  • The devs said it is a legal strategy, they did not say it was a good one. All killers know it's a bad strategy, at least at ranks where survivors know better than to throw themselves at the killer, making it a good strategy. For the survivors that do know better, it is a horrible strategy for the killer. You sound like someone in a previous post. It doesn't matter if survivors like doing gens, they still have to get done. I don't see how that is an argument. You still have to do them. With the killer camping, they can be done in peace, without any worry of the killer sneaking up on them and interrupting them. If survivors stop suiciding, by throwing themselves at the camper, and did gens, those killers would stop camping.

Yes, but when the killer camps all you have to do is gens... does any survivor actually like doing gens?

What does liking doing gens have to do with anything? They still have to be done. Let me guess, you are someone who ignores gens and leaves it up to others to do.

If he camps, you can do them without any fear of being interrupted, and you know where he is. He will not get much in the way of xp or BP ifor hooking a single survivor once. It is a terrible strategy, unless players, like yourself, suicide in, to make a rescue, because you don't want to do gens.

  • Gens have to get done. That is the game. If you aren't going to do them, why play?

The point was valid. If someone is being camped, ignore the camp and do gens. Don't reward the killer by throwing yourself at them.

Aw....thank you. I try my best not to be toxic and try to debate with proof and points.

I have to admit though, it's REALLY difficult some times.

Just don't let them force you to debate logical fallacies. Stick to the point, and make them stick to the point. Don't let them bait you with nonsensical arguments that have nothing to do with the topic. It's a common tactic for those that know they are wrong.

  • It's the internet and some people feel that they can say anything they want because there are no consequences. Likely they try to bully others on the internet because they can't in real life, and they resent it. You see this in pretty much any online community.

This community may be slightly worse because there are "sides". For some reason, some people feel that they have to be mains of one side or the other, and the other side is the enemy. They get motivated by community support, and they get their beliefs reinforced by others in the community (even if they are wrong), and they absorb the beliefs of others that are "on their side". You will never convince these types of people of anything, no matter how hard you try. Even if you play both sides, you get treated as a main for the other side if you disagree with something they believe.

Just don't let it get to you. If it does, go away from the forums for a while, or block certain people that are like that.

Clearly, you missed the point. He wasn't saying they had to say GG. They told him that he couldn't say GG. Did you even look at the pic.?

  • My first thought was Self Care, since you can, apparently, heal yourself from the most serious of injuries, but then decided Unbreakable would be much better because it saves you from dying. I know that it isn't as daily practical, but it could be huge if it was ever needed.

What I mean is that I more often Double-Pip as Killer. I can only speculate, but I guess it is because as Killer I am only dependant on myself, while as Survivor, the Killer has to be decent AND I have to share Unhooks/Chases/Gens with other Survivors. Killers have more control about their own game. Sure, now someone can come up with "BUT IF I CHASE SOMEONE 3 GENS GET DONE". Well, then dont chase someone for 3 Gens.

I feel that this is the main reason for many complaints in this Forum - Players are not good enough, but think they are good (because they reach Red Ranks) and think that being in Red Ranks gives the right to complain about everything.

Like I said, I depipped to Rank 5 because of a really bad evening. Like getting one-hooked, Iri Head/Ebony-Huntress, stuff like that. But overall I would say that my Survivor would have an easy game against my Killer, so from my experience, ranking up is too easy for both sides. I think I can estimate how good I am at Killer, so I know that I should not be at Rank 1, lol. And I know from my Survivor games that other Killers also should not be at Rank 1 (prime example: I had a Freddy who was not able to catch me at 2 linked T/L-Walls. After running around the wrong side all the time he changed his tactic to window-vaulting, success was limited. And this guy was Rank 1...).

In general, DBD is not a difficult game at all. So I dont like that "Survivor Ranking is too easy", while the Killer Ranking is not really harder. MAYBE the MMR will change anything, but I doubt it.

In the end, it might be entirely possible that Killers get easier games because Survivors have it easy to rank up. But even then, this is basically a self-reinforcing spiral - bad Survivors help bad Killer to rank up, which allows even worse Survivors to rank up, which allows even worse Killers to rank up and so on.

Yep, it's definitely a vicious circle. Survivors ranking too fast puts them in higher ranks against killers who are more experienced, making it an easier game for the killer. Killers may rank too quickly, as well, but survivors rank much faster and more easily. As a survivor, you don't even have to come close to escaping, or even finishing gens, to rank up. A hook rescue or two can be enough, along with a little gen work, and some chase time, even if you lose the chase.

I think that most of the stuff that survivors get rank XP for, that doesn't require any skill, should have the rank XP reduced. I also think survivors should get more blood points for things they do, including hanging on the hook, rather than suiciding, and recovering while slugged. I think they should even get BP's for getting mori'd.

For killers it's a lot more convoluted. They can do extremely well in a game, and even get a 4k, but still not pip or rank up, because of other criteria not being met. They may rank too fast, as well, but it's still slower than survivors. Typically, if you have a survivor and killer of the same rank, the killer will be the better player. There will be exceptions, of course, but in general that is the case. This is not a slight toward survivors. It makes for a bad game if less skilled survivors are going against much better killers. In addition, there are players on both sides that deserve their rank, and will demolish the other side. hopefully when they redo the MM system, we will see more balanced matches. Rank will be meaningless then, and it won't matter.

Remember when keys were a "limited time item"? Turns out the devs will even break their promises to appease the survivor fanbase.

I don't see it appeasing the survivor fanbase. Survivors that use keys to escape leave their teammates behind to fend for themselves. One game i was in, there were three of us left, then two used a key to escape, leaving me alone. I don't like keys as survivor or killer.

I rank faster up as Killer. I was basically Rank 1 Killer while still being Rank 5 as Survivor (because I got a horrible evening and depipped from 3 to 5). In general, I have more Pips/Game on average as Killer than Survivor, because I have more Blackpips and Double-Pips when playing Killer.

And I would consider myself mediocre, at best. And I guess most people on the forum are exactly like that - mediocre at best. But because they play the Powerrole they think they deserve a 4K every game.

Don't know what you are getting at. What does ranking faster have to do with getting 4k's? That sounds like a clueless survivor argument, but it doesn't even fit the conversation. Survivors ranking too fast is not a good thing for survivors. It's not a killer hating on survivors thing. I play both roles, I know that it is much easier to rank up as a survivor. That is NOT a shot at survivors. I'm looking at it objectively. As i said, it is almost impossible to depip as a survivor, unless you are a complete potato. Some games i feel that I play like a potato, yet i still pip.

Not going to say that you are making up that you you ranked faster as a killer, but all that would mean is that you play significantly better as killer than survivor, and/or you are playing against these survivors that ranked too quickly and they are easy to kill. You, like many survivors, likely don't deserve the rank you have, so it has become more difficult for you in the higher ranks. Again, that is not a shot. I feel i don't deserve my rank as a survivor. I rank even when i play poorly. As killer, I feel i deserve my rank, though, because of the MM system, some games are far to easy, while others are considerably more difficult.

The problem with survivors ranking too fast is that when they face tougher killers, survivor mains feel that killers are OP. It also makes it easier for killers in games where they play against these survivors that are in a rank they don't deserve.

  • And unlike huntress, he can't down you from a distance, or across obstacles. His harpoon does no damage on it's own, He has to reel people in, in order to get a legitimate hit. This is time consuming, in a game where the killer needs to be fast. If you are harpooned on the other side of an obstacle, he can't get to you. The chain can be broken before he can drag you in for the hit. Huntress' skill shot does damage, his skill shot does not, he has to then reel you in. His lower terror radius is really the only thing that makes him effective.

  • Great. I had some confusion on this,as well. Very helpful thread. Upvotes for everyone. :)

  • Nothing like that should be considered until we see how they revamp the MM system. If it works, it should be placing player with, and against, players of relatively equal skill. Then, hopefully we won't see seasoned killers abusing potato survivors, or vice versa.

"There are also a lot of red ranked potato survivors, because they rank up much more easily than killers do."

Ranking up as Killer is too easy as well. Otherwise we would not have this sheer amount of Red Rank Killers complaining because the game is too hard for them.

It might be too easy, due to matchmaking, but it is significantly easier/faster to rank up as survivor. It is nearly impossible to depip as a survivor. You would have to get found and hooked immediately by the killer, then downed at the hook after an unsafe rescue and then get moried, in order to depip. Probably not the only way, but you get the idea. Killers can work hard and still depip.

It’s not too easy for survivors it’s too easy for killers. Insta kills via Mori’s, abilities and perks, insta downs (exposed) how much easier do they have to make it for killers? I main plague with access to none of that and I still do fine. Get yourself a good headset and a TV with high resolution plus some map knowledge and you’ll be alright. I feel like killers that don’t get constant 4Ks are the people that come on here and complain about getting bullied 😂 Killers have such easy ways of ending chases fast, almost too fast. You guys might be lacking competence in this area. That has to be the issue. I’m angry with the lack of playtime I get as survivor due to lack of Being able to defend yourself from tunneling, camping, proxy camping and the constant abuse of Mori’s since there are very little alternatives for killers because of its ridiculous strength in an offering slot - ITS AN OFFERING. Survivors dont have anything that has a similarly strong impact on the game in their offering slot.

Yeah, it is. Unlike you, I play both sides. I can have the worst game ever and still not depip, as a survivor, and ranking up is ridiculously fast. Killers can work hard and still depip, or just black pip. This is not an anti-survivor thing. Leveling too fast is bad for survivors. It puts them into ranks they aren't ready for, which makes them think that killers are over powered. You sound like one of those survivors that don't deserve their rank, so you see killers as being OP. It's not a bad thing, I know that I don't deserve my survivor rank, but I pip every game unless I have an ulucky game where i am downed and hooked early and then get mori'd, but that is rare. However, since I play both sides, i don't jump to the conclusion that killers are OP because they outplay me.

  • The hatch is fine, it's keys that are the problem. It's fine if the last survivor finds the hatch before you. You don't need a 4k every game. however, keys letting multiple survivors escape before they otherwise could, hurts both survivors (that are left behind), and killers.

  • Have not played her, so my opinion is from the survivor point of view.

She has stealth, which is handy, and her head trap can waste a lot of survivor time, slowing the game down quite a bit. I think that puts her ahead of several other killers, imo.

That said, i don't know anything about how she plays, so I can't really rank her compared to some of the better killers in the game.

  • Yes, there are well coordinated SWF groups that abuse killers, and makes the game unfun. The game is too easy for them, so they get their amusement by harassing the killer. There are also a lot of red ranked potato survivors, because they rank up much more easily than killers do. Hopefully, this will change when they revamp the MM system. Supposedly that will match people more based on their actual skill.

  • Only less skilled survivors feel that way, and people that don't play killer. A strong killer vs strong survivors, is a survivor sided game. Yes, some maps definitely benefit killers, but many maps benefit survivors. I'd like to see the maps a little more balanced for both sides. I'm sure it is difficult to perfectly balance them, but I'm sure that they can do better.

  • I agree, the fact that he is a clown, and there is already a clown, doesn't really matter. They are two completely different characters, regardless of outward appearances. I really know nothing about what his powers could be, but as long as he is interesting and different to play, that is all that matters.

  • Lithe. I don't like SB because I like to sprint at other times, and I don't want it to not be ready when i need it. I also like Head On, and often use it with Lithe, because i usually don't use/need them at the same time. Sometimes I use BL, but there are not enough maps that allow you to make good use of it.

  • As long as you are working on gens and doing rescues and heals, but otherwise hiding when the killer comes rather than being involved in a chase, that's fine. It's only when you hide the whole game and do nothing else, that it's a problem. That negatively impacts your teammates, and is kind of scummy, not to mention it is not going to give you a lot of points.

OoO is not going to help you hide, obviously, but it will help you avoid the killer. It will require you to be much more active, and could ultimately result in chases. Also, if you are trying to hide, it seems like quick and quiet and Iron Will would be good choices.

  • Pretty douchy, if you ask me.

  • @Mister_xD said:

    congratulations?

what are you trying to achieve with this post again?

Probably just trying to get views on their video.

  • BL is there, if people choose not to use it, then they need to accept the stagger. Killers should not be nerfed because survivors don't want to use perks. Killer use perks that use totems that can be destroyed early in the match. Risk vs reward. If you choose not to use balanced landing, then you need to adjust your strategy of when you are going to jump, or choose a different escape route.

  • Nah. It doesn't touch any part of the game, and you could get the same result by drawing a crosshair on your monitor screen with a dry erase marker.

  • No killer is toxic, players are toxic. Using the killers abilities is, in no way, toxic. The problem is that you have to play differently when facing the Doc, and some people just can't adapt to that. Just ignore those people in chat.

  • I think they are fine with that. They are looking to broaden the player base, not move it from PC to mobile. I could only see them doing that if there was crossplay between PC and mobile, which is not going to happen.

  • Don't care for them, myself. Feels kind of cheap, imo.

  • LOL No, you can't sue them and no it isn't illegal. All online multiplayer games have terms and conditions that indicate that gameplay will change over time. It has to in order to keep the game balanced. I was expecting a real post on the frustrations of playing killer, not something like this.

  • While i use perks not on that meta list, i don't think i use many of the same ones on a regular basis, though I'm sure that i am just not remembering some.

Killer: Franklin's Demise comes to mind. Only choose it when i see a lot of flashlights and/or keys.

Survivor: Small Game. Great for finding totems to for inner strength and to help prevent NOED. Bonus for when going against killers with traps.

The guy is also suing to own the rights to Jason name as well. So you wouldnt even be able to reference him by name either.

It be ghostface all over again

As I said, DBD doesn't even use the names, so that shouldn't be an issue. Freddy is The Nightmare, Michael Meyers is The Shape, Leatherface is The Cannibal, and so on.

However, the last i heard, the judge ruled that the writer of the original film got the rights to the name "Friday the 13th", but the studio got the rights to the Jason character, and it's the studio that has filed the appeal, to get the name "Friday the 13th" back, not the other way around. I'm also pretty sure that you cannot own a persons name. It's only a problem if you use the name along with a specific likeness and you don't have permission to use them. The Jason in the first movie is not the same as the other Jasons that we have come to associate with the franchise. As long as they get permission from the studio, there shouldn't be an issue.

  • Sounds like someone relying on using the hatch to escape, rather than using it as a last resort. It's a chance that you did nothing to earn. Maybe you get to use it, maybe you don't. it's a chance. And once the hatch gets closed, you no longer need to repair gens. You can open the gates. No guarantees, but that is still another chance to escape.

Y'know what, never mind. I like a good debate but this isn't it.

Not sure what tone you got from less than 2 lines of text, but whatever "tone" you got was in your head. You inferred something that was not there. I reread that previous post to make sure. Nope, nothing there. I said that killers have to deal with more negative post game chat and that seemed to trigger your survivor main defenses, so you made a rude response. You know why I said that killers have to deal with it more? Because they do. If you weren't viewing my post as a survivor main, and looking to be offended, you may have seen it for what it was, a simple statement of fact. No bias, nothing negative toward survivors, just a simple statement of the reality of things.

  • @Ikalx said:

Yah, I realise. The OP did use an example of survivors though, so that's why I said it's everyone.

Also, I almost always watch the match until the game ends. Usually because I'm invested in it. I only usually move on if I think my fellow teammates were rubbish (troll style) or the killer was farming us maliciously. So, y'know, maybe not assume who sees what.

There are good people in this game and the community but honestly it just takes that one hella salty insulting chump to make what otherwise would have been a decent experience leave a bad taste in the mouth.

I honestly think that's why everyone gets so salty after a while...not so much the actual game, even though there's a fair bit there, but that every few matches, someone leaves a bitter air. And unlike another game which maybe would be more upbeat in the game itself, this game just doesn't lend itself to that.

"Also, I almost always watch the match until the game ends. Usually because I'm invested in it. I only usually move on if I think my fellow teammates were rubbish (troll style) or the killer was farming us maliciously. So, y'know, maybe not assume who sees what."

Wow! That was a silly thing to make a snarky comment about. I said killers see more of it, not that survivors see none of it. Most survivors do not stick around till the end if they get killed early. They just move on to the next game. The killers are forced to stay to the end and will always see the negative comments directed at them. If you played poorly and stick around for the abuse, that is your choice, most survivors don't. Killers don't have that choice.

A lot of the saltiness comes from the stupid survivor main vs killer main nonsense. Neither side can properly understand the problems of the other. Look how you jumped to the defense of survivors and got tilted by the mere suggestion that killers might have it worse in some situations. Those of us that play both side see things much more objectively, but our opinions largely get ignored because "mains" can't see the middle ground, let alone the other side.

  • I think that survivors should get less XP for escaping that way, and I don't mind the killer getting something for it. Likewise, survivors should get more BP if they get mori'd or face-camped.

  • The most toxic thing you can do is be abusive in chat. Most of the rest of that stuff is annoying, but not toxic.

  • Yeah, the game is horrible for new killers. I know they are supposedly working on something new, but they need to put their focus on that and backburner most everything else. I don't see how they can get any decent feedback on how to balance the game when MM is so screwed up.

  • The lawsuit is over Friday the 13th, not Jason. The guy who wrote the first movie, did not create the Jason character, and has no rights to him. Since DBD tends not to use their actual names anyway, there should be no problem with them getting rights to allow him in the game.

Whether he would be the best option for a new character is debatable. I think we'd be better off with someone/something a little more different from what we already have.

  • Thick fog gives stealth killers more of an advantage, and survivors more of an advantage toward non-stealth killers. Lighter/no fog gives non-stealth killers an advantage and survivors an advantage over stealth killers. Generally speaking, though, because the map is also a big factor.

  • I am not familiar with how he plays, but if you are saying that you spear them, but don't reel them in (no idea if that is possible), then that could probably be considered toxic behavior, because you are just toying with them rather than playing the game. Shooting someone at the gates definitely is not toxic. If they are just hanging out at the gate, then they deserve what comes to them.

  • It goes both ways. Plenty of people saying all killers do this, or that, too. Some will say "most", instead of all, but it's just as bad of a stereotype. People are individuals. Individuals do something in one way or another. To act like everyone of a certain group does something just because a small percentage do it, is ridiculous. Blame the individuals, not the group.

  • Nah, they just need to make the killer regen perks more effective (remove the totem from Ruin, for example). They said that they don't want to increase gen times, because holding m1 is not a fun mechanic, so adding another gen to hold m1 on is not likely going to be an acceptable solution.

  • He has a lot of weaknesses, so I don't have a problem with him. He's new and some people have trouble adapting.

  • Honestly, i don't understand why they implemented the mechanic, rather than just fixing the god loops. However, since they did, it is a killer mechanic to break the god loops. That death room is a mistake. They need to remove it. Survivors, once they realize what it is, will avoid it, and the killer will never break the walls, so it's pointless. it is not, however, a reason to give survivors the ability to break walls.

  • It's a game mechanic to prevent the game from being taken hostage. You need to adapt. Once there is only one survivor left, it's a race to see who can find the hatch first. It's still in the killers favor since you can move at full speed and don't have to worry about being seen or leaving scratch marks.

If you get their first, and close it, then the timer starts. They have to open a gate and escape. That takes time, and on many maps it is fairly easy to patrol both gates. If they don't get it open in time, they die, so this forces them out of hiding.

I run BBQ so i know who i havent hooked, im not stupid lol. *EDIT: I forgot to mention, please no more troll comments like this one, thanks!

BBQ doesn't tell you who is where, it's just auras. There is no way for you to know one from another. Sorry, I'm not buying the "I just know" thing. Since you avoided the rest of what I said, then I suspect that you did know this third survivor.

Btw, you don't get to decide who replies to your posts, or how they reply. Besides, someone who does something they know is wrong, but comes here to find out if they can get banned for, has no moral high ground to call other people trolls.

  • I mostly remember the worst ones, since when things go good, it seems like how they should go.

Probably the worst one was when a downed survivor crawled to to the spot where I was hiding, and brought the killer right to me. If they had let themselves be hooked, i could have rescued them...or if they recovered, i might have actually been able to get them up, but they didn't. Instead they got us both killed.

Also had one player deliberately body block me for the killer. At first I thought they were just clueless, but when i went to a different door and they blocked me there too, so I knew that it was deliberate.

Had 2 surviors escape with a key when i was on my first hook. Clearly they were friends. I was thinking, "three of us left, this is my first hook, we'll be fine", then they just disappear. Needless to say, things weren't fine. ;)

Nah not a friend, just a random person in the game. And what do you mean by being good at avoiding you? Go play hide or die then lol! If i see this survivor again i facecamp with bubba.

What? There is a difference between hiding and being able to avoid you. They can do gens, and hook saves, but you never see them. There is no way for you to know they were hiding the whole game, until the post game score, unless someone told you. Also, how does a random person indicate that they want to show you a hiding person? While i have a dislike for survivors that hide the entire game, there is no way for you, as killer, to know that's what they were doing.
