No I didn't create a bug report, I just upvoted the one that existed 3 days ago with no interaction from BHVR (but to be fair, weekend).
And included this photos... But these stupid map bugs are really starting to become ridiculous

Hope this helps you figure out your ######### ######### BHVR

Find a survivor
Dance around with survivor to show you are friendly.
Throw the yellow gas to the side. (Remember it has a delay)
Switch to purple gas and throw at the survivor.
Survivor runs through yellow gas.
Repeat
After completed, kill survivor.
So basically convince survivor to farm with you... Thats a good design for a challenge.
-
That is so dumb, but coming from the people who can't get a lobby to work. It makes sense/

Should've posted the rest of it you're hiding a lot of information there. That looks like a perfect game to me. There's been times where I got 11hooks and the last survivor escaped yet I still get a perfect grade. Maybe just 100-300 BPs of from a perfect 32K.
I was only a little over 30k... I am going to play another round, its most likely a bug... they happen.

big difference between nemesis and pinhead is the survivor cant take your zombies hostage.
sure terrain might do that but at least nemmy can reset them with a quick whip.
pinhead cant reset his box if they decides to abuse the poor decision of how his chain hunts work
Once again if you are not downing the person holding the box who is in a chain hunt, then either you are playing poorly or the RNG is screwing you. Neither of those are the players fault. And downing the player with the box automatically starts a chain hunt on everyone else.
So once again, this isn't a survivor thing, its an RNG thing or you just played poorly. But I don't know you and want to assume you're poor at the game, so I am blaming RNG.

its not that they are solving it, they are REFUSING to solve it, the chain hunt doesnt start not because they are solving it, but because they are holding it.
the box will only hunt the box holder if they pick it up, if that single survivor is good as looping, or keeping the killer busy that box is doing NOTHING for the killer but reminding you that your still being looped due to the clink of the chains constantly missing the box holder.
you cannot teleport to the guy to stop him solving the box if he is refusing to solve it, as long as he HOLDS the box, the map wide hunt never starts
Yeah thats the RNG I keep mentioning, his RNG for a chain hunt either on everyone or just the box holder needs to be adjusted to a middle growd. Becauses its honestly either completely useless or extremely oppressing. Once again this is less to do with the survivor and more to do with BHVR's RNG and the Map as in indoor map will have more chances to block chains.
I bet you've had matches where the chains carried heavily, I know I have but you don't complain about the chains being oppressive in those instances. Its like when nemsis gets carried by zombies just being in the right place and downing a survivor at just the right time, no one complains about that rng but they complain every they feel like they didn't get any value.
DBD is sadly an RNG game, you're going to get matches where that RNG carries you and then you are going to get matches where BHVR's RNG bends you over and makes you its play thing. It sucks and I fell you, trust me I do, I've been BHVR's plaything many a times in my nearly 4k hours. I just feel like its a hard thing to fix and I hope they work on it. But its a BHVR thing not a survivor thing.

the point is there were almost NO chains BECAUSE he took the box hostage, cant have RNG chains if he takes the RNG away entirely, sure the one guy had chains but he was also on a map that favored him, meaning my ability to be oppressive was denied entirely, no killer power should be completely switched off by the survivor (if the killer misses an ability, doesnt setup, whatever thats fine its the killers fault) otherwise its not a killer is it? if the enemy can completely take your ability away thats down right broken.
imagine if survivors could lock the lockers and deny hatchets+knives, disassemble all bear traps permanently or wear gas masks so clown has no effect, it breaks the balance, this is whats happening to pinhead and his box currently
I mostly play killer, but do play survivor with my friends. None of us hold the box as in your example, but we have only really every experianced less then a handful of chain hunts. Cause we just go and do the box when it appears.
Which you're saying is denying the killer their power, but its also taking someone off gens. Rarely has the box appeared next to us, we usually have to run across the map for it. You may not be getting map pressure from the chain hunts but you are then getting pressure from people not doing gens. Its really a win win for the killer. And this only becomes harder after a survivor dies. The game already drastically changes when it becomes a 3v1 but a 3v1 that also has to prevent chain hunts... Thats pretty oppersive in my limited experiance.
So once again, I am sorry you got screwed over on an INDOOR map by an RNG mechanic. But this still seems more of an issue with the map design then anything else. I suspect you have this issue far less on outdoor maps, I know I do.

it was the doctors map so indoors, easy to avoid chains, the only time he did gens was when i stopped bothering to chase him because he had an insane amount of body blocking from teammates, pallet RNG, and deadhard, after wasting 3minutes trying to take the box back i knew it wasnt happening so i went for his buddies, they were just as eager to be chased as puzzle box boy.
the game ended with one hook because the box holder got cocky at gates and i dragged him back, but they still saved him and because of D strike, he got a free escape since iths either pick him up and eat the stun or let him crawl to victory.
lose lose situation, thats when i didnt see the point in staying and gave them a quitter bonus and ate a "mmr" hit, i might end up tanking just so i can get a footing because screw this mmr crap so far
I am not trying to be an ass, but your using a map where RNG favors the survivors for his power as your example... Which don't get me wrong, is not great, BHVR should really work on chain spawns for indoor maps. Its not really a fair test or the fault that the players used BHVR bad choices to take advantage of a killer that is so heavily RNG based.
You really shouldn't be complaining about the survivors, but more so that his chains RNG logic for his chain hunts either do nothing or are extremely oppressive and indoor maps exaggerates that to an extreme

chain hunt only affect the box holder while they carry it, if they do not try to solve it, no instinct or teleport is available.
he abused this and took the box out of play essentially and just did gens and looped while holding it.
chains were out of play for the other 3 players because of this so they were able to power house the gens and body block me if i managed to get close to taking the box away from him.
If some dude was successfully completling gens and looping you well they had an active chain hunt (which holding the box does, it gives that player a chain hunt)... Then either that player got the best RNG in the world or you just didn't play well. It's super easy to down the player holding the box cause chain hunts slow them down quite a bit.
Now to be fair, this can also be RNG but if he had it most of the game, then as I said before either he had the best RNG in the world or you could have made better plays.

the grade isnt the issue, i took a 2month break, so im a "0 mmr" player due to their resent slate wipe, the groups im being put up against as a "new" player are so desgustingly one sided its borderline questionable how setting the default mmr to the BOTTOM of the numbers was a freaking good idea.
when you do mmr system you start people at the middle so people can either climb or fall.
starting at the bottom means you will ONLY climb, never fall, meaning whenever a sweat group wants to stomp "ez" games they can just get a DBD gift for a friend, let him "smurf", party with him, artificially lower your groups mmr low enough to be against "ez" matches, repeat ad infinium.
edit: and because bottom of the mmr means you cannot go any lower, new account smurfing will become so abusable that new players will almost ALWAYS be against either sweaty smurfers or literal newbies, no inbetweens, and because losing means no progress AT ALL because your always at the bottom, this pattern with infinitely happen
I might have missed this, but I don't recall them saying they were starting everyone at 0? If so then I am a lot more ######### at DBD then I thought because my games were not against new players. They have been gather data for almost the entire year and before if I recall correctly so you taking the last two off wouldn't really matter. But once again this could be under my false assumption that they didn't start everyone at 0.
As for the smurf... The SBMM takes the team average, so yes one player being a lower MMR would lower it, but shoudn't really be a smurf...
Lastly holding his power is kinda dumb, chain hunts are super annoying, you can either treat it as a 3v1 as the person with the cube is really going to get harassed to much to be productive towards then gen goal. Or you can down him and start the chain hunt which will take everyone off gens.

Nope: The first version of SBMM only used kills and escapes to calculate your rating, but it did not work out so it was quickly scrapped. The current system takes a number of different factors into account when deciding when your rating should go up or down (and by extension, by how much).
Basically, the way it's calculated is complex, and the goal is to have you "win" in about half your matches.
Does that mean you guys actually defined a win? Cause we kinda have been waiting for that for 4 years

I hate that the Rift challenges are challenging! :P
Just kidding. Some of them ARE a little overboard, relying a bit too much on luck and low-chance circumstances. Though, to be fair, with so many tomes and so many challenges within each tome I'm sure that it's got to be tough coming up with a unique, steady flow of "challenging but not impossible" actions for the player to perform.
To be fair, my real issue with this challenge is the do it twice part. Its already hard enough to get people to cleanse as is, so you may not even have many chances to do it.
This is my first challenge I have found that I think is over board. Every other challenge I have complained about, was either me misunderstanding it, or BHVR not knowing how words work. This particular challenge is just WHY?
-
@TMCalypso said:
To get this challenge done, I played like I was brand new to the game and hoped the survivors I got were the toxic type. The first and only time I ever hoped for toxic survivors. First thing I did was identify where the doors were. Then I made sure that the two fountains closest to each door was ready to be used. I did this by only vomiting on one person at a time and "lose them" so they could go cleanse. Once everything was set I just "lost a chase" and "missed every attack" until the gens were done. Once they were I grabbed the fountain furthest of the 2 that were near the door I was at. The two survivors in there had fun with their butt dances as I hit them. They left as I picked up another red fountain on the way to the other door where the other two were practicing their vaulting technique. Got it done as they twerked their way through the gate.
So basically you threw a whole game to do one rift challenge.
I don't know stuff like this should be something you can do in the game without forcing people to farm, pure luck, or throwing an entire round.

No not really. Anyone in a position that asks them to do basic proof reading and spell checks should 100% be up for termination if they can't properly do their job. That is the real world, don't coddle them.
I am not disagree with you. The challenge is stupid and BHVR should recognize that. Also They should have fixed such a simple spelling mistake in an update. I do still believe the rift is freaking stupid and the **spelling bug** is also freaking stupid.
HOWEVER, the mod was right, I still shouldn't have said what I said about whoever designed this challenge. I do hope they think twice before every designing a challenge that almost requires you to force someone to farm or just get plain lucky.
-
@Ashlich said:

Then why did you say it in the first place? Seems like you don't have a good grasp of your emotions.
Because I spent 2 hours working on the previous tome challenge called "Spread the Sickness" in which it states **Injure a Survivor 6 time(s) with Vile Purge as The Plague. Complete this challenge in a single trial**
But since BHVR can't fix bugs or clearly they have no easy way to update rift text... Thats not what you're supposed to do for that challenge. you are supposed to **Injure a Survivor 6 time(s) with Corrupt Purge as The plague".
So basically after wasting 2 hours of my saturday working on a challenge I was never going to complete because BHVR screwed up the spelling. I came to the forums where someone told me I am supposed to use Corrupt Purge. I finally complete that challenge and then read this one. Tired it about 3 times and just lost myself to anger.
So yes I didn't have a good grasp of my emotions. The mod still did the right thing.

I had to farm this one. I just sat afk by a corrupt fountain right next to a gen. M1 the fountain and gen until the 2 survivors that found me got the message.
This is one of the worst challenges imo in the game right next to the 4 pallet stuns in a single game.
Yeah this is basically what everyone is saying. You have to farm it out or just get lucky.
Which is dumb because forcing people to farm is technically reportable, and even if they didn't farm you're still able to be reported because AFK and **refusing to participate in normal gameplay** is also reportable.
So basically BHVR in all of their wisdom made one of the dumbest rift challenges I've ever seen.

That wouldn't be that difficult. just slap on all the undetectable perks or play as myers/ ghostface and down 8 survivors.
With these perk challenges you don't actually need to use the perk. You just need it equiped
I am assuming he meant do this as plague 4 times. As this specific challenge in the OP is a plague specific challenge.
-
@Junylar said:
The first book has a survivor challenge which requires you to completely finish 4 (FOUR) generators within one game. It also has a trapper challenge, in which you need to catch someone in a trap 6 times within one game. I guess you missed those.
6 pallet stuns within one game and grabs are nearly impossible too.
The difference is this. Yes those survivor ones could be hard, but can be easily done as SWF.
- Its really easy as a SWF to do 4 generators. Also it was finish 4 generators not do a total of 4 generators
- I play quite a bit of trapper, I didn't have a problem with any of the trapper ones.
- And there wasn't a challenge that was get 6 pallet stuns... It was get 6 stuns. Which is easy with head on and pallets.
Yes all of these were hard, but something you could realistically get done within a few matches and most of them could be in your control. I will admit, the finish 4 generators one is a lot harder as a solo then it is as a SWF. But you can hit up the discord for SWF friends and know out most of those survivors ones fairly easily.
@WTBacon said:
You could try and cheese this.
- Equip Discordance + Tinkerer
- Use both Apple add-ons
- Sit near a fountain
- Use fountain when you think Tinkerer is about to proc then go to the gen
Alt.
- Discordance + Tinkerer
- Iridescent Seal, the one that gives corrupt when a gen is completed
- Go to gen when Tinkerer procs, wait for them to finish out of sight
You won't win the match with these strategies, but if you are at max bp and are trying to save for next chapter you could do this.
I agree though that this challenge is ridiculous.
So spend 7 million to perk out plague to do one challenge. I have Brutal, Dark, Infictions, mindbreaker, predator, spies, whispers, agitation, dying light, furtive chase, devour, noed, make your choice, monstrous shrine, Pop, rancor, BBQ, corrupt, distressing, hang mans trick, insidious, knockout, play with your food.

But when I play survivor I see Pop or Ruin WAY more then I see corrupt
-
@Gnarly said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2212423#Comment_2212423
Difference between Pop and Ruin, they have requirements. Ruin is limited as long the totems up. Pop needs a hook.
Corrupt is just Free 3 gens that survivors spawn by. No actual skill to have it pay off.
Unlike Pop and ruin, at least for me, as survivor I don't feel oppressed by the perks.
Pop only gets stronger as there are less gens, same with ruin. Corrupt is only strong where there are multiple gens because well that is the only time it works.
Ruin isn't a problem as survivor if you just cleanse it right away or within the first 2 minutes, but after a 2 minute mark, ruin is gaining A LOT of value in the game. Pop is always valuable.
In case it's not noticeable, I really only like perks on my killers that I would want to play against as survivor.
-
@Gnarly said:
☆EDIT☆
-I am aware that the balance of the game with bigger maps make it almost necessary. I'm wondering if the perk is too relied on at times. YES I KNOW 3 GENS CAN BE DONE instantly depending on map, but that's a game issue ya know. Just annoyed by the overuse. I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH OF AN ISSUE WITH THE PERK, I HAVE THE ISSUE OF THE OVERUSE.
I mostly play killer, but I personally never use Corrupt Intervention. It's not a fun perk and it feels cheap at times. Sure it's gone forever and never reused after, but it's too rewarding. No skill required and it lockdowns a bunch of the map for killers.
It is in every build when I'm against a killer. Now I'm back at Red Ranks on survivor. Is it really that necessary? I never use it and can still Double Pip as a killer.
What can we do to have this perk being used non stop.
So as someone who mostly plays killer, Corrupt is one of the few slow downs I like Ruin is RNG, it'll either do nothing, last about 2 minutes, or make the game impossible for survivors depending on where it spawns. Pop is just way to strong of a perk. I don't want the survivors to have to do 1-2 extra gens worth of time.
I prefer corrupt because its consistent but not over bearing on the survivors end. Corrupt gives me early game map pressure in which I can turn into downs with means I can get end game pressure easily too.
-
Naw... Pop the gens...
But then again I am the guy that cleanses against Plague and Just opens the exit game... Games need a little spice... Don't try to sweat so hard.
-
In short. Anyone can pick up spirit and be pretty good at her... throw on Stridor and Pop, and you would have to be the worst killer in the game or going up against some very strong survivors to lose.
I don't know anyone who just picked up nurse and was good with her.
Basically people give nurse a break because it takes more training to be good with her... Where as spirit most people can be good with her, with just a decent pair of headphones and stridor.

The thing is survivors dont have to risk anything when they bring strong perk. If they all bring dead hard there ain't much the killer can do to stop that. Not only that, people bring ruin so much because base regression is extremely trash. it take as much time to regress one gen from 99% to 0% than it take survivors to do 5 other gens from 0%. it take 2 second to kick a gen yet survivor can tap it for 1/60 of a sec and stop the whole regression.
on the other side survivor can gen rush and there no counter to that, and by Gen rush I mean being extremely optimal with their objectives. like all working on different gens. go for rescue only when survivore are close to lose hook stage. Only heal if you going to be chase/save someone.
I just don't see why killer who has less perk slot to use are the one who need to risk those when on the other side we got perks that are powerful and rarely have drawback.
But why do you need so much gen regression in the game? For example, to help prove my point this morning. I played Demodoggy. I've played 9 rounds so far. My build is BBQ, STBFL, Corrupt and Ruin. I usually run BBQ, STBFL, Corrupt and StarStruck. However, I am running ruin and corrupt together because corrupt basically tells me when 2 minutes in the game has passed.
In 9 of those rounds ruin was cleansed before corrupt ran out twice. In both instances there was a pink map brought. I can't say if the map user is the one who cleansed ruin or not, Those are just the observations I've made this morning. That means out of 9 rounds ruin lasted more than 2 minutes in 7. As a side note I 4k'ed every game I played this morning so far. Though to be fair, I usually 4k a good 80-90% of my games.
EDIT: At 22 games with 5 games where ruin was cleansed before corrupt ended... So in about 22% of my games... Thats still 78% of games where ruin lasted more than two minutes.
Now this is way to low of a sample size to draw an accurate representation of how quickly ruin is cleansed, however it is slowly proving my point. Ruin last much longer then people expect in most games. We as human beings tend to focus and remember the negative impacts. So if you play 30 games and ruin got cleansed in the first 2 minutes of the match 5 times... You'll most likely remember those games most often and not the ones where ruined helped you get a 4k at 4 gens.
So I pose this question to you... What do you want the devs to do? Remove hex perks and let them last 100% of the game... Because ######### NO... I would just never play survivor again if someone could have ruin always up all the time. Do you want them to create better spawns? Because thats what they have done with a lot of the new maps and some of the map reworks (not all, some are still pretty bad). Even if they do this, its only a temporary solution. Better totem spawns only last until players learn totem spawn locations, which takes me maybe 4-5 games to do.

Ok...I could make an entire video and speed it up x2-3 times of one day of playing. And my ruin would be gone in all my matchs less then a minute and be in painfully obvious and ######### spawns
Why would you need to speed it up? And please do, no cuts no modifications. I bet you'll be surprised at how often a hex stays up for at least 120 seconds.

A streamer ? Hell I can make an entire compilation of my ruin being right next to generator spawns and being gone in less then a minute.. Just like the first match I did today in Yamaoka. And you know what ? It was gone in 1 minute and was right next to a gen
The problem with a compilations is it just isn't good for statistics. That would be like me saying I kobe every game, but then only showing you the games in which I kobe'd
The reason I picked a streamer is because it would be a consistent video in which couldn't be easily manipulated to build a statistical representation of yours and my argument.
-
@BrokenSouI said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2190882#Comment_2190882
But you are missing the point still. It's not about running weaker perks. It's supposed to be risk/reward. Not high risk/no reward. The point is a ton of spawn points are trash and need looked at. So no matter the RNG. They end up in an acceptable place. That isn't in front of a generator, on top of a hill like a lighthouse, in the open surrounded by nothing.
You mean all of the things the devs are already doing? Plus there is only so much they can do. For example, lerys, hawkins and Dead Dawg Saloon used to have amazing spawns... But over time survivors will learn the locations of even the trickiest spawns.
There are spots I check every time I play survivor on those maps.
If you want to change my mind, here is what you'll have to do. find a streamer who streams around 4-8 hours who also always uses a hex perk. If I watch that vod and the hex is cleansed within the first 120 seconds of the match (The same time corrupt lasts) in more then 25% of those games. I'll agree with you.
EDIT: The reasoning behind this is, I bet most people get value out of their High Risk Perks in at least 75% of their games, but choose to focus on the ones they didn't get value in it at all.

Again. You're missing the point. The issue isn't "run something else". Totem spawns are trash is what we're getting at. And it IS an issue. That isn't fixed by just "running something else"
I am not missing the point... Totems are RNG and they are not always trash.
Hex's are super strong perks, every single one of them except maybe 3rd seal unless you know everyone is solo.
There are less powerful perks, that have less RNG.
You can choose to run strong RNG perks, or weaker consistent perks. I choose to run the weaker consistent perks. You choose to run more RNG based perks. It's a choice you made, that you have to live with.
-
So two things... At best its the first 18 seconds of the game since it takes 16 seconds to cleanse a totem.
Also, you could run corrupt over ruin if you just want slowdown at the start of the game... Or you have to admit ruin is very powerful if it doesn't get cleansed.
If you want a slowdown that is more consistent then run one, if you want one that is stronger but relies on RNG then run it. You have options.

Wait, really?
I've come back after a long break, I stopped playing around when Blight was released, and they had talked about non-rank based matchmaking and matchmaking tailored to which killer you picked rather than your overall killer rank/skill.
They still haven't actually...implemented that?
Nope, they have done two test to my knowledge and neither has been overwhelmingly positive. So they took it back off.
-
I am not a dev or anyone informed by them, most of this is my personal opinion and guesses.
- Their first attempt at doing the match making just kinda failed. After around a week no one really noticed anything. They took it down to improve it and we never heard of it again until a month or so again.
- Their second attempt of it was well... I couldn't play Spirit, Huntress, or Demodoggy without feeling like a heavy need to sweat all game just to get 1-2 kills. Now I don't need a 4k, but I don't want to feel sweaty to get a 2k. I play pretty fairly normally and would get 2-4 kills a game normally. If I played any other killer then those 3, I basically 4k'ed with ease every game.
So basically, it wasn't good enough the first time around and the second time I feel like it was to punishing. So I am guessing they are trying to find a middle ground between the two.
