I'd say balancing the maps would solve the offering problem, but thats an iffy topic. Devs cant seem to get it right and keep releasing maps swinging too far into the extremes.
As for items? Ooh boy thats a door you'd think you didnt wanna open. Opinions are gonna be split. Even on the "survivor weak, all killer op" crowd.
Personally.... I think survivors shouldnt be able to not bring an item. Its the same as with the comms problem, cant balance survivors between having it or not. Remove all rarity items, put lost power into nasekit izem and addons.
Okay, I can't see my comment so I'm not sure if I actually posted it or not (so sorry if I am just repeating it now), but there is just a lot of balancing the devs need to do; definitely maps. And yeah, there are too many tryhards on both sides, and they'd definitely disagree with me to actually balance their extremely strong items or add-ons, like Brand New Parts, Syringes, the Alchemist Ring, and the Tombstone Piece.
I just hope that people learn to play for fun rather than just to win; it is not healthy for people to play games to just competetively win, as it makes them angry when losing, and that only hurts them mentally as well as ruins the game for those they face.

They should be aloud to bring items, but the items should just not affect the game as much as it does. And yeah, there are too many tryhards on both sides that wouldn't want to actually balance their OP things they're using, going from survivor items to killer add-ons.
All I want is for people to learn to play the game for fun, not to just win. Many think they like trying hard to win, but truly, this is mentally unhealthy as it makes them extremely angry when losing.

Yes, I've played a lot of both survivor and killer rounds lately, and, though killers have sometimes brought map offerings, survivors bring maps way more often. And yes, they should nerf all the OP killer stuff too, like Alchemist Ring.
I feel like the actual chase and gen repairing right now is at a balanced spot, just the side things they are allowed to do, like killers tunneling or survivors bringing a bunch of strong toolboxes, are what is making the game seem way worse than it is.
The Devs practically need to not let people stretch that far from the base game with offerings, add-ons, perks, items, or strategies. A lot to do, but if they focus specifically on that, it can go a lot quicker.

Okay, is it just me, or can you not delete comments, even your own?

This is the best post I've seen on these forums in quite a while.
This is one of the biggest issues in the game and it isn't talked about as much as it should be. Instead, half this forum is posters who never play the other side crying because they have been conditioned to think they should win every game (while always bringing the best (OP)) stuff in the game. Whether it is all the killer users who have been HARD carried by Eruption lately, or 4-man SWF's bringing 4 good medkits or toolboxes, the potential for one side to bring absolutely overwhelming items/addons and be at a huge advantage because of that is a big issue.
One idea I have is for only one item to be allowed in a lobby. If someone has a medkit, sorry - pick another item. 4 medkits at the start of the game makes it way too advantageous. Or 4 toolboxes. Or a Blight bringing his best addons/a stealth killer bringing an indoor map and Eruption/COB.
Thanks for the indirect complement and I entirely agree. I didn't mention it, but perks too. Multiple times killers literally won against me specifically because of perks like Eruption. I think Prove Thyself gives a stronger buff to survivors than they realize, too.
And nice idea! That'd make it much more fair. That is, after they get rid of add-ons like the Syringe, Brand New Part, Tombstone Piece, and Alchemist's Ring. And I can't wait for perks like Eruption to be nerfed; I hope the next meta shake-up also includes Prove Thyself.

I think items should be free but only have 1 version of them, the weakest one. So the furthest gap would be a Brown medkit and a Brown medkit with 16 charge + Styptic.
Currently you cant balance the game between a survivor has no item and the other has a Ranger, 16 charge + styptic
Honestly, I'm not much for the Styptic either. At least the Syringe and BNP need to be balanced/removed, though, IMO.

Honestly, Sadako deserves respect. Though I haven't heard about a few of those powers, I have watched a lot of her movies and it really makes you respect her. Her music in DbD is intense as well! I really hope they do buff her.
It'd be so cool if they some changed/added Nensha to her power. This sounds a bit strong but imagine if they allowed her to choose a gen in intervals that she'd burn something onto that would give a debuff to/hurt anyone that goes there.

I just dc on like 4 maps depending on the killer, if I'm playing blight you best believe i ain't playing Hawkins, lerys, rpd or haddonfield.
I know the pain there. The entire point of why I started this discussion in the first place, LOL. I never DC though, rather the suffer through the pain extremely painfully. I actually told myself a few days back that if I got one more Springfield map that day, I would DC. I was too frustrated from getting that map so much as killer.

@calem said:
I play both sides very evenly. So I'm hoping my opinions are as unbiased as possible.
When I play killer, the ONLY maps I don't groan about getting are:
- Dead Dawg Saloon
- Shelter Woods
- Hawkin's (though this is dependent on what killer I am playing, most of the roster is fine with it)
The Game is arguable and could go either way, it really depends what killer you are as well. But for the most part, M1 killers will struggle because there are a ridiculous amount of safe loops on this map after the rework. Provided the survivors aren't scared of being in a terror radius for 80+% of the match, it's hard to do well as killer.
Every other map I feel can be easily won by survivors. There are more than enough resources on the "3 gen maps" (Azarov's and Suffocation Pit) to get by. If the killer leaves a good 3 gen spot, then you can pump out that gen and not let them have it. If they spend the entire match guarding the same 3 gens and not chasing, do every other gen and then you literally have all the hook states in the game to do 1 last gen. I usually win on Azarov's and Suffocation Pit as killer by banking on the survivors being overly altruistic instead focusing on gens.
Pretty much every other map is survivor sided for the average killer. The sheer amount of great maps for survivors is also one of the reasons I picked up and learnt to play Nurse.
Thank you! So many survivor mains are probably the ones the get new killers always weakened or say some killers are just too strong at some maps. Survivor mains really don't play enough killer to understand the pain here.

Yup.
Saloon - a small map with two thirds of the area being one continuous dead zone and with one easily seen lane in the middle, where all the gens can be patrolled with no effort. The most killer sided map in the game so far.
Hawkins - indoors map where you can waste a lot of time before finding a gen. Killer-sided unless the killer is a nurse/billy/huntress. All pallets save for a couple are jokes.
School - straight hallways with nowhere to run or to hide, you have to jump into classrooms hoping there is a pallet there. Finding a gen takes longer than mastering Nurse.
Swamp - Deadzone: The Map.
The game: easy to get lost, takes forever to find a gen, never can tell whether the killer is on your floor or on the other one, since the heartbeat doesn't distinguish the Z axis.
Azarov - 3-gen: The Map.
Ormond - small, the pallets are jokes, half of the tiles are deadzone.
I missed some maps from the old rotations, which have a lot of forest tiles in it (ie dead zones), don't remember the names. Those are not pleasant for survivors either.
You REALLY got a few things wrong there. Azarov's sucks for killer and you say it's killer sided because you can 3-gen it? That's the only good thing for killer! Ormond actually still is powerful for survivors for all of the jungle gyms it still has, along with the godpallet in the resort itself. And with school, people can loop the entire building which SUCKS for killers, especially slower killers. Don't think what's bad for survivors in those maps and actually play killers at all of those places to really see their pain. Being in the red ranks too only makes it harder.

Can't tell if you are serious or just being sarcastic, but here it is:
- Dead Dawg Saloon
- Hawkins National Laboratory
- Midwich Elementary School
- Backwater Swamp
- The Game
- Azarov's Resting Place
- Ormond (after the rework)
Backwater Swamp and Azarov's Resting Place are not killer maps. Azarov's is super long, making the map almost impossible for slow killers unless they do a 3-gen. Backwater is giant also, giving survivors a buff there too. The Game depends, as some are good some are bad there. And Ormond, still not really killer sided. Dead Dawg actually has the giant loop around its entire building, so slower killers are also pained there. Midwich and Hawkins are the decent ones though. You actually forgot Shelter Woods, which is one of the better maps for us killers.

The maps people say "suck for killer" are usually just normal maps that they're framing as an impossibility
I love playing Badham as killer, but any other killer main would tell you it's hell on earth and that the garage loop is supposedly an "infinite" (lol)
There's only one survivor-sided coldwind map, the rest have been pruned hard. They're only difficult for ranged killers.
The loops in some of them just suck for the killers. If you say only ONE Coldwind map is survivor sided, not sure you play killer much at all. Some Coldwind maps have literally been made WORSE to the killers.
-
@Snowbawlzzz said:
Since The Realm Beyond, I wouldn't even say most maps lean one way or another. There are obvious outliers, such as Dead Dawg being a hallway of death, and Ormond being SafetyTown™ for survivors, but pallets have been pruned, maps have been shrunk, and there are many more gens stuck in dead zones that the survivors are forced to do if they wanna win.
The clock is set against the killer, but I wouldn't say the maps are.
Currently many maps do suck for killer. Tons of Coldwind maps and there are few, if any, killers that thrive in Coldwind.

I think giving the devs three months to fix all of the problems people have with the game isn't as simple as that though. They can't just suddenly come up with ideas that make every killer balanced or suddenly figure out why certain things are broken.
And it is a risk too. Doing that could possibly break many things out of attempts of trying to fix other things. And to be fair to the devs they are completely right in saying the playerbase is a much much larger testing environment than the testing crew they have who test on the same standard hardware. Also 6 months with no content suddenly could be bad for the game. Some people could get bored and never come back, especially if the "health patch" has no perceived effect on them. Like for me for example, i haven't had any performance issues (consistent 60fps high/ultra) on what steam statistics considers to be a slightly below average PC.
Not saying it's not a good idea but i think it's a choice that needs a lot of consideration
The only thing I'm worried about is that people would get bored. However, giving them 3 months would still let them change a lot (and let them think of ideas they can do during the mid-chapter patches) so they could do multiple short PTB's. For instance, they could fix keys and do reworks on things that really need reworks, like the irid hatchet which now probably is crap on the killer's side.

Just because every person of X group hates something doesn't make it bad.
For example: you bring up iri hatchets (you can only have one) so it's perfectly balanced. Maybe all survivors (if they think it's op rn) need to get good. And this isn't just dismissive, it's really easy to dodge hatchets if you keep an eye and strafe.
A killer example would be exhaustion perks: dead hard and SB in particular are hated by most killers, but you wouldn't want these nerfed/reworked.
I'm not saying to nerf those perks. The iri hatchet is definitely not balanced. Honestly, I think it's worse on the killer's side because of how many times they have to reload their hatchets once they miss. The Brand New Part sucks on the killer's side too, as it gives the skilled survivors a free buff that they don't need. Many red rankers are using it now probably for that reason. It's even worse with keys.
If the Devs take a break off new content, they can really balance out all of these things.

Due to running all patches through Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo for certification one patch a week is prolly the fastest they can do changes, as they have for some time now done all updates across all platforms all at the same time.
If it were only going through Steam there could be multiple patches within a week if necessary, but with the consoles it can take more than a week to get those certifications done.
Trickster's chapter was pushed back a week solely because of such a delay I believe.
I mentioned the idea because of how busy they are. With so much work, the mid-chapter patches don't give them enough time to fix the problems.
-
Exactly, guys! I'm so glad you all understand/agree with my point of view. I really think they should do this. Like I said, perk changes alone would really help mix up the game through more synergetic builds. If they do that, we might not have to see Borrowed Time and Dead Hard so much in the red ranks. Glad they nerfed Decisive Strike already.

Old Lery's was my favorite map for a very long time, both as survivor and killer. That map was perfect. Literally perfect.
As for The Game, I disagree with what you've said. Some god pallets were already there, but that was it. There weren't many to begin with, and after they were gone there a little a survivor could do. As for stealth, I never had a problem with it, mostly because Old Freddy had a little trick to deal with stealthy survivors that most people don't know about.
The Game was one of the deadliest maps for a reason.
I love Old Freddy and miss him. :( He was my favorite killer back then and his power was unique! I loved his permanent invisibility. He was actually my first killer I made P3. When I mained him (when people thought he was weak), I got a lot of 4ks, so at the end of rounds I commonly said "Never doubt Bloody Freddy". As any killer, you can get good with them if you try hard enough.
-
@BioX said:
Ermm that is exactly what the mid chapters are for
And the mid-chapters are short, and generally not too many things get fixed during those. That's why I said delay an entire chapter: so they can REALLY take the time to buff/nerf perks/killers and fix problems.
They fix some perks/add-ons here and there, but many are still left pointless/OP. For instance, every survivor hates the iridescent hatchet, but all they did with that during their short time was deny the ability to get 2 extra hatchets. Allowing only 1 hatchet at a time actually backfires on the killer at this point. Can't think of one right now, but I'm sure there are many ways to change that.
I really don't mean to be attacking the Devs, as I know they still work really hard on everything.

Lucky one there! I have been getting a little luckier recently, but for a while during the current event (and before it) I kept getting the worst/hardest maps (look at my previous discussions) and even got Haddonfield probably 20% of the rounds as any killer for possibly a week. Literally. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if this game focused certain maps/realms on certain people.

Kinda wierd too since the swamp seems to be haunting me when playing literally any other killer that being part of the reason why i am a deathslinger main
This game is just weird. I think it just chooses certain realms for each person for each killer. It's weird, though, that I seem to also see the swamp whenever I watch others too. With Blight, I keep getting hard maps. Get Coldwind the most right now. The round before last round as him I got Rancid Abotoir (or however you spell that). As Huntress, I tend to get Springfield a bunch.

Yeah, they haven't made Coldwind better for the game itself and killers in general, but rather just made it more visually appealing, along with actually being MORE survivor sided due to seemingly stronger loops. Even in Pig's Game they added godpallets.

Hawkins yes, and maybe original dead dog, but now survivors send me there intentionally because in order to have a chance I have to pretend I'm the Kool-aid man for the first five minutes to make the loops even remotely able to be ended.
The only true killer sided maps at this point are:
Hawkins
Shelter Woods
The Game Maybe depending on the Killer.
Meanwhile every killer groans when we see.
Any McMillan Estate map
Any Autohaven Map
Any Coldwind Map
Midwich (I'll concede I think survivors hate this one almost as much as killers do)
Lampkin Lane
Badham Pre-School
The game is survivor sided if we're talking similar ranked killers and survivors. 4 red rank survivors, even in solo queue, are at an advantage against a red rank killer.
Thank you! I entirely agree with that, 100%.

I think it’s the best rework so far, I like that it’s daylight because we have enough dark maps, it looks pretty and as a killer, I personally don’t struggle catching survivors. I hope it doesn’t get changed graphics wise.
Not sure what rank you are and where you live, but the red rankers where I live completely abuse the maps at times. Hard to learn how hit the smartest survivors with hatchets or as the Nurse in a giant field of grain.
-
@Kwikwitted said:
Ironically that would actually nerf killers more than survivors, considering survivors could still crouch in the corn and be undetected, while killers have no such ability.
Though I guess they would become Ghostface's favorite maps.
In many maps people can crouch in bushes to hide. I am just saying to shrink the corn to make chases a bit better. It's so annoying and hard (to learn, at least) with killers like Nurse and Huntress. Many say Coldwind is good for Huntress, but it is very hard to learn with so much grain, or at least for me. Same with Nurse. So much grain just blocks your sight. The maps themselves are survivor sided already with their god-loops.
-
@JimboMason said:
Its a visually beautiful rework, but it still has major problems, such as map size, and powerful interconnecting loops
Bullseye. That is exactly what I mean. The whole realm is quite pretty, but how it can be played is the problem.
-
@WexlerWendigo said:
You realise this happens to survivors too? We aren’t jumping for joy when we get spawned into Hawkins or Dead Dawg, it’s just the game right now.
Also, the game is not survivor sided. SWF are 100% stronger than killers, no denying that. But killers are stronger than solo queue survivors, especially below red rank. If the game made killers stronger as a whole, lower ranks would be elo hell.
Technically with the very best survivors versus the very best killer on any map, the survivors would almost surely win. There is pretty much no killer in the game that isn't able to be countered. The best Nurse might be able to win, but there are ways to really frustrate a Nurse too at many maps. Any killer thrives off of the mistakes of survivors, so if they make few mistakes, the killer has no chance. The very best survivors that know what to do in each situation could easily outplay any killer. It is impossible to fully make the game balanced.
-

Because if you're good at huntress the survivor can't dodge a fully charged hatchet especially when they can't see you through the corn
True, but at the same time it is hard for the Huntress to see the survivor with so much corn/wheat in the way. Without paying very close attention, it is super hard to get a hit. You have to see them a tiny bit through the corn/wheat, which is how I end up doing good that day.

I wouldn't say surely at all, now back in the old days of the De-Pip squad, old maps, old item balance, old animations, I'd agree with ya but nowadays things are far more balanced. I do agree BHVR's MM and rank system has always had issues (
Still better than destiny 2 crucible though lol)But things have been improving and a lot of the old bad maps are getting replaced with better versions, I wish that some killers had a reduced chance of getting maps that would be horrible for them such as Huntress on the Game but that would probably result in a number of other issues
This has been the way for many years
The game has definitely gotten more balanced along with SOME maps getting better (honestly, some only created more god-loops), but the game will likely never get entirely balanced. They need to change the keys though. People have really been successfully using them recently for me. Past 2 days, probably 3 groups of people escaped.

Yeah I know the feeling about getting bad maps multiple times in a row, its why I do wish sometimes that map offerings and BP offerings occupied different slots. But that is the nature of RNG and sometimes you have to suffer through the bad luck or forego BP and slap on a map offering
Also making the game go more towards killer wouldn't fix anything it would just be an inverse the game should never be tilted in favor of the other side because one of them is having a bad time. The game should always be neutral and attempt the best balance for both sides, what you suggest would simply punish survivors that had nothing to do with the previous games
I just wish there WAS some way to balance it. The best killer versus the best survivors, survivors surely win. And yeah, it would be nice if they were separated.

I am not sure what others think, but I'd love for the devs to eventually add this! I am one of those odd people, in both games and real life. I love the rare the topic of weather (and have studied meteorology for a long time), along with the Legion being one of my favorite killers.
-
I entirely agree with you on this one. The last Legion mission is to get FIVE hits in one frenzy. FIVE. Even though I have played Legion so long, it is mighty rare to even hit 4 with how large the maps are currently, especially Midwich.
-
I think the Legion's power is really good itself (I am a Legion main myself), but it is just things like this that make many people doubt him. Maybe the Devs could make his power naturally last a bit longer or have him move faster (and/or shorten his cool down as you said)? The many still-giant maps don't allow him to hit many people when they are spread apart. It kills him when he can only hit one person each frenzy. The more he hits, the stronger he becomes. When a Legion player can hit almost everyone each frenzy, the game is theirs.
-
The same thing happened to me as a survivor but reversed. I was red rank four, and the other 3 survivors and the killer were all yellow ranks. It was a bit weird having a red rank be with 4 yellow ranks.

I really agree with you on all of that. I feel like the licensed characters really add something to the game. I am an absolute fan of horror characters, my favorite being Freddy and Michael (in general, not in-game though I still like them both in-game), so I can't wait for the next.
