Around 9$? That would make far more sense. The added cost is for an extra survivor, not killer.

Why would you pay less per character in this than a standard chapter? It's licensed, with 9 perks, and a new killer power mechanic.

And frankly, if $12 is too much for someone (and I'm not judging, there's no shame in that), how is it smart to spend $9 on a video game DLC either?

  • I can definitely empathize with not having the money to spend, but my question is - what would you expect it be?

They have to pay for the licensing, so $12 for 3 characters from a big franchise is not unreasonable at all.

If I've learned anything, it's to never take what BVHR says at face value. I wish I could find it but on Reddit about 3 or 4 years back, there was a dev stream where they couldn't even down one survivor on an SWF team. I haven't seen a stream in a while but I was shocked by how bad some of them are at the game. If anyone doesn't know how to properly play, it's them.

That's true enough. On the other end of the spectrum, I've been making rift challenges my main source of fun solely BECAUSE I've been stuck with teammates who don't play well. The alternative is massive frustration lol.

  • @SgtMittens said:

Rift challenges are one of the worst inclusions in the game. Sure, it's nice to earn bonus points, but it causes people to play in a way they normally wouldn't to fulfill some stupid and arbitrary task. The worst case is they outright tank the game. Dailies at least require an aspect of normal game functions.

I get where you're coming from, but there's no one right way to play the game to begin with. The devs have stated as much by saying DBD is more akin to a party game than a competitive e-sport.

To some, rift challenges are more fun than "playing the game."

  • I wouldn't be against it being attached to another perk somewhere. Weird take here, but Q&Q has become a part of my personal meta since patch 6.1.0

The amount of killers I've lost in a chase because they never expect anyone to have it is outstanding lol

  • Along with Spirit and Trickster, I would also totally be here for Artist as a survivor, or possibly even Blight.

As for survivor -> killer, Meg already has a lot of experience killing survivors anyway so she's my top pick.

  • By the logic from the last patch, you're right! Any perk that is used a lot should be nerfed accordingly.

(Before people come for me - yes I agree DH really needed nerfing last patch, but some of the perks they touched on both sides didn't)

That's not the definition of gen rushing, and only actual trash killers think that.

Gen rushing is when you bring a bunch of sick toolboxes, BNP, prove thyself, and forgoe anything and everything, healing, even saving teammates on hook, to slam gens as fast as possible.

It's also extremely boring for both sides. I'm not really sure why survivors want to hold m1 on a gen constantly but to each their own i guess.

But please, stop with your whataboutism. This thread is mainly just pointing out a funny interaction i had.

If you don’t want whataboutism, don’t generalize to begin with.

The entire point of my reply WAS the irrational takes people have on a daily basis on BOTH sides. I don’t think genrushing even exists.

  • Breaking news from killer mains, if you "genrush" you're "toxic" - even if the killer is camping and tunneling, to which genrushing is the only solution.

Both sides have people with irrational takes so I'm unsure what the point of your thread is.

That must be why every SWF I play against brings Shadowstep and CoH boons.

Sure, so your once in a while SWF match being difficult is definitely worth obliterating boons for the casual majority in solo queue.

  • The ability to permanently snuff boons as basekit would make them absolutely useless, which they already borderline are as a whole minus CoH.

Many perks are meant to counter each other/playstyles/etc, Shattered Hope is acceptable as is.

  • @Espshiva said:

I have been playing for a while and I know how to handle my killer main. I'm good at predicting survivor movements it is not a skill issue.

There's no need to get defensive. It's ok to admit you have a lot of room to improve in one area, i.e. tracking. It doesn't take most people 2 minutes to find at least one survivor.

Like I said, Lethal Pursuer is there if you're really struggling. But your struggle doesn't mean entire systems have to be nerfed.

  • I'm not saying this in a mean or critical way, but you sound like you are either new or not very good at killer.

1). Gen speeds definitely do not need to be nerfed again. If you can't find anyone after 2 minutes, start bringing some sort of tracking perks, particularly Lethal Pursuer. A wide variety of slowdown perks also exist, take your pick.

2). Body blocking the hook is not reportable, it is a strategy much like everything else people find frustrating in this game.

3). Dead Hard's new form is just fine, and in fact requires actual skill finally. BT's entire point is to "stack" with the current basekit endurance, and it doesn't stack multiple endurances, it just adds to the time it lasts. That's the whole function of the perk now. There's nothing wrong with it, either. Endurance is a direct result of the tunneling meta. It's unfortunately absolutely necessary to have endurance function the way it does currently.

  • Yes. While it was random and unreliable, everybody at least knew it was.

SBMM pretends to take skill into account even though the requirements to raise your mmr are rudimentary at best.

  • Give me a break. If you can’t destroy survivors after this patch, maybe you just aren’t a good killer.

  • Killer mains: "no more DH! no more crutch perks! get good!"

Survivors: *adapt and start playing more stealthy*

    Killer mains: >:((((((

It's funny that you claim stealth is "playing wrong" yet you tunnel, which others would also say is wrong. Almost like we all have a different idea of how to play!

    Get over it dude.

  • Maybe when solo queue isn’t absolutely abysmal. A lot of us aren’t playing these miserable matches currently.

I swear to God, I agree, SoloQ is a bit weak, but this "But SoloQ!!1!!" has to stop. Everything revolves around SoloQ, and most of the time it's because of the players.

SBMM is fine, it just needs to count the team as a whole, not the individual Survivors.

A majority of the game doesn't indicate skill, doing either of the main objectives, whether it be Killer or Survivor, doesn't require skill

It does not need to stop. SBMM is exactly why solo queue is abysmal, and one of the main reasons why this patch is a hot topic.

People throwing a game and getting me killed should not affect my skill rank. Being tunneled out, even if I keep a chase going for a long time, does not indicate I lack skill when I inevitably die. I can do everything I'm supposed to and still be paired with baby survivors because I didn't escape.

Your argument was "SBMM is better" (with SBMM standing for skill-based matchmaking), then you proceed to say a majority of the game doesn't indicate skill. So which is it then?

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

I still don't know why people continue to praise the old ranking system as if it was better than the current SBMM.

    It wasn't, SBMM is better

For who? Definitely not for solo survivors. Hence the problem solo has been having for a while now.

An escape does not indicate skill, and a death does not indicate a lack of skill.

Ask yourself why did they make changes after 6 years to make the game better for killer?

Ask yourself why were survivor queue times creeping up on 10 minutes?

The answer is because almost no one wanted to play killer. They had given survivor so many buffs over the years that it was a complete joke to win as survivor.

Current complaints are almost exclusively from solo queue, which has NEVER been "a complete joke to win", and only someone who has never played solo queue in any meaningful capacity would think it was

And killers being neglected for years doesn't invalidate the current complaints from solo queue (which, by the way, has also been neglected for just as long)

  • @TotemSeeker91 said:

So it's ok that killers "weren't happy" for 5+ years, but as soon as it changes to hurt survivors, we don't get even a month in before screaming?

All I hear in this post is self-victimizing. This game isn't based on pettiness or revenge. Balance isn't based on "gotcha! how's it feel now?"

It should be better for everyone, not swinging wildly from one side to the other.

  • @Jinxed said:

When people are disconnecting because they don't want to play your game anymore it is a problem.

People can say it's scummy to disconnect and it is, you're ruining the game for your team, but if people are throwing games en masse it means something is wrong and the game isn't fun.

Increasing the penalty won't do anything but encourage people to pick up another game in the meantime and forget about dbd. Why wait ten minutes to play a game where you're just going to get crapped on?

This is one of the only rational responses in this entire thread.

People can do their moral grandstanding about DCs being an unforgivable sin all they want, but it does nothing to look at and try to resolve the actual issue at hand. Instead of vilifying, the question needs to be “why?”, and the answer has to be tangible and practical.

There will always be people who do these things. But whether you agree with it or not, more people doing it a game issue, not just an individual issue.

  • "Don't be fooled" - by what, exactly? Sure, I agree they're acting very immaturely, but the fact remains that it's happening because a lot of players are unhappy.

And you can believe that it's unfair/immature/a refusal to adapt, and you might even be right on some counts, but it's still the truth, and player happiness across the board is something devs have to consider with their own game.

  • We don't need them to experiment with DS anymore.

It was fine as it was for both sides before they butchered it with this patch, that's all it needs to go back to.

  • @TatsuiChiyo said:

Okay. Practically people need to stop being immature babies and play the game. Patch hasn't even been out a week and a vast majority of Survivors keep doing this, which than ruins the games for others. It's not a superiority issue, at least not on Killers side. This is Survivors whining and crying because things don't go their way and they want everyone else punished because of it.

Love this flawed line of thinking that only ever applies to solo survivors, and not killers who were “whining and crying” because they couldn’t get 4ks nonstop.

    Try again.

  • You feel better getting that out? Good. Now let’s try to think practically about what the game needs instead of throwing around unhelpful superiority nonsense.

EDIT: this post was a quote to the first commenter, not the original poster

You think I care about an extra 10 percent speed after a swing? Or 10s when everyone runs prove thyself now?

Better yet don't please don't nerf my Thana from 22 to 20 again! Nooooo

One thing's for sure. I couldn't give a heyho what you revert baby survivors tantruming. The fact dead hard is gone and buried is all killers wanted. It shows how bad you all relied on it and have no idea what to do now other than revolt over 10 percent buffs of 0.1 second.

However if you revert any changes, make sure and revert all the killers gen slowdown nerfs. That 10s was soooo important!!! Lmao

So what about 10% slower gens and a lack of being able to artificially extend chases is so different that it's made the game "not fun"?

The slightest inconvenience and the game is no longer worth playing?

That isn’t the full picture. On paper, sure, those are slight inconveniences. But solo queue deals with the double edged sword of “do I bring perks that will help me counter the killer? Or do I bring perks that offset terrible teammates?” Hence why solo queue did have “crutch perks”

The result is a lot of people feeling the cards are immeasurably stacked against them. And who wants to play a game like that in their free time? Most of us aren’t entitled, boosted bullies. Most of us just want to feel we have a chance to play the game, and that’s simply not the case for most (not all) right now.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3082030#Comment_3082030

    What are the complaints then?

    1. nerfing DS and DH
    2. Gen speeds
    3. Killer speeds

    Anything else?

These things are not game breaking. But survivors refusing to play the damn game and sabotaging everything IS.

Nobody said they’re game breaking. People are not having fun, simple as that.

”But killers haven’t had fun for a while!” And that’s valid. But we don’t need to drastically swing the pendulum.

Solo queue is notoriously bad as is, and it’s just gotten worse. That doesn’t make every complaint a boosted survivor throwing a tantrum.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3082008#Comment_3082008

    My experience is not nonsense.

Gens are 10% slower. Ten measly percent, and yet you're all refusing to repair them and screwing over the rest of the team, or evidently just refusing to play the game at all. It's petty, entitled and childish.

"B-b-b-but Thanataphobia!" was buffed by TWO PERCENT.

"Killers using slowdown!" All of which besides Thana and Overcharge were nerfed.

Your experience is not nonsense, but you completely invalidating everyone who’s experience isn’t yours down to “DH DS tantrums!!” IS nonsense

  • @Seraphor said:

Survivors having a tantrum over losing DS and DH.

As someone who never used those perks anyway, my experience has barely changed, and at least the survivor queues are decent. Working my way through the survivor tome challenges now and it's no different from before besides slightly slower gens, which is mostly due to survivors refusing to actually do them!

I've encountered no campers, maybe the odd tunnel (on Spirit tried to tunnel me but failed), a few Thana's but no Legion or Plague yet. The patch has no drastically altered the game, it's still 99% the same as it was before, except now you can't artificially extend chases with DH for distance. Boo hoo.

Just adjust and adapt, go back to playing normally. Fed up of other survivors ruining the game for the rest of the team, and now it's grown to a scale that it's screwing with queues and matchmaking too. Get over yourselves.

For the 5000th time, most people aren’t even complaining about “DS and DH!!!” Your experience is not the be all end all, try actually reading peoples’ inputs before spouting off nonsense.

  • You lost me at “focus on having fun” because there’s been no fun to be had for a lot of us.

  • Who could have ever seen this coming!?

  • Yeah, I’ve tried for 3 days now and I’ve given up. Games are miserable. This’ll also be the first tome I won’t get done because I just can’t be bothered to hate myself that much lol.

I love this game but I’m done until solo queue gets a total revamp.

it's not a "great step for them" I can't even play killer right now queues are endless, previous patch was better in every way except dead hard

I'm not sure what your point is. That's a direct result of Behaviour never giving a ######### about solo queue and solos leaving as a result of a patch that has buffed killer games across the board.

Turns out, solo is a bigger chunk of the base than these big bad SWF god squads. Who could have guessed?

"They spent alot of time experiencing these same problems" is my exact point. If its bad and unskilled for survivors to have second chance perks, then why is it only okay for killers to have strong second chance perks? Its hypocrisy.

Ok, so you've pointed out hypocrisy. Both sides have their share of hypocrites all the time.

So what's accomplished now? Solo queue is still a mess. So use that energy towards Behaviour.

  • There's no need to villianize killers, they've spent plenty of time experiencing these same problems. This patch was a great step for them.

We need to be holding Behaviour accountable for finally giving solo queue some needed treatment now that there's a shining spotlight on how bad it is.

  • @Vetrathene said:

I agree Solo Q needs something, I've been saying add voice chat to the game for ages, or at least a ping system. And if that was added, balance could start to be applied in more even way across the board.

Agreed. I wish this had all been factored in with solo queue improvements together as one update, because it would definitely be the most balanced this game has been in ages, if not ever.

But until that day, solo queue is overall abysmal at the moment. Sure, some people are doing good, or staying the same, and some are complaining because they were boosted. But I'd wager to say a bigger amount of survivors have complaints for valid reasons.

  • Again, for the 100th time, this has nothing to do with "getting good", "learning to loop" etc etc etc. Obviously some people are crying because they can't bully killers, but that isn't the actual issue here.

"Think like a killer has had to for years", except Killer's matches are affected by their own skills, and the mistakes of survivors. Solo survivors have to rely on their own skills, the mistakes of killers, AND their teammates not making mistakes. Killer skill plays a bigger role in a killer game than a solo survivor's individual skill does in a survivor game. No amount of my personal skill is going to get me an escape and raise my MMR if my teammates are going down in 20 seconds.

The result isn't "gg ez survivors don't have their precious crutches" - rather it highlights the glaringly huge flaws of an MMR system that prioritizes escape (through the gates, mind you - not hatch) as a measure of skill. It also highlights the drastic difference between solo and SWF even more than we already all knew.

DH needed it's nerf, this isn't debatable. And killer needed TLC. But there's also something to be said for the fact that good solo survivors need strong perks just to counteract the immense unreliability of their teammates, let alone to counter anything the killer does.

None of this is the killer's FAULT, of course - it's Behaviour's for not ever addressing solo queue. But that doesn't invalidate the complaints solo survivors are bringing up now.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3075762#Comment_3075762

I understand that, thus why I said "mostly". It's clearly an imperfect system.

I play a ton of solo queue, and most of the time, most of my teammates are good. Occasionally, most of my team are bad, and occasionally most of my team are way better than I am.

But if a player is always paired with bad players, that's probably because they are just as bad.

But the basis for MMR currently is "escape = increase, die = decrease", and the nature of the game is such that your team can get you killed regardless of your personal skill. MMR's standards for judging skill are already flawed because of this.

Thus, it's laughably easy to get stuck in "low MMR hell", as I've seen people call it.

(Not to mention people who "play bad" intentionally due to meme-ing, or just being casual, "drunk by daylight" players, etc lol)

One thing I'll never understand is rage quitting a game or uninstalling it not even 24 hours after an update. I can understand taking a break, being mad, ect. And that goes for both sides. I play both survivor and killer, and I've seen plenty of times where survivors say the exact same thing after a match.

I said nothing in my post about any of this, so find someone else to quote and yell into the void at.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3075659#Comment_3075659

I think that most (clearly not all) of the skill gap between solo teammates has been mitigated by MMR.

Part of the problem for some people (not pointing the finger at anyone in particular) is that they aren't great assessors of their own skill level. None of us are, but some are worse than others, and we have all been guilty of this at some point.

When I hear people lament and ask why they are always teamed up with terrible players, I feel like there are two likely answers:

    1. They are exaggerating how often this happens
    2. The are just as bad as their teammates and don't or can't recognize it

If someone truly always finds themselves in a bag of potatoes, they are almost certainly also a potato.

This is just fundamentally not true, not least because MMR isn't some infallible machine that runs smoothly at all times. Let me propose a hypothetical that is all too common.

I, a good solo survivor, am working on my first gen. Teammate #1 goes down in about 20 seconds. Teammate #2, doing god knows what, goes down shortly after because the killer went after them next. I now have two slugs, with not even a gen done. 1 is hooked. Teammate #3 goes down while trying to pick up 2. I go to save 1, 2 gets hooked, 3 is still down. 5 gens are still left. I'm caught in a loop of trying to save everyone while no gens are getting done. There's almost no way I, INDIVIDUALLY, am escaping this in a way that will increase my MMR.

Even if you escape all the time and have high MMR, it doesn't take many of these scenarios for your MMR to tank and you notice a difference. You can argue "it isn't the killer's fault, it's your team's", but this is exactly my point. I'm at the mercy of my team at all times.

Solo queue isn't 4v1 with 1 killer against 4 survivors. Solo queue is 4v1 where one survivor is against one killer and three teammates.

  • One thing I'll never understand: why, when killers complained, was "get good" "learn to play without crutch perks", "training wheels" etc. not valid then, but it is now that solo survivors are complaining?

The truth is, there are plenty of bad solo survivors. But there are also plenty of good solo survivors who are at the mercy of the bad ones. It isn't an issue of "lol your crutch is gone, get good" - some perks absolutely WERE necessary for GOOD solo survivors to offset the downside of terrible teammates.

RNG is such that it doesn't matter how good you are, and "get good" is a disingenuous, borderline condescending retort with absolutely no nuance or thought behind it other than pettiness for the (very real) issues killers previously had to deal with.

  • DS is a clear example that this "meta shakeup" wasn't actually analyzed with nuance, but moreso through the lens of "all these perks are used all the time, let's just change them to change them!"

Instead of looking at WHY perks were used all the time, they took it at face value and nerfed for the sake of it. Sure, some of them truly needed it, but a lot didn't need the changes that came to them.

  • I’m the opposite, I’m a solo q survivor almost exclusively and I won’t really be playing much at all after this update until solos get some love.

  • With the state of solo q currently, I can't blame any survivor for giving up on first hook.

Not to be disrespectful, but your comment just tells me that you didn't read any of my earlier comments. I'm not replying to any further comments under this thread because I truly don't think that most of you took the time to read why I DCed. Some people seem to get it and I'm not a fan of matches where someone DC's but context does matter.

I just finished a match where Pig couldn't hook me because of my build. So he stood over me while my boon was active and repeatedly hit me. I ended up not escaping because by the time I got away, the helmet activated and I couldn't get it off. Now, I could have DCed because two of the three Survivors decided to just leave. The other one died trying to help me. It was end-game and as annoyed as I was, this situation didn't warrant a DC.

A lot of us understand your train of thought, we're just trying to convince you that DCing will never be beneficial to you over just dying and getting it over with. Nothing warrants a DC (besides hackers/cheaters, but most of us are willing to take a 5 minute penalty to get out of that).

If you feel a killer doesn't "deserve" a kill, then you're free to feel that way, but that doesn't negate the fact that the game doesn't work based on what we "deserve." You're playing with other humans, not AI. You can never with 100% consistency get what you "deserve." Plus, everyone's idea of what they deserve/what others deserve is drastically different anyway.

Thus, the consequences of a DC are still necessary.

You and I are going to agree to disagree at this point. Context matters. Some matches just suck from the get-go. DCing mid-match is one thing. DCing because the match has barely gone on for two minutes and you somehow had the luck to be in situations like this are entirely different.

Again, bad matches will happen. If you're going to die early, then just do it. There's no benefit to DCing compared to dying early.

This entire thread exists solely to yell out "I'm angry and petty and want no consequences for it"

  • There's no reason to DC if you're first - you can just die, lose your items anyway, and gain a bit of bloodpoints.

People only DC out of spite.

1 2 3 4 5 … 16
