  • Survivor's who don't like tunneling: Tell me you are the weakest link without telling me you are the weakest link.

The killer is an entity powered murder-train, they do not care for the survivor's feeilngs.

Yeah, Sure, This is fair... 🤐

That person wasn't even that good, but this is just ridiculous, I want a rematch with Full Meta Perks.

So slap on full meta perks.

  • I still think the balance needs to be fixed by starting at the source. The power role. There are 4 survivors and 1 killer, but even crappy survivors (I would know, I'm one of them) can pre-drop 15 pallets, move themselves to a somewhat decent double L/T-wall window Tileset, take another 20+ seconds to hit, then move to a dead spot of the map with dead hard and soak up an absolutely LUDICROUS amount of the killer's time.

In a game where the killer is supposed to be stronger than the survivors that should never, ever happen.

Getting survivors to respect the killer role starts with adjusting the game so survivors feel like their chase isn't a joyride, but an exercise in attrition where every second they buy is valuable. Rather then, "I can legit loop and W this guy forever."

  • Besides the fact that he spends a large portion of the game being an M1 killer, and besides the fact that we're in a meta that heavily favors tunneling, not slugging, he also suffers from pre-buff plague and post-nerf Deathslinger syndrome.

He just feels clunky. it's like you're swimming in molasses.

I didn't even say that no Killer has an M2 in that post, yet you are calling out my reading comprehension, OK.

Yeah, that was sarcasm, which does lead me to believe the comprehension issues lie with you.

Take the last word and run along. It's clear I'm not going to fix whatever problem you have with me at this point.

    Response to your edit

For the third time, I've already acknowledged he can be played as a 115/M1 Killer. Your original post didn't say that though, you said he could be played as an M1 Killer to his full potential. Which is just wrong, even under that definition of M1 meaning a 115 chaser.

Ah, I see. Yes, there are no solely M1 killers, every killer has an M2.

I simply did not understand that there was a lack of reading comprehension here.

  • @JPA said:

Language is a useful tool. Words exist because they allow quickly identifying/categorizing and communicating information.

Therefore a category or definition is useless if it's very definition is fuzzy or comes with about 3 hidden gotchas or conditionals.

I guess if you meant he's a 115 Killer, you could have just said he's a 115 Killer.

Look at my edit on my previous post, and stop overthinking it. I'm allowed to provide however much information I feel is appropriate, as it usually doesn't devolve into this level of nitpicking.

  • @JPA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2683016#Comment_2683016

You are the one who chose to use M1 Killer in the description, knowing full well how poorly understood that definition is.

You seem to think I'm angry or something, saying I'm "overthinking", and "pulling the hair out of my head", when really I'm just trying to establish some common understanding.

I'm not drawing smaller boxes, I'm using the very definitions you've given.

Earlier, Blight was an M1 Killer, because he's 115. Now Hag is an M1 Killer, even though she isn't 115. Blight was an M1 Killer, because he presses M1. Nurse presses M1, but he isn't an M1 Killer.

Hag is an M1 Killer, because she presses M1 after her power, Nurse presses M1 after her power, but she isn't an M1 Killer.

These are all your own statements lmao

115 is a descriptor, not the law of the land. Hence, smaller and smaller boxes my dude.

EDIT: And the whole point of the 115 descriptor is that at the end of the day, 115 killers can, if nothing else, be played like M1 killers if you are in a situation where you simply can't use their power. Blight can M2 to traverse gens, and then play the M1 game as good as any 115 killer at loops. That's all. That's important information given the context of this thread.

  • The Bubba argument drives me bat ######### crazy. Every survivor acts like when Bubba is around it's a guaranteed 2k. What? Did that first survivor START on the hook?

Against a somewhat competent team that Bubba is going to have to go through 15 pallets for his first down.

  • @JPA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2683005#Comment_2683005

But.. earlier you said Blight is also M1 Killer because he is 115 and plays loops normally, Hag is not 115.

So which one is it, the 115 speed, or the fact they have to press M1?

Not only that, but under your definition, Hag is M1 against a certain subset of Survivors, but not all.

It seems like its not entirely a consistent definition to me, but whatever.

You're drawing smaller and smaller boxes, and at that rate no killer can be categorized into anything. This is ultimately why most people have varying definitions, and mine isn't meant to serve you. It's meant to serve me, and the OP to the extent of his needs on this thread.

At the end of the day, how does the killer use his power? If they're dealing damage at range, completely circumventing the traditional loop playstyle (Of which against a respectable team, Hag does not), or dealing damage with their power, they are MOST likely an M2 killer.

You're going to pull your hair out of your head trying to hold me to whatever your definition of M1 killers are, you're welcome to make a topic about it, or look at previous threads where people have argued at length.

  • @JPA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2682987#Comment_2682987

Sure, and I even just said you could fall back to him as an M1 Killer, but that's still not playing him "to his full potential"

But I guess this still falls back to what your definition of an "M1 Killer" is

But under your definition, Hag and Nurse are also M1 killers, because you have to press M1 after using their power.

And they're obviously not M1 Killers

Hag is an M1 killer, by my definition, and at the end of the day good survivors turn her into one.

Nurse is not, she is in a category all of her own. Her power completely disrespects the entire nature of the game. She doesn't play against loops, pallets, vaults, or even survivors if she's good enough. The only thing she plays against is LOS and maybe an argument could be made for immersion as well. You could call her M1 by my definition, but at that point it would be disingenuous due to her unique situation.

  • @JPA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2682963#Comment_2682963

I assumed M1 Killer generally means you rely on the M1 (i.e. standard M1 attack) to score all or most of your hits. E.g. Trapper is M1 because he always has to get M1 hits, apart from very rare grabs directly from his traps.

I.e. more about the M1 as in the standard attack, rather than M1 being the button you physically press.

Good blights tend to use the blighted rush attack, which is not really a standard attack (it behaves differently in terms of the turning/hitbox etc.)

I'm not "overthinking" it, why bother having and using names for things if the definition is not agreed upon and our intent is not clear?

I guess the thing I was more picking up on is the fact you said he's an M1 killer "played to his full potential". I think the best hypothetical Blight would be landing M2/M1 hits all the time, so you wouldn't even be playing him as a typical M1 chaser all of the game.

Sure you could fall back to him as an M1 Killer, but then that's not playing him to his full potential. Which is I guess why I disagree with your statement of him being M1 at full potential.

He's still running around the pallets/loops smacking you with M1, he's just doing it extraordinarily fast, if the killer is good. The person who made this topic is not experienced with Blight. He's going to have plenty of downtime where he's going to be better off doing typical 115 mindgames, maybe even for a few months as he will have to get extremely familiar with the tilesets to get to the point that Blight becomes a non-linear killer.

Nitpicking aside, I stand by how I originally described it for the OP. I don't get to choose how other people categorize killers, I just get to be consistent in my efforts.

  • @JPA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2682178#Comment_2682178

How is he an "M1 Killer" if played to his full potential. If played to his full potential you'll be using M2s to get to the majority of hits, I don't think a blight rush counts as an M1, even if you press M1 to use it.

He presses M1 every time he wishes to do damage. Don't overthink it, everyone has a different definition. At the end of the day, the Blighter is a 115 speed killer who has to play the looping game. That's all I'm going by.

  • You, maybe, but most of us wouldn't be surprised as we agree with Pulsar. If you play every avenue this game has to offer (SoloQ, SWF, Killer), it becomes pretty easy to see how survivors are so much stronger. Yes, SoloQ can suck, that is the nature of the beast. If one of your teammates DCs, if someone is a potato, these things happen. But you're still stronger. In a game where the first 3 minutes are pivotal and the killer has 4 survivors to contend with, all it takes is one DECENT survivor to completely dismantle them.

You don't even have to be good at looping. Just pre-drop pallets and you'll run circles around most killers.

  • He's easy to learn, hard to master, and necessary in the current meta. He's one of the few solely M1 killers that can function well when played to his potential.

You're going to hear a lot of whining about his add-ons and advanced techs, just remember, that's people whining that a players spent their hard earned BP and took an inordinate amount of time to develop niche skills for a single killer.

Let me guess, your a Killer main and decided to post this because you think that every Survivor acts like that? Killer mains are acting like dicks too, just had an game against Legion who facecamped everyone and was hitting them on hook and slugging for 4K and letting everyone bleed out.. Booba game was similiar, facecamped and hitting on hook (but got 2 out). Killers are acting toxic too and yet people have the nerve asking why Survivors are acting toxic too.

How was the Legion facecamping and slugging everyone at the same time?

    The whataboutism is weak here.

It's a far better strategy to go after 2-3 survivors and leave one for the end to 1-hook them. Yea i get it is healthy for the game but i feel it has limited use. If the gens get blocked when there are 2 people left and fight for hatch it has not really any value for me.

You are correct. If Grim Embrace procs in a way that is advantageous to the killer, they were most likely already winning easily. It is rarely clutch.

Not all perks are created equal, it may still have it's uses on killers that have an easy time finding targets (Blight, Wraith)

I never said t-bagging was justified. I only meant that if you're going to have the attitude that "I'm going to play how I want no matter what' prepare to deal with consequences. That is all I meant.

I don't think stating that you lose points is a false statement when it is true that yes, you lose proximity points. That's what I was talking about.

And I still mean what I said, maybe find a different game. If I can 4k without being a douche, it's highly probable you can too.

You draw very small boxes to make yourself right, it's a bad exercise. I'm going to play how I need to in order to win, I'm not sure how you got to "Well, respect t-bagging then." As someone already said, t-bagging doesn't complete gens.

Noone cares what you were talking about by losing points, killers lose more points not getting hook states, period. Defending those hook states is a net gain in points, even weighed against the penalty when the SWF squad is unapproachable otherwise.

Also, your anecdotal experience does not make for a compelling argument. This isn't hard.

  • @Pizzasauce said:

I just want to say this and then I'll shut up for a while:

If you're a killer that can't win without camping...maybe this game isn't for you? You actually LOSE points for doing so. Maybe try something else?

From the guy who thinks T-Bagging is justified simply because killers do what they must to win, I wouldn't have put it past you to make such a false statement.

You gain points camping if it ends up securing a kill you otherwise wouldn't have gotten. If you're going up against an unhookable squad, trading the points lost camping for the additional hook states of a single survivor, and possible additional downs from overly-altruistic survivors is a net-gain for killers.

  • @fr0sty1223 said:

Every game I have played this week has had a hard face camping killer in it. Killers do not care about killing this game by forcing every survivor main to quit because this game has turned into sitting on a hook simulator. I know the killer mains are going to come in here and start saying that survivors do toxic things like teabagging and flashlight clicking but those do not give you and actual advantage like camping does. People will say to just do gens if the killer is camping but unfortunately that still causes every single survivor to de pip even if they escape because the killer refuses to interact with you and you can’t get unhooks.

You must be a troll. Literally everyone understands that survivors can waste time doing obnoxious things because they have the power role, and they can afford to waste time.

Doing everything you can to ensure one player doesn't get to play the game is a crappy thing to do. I don't care if it's effective or efficient. It makes the one person you're crapping on feel like they're being personally slighted. It's a crappy thing to do and requires a lack of empathy for the people you're playing against and immediately removes the possibility of it being a "good game".

Yeah. Killers wouldn't know anything about being personally slighted in this game. It's a foreign concept to them.

The majority of killers will do whatever it takes to get that first kill, otherwise the game is unwinnable. We're not here to play the way you want us to play.

So are DS and BT. Perks that are useless unless the killer plays scummy.

Consecutive hooks are not scummy. There are a million ways consecutive hooks can happen without a killer tunneling or camping.

Also, tunneling and camping aren't scummy regardless, feel free to bring meta perks and manage those tactics appropriately.

  • Y'all call camping griefing, that's a riot. I just had to kick every single pallet on Leary's, face multiple body blocks and to think I decided not to tunnel their no DS potato at the beginning of the game.

    Camping is a symptom.

  • @Laluzi said:

God, I despise the 'hide within 10m of the killer for 30 seconds in one game' challenges. There's lots of bad survivor challenges, but this one is the absolute worst. The only non-idiot way to get them is to wait for a farming killer. Even a facecamping killer seems like prime bait for this challenge, but if you're running in circles and pointing at them, or staring at them from behind a rock, then you're not doing gens and you're probably going to kill the rest of your team. It's one thing to hide while the killer inspects your gen, but getting 30 seconds in one normal game is unrealistic and what happens is that players have to follow the killer around for minutes because ten meters is so damn short. Then you have the one that wants 60 seconds...

And totem cleansing challenges just went from 'meh' to sandbagging between boons and Pentimento, and that's not counting their numbers, which were nutty and took many games to complete even before cleansing dulls turned into a bad idea.

Then you get challenges like Blood Debt which encourage survivors to race other people to saves and unhook stupidly because they need to save that particular player, damn it. Same with 'unhook survivors in the killer's TR with BT twice in one match.' Just because you have BT does not make a save a good idea.

I've opened exit gates before I should have and sandbagged teammates to get protection hits all in the name of rift challenges. I've thrown the game, pallet camped, and wasted so many pallets trying to get stuns-in-one-games done, I've sat there and pointed at the killer while they ran towards me for Tome 6. Challenges that encourage gimmicky gameplay are bad for the game, especially on the survivor end of things (because the killer can knowingly throw their own game and it only affects them, but survivors have three other people reliant on their decisions.)

Blood Debt has to be the worst.

The devs didn't even intentionally plan for Artist to be able to truly snipe people on gens, did they? Hit them with swarms from afar, maybe, for the purpose of revealing Survivors... but not set up a swarm into damage chain, right?

The devs appear aware of her two-crow sniping ability, that is precisely why there must be a .75 second delay between the crows to go from Swarm -> Health state. They're basically saying "Put the crows too close together and it's unfair for the survivors, space them out enough and it's fair game because the Survivor now have an appropriate amount of warning. Her shriek, the travel time of the first crow + swarm, the possibility of a second crow."

  • They won't. Many companies significantly larger than DBD have demonstrated the same ability to avoid fixing the core tenants of their game in lieu of hunting the all mighty dollar, and they don't.

They have bills to pay and their revenue stream is the final say, like it or not new content is what keeps a population growing. Sure, the game slowly devolving into a discordant mess could lose players, but that has not been realized in any significant metrics yet, and most likely they'd try to address that by, you guessed it, releasing more content instead of actually fixing anything.

You are a special kind of immature if your go-to response to being punished is "Well, I'm not really being punished because I rock multiple accounts."

And yeah tanking mmr will likely be the only way. But that's boring and not something I should really be forced to do, especially with my skill and experience.

Knowing my luck I'll keep getting haddonfield lol

So the rank thing is true as it should be easier. But sadly I can only play during offpeak time, I guess I could keep swapping lobbies to try find the new survivor but I'm not sure how long lobbies would be etc.

Usually I dont verse survivors doing adepts even with new chapters, but its definitely a good shout.

And saloon? Really I find that map difficult to stop, they all run to the main building no matter what which wastes a bunch of time and everyone finds the gens really easy and they go pretty fast. Usually the map I get the fastest gens lol.

That's why you give them the main house. Let it be a deadzone. There are 4 walls you can kick out at the start of the game for immediate benefit (Main house second floor by window, Killershack by window, and 1-2 on the row of gens across the street). Breaking these walls at the start and kicking pallets relentlessly turns the entire map into a killing floor. It's generally one of the best killer maps.

Midwhich is another good pick as your hex will be very obscured, generally.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

So I have earned every adept so far and none was massively difficult as it was before mmr and honestly was just more luck based than skill.

However now mmr is a thing and shared mmr I'm not actually sure how I'll ever get this adept.

I'm at the higher level which means it can be mega challenging even with strong perks that work together and having a huge understanding of the killers. Not to mention I'm only meant to get a 2k and adept usually forces you needing a huge amount of hooks and usually a 3k.

Am I just meant to lose XX games till I may have a chance? If I get a good map and people that dont do the objective?

    • Proxy Tunnel one survivor to limit their effectiveness and force them to take less risks
    • Look for good slug off hook opportunities
    • Map Offering should probably be Saloon. Let them do saloon and hanged man platform gens for free to create 1 level, ideal 3 stacks
    • Try to do it immediately upon release as survivors will be going for their adapt, giving you more tunneling opportunities
    • Queue during peak hours to have more solo queue survivors in your pool
