Not an improvement. I think thats the best solution actually. Nothing needs to be complicated to be good. For example If you ask me how good i am at playing guitar my dedication to that hobby would totally be the best factor you can judge how good i am at it.

Here’s the problem, there is a killer shortage right now so when that group of 4000 hour survivors can’t find a 4000 hour killer they’ll get the 500 hour killer... obviously numbers are just made up but you get my point.

Whether or not matchmaking “works,” is irrelevant if the player base from each side isn’t close to equal

  • Tried them before, only one triggered I guessed it was the one I had in first slot but I’m not wasting more to double check

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

I used to run that perk all the time until Kindred got buffed.

    Kindred>Spine Chill

My base two perks right now, insert a rotation of exhaustion perks and the last slot is Detective/WGLF/DS/BT based on how my day is going

  • End game collapse works fine as a way to avoid teams refusing to leave and bully or hide for 5-10 minutes when they have already won.

as killer I am happy enough for that no other changes are needed

  • @xCarrie said:

    nosir March 10th sadly. 😔

Goodness no, releasing on A Friday would be terrible because they’re off the weekend if anything bugs... it will

  • @kill_bill said:

if this was ur intention, well done. and who can blame the killers in times of games that take around 5 minutes to get all gens done....

Out of curiosity where did you get this number, because if it’s based in your games I would argue that I see it around half the time.

  • @Hoodied said:

They look really cool but, am I the only one that hits more great skillchecks when they are reverse than when they are normal?

    @MysticMusician said:

I "hit" great skill checks, but sometimes they just don't wanna count lol. Ones that shouldn't hit do, and ones that should hit blow up a generator in my face 3 times in a row. I like the reverse sometimes. Variety is cool.

The first reverse catches me, just like the first overcharge always catches me lol I’m bad... but yeah after that I can nail even if it switches from normal to reverse

I mean, yeah, current rank system sucks and does not help with that. But neither does what OP is doing.

And a combination of A and C for me. More C at the moment because I am currently NOT a good Survivor and am not really ready to square off against good Killers.

See I disagree, I think playing against me would be beneficial. I mean if it’s not your thing i understand but hear me out...

I don’t camp or tunnel so you’re getting 2-3 chases a game unless your team finishes and escapes before. and I’m an okay/good killer chasing but nowhere near as good as a lot of people I see or go against at red ranks.

So you get good experience, learn what works and doesn’t looping, and you get a pretty fair amount of BP

Then keep playing, and eventually you'll get out of rank 12, where this killer is. 🤷‍♀️

I dont see the problem. One wants to be chill and one wants to try their hardest. The "ranking" system is there to sort that out.

I do get what you mean TAG, I think, but if you got matched against me you would get some good practice in. I go "hard," for the opening of the game it's just once I have my two hooks per person I slack off because I also play survivor and I know those 5k escape points are a big deal especially if you're newer. This goes even more when I bring BPS or during double events, or both because that's 15k extra points I just let everyone have and I'm okay with that because I am mostly maxed.

  • @Galklife said:

i do it on killers too (mainly on wraith) with farm build: beast of prey, distressing, thrill, bbq

8 hook games without single kill (well maybe sometimes i will kill some piece of bastard that run infinite window or is using OoO) but aside from that i usually dont kill survs and im hanging around R10

slow games where i play as fair as possible, its so fun for me (and i doubt survs feel bad about not being tunneled/camped or playing vs wraith almost without perks)

Yeah, I know when I play survivor I don’t like to “farm,” but if a killer two hooked everyone then let us leave I’d be thrilled. I generally try to 2-hook people although sometimes I miscount especially if there are twins or I don’t notice they let someone go to second stage on first hook.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I understand it. Yea, sometimes I feel frustrated playing against a killer who can barely hook 3 times and lose to him 'cause of NOED.

Then I started using perks such as "Detective's Hunch" along with a map. Or my favorite one, "Small Game". There's no such thing as NOED in my games anymore. Also, I started using "Inner Strength". That's an incredible perk to use as solo player. I do my job cleaning the bones and also have a free heal.

I've seen many more killers using NOED since Ruin's ruin. But only against yellow and green rank killers. Purple and red rank killers seems to don't like it very much.

I'm fine with NOED. There's lots of counter play. And I don't see this "rewarding a bad killer" issue. Maybe rush gens is also a bad play and this give 'em the chance to turn the endgame in their favor.

This person said it well, if you’re only going to do gens and ignore everything else then you deserve NOED

This obsession with 100% fairness will doom this game. Dead by Daylight is the only game where everyone wants everything to be 10000% balanced in every conceivable way possible.

To agree with you and partially add my own view, the constant split between survivor and killer will be the end of this game.

  • @fcc2014 said:

Needs to justify to themselves how and why they use NOED.

They aren’t justifying themselves, they’re using a BHVR reply to do it. If you wish to disregard this that’s fine BUT then no more quoting BHVR posts that support your side either.

    @ClickyClicky said:

"If the killer has no luck in hooking many survivors before the doors are activated, then the survivors should have been able to cleanse totems without feeling pressure, thus, not giving the NOED edge to the killer. It's on them if it activates."

Someone obviously doesn't play much solo survivor. You can not stop the others from finishing the gens. There's no group decision to make sure all totems are cleansed. If you run around from the start getting all the totems you'll earn minimal points, and it's not even a good idea because you don't know if your team even has a chance at getting the gens done.

So run either a map or Detective Hunch and make sure you keep track of how many are left? Bonus, those are both useful even if the killer isn’t running NOED so you don’t have to worry you’re using a perk to counter something that may not be there.

  • @Toybasher said:

IMHO NOED is fine. I do think it can be "Abused" as a crutch but it can be countered by doing all the totems. Killer plays without a perk slot until the end. Survivors have plenty of 2nd chance perks. (Dead Hard for Distance can't be baited and it's basically a "Oh no I screwed up at this loop imma just DH for distance and get another loop out of ironworks god window etc." perk. DS is being flat-out abused as a godmode for 60 seconds perk.)

I feel like I'm the only one doing totems when I play survivor although I use Detective's Hunch. It's as if survivors are flying through gens as fast as possible without even attempting to do a single dull totem. They do that, they accept the risk the killer could possibly be running NOED.

This nails it exactly, if you’re going to “gen rush,” that is fine I mean it is the primary objective... but ignoring totems is a risky play

  • @BigTimeGamer said:

    “Main objective rushers”

    how dare survivors do gens!!

noed is whatever, but it’s a crutch and a half

No one is telling you not to do gens, they’re simply saying if you are sooo good then do totems too. If you and your team can loop at all it gives you plenty of time to do gens and totems to prevent NOED.

People who get salty about NOED are literally mad they can’t just hold M1 for 80 seconds a few times and escape, it means you or someone on your team had to have some chi side skill, the horror

  • @Toastyy said:

Here we go with another NOED post but I am a mostly killer main that will play survivor when mates are up for it and I do think that NOED is a crutch perk that rewards the killer for not applying enough pressure on the gens.

I know most people use NOED now because ruin isn’t the greatest anymore but I refuse to use NOED purely because I think the perk is unfair and that it’s a bad habit to allow such a perk to exist.

I’ve played survivor games before and see the killer get 5 gen’d then he gets a easy 4k because of NOED.

I know it can be countered by cleansing the totems but in a solo queue or even a duo queue it’s quite unlikely that you will be able to cleanse all of the totems.

I think that either we should be able to tell whether they have NOED sooner than finding out when you get smacked down and left on hook or make the killer actually work for the perk.

I’ll just reiterate what a bunch of people above me said, cleanse totems. If the killer is doing sooo poorly then you have time to do gens AND totems and still escape, no?

The people I see complain most about NOED are terrible at chases and are literally only able to hold M1 on gens and crank them out as quickly as possible which makes them feel like they are “better,” than the killer.

Its funny how a trashtalker claiming that im survivor main is triggered when i just called him out to have a survivor game against me and how his friends are all of sudden triggered as well. Its just a game relax. Dont be afraid of losing . Next time maybe you shouldnt even try to imply that someone is a survivor main if you re not sure and try to sound more like you d behave yourself after that person challenge you.

I’m just confused how he can have a game against you? Are going to play 1 vs 1, or you could play 4 vs 1 and tunnel him down, that wouldn’t prove anything... or if you lose you can always claim it’s because his team carried him?

Instead of insults or implying he’s insulting you how about replying to my actually question, how Exactly does he “play against you?” What will you consider a win or loss?

  • @Reborn2020 said:

No need to throw insults while himself saying :

Come back when you've played killer.

Then I might take you seriously. Might.

Your words are not non sense? Really?

I clearly made it obvious that i want you to face my killer if you doubt i play killer at all. And your words were as above. You re trashtalker.

Why do people call others out to play them? It’s not a 1 vs 1 game... so what are you going to do, play KYF against him and 3 people he groups with, then if you lose just claim “well they were SWF, how could I win?”

  • @Reborn2020 said:

Nurse,Huntress, Freddy, Hag, Wraith, Oni, Legion. Why would you want to be so killer biased? So basically all the killers. Maybe even Doc. Doc mains can correct me if im wrong.

Youre naming 110% killers, they need corrupt more than anyone except maybe trapper. If two survivors hop on a gen together there are plenty of mais that it will be completed before you can walk there literally

  • @Auron471 said:

Hear me out here. So kindred basekit, but with 8m killer aura reading (Which is not increased with open handed) would improve the solo queue survivor experience a great deal, and also bring solo queue survivors a tiny bit closer to that of a SWF. Then the game can be balanced with this added information in mind.

Then noed, minus the speed boost would also incentivise survivors to cleanse and find totems, which will slow gens down. Also since everyone knows noed is in play, just make the exposed status be revealed once the final gen is done (or give a totem counter). Thus no one is caught off guard by the presence of noed ,which is a major source of frustration with the perk, and the gens are slowed. Everyone wins!

    Actually both really good suggestions.

I do agree NOED can be needed sometimes with gen speed, so survivors knowing it’s there would have no excuse especially if there were counters. Which also means people could stop telling me “cleanse totems,” when as a solo I have no clue how many are left or if they’re all done.

Actually, the leaks were right in this case. People were counting on it for today because the ptb usually takes 2 weeks and then comes the release. I for one am happy that it's only next week, good thing I trusted the "leaks" :)

some sites gave the 3rd, I guess I should have said “people chose to believe the link that they wanted to,” but you’re right a lot of sites have the 10th as well it was close to a 50/50 split

  • @LiunUK said:

it's more the fact that they knew we expected the patch today as it has mostly always been 2 weeks after the ptb went live and did not tell us until less than 24 hrs and also the fact metacritic leaked the march 10 date and the devs still waited until the last second before confirming it some people have busy lives and schedule things around it i mean i would not be surprised if all the streamers and youtubers set there plans aside to get footage of the patch.

its nice that they have given us a date but they could have been a bit more punctual about it. we want them to communicate and tell us these things not give us nothing but silence, i miss the days when they would do a dev stream every week not once a month even if there was not much to talk about it made it feel like they were actually engaging with us

Maybe up until yesterday they still had hopes they could push it today?

With how bad MM is any killers will help queue times.

You can use BP from playing survivor to level a killer, not that it matters because killer is basically a free 4K and easy bloodpijnts according to these forums

That is a good thing that they are delaying it as more bugs are being fixed, along with more balancing to the killers perks and survivor perks.

And I do remember that they said to not follow patterns, as these patterns can change

People see leaks, people get told repeatedly not to believe leaks, people get mad when BHVR doesn’t match leaks... repeat in any game or any industry for that matter

Well the stats will never show those kind of escapes rates, they never have, across all the times they've shown them, there is some accuracy to it, KILLERS just don't like it because it shows they're less opressed than they make out to be.

Killer isn't hard anymore, but they sure as hell will act like it is. :)

    @Kalec84 said:

Funny hiw im talking basically about killer stopping playing the game and ppl go on with "stats says killer win 70% of the time!"

Than switch killer and help making the lobby for survivor last less, is easy 4k anyway.

  • @darktrix said:

There's no law forcing you to subject yourself to humiliation by toxic survivors. You don't have to be afk per se - go around the map and take in the sights. There's actually quite a bit of detail to look at especially with the new maps. Gens will be done soon enough and they'll get the hint when you ignore them. If they persist well you can practice chasing that one (and only one - the rest of them can find their own evader points) and just munch pallets for awhile. If you are a stealth killer play a game of hide and seek...but without the seeking.

When the gens are done, opening the gates is also your choice - then a few more minutes go by and the survivors just enjoyed themselves a nice gen simulator. You can even play a mini game of finding the hatch and get ready to close it at the very end.

I like to practice learning loops even if I am not chasing anyone. I also like testing out killers like aiming with Huntress or learning Nurse distances, if DBD had a practice mode I could do that but they have never implemented it much to my dismay. And no KYF doesn't count because I work night shift and my friends work basically 9-5 jobs so if I want to practice I'm solo.

Well... DC is reportable as well so... bad if you do and bad if you don't do. I guess.

I don't DC or suicide but if, let's say there are no teammate who is going to save me or try to in a minute then I am not going to spend another minute just to check if someone wants to save me. It's just 900 BP. And yes, the situation where I waited 2 mins at hook with no one trying to save me happended to me so I'ld rather move on.

If I'm on first hook and people are searching chests right near me or cleansing totems right near me then I'll try to escape myself. I understand the rescue doesn't have to be immediate but if you want to get points before me then I'll move on.

  • @Mister_xD said:

but killer cant go afk? they are forced to play against a toxic 4 toolbox survivor team ? that cant be true. just another example how surviver sided the game is....

i want fair matches, show respekt, dont genrush, do your thing and stop bullying killer with teabagging and flashligh clicking. it´s not a nice playstyle. if the survivors do that i started to go afk without giving them chase-points and open the exitgate. until the endgame collapse force them to leave.

There are 2 things that I think are very wrong in his statement, which is why I said what I said:

    • He ruins other people's experience with the intention to improve his own: 1. He consistently AFKs in order to de-rank, forcing people to wait in long lobbies only to get into a game with no killer; 2. If he needs to consistently de-rank, that means that he consistently ranks up from the games that he actually plays. I agree that the rank system is not good at measuring skill, but if you consistently rank up, that's still the game telling you that you should be playing against stronger opponents.
    • Matchmaking is a joke, I completely agree - at rank 13 as killer you face the same survivors you would at rank 1 (My killer was de-ranked from red to green this season and I saw absolutely no difference between the survivors I faced initially at green ranks and the ones im currently facing at rank 1, furthermore at rank 1 as survivor I consistently face rank 13-15 killers with the odd red rank once in a blue moon). Essentially if he's experiencing the same issues with unbalanced matchmaking, this makes what he does even worse - he's just ruining other people's experience without any benefit to himself.

I don't respect this sort of behaviour and I had to express my displeasure at what he does.

So survivors love having the advantage, and again if anyone wants to debate this I will, and enjoy teabag at exit gates, pallets or just clicky clicky flashlight but then complain that their queue times are longer because killers are quitting and when they do get a game the killer doesn’t play their way... and by their way I mean AFK is wrong, camp is wrong, tunnel is wrong, etc.

Now, killers shouldn’t be triggered by clicky clicky it’s just a mind game BUT that is part of the game we have to accept as killers and as survivors we have to accept sometimes the killer doesn’t wanna play our way. If they AFK I do gens, totems, and get chase points unless they’re wraith

And by fairer you mean matches against people below your skill level that you can stomp easily without putting in much effort? To top it off you achieve this by ruining dozens of games for people who just waited 10+ minutes to get a lobby? Great job! 🙏

Here’s the thing, and you can argue this, but the way the game is balanced right now at red ranks survivors have an advantage so a red rank killer who deranked to play against purple or green survivors may be in the “sweet spot,” for a fair game.

Not defending it as the right thing to do, but if the Devs won’t fix balanace then players do it their own workaround way

Yeah I completely agree, and pretty much what I meant with my initial post.

There's nothing wrong about playing in potentially annoying ways to win, but then a player really shouldn't be complaining when their opponent does the same thing. In the end it all comes back to the good old "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" line of thinking.

I guess the assymetrical nature of the game makes it harder to have a mindset like this because it's not like if some "tryhard" on the other team is using the OP gun of the current patch you can just use it yourself to even the playing field.

Right! And the other thing is you can find other players on chat or on forums that agree and justify what you’re doing. I always compare it to arguments about the Bible, people quote verses left and right to support their views but when someone counters with a bible verse then they claim that verse is outdated lol

How would this be addressed? A few passive buffs for killers dealing with 2+ SWF? Maybe applied to their hook charms? Dunno about the other platforms but on xbox the voice chat is entirely separate from the game being played, and I believe one of Microsoft's rules about game design is they cannot interfere with those chats at all, so the devs prolly cannot block it. What would work?

My solution would be to make kindred/bond/empathy/better together base kit so you know where your teammates are like comms would allow.

Then since all survivors have this knowledge of who’s working gens, being chased and who’s making a save you can drop the hook stages a bit like to 45 seconds. Camping still would work because all three other players could keep doing gens and make a last minute BT save

Haven't whined at all mate, just stating facts. If you don't like it that's your perogative. Until I'm notified by the devs that I'm doing the wrong thing then I'll continue to do so. BTW I'm a FTP player not one that has spent a truckload on the game & I am relatively new to it. I've made it out more often than not so.......

There's this something called THE REPORT SYSTEM that's very useful for getting players who don't participate in normal gameplay (Griefing) to receive their punishment.

However, this doesn't apply to late-game suicides according to Peanits:

Good to know, I guess we can start reporting first hook sui and see where it goes.

I almost feel bad for anyone who thinks GF is OP, but like you said you’re new and most likely not long for this game so I won’t miss you

I get what you mean, and I guess it's my past experiences that has made me end up with this mindset. While I don't do that much of it nowadays I used to play a lot of different games in a very competitive manner, where my sort of mindset was fairly common. I and others played to win first and foremost, and the fun came from playing against others that did the same thing. Of course those games might've been more balanced to begin with, but the mindset has really stuck with me ever since.

And the difference between using stuff like god windows and the like and actually exploiting (as in using something not working as described) or straight up cheating is that one is within the rules of the game and the other quite simply isn't. Cheating is completely black/white, if the devs/EAC might punish someone for it, that is not acceptable behavior. Otherwise it's fair game no matter how annoying it is.

Exploits are in pretty much every example I can think of things that are not working as intended and/or described as well. Legion blade addons weren't supposed to repeatedly stack until mending takes 4 minutes. You weren't supposed to be able to trap the killer indefinitely if he lands on your head in a specific part of the map, because normally players are supposed to "slide" off eachother when they land on top of eachother. That sort of thing.

I think it comes back to the gentleman agreement, you either have to agree to it for both sides or not. Either way is fine.

If you wanna run DS and use the broken buildings all the time that is part of the game. But then you can’t complain about slugging, tunneling or camping because those are also within the rules of the game.

Likewise for camping killers, if that’s how you choose to get your kills that’s fine but again you don’t get to complain about a team making an endgame save with BT and call it a cheap perk.

The problem is when someone from either side wants the other to play by the unwritten rules but they don’t want to do the same.
