Sorry, but in that situation, that is the survivors fault. If a killer is facecamping, you don't throw yourselves at the hook like mindless zombies. If the killer facecamps, do gens. As long as the survivor on the hook plays their part and wastes the killers time, that should allow your team to complete several gens in complete safety.

Thats my point. Its so much easier to not only get blood points as killer, but also double blood points as killer. It shouldnt be that I feel the need to play killer in order to level up my survivors efficiently
It's easier to get blood points as a survivor, because just about everything you need to do to get them is letting you. Killer have to earn their points from unwilling parties. That said, I think survivors should get some extra BP's for certain actions, but less progression points.

it brought you here, so it worked :)
"Killers: I have a build for you" would have brought me here. The other stuff is just to inflame the community, as if there isn't already enough toxicity here.
-
You could have posted the build without the toxic bait title.
-
Definitely a strange question. I don't think anyone feels that it is unfair. People dislike it because it is perceived as toxic, by many, not because it isn't fair.
-
Corn is a very strong plant. You can't run over it. Even driving through iot mostly just pushes it to the side. Hiding in corn is pretty much a staple in horror flicks. Not that i feel all that safe in it, as a survivor. If you are in a chase, you can always follow the scratch marks.
-
Killer is the more difficult, overall. New survivors have a lot to learn, and it can be intimidating. That initial period is harder, I think, for survivors, It flips pretty quickly, though.
-
It takes 10-15 seconds to cleanse a totem. There are 5 totems per map, and 4 survivors to do them, so the "not enough time" argument doesn't work. Plus, survivors used to be able to do all of this stuff while the old Ruin was slowing down the gens. Cleansing totems is far quicker. Survivors need to get out of the "I don't want to do bones" mindset. I do 2-3 per match. If players just spread the word to other players to cleanse totems, rather than just calling for nerfs, the task of cleansing totems wouldn't feel so daunting.

They're already making several maps much more fair and balanced this upcoming mid chapter
They are making changes. We will have to wait and see how "fair and balanced" they are. I saw a video of some of the changes and some of them looked considerably worse for the killer. It did look like there were some minor QoL improvements for both sides. From what I have seen on the implementation of the breakable wall, I don't see them breaking god loops. In some cases it looks like they create additional loops.
I'm willing to suspend by opinion, somewhat, until I see it for myself, but there's no way that i am going to assume that they will truly be fair and balanced. If they are, I may regain some fatih in the dev team.
-
Yes, there needs to be some balance changes to some of the things that give survivors benefits over killers, but slowing survivors down is not the answer. I would much rather they get rid of the frustrating loops rather than slowing down survivors to make them easier to catch at those loops. Maps and gen times are the biggest problems, not survivor movement speed.

Funny how much better he is at getting downs than other killers considering how weak he apparently is.
He's not. He has to hit, reel them in, hit them, reload, somehow hit them again, reel them in, and hit them again, in order to get a down. I imagine it is fine at lower levels, but the chain can be broken by obstacles and by other players. Coordinated SWF teams can have a field day with him.
That said, he can be fun on certain maps, and do well.

I do bones too and if i get hit with noed, i hate my solo teamates...but i cannot force them to do bones. i am 100% fine with that. why do other players want dbd to resemble cod tdm when this game is 4 vs 1....
I do bones too. Recently are started playing Nancy, and she needs to cleanse a totem in order to use Inner Strength. That lead me to grabbing Small Game when it came up, to find totems easier. Then that got me to wondering what it would be like if more perks required cleansing totems. It might get people to start doing totems naturally. If every one did totems it would not be that big of a deal. It only seems insurmountable when no one else is doing them. I am doing 2 to 3 every match, now.

Ironically that wraith style of play nets me a few downs and hooks a game, so score-wise it just looks like I'm a bad killer, especially if the survs keep coming back.
Imo intentional AFKs aren't bad, I've seen my fair share of them. Unintentional AFKs are more annoying due to your allies not helping with gens, instead swarming like flies around the afk. At least an intentional afk wraith forces survs to do gens and leave.
My point is, that if someone reports you for not participating, then the devs will look at it based on that report. They would assume the report was accurate, based on the lack of certain types of points.
Neither are good. No one queues up for a game of generator repair simulator. People wait in the queues, and don't get a game out of it, yet they still have to all of the mundane crap do get out.

Ah. kk. I didn't know how long it was up, or when it ended.

I don't really know where you could go to find a discussion on it, most likely the General Discussions or a potential PTB 3.7.0 sub-forum that might be open. Either way, that's something you'll have to find on your own.
Well, in the past I have seen it discussed here, or streamers showing off the changes on the PTB server. I have heard some streamers mention changes, but they didn't go into detail and weren't playing on the PTB. I'm just surprised there isn't so much discussion going on about it.

Wraith gets a lot of points. On occasion I play 'my gen' wraith and use the perfect invisibility when still to chill near a gen I call mine. Even with very few chases I build up 20k BP on average.
Maybe, but there will be areas that you have no points in, so the devs could see that you weren't actually participating. Non-participation is still a reportable offense.
-
Definitely would be a nice feature.
-
Yui :)
-
I am the best killer, and the best survivor, of course. How can I help you? :p
Obviously, the answer is going to be completely subjective. There are too many random factors involved to judge whether one player is better than another. it's just not possible.
Tru3Talent is an excellent streamer, especially because he plays killer and survivor about equally. I'm pretty sure that he doesn't consider himself the best player. I think he has even said that. He does, however, bring a perspective of someone who plays both sides equally, and explains a lot about how and why certain things work. That's something you don't get from streamers that are mains of one side or the other. he's still a very good player. Otz is also very good. I stay away from streamers that intentionally play in a toxic manner and are proud of it.
-
Plenty of good players out there too, but survivors rank more easily than they should, and you end up with some less skilled players in the lower ranks.
-
@batmanscar said:
no ? I was giving you advise on which killer to pic since you said you hav'nt played in a while and are trying to get back into the game
Oh, I see. Sorry. :(
No, that wasn't the problem. I actually already have Bubba at 50, along with a few other killers. My problem was that after the ruin nerf you have to play so sweaty, and the terrible matchmaking that puts you up against survivors considerably more skilled than you. I don't yet have all of the meta killer perks to make up for the loss of ruin. On top of that, dealing with toxic swf groups got to be too stressful, so I just went back to playing survivor. It was really tough trying new killers then too, because you got harassed even more. Sometimes I can ignore it, but sometimes it gets to me. it just got to the point where it wasn't fun anymore.
I'm hoping the map changes and gen speed changes will help a little with this, so i was wondering about when and what changes were coming. I have also been reset a couple of times, so it seems like it might be a good time to try experimenting with new killers, before the changes kick in.
More than you ever wanted to know, I'm sure. Sorry for that too. :)

Rank doesn't mean skill in this game. Don't worry about it too much.
This ^^
Survivors rank too quickly, so many less skilled players have ranks that they don't deserve. It can be frustrating at times, but there are also a lot of good solo survivors out there that really make the game more enjoyable. Hopefully the new MMR system will put people in matches with other players of equal skill, and it will be less frustrating.

@Peanits said:
That's an awfully big blanket statement, and those don't tend to help anyone.
Yes, sometimes people just don't bother cleansing the totems in spite of the match going very well and then get hit by NOED. That's not all matches, though. There are times when the match is really close and they simply don't have time to go look for all the totems. Especially when you've got someone using a strong killer with 3 slowdown/regression perks on a map with very well hidden totems, stopping to go find all five totems is easier said than done and would probably do more harm than good.
To dismiss them all as lazy is a pretty lazy excuse.
I'm pretty sure that the OP didn't mean "all survivors". I'm pretty sure that it was just directed at the ones here on the forums that are constantly calling for nerfs rather than adapting. Aslo, there are perks to help with finding totems. The problem is that they don't want to have to replace any of their meta perks.
You mention the killer running 3 regressions perks. They would have to sacrifice other meta perks to do that. Why? Because they are adapting to the fact that gen times are too quick. Certain survivors here don't want to make that same sacrifice. They want to keep their favorite perks and get rid of the need to cleanse totems. It's much easier to call for nerfs, than adapt.
The survivors that you refer to, that make calculated decisions to not cleanse totems, are likely not the ones on the forums calling for nerfs.

NoED is fine but don’t act like RNG doesn’t play a factor in it. Certain maps will spawn ######### totem spots and god totem spots. Leary’s is a nightmare for totems. All those blue crates make looking for them a COMPLETE pain in the ass and all survivors have to do is miss one. Same thing for Haddonfield.
But there are perks that can help you locate them. The problem is that certain survivors don't want to adapt and give up perk slots to use them. And frankly, most are just to lazy to bother. It's far easier to ask for a nerf.
Many killer hated Ruin, and wasting a slot on a perk that likely wouldn't last long, but it was an adaption that they had to make due to the situation. Ruin got nerfed, and the game is faster on the survivors side, so the killers had to adapt again. Many don't want to use NOED, and some still don't, but many feel that it's the only option to balance things out.
The problem is that these survivors complaining about NOED are not willing to adapt, in any way. There are even other perks that more directly counter NOED, without having to find totems but, again, some survivors are unwilling to adapt and give up other perks in order to use them.

No problem.
As for an exact date... Some say it'll come out 2 weeks after the PTB, but that's going off of past PTB to update releases, it's not an official date. As I said before, there is no official date I can give you unfortunately. Usually when an update or a new DLC comes out, it's announced on the day it's coming out. Sometimes it's announced a day before, but I rarely see that happen now.
Sorry, I was actually wondering about feedback from people playing on the PTB. I saw a lot of feedback during the Ruin nerf and Doctor update testing. I haven't really seen anyone talking about this update. i thought there would be more discussions going on, about how the changes were.

Why should the person being unhooked leave scratch marks when they are already:
- in an injured state.
- lost one chance to live
- going to get tunneled anyway
It should be the person who unhooks that should leave the scratch mark and it also shouldn't be a stupid perk to do so anyway.
This will prevent tunneling from happening which will be a great thing for the health of the game.
Anyone that is running is going to leave scratch marks. An unhooked survivor is not the only one.

If survivors are supposed to do gens AND totems every match then why is there still no totem counter in the HUD for solos?
Honestly, that's not a bad idea. I think most don't bother with totems because they think no one else is.
Nancy even needs to cleanse totems for her Inner Strength to work.
-
Everyone knows why it's being used more, they just don't like it.
The devs should have listened more to killers on the test server before the nerf. Everyone knew it needed to be changed, and offered alternative solutions, but they got dismissed, out of hand. Killers had to adapt to a situation they don't want to be in anymore than the survivors do.
-
To any new killers reading this, no, that is not the way to do it.
Worrying only about kills makes no sense, That is only a small portion of your points. You are losing out on multiple hooks, chases, downs, damaging gens, etc.
Also, if they are working on three gens on the farthest reaches of the map, that means the next two they do will be closer.
Wraith can move pretty quickly. I don't see any reason to camp and NOED. I mean, go ahead and NOED if you want, but don't camp one and just rely on NOED for an extra kill. You are giving killers a bad name.

A great idea, but playing an invisible killer has crippled all of my other DBD killer skills. I literally can't ever find anyone with a non-stealth killer, if I try a 32m killer sometimes I only see 1-2 survivors the entire game until the gates open. Once you've experienced invisibility, its hard to let it go...
Not to be rude, but it seems like your skills at playing an invisible killer have become crippled too, if you can't figure out a way to deal with that situation without camping. You need to change things up and learn too play better without stealth. I don't even see how you can find, playing like that, fun. I don't even use NOED, but you do you, in that department.
-
"Claudette and Yamoka's estate"
LOL You win.
-
Guys, what are you talking about? The OP's concern is with the matchmaking. Don't hijack the thread to debate the strengths of killers.
Yes, OP, the matchmaking sucks, atm. Supposedly they have a plan to fix it, but we will have to wait and see. I wouldn't hold your breath.
-
Starting this type of thread is not going to help.
On any forum that you post an opinion on is going to open you up to criticism. On these forums it is even worse because there are far too many people that "main" characters of one side or the other, and know nothing of the other side. They only see things from their own, narrow-minded point of view, and can't even comprehend the other sides point of view. This leads to them attacking anyone who doesn't share their point of view. The only way to avoid it is to not have an opinion. Even those of us that play both get labelled as mains for the other side if we say something in favor of that other side.
-
I love how people just dismiss the idea of cleansing totems, as if it is just a ridiculous idea. Gens are already done faster since the Ruin nerf, so you have the extra time. The real problem is that they don't want to give up their clutch perks for one that would help them find and cleanse totems. It takes like 15 seconds to cleanse a totem. With 4 players it doesn't take that long. And it's not like you have to do a crazy amount of searching, just move toward your next objective, see the warning go off, stop, cleanse, then move on. But then, you would have to give up all the perks that can be used to irritate killers.
Heck, people don't even run kindred anymore. If i don't run it, we don't have it. That didn't used to be the case. I stop and cleanse totems as I come across them. I figure that if i do my part, and others do theirs, it might pay off. But that's not going to happen, because certain players don't want to be bothered to do it. Heaven forbid there is some challenge or work to survive the game.
If the devs nerf NOED because survivors can't be bothered using the tools built into the game to counter it, then they need to just scrap the whole hex system as a loss, and remove it from the game.
-
Yep, if it wasn't they wouldn't have put a button there to give you a 4% chance to escape, or make you spam the spacebar to keep from dying. i have tendonitis in my wrist and I have suicided a few times accidentally because my hand spasmd when spamming the spacebar.
-
As others have said, no, it's not. The reason they are making vaulting noises, and stuff, is to get you to come over to them and chase them out, for the extra blood points. They might even give you extra hits to give you extra BP's too. It's just about sucking every last BP out of a match. Personally I'd rather just move on to the next match, but some people like to milk everything they can out of each match.
-
I have only really seen it a few times in my games, fortunately. I don't get why they do it, but I am pretty sure that a thread like this won't convince them to change their ways. Clearly when they are doing that, they aren't concerned about winning. They just want to be as toxic as possible.
-
Yes, MM is broken. It's common knowledge at this point. Maybe it will get fixed, maybe it won't. The devs claim to have a plan, but who knows if it will actually work?

Not sure what you mean. You can't open the doors until they are powered. And, taking a single action is not participating in the game, and is still reportable. They don't actually have to be physically afk to be reported. The devs can just look at the score and see that the killer didn't participate.

If you don't hide and stall it's impossible to win, and you want to imagine scenarios in which everyone is still trying to win. Or would you rather everyone give up?
Uh, no, that's not true. Maybe that's why it's not fun for you. Maybe that's why you lose. You are hiding and stalling rather than getting things done. Why would you need to hide and stall with only one person down? That makes no sense to me. Why would you play an differently than you would with 4 people? I play no differently with 3 people than I do with 4. The goal is the same, complete gens and don't get caught by the killer. I don't see a reason that you would be hiding anymore than you would with a full group. You are going to lose people eventually throughout the game anyway.
The killer has to patrol the same amount of area, but has fewer survivors to find. It makes it harder on them too. Plus, i would argue that a survivor getting hooked early is a bigger detriment, because other survivors have to stop what they are doing to go and rescue them, then heal them, or possibly get a second person hooked in the process.
Besides, there is no "Winning" criteria in the game other than what you make up in your mind. You can get a ton of points even if you don't escape, and being down one person does not mean you can't escape, it might just take a little longer.
You'd rather quit than face a bit of a adversity. That's fine. But most people don't feel that way. You can always DC yourself if it is that terrible for you. That is your decision. I, personally, don't want other players making that decision for me.
And, once again, people don't always DC at the start of the game, since most DC's come after they have been downed or hooked by the killer. It could be the middle, or closer to the end. No different than if they died. Should the game stop after the first survivor dies, too?

They don’t sit directly in front of the hook making it obvious, but they’ll “patrol” as they would say nearby so they’re never too far from the hook. The idea being that they can get back there a.s.a.p for the tunnel.
It wins them games most of the time. Survivors just want to play the games, they want points so they’ll feed killers like this. They’ll hear the terror radius hanging around but they’ll go for the unhook anyway for the points. With Deathslinger it was always the same, proxy camps hook, gets a ranged hit on survivor coming for rescue before they unhook, survivor unhooks, Deathslinger slugs them the moment they unhook and goes to quickly tunnel the unhooked survivor. Now you as solo have half of your team incapacitated.
Combined with NOED as safety this wins most games and yes it does happen in a lot of games. I’d say 90+ easily at least on the EU servers. Some killers are definitely worse than others for it though.
You need good survivors or swf to escape. Back in the day these tactics only worked in ranks 10-15 but these days the red ranks are so watered down theres virtually no difference between most red ranks and the old ranks 10-15. People play exactly the same.
It's a good strategy if the survivors feed into it, but very few killers actually do that because it doesn't work on more experienced survivors. You probably think that it is happening more often than it does, because you don't understand what is actually happening, and you call it camping. If a survivor is within the terror radius of the killer, then the killer is perfectly justified in patrolling around the hook. They have tools to detect survivors. If survivors don't show up on BBQ that means they are in the killers radius, so he is justified to look. If the killer hears whispers, or sees birds fly, or sees scratch marks, he knows someone is around trying to make the rescue and is going to patrol the area looking for them. Hell, some survivors lead the killer right to the hook, and then loop them around the hook area, preventing and type of rescue.
Also, survivors should not be relying on the killers terror radius to know if he is still there. If they are, then that is part of the problem. Probably too many survivors running meta perks, and not using any aura reading perks. So they wander into the area, which keeps the killer there. I run kindred on almost every build. If the killer is around the hook, the rest of the team knows exactly where they are, without moving. If he is camping, then good survivors will stay on their gens and pop 3 or more gens while he stays in that area. It's a terrible strategy for any killer unless they are going up against newbie survivors that just feed.
I'm not saying that there are no killers that camp, i know there are, but a lot of what survivors see as camping is not camping at all.

You think it's fun to have to hide and stall the game? I guess that's your opinion, but most people know that 3 man games are a pointless effort.
Why do you have to hide and stall? You don't have to do anything different than you normally do. If that's how you play it, that is your choice. You see a challenge and mentally give up, apparently. Not everyone is like that. Most of us play it the exact same way. You can still get points for all of the same things you do when you have 4 people. And yes, it is my opinion, and you are welcome to yours. I'm just glad we don't have a system like that, because people like you would give up and quit at the sign of the slightest adversity.

Disconnecting already ruins others fun, better to get it over with if there aren't even 2 gens done yet.
Again, people that disconnect now are doing so for their own reasons, and they don't consider how it affects others, or just don't care.
However, if leaving meant you cancelled the entire game, then toxic people would be abusing it to intentionally ruin other people's games.
And I disagree with the idea that it already ruins people's fun. The game is still fun, just more challenging when someone disconnects. You can still escape, and even if you don't, you can still get points and have fun. It's no worse than someone getting mori'd early. I would much rather stay and play a 3-man than get disconnected and have to wait in the queue. Plus, not everyone that DC's does it at the beginning. Some have done it after the gates were opened and they got downed.

What? Lmao.
I play this game for the challenge a half decent killer can present, I play the game for fun, there is no challenge or fun that comes with an AFK killer, I'd rather wait another 5 minutes in lobby than queue and quickly get a killer AFK.
And that's why you report them after the match for unsportsmanlike conduct. Being AFK is a reportable offense, and should be used.
