs to be
Survivor 1: would rather wait 5 mins than play against spirit
Me: dude quit being selfish
The chad survivor: HAHAHAHAHA
The chad survivor: #########
Me: you have bt adrenaline and iron will
The chad survivor: only because it’s spirit?
The chad survivor: u ok??
Me: ikr
The chad survivor: i
Survivor 2: tbh i just find spirit boring and unfun
Me: i dont
The chad survivor: thought it was a hacker
Me: just wanted to try out pinheads new perk on her
Survivor 2: i just prioritize my fun over others, call me selfish
The chad survivor: whay a baby
Survivor 2: gl in next
Survivor 3 was console so they couldn’t say anything.
Straight to the point, people like this just straight up ruin games and it needs to stop. I don’t care if you don’t like Spirit, DON’T DC. Not that you’re going to listen to me anyway because there will always be people like this but it’s really aggravating having to deal with this.
Sorry for the rant.
As it seems that was a one time kind of thing.
If it is more console players dcing it might be due to the issues that they're rightfully sick of after enduring it for nearly whole 2021. Though I don't feel like there is an increase.
-
Why do you people buy the new killer with how they have treated console players this whole year?
That doesn't feel right...

the hook skill check lags though, they are a massive pain, especially on the last hook
Right u are.
They should really at least disable dc penalty as long as they haven't fixed those long term issues on console. Like, do they really expect us to play like that? At this point to me it feels like they are trying to get rid of console players. All they care about is getting new killers out (that I don't even care for, like who would feed them money at this point?) and getting lots of money from those willing to give it to them. Someone probably knows for long it's been that bad on console. I don't know exactly, but it feels like most of 2021 it was bad on console, if not unplayable. All in all just a horrible experience.
I am very angry and dissapointed at this point.
-
It makes playing the game as any role horrible. I sometimes have games that aren't affected as much. I wonder why that is. It feels like sometimes it is bad, sometimes worse and sometimes it is so bad I'd just like to dc but kill myself on first hook instead. I was trying to figure out if there is any clue as to why the amount and impact of lags, teleports and freezes differs, but I am not sure if there is something to it or if it just feels like it's worse if I am going against people that live further away.

So, playing Lery's yesterday, the survivors are being super-immersive. Two gens go by and I'm struggling to find anyone.
Eventually find a Nea, and down she goes. I put her up on the hook in one of the long bathrooms.
No sooner had I left the room, she gets unhooked, so obviously I head back (had zero idea where anyone else was and there were at least two survivors by definition right nearby) and who runs into me... Nea! OK, you want a BT smack and it builds up my STBFL so OK... she gets smacked, and down she goes.
I've no idea where the rescuer went, no scratches, checked a couple of lockers, nothing. So I decide to DS test Nea - changing the obsession is good so I can smack the rescuer safely in case they were the obsession. She doesn't have it... so up on the same hook she goes.
On the way out of the bathroom now I see the scratches, and follow them... and lo and behold it's a would-be rescuer, Zarina. Chase them down and literally grab them as they were unhooking, and the game did this weird bug where I had grabbed them, but the unhook also happened?? So Nea is literally standing in front of the hook blocking it, so smacked her again and down she goes.
Zarina goes up on the hook, and I take the opportunity to put Nea up too (another two gens had gone in this time so down to 1 gen now)... Nea is dead, and Zarina is rescued whilst I was taking her to hook.
The rest of the game plays out and is several minutes of hide-and-seek, eventually they all die because of reasons.
In the end game chat, Nea is still around and immediately cries "tunnelling..."
Like, seriously?
1) She got unhooked unsafely as soon as I started walking away
2) She ran straight into me... maybe she didn't see which way I went because of the hooking animation taking over, but at least follow the rescuer then if you don't know?
3) She got unhooked second time literally in front of the killer (I grabbed the rescuer)
4) She didn't run/move at all after being unhooked and was blocking the hook, despite no BT and no DS (maybe she was stuck because of a bug in what happened, but she didn't mention that)
These are all survivor misplays in my book, but the cognitive dissonance for survivors is so overwhelming that it seems to convince them survivors can do no wrong and everything must be the killer's fault.
Why??
Yes it is the survivors fault for unhooking unsafely and hiding. But your decisions on how to act on that is still your responsibility. One sure can take advantage of the Antimates, but if you get called out for your decisions and actions that is indeed your responsibility. If I was in that situation I'd decide based on game progress. If they're still at 4 or 5 gens I'd usually just slug the farmed survivor and not hook them. If I did I'd know that this decision to hook them if my decision and action -> ergo it is my responsibility. If I'd get a message, well it would be deserved to some point and I'd just take it and make sure to remember that I have 0 right to ever complain if it happened to me. So no it is not always the Killers fault, but we are all responsible for our actions. We can do it but we're not forced to take advantage, therefore we're responsible.

You asked me if I even played survivor, so my hours apparently mattered. And no, it isn't just my opinion. The Devs have repeatedly stated that Tunneling and Camping are A-OKAY.
I never said that you had to like or dislike anything, I just said that it is a part of a game. In a game like this, you are going to have to face things you don't like. There is no workaround for it. If you can't handle that, you should consider finding a new game.
And I wasn't giving you my opinion, I was giving you the truth. My opinion is that tunneling and camping suck, for both parties, but its worse for the survivor receiving these treatments. But I am at least honest and understanding enough to know that it doesn't make them bad strategies.
I never said anything against having second chances and I agree, the game needs them, just as the killers need to be able to focus out a survivor. If a killer couldn't tunnel or camp, you'd no longer have very many killers playing the game and survivor queue times would go back to being 30 minutes or more for a match and the game would die.
You, nor I, get to decide on what fair game play is. The Devs do, and thankfully they know that it is impossible for killers to play according to what you consider is fair and have a shot at 4k, which every killer has a right to. To be clear, they have a right to aim for a 4k, not an inherent right to get a 4k, same as with survivors and escapes.
You are allowed to believe whatever you want to believe. That’s ok and I appreciate other opinions. Why are you explaining the game rules to me? Seems like you assume I've been talking about them or as if I didn't know them. You are mistaken: I know the game rules and I never said that tunnelling or camping were against the set rules of the devs.
Feels like you are assuming a lot about me and my opinion and you really seem to believe that you got the only truth, not accepting that there is no truth in this. But this is because I wasn't even talking about whatever you make it look like in your answer.
No I have no problem facing the truth, if there is one. Btw I don’t agree on your Opinion that if the killers couldn’t tunnel and camp there would no longer anyone play killer. I guess the devs would have to make a chane in order to balance the game, like giving survivors a second objective. I guess for the average killer players it would be too difficult to get any kills if fairplay (no that isn’t the same as in game rules; it is a term used in my country. It is a set of moral expectations including giving everyone a chance, respectful treatment of other opponents in any competitive situation that goes beyond game rules; therefore actions like tunnelling, camping body blocking etc would be seen as a violation to this concept) was a thing.
Right, the term I used is already defined. So neither of us gets to decide what fairplay is. Same goes for the in game rules the devs decided, but I with no word was talking about that topic.
So again you assume what you believe that I’d think is fair or what I think someone is allowed to aim for or not? This feels like a pattern with u. Although you have no clue about what I think you write as if I had said it or as if you knew what I think or believe. No, you don't. Just to clarify this: I assume that you believe that because you keep explaining things to me, as if I said them, when I did not. I didn’t say anything about anyone not being allowed to aim for whatever. I’d appreciate if you could stop making assumptions or write something as if I had said it or meant it.

I have over 3000 hours in survivor. I have been tunneled and camped plenty of times. Ranking and Pipping is meaningless, you literally get nothing for it. Challenges are called challenges for a reason, they challenge you to do something with the threat of the killer being present. They're not meant to be easy and you're not entitled to have the killer go away so you can achieve your goal.
Items are very easy to come by and you don't even have to spend blood points for them at all. All you have to to is run Plunderers. I have 132 red maps, 69 red keys, 72 Alex toolboxes, 55 purple keys, 80 engineer tool boxes, 56 purple med-kits and 70 purple flashlights. I'm not going to bother with listing the obscene amounts of lower rarity items I have. All from Plunderers, since I P3d my Claudette a long time ago and have all the perks I want on her unlocked, I haven't had to dump any points into her for a long time. Losing items aren't an excuse to not want to be chased. Even if Plunderers wasn't a perk, you know what you can do? You can play Killer with BBQ and just dump all of your blood points on your survivors!
You're right, no matter how good you are, there is no guarantee to escape! It is the nature of the game. The Devs have even said that their goal for proper balance is 2 escapes and 2 kills, so people are going to die. If the killer has NoEd and kills you with it, that is yours and your teams fault, not the killer. You take a risk every time you walk by a dull totem and not cleanse it. You take a risk by not playing stealthily when one gen is left.
Getting tunneled is getting chased. You may not like it, but they are the same thing. Having bad teammates who lead the killer to you is the problem, not tunneling. Going after the injured survivor who has already been hooked is usually the best choice a killer can make. If you and a lot of other survivors were honest, it really isn't tunneling that is the problem, it is the fact that you and your teammates are just not good enough to loop the killer and waste enough of their time in order to complete objectives. That is really it. And since it doesn't make you happy, you want the killer to be handicapped to give you yet another chance to succeed, in a game that repeatedly gives you chance after chance after chance to escape the killer and waste their time.
That is your point of view. And if you had a million hours, it is still just your opinion. I have a different opinion. Getting tunneled is as much the same as getting chased, as stealing is the same as robbery.
Btw I explained what other point of view there is as you didn't seem to understand or take into account that there are different opinions. Take it or leave it. My opinion is as good or bad as yours or anyone elses.
I am not sure why you think it is okay to just subordinate what what I think or like/dislike.
Maybe you should be aware, that if the game would not grant second chances it would be a 4K's all the time. Long story short: killer players won't have anyone to play against. That there are second chances is the reason why this game is kinda working. Though it's mostly 3K's in the stats cause they might have based the killers and survivors around a 2K but I guess that would be if everyone played fair.
-
@Huge_Bush said:
Yet, you have lots of people who complain about tunneling, when chasing is supposedly the most fun part of the game. I've read many angry comments, berating killers for not letting them go so they can work on generators, open chests and cleanse totems. It just goes to show that you can't please everyone.
Do you just not play survivor at all or have you never been tunneled? I doubt you have ever been tunneled. Getting tunneled isn't fun cause you know what will happen. At some point you get to a dead zone, you won't pip if you didn't get to do anything else. If you have a challenge that is not getting chased by the killer you won't get it done. If your found or brought a good item you will loose it and if you are unlucky and your teammates aren't doing good all 4 will die.
It is simple. No matter how good you are you might just end up dying nmw, if the killer has noed an no one did totems, if someone got chased before and threw 4-5 strong paletts, if rng isn't in your favor etc.
Getting chased isn't the same as getting tunneled. You might do good and take a hook stage rather than throwing a good palett just to have your teammates throw it before they are even hurt. And then on person that throws the pallette next to the hook going in for the "rescue" chased by the killer... I'd love to see anyone get of that hook, farmed with the killer around and manage to get away from it without bt or ds when all you had was the palette you teammate threw it with no need.

It seems survivors have it worst rn than killers. Dead hard causes lag, hooking, and popped gens.
I was playing killer earlier today and I had multiple situations when I lagged as well, caused by the same actions. But I agree that it seems to be worse if playing as survivor (wasn't it like that last time, too?)

Depends how you play the rest of the game.
I also did not take the Hatch once, the Killer was playing like a total Jerk and acting nice at the end. So I was like "Nah, just kill me".
Yeah, if the killer harcore tunneled and proxy camped the first person nmw or even everyone, I'll refuse to take the hatch. I've had that multiple times and I usually refused to take the hatch unless the killers behaviour was a reaction to toxic survivor behaviour. It would feel like a betrayal to the others and to my own moral expectations.
And if I get dropped nearby the hatch, I might not try to crawl to it, if I it suits the way they behaved in game. I expect the killer to be sadistic and shut it.

Ok do you care how you play as survivor? No? Because it is just a game lol your fun is all that matters. This isn't the friendship game and as the killer I am not your friend. I believe Dowsey made a video on that subject if you watch him.
Why would someone care how they play as killer but not as survivor? Someone selfish wouldn't care eighter way. Lol I doubt we'd be friends as survior neighter. Whenever I watch unfriendly behaviour (killer or survivor) I act on it (not unhooking, stop participating, leaving, not healing etc.). If the killer seems to be lower rank and had no kills I usually let them kill me, sometimes I even try to make it look like they outplayed me if I get the feeling that they seem depressed. I care for everyone's experience, I couldn't not care and I have no understanding how anyone could feel different about that.
I watched his video on that and some others. To be frank he is the kind of person that I'd call selfish or at least he's not close to what I call a decent person.
-
Experiencing all the selfish and sadistic behaviour some people show. It's not to be expected that they're behaving differently in real world. Then I feel surrounded by people with a lot of dark triad traits... kinda scary ngl.

- Run what ever you want, even if it is memey or powerful.
- Don't follow the survivor rulebook.
- Should jump on survivor sometimes to kind of get a feel for how their movement works.
- Don't let others make you feel bad. Disable the chatbox if you have to and I believe console can turn off messaging for specific games? But you can correct me if I am wrong.
- Tunneling is basically the objective so don't be afraid to go after survivors, because that is what they call tunneling for some reason. Camping is iffy because good survivors will punish it but if everyone is bum rushing the hook go for it! I made this because people do ask me how I still enjoy the killer role after all this time. :) Have fun in the fog! 😎
You could've made it shorter:
2-3 Ways to have fun as Killer
- Play as selfishly as possible (tunnel, camp and slug, etc.).
- Don't selfreflect on, care for, or anticipate any possible consequences of your actions.
- Play survivor to learn the movement etc.
Point 2 is optional, only if it's not natural to you to not care anyway.
-
During the game Ds does nothing neigher does BT. They are good for endgame if the game even gets that far. Usually it is just like u say. The first found is tunneled till they're out of the game. Then the killer eighter proceeds to do the same with the next or starts to play "normal". Sometimes at 5 gens they even camp and slug vs 3 people. I'd really love to see the 4K and escape rates per rank.
I just hop on different games as I get deeply disgusted by that kind of playstyle.

And other perks instead of Ds and unbreakable, i don't want a perk that only activates once I've been hooked and I'm about to get tunneled, I'd rather prevent the hook in the first place.
Preventing a hook stage usually kills your team and if you are unlucky and the killer finds hatch first you die too. I'm not sure if that is a good advice. Apart from that: Imagine everyone running those perks and loosing the killer resulting in no one getting hooked what do you think will happen?

Unfortunately this doesn't transfer over well to my survivor challenges... I have yet to meet a killer who's willing to just let me do what I need to do
Probably not going to happen.

This "amazing" event is supposedly the reason we haven't been getting proper winter/summer solstice events for years...
I just want to say... That what BHVR have given us for this anniversary event is completely fine, if it hadnt been for them hypping it up to be one of only two proper events a year. And that these events (anniversary and halloween) takes so much resources that it has to go at the expense of all other possible events.
That is what upsets me the most. All these empty promises, deceptive and non transparent behaviour from BHVR.

As dc penalty isn't on I just dc whenever I get killed by the lag. It makes me sad, cause before the new chapter the game was finally running ok... I want that back.

Yes, horrible lags on ps4. Worse as survivor compared to killer. I'm getting a big advantage playing as killer when survivors are obviously running but teleporting backwards. The lag even counters all exhaustion perks.Playing right now is a really bad experience and this so called Event is not what we got promised... . I am not happy

Great, now if you don't get tunnelled, you don't need to use DS!
If you do get tunnelled, you get to use DS!
That is actually not true. If you think you are not getting tunneled and heal one solo second DS is gone, remember the person just started the heal then realizes the killer is coming back for them. AND the most stupid thing is that it still only lasts 60 seconds. Usually I outrun the killer and go down when it ran out for quiet some time. If it was a true anti-tunnel perk the timer would stop when getting chased and not go down at all if the killer goes for the unhooked with ds still running. DS also should stop going down if the person is getting farmed and slugged. I honestly don't even know what kind of killer players had a problem with ds anyway. I had very few situations getting ds'd and only if I couldn't tell them apart (if they go in as lookalikes). At least for me it was never a problem, for me problems are genspeed and unnecessary rude behaviour.
The state that ds has right now is a waste of a perk slot but if no one has it the tunnel seems to be the only playstyle existing (and not only if there is just 3 gens left) for a way too big amount of killer players. Had that multilple games: Someone gets hooked 2-3 gens get done and if I unhook the person with bt and take a hit the killer just ignores me on the gen next to the unhooked and continues chasing that person next to the gen.
I now changed to the same playstyle as if the person gets facecamped by Bubba in the basement, as long as the killer isn't injuring someone else I won't go for the saves at all (unless it's an archive thing). Guess that is the only effective way to counter it although them injuring someone and then going straight back for the unhooked is pretty common as well. Unfortunately it is very boring to just do gens and have 0 chases and it gives nearly no bp. Same goes for being the one chased. Even if one lasts for 4-5 gens it's only chase points, maybe a bit for a gen that you started and nearly no points in other categories. But I guess that is just how it is now.
I just hope they reduced survivor challeges in the archive so we don't have to play that much survivor (there were always less for killer anyway).

The word's lost all meaning at this point, it's just people calling the most pathetic things toxic because they can't handle someone pressing the crouch button at them in a videogame.
This is a typical statement for someone trying to make a legit statement sound invalid. If you reduce the action of tbagging to pressing a button, it is the same as comparing a said insult to words coming out of someone’s mouth. That one’s action has an intention and a message that is send to the consignee is a fact that does not just disappear because it is send via internet. Stating that we are talking about ones behaviour in a videogame is a sad attempt to lessen the responsibility one has for their actions and behaviour at all times (yes, we all are responsible for our behaviour and decisions even in virtual/internet settings).

Eery single time i play my teammate doesnt understand anything about anything. Know you might think that im a bad players blaming everything on my teammates no im not!!!. well anyways they dont know how the killers work im rank 4 right now...
Some stuff my teammates does most of the games: They suicide on hook, DC, hold shift when im picking them up, they dont take hits, they wont block, they refuse to 99 doors, they dont look for Devour or NOED, they arent trying to flashlight save, they are not keeping in mind which perks the killer has. Now the problem with all this is that i cant solo a match my teammates do gens yea but they make bad decisions they loop everything wrong they greed to much etc.
Now i know how to loop almost everything so most of the times i get away with bad teammates but it is so hard it feels like my teammates are waiting for me to get hooked so they can unhook me instead of doing gens... I would consider my self a good survivor i know how all killers abilites work i know most of the addons that i have to worry about i know all status effect, how to loop T and L, killershack and more so what is the secret? when im wathcing dbd on youtube everyone get so good queues good teammates running good perks. My teammates are running self care :P
Dont comment about spelling errors if there are any, idk and i wont read through everything just to fix a missing letter Thank you!
I’m playing mostly solo red rank as well and can relate to some things you stated. Like hook suicides, dc’s, not taking hits, not doing totems, not having any clue about the killer perks.
Most of the things I see that my random team mates do that I think are obvious to be wrong / selfish: Hiding, selfcaring, wasting/throwing all the palettes, when they were never hooked instead of doing a gen or doing anything useful at all. I have team mates with 0 clue when to distract the killer, when to greed a gen, when to not rush (injured) for the unhook after the other teammate just did the same and now is sluggged (refusing to crawl away) next to the hook. Nearly every game the survivor that got found first is looping in the middle of the map (next to a 3 gen that we should try to break). They throw 3-4 palettes down (next to each other) and still manage to get downed 5 seconds after - at 5 gens. Or they loop the killer right next to the basement throw the shack palette and still go down seconds after and get carried off to the basement. Most survivors seem to have little knowledge about what they should avoid or do in which situation or what palettes to greed and how to use windows at all. If I can I usually write to them and ask them to have a look on how to play on YouTube or I recommend someone that makes good tutorials.
Gotta be honest I do suicide on first hook frequently. If I got half or more of a gen done before I get chased as the first person and by the time I go down there is no one on a gen I just assume that I got in with 3 yellow ranks (playstyle not actual rank) and I am gone. I mean I had games where I got found with ¼ gen done, ran the killer till they left me cause I didn’t use any palette and I was still the first to finish a gen.
I don't think that you need a swf to do good. I had pretty good random teams back in 2018/9 almost every match in red ranks. All we need is people knowing the perks, map rng, playstyles and a basic understanding about the game, killer mindset and how to behave as a part of the team. But I guess that is too much to ask for nowadays.
-
This perk gets useless every time I outrun the killer for too long.

I have nothing against it, sometimes it can even work as a strategy to piss the killer off to make them go for you, but I can see where people are coming from when they see it as annoying or disrespectful. It is how it is though.
Exactly. Those people are coming from a well educated households and they learnt that even trying to provoke someone isn't something a good and decent human being does - not even in the anonymity of the internet. Those labeling this kind of behaviour as something disrespectful are decent human beings. Whereas the response to the provocation depends on their temperament, their morals and / or their emotional stability.
-
Tbagging is a provocation. If I have survivors tbagging me I'll make sure to try my best to let them have a bad time (as survivor and as killer). If I see a survivor tbagging a killer for no reason I don't unhook them or heal them. I used to try and sandbag them but the killers often didn't realize. If I see a killer proxycamping and scaring everyone trying to save away without going for the chase I point at the hook to figure out if they have done something to the killer, if the killer nods I'll just leave.
-
Any Killer that doesn't tunnel or camp and plays fair. And those that don't dc when they lost the game.
Much respect to the killers that pay attention about the survivors and their behaviour and that do not reward selfish playstyles, unhooking when chased, constantly bringing the killer to other survivors (which lets assume they have bond or empathy and are doing that on purpose) and sandbagging.
U all are great humans and respectable ^^
-
As Killer: selfish playstyles, tbagging, getting stuck on nothing and bodyblocking if the survivor wasn't even hooked.
As survivor: selfish playstyles, tunneling, hitboxes, getting stuck on nothing and being exhausted on the ground.
-
I mostly play like that as killer. Makes the matches a lot of fun. After all dbd is a game and those are played for fun. I (try to) keep track of the hooks per each survivor and set myself goals like kicking x gens. Then again I despise tunneling abysmally unlike most of the people in this community I care for good sportsmanship, fairplay and respect instead of being a selfish person, so I'm not surprised by the answers you got. I don't like farming killers as it is boring, but what you describe doesn't sound like that.

Part of the reason why a lot of Killers play the way they do is because the bloodpoint system rewards it. There's no strong system in place to penalize bad play or reward good play in terms of bloodpoints.
Imagine if score events existed like
"Long Chase Win" for +2000 deviousness bloodpoints if you down a Survivor after more than 45 seconds of chase.
"All Survivors Hooked" for +2000 sacrifice bloodpoints once you hook your fourth Survivor.
"Close Call" for +2000 brutality bloodpoints for kicking a generator at 85%+ progress.
"Lack of Variety" for -2000 sacrifice points if you down the most recently hooked Survivor.
"Inactive" for -2000 hunter bloodpoints for staying within 24m of the hook for more than 20 seconds.
"Botched Kill" for -2000 brutality points when a Survivor bleeds out or dies in endgame collapse.
You could also do this for Survivors examples are:
"Close Call" for +2000 altruism for picking up a slugged Survivor.
"Missed Opportunity" for -2000 altruism for all Survivors when a Survivor hits struggle phase on first hook.
"Low Skill" for -1000 objective for missing a skillcheck.
I love it. Good idea. One obviously cannot expect people to play fair if unfair and selfish playstyles are rewarded by the game. Might be difficult for some cases, but I like the idea behind it.

Its not really tunneling if its 3 people. Hook one, hook another, hook the 3rd. Hooking the first guy again afterwards isn't tunneling in my books
Yeah telling yourself that this behaviour is ok, will make it ok legally. I bet you think it's not stealing or bad if there is a purse on the street that someone lost and you take it.

A lil update:
Again I was playing survivor due to the archives. Just had a game against Freddy that tunneled that baby dwight hardcore. With 0 gens done, he was found first, ran in a straight line (cause he was a yellow rank, the killer was a red rank). I was right there had him healed and the killer went around me following him like a maniac. No matter how hard I tried to get him on me that killer was disturbed or something. I spawned with him so I know that he didn't do anything but hiding in a bad spot. That killer went past me multiple times, I went down for dwight but the killer kept following uninjured dwight and left me on the ground. (I mean #########?)
I gotta be honest. I don't understand it and I feel like it is impossible for me to get any answers that "help" or "clarify" what the heck is worng with these people.
I've come to the conclusion that there is no explanation or apology on this earth that I could accept or that would make me change my mind about these kinds of people. With their actions - bit by bit - they take the value from themselves that every living being receives at birth.
I guess one would have to have no heart, no soul, no conscience and no morals to exhibit selfish behaviour to this extent for no good reason and without ganing anything real (cause it is a freaking game). All they do is devalue themselves, poison themselves and make others sad. I am still sad and angry for dwight and his experience and I am sad and disgusted for that killer-player.
I don't want to understand such behavior. Maybe it would corrupt me and make me just as crazy and obnoxious.

Shitshow was not directed at you. I meant the entire post and comments made. I expected this to get some heat, but not this much and not this quickly.I would like to answer people and share my opinions and get theirs but it is becoming more and more time straining.I should’ve made that more clear so that was my fault.
“I am apparently a sociopath and morally bankrupt for trying to have some fun”
-->This kind statement is an unfair variety and called "lead to absurdity through exaggeration". In doing so, the discussion partner tries to make you unbelievable and ridiculous by exaggerating your statement or the consequences. I reject your allegation.
“Pure egoism or sadism that cannot be excused or explained in any other way.”
These are your exact words regarding tunneling, so i don’t see how i am exaggerating here.
“With all due respect, given your (nonexistent) and my (well-researched) arguments, your statement should be mine.”
How nice of you to assume that only from arguments i made over a video game topic discussion knowing absolutely nothing about what i do in real life.
“I reject your allegation. I understand your expression and your frustration. They just seem very self-centered to me. You have formed your opinion and apparently believe you truly know that it is as you described it (even with the lack of arguments). That is understandable, because if you would allow my arguments to be valid, it would result in a cognitive dissonance and a threat to your self-worth. That's probably why you react with aggression and the attempt to defame me. If my explanations were nonsense, you wouldn’t need to worry and with your reasoning, you could continue to behave as you have done so far without having to question your morality. I don't blame you for trying to insult me. Everyone in your situation would defend their self-worth”
First of all insulting you was just poor judgement on my part.I apologize for that.I admit that i really don’t understand your perspective.I don’t see how can someone expect that a moral code formed by once a tight-net community must still be applicable even though game has evolved and the player base is more than 4 times larger. Failed attemts to ensure that this moral code is adhered by everyone is what causes most of the toxicity in my experience. You can’t expect everyone to follow it, that is simply unrealistic. And since that is the case players get more and more frustrated not because they get face camped,tunneled,t-bagged but because of the repeated assertion of how those things are evil, unspeakable and aren’t supposed to be done etc. Out of frustration they either quit playing or start doing those things themselves. And this causes a repeating circle of hatred between two sides. Other than a select few no one is following these rules anymore anyways. All that is really left is the expectation of it by survivors and the toxicity it causes.Even if what you have said was true, DBD has undoubtedly one of the most toxic communities out there. So how exactly these rules are working for you? Did they make the game more fair and fun?Don’t think so. Most people who quit this game –some of my friends also- quit because what these rules do to the game and the community. They obviously failed to make this community more a peaceful one.So yes i don’t see how abiding moral codes in a video game is a good idea. You are right about cognitive dissonance but that is simply not the case with me.
“Yes, I have a different opinion. We have different opinions and as you said that is ok. You are free continuing to believe that you can do whatever you want online and that it does not affect your moral integrity in any way. But you cannot ask that the rest of us share your opinion. For others, the severity of misconduct does not depend on whether you show it in a group during an online game or offline. It is a misconduct and that is how it is assessed, evaluated and treated. Even if you don’t like that.”
I don’t believe doing whatever online does not compromise my moral integrity. As you said i evaluate my “misconduct” by the effects it has on real life. If it is an action done to someone in a video game let’s just say face camping i use empathy to see how i would feel if i was in their position. Then compare it to how i would feel doing it and go from there.
Effects on real life for person in that position: Negligible(at least for most people)
How i would feel : Joyous
It is not “at their expense”. It is just their moment of frustration compared to my moment of feeling nice. And yes i do care more about how i feel more than how a total stranger feels. No need to be a hypocrite here. If that makes me selfish and self-centered let me be selfish. You can say “you can play in a way that is fun for everyone.” But fun is subjective and i don’t have fun playing by the rules. So why would i trade what i said above to me getting bored and total strangers having fun?Who would do that? Nobody. Because that is not why we are here to play.We are here to play so we can have some fun. We don’t play games to be clowns. So I would say my moral integrity is just fine here.
“Overall your statement amazes me. I assumed that you opened this post in the discussion forum to discuss. Precisely because we have different views, I think a discussion could be fruitful. Either side can present their arguments. That's what a discussion is about. Unfortunately you seem not appreciate a good high-quality discussion. I think it's a shame that you are withdrawing from it. For me the question remains if you are unable or unwilling to comment on my arguments”
Yes i wanted to discuss but i didn’t expect this amount of feedback as i said before. I do appreciate a high-quality discussion, it is just that i am becoming increasingly unavailable recently so i might not be able to comment back, that is why i was trying to end the discussion there.
PS: I edited it and it got deleted for some reason. So this might get posted 2 times.
First of all I’d like to thank you for this civil answer. I appreciate the effort you took writing all this and explaining your point of view to a bigger extent.
“Shitshow was not directed at you. I meant the entire post and comments made. -Well that post was directed towards me and ended with why you wanted to stop talking to me personally. I had no clue to come to the conclusion that this post or this word especially- weren’t directed at me. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, maybe I missunderstood.
“‘Pure egoism or sadism that cannot be excused or explained in any other way.’ These are your exact words regarding tunneling, so i don’t see how i am exaggerating here.”
-These were my words regarding a certain kind of tunnelling that is exhibited in a certain kind of situation. If all that applies, well then I indeed have no explanation other than this.
“First of all insulting you was just poor judgement on my part.I apologize for that.I admit that i really don’t understand your perspective.I don’t see how can someone expect that a moral code formed by once a tight-net community must still be applicable even though game has evolved and the player base is more than 4 times larger. -Thank you for the apology I really appreciate it. I guess I failed making my point clear. I expect morally sound behavior regardless of this specific game. It is what I expect from others and try to exhibit in any community and any social interaction (online and offline). Sure I cannot influence others to behave morally correct, it is their decision. But to me it is my and everyone else’s responsibility to call people out if they are behaving it a way that is morally wrong. Because not reacting to it, staying quiet if something isn’t ok, would imply acceptance or consent. Your theory (expectations on morally good behaviour and getting frustrated and stop playing does have some truth in it. Changing one’s own behaviour in a morally wrong way (toxic) maybe could have some truth in it for younger unstable people) shows how just not caring about morals is the easy way. But from my experience people behaving toxic on one side, get angry if they get treated that way on the other side (double standard). I’ve not yet seen anyone feeling good and reacting understanding while getting facecamped or tunnelled first hook 2 times in a row. This gives me the impression that they have morals and know how to distinguish right from wrong, but are selfish. You say you wouldn’t be influenced in a negative way, I guess that is possible if someone plays the game without any goal so maybe you are one of those. (From my experience most people have a goal; get a 4k; escape with an item; get a challenge or daily done and they would get affected by unfair in-game decisions.)
In summary we have different points of views. Maybe we could go with this: I (and the ones sharing my point of view) feel “attacked” by your behavior, you feel “attacked” by our messages to your behavior. I guess we all have to live with this or quit the game.

Ive only just started playing the game and caught wind of these strange rules recently. Bizarre that you get criticised for playing your role as intended by people who love to run around teabagging lol. I’ve already been accused of camping on a few occasions even though all I did was patrol the hook area and the two closest generators because I could see all three survivors running to the hook to rescue. But I’m a camper because I don’t just run to the other side of the map and allow them to unhook. Amusing. I don’t let it bother me and will continue to play killer, not babysitter.
Not the case by the way, I am a killer main and I have a different opinion.

"dig or force a passage underground or through something."
but on a more serious note.
most people understand tunneling to mean focusing on a single survivor while ignoring others.
so that's the definition we should go with

Depends on how many people of the community gave their opinions. I'd accept a definition if it was rated by most members of the community (through a survey). But I'll have a look into that. Thanks for the effort.

I feel like some of these things read like
If you kill people in the game = you kill people in real life.
It's a video game, I dont know why some of us are looking too deep into something that doesn't really mean anything.
Your in game behaviour is real, it is always your decision how you play. And you are responsible for those decisions. But you are right the game itself isn't real. A kill required in a game isn't a kill for real I game you respawn or get into another one, that isn't the case in real life.
-
Same here, and I also lost two pips when the killer left while the game was loading. It didn't show it was him but I asked everyone and he said he didn't want to play the map and left. Every survivor lost 2 pips.
(Maybe they are trying to get all survivors to derank? If so it's working pretty good)

Just today I’ve had at least ten matches where someone DCs. That’s not including just dying on the first hook even though I’m right there to pull them off. I don’t know if survivors are just fed up with the latest update or I’m getting a lot of quitting Quintins on me
Same. I had dc's and first hook suicides nearly every game.
