I believe people form a strong addiction to the game, to the point where even when they're burnt out and miserable, every little thing about it bothers them - yet they still have an addiction to feed, so they take it out on others playing.
It doesn't help that the nature of this entire game is random, and a lot of people can't handle losing to things they feel are out of their control lol
-
My friend tested this once lol. If you were to do it in succession:
Two 5 minute penalties
Two 15 minutes
Two 30 minutes
One 1 hour
One 6 hour
One 24 hour
One 48 hour
One 72 hour, and it caps out here
I know nothing about the deterioration rate, because I've never come close to capping it out lol
-
I don't understand why they don't just release them all together since they clearly paid for the work to be done already lol

Not really, if I end the game fast I'm just sitting in a lobby yet again.
Leaving them slugged just wastes their time, I can still chill and play with the other 3.
If I could actually have my choice if just ban the entitled children so they cant play. It's kinda pathetic giving up in games because you got out played once. Only game I can play where I regularly see my team give up instantly because of their own mistakes
You'd ban people who... aren't even breaking ToS and are using functioning game mechanics? So people are no longer allowed to try their luck at escaping hook, or heaven forbid they be bad at skill checks? I guess we could say goodbye to half of the casual noobs that play in your hypothetical world here.
Good thing you don't have any say over how punishment is doled out in this game lol.

How is someone who wants to quit a minute into the match ruining the match? You serious Clark? You're lying to yourself or something if you can't see how someone trying to take themselves out of the game right away isn't ruining the match for the other four players.
If that makes me a "cretin", "egomaniac" and/or a "psychopath" to let them taste a bit of their own medicine, then so be it. They're still absolutely free to DC if they want to.
I agree that it ruins the match, but as said by many time and time again, "why is their fun my responsibility"?
Hook suiciders aren't breaking ToS. Maybe they want to try to escape? Maybe they're bad at skill checks? Who can ever really know without a shred of doubt? You can assume reasons, but you can't know. Thus, firmly treating it as a DC is unacceptable.
Again, just playing devil's advocate here. I don't necessarily have any strong belief one way or the other.

It isn't tho. If they would like to play a dead by daylight match, they have the option to do so. They are in one right now. They can heal up, and do anything that they could do in a different match. Gens, Chases, Totems, Saves etc. And if they dont want to play a dead by daylight match they can dc because the dc penalty wont mean a thing to them since they arent going to be playing a game during it. I am not hindering their ability to play or win a game.
I rarely hook suicide, but humor me for a moment here:
I load into a match. I'm the first one chased. I run the killer for maybe a good minute or two - enough to get at least one gen done. Nobody has DCed which seems to be the only criteria some of the posters in here "allow" as an excuse. I get downed and hooked, and see my teammates are all crouching around doing nothing productive when anywhere from 1 to 3 gens could have been popped.
Based solely on the "your fun isn't my responsibility" philosophy - this match is not fun for me. The killer, and my teammates, are "not responsible for my fun", I am - so I'm going to do what I can to get to a fun match. Not one where I'm carrying 4 people with no chance of progression.
However, the killer doesn't see this the same way as I do in this scenario. The killer doesn't see the teammates memeing around doing nothing. The killer doesn't see that no one is working on a gen nor coming to save me. Thus the killer thinks I'm just ragequitting.
TLDR; fun is subjective, and therefore is not a valid excuse against hook suiciding, just like how many consider it not a valid excuse against certain playstyles. If we all only went off of what was "fun" for us, nobody would play, because losing isn't fun.

But whose fault is that? The killer's, or your teammates'?
Where did they even remotely mention it was the killer’s fault?
And “fault” doesn’t negate the bad and miserable state that solo queue is anyway.
-
I'm in agreement that suiciding on hook is immature and usually ragequit-adjacent - however,
It will never not amuse me that people love to parrot "your fun isn't my responsibility" while in the same breath saying that survivors shouldn't be able to hook suicide because "it ruins others' fun"
We can talk about the topic with facts and statistics, and how to make things better - but "it ruins' others' fun" is either valid across the board, or it isn't. You can't knock it down in one area while holding it up as infallible in another.
-
It's become a staple in my personal meta. I absolutely love Wiretap, it gives a lot of great info - especially in solo queue.

The thing that I don't understand is... When you play killer, you practically only encounters a lot of sweaty player, or big SWF
When you play solo Q, you only find some potatoes survivor, and rarely, good survivor...
How?
Because the truth is, nobody gets only sweaty SWFs or potatoes.
It's an irrational bias a lot of humans have toward remembering their negative experiences more strongly than their positive or neutral ones.

I agree. I play mostly solo q. But there is also chat in lobbies. Maybe make the chat cross platform as well?
True. I'm a PS4 player, I always forget about the chat feature on PC lol.
Maybe voting would have to take place before or after the offering screen? So you can chat all you want about what you'd like to vote for, but it may not be an option when the time comes.
-
@DemonDaddy said:
Voting could be abused by the 4 survivors.
I suggest the game blocks the previous 2 maps each player has been on. This would remove the possibility of repeating the same map multiple times while also giving the full variety.
But how often would this happen? I feel like people think 4 man SWFs are all the game has, when that simply just isn't true.
There are a lot of 2 man SWFs, for example, but an even bigger base of solo q players, who can't communicate what they're voting for.
-
If this were to be implemented, maybe the killer could count for 3 votes, and the survivors could count for 1.5?
That way, 2 survivors tie with a killer, but 3 tips it into majority?
-
Time-limited for original content should NEVER happen. But if it were the only way to get a specific license in, for example, I'd say yes. Because to me, to have it in the game is better than to not.
I hate time-limited as much as the next person, but if you stop and think about it, all licenses are time-limited in that they can be removed at any time (much like Stranger Things was).
-
@Mandy just a tag in case nobody has mentioned this yet!
-
Same issue, I had made it to 70 seconds and now it's stuck and won't update for me - not even 1 or 2 seconds of coop
-
I think this is mostly a good idea, although some things being too readily available (BNPs, Judith's tombstone, etc) would be a bit cracked imo lol

Then blame your team, they obviously fed him alot before he came to get you
I don’t personally mind Tombstone Myers, but this “blame your team” excuse really needs to be retired.
There’s a LOT solo queue can “blame their team” for, that doesn’t mean you don’t make gameplay changes.
-
Nurse needs some work, but hot take: the reason Nurse is so insufferable is BECAUSE survivors DC all the time against her.
Like someone else said, most Nurses aren't even actually good at her. But people see/hear her and immediately DC, thus leading to negative associations with her for other players.
I personally have never had a problem with most Nurses when people actually try to play lol. Most are super easy to mislead when you break LOS.
-
You don't know how badly I've wanted to find something to make solo queue less of a headache.
Thank you for this thread, OP. Trying this build tonight.
-
This is complicated and unnecessary imo.
If a killer wants to camp and tunnel, they will, but the 10 second basekit + increased speed boost has been more than enough to allow the tunneled survivor to get to another tile and loop.
If they can't do that, it's a skill issue on their end.

Sexuality should be left out of video games. Sexual preferences don't/shouldn't affect killing/surviving performance.
Sure - while we’re at it, let’s remove anything that doesn’t “affect performance.” Why have any extra cosmetics, for example? The base outfit for everyone is just fine.
It’s always hilarious to me that this disingenuous “sexuality should be left out of games” argument only ever rears its ugly head when conversations about the LGBTQ community being included come up, but never about heterosexuality being defaulted into everything. Where was this faux concern when Felix’s lore mentioned he had a girlfriend and child?
-
Some killers are good on maps, others aren't.
Some perks counter your opponent's play, others don't.
Some things favor one side, some things favor the other.
All this to say, the entirety of this game is basically random - and that's exactly why it shouldn't be viewed as competitively as it is.
-
I'm fine with any license for cosmetics, honestly.
If they were to ever do a chapter for something like For Honor, Fortnite, etc. though, it'd be the first chapter I didn't purchase.
-
OTR was really only meta when basekit BT was only 5 seconds. Hopefully they take another look at it because they could do much more with it now.
DS was a mindless nerf after it had long been in a good spot finally, so they definitely need to revert to 5 seconds.

"Some."
There will always be people who complain about things that provide their opponent any form of advantage.
Literally exactly why I said some in my post, but thank you for explaining.
-
Some killers: "DH crutch. Just adapt. Give survivors less second chances and more info perks."
Also some killers: "WoO is used too often now OP plz nerf"
-
Maybe it's just me, but out of all the things I think need to be addressed in solo queue, Nurse is very low on my list (actually, she was never on it to begin with lol)
I've just never found her that hard to play against?
-
You have to remember that each license holder also dictates how their license will be used when being designed for the game.
Some are very hands on and open-minded about the devs ideas, some are probably control freaks about them and will only allow the smallest amount of room for creativity or deviation, and some probably just greenlight it and pay no attention from there.
It's all circumstantial.
-
I will never advocate for DCing minus a cheater or hacker, but I'll just say this:
"You're ruining the fun for others" is never going to be a valid excuse. There are plenty of acceptable playstyles that ruin fun for others. No, I'm not saying DCing is a playstyle, but my point is there are plenty of unfun things in this game, both valid or not.
Talk about how it's against the rules, talk about how it speaks to the immaturity of the player - but don't pretend you care about the fun of others.

Imagine though, if Blast mine was 33% instead. The amount of... nobodies that would bring it.
Literally nobody would still make it part of their build.
Exactly, so who does it harm then? Cmon Behaviour lol
-
What I don't understand is why they didn't just bring it more in line with Wiretap?
Like just make it 33% gen progress instead, it's not like Blast Mine is some OP perk able to be wildly abused.
-
The standards for increasing your mmr are arbitrary at best. This is exactly why the people who negate any thread with "skill issue/you must be low mmr" have no intelligent argument to stand on.
If you run the killer for 5 gens and your teammates make no effort to save you, dying at the hands of your teammates does not suddenly evaporate any of your skill, just as standing in a corner all match doing nothing and walking through the exit gates does not give you skill.
-
I once had to ride out an hour+ because of a hacker playing Trapper.
His hacks involved auto-trapping all of the survivors no matter what we did, and when we tried to free ourselves, the process was slowed down tremendously, only for him to auto-trap us as soon as we broke out again.
Me, being the stubborn person that I am, could have DCed along with the other 3 survivors and taken the 5 minute penalty - but I knew that's what he wanted, so I waited him out. Partially out of stubbornness, but partially to keep him busy and away from other players as well.
After a little over an hour, he eventually DCed lol.
-
So you're complaining that people now use DH with nuance and skill, which is what everyone asked for? Sounds like a you problem tbh.
-
I'm sorry to break it to you friend, but...
git gud

Actually no... if you are skilled enough, there's always hatch for you. No matter if you are encounter low-tier killers, that will a free win.
1) hatch requires no skill
2) hatch does not boost mmr, so if your personal mmr has tanked from bad solo teammates who give up, can't run the killer for more than 3 seconds, etc, you're still stuck there - even if you yourself are skilled
-
I find it funny that they "need to look at why" tunneling and camping happen instead of working on measures against them, but when second chance perks were the topic of discussion and survivors said "they should look at why we feel the need to use four second chance perks", that argument was never valid.
Either they address reasons why, or they just nerf things. And a lot of players on both sides of this community have shown them that nerfing is their preferable option. You don't get to say "well, actually..." when it affects you, while calling for nerfs for others.

Agreed! So much this!
I think the win conditions for survivor and killer should be tweaked. If anyone walks out the exit door its a survivor win. Half of everyone's points should be based on the team's result. Slight survivor win of one escape, 2k bloodpoints for everyone. Major victory for survivors with 4 escape, 16k bloodpoints. No escapes out the door, 0 bloodpoints for killer and survivor for the team portion. All the rest of the blood points should max at 16k for solo contributions.
I would rather face 500 God-Nurses in a row than have my points depend on the teammates I get on the regular

Gamers having preferences, what a shocking concept!
-
I used to HATE the swamp, but one day something about it just clicked, and while it's not one of my top choices, it's a fine map for me.
It could definitely use a rework overall though, esp graphically
-
It's literally only going to be there until the next chapter in a few months, you'll survive.
-
Man, some people really can’t handle any change in life, huh?
-
I truly think you'll be ok without this limitation on survivors.
-
If you want 100% authenticity with absolutely no changes, then idk... go play the RE games?
The skins all look fine. Feng and Felix are a goofy little idea to bring DBD a little more into the RE universe. Don't buy them if they offend your sensibilities so deeply.
Hunk is neither good nor evil, so your point there is moot.
Not all killers have to be Nurse/Blight level. Plenty of people seem to be finding Wesker fun to play which, gasp!, is very important in a video game.
-
@Gamall said:
Why every DLC (game included) is discounted except for sadako's, dredge's and wesker's?
Those three were all released this year.

@Mandy said:
Wiretap and Open Handed are not meant to work together.
Can I ask why? I understand it could be a complicated combination, but the devs are typically interested in consistency across the board for perks, and this is inconsistent, as it is an aura reading perk like all the others.

@OjomoTheWraith said:

it actually does negate your point. Because indirect cuts will make the interest of the licence holder to shift to as much sales as possible while a direct pay for the licence the licence holder couldnt give a single dime about the amount of sales made.
But what does any of that have to do with the way Behaviour themselves price their chapters? Nobody was talking about the interests of Capcom.
Behaviour charges $12 for a chapter with 3 characters, and presently, those have only been licensed chapters. Whether they pay up front or not, Behaviour is still effectively paying for the right to use these characters. If it were an original chapter with 3 characters, Behaviour would make all $12 of that as profit, vs. giving that money to Capcom/Netflix/etc.
You can argue semantics about paying upfront vs. just losing money in the long run, but my point was they pay for it, one way or another.
-
@OjomoTheWraith said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3158919#Comment_3158919
they dont pay for licence directly but indirectly by giving them a cut from the sales they make
That doesn't negate my point that the price is reasonable and that they pay for it in some form to get it.
