Thanks, I didn't know that and wasn't sure if I had to report then or not.

I am curious how long Hex totems usually last in your experience.

That varys a lot. Sometimes throughout the whole game, sometimes half the game, sometimes till everyone got hooked once and every now and then they get destroyed in the beginning. Tbf I guess no one can reliably say how long their totems last as we tend to remeber the times it gets broken early and forget about the games when it lasts long. I know that because before taking stats I thought they got broken immediately most of the time.

  • I wonder why people think it is "fun" to try to trigger others.

Is that honestly fun to you? And if so, why?

  • I guess the system is just not working at all. I can have a lot of high skilled killers and win and next game I get a killer that just installed the game and gets 1 kill because of noed or none. Then right after that game you get a bunch of fellow survivors that have just started and think that after getting injured running for the unhook without bt is the very best choise in that situation against a pretty good killer that is probably very surprise why they get paired with this kind of survivors.

Same as killer: right after getting good teams with only 4-8 hooks and 0 kills the game decides it's a good timing to give me a 2-4 man swf that totally destroys me with 2 hooks at best. But when I get a 2K against a good team the next team will be baby survivors trying to hide in a locker that they fast vaulted into. I surely have no clue how that happens and it doesn't make sense to me at all.

For those that like a surpise DBD matchmaking is perfect, you never know what to expect.

The only thing you can do is turn off xrossplay until your at a better time with more players thats of course if console can do that

Not sure if it'll help. But thanks, I'll try it out

  • @Altarf said:

I've noticed it too. I believe Scott Jund came up with the theory that BHVR expanded their matchmaking region lock in order to combat queue times some time ago, a little after the introduction of MMR - which, of course, leads to rubberbanding and all that. Plus, console optimisation is not exactly great.

Apart from the whole last year and the start of this year I've never had any teleporting or lag experiences on console. Not even in yellow killer lobbies in 2017. So optimization is obviously possible and throughout 2020 (no for long though) it was possible to play without teleporting or lagging or camera turns.

  • thx for the effort, but I'd need a csv or excel. Like that I'd have to copy everything in myself and tbf I don't have time for that.

  • That isn't your data, this is your results. Whithout the data I cannot analyse the data. No offense but most people have no clue how to statistically correct analyse the data.

That is just what most players I have talked and myself think.

    How do I see it?

Low MMR -> killer-sided (there is high chance for multiple weak links)

Average MMR -> I would say balanced for most killers

High MMR -> survivor-sided, unless you play some of the top tier killers

Tournament level -> you are just screwed unless you have Nurse, or Blight.

Yeah, I have seen Otz video. He has more hours than most of those teams combined. He was trying to win with camping / tunneling against survivors that just weren't ready for that. He basically played like a tournament level against random players, what do you think is going to happen?

So it is basically just your opinion (we tend to surround ourselves with people that share the same opinion. Unless you provide representive data you should mark you opinion as your opinion.

He was giving them a 30 sec advantage. I doubt anyone in a tournament would do that. I have to met a survivor yet that hasn't come across tunneling or camping so I highly doubt anyone playing survivor isn't ready for that. I'd say it is unlikely to go 5 games without someone getting tunneled or camped in at least 1 of those games. What is "he basically played like a tournament level" supposed to mean? What kind of playsyle or other factors are you implying with that?

I could care less what you think,I don’t need YOUR answer!!I crap worthier than you.You don’t know crap about me.I don’t wAnt to know crap about you!!!Take your self righteous head and shove it right up your own ass. That’s my opinion of you.I didn’t start serious but people like you have made me serious. What you took a year of psych in college?Get over yourself lol.

You do realize that the same is true for you (us needing your post, caring what you think, knowing anything apart from your statements and reactions about you). Just like you (and anyone else for that matter) I do have the right to state my opinion. I don't think crap is worthier than me and that isn't really a constructive critique just a try to hurt me through an insult. You are the one that is responsible for your thoughts, for what you say and your actions- just like everyone else is for theirs. You can't shift the blame for what you say or how you behave on anyone else. You know all feelings and emotions are good and worthy, even anger just shows that we are in a situation that isn't good for us and that "anger" is suppose to give us a hint and the drive to act on on changing our situation constructively. Maybe you should give that a thought as it seems that even with your current solution (the way you play killer now) doesn't seem to change how angry you feel. I don't think that you knowing if or if not I have a psychological degree would change anything for you.

I’m not going to go through everything I say and post analytics and waste my time for you.The devs told killers go play civ. They didn’t say that to survivors. And even though Otz has 10000 followers doesn’t mean he’s going to give up the money bhvr pays him. That would be stupid and I don’t think he is.Play killer, play killer only.Come back in a month and tell us how it went.I don’t believe you will, and if you did your a survivor at heart and would come back saying how great you were and how easy killer is.

I am neighter. I play killer and survivor. I know the struggles of both roles.

I like discussing topics and I like to hear how others rate and interpret the same issue. But from what I understand from your posts is that you don't look for the same. You want to spread your anger and hatred at anyone that disagrees and you're trying to invalidate arguments.

Therefore there is no base to keep this going. If one "side" has no arguments, a discussion isn't possible or needed.

Ok,ok we get it we get it!!!!Anything over a .00000000000001 k average is killer sided.Survivors need to be given powers just like the killers and killers don’t get perks because that’s killer sided and gens should only take 2 seconds because survivors having to do gens is killer sided.Survivors should be able to teleport to said gens because running to gens is killer sided.Uf survivor doesn’t want to do gens ,exit gates should auto open so they can just walk out, because if a killer stops them it’s killer sided. We get it already.Would you like to play a game of tic tac toe?

Tbf it is difficult to take you seriously if you writing thing that are as unreasonable as this.

As dbd devs stated the balance is a 2K. This means that if the killrate is below 2 it is "survivor sided" and if the killrate is above 2 it is "killer sided", if someone wants to put it like that.

The following things you said don't seem worthy for an answer in my opinion. All I get from your rant (my interpretation of your words) is that you are frustrated, angry and feel powerless playing killer.

Anything to have fun because playing killer the “right” way is anything but fun.I just want to waste as much survivor time as possible while giving them the least amount of bp .

Interesting how much you share about you. So (at least one of) your intention(s) is to "waste as much survivor time as possible while giving them the least amount of bp".

Care to explain why that is your goal? Is there a deeper hatred and sadism in your intention or is that too much to assume from your words?

You know Otz is paid by BHVR.Their company line is survivor first. You think Otz is gonna bite the hand that feeds him and say anything that goes against the company line?

I am pretty sure that Otz doesn't need any money from behaviour as he usually has more than 10.000 people watching his stream and a bunch of followers on his YT channels.

Once again you claim something, you cannot provide any data for ("Their company line is survivor first"), as the truth. It's not the truth nor a fact, just simply something you believe to be true. Please make sure to use the right words.

Interesting, most players agree that higher MMR is more survivor sided. But you are unique I guess and manage to be in high MMR and losing anyway. It doesn't change a fact that your data is pulled from your ass. This is average. If you want to talk about high MMR, you can watch tournaments. Killers are happy to get 2ks most of the times. Only top 3 killers, well maybe 2 now (I forgot about Spirit nerf to mention) are viable there, any other killer will get his ass kicked. Survivors are super limited on most tournaments.

So it's not about nerfs, it's about new things now. Alright, changing a lot. Well, Overcome is actually really strong perk combined with healing perks too. Killers got some good, some terrible. No #########. Nothing they got was level of CoH or MoM.

Let's not forget some survivors perks got buffed. Built to last, Vigil, WoO are quite good now. And best thing you got, a ######### validation for pallets and DH.

"... most players agree that higher MMR is more survivor sided". Where does that come from? Can you provide any representive data?

From what I've heard and from my impression some people agree on swf groups having an advantage.

Have you watched the recent vid of Otzdarva about his experiment with the different perks and add ons on killer? You claim something that you believe to be true as facts. They are not. They are your beliefs and that you be phrased in a certain way (usually starting with: I think..., I believe..., My experience is....).

Damn, someone is running on old data :D

Freddy had high kill rate before all those nerfs, addon pass that destroyed most of his addons and BT rework. His kill rate and pick rate is most likely in ######### now.

This is kill rate from September. There wasn't released any other since, but someone can feel free to share newer version.

Only survivors got nerfed recently? Hmm.

BT was more a buff, pop got nerfed, undying got nerfed, Cenobite get nerfed, Twins got nerfed, Deathslinger got nerfed, Fredddy got nerfed.

You got CoH that makes this game even more easy.

What is the source? I couldn't find a something official from behaviour about the kill and pick rates older then 2020.

You don’t play killer.Survivors don’t want balance. They want to tbag, drop infinite amount of pallets every map and tbag more at the end and if the devs could nerf the killers more to make that possible even better. That’s what survivors.Balance to survivors is nerf a killer three ways and buff duty three ways. Wish this game was more like the movies they were inspired by.Drop a pallet on Pinhead and he sends your ass straight to hell because a pallet isn’t going to hurt pinhead or Myers or leatherface and all those guys would take those flashlights away from you and shove them up your Hershey Choco lotta watta highway.

Where is the representive data supporting your claim that "survivors don't want balance. They want to tbag, drop infinite amount of pallets..."?

On which map in dbd (I guess you are talking about dbd) exactly is there an "infinite amount of pallets"?

As I stated in my OP she deliberately sandbags me, standing there trying to get the killer to notice me. I, in return, did not help her when she was hurt. This is why I said I got them bothered.

If that is the whole story then you got unlucky having some of the troll people as your fellow survivors. That happens and if you feel it deserves a lot of time from you, you should save a video and report the case. I've reported some people that I met all the time that were teaming with the killer or sandbagging or whatever and as I haven't seen them around I assume reporting them does something.

  • Helping her with what? Doing a gen is helping the whole team unsually. It depends on the whole situation.

Like if 1 person is hooked across the map, one slugged and the other getting chased you should go for the save. If the person coming to your gen is dead on hook you should stop repairing and heal them. If you all have a 3 gen and everyone is dead on hook but you haven't been hooked you should be the one trying to break the 3 gen and take the chases. There are multiple factors that influence what behaviour is the best in the given moment.

And if they' were red "rank" and probably higher mmr they probably assumed everyone else would be same skill level too.

I sometimes get frustrated with clueless teammates if I expect them not to be clueless, despite the fact that I know mmr doesn't work as it should. I am not saying their behaviour was ok though! Just that there might be explanations and therefore things that you can do to prevent you from getting sandbagged or treated badly by teammates by just learning.

I always try to find out if I made a mistake when someone is sandbagging me. I try find out if they had a reason for their behaviour because of my decisions and the way I played. And I assume that others do the same (probably not the case in most people). If I get sandbagged by someone from the same platform I usually ask why they were doing it in order to understand and sometimes we have a good discussion.

  • That's exactly why I asked. I guess everyone experienced it, even without an obvious reason. But if someone says "I got them bothered" it makes me think they know they did something that provoked them. Some people lack the ability to see their mistakes, like someone I played with. He sandbagged someone multiple times because he thought they brought him the killer. He runs bond every match and therefore assumes that everyone knows where the other survivors are. He also tends to do save gens in the corner of the map. That person had no perk or item to find survivors and did the right thing: leave the area in the middle with the 3 gen where others were working on a gen to solve the 3 gen problem. He was and is too stubborn to admit that he made a mistake and that it was his fault the other two (a team as well) left him to die on his next hook. There are a lot of people like that and they obviously wouldn't say "I got them bothered" even if they did something that would explain the behaviour. So I guess we aren't told the whole story and I like to have the full picture in order to give advice or a statement. Cause that guy I played with would probably have some incorrect storys painting a picture of sandbagging or bad teammates, when he brought it all to himself.

  • @concernedkiller said:

I think it just goes to show how asymmetrical this game is at the moment that when playing killer I can leave a game, wait out the penalty and then dodge some dubious lobbies and still find a match faster than when I queue with a 4 man swf squad. Is there that few killers playing right now? The balancing does feel a bit surv sides but its honestly not unplayable. You'd think with a quarter of games being a camping bubba that survivors would find time to switch roles. My guess is the CIV player base is growing.

Really? I have insta lobbies with survivor and waiting for a killer game is only a little longer. Though it does depend on at what time I play and varies a bit. I don't see much difference.

  • @Pizzasauce said:

So, there I was, fixing a generator, when a Nea comes up and totally sandbags me. Like stands right beside me trying to get the killer to notice me. Well the killer doesn't bite and I take off. A short time later this Nea is trying to repair my generator and Spirit puts her in the dying state before phasing off to chase somebody else. Well, I hopped the window, ignored her body, and worked on the generator. This was when all hell broke loose.

You see, that Nea had a twin. And they continued to bully me that entire match. I tried to make nice by rescuing one of them from a hook, but it didn't help. Eventually I was hooked. Once hooked, they kept grabbing me and letting go, so that I would continously scream. Spirit downed one of them then ran off. Dwight came over and healed them and left me on the hook, where they continued grabbing and letting go, until I died.

Afterwords, I see that they're both iri 1, whereas I was on my friends account who is ash 4. I had one perk equipped, and was level 1 with my character.

I wanted to laugh about this. That I got them that bothered that they focused their entire game on me. Then I wanted to forget about it and played a couple games of killer. But you know what? My stomach still hurts. So I'm talking about it.

What does "I got them that bothered that they focused their entire game on me"? The way you put it, it sounds like you did something to make them or at least one of them angry. What did you do?

Ah, I knew someone would try to claim that. Nope!

I went into the match not intending to kill anyone. I was only doing a daily. 2 hooks each only.

I don't know what the two who DC where doing but I just never saw them until the end. No one was touching gens either (hence the low points). When I came across the same survivor again I figured I'll just hook again and leave them alone for the rest of the match. I left the hook and didn't go anywhere near it and no one save them. At that stage I did think "maybe I will go for kills for being bad team mates." Once again no sign of the two muppets who DC. So hook the other one I had already hooked and once again the last two didn't bother coming for the save.

Can't blame me for if someone dies on second hook when there is opportunity to save.

Guess it's true that no good deed goes unpunished.

tl;dr no, I did not "tunnel" intentionally.

Sure someone would claim that, that is why you knew. Other people don't know about your intentions so for survivor decision in the match it doesn't really matter what you intend to do. What matters is how you play. That is something only you 5 would know.

It sounds like you chased one survivor and hooked them again and then went for the other that might have saved that hooked survivor but couldn't due to getting chased. Why would you assume that the other survivors, that already left one to die, would go to save the other?

And frankly the 2 that dc'ed obviously did nothing for the team as they even let the survivors die on hook. None of them would've deserved the hatch. Why would you reward this antimate behaviour with the hatch (that is what you said in your first post)?

What etiquette? There's no right or wrong way to play as a killer. You sound exactly someone I played against less than a week ago who whined about etiquette when I tunneled one or two of the survivors.

There is no rules on how a killer should play, survivors can't make up their own rules for how a killer should play.

You missed the point where etiquette was for everyone- not just one side- and based on empathy.

Every human (except for those with a brain damage that disables the ability to feel empathy) would be able to tell the behaviours that count as not acting on etiquette. This fact make it a unviseral thing instead of subjective made up kind of thing.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

It does feel exasperating, but then I also remind myself that I'm not a mind-reader and they may be thinking somebody else is going to rescue me.

On occassion I can see all 3 a fair distance away, but when one suddenly starts being chased, if the others notice this they come to save me.

SoloQ does have this extra challenge, but whenever I've had an aura-reading perk in my arsenal at least one other survivor has come to my aid efficiently.

It's not so much that my fellow survivors are "bad"; moreover they just do not have that information and also there are many other factors that may result in them not coming for the save (close to finishing a gen, killer nearby, healing, feel they are too far away).

Finally, an unpopular opinion: Let's not pretend it's always the other survivors being bad. I guarantee everyone has been that survivor that has irrated others and it happens at every level. I watched a Dowsey video on a survivor challenge where Dowsey actively told Otz of a trap directly in front of him, was very clear and yet Otz still ran into it, despite no pressure. People make mistakes, but doesn't mean they are bad. Use some empathy and realise you have been that guy in other trials. Besides, there is always next trial.

I agree everyone makes mistakes. But even kindred doesn't guarantee getting unhooked b4 2nd status. And while Otz is a very good killer he (no offense) is nowhere near his killer skills when it comes to survivor. I would rate him low-average. He even lacks knowleadge when it comes to overall survivor gameplay strategies and in game decision making that could make up for his average looping skills. Not trying to offend anyone but Otz isn't a good example for high skilled survior gameplay.

these last few matches have been painful with horrible teammates. My god teammates constantly leaving me on the hook and getting to second state. This past match I had enough. These guys left me on the hook into second state and and this Felix thought I was gonna play after that. I went right up to the killer and let the artist kill me. She stood the staring at me as I begged her to put me out of my misery. And she did. Thank you if you were on ps4 I would have sent you a thank you message.

It depends for me. Usually, if it isn't the third time in a row, if all the teammates are productive on gens and the killer proxycamps anyway I just take it. If no one of my teammates is getting chased and they leave their gens to crouch somewhere I'll gladly let go.

Actually I hate it if they let me get to 2nd and even more if they then as soon as I got to 2nd rush for the unhook. I might get ignored because of possible bt or slugged for possible ds by the killer instead of being able to leave the match asap.

Because we would see a lot more situations like this (on both sides). The DCs were the last two survivors alive. One jumped into a locker right in front of me. When I pulled them out. DC right away. I thought screw it, I'll give the last one hatch but they DC a few second later. I suspect maybe they were playing together. I still don't even understand why they did it in this situation.

These are legitimate strategies that are part of the game and will NEVER be removed 🙂

If you can't have fun because of them, there are plenty of other games to play, like Metro Exodus, Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, The Sims 4, Propnight, Crystar, Bright Memory: Infinite, Command and Conquer 3: Red Alert, Rabi-Rabi, Fire Pro Wrestling World, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, Koihime Enbu, Skullgirls, Deus Ex, Portal, Half Life 2: Episode 2, Alan Wake, Alpha Protocol, Bayonetta, Boson X, Crisis in the Kremlin, Pathologic 2, The Void, Sleeping Dogs, Life is Strange, Way of the Samurai 4, Insurgency, Left 4 Dead 2, Splitgate, ATOM RPG, Eternal Senia, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Wasteland 2: Director's Cut, Europa Universalis 4, Drifter, The Silver Case, Honey Select 2, and Civ 6.

Stop being a survivor crybaby and just enjoy the game.

If you aren't in the position to make decisions about the game you should refrain from saying what is going to happen and what not, simply because you don't know it.

You are free to recommend other games, but it isn't up to you if someone complains and keeps playing or if someone plays even if they don't enjoy the game.

Btw insulting isn't ok. Calling someone a crybaby isn't ok. Showing feelings isn't wrong, indeed it is a NORMAL and HEALTHY reaction. It is part of being human. I know it is common nowadays for people to try to deamean, shame and ridicule feelings and emotional reactions, but one should refrain from spreading or promoting this false shaming.

Therefore you should refrain from telling people how to feel, how to express their feelings or trying to disparage and shame someone for showing any specific feeling. No one has the right to demean or judge feelings of others. We can judge behaviour and actions. Maybe keep that in mind next time you're trying to make someone feel bad about showing a feeling or having a feeling.

I've recently begun to notice that some survivors seem to render certain killer players as obnoxious for playing a certain way during the trials i.e camping/tunneling. While I can understand this experience can be upsetting (I've faced it on numerous occasions) I don't see it as a reason to view the killer player as obnoxious though. I've also seen this escalate further to bullying and harassment happening in the end game chat, where unspeakable and awful comments are passed to others as a result of it. In the game (especially in it's currently climate with MMR) killer's must do everything they can to achieve even what is considered "a fair and balanced win" which is a 2K sometimes. One thing survivors need to realize is that the killer is the antagonist, they are supposed to be oppressive and do everything they can in order achieve their objective. As long as they do that within the parameters of the game's rules they can try and achieve their objective in any way they see fit. It is not your call to make. Killer's are not your playthings who are to bend your wishes just so YOU can have fun. They have to have fun as well and if this is how they decide to have fun then so be it. Killer's are players too we must remember. If the way killer's play to accomplish their goals (which is in contrast to yours of course) upsets or contradicts your subjective sense of what you feel entitled to then it may be in your best interest to play something else. This is the way it is.

This isn't "the way it is" but the way you see it- aka your opinion. Others might have different opininions. Anyone is free to play whatever they want to play. If someone wants to complain they're free to complain. If someone wants to criticize a behaviour or playstyle they're as free to criticize it as the other person is to play in any way they like. Critique isn't insulting. Insults are not okay. If someone gets upset playing dbd it is their problem and still their decision to play it and get upset as much as they want to. We're not that person so it's not our decision what they should play. We sure can recommend other games but even then it is up to that person to decide.

So intentionally killing yourself on hook is not a thing? Most survivors who go for 3 self unhook tries in a row right after being hooked know exactly what they’re doing.

they know the base percentage is so low that they’re almost guaranteed to force stage 2 right away, then they can just miss the skill checks and boom, they’re out of that game in about 10-15 seconds

They'll still need the killer to hook them. Maybe you didn't know, but survivors have no influence and no ability to get on the hook themselves. I've had plenty situations where I got slugged for 4 minutes before getting hooked 2nd time if I tried to kill myself on 1rst hook because the killer hardcore tunneled the 1rst survivor.

  • @Akumakaji said:

We actually have a new perk that cjust does this, ie Grim Embrace. In its current state its somewhat lackluster, but it could be worked with.

The problem is that you absolutely have no payoff for hooking 1-3 survivors and then the effect for the 4th can come at a moment were it isn't that suitable. You have very little control about when it goes off, if it goes off at all etc. Maybe we could do something like a reverse "No Way Out" in that the gens get blocked for longer or shorter, depending how well you are doing. The fewer gens you have remaining when you hook the 4th survivor, the longer the remaining ones will be blocked.

No everyone has access to that perk and it might help in game, but I'd like a different reward. That is why I propsed bp or shards that would be rewarded to anyone being able to get the 4 survivors hooked each before a survivor gets hooked a second time. The reward would be for the effort and the round being more difficult as one might have to go out of their way to accomplish. It'd add a possible different goal for those that aren't that much into tryharding but still like a competition.

A question, why do you think 12 hook states need to be distributed evenly? Can you imagine if we proposed this idea for gens? No gen can be completed unless there is an equal distribution of progress across all gens! Tunneling 5 gens 0 -> 100% as fast as possible isn't fair!

Not sure if this question is directed at me. If it is: When did I talk about 12 hook stages? Right I did not.

I might not have explained good enough. Probably there is a biased way of thinking involved as well.

    And who is "we"?

I propsed that each survivor has to be hooked one after another in the beginning of the game (so everyone has been hooked once before someone gets hooked a second time) to get an extra reward. If one isn't able to achieve that in a round (it might not always be possible) nothing changes for them.

I think giving killers more incentive to chase different survivors is healthy.

Sounds interesting. It depends on what you might have in mind about that. Could you get into detail?

If it's just "starting a chase" that would be zero effort and that doesn't sound like something worthy rewarding as it happens by sight and is probably more difficult to not achieve then to achieve.

    1. But fair play is different to different people. In regards to DBD, you're saying 'Fair play' is NOT camping, or tunneling. Which means 'Fair play' is 'Killers not trying as hard to win'.
    2. This is fair, but again; how? Should Survivors stop doing gens if they are doing them too fast? If Killers are expected to give 'Final hatch' instead of a 4K; should Survivors let one person be killed if they will ahve a 4-man escape?
    3. That's on you. But no one else should be expected to do that just because you want to do it.
    4. See #3
    5. No. You're trying to shame people though passive-aggressive comments.
    6. It's logic: If I camp someone on 1st hook until they die, then I'm not getting BP for 2 more hooks. I'm also missing out on any future chase points, hits, and possible pallet breaks by killing them in 1 hook. If I slug someone, then I'm not getting BP for ANY hooks (Or, only the hooks I already did, which means missing 1 or 2, max).
    1. If you have read my first post at all, then you'd know that I am talking about the first 4 hooks being different survivors. It might not always be possible (depending on what someone is going for or how deeply they feel the need to get a 4K to feel satisfied), but it's not necessary for every person to tryhard every casual round. Some people have played for a long time and like some chill rounds with different goals. -If someone goes for a tryhard round because they feel like it, try a daily, trophy or achievement they can do so with no change at all.
    2. I haven't said that the killer is supposed to give anyone hatch. How do you come up with this and why do you feel it is appropriate to say that as IF it was my claim? It wasn't and you pretending I said that won't change it. If I have enough information (how experienced the killer player is and the other survivors are) I have stopped doing gens in a lot of my games. That is probably not possible for everyone at least from my experience (most of the survivors I get as teammates) aren't even able to prevent a 3 gen or have any idea about strats or map layout or even perks. But for those being able I'd like them to do so.
    3. He said NO one does that in that kind of game. That is my response to that person acting as if everyone was like that. No that isn't true. I and my longest known gamer friends are all playing like that. Right we cannot influcence others to be a certain way or play a certain way. Every person is free to decide what kind of person they want to be, how they want to think and how they want to act/behave.
    4. No one can stop them, BUT everyone has the right to judge how someone behaves and what kind of picture they paint of themselves in society. We/They might not like the judgement, but we all have to live with getting judged.
    5. You are FREE to judge me like that JUST as I am FREE to judge. If I see bad behaviour, if I hear something I feel is inappropriate I will state my opinion just as FREE as anyone. :) Feel free to judge my behaviour and my statements.
    6. You obviously didn't read or understand my comment. Proxycamping isn't facecamping. And Tunneling isn't facecamping. You had no valid point here. Maybe go back and read and understand instead of assuming whatever you want to think I stated.

Whether you are withhold the carrot or using a stick to get killers to do what you want, it's still a punishment to me at a killer if I end up with a survivor as my opponent who has decided that they are never going to be spotted ever.

I always try to naturally spread out my hooks (to at times a big detriment to myself; unless a survivor goes out of their way like BT Body Blocking, I will let them go to go after the unhooker) but there are situations where I have no choice because I can't find anyone else to go after.

It sucks for the person getting spotted if they're the ones doing stuff so that means I run into them way more often or if they're just bad at hiding while everyone else is a damn ninja but I see no reason why I as a killer should be punished (and yes, withholding a prize due to something out of my control IS a punishment; I also think that's why you're so baffled at people's response because you feel like not giving killers something isn't a punishment while clearly others disagree with your definition).

I guess we'll have to agree that we disagree. I really can't understand why you are seeing a possible reward so negative.

Why do you think it's unfair if the opponent tries to win?

I disn't say that it was unfair if someone tried to win.

Actions, decisions and behaviour can be unfair.

You're problem is you think 'Fairness' is 'Killers handicap how they play', and feel you can force that idea on others though passive-aggressive comments.

It's a PvP game; Why should one side be 'fair' to the other?

Do you NOT kill someone in a Battle Royale because you found a better gun than them? Do you NOT kill the finale person on a point or payload in an FPS, because your team is up 40 points and it'd be more 'fair' to let them score at least once?

No. You play to win, because the end-state is win or lose. Sure, you can have fun if you lose. But no one can blame you for having more fun if you win, or blame you for trying to win. (Within the rules of the game. IE: No cheats or exploits.)

So stop with this 'Oh my! People are SO OFFENDED over fair play!' passive-aggressive tripe.

Also, hooking seperate Survivors IS rewarded; with more BP. A camping/tunneling/slugging Killer earns less BP. 😉

    1. No. I don't think that "Fairness is Killers handicap how they play...". I believe that playing anyone playing a game should stick to fairplay, because we all have an innate sense of fairness.
    2. No I think all sides should be fair
    3. If I play a something like tlou multiplayer I still stick to fairplay ;) . If for example my team has all the interrogations and the other team has none or few I give them multiple chances to interrogate me or anyone they downed. Why not, we're all there to have fun and I won't loose anthing over that. In these situations I change to a type of gun that I'm not good with or change to handgun only. But it is still different cause it isn't an asymetical game. Makes it easier for 1 person to change the balance of power compared to being a survivor in dbd.
    4. I play to win if the balance of power is equal. I like to see what happens if it's 50-50 chance of winning or loosing. That is indeed easier to estimate in shooter games than in dbd.
    5. No thanks. It's up to me if I want to point it out if I see that people are talking as if they were offended by fairplay or fariness. Rising awareness or pointing something out is anyones right.
    6. Do you have data about hooking survivors seperately is rewarded higher than proxycamping and then tunneling?

Problem is: You can't punish or fox tunneling/camping/slugging without overhauling the Gen times. because the moment you force Killers into a 12 hook game; they will leave. With current gen speeds + the plethora of 2nd chance perks; only the best have even half a chance at 12-hooking.

Even players like Otz sometimes see 4-man escapes. And that's when they don't HAVE to avoid tunneling, camping, or slugging.

The moment you take away a Killer's ability to say 'I want this guy dead' or 'I need to camp him out, because no one is on gens'. The moment the game says 'No, you have to let them go'; The Killer is no longer making his own choices on how to play. He's being forced to give up unhooks because the game made him.

And that's not a possible way to win, in 5 minute matches.

And considering the amount of Survivors who say 'Git Gud' whenever gen speeds are brought up...Gens will never be changed/nerfed.

Which means slugging, camping, and tunneling can't be changed, or you won't have any Killers left to play against.

    1. Where did I say punish anything?
    2. My suggestion of rewarding fairplay has no obligation added. If one plays fair they get a reward, if not it's all the same. That player JUST doens't get this ADDITIONAL reward. So maybe you want to READ before you answer?
  • It is kind of interesting for me to see these comments.

No one would loose anything just some would get a reward for playing differently. Nevertheless the answers here sound as if I was recommending something very awful or big. Everyone seems so deeply offended... by the mere suggestion of fairness being rewarded.

I am not sure what to think of that outcome.

  • @Chordyceps said:

Tired of not getting chased? just git bad lmao

It's not just that. I also don't like unfair behaviour and feel bad if I see someone getting tunneled, slugged and camped and they have no chance to get points or do anything or have fun for that matter.

" one survivor that is better at looping then the rest of the team, but that doesn't happen as frequently as it did before mmr was in place." - not from my experience. Happens just as often.

"if they are could you explain why you are against rewarding fairplay" - fairplay? By the unwritten rulebook? sighh. There is not enough time for "fairplay". Weak targets need to be determined quickly and eliminated ASAP if killed doesn't want to see a butt dance at the gates.

So we'll have to disagree on that one. I've had less games like that and you say it's the same. Could both be true.

I see you have 0 clue what fairplay is. Just inform yourself (I guess you are able to google it ;), have fun learing something new)

Sometimes fairplay will lead to a lost. Anyone is free to decide to play for the reward or not. It would be an additional reward for doing so as it usually will make you go out of your way making your round a bit more difficult.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

I've found there are one of two reasons why I can have 3 people hooked multiple times while the 4th person has remained untouched

    A. They are really good at looping/chases. I have determined that after my first chase with them so I make a tactical decision to go after the weaker survivors and let the super good chaser do whatever. I won't straight up ignore them if I get a free/easy shot on them but I think they think I'm stupid as I will constantly start to chase them and watch them bolt to a Double L and then get confused why I stopped chasing them...

    B. They are hiding/stealthy. This seems to be a lot more common that I've seen where the 4th person is just sneakier than the others (or the others are so obvious with where they're at that the 4th person just flies under the radar).

Neither situation I feel like I should be punished for as a killer.

Nobody talked about punishing anything. You are making things up.

All I am talking about is that if I play Killer and try to get all 4 survivors on a hook before I hook someone for the 2nd time even if it makes my round a little more difficult I feel like an extra reward would be nice.

No one says you or anyone has to play fair, just that if someone does it would be rewarded.

  • @Thrax @SunsetSherbet

I know what you are refering to. It might sometimes be the case that you have a team with one survivor that is better at looping then the rest of the team, but that doesn't happen as frequently as it did before mmr was in place.

I'm not too sure if your comments are arguments against my suggestion... if they are could you explain why you are against rewarding fairplay (which, in some cases, will make it more difficult to win)?

For some games nothing would change, but for the other rounds players will get an additional reward for playing fair. I'd like a reward for my playstyle and to be frank I feel like fairplay deserves a reward. Therefore if people choose not to play like it at least they don't get the same as those trying harder to ensure fairness and everyones fun.

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

Not sure how you'd go about enforcing this without just straight-up revealing the 4th survivor old OoO style.

Also, is this that common? I sometimes do this as well, but that's simply because of who I encounter at gens.

I run bbq with a lot of killers and it's a common perk that I see in trials. And it's not like you get a penalty if you don't play like that you just don't get the reward ;)

I've had a lot of games. Not too sure if it's "that" common. I guess it's not for one person to decide if it is or not. But I feel it isn't that easy to spot cause it's not always "you" that gets ignored. Some people are probably happy not getting spotted or chased (maybe hit once and thenimmediately left) the whole match as it gives you nice escape points without an actual chase.

  • Dear survivors,

1.why are you trying to save the sandbagging teammate that farmed two of you on death hook without bt even, right when I chased them? Just don't. Be thankful that their behaviour did get punished for once.

2.I know it might have seemed like I was faking being new to killer, but I was actually just chillin'. Just you flashlight clicking and tbagging (because you think it's fun against an unexperienced killer) is not ok and you deserved to not escape.

3.thanks for not leaving instantly and trying to get the 4 man out. I appreciate that <3

    Dear antimate,

1.yes you were hiding pretty good and I sometimes let the last survivor get the hatch but you don't deserve to escape.

2.yes I relized that you were trying to sandbag (because you were always running towards other survivors on gens or hoooked). No, you're not getting rewarded for that.

3.I know your plan- to loose the killer on others- usually works out fine. As most people don't care or pay attention, but you cannot expect it to work all the time. I will certainly do what I can to prevent you from escaping.

    Dear killer,

1.thanks for fairplay <3. Yes that was a purple beamer that I left for you.

2.why are you rewarding that antimate with the hatch? Did you play a different game or are you having your head in the clouds...?

3.no I am not taking the escape. You tunneled and camped everyone from the start and now you're trying to "save your soul"/not have to feel bad or guilty by giving the last survivor the hatch? Nah. I don't even care for surviving and I certainly won't help you to clear up your conscience.

4.sorry I saved that teammate. If I knew beforehand that they were tbgagging I would have left them to die.

5.I know you're pretty new to it, thanks for trying your best and sorry they tbagged you at the exit.

6.I'm not playing this. You hardcore tunneled the first one from the start and I won't give you a chase. I won't run, but tbag you. I want you to have zero fun. I want you to have easy, boring wins (just as you wish). Only till you get destroyed by a toxic swf that tbaggs and bullys you as you deserve.

7.no I am not an easy kill. I was just being nice and trying to help you out because I realized you were doing that challenge/trophy. But if you decide to tunnel I'll make it difficult.

I cannot understand how they think, she obviously could see I was getting chased since I was the obssession, so why would she walk around doing nothing? staying hidden while the killer is on someone else doing all the looping sounds boring AF, I don't understand

Me neighter. I have no idea what kind of person has fun doing that or is able to behave like that without feeling guilty and useless. I mean it happens way to often to assume that they're all meming, right?
