"then it's on the survivors to discourage the behavior by playing better by either not feeding the camper or being better at protecting their unhooks."

I only agree on that statement partly. But It feels like it is coming from the same place where people say women should just not leave the house when it’s dark and if they do and get molested it is their fault for being out there or wearing something wrong. Or when a child is bullied at school and someone claims they are to blame for the situation because they don't wear branded clothes or because they listen to the wrong music. Victim blaming is not ok. It is wrong. Always. Everywhere. Anytime. Wrong behaviour is wrong. The fault is on the person exhibiting that behaviour and on no one else.

As decent people, we should not excuse or explain wrongdoing. We should condemn it. Anyone who behaves differently protects the perpetrators. Whoever protects the perpetrator is himself a perpetrator. Good people are not perpetrators. We are responsible for our decisions. For what we do as well as what we don't do when we should do something. Allowing wrong to be done is no less guilty than doing wrong.

But I agree on the point that always suspecting the most malicious behind behavior is not useful or appropriate. You have the opportunity to see which rituals there are and which trophies, to find out whether that could be the reason, you can ask some people. In most cases, I trust people to differentiate between behavior based on selfish and sadistic motives from other behavior. For example, I can't think of a reasonable excuse for the following scenarios, unless one of the scenarios described occurred before the other. The round has just begun and a survivor loops and tbagged the killer and blinds him to each pallet. -> Clearly not appropriate behavior that cannot be excused or explained by anything. A killer who proxy camped the first person he hooked and every time after the rescue he tunnels himself if the other survivors take blows or even let themselves down for the person and the killer still chases that person until they get out of the loop is. -> Pure egoism or sadism that cannot be excused or explained in any other way.

we can have diverging opinions on if something qualifies as X.

but not on the definition of X.

you can't redefine the word cube to make it describe a circle

Show me the official definition. There is none, I was searching for one. And as there is none it is up to us how we define it.

you cannot tunnel more than one person.

tunneling is called that, because you don't diverge from your route. this route being "kill X guy"

if you chase anyone else at any point, how can it be tunneling? you're just playing the game

You have your opinion on how to define tunneling and what kinds of tunneling there are. I have mine. Neighter your opinion nor mine is wrong, they are just opininons.

  • @Crunc2h

That may be your wish, which is naturally explained by the denial of responsibility, cognitive dissonance theory and party through a self-serving bias. Still, you're wrong. In the game DBD itself there are two groups (killer players and survivor players) who are in conflict with each other regarding their goals. Both groups belong to the superordinate group of online multiplayer. Those who interact online in social groups with other individuals within a game. In social interactions and groups there are always norms and values (I have already explained both) that are based on morality. Morality usually refers to the factual patterns, conventions, rules or principles of specific individuals, groups or cultures and thus the totality of currently applicable values, norms and virtues. The group distinguishes its members from non-members who are attributed to the environment through togetherness. Membership becomes perceptible through recurring interrelationships, but it persists beyond pure interaction. Norms are formed through participation in group interaction (here: DBD playing together). However, these norms are often only "visible" or expressed for everyone in the event of a conflict. For example, those who do not explicitly contradict the behavior of the other group members during an interaction commit themselves to a self-presentation that they will accept the behavior - also for the future - without being able to legitimately protest against it. That is why we find ourselves in the forum in a discussion about the norms and values of our group. If your reasoning were correct, we would have no discussion, no conflicts and you would not have had any experience of social sanction due to your misconduct in the game. You assert, without any evidence or argument, that morality is situational. This is wrong. In virtual space, the same rules apply to groups if it doesn't suit you and some of the others. Incidentally, the correctness of all my statements and arguments can be confirmed by the simplest research (specialist literature) (e.g. Wikipedia, dictionaries). People with damage in areas of the brain that control emotional assessments also usually have great problems with moralizing actions. Researchers like the Bielefeld neuropsychologist Hans Joachim Markowitsch suspect such defects also in psychopaths (see GuG 7-8 / 2009, p. 28).

Paul Rozin of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia has been researching the power of disgust since the 1980s. As he and his colleagues have shown, immorality literally arouses physical disgust in us. Disgust, explains Rozin, not only has a biological protective function and already saved our ancestors from ingesting potentially toxic food. The "useful aversion" has been carried over to the rules of the community in the course of evolution. Injustice, fraud and murder have disgusted us ever since - and due to the common neural equipment, it probably feels the same for everyone. Prof. Paul Bloom received the Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize 2017 for his research on the origins and development of moral thinking and behavior in children. He (like others) was able to prove that we are born with an elementary sense of justice and fairness. Paul Bloom concludes from a whole series of experiments: Babies as early as three months old can distinguish between good and bad behavior. They have a sense of morality and they show compassion; they cry when others cry. Even toddlers distribute sweets fairly and they expect wrongdoers to be punished. You assert, without any evidence or argument, that morality is situational. This is wrong. In virtual space, the same rules apply to groups if it doesn't suit you and some of the others. Moral ideas are not always and completely reflected in behavior (apparently applicable to you). All too often it can even be observed that people consciously or unconsciously deny or reject their moral responsibility. People have a fundamental need to maintain a stable, positive self-image and to be socially accepted. For example, acting immorally or making wrong decisions can lead to discomfort that goes against our typically positive self-perception (cognitive dissonance). Following the theory of cognitive dissonance, people strive for consistency between what they think and how they act (Festinger, 1957). Dissonances that arise due to the discrepancy between what we believe and our actual behavior are perceived as a threat to our self-image. In response to this threat, people try to reduce it through various strategies. This can either be done by changing behavior to align with dissonant cognition, changing dissonant cognition to justify our behavior, or adding more cognitions to justify our behavior. The processes of dissonant reduction run essentially unconsciously and are therefore not only rational, but rather rationalizing. People who are largely concerned with dissonant reduction, i.e. who want to convince themselves that they have acted correctly, often tend to behave irrationally and inappropriately. Wills (1997) and Kanning (2000) described cognitive and behavioral self-enhancement strategies, and Tajfel and Turner (1986) individual and collective self-enhancement strategies. In the course of cognitive strategies, people can tend to change their "view of things", for example to see themselves more positively or to question the critics' ability to judge. • @Crunc2h

In relation to your comments and complaints (which are often found here): In your text I only read "I, I, I". Not in the literal sense, but figuratively. Your "criticism" sounds like a hurt, angry child who rebels against social norms because they limit their personal freedom, goals and needs. Apparently you see norms only as moral behavior determined by others and you lack the understanding of the need to adhere to them. In our society and in social groups, values are a prerequisite for living together harmoniously. Therefore, following norms is closely linked to reward and punishment. Obviously you have behaved or acted in a (norm-) deviating or provocatively deviant manner and have been punished for it. Social sanctions, such as contempt, reprimand, disapproval, social ostracism / exclusion or antipathy, have a social integration function and are intended to regulate socially undesirable and norm-violating behavior. Although an unpopular norm (like here: fair play) in differing interest groups (like here: killer vs. survivor) can, according to general understanding, only be achieved through a system of sanctions, I still hope that it is also possible through education. Even if I have to admit that the number of people who, from a selfish perspective, consider it advantageous not to adhere to this norm is quite high at DBD. It may help you (and others) realize that, despite the fact that you consider your individual freedom to be very important, it does not take precedence over other values in society. As I said, compliance with social norms is subject to social control. Therefore, if your behavior or actions are criticized (after your anger and being injured have disappeared) you should deal critically with the situation. Then you can ask yourself which norms were important from both perspectives (killer side and survivor side) and then try to objectively identify the one that stands higher in the value hierarchy.

It works more simply for one's own behavior (which we can only judge objectively with difficulty) with the golden rule: “What you don't want someone to do to you, don't do it to anyone else”. Caution, some act (depending on their current role) in such a way that it can be described as double standards.

Since I have the impression that some terms are possibly not familiar, I explain them:

Morality: totality of all current (social) norms, values and virtues.

Values / moral concepts: ethical and moral objectives of properties, actions etc. that are considered worth striving for/desirable or morally good, etc. Social norms can be derived from values.

Social norms: Are concrete rules for social action. Instructions for social action that relate to social behavior and define/prescribe possible forms of action in certain social situations.

Moral evaluation: subjective expression of approval (morally good, e.g. applause) or rejection (morally bad, e.g. boos) when assessing actions.

So what does that mean specifically in your case? What did you (apparently) do wrong?

    The value is fairness

The moral / value concept is "Morally good people behave in the game according to the rules of fair play"

Social norm: "Treat others fairly" "Follow the rules of fair play"

Moral evaluation of unfair actions / behavior leads to messages or statements about your behavior or generalized statements about your person (characterization based on the behavior shown): "You behave unfairly" "You are selfish" "You behave immorally / not like a (morally) good person "

The moral evaluation aims to point out your moral error, your provocatively deviant action and to bring about a change from undesired / intolerable to desirable behavior.

Small addition for those interested: There is a document (The Universal Declaration of Human Duties) from the 50th anniversary of the United Nations (1997), which describes 19 articles on the duties of all people. Include among others: To behave in a peaceful, friendly, understanding and helpful manner (there is also the golden rule!). Each individual is subject to their conscience and is responsible for their own actions. It prohibits violence, but does not preclude self-defense in the event of an attack. Demand for just and fair behavior!

And depending on the discipline (criminology, sociology, psychology, neurobiology, etc.) there are different explanations for deviant behavior. It is also interesting that the antisocial personality disorder manifests itself through constant disregard for social norms, violation of the rights of others and the ruthless pursuit of one's own goals.

  • @Crunc2h

    Regarding your definition and assumptions:

I share your definitions of camping, but not of tunneling. As can be distinguished between proxy and face camping, different types of tunneling can also be distinguished. Personally, I distinguish between two forms, which I define as follows:

Tunneling: The killer player follows one or more survivor players immediately after they have been rescued.

Hard-core tunneling: The killer player chases a single survivor regardless of whether others are injured or down.

Strictly speaking, there are also mixed types of tunnelling and of camping.

If camping or tunneling begins in the end game (all or almost all generators are finished), I personally rate it as less objectionable.

If any of this behaviour is shown in the beginning of the game without an objective (tbagging, pointing constantly) provocation, then I rate it as a deliberate and deviant violation of morals and values.

  • It was not a legendary skin nor a blendette. And that was in the beginning, it was one gen done when she got hooked 2nd time.

  • A friend of mine has the same issue. He can loose pips but not gain any due to this. Needs to be fix asap!

Im not sure about extending the stun but being able to not leave scratch marks and blood trail during the 5 second stun could be good.

    I'd be ok with that.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

As a survivor main I would say I'm overall happy for this change. It would make the game fair and bridge the balance between survivors.

I have little concerns but I'm for the change. Plus its still really strong in the endgame and can still be used in lockers so I'm still satisfied.

Same, but I think they should change it so the timer stops going down if the unhooked survivor is getting chased right after. Many times I got tunneled after the unhook and by the time I got downed the timer ran out already. If it was up to me the stun should last longer and the killer should and scratchmarks should disappear after the stun so the killer is punished a lot for his decision.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Thing is, they want to make it more anti-tunnel, but it does not work anymore when I get slugged (aka tunneled) unless I equip Unbreakable AND if the Killer needs 60 seconds to catch me again.

I am totally fine with the restrictions they mentioned, they make sense. But this only addresses one side, making it anti-tunnel from the restrictions, without making the effect anti-tunnel.

I thought the same. How many times did I get tunnled off the hook and downed when ds ran out already... . I mean if it is supposed to be an anti-tunnel perk now the< should take care of this as well. Maybe stop the timer if the person is getting chased.

The kill rate for my survivor games is pretty high. Usually, there's at least one or two survivors on the team who are absolutely awful.

    What rank are you playing?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1891908#Comment_1891908

Do you stream or record your matches with all this happening? I'd like to see this.

I do not stream, I might have some recorded but usually I save games that have something epic or nice in them, not those typical boring games that show mistakes or selfish plays that kill the whole team in the long run. And I definitely haven't got the time to rewatch every match to find those examples.

btw I wasn't implying anything. From my experience the stats should be higher. But as I have no information about the numbers of swf games vs. SoloQ in the different ranks that might be the cause. But it could be that I just have very bad luck as well. Who knows. I am just interested in hearing what others have experienced lately in order to check and compare.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1891848#Comment_1891848

No, I get lots of bad teammates. The reason it works is because I get the killers attention and loop for the team. You know how to carry in other words.

"Even you should know, that your survival of 75% of your games in solo Q, has to be an exception, as it would change the numbers in the stats dramatically. Consider yourself lucky :)"

You're missing my point. My point is not that this is the average. My point is that if I'm doing it than so can y'all, and if you're not able to on average that you may also be the weak link.

My point is also that by your original post you seem to be pushing the match results as out of your control and solely because you get bad teammates. IE you give yourself very little agency.

Obviously not. If your team mates are actually getting gens done, while you distract the killer you should consider yourself lucky as well.

The team mates I get don't always do gens while I am chased. Not infrequently I am the first getting chased untill the killer leaves me and the first getting a gen done as well. Sometimes I am even the only one going for the save after I got said gen done.

I'd love getting more of the team mates that you say you get frequently, but I don't. I get some of those that dc after getting downed first time, some that kill themselves on their first hook after lasting a 30 sec chase. I get some that just farm someone else of the hook withouth bt and go down instantly as well, resulting in 2 people hook and 1 gen done. I get some that just fool around to have fun, not caring to escape but to bully the killer. etc.

But on top of those games (that I am counting as well if those players were red ranks, even if they weren't playing like red ranks), I get a lot of games that are played fair and good but end with a 3-4K as well. Good Killers get the 3-4 K's frequently, even if the Solo Q team is decent.

I said it already: You can consider yourself a lucky person when it comes to this game :) Be happy

How I just read here, maybe you are especially skilled. Maybe you are one of those that are even nowadays able to run the killer for 5 gens and the doors open easily, without leaving the map a dead zone without any good palett left. But an only decent player cannot do that.

U are here speaking for the upper 1% (probably PC Player as well) that do everything right, every time so even their less-skilled, scared, average or immersive team mates get all the gens and the gates. And you must be really special if a red rank killer actually commits to such a chase.

Tbh I can't help the impression that you might be a dazzler or troll. The red rank killers that I faced, never commited to a chase for so long if they couldn't even get a hit. They always walk off to find someone in a dead zone or someone that is easier to get.

I was rank 1 last season and I didn't play much this season so at 5 right now. Honestly pipping is not always about how other people perform. It is true in cases where you don't get saved or tunneled but otherwise it shouldn't matter that much.

I am red rank survivor since I started in 2018. Even now that I am barely playing survivor. I have zero problem getting my pips ;)

    I just noticed the change.

  • @Blueberry said:

The majority of us survive in my solo queue red rank games. Maybe 75% of the time at least. Maybe if ya'll are always dying it's related to you?

Current pipping and rank reset systems is piling up lots of people at higher ranks than they should be. IE red ranks right now for survivor is more like red-green ranks in reality.

I don't mean this to come across as insulting, it's just a current issue with the game.

The mayority of you all? Then call yourself lucky, seems you get all the decent survivor players, that fit their rank and behave like their rank and actually try to be a team with the other 3 strangers, most of the time. As you know that isn't the case for everyone- you just stated it yourself: There are a lot of people that are getting to red ranks that struggle against those experienced Killer players (going down after 10 seconds, just searching chests, totems and going for saves/ never touching a gen, killing themselves on first hook or dcing as soon as they got found).

Even you should know, that your survival of 75% of your games in solo Q, has to be an exception, as it would change the numbers in the stats dramatically. Consider yourself lucky :)

Anyway, thanks for your experience although I am honestly more interested in hearing about other ranks experiences.

I've been having fair matches as both survivor and killer. I don't really blame or care about my teammates or look to see how they perform. I just go for the pip.

Which rank are you playing in? How comes you aren't interested in your teammates at all? As far as I am informed it is supposed to be a 4 vs. 1, as in a team of 4 playing as a team (aka supporting each each other, doing their best to make sure as many of them have a chance to survive)

  • @NotACompPlayer said:

you need to get a lucky mix of a bad killer and teammates who can hold m1 to escape often in solo q, its the only hard gamemode left in dbd.

  • @StardustSpeedway said:

These past two weeks red ranks has been such a frustrating experience. Most matches for me as a solo end up in the killer getting 3-4 kills. Very rarely will I get a decent team of survivors who last in chases and do gens.

That meets my experiences. Thanks for sharing your experience :)

I wonder how the experience is in lower ranks and why there is no one telling.

  • @JimPickens666 said:

Ranks don't exists and is the killer 4kimg or are you just dying?

Again ranks don't really exist but if they do work properly you are in the best place possible. If you can't survive in red ranks (and are actually getting red or even purple teammates) i do encourage you to derank and experience the hell that is green and yellow ranks.

As a red rank survivor its not uncommon for me to get one legit baby killer, rank 20 1 perk killer a night also not uncommon to be paired with real baby survivors. Again im pretty sure ranks just don't exist

I explained what I meant by 4K-ing, but I can do it again: The killer gets at least 3 survivors dead. I don't count games, if the ranking system didn't work (aka having a killer that isn't red rank). I do count games with 1 (if it's a yellow) or two (green to purple) lower rank team mates.

Sorry to say that again but you sound like really frustrated guy and btw "These hints (or facts)?" remember that those hitns or facts in your opinion are correct and that doesnt mean they are really correct.

"Some people might fall for that. But you should always keep in mind, that most people see through it and recognize your real intention behind it."

See it your way i dont care. If you have to prove your point do it but does not expect that everyone see things the same way.

I admint i do take screenshots but it is only for data (kill/escape rates) believe me or not i dont care.

I dont see a reason to continue this conversation so sure you can replay to this but dont expect me to do the same thing. It is not worth our time cheers m8.

A discussion is a conversation (also dialogue) between two or more people (discussants) in which a certain topic is examined (discussed), with each side presenting their arguments. Therefore you should ask yourself if you actually want to have a discussion or not. If the answer is "no", then - I agree with you- a discussion is fruitless/a waste of time. You are free to believe and feel whatever you like, but I doubt this is the place for such subjective things.

Im not saying anything about their builds if they are toxic or not but as an example of dbd players logic.

Using pop for gen regression and bbq for imformation is toxic but haddonfield (one of the best maps for survivors) offering + toolbox with brand new part (fast gen progress) is fine at least for person "A". And again im not saying their builds on second screen are op or unfair ect. Im not saying anything about nerfing survivors or buffing killer. Im not complaining about ds, ooo, ruin, noed or any other perk in my comment. On the second screen we can see survivors build and as we already know red rank survivors/killers are aware of the perks and their strength and for some players those meta builds from both sides are really problematic.

Sorry to say that but you sound like really frustrated guy.

Maybe I was wrong implying that you are one of those complaining, you are definitely wrong assuming/claiming I'd be frustrated.

I assumed you were, because logic tells me that only someone that is one of those, would actually make a screen shot of that and save it. Why do you just "state" you feel I'd sound frustrated but lack to give an single reason for your conclusion? Usually, people who make a statement or an assertion like that would give a reason to make their point viable. If they are being truthful and sincere, that is.

These hints (or facts?) combined with the fact that you have chosen "Sorry to say that but..." as an introduction for your statement suggest some things. Using this Introduction talking to a stranger is soley as stylistic device in order to provoke the opponent. Whatever follows after that kind of introduction in this context only serves as a distraction from the topic. I suppose you chose it on the one hand to defame and provoke me, on the other hand to distract from my original statement and thereby minimize its substantive value.

Some people might fall for that. But you should always keep in mind, that most people see through it and recognize your real intention behind it.

Do you not realize how disturbing and sad your comment is? I mean at least to those with a healthy mental state. If you (or anyone else for that matter) feels pleasure and/or joy due to the idea of harming other living beings, hurting their feelings, or causing them pain, that is a symptom of mental illness... .

Yo, lil hint: Everyone does (yea even all the honourful killer) play like a piece. A Killer will tunnel/camp/whatever in order to win a game. They don't care if you have DS or not. If not, good for them. Same as a killer as you already experienced.

And now to you my friend. It's not toxic playing efficient. You have your goal, your objectives. And whatever is needed to do to outplay/sabotage the opponent, you just do it. If it means to stay near the hook or go risky and tunnel wunnel, or if it means to slug and take advantage of certain things if there is a realistic chance that it's worth it then yea. I do it, most people do it. And that is NOT toxic.

Toxic is when people go all in in the after game chat. I set it off years ago but when I just wanna look and see survivors or the killer being mad af I just tell them that I couldnt care less. Then I make some jokes and make fun about them. But if you are this type of person who's pretty sensitive you should just turn the chat off and dont care anymore.

No. People that have the same character as you might act the same way you do. But luckily for mankind not everyone is like you.

    #EDIT

I found one more screen. If using pop and bbq on legion is toxic, how about this (i dont mind those builds, for others they can be problematic)

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Z3Y3KTVZ40P6/image.png

I always feel it's ... interesting to see those pictures as examples. Even though (most of the time someone shows a picture) all the survivors shown in the pictures are red ranks, using meta perks, good items and add ons and are supposedly swf...

    Not a single one escaped.

At this point lets just keep in mind what we already know:

-This game is supposed to be balanced around 2K and 2escapes (Which makes total sense).

-There are a lot of people complaining about how ds should get nerfed and survivors overall, and how killers need a buff and how the devs are so survivor sided

-We also have the stats showing relatively high kill-rates overall

(--> That meets all the 4K pictures certain 'Complainers' are posting (to show survivors toxicity for using meta perks, playing swf etc. whilst getting the 4K against them?))

So we have all those players complaining about this but the facts point to something else, but those people still want survivors nerfed and killers buffed. Hmmm. Well. I feel this could be called a distorted perception of reality. I mean how should they change even more? A 100% kill-rate? Anyone with a brain could tell that no one would play the survivor role if was that way. I'd even argue that if the actual kill rates get any higher this will be the case.

  • @InsatiableMop said:

Pretty simple, people get tunneled off hooks so they run DS. which gives them the ability to use it in the ways killers hate i.e. baiting grabs and such, or "making mistakes." Not saying there wont be people who run it anyway, but if killers look to your tunneling brethren and say cut it out then you will probably run into fewer DS.

I had some games with the person playing killer proxy camping and tunneling. One was saying it was the survivors fault because no one brought ds. I am still very disgusted from that person when I think about their statement.

It's just people being rude and horrible as usual, because this is the internet where only your own feelings matter and the other side exist only to facilitate your fun.

Don't feel guilty or worried at all. If the survivors aren't being nice or playing fair, then you have no obligation or moral conscience as the killer to play fair or nice either.

Your statement is understandable, but like that not helpful. At least not in terms of reducing unfair, selfish, toxic and anti-social behavior. And I think that should be the goal. Some people have low emotional intelligence, some lack the basic human skill of anticipating what their behavior causes in others, some never learnt that they should treat others the same way they’d like to be treated, and others even lack the intelligence to realize that their behavior is not ok, because they don’t have self-reflection and/or empathy.

Nowadays our society often looks the other way for many reasons. That is why some of them got the impression that they could afford anything without being condemned and ostracized by society. This misjudgment manifests itself in anti-social behavior, especially on the Internet or in games. Because in these social spaces, due to the anonymity, they can more easily distance themselves from morality, norms and values, as well as their behavior from themselves and the demands on themselves. Because of this, it is easier for them to dehumanize other people, which in turn facilitates their anti-social behavior. We should make it clear to these people that they are wrong.

I am not saying that such behavior should not be punished, but I think it is more important to point out, to condemn and name it.

oh.. i forgot to mention, you can also see all the urbaning survivors :p

That is exactly why I've stopped running it. Makes me angry if I see one person hiding all the time, not doing anything... . It is even worse when everyone dies and that antimate (german term for players that are selfish or even show behavior that is intentionally harmful for the team) gets the hatch from the killer player -.-

Apart from that I think it's a good perk.

It doesn't matter how a person played, even if they griefed there is no excuse to call a person slurs or harass them. I follow the rulebook to the wire and has still gotten harassed. My friend that's new to the game has been the subject of harassment. The team needs to crack down on this bad behavior. If a person's holding the match hostage then provide proof then report them. I always go through the proper protocols nothing in this game makes me mad enough to call someone a transphobic slur for example.

You're just assuming that I think it's okay if someone insults another person. I have not said anything of the kind and you are wrong, that also does not correspond to my opinion. Insults are enshrined in criminal law for good reason. Nevertheless, I am of the opinion that selfish, anti-social and sadistic behavior must be punished equally.

Just played a match where the killer was not hooking survivors when there were available hooks. He would pick up the survivor and take them to a corner of the map (farm) and would have them wiggle out in the corner where there were no pallets, windows, etc., and he would be able to down them within seconds of wiggling out. And he repeated this process probably 20+ between 4 different survivors.

In the post game lobby, I just said "I hope you're proud of yourself" and "now I understand why so many people hate this community". His reasoning for doing it was 2 of us had DS. He proceeded to say how it's sad that we can't win without having to use perks like DS. (Mind you, he was using ruin, undying, thanataphobia, and BBQ - LOL).

Part of my rant is, it really bothers me that people who play like this never get any consequences, but someone will get banned for saying something stupid in post game chat.

You're right. A person can intentionally behave in an absolutely terrible, selfish, provocative, etc. manner, have only bad intentions from the start, and there is no punishment whatsoever.

No one seems to care even though that behaviour is most likely the cause of the majority of angry comments after a match... .

  • I stopped reading the comments at some point therefore I am not sure if this question got asked yet.

Are you aware of what your behavior could trigger in others?

    If your answer is yes:

What raw values/scores do you have in the SDT3 (short dark triad)?

  • If there wasn't a penalty for dcing I'd still dc most of the games if I see a killer tunneling (not only me, anyone), what happens at least 8 out of 10 matches. But what I do now is kill myself on the first hook if the killer tunneles the first unhooked if there aren't 3 gens done b4 the person is dead.

I do try to give my team as much support as possible that is why I wouldn't do that "killing myself on first hook" if I see a chance of moren than 1 getting out. I try to do gens as effectivly as possible, but if I realize it's a killer that only tries to get 1 person out of the game as soon as possible I'll make sure he doesn't get many points and maybe if I can I try to annoy the killer as a punishment to their behaviour. I do care for my team but I care even more for morals, morals are more important than a points or the game. At least to me.

  • First of all there is no official definition of camping or tunnelling yet. Therefore I’d like to start clarifying how I differentiate those terms.

Camping: I define an action as camping if the killer-player would be visible most of the time (assuming the survivor-player would have brought kindred) for at least half the first hook stage.

Proxy Camping: The killer-player stays within the heartbeat range of the hook for at least half the first hook stage.

Face Camping: The killer-player stands right in front of the hooked survivor-player for at least half the first hook stage.

Patrolling: The killer-player is focussed on the hook with no real intention to check on gens or find other survivors. Even if they kick a gen or hit a survivor they immediately return to check if the survivor-player is still on that hook.

Tunneling: Any action that involves following only that certain survivor-player throughout the match until this certain survivor-player is out of the match. The killer-player has no intention to follow another survivor unless their target is sacrificed.

I count different behaviours tunnelling actions:

-Going for the latest unhooked survivor-player as soon as they got saved whilst the saviour is visible.

-Leaving chases for a certain survivor-player, going for a certain survivor-player (more than once in a match) if there is another survivor with that “special one”.

    Hard-core tunnelling:

-Going for the unhooked survivor-player as soon as they got saved even if the saviour takes a hit and tries to take the aggro or is in a weaker spot.

-Following a certain survivor-player every time they are spotted, if another teammate is around and injured.

-Leaving an injured survivor-player in chase to go for this certain healthy survivor-player instead.

Now that I explained what I mean by these terms, I rarely encounter face camping (once a week or less), camping or hard core tunnelling maybe every 3-5 days. Assuming I play 12 matches as survivor a day, I’d estimate that in 9-10 out of those matches someone is getting tunnelled. Tunneling is the most common thing it happens every day in most matches. I am counting every survivor, not only if any of this happens to me. That is at least how I experience it in my matches.

I am playing in red ranks as survivor but solo mostly. I get killers of all ranks and with cross play on.

You're still trying to win, when you can't.

    It's laughable.

It is common for people that lack arguments to try to provoke in order to distract the other person.

If you are unable or unwilling to discuss, what do you do in a discussion forum?

  • First of all I'd like to say that I really like this topic. After reading all the posts and most of them being really heart warming storys I decided to share two as well.

    Playing Killer:

One of the my first games as blight was very frustating. I wasn't even able to hit a single survivor with his power but I was trying to get the archive challenge (hit a survivor after chaning the power 3 times). Three survivors left after tbagging :( . But the Dwight just stood there and waited patiently in the exit gate while I tried to chain my power and hit him. I need four attempts even though he wasn't moving. He was from another platform so I wasn't able to thank him. That was a small gesture but that day I really needed it.

    Playing Survivor:

That was a long time ago. It was a match on springwood and with piggy. When I got chased, gens were pretty slow even though I was proud at that time that I had survived that long in a chase. I was looping in the shack looking behind me wondering if I had to use shack pallete. Suddenly I heard the palette getting dropped, got stopped by it and then downed by piggy. I was confused and piggy seemed to feel the same way. I was about to dc when I saw a survivor on the other side of the palette tbagging and pointing at me. I was left on the ground and piggy ran off to chase that person down. Piggy killed everyone, but I was offered the hatch.

Even though this person did the only right thing to do in a situation like this, I am still very greatful. I've had a few similar situations therefore I know many would reward the sandbagging "Antimate" (that's the german term for players that do not behave like a good teammate should. It can refer to any behavior that runs counter to the team's goal). Therefore big thanks to this person for being like that :D

Again, you're talking about gatekeeping playstyles, and legitimate strategies. There are times where a killer needs to get someone out of the game. Especially if they are expected not to run things like undying/ruin because OMG that's so overpowered. Legitimate (as ion real) tunneling, as in relentlessly targeting someone, IS boring, but it does NOT happen often. Not even close. Going after the injured person who just got unhooked in your face? Not tunneling. That's punishment for farming.

Get over yourself. Gatekeeping playstyles is the first thing that happens to a game right before it dies out.

This is not an argument you have even the slightest chance of winning.

If you had read my post you wouldn't write something like that obviously you are just trolling. I said there are acceptable situations to go for the unhooked survivor and I never mentioned undying.

Putting words in the others mouth just like insinuating their way of thinking isn't an argument.

Btw you didn't say anything to my reply on you assuming the game would die if tunneling would get punished in some way.

I repeat: I am pretty sure that I wouldn't be the only one still playing killer. There is a lot of good killer mains out there that wouldn't be affected by a penalty at all. And a lot of fair, respectful and decent people that play killer reasonably well (like me) that wouldn't be affected by a penalty neighter.

I honestly wouldn't mind if those people that are proxycamping and tunneling no-matter-what in (nearly) every game stopped playing and I highly doubt what you say would come true. On the contrary I guess it would lead to more higher skilled killer players.

You can't start punishing for playstyles. The second you start doing that is the second the side you're punishing no longer plays the game, and without killers, you don't have a game.

  • Lately I've met some killer mains who say that tunneling is the best and most effective way to get to high ranks. If that is really true it needs to change. There should be a penalty in emblems or so, but a ban goes too far. If a certain person is tunneling another certain person each time in different matches ignoring others or if the killer player goes for the same person even if others take hits and let themselves get downed for the tunneled survivor it should be bannable. That kind of hardcore tunneling for no reason (that how I call it if the killer just won't let go of that person no matter what) is not ok.

In my opinion it is not a strategy to proxy camp every hook from the very beginning and then tunnel the survivor and hook them again till they are out of the match. If all or nearly all gens are completed that kind of behavior is acceptable, but not with 0-3 gens done.

I play both sides, but it's easier to have fun as killer unless I face occasionally a swf groups, but I gotta say it's way more stressful and therefore easier to get wrongly upset over normal things like: looping or hiding, getting stunned and blinded.

Games are played for the fun of it. Every individual in the match is able to make it fun for all the others too if they stop being egoistic. Some examples:If I play killer and run into the same person over and over again and they had no chance to do something in the match other then getting chased i leave them or if I need pressure I'll down them and leave, same if I chase another survivor and that one decides to run towards the hooked person or if the other survivors decide to unhook instantly after hooking. If I play survivor I don't bodyblock or prevent in any way a first hook (unless it's for example a bubba and the basement). If I realize (or wrongly asume) that the killer I am facing is a lower rank I tend to throw paletts earlier, use less windows or run simply in a straight line till they catch me. If I feel bad or if I want to show I appreciate their fairplay I give them my Item or a kill at the end of the match. That is at least how I play until they manage to make their game fairer.

  • I feel part of this communities problem is the same as in real world society. People act way too egoistic and competitive most of the time, resulting in them becoming egoists. Only thinking about themselves, their own fun and own goals. Those kinds of people don't care about or lack moral values and norms, integrity, self-reflection, altrustic tendencies, compassion and empathy. Furthermore some aren't that intelligent eighter, they are not able to see the "whole" picture, anticipate others behavior or make the right move at the right time, lack a strategical mindset or plain and simple don't care. Worse some are even proud of their bad and egoistic behavior or it makes them feel better. In addition this game is based on luck a lot. Unfortunately there are some immature adolescents and adults too. I feel that getting frustrated or angry about other peoples behavior is normal and can be helpful. Even if it's not possible to change their behavior it can still be influenced. Not for everyone nor every time, but I think it's worth it if you can make one person self-reflect on their decisions and behavior or make them realize that the way they behave is always their responsibility and has a mayor influence on their character.

  • I have the same issue on ps4. It happens every time when the killer runs noed. If the killer hits a survivor when noed is active, while there is a survivor hooked and in struggel stage they instantly die when noed triggers and the chased one hits the ground. This happened to me and friends and I realized it in a game where two ppl were in struggle and I got downed with noed. Both ppl on the hook instantly got sacrificed.

The argument is that 4 really good survivors all running meta perks will always beat a really good killer if both sides play perfectly.

That isn't true. There are a lot of killers like Tru3talent that show that it is the other way around.

He nearly always gets a 4K or 3K against really good players and swf.

If you completed both Tomes completely (I'm assuming you did both completely or exactly the same) than you should have the same amount of serums for both accounts.

Please contact support about this issue, The Rift must of neglected to give you a few serums... so please do submit a ticket on this.

    Here's the support link: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

Like I said, if you did do both of them the exact same way but got a different amount of serums than submit the ticket... if you did both of them in a completely different way with less or more challenges completed... than don't submit a ticket.

That just means you have less challenges completed on one account.

    Thx I submitted a ticket

  • I haven't said that you kill them on first hook. I said rush the kills. Meaning waiting by the hook injure everyone that dares to be near then dowing the unhooker and without hooking going for the unhooked down that one. Hook the first downed rush to the tunneled hit whoever is trying to pick them up or down him again or if not expecting ds rehooking the unhooked to his 2nd hook and so on.

If the survivor genrush, they usually don't do totems then nor do they get chased or hooked apart from one player that keeps the killer busy.

  • I don't get how so many of "supposedly intelligent humans" aren't able to use their brain at all. Please stop making a fool out of yourselves it is embaressing.

    1. Obviously nobody right in their mind would stick to playing a game where the chances of having fun are low. -> The more they have no fun the faster they will leave the game.
    2. Getting camped and/or tunneled are as boring and unfun as not doing anything but gens. -> The more those games happen the more ppl are getting annoyed and bored and will leave the game.
    3. Non-brain users saying that it's an ok 'strategy' to tunnel and/or camp are ignoring two facts:
    • People that are experiencing tunneling/Camping nearly every game are likely to get bored and leave the game sooner or later. Sure some new players start every now and then but if nothing changes they'll leave as well.
    • Playing Killer is (at least till now) only possible with 4 others human beings. That currently need to be ok with playing that unwinnable game that is boring and a waste of time.

You people playing Killer like that (using tunneling and/or camping regularly and without any reason) need to use ur brain if u want to play this game as killer in the future.

Sure: Everyone can play the way they want but others want to play too so why ruin it for others? If u behave disrespectful and kill the fun of the game you are killing it for others in the future as well.

That is the same as knowing that something is killing our planet but still doing it. Use your brains goddammit... .
