As a killer the only time I don't give af about bps is when survivors bring toolboxes.

Last time this happened to me was during a double bps. I put on a ebony Mori because they obviously didn't care about the double bps. All the survivors brought bps, with brand new parts. 3 gens were done by the time I hooked the first survivor. They got mad in the post game chat because I mori'd 2 of them and that 1 of them DC'd so the 4th 1 could escape through the hatch, saying they couldn't get any points.

Imo it goes both ways, but each side is too ignorant to notice what the other side is doing

Yes, both sides call the other OP, call for nerds, says the devs side with someone, etc

If everyone played both sides a bit I think that would take away a lot of the us vs them arguments

  • @mmain said:

You're absolutely right. I really don't get why this is so hard for most survivors to understand. I say it all the time though. IF, and that's a big if, even 50% of survivor would learn to play using anything resembling an intelligent strategy BHVR would have to make radical changes to this game to make it even close to balanced. I say that as a survivor main too.

Yep, I’m not even talking being GOOD at the game. Just playing intelligently and using basic strategy and common sense would result in 3-4 escapes every game. But you get these survivors who hide in a locker or crouch behind bushes whenever they hear the faintest heartbeat. Three minute chase against the killer and zero gens get done, then we still get owned by NOED at the end so they weren’t doing totems either... like #########

  • @HarryToeknuckles said:

If everyone ran Kindred, it would help, but there are always going to be those survivors that wait nearby doing nothing or that go for the unhook right in front of the killer. Kindred on every survivor should definitely be mandatory though.

Yep, I can definitely state Kindred base wouldn’t help lol... when I get hooked with kindred and camped I still see only one working a gen while the others hover around. I’m struggling for two minutes guys please make my hand cramping mean something!!!

  • I always thank anyone who brings BPS whether it’s the killer or a teammate, or the survivors when I’m killer. But I generally am not “farming,” it’s better for everyone to just play normally get good points in a normal time.

The exceptions are if the other team makes it clear they want to farm when in killer I will usually oblige. Like if they all run up to me at the start pointing and crouching at my feet, it’s clear they’re trying to farm okay.

Or as killer if I manage to down/hook everyone instantly, with Billy infectious for example, I will let them save each other at least once and do gens. There’s no point in everyone getting 1-4000 points. Especially if they brought multiple BPS

  • @EvilJoshy said:

We should probably put something in the loading screen.

"Survivor tip. If the killer isn't leaving someone on the hook, finish the generators and get out"

Right! Also just to make it clear, there are situations where camping may be correct most notably once gates open.

And killers who choose to camp that is up to them if they want, but again let’s not complain or whine about it just PUNISH it by leaving

  • @toxicmegg said:

killer mains would riot. oni is unfun af to play against now, but better not complain because survivors aren't allowed to share their opinions on this forum really if they don't match killer main opinions.. obviously this forum is full of whiny killer mains, who cry about the most random stuff and want to have everything as easy as possible and people are ok with that. but whenever someone says they think a killer is op or something, that's horrible and obviously a bait in killer mains opinion.

Someone is asking for a nerf, on maybe the 4th or 5th strongest killer atm, because they don’t understand how his power works.

Yes I very much agree. I think the way there are currently doing it where we are seeing lots of balance changes along with new content/reworks is probably the best way for them to do it. I hope they continue to rework maps as well. I would love to see coldwind or red woods reworked next.

I would too but I have a feeling the breakable walls may be a way to quickly bandaid the maps

    Well .. yeah?

98% of people who play Oni run the addon that lets him see survivors auras if they walk into their blood orbs. It's considered a very rare addon, I've come across one on every 2 or 3 bloodwebs until the level I have him at now (43).

Some guy above proved my point, he doesn't efficiently do it in 1-2 minutes, more like 10 seconds. Why heal against a killer that can 1. see you healing / walking around and 2. can down you instantly?

    smh 🤡🤡

Nobody runs that addon, it’s one of if not his worst

The cash cow is survivors. Doesn’t matter if gens go too fast as long as new Dwight skins are there to sell. Unfortunately they underestimated the reaction to the ruin nerf. It not only exposed the horrible imbalance but also exposed how fast killers will quit. The devs are stuck in the fact that without killers Q times will be long, but if survivors quit they cash gets cut off. In the end, it’s how long can the player base be strung along. I love how killers are dropping like flies and exposing the devs. At least we get to look forward to hidden ranks because that will increase the amount of killers playing. Lmfao

They definitely underestimated the backlash because of everything in a small period of time. This isn’t just about the ruin nerf, and the horribly survivor sided wording to it in their own “press release.”

It’s also about how killer sounds have been bugged for how long, but DS was bugged against Doctor and it was fixed in less than a week.

It’s about how Freddy was nerfed because he was unfun for survivors.

It isn’t killers overreacting to one thing, it’s just whatever each person is willing to take before they say “enough I’m done with this game,” or “I’m only playing survivor now.”

  • Heres the thing, either rank matters or it doesn’t... I don’t care which side you’re on but you ALWAYS have to be on that side.

Too many people (not saying you) will say rank is important and then later in that very same thread say it doesn’t matter because it suits their argument. It’s like arguing religion with people who quote the Bible but claim the part you quote is outdated.

@Peanits does play killer, I actually watch his streams and he's a pretty nasty Huntress.

He knows what he's saying and I know, it's hard to believe that due to past events, but the developers learned and are taking things slowly. 😁

Isn’t he like a purple rank killer/green rank killer? No offense but those survivors aren’t exactly operating at peak gen efficiency

My queues take 5-7 minutes like they have anytime there isn't new dlc or an event.

Notice the "enjoy your 30 minute queues" meme stopped a week or two after the Ruin nerf went live. It's because things went back to normal.

This game is going on 4 years old. If there's any reason for a drop in player base it's because the core gameplay experience has remained largely the same.

The core game play hasn't changed but players are getting better, as survivors and killers both get better the gap becomes quite large and in the survivors' favor. Ask anyone who has a lot of hours and is unbiased, a good team of 4 survivors whether SWF or solo that just goes and actually does gens will escape basically every game.

Cosmetic and bug fixes/balance are two completely different departments. These guys probably they don't know each other. So, working on skins does not delay bug fixes/reworks/balance department.

This is always the reply, and my reply to this reply is the people are different but the budget is the same. It's time to cut a couple people from cosmetics and hire more programmers.

Hard to have fun when you wait 30 minutes for a game.

Wait times are bad enough, why split it up further.

This may actually bring more killers, like someone said losing isn’t as bad if you have someone else to talk to or joke with about it after. Ole ty ofnpeople play SWF and don’t care if they win I bet a lot of people would do killers if they could screw around.

I've said we need a 2vsomething mode and the answer is always "well balance and blah blah" and splitting the community. I think things are bad enough as it is and we should just have it to have some fun which has been sorely lacking in this game for awhile. Redesign a few maps for 2v8. Add a few generatos extra and let us have a special mode for a week or something it doesnt even have to stay around forever.

Balance is a joke anyways, obviously bugs are a joke anyways, this ISNT a competitive game let us have fun with it

Didn't realize bugs were the only thing that mattered when deciding if games were good. Guess Skyrim and fallout are terrible games. Bugs can be fixed the main priority right now should be balance

you think balance is getting better... as a survivor games have never been more boring, played two solo games this morning both times team was rank 1-5 and killer was 3 once and 6 the other. Four escapes both times and against the 6 he managed two hooks the entire game.

  • @AshleyWB said:

No mither has the use of being in the injured state which activates injured only perks.

When it comes to who has the worst perks I think you have to look at who's perks are the most useless and meaningless. Imo it has to be Ace with Ash being a close second.

No mother means you are always one hit down, so let’s say you use Dead Hard to avoid one swing... that means the killer had to swing twice to down you.

Now how many times do they have to swing to down anyone else, that’s right twice. And the burst from that first hit gives you more distance that DH will, so David has to be the worst his perk is actually a hinderance. I would rather play me as a survivor with No perks.

  • Yes, did you? None of the most problematic bugs have been fixed. I still encountered silent slugged survivors, had a survivor “stuck,” on my shoulder so I couldn’t do anything meanwhile he was running around doing gens still. This doesn’t even address latency, hit box, whatever you wanna call that issue.

While we all wish that was possible, it's not realistic. The devs need money to keep the game running and the new chapters is a huge way that they do that. Cosmetics help but it's not enough. And of they keep the trend of mid chapter reworks then the game will gradually get better. Plus all the changes along with the new chapter is a huge step in the right direction.

How is the game gradually getting better, each killer and even the mid chapter patches are bringing in new bugs

  • @Aura_babyy said:

    No not really happening.

It's different teams working on different things.

The game can progress with the design team working on new chapters while another team does balancing etc etc.

I just don't get how they think it's effective or efficient to waste players time with broken lobbies, surely they should know their playerbase is dieing because of slow queue times and terrible balancing. The errors are what get me though, I shouldn't have to restart my game because my friend can't ready up or vice-versa. Heck if they're making us wait in lobbies they should pimp them out abit so we can have something cool to look at while we wait. We see a campfire...woo. Why not a fullblown survivor camp, tents, have all your charms you've unlocked on show, make it more customizable and fun for people.

Oh I think they know, but don’t care. They’re choosing the quick cash grab instead of the long term success of their game. I say it over and over, when DBD is done a handful of people will move on to great jobs and the rest will be left with this mess on their resume. Try applying to a “real,” game company and tell them the same bug lasted over a year but they should hire you to program their gsme.

  • Me too, but they’ll keep churning out money grabbing cash grabs til the game is done

  • @yoyofrost said:

They’re actually worried about a competitive game, yes they are SWF but that doesn’t mean they want to bully a yellow rank killer.

  • The emblem system is moronic, and even worse for some killers notably anyone with a one it and that includes Plague.

I play killer a lot, and speak up against the devs nerfing killers, and this is one of those cases. Toolboxes do MORE when it comes to repairs. They greatly increased the speed a toolbox repairs, and didn't decrease the charges the same amount - so you now get more progression from a toolbox than you did before. This has been tested numerous times by numerous people, including a lot of streamers.

Keeping items is extremely bad. You get one commodius toolbox every 4-5 wire spools, and I don't know how you have been doing your bloodwebs, but I can go through a couple to a few bloodweb pages after each match (assuming your doing level 50 pages of a P3 character). Obviously less pages if you played a survivor match, and more when you play a killer match.

Can you share one of these links, comparing time pre PTB and on PTB because the overall progress bonus should be less

If the dev's are smart they are going to be releasing this DLC late, after they fix EVERYTHING they broke balance wise with the Toolbox changes, Perks, and Keeping items after a match 🤨. Like i'm pretty the last of their killer's are just sitting here waiting - staring at the DLC, and ready to uninstall the second it comes out with any of these Survivor Buffs.

Though they already mentioned they don't plan to release the updated Hangman's Trick - which was probably the only balanced thing that came out with this update, but of course; It's in the Killers favor and makes the game easier for them. Therefore it's gots to go! The killer isn't allowed to have fun in this game.

I play killer a lot, and I speak up a lot against the devs nerfing killers but this is it not one of those cases. Toolboxes do LESS when it comes to repairs, the sabo change can be adjusted for and a tool box only sabos 2-4 hooks max now and they come back quickly.

The keeping items is meh, doesn’t affect the game play because most people can get enough blood points to use whatever they want anyways. If anything it makes it harder because the addons gets deleted, I used to be able to use a 40 charge medkit, use it twice and still keep it with all addons after the game.

Tell that to the survivors who suicide on first hook.

My point is that you say it's "just do better" and it isn't just "do better" because if the survivors know how to play correctly (and many do), they will just sit on generators and they will get them done and nothing the killer can do can possibly stop them in time, especially on the larger maps.

It's not a matter of skill. It's a matter of simple math.

Saying the game isn't over until it isn't over is a Strawman's argument. That's not the issue. It has absolutely nothing to do about kills or skills. It's about game pacing. DBDs game pacing sucks completely, and there's nothing a killer can do to slow it down against survivors who are hell-bent about doing generators; especially at the start, before the killer can even do anything within the first 30 seconds of the match, and the simple matter of the fact is that the killer loses 3/5ths of their within the first 2 minutes and for some killers that is a death sentence on survivors who are hell-bent on winning -- not ######### around with their rift challenge, or trying to bully the killer, or are just dumb in general. Only one who can do anything is Hill Billy and we already know he's getting an add-on nerf sooner or later and with how Nurses' "Add-on nerf" was handled, that makes me very concerned.

The fact a Killer who can move at double the default Killer movement speed who can at times, only just keep up with the pace of the game should highlight how bad the game pacing is. What the hell is someone like Myers, Clown, Trapper, or whoever else supposed to do?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1119621#Comment_1119621

You mean the "unicorn of games" that the Depip Squad got in over 95% of their matches -- when Ruin still existed? And now more than just Mother's Dwelling exists for "big giant map that takes 40 seconds to walk to"?

One group got it in almost all their games, I stand by my comment that the vast majority of DBD players still have gen-phobia even after Ruin is "gone."

I know what some of you are thinking: “Great, another thread about gen speeds!” But this is meant to explore a particular perk that everyone and their mother loves to run... Barbecue & Chilli (BBQ).

It may be safe to assume that BBQ & Chilli is one of the most used (if not the most used, especially after the Ruin nerf) killer perks in the game. In my experience I see this perk used by the killers I face a VERY HIGH percentage of the time (probably 3 out of every 4 matches). Why is this the case? The conditional aura reading that’s countered by lockers or being close to the survivor about to be hooked? In part, yes... but I feel like it’s those ever-tasty bonus bloodpoints (BPs). I get it, the grind is ridiculous and BPs are the currency that keeps your killer/survivor economy running. We need to unlock teachables, P3 everyone (if you’re into pointless bloody versions of default cosmetics), and stock up on items/addons. BUT - if we take out the BP factor from BBQ, what are you left with? Like I mentioned earlier, a conditional aura reading perk that lasts FOUR seconds does nothing to slow down gens (the point of my thread). Yes, you may get a good proc [code word for the perk activating] and see 3 survivors then pick your target; maybe it’s 2 survivors left and now you can secure the 4K... but during the critical portion of the match this perk is situational at best, especially on killers not named Freddy, Billy, Oni (if his power is up), Nurse and maybe Spirit. Other killers don’t have the speed/map control to utilize this perk effectively even with a good proc, yet I’ve run into Trappers and Hags that are running the perk. We all know why, but I’m pretty sure they’ll be the first to complain about gen speeds. But even with those killers I mentioned it’s better on, there are much better perk alternatives.

Thrilling Tremors is a better BBQ for gen stalling. “But Rey, there’s a cooldown!” Yes, there is... because otherwise this perk would be INSANE. It gives you immediate information of which gens (the survivor’s primary objective) are being repaired REGARDLESS of distance. Even if they let go of a gen, they are now forced to wait out those precious 16 seconds worth of gen time for you to hook your survivor and decide your next move. Pair it with Pop Goes The Weasel for maximum effect.

I won’t get into every gen-regression strategy/perk combos since there are quite a few. Corrupt Intervention + Dying Light (initial slowdown from CI while you build up DL); Sloppy + Thanataphobia (keep them injured and destroy their action speeds); etc. The point is, if you’re one of those killer mains that has an issue with gen speeds and still run BBQ, STOP RUNNING BBQ. There are perks designed to slow down gens and BBQ is not one of them, especially if you’re not good enough to capitalize when it does proc.

This is not meant to come off as me dictating how you should play or what perks to run. If you want to run BBQ (again, I see this perk probably 90% of matches I’m in) that’s your choice, but don’t complain about gen speeds.

    What are your thoughts??

~ Rey (equal Survivor player / Killer player who doesn’t use BBQ every match)

Plenty if high killers don’t run BBQ, doesn’t change gen speeds. Specifically with Tremors, okay you’re clown or another M1 killer and you see that all gens are blocked except the far one... tremors doesn’t help jack in this situation, by the time you wander over there the gen is done.

That’s the thing, the sound bug is completely random though and no doubt will be patched soon. As soon as the bug is fixed I’m willing to bet there will be a few more posts like this, she is still an extremely strong killer but it wouldn’t hurt to have an idea on when she is phasing other than one skin having shards that light up.

What makes you think it’ll be patched soon? They’ve actually had two “fix bug patches,” since it started and it hasn’t been addressed.

As someone said above, don’t even bring the cosmetic team into the conversation anymore, what they need is to hire BETTER tech people... note I didn’t say more I say BETTER

  • like someone said generally the morning of release, most likely next Tuesday? I hope!

Theyll nerf new Hangman range and make some vague statement about “fixing sound bugs,” that doesn’t really tell us anything. I don’t expect any other changes honestly

  • @Clevite said:

What changed is she is deaf now. You can't hear survivors even if they don't have Iron Will. Played with her the other day and thought all four had it and it was only 2. Also with the sound bug as is, can't hear a survivor that has been slugged. I had one on hook, go back to pick up the other one and no cries any where.

Spirit is a top tier killer that doesn't need any more nerfs. The window vault makes her much more loop-able than before. Her add-ons were nerfed. And if you know when to run and when to sneak away you can still lose her.

This, if it wasn’t for sound bugs she would still be very strong. Even as is I can still pick her up and against average teams dominate and compete against good ones.

I called Freddy "braindead" because I think he does have the lowest skill ceiling in the game, also I wanted to know how to counter him better so I asked, nothing wrong with it.

Instead of just trying to say that "I'm trying to be innocent" you actually tell me what about Freddy does require skill, it would be helpful and I could learn something new.

Also I don't know where did you found that Survivors are hard lmao.

You’re confusing skill ceiling and skill floor to be honest. His ceiling is higher than a lot of other killers. An amazing Freddy has a lot of options and little tricks that he can use compared to a killer like Bubba.

His floor means almost anyone can pick him up and do decently, that is something I think a lot of people would agree with you on. Simply spamming snares during a chase and teleporting to a gen someone is on by using BBQ/tremors/surveillance/discordance will give you fair results

couldn't you just do the same thing as docter tho making the game last 10,000 years

Yeah, not sure why @AhoyWolf is targeting Freddy with that comment. Any killer can stack gen slowdown perks... maybe you’re thinking of old forever Freddy but they nerfed the living daylights our of jump rope and chain.

If anything I would argue Doc or legion are better at the annoying slowdown stuff, legion forces mending and Doc snap out of it which they both have addons to make longer

That seems like that would require way too much work.

The all walls, I agree. That’s why I suggest the second option as a quick fix instead of waiting 3-6-12 months for certain maps to be reworked Judy remove the one “infinite,” from the trouble maps by putting a breakable wall.

It would be better if genspeed should be reduced for the time while someone is on the hook (By 20%). That would be awsome honestly.

As someone said this would encourage camping, also we already have dying light that punishes the other people when someone is hooked. I think punishing them person who gets caught is a nice option and reward the killer for hooking each person.

  • This kind of gets back to my OP, some sort of slowing for injured players should be base. I know the game isn’t “realistic,” but someone who’s been hooked through the shoulder, hit with a hatchet in the back, or is puking up constantly will not be working on something as efficiently as someone who is perfectly healthy.

and none of that matters because the game isn't over until the gates are open and the survivors have left/dead.

You can complain all you want about gens being done but gens being done also doesn't mean the match is over, too many whiny killers who see gens done and give up, it's boring, try a little harder.

This too, too many people see the first 2 gens pop and give up because what’s the point. I’ve had plenty of games where 2 gens pop quick and literally no more gens ever get done.

Sometimes two survivors hop in a gen at spawn, one hops on another with toolbox and BNP so of course those will pop quickly. Then as soon as you start hooking they panic and play much worse. Like I said above they start hiding in lockers way too long, or two players both go for one unhook while you chase another which means NOONE is doing a gen. And that cycle treats all game long so nothing else ever gets done.

When you find a way to make most killers able to walk across the larger maps in less than 40 seconds, you let me know.

Until then, if I take 40 seconds to walk from one corner of the map (which happens a lot), 15 seconds to down them from healthy to full (which is REALLY fast by the way), 15 seconds to do the wipe animation, pick them up, walk over to the hook, and hook them (about average), I got about 10~20 seconds to get to one of the 3 gens being worked on before 3 of them pop -- assuming none of the 3 survivors on the generators have hit a single great skill check, or are running toolboxes at all.

Yeah, totally skill related. Bad game design has absolutely nothing to do with it. /s

Meanwhile that 4th gen from the first survivor found is still 40~50% done because again, takes 40 seconds to walk across most damn maps. Especially as Huntress or this new Deathslinger killer. Entity help you if you're Myers, Trapper or Hag.

You’re describing the Unicorn of games, let’s compare this to 90% of the games I play... and in case rank will be your argument I am talking about playing as a rank 1/2 solo survivor and as a purple killer which means most of my games are against rank 1-5 survivors.

I can walk to a gen, no one there so check a second and chase someone there, down them in a “decent,” chase and hook them all while 1 or maybe 2 gens pop, sometimes none. Even red rank survivors are not these efficient gen-bots that finish games in under four minutes. They loot chests, cleanse totems, hide in lockers every time they hear a heartbeat, and so on.

People who claim every game is against four man SWF death squads that they have literally no chance against are just making excuses

That was kind of a rude comment, I guess you're really angry at me because I told that your main is "braindead".

I was saying that Freddy is the one Killer that is very low risk high reward, you don't even have to be decent at playing Killer to win as him, just slap on PGTW and other gen slowdown perks and roughly in 90% of games the gens will never get done.

You call his comment rude then say you don’t even have to be decent to win as him... irony much?

Secondly, even with Pop and his (nerfed) slowdown addons any decent team will still get gens done. Good survivors can still loop him for a bit by dropping pallets and abusing the fact that pallet vaults are always fast. When you tak about “brain dead 4K with 5 gens left,” type of games you’re playing rank 10 or lower, sorry to be that guy but those games aren’t happening in red ranks.

    I read your whole post.

Claiming Freddy is brain dead is incorrect.

He replied to your original post, you said Freddy requires zero skill for high reward. He explained specific skills that good freddy players have.

If anything, I think it would be good if survivors that get unhooked suffer an action speed debuff for like 60 or 80 seconds after they have been unhooked. It would slow down the game a little bit and would encourage the killer to not tunnel. However, I would suggest something like 15% maybe. They definitely shouldn't have a debuff for the entirety of the rest of the game, and the values you suggest are way too high in my opinion. 37.5% decreased action speed is just way too much.

I figured the numbers were wrong, just wanted to make it clear that your first hook should impact you more than your second to help discourage tunneling.

Also would you be more in favor of your idea of it last a minute with higher value or lasting all game with a much lower value?
