In my opinion on xbox. He is high tier in indoor maps and mid to low in outdoor. The reason being is a big part of his power is the zombies, but they don't do a lot if anything on outdoor maps really. His tentacle is okay. I personally think it needs a few more meters or so of range, but that's just my opinion.
I feel it needs more WIDTH instead of reach. I find it to be incredibly stupid game design that survivors can run into you to avoid the attack completely. Like what? PHs PotD comes out from his entire body so they cant just run in front of his face and dodge it but Nemesis must of been designed by an intern if they can't even make their mechanics consistent.

He doesn't even FEEL like he's a 115% MS killer. I feel like a Huntress trying to catch up to them. Idk why either.

So you're willing to pay money for an incomplete DLC. Makes sense.

I wasnt even doing anything bad, I was trying to reply to the guy who said I was being rude by showing a video of how busted the game is right now. They kept removing it.
He said theyre only messing things up now because theyre trying to work from home, I was trying to give pre covid examples.
Yea, that's what they do. Someone reports a comment and even if it's baseless a mod will come by and take it down. God help you if you dare use swear words in a M Rated game though because woo boy they take it as a crime.

Okay what would be the right amount of bp to apologize for this broken Patch?
There is no "right amount". It's the fact they basically said all of the issues that the patch has brought out which include up to staggering performance issues on rigs that never existed pre-patch, to the point it's impossible to actually play, to actually removing half of the DLC people paid for because it just doesn't work is equal to an hour of our time. It's a giant middle finger to the entire player base. The LEAST they could do is offer a double BP weekend once they have sorted the issues out. But as it stands? 300k is the equivalent to being told piss off.
-
@BronzeHandModel said:
Okay i was to quick with my Reaction. You are right when for the most people the game is unplayable (especially on console) , thats not good and i understand your Frustration. But im not a white knight or a boot licker. I had a opinion that i changed slightly. Im tired of the greedieness of BP and other stuff in this forum thats all. Just wanted put out my opinion in this.
Sorry no, that's not even a real apology. Nobody that has actually played this game for more than 100 hours is going to be happy with 300k BP. That's a drop in the bucket to every single player. On average to a killer player if they score 25k BP and have BBQ with no BP Offerings they will get 50k, that's 6 matches to equal out that amount and let's be generous and say every match is 10 minutes long, that's ONLY an hour of time they gave out. It's literally nothing, especially when you realize that 300k BP is equivalent to roughly 20% of the way to LV 50, factor in that once you've learned enough teachables, even getting LV 50 is pointless as you'll be missing a large majority of perks.

@Nebula said:
You clearly don't play on console.
The console experience, if you can't tell by now, is absolutely miserable.
No joke, the least optimized game I have ever played in my life.
And the sad thing? People on PC are getting console tier performance right now. Ten digit frames when generators pop, hooking survivors, using killer powers etc. And these are rigs with well beyond reasonable requirements. This is just unexcuseable to consistently do this every update.
-
@BronzeHandModel said:
First of all,
I understand that bugs and crashes are frustating and lows the fun of playing the game. But every game this big has the problems.
But to criticize every chapter or update saying its unplayable and demand a ridiculous amount BP for free is just disproportionate.
For example Skyrim had so many bugs over years and no one got any "compensation". We all get free Bp for the many bugs in dbd. Be greatful. I mean its still playable and enjoyable. Take it like a grown up.
OH goodie, another white knight to defend a company that doesn't need it. Take your grandstanding elsewhere please, the grown ups are talking.

He's awful, but you can win with him. So therefore he's viable.
The most helpful thing to do in this situation is to tell the OP to practice more.
Also, anyone can be as good as Otz if you play enough.
Alright yea I'm done with you. You're just blatantly being an ######### like I initially thought. Good day.

I can't answer the question. I said to practice more because you'll eventually get really good, and be able to use a good build and playstyle.
So no, I'm not an #########.
So again, generic, non-helpful comments with no actual substance to it. ANYONE can do good with any killer if they put in enough time like Otz, but we all aren't Otz now are we? Viable is a very flimsy cop-out for "he's really awful but can do okay in these super niche situations", but I'm sure you know that and are just being facetious towards OP.
-
@CoalTower said:

I'm not. How is calling a killer viable being an #########?
Answer that question adequately and then you can call me that
Because the OP was asking for help with trickster under the impression he's bad because they've already dumped time and effort into it thinking they're missing something and then here you come going "He's viable trust me" with nothing else for every single comment you've made. You've done nothing to actually answer the OPs question hence you're an #########.

Because I spent 2 hours working on the previous tome challenge called "Spread the Sickness" in which it states **Injure a Survivor 6 time(s) with Vile Purge as The Plague. Complete this challenge in a single trial**
But since BHVR can't fix bugs or clearly they have no easy way to update rift text... Thats not what you're supposed to do for that challenge. you are supposed to **Injure a Survivor 6 time(s) with Corrupt Purge as The plague".
So basically after wasting 2 hours of my saturday working on a challenge I was never going to complete because BHVR screwed up the spelling. I came to the forums where someone told me I am supposed to use Corrupt Purge. I finally complete that challenge and then read this one. Tired it about 3 times and just lost myself to anger.
So yes I didn't have a good grasp of my emotions. The mod still did the right thing.
No not really. Anyone in a position that asks them to do basic proof reading and spell checks should 100% be up for termination if they can't properly do their job. That is the real world, don't coddle them.

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ZTOJD881KNX9/image.png
There are so many things wrong with this challenge is stupid...
- How often you get to use Corrupt Purge is complete dependent on survivors.
- Survivors being next to each other once again, not something a killer has control over
- Then hitting them both in one discharge
- Doing all of this twice in a single trial
Like this would be the equivalent of putting a rift challenge on the survivor side that said: Avoid 5 hatchets thrown by the huntress. Do this 2 time(s). Complete this challenge in a single trial.
Survivors don't have control of who the killer is, how many hatchets that killer throws at them and how many times they can force this twice.
Oh hey look, I see a mod edited your post because you dared to say something they don't like. Sorry for your loss.
-
Per BHVRs own words: be killer, can't kill anyone because everyone has magical tag that gets you banned. 100% sure killers are just gonna get mass reported for hate crimes because they dared to play the game.

I think it’s a little different. I’m going to play devil’s advocate here. Heterosexuality is not being celebrated with heterosexuals month, heterosexual parades, or heterosexual-themed items, etc. You hear some people say they feel like this LGBT stuff is thrown in their faces/flaunted/crammed down their throats or whatever. They may feel uncomfortable about the subject, it may be against their religious upbringing, and they may just be tired of demands to see it acknowledged and celebrated everywhere, even in a horror game they bought to murder some people with Freddy. Im more neutral and don’t particularly share these same beliefs or anything, but hopefully you are at least capable of understanding a little why some people are not super crazy about the idea of LGBT events and items in the game.
Everything you just said is pretty much spot on for me. It comes a point where you feel you'll get banned because you Moried someone who is LGBT+ and took it as a hate crime. Some will laugh but yea, it does feel this extreme to some heterosexuals.

It would make sense, they thought pre buff Trickster was "perfectly fine", Billy's overheat was added supposedly because of them and then there was the colorblind mode controversy...
Almo has repeatedly said they are half of the balance team which stands to reason there's only 2 people actually doing any changes and when it's a 50/50 split on things it's no wonder nothing or barely anything gets done. I'm sick of getting MAYBE one perk fixed every chapter and they end up adding 6 more afterwards.

Kinda sad to see this thread devolve into another "us vs them" post.
There is zero difference between them having useless flashlights because of lightborn or them not having flashlights outside maybe 1 attempt at blinding.
Switching out the flashlights or not has little to no effect on how that game goes. Lightborn still made it so you don't have to deal with flashlights. Wether they have them or not is irrelevant.
As long as op didn't switch to all toolboxes or keys they did nothing wrong.
Can people please think if something is worth getting upset over before getting upset over it. Or is today's society's ego really that fragile that the second they get trolled they need to get upset. No matter how harmless that trolling actually was.
At this point it's not even an "Us vs Them" thread. It's how the OP gets his sick jollys antagonizing people through a game to see if they can make the killer rage in the after game chat.

It appears you and I differ because I don't get my jollies trying to anger other Players, but rather from playing the game. It is a strange hobby you have. I would be saying this to you regardless of which role you were playing (Killer or Survivor) if you were bragging and having a good laugh about how to invoke salty reactions. This is just straight up bad sportsmanship. It means you went into the match with an ulterior motive besides simply playing. What's your name in Steam so I know when I pull you; I want to have some laughs too, see what I can do in the match to make you feel salty at the end. that 3 red and 1 yellow rank I think is the biggest problem with this game. It's not fair to killers who have to deal with that.
Idk if it's the mod just being ######### or the website but anytime I post, even after the "jail" timer, It just up and never posts or it posts and then later gets deleted. Anyway, I've been Rank 1 Killer before, you really have to sweat those matches and it's not fun. I took a long break and came back recently in hopes of better balance but much to my dismay, that Matchmaking abuse is still here. Every 2-3 matches of mine at Rank 12 has been 3 Reds and a yellow or Grey. It's not fun in the least and you're better off just memorizing the map layout, practice running loops by yourself to see how much you can edge before the environment blocks you. The real fun matches are a 4 man SWF, complete with 4 Flashlights and Quad DS/UB/BT and Head-On. Those are the super bully squads that unfortunate new players get and likely uninstall from.

I do agree they should stop trying to balance things around new players and just let them try to get good. I don't wanna have a repeat cycle of when new killers and perks and stuff get released but then it becomes an issue to newbies and then they get gutted instead of trying to adapt.
Unfortunately at this stage of the games life, it won't really matter for the new players. They'll still get gutted because of matchmaking. SWF can STILL abuse the 3 reds 1 yellow to get a Killer that is not prepared to handle the 3 Reds. SBMM is still a pipe dream and it's been at least a year I want to say that they've had it running in the background for testing. Most new players I really doubt stick with this game unless they have friends to play with which just continues the cycle of abuse all around.

Zero response from the devs about the god pallet count on that map, to no one's surprise because the communication between the devs and the community has been ######### appalling for the longest time, tempted to start disconnecting everytime I get it as killer, it's literally unplayable with half of the killer roster against a semi-capable team.
This is the first map in my 2+ years of playing DBD that literally makes me want to disconnect, i'd much rather spend 5 minutes spending bloodpoints than play on that absolutely atrocious map.
Yes, I just came from a game where 3 escaped, I was playing Wraith and pretty much couldn't do anything because there's so many god pallets that I can't do anything at.
inb4 this is moved to "Feedback & Suggestions" where no one will see it and nothing will change until the devs realise in 2 years time it needs reworking again, or until a certain lead balance person plays it and realizes how terrible it is
Lol imagine thinking the developers play their own game. It's VERY obvious after a lot of their choices they simply do not. And even if they do, they do it on a fresh account at Rank 20.

the big reason why I play SWF is because I hate solo q. I always get matched up with terrible teammates who make stupid plays that cost me and the team the entire game. And I don't ever run a certain build to "bully" a killer because that's not me I don't wanna make someone's match miserable that way. My teams don't usually run the same build like how 90% of SWF squads do. I try to limit myself to one second chance perk because about maybe 70-80% of the time I don't get much use out of them.
There's always going to be outlier people in these types of debates where yes, some are just there to have a good time with friends etc, which is fine and all. Yea randoms can be hit or miss but that's also a part of the challenge and where a lot of the balance decisions are based around. They are specifically balancing around what seems to be Rank 10-20, at least that's the general ballpark people say around here. But yea, BHVR has not once stepped up to the podium and said they are looking to bring Solos up to SWF levels of information and by extension, bringing killers up to par with the amount of tools a SWF has to them.
There's also the problem of nobody wanting to play killer past a certain time because evidently that's when the toxic bully SWF groups start showing up. BHVR COULD solve a lot of the problems the game has but because of their laid back development cycle and only getting balance changes which seems to be 1 or 2 perks out of the hundreds every 3 months, it's just not going to happen sadly.

i think you should word that better, there's nothing wrong with playing with friends, you just gotta understand that you're on the winning side and not call the killer out
No I meant what I said. This game was never designed or balanced with SWF in mind. They added it to appease the people complaining they wanted to play with their friends and when they did they never bothered to adjust anything in the game to accommodate the change. Being able to coordinate perks pre match, communicate over voice chat about everything a killer is doing etc was not just flat not intended in this game original design and balance decisions.
I'm not against people wanting to play with their friends in a game, it makes them more fun but a LOT of people refuse to admit that the mode has been completely busted since its introduction because of the above. They either just don't care about the killers enjoyment or they get some sick thrill out of being able to bully someone and get away with it in a game.

No, I mean what I said. You can want to play with your friends all you want, that's fine. But the game was 100% not developed or balanced with that idea in mind. Every promotional item they released for this game as far back as launch said to either work together or die alone in some form. You weren't supposed to be able to coordinate builds pre match, communicate over voice about everything the killer does as it completely breaks the original balance design of the game.
People defending SWF are either A) Doing it because they just want to play with friends which again is fine, who doesn't. Or B) They like being able to coordinate bullying tactics against killers. But don't sit here and defend the mode as if it belongs here because the developers have never once decided to fix what they started when they added it.

Doesn't matter how you play it, it is toxic to the game.
Killer population becomes low in the evening because they don't want to play when the swf population increases.
Trap killers become useless
Stealth killers become useless
Totems become useless
gens are organised and completed quickly
there is no confusion or time waste with unhooks like you get in solo
Blindness status effect becomes useless.
You can't hit and run without everyone knowing.
Perks are synergised and aura perks are no longer needed making survivors stronger.
Blah blah blah.
it is toxic not because "you have friends to play with" but because it ruins the core of the game and has not been accounted for. Hell it even ruins solo q to a degree because the survivors that know how to play are also usually in a swf, leaving casuals and new players to play solo.
See, you get it. Anyone who disagrees with this post right here is only doing so because they just don't care about randoms and only want to play with their friends regardless of how damaging to the game it really is.

I appreciate the comment, if I'm realistic I think it's just because I enjoy playing devil's advocate and trying to see things from both sides and, as described, was fortunate enough to have experienced things from the other side firsthand.
You have every right to feel frustrated and I'm sorry that you are. I know that it isn't fun feeling (or knowing) that something that should be changed, something could be done to improve an experience, and just sitting there waiting for it to never happen. You ask, you beg, you plead, you try to raise awareness, but nothing ever gets done. I feel you. That isn't fun at all, and I've certainly been in that same position. There have been games in which just a few seemingly minor adjustments could have turned it from something agonizingly close to greatness to something of undeniably top tier quality. There have been times when something that seemed like the easiest, most common-sense decision was ignored in favor of a boneheaded decision that I felt almost had to have been made out of actual spite for reasons that I couldn't explain. It definitely happens. While my experience with this game so far hasn't left me feeling that way, I admittedly haven't been playing the game for thousands of hours. I can't speak for all of its frustrating intricacies the way that many of the rest of you can.
I CAN say something that you may find interesting though. Remember that I was invited to test an alpha build of one of THQ's yearly wrestling games in 2013? We were treated very nicely and encouraged to give them complete honesty about how we felt. They even had stacks of questionnaires about the game for us to provide feedback. Lastly they gathered us at a table with the company's executive producer and gave us an hour to chat about what we thought about not just the new game but the series as a whole. I dominated the conversation and drilled home exactly what I thought was good, what I thought was bad, what I thought could use change. Many of the others shared their thoughts clearly as well. We left feeling great about the opportunity (and I still look back on it fondly, it was a tremendous opportunity and a lot of fun). But do you want to guess how much of our feedback actually made it into the following games? None.
So believe me, I don't mean to undermine or discount your complaints or the specific complaints of others who may have them. I've told a developer to his FACE what I wanted to see, and still didn't get it. It sucks. Trust me, I know it sucks. I just wish that the fanbase in general could be more articulate and less judgmental about their complaints. Instead of saying "these developers are idiots", or "they don't care", etc., which if anything is going to LESSEN the chance of them listening, I wish that more people shared their criticism in a more polite, more productive manner.
Now, do I also wish that the developers spent more time, or maybe appointed someone to start spending time, interacting with the fans and trying to bridge that gap and make sure that the complaints are heard? Definitely.
And sadly that's how a lot of game developers do things. They ask for feedback, practically begging for it but end up using none of it. It really feels pointless when you do have people giving detailed, statistical breakdowns of why X would be more beneficial over Y, how changing this one simple thing would appease everyone etc but it all just falls on deaf ears. Then when they DO make a dev blog or something and show what they're changing it's the most head scratching nobody ever asked for this kind of changes.
I "try" to be realistic myself but after so long of just never seeing results other than "we put out more DLC for you to buy" it really grates on your nerves. I don't know if it's the developer complacency or what, but even Cotes comment of "Just go play Civ if you aren't happy" just irritates me. It feels like a cop out comment like "Yea we know things are broken, we'll get to it whenever, don't like it? go play something else".

Well, that's a subjective viewpoint. I'm not saying that I totally disagree - I've been complaining a lot about how mystifying it is (to me) that people everywhere say that The Spirit needs a nerf but they ignore that and give random (in my opinion OP) buffs to The Wraith instead.
The problem is that, as human beings, familiarity breeds complacency. As the players get more accustomed to the game being a certain way, they get angry if the things that don't like aren't addressed and / or the things that they want aren't provided. On the developer's side, it's virtually impossible to take a lot of the criticism seriously if there are a lot of players and money rolling in.
I'm not saying that either side is "wrong" - the truth, as if often the case, lies somewhere in the middle - I'm just saying that overly finicky players plus overly exasperated developers equals "you can either enjoy the game as it is or play something else".
It would be great if there was more transparency from the devs, more direct interaction with the fans, but again - and I honestly hate to say this again but it's true - I've been involved in that and it's usually a huge mess. The second that someone with any say in the game's development pops into the game's official forum they're deluged with a rapidly expanding thread of requests, demands for answers, criticism, stupid questions, fans arguing with each other, etc. I'm not trying to put everything on "the fans", many of whom are perfectly decent and well-behaved people (here and otherwise). I'm just saying that coming to the hornet's nest will usually leave a game developer stung, so they tend to try to kind of stay at arm's length and view statistics, solicit information when they feel it's necessary, etc. I know it can be frustrating - remember, I've been in your shoes too, not just "theirs" - but it tends to be a relatively neutral way of keeping the gears turning.
I get what you're saying and I'm glad someone here can be realistic about things. It's honestly just frustrating seeing the game go on with year old bugs they either refuse to fix or won't admit they can't. And then they pretty much flat out said to not expect any actual patches unless it's a chapter or mid chapter update which is pretty silly if you ask me to go that long in between balance changes. You need to be using your PTB to test ideas, get feedback, see what works and what doesn't. Right now it's a glorified trailer of whats to come in a couple weeks with minimal to no changes based on feedback.
The player surveys they ask us to fill out honestly feel like a middle finger as either they do it to appease the people that are upset and get them to think their voices are being heard or they're just turning a blind eye to a lot of things.

You have a right to feel the way that you do. To me it's less a matter of the balancing team (or whomever has the responsibility to oversee that part of the game) being incompetent and more about trying to find a perfect middle ground in a game that has such a massive playerbase (which, in all fairness, is comprised of many people who just complain) and an astounding amount of specific in-game variables.
A game of Pac-Man can feel imbalanced because the ghosts are way too fast. Easy fix. A game of Dead By Daylight feeling imbalanced? There's probably 500 different things to consider tweaking. And when they do, the people who weren't calling the game imbalanced are going to start.
Honestly? There's a lot they COULD do and realistically should. They have a PTB for these exact things but they frequently just never do. They push their latest chapter release to it for a 2-3 week "demo" and never really take much of the feedback given to heart. So while yes it could be harder to balance out a game of this size, we just never see them really "trying".

Imagine being so misinformed you think dbd is their only game when their website proves you wrong in a heartbeat.
Imagine thinking anyone takes 3 mobile games seriously when saying that.

Who is "our" - Are you speaking for all players? All forum members? Pretty sure you don't. I think you will find that the player base has differing opinions on what is good and what needs fixed/modified/added in the game.
"Our" in this context is the group of people that are unhappy with the current way things are. Saying someone is talking for everyone is just lunacy but hey, let's just ignore all the obvious things everyone universally agreed upon that are awful such as Moris and Keys, Trickster, Twins etc and just give the balance team a pass because the "Community" has differing opinions.

I mean, when I was doing stuff with THQ I spoke to the developers and in particular the PR people / community managers on a regular basis and I often felt really bad for them. They tried really hard to make everybody happy but no matter what they were slammed for pretty much everything that they did or didn't do. It was lose-lose. Make a change, piss a bunch of people off. Make a different change, piss of the other people. It was especially bad for the people who had to be the spokesperson, the ones who had to deliver news or provide only limited information, etc. In 2013 I and a handful of other "influencers" were given access to that year's alpha build of the game and got to tell people what we thought of the experience. Even people who'd formerly had nothing but good things to say about me immediately jumped to the conclusion that I was on the take, that I was now just a corporate shill who was paid off to make excuses for the company's failures, and that the upcoming game would actually be crap (none of which was actually true). The only person who got out of the situation with zero Fs given was Aubrey Sitterson, who seemed to legitimately enjoy triggering people.
I guess what I'm saying is that I've been in the unique position of being a gamer who's also been on the other side. Audiences are SO demanding, SO entitled, SO argumentative, SO fickle, you really don't realize just how bad it can get until you're the one having to try to calm it all down. I'm not saying that is applies to you guys or even anyone specific at all, I just have firsthand experience dealing with trying to keep the peace among a very large group of very outspoken fans of a very big game franchise. It honestly seemed like nothing made anyone happy, and seeing the developers face to face and watching their expressions when they say things like "we really thought people would like this" gives one a lot of perspective.
Honestly, given all the working parts that go into making this game function, I think that it's largely a success. Is it perfect? No, but no game really is. Could it use some work? Yes, of course, but the problem is that one person's fix is another person's breakage. You don't get millions of people playing a game like this for half a decade unless it's fun. There are plenty of other things to do in life. I'm always willing to hear out and discuss objective criticism of the game (as it is sometimes totally warranted) but I think that a lot of people brush aside the amount of work and attention that the developers have been giving this game just because it is not, to their tastes, 100 percent precisely what they want.
Our main gripes are with the balance employees and probably the bug fixing department, if one even exists here. Art, Music, etc are all great but when it just keeps consistently being that same department that can't pull their heads out of their asses you can see why a lot of people are volatile.

I feel like I'm moderating the THQ forums again. Everyone rejoiced when that company went under and was bought by 2K games. "Thank god! A competent developer who will listen to the fans!" they all screamed.
They say very different things today.
No, a lot of us are really wondering what actually goes on at this 600 Employee company. This is literally their only game but it's always going to be one thin thread being pulled to destroy it type deal. I honestly cannot see how their balance testing employees still have a job right now.

It'd be nice. Too bad they'll never actually be good.
