Just because something isn't posted in the "right section" doesn't mean it isn't "feedback".

Sure, but given your post count and your communicated intent, if you want it to be feedback you should post it in feedback if you want it to be treated as such.

Not sure how you didn't gather that yourself.

No? One of the purposes of this forum is to give feedback.

Sure, if you posted your 'feedback' in the right section.

he still plays the exact same mechanically but you have to actually try and land a shot instead of quick scoping when its convenient

I am convinced you just don't know how to look over your shoulder. Or use LOS, or W the moment you hear the terror radius. Or crouch. Or juke. Or pre-drop pallets.

Several of your posts qualify for worst take.

OTZ literally just proved in his stream that it’s not survivor sided at all. Nice try bud

You don't know what literally means.

What Otz did prove is that the MMR system really struggles with protecting people with less hours.

If you discount the absolutely ridiculous SWF squads he goes against all the time, forcing him to tunnel and sweat himself I could see you coming to your conclusion.

You know, if you only watched the one video, justified your biased view, and then never participated in fact-finding ever again.

    Killer main brain.

The people voicing their concern have played a lot of survivor. They've also watched killers like the Twins get ######### on. Over and over and over again. If the twins is their favorite killer they have every right to be pissed, as this is just the next injustice in a very long string of them.

Low understanding brain. No killer or survivor prefix needed.

  • Slinger does not counter hold W.

Hold W does not mean ignore LOS at all costs in your effort to maintain distance. Yikes guys those are some potato suggestions.

Also, stop magically forgetting his M2 has a range and with the nerfed TR that makes holding W easier than ever.

You can say what you want, what you or someone else thinks is bullying is what I call fun. I’m not making this post to be “petty”, I’m saying that the snowmen are fun. So because you or other people dislike the imbalance of the event that means other people can’t enjoy it? Killer mains or just people in general will really find anything to complain about. But as I’ve said before, I should of known before posting something related towards the survivor side, you just get attacked by killer mains.

You chose your words and phrasing with a specific intent and your original post is so thinly veiled you're not going to be able to run a screen after the fact.

The funny thing is you've done this several times based on your comment history and continue to act surprised. Shocking.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2689022#Comment_2689022

I'm hardly nitpicking when my entire post calls attention to the misuse of 'sweaty' in a game that requires almost zero mechanical skill. You're still misusing the word, even after reading my post.

From the little experience I have with LoL, that game has a far higher skill ceiling than DBD. Of course you're going to see people use the term 'sweaty' there--it fits the context. But people are not sweaty in League of Legends for picking meta champs. There is nothing inherently sweaty about lining yourself up for the best chance of success. If you're not doing that, and your opponent is--they aren't sweaty, you're just negligent. How can you expect to play a competitive game (even in casual), and not expect people to try to win?

This is exactly why I made this post. I feel so alienated on these forums because the community has developed a bizarre backwards mentality. People think they can play a zero-sum video game, not try to win, and then still win. If you're not playing to win, you don't deserve to.

You're missing several points reiterated many times across many threads.

    • When you look at the 'Sweaty' loadouts and playstyles, if a killer uses all the sweat they have, it comes nowhere close to all the sweat the survivors have. Nowhere. Close. That's the imbalance that allows people to lob the complaint "Sweaty SWF." Just like SoloQ's turn that against Killers who tunnel and slug.
    • It's not misused. Unlike many ideas thrown about, being sweaty quite simply means going above and beyond in an effort to win that often creates a parity with the effort the other side demonstrated. Again, this is why survivors memeing around use the term and why Killers who just wanted to experiment with some perks use it too.
    • DBD has plenty of mechanical skill, I'm not providing examples here, it's self evident from watching comp play and montages

Sweaty isn't about trying to win, it's about how you try to win and what you're willing to turn the game into in order to do so. The easiest example is the 2 v 1 standoff at the end of the game where the Killer only slugs and the survivors only immerse for the next 20 minutes, in the effort to deny either side ANY sort of victory.

You feeling alienated is a personal problem, the community has a very consistent understanding of sweaty when compared to other PVP games. Ironically, it's one of the few things this community gets right.

  • @Mileena_Kahn said:

It’s fun using the snowmen. Me and my SWF group used them to body block this artist at shack and I busted out in tears when she couldn’t get through to me. 😂

This is exactly why I dislike the forum policy of not calling out trolls. Here we have a user with a comment history that oozes of self-aggrandizement and is now manufacturing an obvious bait for people who have already voiced their displeasure with the imbalance of the event.

You didn't post this for any reason other than to try and annoy people. Imagine being so petty that after you bullied that killer it still wasn't enough for your starved ego.

  • @KayTwoAyy said:

...and an argument could be made that Sweaty Killers don't exist, either.

I feel like a boomer--needing to address this fallacy--with the term "sweaty" only circulating in the gamer community for a little under 4 years now.

A "sweaty gamer" is someone who works harder, not smarter; someone who practices a game's skill mechanics to an extreme, but doesn't fully understand how or why they are applied.

A game needs a substantial skill ceiling in order for players to be provided with an opportunity to "sweat," and the reality is that Dead by Daylight's skill ceiling is incredibly low. There is no skill to master as a survivor in DBD (unless you consider looking behind you while running forward a skill), therefore a good survivor is always working smarter, not harder.

DBD is a thinking game, while a game like Fortnite (where the term "sweaty" emerged) is as much a thinking game as it is physical. It can't even be debated that the two are comparable. Fortnite gamers spend hundreds of hours practicing their fundamentals in creative mode, while DBD gamers spend 2-10hrs (at most) learning to moonwalk in tutorial--a skill, by the way, which doesn't make you any better at DBD.

Simply put, someone is not "sweaty" for playing intelligently.

A survivor's sole objective is to escape, so this idea that someone is "sweaty" for trying to complete the objective is ludicrous.

This is the only PvP game community I have ever seen where players are frowned upon for trying to win. Dead by Daylight is a zero-sum game--you are not hip or cool because you rebel against the game's design. You are not better than someone because you escape after memeing all game while they died trying to play the objective.

You are wrong when you call someone sweaty, and you are wrong to believe you stand on any higher ground because you "don't take video games seriously."

People play video games for a variety of different reasons.

If you play video games to relax and destress, and you don't care about the outcome--congrats, I'm happy for you. But some people play video games to win. Some people might just like the thrill of success. Some people might not be finding success in their own life, so they search for it in video games to help their mental health. And some people just enjoy the process of working towards a game's objective or goal.

Whatever their reason may be, a person is perfectly validated for trying to win.

So Please, stop making fun of people for trying.

@StarLost 's clarification of what sweat is in online gaming is the accurate one. You're nitpicking my dude. It also certainly isn't the only PVP community where this happens. You see it in League of Legends all the time where a casual, blind draft game is utterly stomped out by one team running a full meta champ roster while the other team is just trying to experiment with builds and can't even do that because they're getting trained so hard.

You know what, I agree with this statement.

It isn't a GOOD event, per say, but at least they TRIED! What did we get for Halloween? Pumpkin kicking with RNG speed boosts or hincerances.

At least this one is kinda unique and silly.

Midnight Grove was one of the best archives to come out, that also translated into free cosmetics (That were arguably better, IMO)

The issue with this event is it takes less than 30 seconds of playtesting to go "Huh, maybe the survivor should lose a health state or take several status effects upon being meleed out of the snowman."

And the issue, repeated in more blunt terms is, we KNOW they playtested at least 30 seconds. That means they made a conscious, informed decision to make the Killer's life even harder than it already is. It's beyond tone deaf at this point.

Would they? It seems to me like those Survivors would actively take advantage of the protection offered by the snowman in the middle of a chase.

They are. I've had survivors use the snowman tactically every game to body block, close off loops for their friends, you name it.

I had a niceish Wraith my first match, after he killed 2 players he let myself and the other random player do gens and leave. Think he was nice to us because while he mori'd the other two we hopped in snowmen and just started goofing around thinking we were screwed anyway and he was amused when he saw us. I ran to nearby Snowman after opening exit gate and was worried time would run out because I was moving so slow. The Wraith just stood there watching me. 😂 I'm just happy I escaped once in a Snowman. I'm disappointed it explodes when you exit like when you jump out in game, I really wanted to watch the snowman slowly move away from the match. 😂

My disappointment is immeasurable. I was looking forward to seeing a snowman trudge away and now I know I will receive NOTHING.

Yes, I know I definitely should be telling people what their thresholds are. But, if you can help yourself you should and trying not to care about bming at exit gates is a way to do that hopefully.

If someone's got a genuine bone to pick, I don't tell them to ease up. They understand the choices they've made to get to the spot where they're angry and I would just be belittling that.

Based on your concessions it sounds like you do understand why people hate toxicity in this game, or any game where one side can hold the other hostage for that matter. Nothing more to do here.

  • @ManOMaker said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2687945#Comment_2687945

Yes, I totally agree that it’s not exclusive and it is wrong for survivors AND killers to be toxic. There’s no point. And Yes, it absolutely a problem and is a fair point to make. My point however, is that it is unnecessary to let yourself get mad at survivors bming at exit gates.

You don't really get the choice, you suffer enough indecency it eventually makes you mad, no-one is immune. Simple as that. You don't get to decide what other people's thresholds are.

  • @ManOMaker said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2687912#Comment_2687912

Well, if you think of it that way the. I suppose that could give a reason to why someone would be annoyed at it but thats honestly more of a DBD problem than a toxic players problem.

Yes, and a large portion of the community has clamored for changes for a very long time. Did you see some of the ridiculously unsympathetic responses to the mega-thread about preventing exit gate BM?

It is a toxic player problem, and a DBD problem. They're not mutually exclusive and the survivors don't get a free pass. The people who engage in this behavior repetitively don't need such easy excuses.

  • @ManOMaker said:

Now before you assume anything, I do not bm at exit gates. I never have, never will. It’s a waste of my time and I’d rather just get on to my next game.

But even so, I’ve seen countless amounts of complaint after complaint of people crying about toxic survivors tbagging and flashlight clicking in the exits during endgame. I do not care that so many survivors do this, I just care about the people complaining about it!

Why Should You Care? Why get mad at these individuals who are only doing this because it’s funny to them? There is nothing to get yourself worked up over. Just please, just do this thing:

PUSH THEM OUT!!! This is the easiest way to end the bming and get on with your life. Sure, you can farm your power or just ignore them and break pallets and doors, and by all means, go do that. But just pushing them out of the dang gate should always be your first thought. It’s what I do every time any survivor is still in the exit, wether they are being toxic or not.

The only things that happen because of this are good things:

    1. You can get an extra hit or use your power once more.
    2. Maybe they don’t leave and now you have a free hook.
    3. (This is the most important one) THE GAME ENDS.

So please, everyone just shut up about toxic survivors in the exits and just move on with your life. Thank you.

It boils down to control. Period. That's it.

Survivor's demonstrate that they're in control of the game, the pacing, and in the end even the finale, by holding the EGC hostage. In a game where the Killer is supposed to be the big bad, all it does is remind us that we're playing the underserved role. That's enough to irritate anyone, because in the end it's not about the BM, it's about dismantling the concept of being the Killer..

  • The entity does not discriminate. Fresh meat is fresh meat.

  • @CakeDuty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2687144#Comment_2687144

I mean, that's a fair point too. That Huntress one, the Clown one, where you had give survivors yellow bottle and then purple (or opposite order, can't remember) and the Plague where you had to hit two survivors with Corrupt Purge twice in a trial were awful as well. But at least you're going in, knowing that you're gonna have to throw a bit to get your challenge. It's something you set yourself up for. When you do that as survivor, you're ruining the experience for 3 others.

At least for killers it's just Master Challenges that are odd, the others you get through normal gameplay without having to go out of your way to get it.

A survivor ruining the experience of other survivors is the cost you pay for being the power role and the 4 man in the 4 v 1.

Additionally, killers who identify sandbaggers tend to go out of their way to make them miserable. We don't like games that are atrociously easy, just like we don't like 4 man SWF squads we can do nothing about. We want something competitive.

  • There are killer challenges that require us to use god awful perks and playstyles, too. The Huntress ones generally stand out. Use Beast of Prey, get X # of melee swings with no hatchets on your belt.

I understand that survivors sandbagging teammates for these archives is a genuine issue, but I see a lot of comments that demonstrate they've clearly never actually looked at the killer archives.

  • I don't think I'm the only person who does it, but I scrapbook post-game chat. When the other side loses their mind it deserves memorializing.

“It only reinforces why killers tunnel in the first place”

Im sure it had nothing to do with their lack of skill. 🙄

You picked a weird portion to harp on, but I guess then you either have nothing more to offer, or you do agree that target switching on The Game provides little value. Who you're chasing on that map does not altar the pallets they have access to.

But to address the portion you harped on, again, several high profile, very good killers have videos online of them actively choosing to tunnel because they deemed it the correct action/response to survivor gameplay, and reviewing the video would lead just about anyone with half a noggin to come to the same conclusion.

    but they lack skill /s

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2685758#Comment_2685758

Good luck tunneling in The Game, where every pallet is pretty much safe.

Add to that Shadow Step and a survivor taking a hit for their teammate, and that survivor being tunneled will have a ball.

The Game is a heavily survivor-sided map. Not sure if you're arguing that somehow switching it up and trying to hook people non-sequentially would somehow give you a better chance of winning The Game. Whether you tunnel, or try to split the pressure and find someone dumb enough to not have an escape plan to a safe pallet, it only reinforces why killers tunnel in the first place. The only difference is that The Game is even moreso a "Survivor's match to lose" than other non-egregious examples.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2685552#Comment_2685552

You cannot interfere with a gen, if you are tunneling. Most smart survivors will split the gens at that point and even the most potato teammate will throw down every pallet they find.

All I am saying that tunneling gets you a 1k at best, unless the team falls for the bait. In which most cases new people will, but people who know the drill won’t.

    I would rather lose with a 2k and 9 hooks than with a 1k and 2 -3 hooks.

    Yeah, sorry, you're wrong.

Tunneling works, it's well documented and not really up for debate. And survivors don't get to choose the Gen layout, the map does. Survivors on gens also don't get to choose the loop path of the tunneled target, the killer and tunnelee do. Killers can tunnel and to an extent accomplish secondary goals like I previously described.

    Not mutually exclusive.

Tell me about it, around half way through I thought I was on my main account haha. I was seeing DS, 2x BTs, saw the dwight use unbreakable. Dead hard to make pallets. Healing fast as hell.

Thought I was going nuts haha

Maybe we need to look at it through a bigger lens. Given how notoriously bad BHVR is at fixing bugs and addressing widely agreed upon issues, perhaps the coding that supports the MMR system is also spaghetti and has collapsed upon itself or otherwise is throwing more and more errors. I think that makes more sense then them turning it off without notice. The 'Gotchya' community rampage wouldn't be worth the attempts to hide disabling it.

  • I think I concur. I have noticed my games getting progressively easier. Sometimes suspiciously so.

Maybe the influx of new survivors has increased the systems ability to match people more at our current MMR?

That certainly doesn't explain your egregious experiment results though.

What's not an outlier, however, is a one hook death in end-game. That's incredibly common.

Not sure the point of your comment. I was pointing out flawed math and nothing else.

Edit: Nevermind, I see what you're getting at now. I disagree, when a survivor stays on the hook through several hook states, the hook counter goes up. Maybe that's being nitpicky but I don't know if the person I quoted is accounting for it or not. I am. 8 hook states = 2 kills excluding devour hope and mori.

    Edit 2: Oh and Rancor

  • @fr0sty1223 said:

With the changes to hatch and keys why is the hatch and left behind still in the game? They are completely pointless because every single killer slugs so you can never get hatch anyway. I understand hatch and keys needed to be changed but this was not the way to do it. BHVR should either making slugging the last to people not a worthwhile thing to do or revert the changes and try something else.

Let's disregard the multiple ways to avoid a Killer slugging you as one of the last two survivors.

Really - every single killer slugs? You have the worst luck finding killers that have enough time to wait out the bleedout timers every game as the last two survivors hold the game hostage in hopes of a hatch escape.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

I don’t think you realize how tunneling is a bad strategy. That is a lot of the reason why killers get “genrushed” because they focus on the one person, turn around and 3 gens pop in their face. Then they want to complain because they felt like they got genrushed.

I am not saying there aren’t instances in which yeah, it does work…. But to tunnel the first person you lay your eyes on just “because “ it’s recipe for disaster.

That is not the most efficient kind of tunneling. There are other things happening in a standard tunnel:

    • The killer is proxying the hook while identifying gens that they can interfere with
    • The killer is looking for options to force health states and pallet drops so that when they go back to the original survivor, the other survivors and the environment cannot assist them
    • The killer is looking for an even easier target. Not all potatoes are created equal
    • The killer is preparing for a potential hook swap so they can maximize the damage while they go back to the original survivor
    • I'm sure there's more. I'm not an exceptional tunneler (Yet!)

Effective tunneling is not what you described, and not what killers defend.

So, by your definition, "gen-rushing" actually doesn't exist, because by your definition, "gen-rushing" is the exact same thing as survivors doing objectives.

An idea can be known colloquially by two terms and still be accurate, my dude.

  • And a meteor could also crash through the roof and remove you from participating in this thread.

When you use extreme generalizations to describe an outlier, you are being very disingenuous. No-one is arguing it can't be done, but the majority of the active participants on this forum understand what must be done to consistently play well as a killer - you appear to have missed the memo. Or you live in a fantasy world.

  • @Munqaxus said:

There's a lot of people saying "gen-rushing" when it's Killer's mismanaging their time.

What is your definition of "gen-rushing" and how is it different from survivors just doing objectives?

To the first part: I don't think we agree. Survivors say it is killers mismanaging their time. Anyone can turn on a stream of a well-versed player and watch 2-3 gens pop as they down, or before they down the first survivor. It happens all the time, without prove thyself, and without overtuned toolkits.

To the second part: Survivors doing their objective as focused as possible IS genrushing. 4 survivors seat themselves on 4 gens, and 3 survivors continue as a single survivor gets identified and chased, that's it. The chased survivor using their resources appropriately means 3 gens pop before they go on the hook.

We don't want survivors to stop doing their objectives. I say it all the time from the Killer perspective, why should I let the survivors tell me how to play? What we want is for BHVR to balance it so that over 50% of a survivors objective isn't accomplished within the first 90 seconds of the game. It is simply not healthy.

Well, I'm saying that tunneling and genrush are both legit, and so therefore they don't get a say in what the other side does.

I think most killers agree with this. It doesn't matter if the chicken or the egg came first. We want it changed. If survivors want to genrush that should be their prerogative, but I think everyone would agree that it would make sense if there was more counterplay than eliminate 1/4th of the survivors as quickly as humanly possible - which IS the only counterplay right now. (Yeah, I know NoEd exists, it does nothing against competent survivors)

You don't have to look through much footage to find competent survivors eating through generators in spite of builds that aim for regression, postponement, gen denial, and yes, even tunneling. Genrushing is the norm, and it's extreme, and for the sake of the game's health killers need more options or genrushing needs to be nerfed.

60/40 killer/survivor, with plenty of soloQ play, since my giblets already sense the "KILLER MAIN" accusations coming.

  • 8 hooks is not more than 2 kills on average. That configuration can only yield 2 kills, tops. Kills cannot be rounded, because BHVR does not measure by hook states.

Yes, yes, yes, you can factor in Devour Hope and Mori's if you really want to nit pick, they are outliers.

  • I don't know if 50% is appropriate. But I can say with certainty that so in many of my games I pick up an extra kill or two because survivors decide to be obsessively altruistic (something which by any metric makes ZERO sense).

The idea that BHVR is looking at these games and is thinking 'Not 50%, nerf Deathslinger time.' is very concerning to me.

In other words you aren’t good enough to play without tunnelling out a survivor

I never spoke for myself personally, but I certainly do a mix of things that include tunneling. Just like all the noteworthy streamers and comp players. If that means I have to suffer your criticism I'm sure I can live with that.

Because like my original post stated, show me the butthurt survivor.

  • Immersion is an art. Making a Blight or Nurse waste 40 seconds looking for you is absolutely valid. You know, providing you don't get caught and give them a free health state as a result.

Looping is just much more objectively measurable skill, and the community tends to give it more credit for several reasons.

The true problem with immersion is that if you're really good at it, it still requires your teammates to be good at looping (or immersion, themselves). If you're good at looping, your teammates don't need to do anything but gens.

Gen-Rushing is when at least 2 survivors bring in BNPs and at least 2 survivors bring in Leadership. It's very rare.

What most people are calling gen-rushing is basically failure on the Killers part to manage their time correctly.

A killer tunneling a survivor out of the game is probably a Killer that doesn't understand how to manage their time correctly and are resorting to elementary school Killer tactics to play well beyond their skill level.

You know, the math for how fast gens pop has been done before, and I've never seen anyone define gen-rushing with that kind of specificity before.

Pretty sure the definition belongs to the consensus, in this case.

Killers who always tunnel: Trll me you are a terrible killer without telling me you are a terrible killer

It is a proven and effective way in which to mitigate the survivor's chances at escaping. You have to literally use absolutes to frame it the way you did, and the statement is still weak. Sure, some god-tier killers can probably consistently 4k, but that provides absolutely no reason to dock the rest of the killer player base for employing a tactic that has BHVR's seal of approval.

    Nice try, though :)

Edit: to frame it in a way that remotely sounds maybe appropriate.
