Why would the demogorgon care about hooking people for the entity?

I don't know much about his background, but he is an intelligent creature, so I imagine that he could be convinced in some way. Spiders, don't have brains like people do. They have clusters of nerve cellls that allow them to perform various spider functions, but they don't think, they work on instinct.

  • LOL OK. Gotcha. An unranked mode. For some reason, when you said "rankless", i thought you meant players of any rank could be in the game, because you wanted it more random. I got you now. :) It would also be nice if they could add a practice mode. There's only so much you can practice inside the tutorial.

  • @freddymybae said:

i really want to play rankless so i can play with diffrent killers plus i want to let my mum wanna play the game as well

I'm confused, how would a rankless mode make the game fun for your mum? That would mean that she could be facing player with thousands of hours played. i can't imagine that being fun for her, or you.

2018 Michael had an innocent kid get killed by Michael. Not bullied.

Again, I said "MOST" and I also used the word "USUALLY". Mentioning one or two movies does not change the fact that the vast majority don't. Even some TV shows have started doing it for the surprise value, but most won't touch that type of thing, and they wouldn't do it as a staple.

Putting it into a video game where people are killing them over and over again, and hanging them on hooks, would be a PR nightmare. Especially when you start getting content creators making a meme out of it.

You can't know how bad they are until you read them. Since OP says he likes bait posts, he wants to read them. It's just a matter of quality.

I, however, prefer to ignore them, good quality, or not. :)

I'm not buffing the perk. I'm buffing the aura reading that Survivors have in the base kit

You realize that's worse, right? The game was designed so there was no communication between players, and they had to rely on perks. SWF teams can skip the perks, but your plan would give them the perk (base kit) bonus to SWF teams as well. Plus, it's the killers that are negatively impacted by the SWF teams, not the solo players. This would just make things even worse for killers.

  • That's why I said "most". I know that there are movies that do, but most do not. That's why I hate it when i see kids in horror movies. They try to create drama around the kid getting killed, but you know it's not going to happen, so the drama falls flat.

Now, Stephen King will kill anyone, including kids. You never know what to expect from him.

  • Nah. The perk was designed with solo players in mind. There's no need for it to be buffed, and SWF groups don't usually even bother with aura reading perks, since they can just tell each other what's going on.

  • The real question is "Why would anyone WANT to kill kids in the game?". Most horror movies don't kill kids, and even in the movies where teens get killed, they are usually played by older actors. Video games have been avoiding killing kids in games forever. Sure, there are some, but it's not worth the controversy. Not to mention, all of the content creators would likely get their stuff demonetized or removed. All would be bad for the game.

yet another AGKing Wraith refusing to play the game so you down pip and wait in lobby’s for 25 minutes no reason at all. This needs fixed. If Wraith doesn’t move for so long then need to automatically uncloak or something to fix this. Ridiculous to wait in Libby’s for 25 minutes to not be able to play a real match.

Decloak them with a flashlight. Even if no one brought one, there is often one in a chest. Then you can blind them with it for extra points. Pass it around so everyone gets some. Plus proximity (boldness points).

Not a perfect solution, but ya work with what ya got. :)

People already disconnect to mess with other people's fun.

They disconnect for their own reasons, they just don't care about other people's fun. It makes things more difficult, but it doesn't end the game and make you have to wait in another long queue.

  • @Khar said:

If it's a disconnect, I'd rather the match just end there. Pips set to black at least, acquired bloodpoints saved, and onto a new game because the rest of that one would just be a pain.

No way. People would just be disconnecting to mess with other people's fun. No one should have the power to stop the game.

If they could implement bots, like they did on the mobile version, that could help. Wouldn't count on that anytime soon, though. It would probably require redoing all of the maps.

  • I wouldn't really count on that to help. They are going to hide the new MMR system, so we can't see if it is actually working. That is never a good sign. They are then going to lets us see the current ranking system ranks, which will be meaningless, but are going to be there for "bragging rights". What's there to brag about if it isn't the true ranking.

Also, their goal is to try and make it as fair as possible while getting you into a match as soon as possible. Ultimately, if the problem with queue times is with a shortage of killers, as most suspect, then killers will face the same situations of being matched with survivors that are much more experienced than they are. The difference will be, because the ratings will be hidden, that you won't be able to post screen shots proving that matchmaking isn't working.

I hate being cynical, but some of the things the devs have said and done recently leaves me skeptical...and hiding the ratings doesn't help my faith in what they will be doing.

  • Hope you reported it.

  • Just came back from a couple of months off. Have not played killer since about a month before that. Too much stress, then you have to deal with all of the toxic survivor BS. Not saying all survivors are toxic, by any means, but the ones that are more than make up for those that aren't. The horrendous matchmaking just makes it all worse.

I started as a survivor main, then started playing about 50/50. Lately i have only been playing survivor, again. Much less stressful. Eventually I would like to get back to 50/50. We'll see how it goes. Without some major effort to balance the game, this will likely just be a game i only come back to now and then.

Massively. Can’t play survivor anymore as its always the same #########. Killer gets hook, sits around hook and wins. No effort required.

Blame it on the survivors if you want but either way its the same result.

Meanwhile if you’re the first one chased thats it. You’ll never get away from the hook. You’ll be tunneled the moment you’re unhooked in almost every single game.

Killers constanty running their most oppressive builds too and moris in like a third of all games vs team of random solos with no items. Why so tryhard?

It was just depressing. Having to sweat your ass off every game and never managing to escape as people just dived at the Deathslinger camping the hook. If by some miracle you did get the gens done then hears NOED to screw you over because apparently nobody else could do a single totem.

Maybe once the update hits killer might be worth a try but before that it was just survivors running to the same god loops over and over and over again every game then having a massive ego about how good they are because they could vault ironworks, run around and vault it again. So skilful..

The killer can't win, sitting around the hook. Most he should get from that is that single survivor...unless they suicide or DC. I know that it happens, but it sure isn't the norm. The only time it works is at yellow ranks, when survivors stop everything to try and rescue the person being camped. While that is, partly, on the survivors, it is still a slimy way to play. It's not typical killer behavior, though.

They all don't kill me, as soon as someone gets hooked though, bring on the antics!

I wasn't really talking about the death. I was referring to the hyperbole. Whenever anyone says that ALL of any character are toxic, then it's likely that they are redefining the meaning to they were just doing something you don't like....or that ALL just means one or two.

While I don't particularly like playing against Ghostface, I have not met one that was being toxic.

  • Killers already have differences. Giving buffs to their ability doesn't make them any more different from other killers than their ability already does.

Even the stuff mentioned for survivors are just perks. If they wanted to go that route, they wouldn't have made perks teachable to begin with. If you want them to feel individual, just don't take teachable perks and play characters with their own perks.

  • Just because they kill you doesn't make them toxic.

  • I figured console players can just go play the mobile version. Basically the same thing, right? 😛

Sooo kidding. I assume that whatever makes it to the PC would also make it to the console. But, yes, definitely, the improvements should go to the consoles too. 😁

  • I think there would be too much they would have to rework for that. Plus it wouldn't really fit with the lore. Why would a spider care about sacrificing people the Entity? I think it would just web them up and save them for food. How would a wolf hang people on hooks? I get that it COULD be done, with reworks, but that development time would be better spent elsewhere.

  • I like the map, in concept. I really like it as a survivor, not so much as a killer. Some killers obviously have it worse than others, but I think it's not good for any killer, and it really sucks for new killers. Glad they are reworking maps.

  • @Boss said:

Playing on mobile still sucks to me though, no mobile game can address that.

Good for you that you enjoy it!

I'm even jealous mobile's got bots.

But nah, not worth it to me to start a mobile save.

Well, I think the better idea would be to bring some of the improvements over to PC.

My limit to flashlights was 2 anymore and im out.

I rarely dodge now. But I still avoid too many flashlights. This is on ps4 BTW

    @Pigforever said:

Why not just bring Franklin's Demise when you see those things. Making them drop their items is quite satisfying, and it makes them waste time running back to find their items. Sometimes you can get extra kills becasue they are so worried about getting their items back that they get extremely careless. :)

  • Survivors should gain BP faster, but rank slower. Right now, the BP is not really enough, especially since the bloodweb is not optimized very well (that's true for both sides).

Survivors should get more BP for being on the hook, even more during the struggle phase. They should get a good amount of BP for recovering while slugged. Not only would this give more BP it would encourage people to not suicide or DC while on the hook and to recover so they are ready when a teammate comes to pick them up. Something a lot of survivors can't seem to remember to do, but tie it to extra BP and I'm sure they will suddenly remember. Safe rescues should be rewarded more, and unsafe rescues should be punished more. etc...

That said, these contributions should not affect advancement, and some that currently do, should be reduced. Survivors rank faster than their actual skill dictates. They should be put more on par with killer ranking. Slower, not killer ranking increased. Many survivors, myself included, don't deserve their rank. Which is fine, people should be playing at the rank they deserve. But their BP should be increased allowing them to increase their builds at a decent rate.

  • Right, then there will be a ton of survivor perks that killers think should be modified in a similar way.

Seriously, what is the point, to make the game as effortless as possible? It takes something like 15 seconds to cleanse a totem, and you get decent BP for it. It you are too lazy to cleanse totems, then deal with NOED. It's your choice.

  • Sorry, but i think i am missing something. What takes 70 seconds? Is that the time to cleanse all totems? I don't see that as being a big issue if everybody does it. The 15 seconds or so it takes to cleanse a totem, is not that big of an impact on any one person, especially for the ones you run across normally as you run around.

Trying to cleanse after it is already active would, imo, be far more dangerous as you will have to search for it while the killer has the benefit of NOED. With it only taking 70 seconds to do a gen, less with toolboxes and/or others helping. I don't see that time as a big loss, as it can easily be made up. I wouldn't go out of my way searching though. But, so many are out in the open and using perks that detect them makes it pretty easy to find them along the way to wherever you are going.

Not saying it's the wrong way to go. Sometimes the situation dictates the best approach.

Also, thank you for letting me know about the specifications of this forum. I'll be careful from now on.

FYI, he wasn't telling you that this was the wrong place to post. He mentioned it to let you know to not expect a response from the devs. They occasionally pop in here, but it is rare. This forum is a place to get quick answers from other players.

Unfortunately, the answer is that the matchmaking system is not working properly. The devs are aware of it, and are supposedly looking at the data, but there is no time-frame for when it might get fixed. :(

I posted a similar question here a few months ago. Nothing has changed since then, other than they said they are starting to look at the data, whatever that means. It's strange because on PC it seems to place newer killers with low rank survivors, but I've seen post from console players where rank 1 killers are facing new survivors.

  • @Godot said:

    What are your suggestions?

I personally think Kindred for survivors and maybe Ruin for killers? It would be logical that if the survivor gets off the generator swiftly as the killer is there, the survivor makes a quick screw-up with the wires and can't exactly focus on the generator while the killer chases them. This doesn't mean the killer can't kick generators anymore, because if Ruin was turned into base-kit, then generator regression should likely be buffed too. Do keep in mind, generators that are left alone don't regress because the killer isn't disturbing the survivors. This is also why 3-genning would likely be even more dangerous for survivors.

Everyone talks about how the new Ruin sucks, but they don't talk about how it could be turned into an interesting map pressure base-kit mechanic that isn't bound to a Hex totem.

    But that's just my opinion!

What are your ideas for basekit perks?

"Everyone talks about how the new Ruin sucks, but they don't talk about how it could be turned into an interesting map pressure base-kit mechanic that isn't bound to a Hex totem."

There was plenty of talked about how it could be improved, while it was still on the test server, but the devs disregarded it all and claimed that it was too powerful, in its new form, to not be a hex. Any talk of making it not reliant on a totem was shut down. Even talk of hiding the totems better was ignored. I think that it is clear to everyone, by now, that it is in no way too powerful to not be a hex, but I don't see them admitting that they were wrong and changing their mind.

That´s right. But i just hate survivors that cry about killer perks like idk Huntress lullaby or sloppy butcher, but then use those disgusting crutch perks(adrenaline yes i think so, mettle of man, and so on)

I agree. It's very hypocritical, but debating that point with people like that will fall on deaf ears, and only fuel the fire. You will never change their mind, and it just gives them more opportunity to sling more insults. Just ignore them, and report them for abuse.

  • @FireHazard said:

    @illusion

It should be noted that when you activate Head-On by holding shift and than pressing space, the hit-box for the stun will linger for as long as the animation is playing. So if you time it right, you can actually stun the Killer, even if they're several feet away from the stun itself.

Think of the hitbox as a square that's about 2-3 meters from the locker itself (probably more like 5-6-7), if the Killer is in that range than you can stun them with good timing, regardless if they're running past the locker or not.

This wasn't what you asked, but I thought it was worth noting in-case you try to pull off some crazy stuns with this perk. The perk is pretty fun to use, so i'd recommend using it with another perk called Quick and Quiet. Quick and Quiet will mask the auditory notification you make when you quickly enter a locker. It can only be used once though, than it goes into a cool-down afterwards. FYI, Quick and Quiet is a Meg perk.

No, not what I asked, but definitely what I needed to know.

I don't have a lot of perks on Jane, yet, but Quick & Quiet is one of them. I initially thought that wouldn't be necessary, since you would want them to come near the locker. But, as I have noticed, if they check to quickly HO doesn't have a chance to activate. It's also better to surprise them, so I will be running with Q&Q now.

I also had no idea on the range. I was wondering how close they had to be and how closely I had to time it.

    Thanks a lot. :D

  • @Keezo said:

simply hold the run button & press space(you can enter the locker normally, just have to leave quickly)

    Thanks. :D

Since trial and error has been getting me hooked, it was getting a little frustrating. :)

  • All that you can do to reduce toxicity is to ignore it, and be as nice to other people as possible. Don't even bother trying to explain yourself to people that are toxic like that. You will never get through to them, and they will get satisfaction just from getting a reaction from you. Don't give it to them.

Btw, killer choice, perks, or addons are not toxic. They may not like them, but they are part of the game. They got beat and can't blame themselves so they have to blame something/someone else. It can't be their fault. :p

  • You know how to counter it, but you don't want to, so it should be removed from the game? That's a ridiculous reason. There are 4 survivors. If everyone did it, it wouldn't be that big of a strain, and you have a lot more time on your hands after the ruin nerf. So, cleanse, or not, it's up to you, but don't ask for nerfs because you're lazy.

  • Report them and then forget about it. The worst thing you can do is give them any attention, at all. Just know they are lashing out because they have low self esteem. They did poorly and need to lash out and put the blame on someone else. It wasn't even a good insult.

Don't let the toxic people get to you. I don't play on Playstation, so i don't know what options you have for ignoring people, but if you have an option to ignore other players, you might want to use it.

It does matter now, if someone is the Obsession it at least tells the killer "Someone might be running DS."

So the killer might play it more safely, might slug, might leave the person who got off the hook.

If you play survivor, you'll notice most games with no obsession the killer tunnels hardcore.

If you have an obsession, the killer is a bit more careful or might just tunnel like an idiot, but you'll notice some killers play a lot more careful when there is an obsession. ( I know I do, I don't tunnel regardless but I am a lot more careful)

My point was that you can't tell WHO has DS based on who has the obsession. Also, most killers, these days, assume that everyone is running DS, because it is one of the most run perks. You have no way of knowing who has it, so you have to assume everyone has it.

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

No, it wasn't a buff it was a nerf.

The problem wasn't the person that had Decisive Strike, you could have dribbled them to the hook.

The problem was the other 3 Decisive Strikes that you didn't see because they weren't the obsession. There was no telling who had it, and imagine getting to a hook and getting DS'ed and losing all your momentum after that.

THIS time around you at least have an idea on who has it IF there is an obsession, and THIS time around there is an actual time limit.

Back in the day, it was unlimited amount of time. Imagine 4 Decisive Strikes in End Game with no time limit.

That's why old DS was awful.

Not disagreeing with your assessment of old vs new DS, but having an obsession is just about irrelevant these days in determining who has DS. Most low tier survivors run DS and some will deliberately run an obsession perk.

Still, the OP has a point. DS is more than just an anti-tunneling tool that is was supposed to be.

  • I thought you did lose bloodpoints when staying in close proximity to a hooked player.

The whole camping/tunneling debate is murky. Some survivors say a killer is camping or tunneling when they aren't. Most camping is done when low skill survivors just blindly go for rescues. This is also what leads to a lot of the tunneling because the rescue was not a safe one and the killer simply goes after an injured target.

Face-camping is a different issue. I see a lot of people claiming that it happens all of the time, but I have never been face-camped, so I don't believe that it happens nearly as frequently as some people claim. I have had my hook camped several times by killers hoping to get easy downs on rescuers, but that is not the same thing. Plus, I always run Kindred. I think camping is lazy and stupid. It is a horrible strategy against even mildly decent survivors.

That said, as a killer, i have been accused of camping and/or tunneling, when i did neither. I always leave the area of the hook immediately, but if scratch marks lead me back to the hook, that is not my problem. If your teammates go for an unsafe unhook, blame them, not the killer.

If the killer is face-camping, they are doing it for other reasons than bloodpoints, so they likely don't care about penalties. Other campers can be made to pay my not going for careless rescue attempts and finish the gens. Eventually they will learn that it is a bad strategy.

I do think that they should give hooked survivors more bloodpoints for staying on the hook and not suiciding or DC'ing. While they are not contributing enough to modify their rank points, they are still contributing to the team by distracting the killer for a prolonged period of time.

This game wasn't like that, they were clearly griefing, even had the Pebble perk to create noise and confuse the killer.

They stayed most of the time, from game start, to end game, hidden. Saved me once, then gave up cause I was the only one doing gen, since my 4th teammate killed themself.

I honestly want justice for this killer, after 45 minutes I would have disconnected as well tbh. Also one of the survivor was a rank 4 and the other 9 (clearly not new players)

So yeah, if anyone know how to send proof or do something about it, pls tell me cause I never did this.

OK, yeah, that sounds like hostage taking to me. I seriously don't get what anyone would find fun about doing that.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

Plus what would you do with the people while disconnected?

If it's a killer, do the survivors just get X amount of time to freely do whatever they want? Does the game grind to a halt and everyone just sits there hoping the killer shows back up (and does the game just start back up so hope you're ready as soon as they reconnect, especially if you were in the middle of running away)?

If it's the survivor, do they just disappear? What if it's in the middle of a chase and now they get away for free (either because they had bad luck with a connection or decided to do their own quick disconnect/reconnect)? If they don't disappear, what happens to them during the struggle phase on the hook or when the person gets unhooked?

Bots. The mobile version has bots that take over until the player returns. The have similar things in other games, like Heroes of the Storm. The bots don't play as well as a player would, so it would not be an advantage for someone to deliberately disconnect.

  • Maybe if they reworked the bloodweb, even more, so that you can get the perks you want/need quicker without wasting BP's buying perks and items that you will never use.

  • I think it's impossible to say if they were taking the game hostage or were just newer players who were scared and trying to survive.

I was in one game, as a survivor, and one of the other survivors stayed in the basement for most of the game. He had mentioned in the pregame chat that he was getting killed a lot and didn't want to get killed that game. i assumed that he was going to play safer, but apparently he thought hiding was the way to go.

To be fair, he did come out a few times to unhook people, but then went back to the basement to hide. Unfortunately for him, when I, the only other survivor left, got hooked the killer knew exactly where he was.

  • I imagine that he is better when playing against less skilled survivors, but against more skilled survivors he is not very good. His aimed shot is slow and doesn't even wound. You have to reel them in to get the actual wound. If the shot itself wounded and the reel in and hit was an insta-down it might be better. Reloading is slow and he, reeling players in is slow (and often futile), and he is,just overall, slow. It's fairly easy to break his chain, especially against SWF groups. Huntress may take more skill to hit, but when she hits, it makes much more of a difference, and she doesn't have all of the slow downs that he has.

When a killers toxic its because "they had a few bad games" i have seen that excuse thrown around on the fourms and it just dosent make sense. Why try to justify killers toxicity by blaming it on survivors?

By toxic i mean nodding your head while facecamping or playing insidous bubba with a mori

If your gonna reply please dont call me a survivor main (i play both sides equally) or mention my username (my names just a meme

You are being a bit of a hypocrite. In another post you tried to justify teabagging a killer because you didn't like what he did. You did something that many consider toxic and justify by blaming the killer. Why is it that some survivors feel that they can be as toxic as they want? Notice how I said "some" rather than blanketing the statement across the whole group.

Here's the thing about toxicity, it spreads. As the game becomes easier and easier for experienced survivors, some players find other things to make things fun for them, like harassing the killer. It's bad enough that killers are now forced to play sweaty almost every game, then they have to put up with constant harassment by bored survivors. Frustration leads to killers doing things that may be considered toxic.

That said, using perks and addons in the game is not toxic. Mori's are not toxic. NOED is not toxic. Face-camping (not regular camping) is (imo anyway), and I don't really understand that one. Playing killer has become extremely stressful lately, and I can see some killers getting frustrated and playing sweaty, but face-camping is just stupid. Also, a lot of survivors that complain about these things tend to omit the potentially toxic things they may have done that caused the killer to do something toxic.

The game is ALREADY balanced around SWF/Killers to the detriment of solo survivors...even more so with the impending patch. So this would allow BHVR to continue to make necessary balance changes between the dynamic of SWF vs. Killer while giving solo survivors a chance.

Also, voice chat is not bad. Most major multi player games have a voice chat system. All of them have easy ways to opt out entirely or mute people you don't want to hear. I don't believe most people would end up turning off voice chat. I think some people would just routinely get muted for being dumb. Which is the same in any game.

Not doing something to drastically level the playing field between SWF/Solo survivors, especially as the game continues to tune specifically because of SWF and with the newest changes, is just going to further alienate the solo survivor community into not playing, which is arguably a larger segment of the player base.

LOL No it's not. The game is balanced around solo survivors and killers. That is how the game was designed. SWF groups unbalance things for the killers, NOT solo survivors. Voice chat, essentially, removes the need for many perks, allowing those players to focus on specific escape perks.

You also seemed to have missed the part about the game, then, being rebalanced under the assumption that all survivors are using voice chat. That means that the game will have to be made more challenging for survivors in other ways. That would really punish solo survivors that don't want to play with voice chat.

  • "Yes this will make it harder for killer until changes are made"

So you think the voice chat should be added BEFORE the changes are ready to balance it, making things even worse for killers? No. That is the last thing the game needs right now.

SWF groups are only one part the balance issues. Until the dev team can figure out how to balance the rest of the game, there is no way they should take on even more balancing issues.

Besides, voice chat is bad. This game is already toxic enough without every idiot with a mic being able to spout their toxic nonsense into other players' ears. SWF groups are friends and coordinate that way. Strangers on chat feel that they can say whatever they want. Currently, you can report abusive text chat. You can't do that with voice chat.

Not to mention, many players don't want other people telling them how to play, which is what would happen. There will also be some asshat that feels that they should be in charge and everyone should listen to them. Those are generally the same types of players that blames other players for their own screw-ups.

Most people would end up just turning off voice chat, so there is no way that you can balance the game around it. And adding it without balancing would just be another issue to make more killers stop playing.

  • I think that survivors should get decent amounts of BP for being slugged or staying on the hook. We might see fewer DC's then, or hook suicides. The shouldn't get XP to go up in rank though, just the BP..

If they're very consistently 4 minutes long that's a you problem buddy. And like I said, killers do complain as much as survivors. Literally anything either side does is complained about. Tbagging, clicking, slugging, camping, perk usage. It's sad.

Nah, if a match only takes 4 minutes, that is a problem with the game. That shouldn't be happening even if the killer was afk. That being said, you're right, it should not be happening consistently, as some maps are much easier for killers to patrol, than others. And, yes, both sides complain, though some complaints are valid, while others are clearly not.

  • That was just a reworded version of the other persons snarky comment. It's funny how you didn't have a problem with the person mocking the killer. It seems that you are the toxic one.
