  • It's been absurd today. Probably been dodged 20 times today. Also a quick disconnect from a killer who apparently didn't like the map.

Devs need to step in pronto.
  • Fix pallets. They are very touchy and often times you're trading a hit with the killer. In which case the pallet was basically worthless. If you want less on the map to compensate for the killers, fine. But you shouldn't hit through the pallet and you shouldn't have to get all the way to the very end of the pallet to drop it.
  • I just hit them and let them go if I'm the killer, but as survivor I'll wait.
  • I'll dodge swf for shits and giggles now. I know how much of a pain it is for them to keep re-queueing up together over and over and over. It makes me giddy lol. Especially since everyone here bitches about it. Other than that the only thing I'm dodging is when I play survivor and the killer has insane pig or my team is 3 squadettes p3 with flashlights. I don't wanna play with that ######### cause I know what's gonna happen to my ass. I'm gonna get farmed. As a killer, like I said I'll just dodge some swf teams cause they look super sweaty and it makes me happy to make them get together in the lobby again :)

    You are soooo cooool. Damn.
  • I've been 4k all night as Fred boy at rank 1. Even against the dreaded SWF. So it's really not that big of a deal. Also, sometimes I lose, but it's a video game so who cares. Have fun. If you're not having fun, play something else.

  • I keep data because I'm a nerd. Since December 13th I've played survivor at a 3:1 ratio. I do not agree with your assessment that killers run up against more toxicity. But that is just my own experiences and bias that goes into that. In general people are toxic in online gaming/communities. It doesn't just stick to one side. Also, the survivor vs survivor toxicity is underrated at times as well.
  • Freddy can't truly die as long as somebody remembers him, so seems like he would be the winner.

I promise you that if SWF was taken out of the game, DBD would die.

You DO realize that for its first few months, there was no SWF and at some time survivors would lobby-dodge until they wound up in the same game as their friends? SWF was introduced to stop that. Until then, there was no SWF mode. The game was balanced around being isolated.

You do realize that there are about 10 more killers from when the game started and dozens more newer perks. There have also been multiple changes to some of the perks that existed at launch.

The balance of the game has been tweaked multiple times since launch and since SWF was added to the game.
  • Rank 1 Freddy/Myers/Doc here. There are definitely games that come up against SWF where I get trucked. It happens to me. It haplens to everyone.

That said, it doesn't happen to me every game. Most games I'm getting 2-3 kills. That seems balanced to me. Even on a 1k game I'm still likely going to more than likely black PIP, so who cares? As a killer I don't play for the 4k. I just want competitive games.

If you find yourself getting repeatedly trucked by SWF teams, then maybe you need to find a killer or loadout that works better for you.

If you're a killer that doesn't get trucked all the time by SWF, you just get annoyed on the occasions that it does happen, maybe you should just grow up a bit and realize that sometimes you're going to lose a game. And maybe be thankful that most games last about 8-10 minutes so it's not like you're stuck getting shat on for a half hour or more.

That's just my take. Admittedly I am a survivor main by about a 3:1 ratio. However, rank 1 at both with non-optimal killers (I play a lot).

Small game. Bloodpoint bonus would be nice. But more importantly it needs a totem counter like thrill of the hunt. No brainer.

What if you got a 20% postgame bloodpoint bonus in altruism and boldness for each totem you broke?

That would be cool. I would definitely use it as a solo survivor and just spend the early part of matches looking for totems. Need the totem counter to go along with it though.
  • Small game. Bloodpoint bonus would be nice. But more importantly it needs a totem counter like thrill of the hunt. No brainer.
  • Lol. You killers are so toxic. You act like survivors deserve to sit in lobbies for ages, because the game is designed a certain way. Grow up. It's a game.

    Have you tried playing killer?
    You get instant lobbies.

I do play killer. My daily was a survivor daily. Thanks for the "advice" though.
  • Most of these 6 dodges were insta. I'm not running any items. I'm running Ace with casual clothing on. It's just nuts how wimpy a lot of these killers are.
  • I think dodging SWF is cheese, but I understand why weaker players would want to do that. Dodging any lobby with a solo player is so lame.
  • At the very start of the event I had a 45 minute wait. At that point I just gave up and shoveled the driveway. Last night I joined a group and we played one 10 minute match in a span of an hour and 15 minutes. Then we just split off and I played some killer rounds. PS4 here. The waits have sucked.
  • My goal as a survivor is 12 points per game. My goal for killer is the same. I'd like to get 5 coins. I've already gotten two. I wish killers would lay off the ruin and mori's but I get it. When I run killer I use Freddy. I don't play any differently. My killer goal is to get my four BBQ stacks and after that anything else is just gravy. Same with this event. As survivor I'm definitely less altruistic and will hang on a generator a bit longer than usual.

Lobby times are outrageous though. Fack.

    just reverse the latest patch.
since you only get the points if YOU escape everyone just hides, and tries to go for the hatch. nobody saves you anymore because they dont want to lose their Vessel. its literally unplayable right now
it changed it from teamplay for the good of all survivors to selfish vessel camping and hiding while doing nothing just to get your own points which just makes this game even less fun than it already is.
reverse it and maybe lower it to 15 points but this right now is just ridiculous... you get rewarded for selfish behaviour and get punished for helping.

The event is very good! The lobby simulation received a patch that bugged it for a while, i used to enjoy the lobby for about 40 mins on average, now that it got bugged after the event release, survivors appear on my lobby like rain drops on a storm, i can even dodge the ones that i dont want to play agaisnt!

I wish this event had an unlimited duration so i could keep playing the game, but as soon as it ends, we'll probably go back to the lobby simulation again...

Yeah. The lobby times have been outrageous. They need to do something about matchmaking.
  • I'm not getting credit for all my points as a survivor. So not a fan really.
  • Honestly, I just want pallets to actually work.
  • Agreed. My least favorite killer. Boring matches. You win a chase and basically gave to let them catch up at some point. Stupid.

I'm ok with hatch closing mechanics. It's completely possible for the last Survivor to repair 2 or even 3 gens by themselves if they are a ninja master.

It's only possible because there is a hatch that some killers feel the need to guard.

With no hatch it's pretty easy to guard gens.
  • I had this happen the other day. Guy glitched himself on a rock. Slugged a couple of his buddies so he eventually came down. Eventually killed him. Later in the match one of his buddies tried doing the same glitch but couldn't quite do it. I was happy to send them a message of thanks along with an image of my adept trophy.

    Scrubs are gonna scrub.

While i dont mind the new chest spawn too much for most items its definately a problem that it can drop Skeleton Keys and Dull Keys. Both allow up to your entire team to leave the game early via hatch.

You can keep the new spawn rate if you want just make it so that chests CANT drop Skeleton Keys and Dull Keys. This is bullshit. Randomness/Luck that gives away free escapes. Skill gets entirely replaced via luck this shouldnt be the case.

Its worse enough that they exist but giving free escapes via luck frequently is just dumb.

Woah, are you telling me that there are chests that you open where you automatically escape? They need to fix this ASAP!
  • It simply doesn’t belong, as it’s:

    Not a measurement of skill
    Does not provide rewards
    Increased queue times
    Reduces connection quality

The current ranking system of Dead by Daylight is a hinderance to the overall quality of Dead by Daylight.

The system is more an assessment of time played than skillful play. The system increases queue times significantly, and in some cases indefinitely. And in its attempt to find a “balanced” match, it diminishes the connection quality in the process.

One could argue that Dead by Daylight would lose a sense of progression to it. However given that Rank 1 can be achieved within a few days, and that it resets on a very short monthly basis. There seems to be little reason to keep this system that’s actively deteriorating the game altogether.

Others would argue that it simply requires a rework. That it shouldn’t be removed just because it’s currently a poor system.

And if Dead by Daylight was aiming to be a competitive game, I’d be inclined to agree. But time and time again the community and Behavior have made it clear they want a more casual direction for the game. There’s nothing wrong with that, though if that is the intention then the ranking system serves as nothing else but shackles.

Amen. This game would be better off without it. No rewards other than pride. Any difference in ranks with SWF make it near impossible to get a killer. If it's a mismatch the game won't last long anyway so let it just be luck of the draw.
  • I'm on console, I run discordance. I want to put multiple people asleep. It works wonders. I consistently get 3/4k. My other perks are monitor, nurses, sloppy (or if I run a mori I throw on dying light).
  • I think they should give each survivor there 3 teachables as a base build and then 3 more of their choosing. That was each survivor actually is a little unique as well. Right now They're pretty much just skins, unlike killers who have unique powers.
  • Agreed. Especially with all of the disconnects I've had. Really enjoyed the game yesterday with 4 WGLF stacks, party streamers, numerous gens and chases. Got to the end game and boom. Blue screen.

    Reallllllly thought that was cool.
  • Honestly I think if you're the killer and you're 16 meters away, the hook timer should temporarily stop. Unless survivors are within 32 meters. We can nit pick a bit on measurements.

This would penalize campers except in cases where survivors are nearby waiting for the quick unhook.

It would also help hooked survivors who face hag or trapper. Often times by the time the hag or trapper is done setting traps in the area, so much hook progress has taken effect that you're almost certainly hitting phase 2 or death. Killers should absolutely be able to set traps near the hooked survivor. It just feels cheap when it's basically an indirect camp.

For killers with this scenario, you do get a buff in terms of if you're 16 meters or closer and you see the survivors hook progress dropping, well you would know that a survivor is near by. This could be particularly helpful with the BBQ nerf.

I'll come out and admit it. I'm a survivor main and this would more than likely benefit the survivors more than a killer so it's not a complete idea. But I think it would be a good start as opposed to automatic aura reading or gen penalties. That said, the number 1 complain survivors have is camping and anything the developers or entity can do to force the hand of the killer to at least give a possibility of an unhook would be nice.

Also, FYI this idea would only count for play before generators are complete. Once generators are complete the killer has every reason to not venture away from the hooked survivor. Maybe you could speed up the hook timer in that case. Or maybe the hook timer speeds up a bit based on killer distance away from the hook in general. Just tossing some ideas out there.
  • Survivor main here. They should definitely fix this. It's one of the few killer gripes I think are completely reasonable.
  • Lol. Even before this chapter I could count the amount of camping Bbq hillbillies on more than one hand. A camper doesn't need an excuse to camp. It's already in their nature to camp.

I honestly don't care or SWF was intended or not. It's been in the game for most of it's entirety and it's a current and very popular feature in the game. It's not going anywhere.

I'm one of the many players that abandoned F13 and migrated here. If SWF wasn't a feature, I wouldn't have bought this game. I main survivor because I like playing with friends. I do some solo survivor and killer matches. It's way more fun for me to play with my friends that include my wife, some real life friends, and online friends from F13.

My point is that this game wouldn't have near this level of popularity if SWF was not in the game. The developers are not idiots.

You realize that you can play KYF with friends aswell?

This whole "only SWF is fun, not KYF" leads me to the conclusion that in reality it's not about "having fun with friends". It's more about "making fun about the Killer - with friends".

If the majority of SWF simply cared about "having fun with friends" as they claim, there would be absolutely nothing that hinders them from using KYF. They don't care about bloodpoints, don't care about ranks, don't care about win/lose - they just want to have fun so what better opportunity can there be besides KYF?

I tell you what; The Killer is a friend and that's the main reason why no one touches KYF. That friend has to play Killer against you, which is gonna be annoying AF. They realize how unfun it is to play against you, start to fight about "whos turn is it now as Killer?!". I've been there. We all have been there. Survivor feels boring aswell because you're not allowed to excessively loop, flashlight blind, use DS ect. as that would trigger your friend. As Killer, you're not allowed to bring certain perks or add-ons as it would ruin the survivor-friends fun.

Soooo, where is the fun? There is no fun...
What's the solution? Let's go SWF and troll random killers!

....and then act all surprised and upset when you find out that this random Killer is tryharding against your SWF with voice communication that just "wants to have fun with friends".

This might not apply to you and many other SWFs but if you'd play some more Killer, you'd realize that MANY SWFs play SWF exactly for this reason.

I would play kyf if it gave bloodpoints.

Also, I play enough killer to R1, I just don't have thin skin. When playing against a good SWF that plays toxic, it can be annoying, but not so much that I feel helpless. Some games you get rolled, other games you 4k without any gens getting completed. It's a videogame. If you need conditions to be completely in your favor to have a good time, then that says more about you than it does the game.

Listen @ everyone who commented on my thread
I'm not saying I want SWF to be removed from the game, I'm saying that it should not be part of ranked gameplay.

The only reason people play SWF instead of KYF is that they get an unfair advantage in ranked play. It's cheating, more or less and everyone who plays SWF knows its unfair.

If you want to play with your friends, invite a 5th person and play KYF. Don't ruin the game for everyone else.
I want blood points though. Can't get them in KYF.

  • Great change. Killers cry about getting teabagged or looped or flashlights. What's really toxic is waiting for a lobby for 20 minutes only to get instadodged.

I'm definitely a survivor main, but I have hit R1 as a killer this last chapter. I don't dodge. Sometimes I get smoked. Othertimes I don't. It's a game. I would rather play it than sit in a loading screen.
  • Jason would be in better hands of BHVR instead of the crooks from Gun Media & illfonic

I hate this killer so much. For example, when you're running and when you least expect it you trip a phantasm trap. I swear I've almost had a heart attack from those. Especially when you have your sound up and a headset on..

I rather that than have a hag who puts all of her traps around a hooked survivor and then goes away for 10 seconds and then rushes back.

Yep. Basically every hag I come up against. I'm practically in phase 2 by the time they've placed their traps. Then you have to slowly creep away before healing and here she comes back to down you again. Worst killer on the game. Default proxy camper.
  • I think the hatch mechanic needs to be changed. Maybe if the survivor completes 2 full gens they get a Black Key that can "open the black locks on the event that 3 sacrifices have been made"
Then it means that the survivors that have done their jobs get a free escape because clearly the rest of their team mates didn't do much if you have managed to do 2 full gens.
I would say that instead of focusing on two gens for a survivor in order to gain a black key, I would say to break a totem and do half a gen.

That way the totems would actually be somewhat of a secondary objective. SWFs would be forced to actually communicate and drop what they're doing (to an extent) in order to make sure everyone has broken at least one totem.

As for completing two full gens. That's a lot of gen to have to complete, when in some matches you have ran the killer around or spent matches unhooking. If I waste 3 or 4 minutes of the killer's time by running or if I hop off of several gens to make saves or heal, why should I not have a crack at getting a key?
  • Even if it was just a 5 shard in crease per level that woukd be nice.

    Meaning:
devotion 0 level 50-100 give you 300 shards

Devotion 1 level 50-100 give you 305 shards

Devotion 2 gives you 310, etc.

It doesn't seem like much but that gives you an extra 5,000 shards each devotion level. That would be better than, "here's a new green number below you're level!'

  • I always see these type of things. What does and "S" grade stand for?
  • Lol at these salty killer mains. "I'm entitled to my 4k!". Down the survivor before you get to the hatch and you don't have to worry about a stand off.

Or do what I do if the survivor gets to the hatch first, hit them right away and enjoy the 300 blood points and move on to the next match.

Nothing cracks me up more than a killer shaking their head at me while I'm on top of the hatch. As if that's going to make me give up or something. Silly.

I think you should get a hex notification if you cleanse a totem. It would be nice to know NOED is in the game.

    That's my only major complaint.

I do think it's a crutch, but so are plenty of other killer and survivor perks and offerings.
Oh yes, as killer i would also like to get a notification of every survivor who has DS.
    So I can react accordingly.
Fwiw, I would be completely in favor of that too.
  • Killers have upped their toxicity since the last patch. That said, both sides are generally pretty toxic.
  • I tried gen tapping. It takes longer to do gen tap than just just repairing the normal way.

If an exploit is worse than the regular option, can it really be deemed an exploit?
