It doesn't happen anymore thanks to the nerf, but I made several clutch redeemer shots with Deathslinger while falling from great heights and through the small holes in killer shack. They always brought immense satisfaction and some smug internal dialogue like "Deadhard this, #########."

I may have shared my own experience and you can feel free to judge me based on that alone. In reality you do not know me. So counter-arguing by adding "If you'd actually played killer you'd understand that" just because you don't like what I had to say is what is actually inane. I do play killer and it is because I play both sides that I am expressing my thoughts on the subject.
When did I say it isn't the survivor's objective? Stop creating your own delusions of what people are actually talking about and stick to the actual point. Survivors are mostly at the killer's mercy and HOW they want to play. So when I say "rush gens" Yes I am talking about the objective, but I am also talking about how they go about prioritizing that objective.
Again, I am not sure why you are even a part of this conversation, because as far as I can see you are adding nothing to the civil conversation that was already happening.
Why do you have to say it isn't the survivor's objective for me to say that it is? I pointed it out because it's obvious and you missed the memo, not because you denied it. Survivors have 2 objectives. Gens -> Escape. Everything else is downtime for when they have extreme control of the game. Your logic path is frightening.
I added exactly what I needed to add, whether or not you're able to understand. I don't need to have some extra-cursory understanding of who you are, I'm responding directly to what you wrote on the forum.

Nurse has had the lowest kill rate for soooo long, it's cause so many bad killers try to play her, but she's still the best or second best killer in the game if you know how to play her, she does not need a buff.
It's satire, dude. The OP's target isn't Nurse at all.

I'm a bit at a loss with this thread quite frankly. To say we hate two of our popular characters because a new chapter is announced is a stretch for sure.
And whilst I appreciate the passion in this thread, to actually draw any conclusions about how comparable Spirit is to the Ringu chapter at this stage is slightly over the top due to no information being made public as to the character, the power etc - the only thing that's known is that it's the original Japanese Ringu and the month of release...nothing else, no powers etc.
I suggest waiting for more information closer to the release, before making judgements on it.
If we see some convenient nerfs to either of those killers prior to the Ringu chapter are you going to come back here and eat crow?
Edit: Before you take that as a personal slight or bitterness, I would expect @TheGannMan to do the same exact thing if they end up being wrong. BHVR does not have a good track record with killer roster management, you can't really be surprised by his reaction.

Not sure what your comment is suppose to add to the conversation.
I never claimed that my beliefs or experiences justifies any conclusion. I just stated my thoughts on survivors who feel the need to gen rush and how because I (since I play killer too) understand their side more, because of the actions of some killer players.
What you did is you tried a subtle flex to tweak people of the opposing argument. Again, it's inane.
Survivors don't feel the need to gen rush because killers tunnel and camp. They do it because it is their objective, it is starkly faster than the killers objective, and they want to win. They don't have anything to do in the game because 1 survivor can do all the heavy lifting by pre-dropping pallets against the large majority of the killer roster. If you actually played killer you'd understand that.
Also, if all three killers in a row were truly really bad at chasing and using their powers, then that says more about you and your MMR, as you are the common denominator in this story.

@Johnny_XMan said:
First 3 matches of the day (Spirit, Huntress, Spirit) all 3 of them camped on first hook. No one takes the bait. All gens get done, No Ed is their backup plan.
It is unfortunate because it makes the gameplay dull and boring. The worst part was they all had ONE thing in common...They were all really bad when it came to down to chases and actually using their power.
I have absolutely 0 sympathy for these type of killers. One, because I too play killer and while I do use those playstyles, it mostly happens organically, not because I refuse to chase anyone or it didn't make sense to do so.
So you know what I say? Keep gen-rushing survivors and don't feel bad about what you're doing because they won't feel bad for you when you are being slugged on the floor for 4 minutes on the ground or being camped 30 seconds into the match. Sorry not sorry.
It always confuses me how the start of EVERY survivor agenda must include a personal anecdote about a killer playing the way the survivor doesn't want, and the killer losing as a result.
Like your personal beliefs about how a single match played out justifies the most inane conclusions about wide swathes of the player base.

Then this might come down to the differences in solo and SWF gameplay. Whenever I play against a camping Bubba, the full extent of what I can do boils down to "pray all of my teammates know what to do and don't feed him or ragequit." Trying to coordinate a solo rescue is completely impossible because you don't know what perks the other players have, nor can you communicate intention. Even if I happen to have Head On, I can't explain to someone that if they lead the save, I can get in the locker and bust out into Bubba while he's swinging. If the camped guy has DS and Soul Guard, or if they have Camaraderie and want me to run past shack, they can't communicate any of that to me. Anything more complex than "you go there" or "come here" doesn't translate and stopping a basement Bubba does require extremely coordinated and mindful execution.
Sure, we can unpack that.
- SoloQ is somewhere equal to or less than non-meta killer, depending on levels of exaggeration and personal experience, but everyone has the power to get into an SWF. Make a post on the forum and look for some new friends. If you're good, or getting better, there is a team for you. I don't really sympathize with the people who cry about the SoloQ experience, as it is strongly supported that BHVR balances around this subgroup and there are many tools to finding a lobby of equally skilled players that wish to communicate
- I refuse to believe people are running into camping Bubba as often as they say they are. I've run into 1 Bubba in the last week (He didn't camp, but that's irrelevant). There is a large roster of killers, and Bubba is not one that has any particular proclivity to any particular MMR threshold. If you run into CAMPING Bubba once every 20/30/40/50, whatever the actual number of games it really is, and not the misrepresentation we see on the forums, does that really spoil your entire day? Put yourselves in the Bubba's shoes, there's a reason he's playing like that and it often has to do with having a very bad day and wanting to actually secure some kills
- Everyone who wants Bubba nerfed or 'reworked' in any sense of the word can put a pin in it until the killer role gets some love. He is not the problem with this game, not by a longshot
- Stretch thought: Yes his power makes camping VERY strong, albeit still not unbeatable, but camping isn't unique to him. There are plenty of killers who can camp very well, and sometimes the difference is negligible and the survivors will feel like their is no hope of saving the 4th person and that this is "uninteractive". It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose, and this scenario (Camping Bubba) is one of the few scenarios in the game where that understanding actually favors the killer

There is nothing fun about camping or being camped, what are you smoking bro. Also I'm "Abusing" other killers because I don't like being instadowned and having to wait over a minute of a leatherface nodding at me only to then wait another 10 minutes to get into another lobby. Did you miss the part where I said I "This is all coming from a killer main" A KILLER MAIN FINDS HIM UNFUN AND BORING.
Also if you get a down early, it's a 2k at least because there's no way all 5 gens will get done unless it takes him a while to get a down.
You missed the satire in my post. That's on you.
You called 2k guaranteed, it's not. You redefining the circumstances to a survivor going down early, after the fact, still does not make it guaranteed, although, I'm sure you'd love to maintain the illusion that camping bubba simply can never be outplayed, ever. My issue here is with your choice of words. Throwing around words like 'Guaranteed' and 'Literally' without full grasping what they mean is a common problem with this community.
I don't care that you're a killer main. I also don't care that you think camping is unfun for everyone, because it's been proven time and time again that this isn't the case. Many people camp because they derive enjoyment from seeing survivors squirm. Judge it all you want, I still won't care.
You are not a monolith, and neither are your opinions.

In order?
-I'll give you that one.
-I wouldn't call it fear. Spooky Myers is fear, or Plaything when you're a one-tap. Basement Bubba is exasperation, because you know no matter what that this game is going to be uninteractive. I'm not afraid of ending up in the basement, I'm aggravated because I'm obligated to waste the next two minutes of my life with a guaranteed outcome. Also, you say stealth, but one teammate immersing automatically dooms the rest of the survivors. Basement Bubba forces survivors to gen jockey like their lives depend on it, because they do. If 3 gens aren't done by the time the first survivor expires, GGEZ and maybe someone gets hatch.
-Implying he ever leaves the basement when somebody isn't mucking around directly upstairs, gates power and NOED activates, or his current victim dies. That's not how it works. There is no guessing game. They don't leave.
-I see a spread of kills in my games anyway... and considering I play solo queue, Basement Bubba is an immediate 3k with hatch/4k if a single teammate doesn't know what they're supposed to do. And it's solo queue, so there's always at least one. But I digress; 0k is only possible if the Bubba literally does not know how to play the game and never manages to down anybody, or nonstop hits on hook so that survivors can slip in and save between cooldowns. When he has a down, Bubba has to overtly ######### up in order to lose it.
-There's a major difference between being a power role and what Basement Bubba does. If this game was just pure "do gens" or "stare at a wall for two minutes", nobody would play it. There's minimal interaction or excitement. This playstyle is only mildly more engaging than having an AFK killer, because it completely removes every aspect of survivor choice. You loop and try to go down away from the basement or you're screwed, you slam gens or you're screwed, you run to the gates and hope he checks the other one first with his NOED or you're screwed. About the only binary choice that exists is whether to wait at gates or look for hatch; everything else is a rigid playbook where if you or any of your teammates fail to adhere to it, everyone dies. If someone kills themselves on hook, you all die. If someone tries to save, you all die. And if you make it out, it was a bum game where you didn't get to do anything entertaining or earn any bloodpoints. The only situation where you get to have a chase and also survive is if the Bubba just bought DBD today, or if you did a couple of rounds around a jungle gym while somebody else opened the gate and then tbagged out.
Like, if a killer finding you meant instant death, they'd be a power role and nobody would want to mess with them, but that doesn't mean it would be good design. They got rid of old moris for a reason. They got rid of bodyblocking the basement for a reason.
Whether or not anything should be done about him, I don't really know, but I strongly disagree with the notion that facecamping Leatherface is healthy. It creates a profoundly uninteractive game on both sides that no matter what has a guaranteed 0% satisfaction rate for four of the five players - or if there is any satisfaction, it doesn't come from gameplay, but rather schadenfreude and vindication, which aren't really sentiments that should be encouraged. And from the one player that is having fun - every basement Bubba I've met minus maybe two, the impetus of them doing it was specifically to farm salt off the survivors, which isn't healthy or something to be encouraged either.
There's a lot of opinion in your response, and I can respect that, I don't expect everyone to see eye to eye with me. But let's talk about interactive.
Me and my friends encountered a camping Bubba, he got the first hook late, because the survivor did what they were supposed to and pre-dropped every pallet and it's mom. So we have a single sacrifice state left with all gens done, and we spent a good 15 seconds theory-crafting how we were going to save this guy. It was a full on military operation, complete with flashlights, endurance perks, distractions, and what ended up being a very mad dash to the exit gate by four survivors screaming their heads off in discord.
'Interactive' is subjective, and often less limiting to those who choose to not look at everything in this game like it's binary.

Mathiu apparently said in an interview "We want killers to be fun to play as and against" Well you fumbled the ball on Leatherface! There is nothing fun about him due to him having the easiest time camping you the second you get hooked removing your ability to play all together.
To all the people who'll say "Just do gens it's not that hard" how about you try sitting on the hook and doing a ######### gen! Not to mention that this style of play is a GUARANTEED 2k.
Due to the fact the crappy mmr system doesn't go off points gained but instead escapes and kills, these TERRIBLE players rise through the mmr while the people they killed get sent down to deal with more camping and tunneling killers. But once that killer starts losing, they're back down to the same level and getting to push more people down mmr because they can't defend a gen to save their life.
This is all coming from a killer main, and I want him gone. Hell take his perks too so long as it means I don't have to walk away and do something else since I'm just going to be camped anyways.
You misunderstood Mathiu. He means the fun is balanced like the MMR, where as long as it's net 50/50 happiness then it is balanced. Leatherface camping is 100% fun for killers, your fun comes from a mix of abusing every other killer on the roster minus Nurse, Spirit, and Blight.
Edit: Also it's not a guaranteed 2K. Stop making ######### up it's not a good look.
-
I personally think Insidious Basement Bubba is healthy:
- Much different playstyle from rest of roster
- True fear if you're caught first, bigger benefits of immersion and stealth
- Will he stay in the basement? Will he come out? Will the non-SWF survivor fall into his web of deceit and treachery? These are all portent realities
- Very real spread of 0, 1, 2, 3-4K based on logic tree of killer and survivor, as opposed to the almost binary 0/4 we commonly see.
- INSTANTLY exposes salty survivors who don't like the killer being a power role for even a single game
-
100% down to see a hint regarding camping at loading screen.
-
Nothing is going to stop me. I'm going to master the most OP characters and make every toxic survivor miserable, and then when they come to the forums to cry into their echochamber I'm going to relish their tears a second time around.

There really isn't a way for any system to differentiate between if it is a connection dropped on purpose or not. Which is why companies use a Blanket penalty system in the first place. Packet flow stops = Connection lost. I could use my "network tools software" to fake a DOS on my own network and it would look like it is a malicious attack from someone else and still get around it that way. Even if they did have some sort of detection. Which most of their network technicians would already know this, so that is why they use a "blanket" penalty system. Since it could be an easily fabricated circumstance. (not saying more on this technique either).
---
I've been DOS'd on here a couple of times when using the game both on Server side and plenty, back when this game was P2P. I have also been DOS'd when Playing Overwatch and after a lengthy Blizzard customer support ticket, the actions of the offending party were quite clear.
Most companies don't want to talk about it So other people do NOT follow suit and do this type of bad behavior, because there are always vulnerabilities and the less others know. The better. I could go into great lengths on how it is done, but again. I think that this system does need a change, or more folks will fall victim to these attacks and eventually Q times will be even more compromised.
Often times these vulnerabilities aren't even in the engine itself but the hardware itself being used in data centers. As well as what we are seeing is not on the game companies being hit, but player's networks on OLD OUTDATED hardware from their very OWN ISP. In my town they are STILL using old outdated 2600 from Cisco, in parts of their network racks. VERY SLOW and boggy. With plenty of security issues.
And hardware firmware patches are ignored for that stuff,. Which often takes MONTHS to years for patching out. Cisco being one, that does NOT move as fast as they claim to. So Data centers are often stuck with old switches and routers. That is because of the price tags. Especially since new switches and routers run up price tags of 80k each, . Just pulling up their latest N9K-C9508-B2. is about 82k. and if I was administrating a network that size. I'd probably have more than 1, and then extra 9364C's as backbone headers to each rack. So about 30k per rack.
------
but rest assured my statement on Behavioral based ranking being implemented would be the only easy solution to this. It would remove the penalty, and yes, at the start. It would not be fun for the first 10 or 20 matches. But afterwards. A person would climb the algorithmic-al mountain and no longer have to deal with people that terminate their connection to a match. Plus it would keep data center leasing contracts lower in costs and from a business stand point. Reduce overhead.
Think you misunderstood the goal of my previous post. I'm not talking about differentiation via anything other than frequency. @Pulsar said he was DDOS'd once a week on XBOX. While I doubt that, even if he was that would only translate to about 5 minutes worth of DC penalty a week, providing he's not also additionally rage quitting and DC'ing intentionally. That's more than acceptable to me.
The other issue I have with your proposed system, is all it sounds like to me is an easy way for players to tank their ranking and abuse lower ranked people.
Unless you're talking about this Behavioral based ranking being a separate ranking from the MMR, which I would also be against as this game, while healthy, still does not have a population that supports multiple population divisions.

Except those penalties stack.
If it were just 5 minutes, that'd be one thing.
But you can get penalties that last DAYS
That could be a case for shortening the penalties, sure. Turning them off? Still a hard no from me. There could be a middle ground that can tell the difference between someone who DCs too often and someone who's the victim of DDOSing, as it is extremely unlikely that you're going to be DDOS'd with that kind of consistency. In fact, I wouldn't believe that claim from anyone short of a mega-popular streamer without documented proof laid out first.

So you think it's acceptable that people are being punished for something they did not have any control over?
Good to know.
Don't put words in my mouth, you're better than that. I think it's a harder choice than you all like to posit, and I'm certain you read my earlier post where I outlined that choice. Far more people would have games ruined by DC'ers than by DDOSers.
And let's just say you are being DDOS'd, and you get disconnected, and take the penalty. That penalty is minutes, would you really try to play another game if you're still being DDOS'd?
-

There's only two ways forward.
Either BHVR stops punishing innocent players for DC'ing when there's a hacker (or being forcibly disconnected)
OR
They disable the penalties.
I disagree. Not based on any intellectual merits, but simply because you proposed an ultimatum that is false. They can leave things as are, which is the most likely course of action, and just so happens to be what I think is the most logical.
Obviously I would love them to protect our IP addresses more, but that would be icing, and honestly expecting too much from them.
-
Cool story.
-
Several people quoted my first post. I'm just going to say this, you all have too much faith in the population of DC'ers if you think turning off the DC penalty will yield any eventual, corrective action on the behaviors of the people who have exploited the lack of a penalty in the past.
Full stop.
@InnCognito said:
sooooo, how is this really solved? Keep penalties and keep giving DOS hackers a reason of disrupting player's games?
O_o
You need to understand how damning the ramifications of turning it off are. It is anecdotal, but I average a DC every 3-4 games. When the penalty was off, I averaged 2 DC's per game. I'm certainly not the nicest killer, but that is an extreme amount of people simply sabotaging their team because they felt personally slighted. If you look at the numbers of people who employ DDOSING versus people who will abuse the lack of a DC penalty, the appropriate action is definitely to keep the penalty enabled. Far more games will be salvaged.
-
No. Removing the DC rule would be abused beyond reason. I already have survivors intentionally DC'ing to repeatedly deny my Myer's 4 Kill Tombstone achivement.
I get where you're coming from, but removing the DC penalty invalidates large portions of this game.
Edit: There is still leverage if the penalty no longer exists. That current game is ruined.

It's been mentioned several times in passing, but no-one really has the balls to suggest it be nerfed or fixed if the other snowman issues are fixed, as Slinger is in such a poor spot you kind of have to live in a fantasy world to suggest nerfing him, even if only indirectly through an event.
-
I think it should stay as is. It's nice to daydream about interesting QOL changes, but survivors using hook graves to outplay the killer is rare enough, and impactless enough (They're already losing if they have 1-3 grave hooks to work with) that I don't think it should be altered. There are bigger QOL changes that killers need right now.
-
I see a lot of people going the traditional "It's not my fault I got tunneled, it's the killers fault route." And "But I can't do gens or heal while it's activated."
To the former: You're cute, keep trying to shame the killers that's a fantastic way to earn their support.
To the latter: Maybe BHVR has a very specific definition of what being tunneled is, and if you find yourself in a position where you might even think about deactivating it, you're not being tunneled.

Yes, because MMR says so much about a players skill.
Did you start the game yesterday? Because it’s common sense that if someone is getting camped you don’t have any time for totems, just “bang out gens” as you like to say.
Even if the killer isn’t using NOED, it’s still not easy to deal with. By the time everyone knows the person is getting camped they have already reached 2nd stage which is such a time waster. You can’t do anything about it since you can’t tell your teammates that you are getting camped.
@burt0r already explained why you're wrong on this one. Solo's have multiple communication tools for camping.
Do you just magically assume the first person starts on hook when the game launches? It's always weird how people start that example like there isn't possibly enough time to do anything but gens if the killer is camping. Feel free to pre-drop pallets, take a protection hit for the tunelee, run detectives hunch and remember the spawns of 3 totems in case there is a noed, and track the Killers perks to see if you can identify all 4.
It is bizarre how lazy your arguments are. You know, given the name of this thread.

Bang out the gens and walk out the gates you say? Tell that to 4 solo survivors and a killer with NOED.
You can only deal with camping if you are in a swf with the right perks.
No, you're wrong. You like to phrase things in absolutes like you know what you're talking about and it's old hat.
- Plenty solo's who have half a brain bring Detective's Hunch, bang out 2-3 totems, and memorize the last 2 in case that NoEd goes off
- Plenty solo's can pre drop pallets long enough that the last gens are already popping in the event they are camped
- Not all camps magically equal a pending NoEd, regardless. These are not mutually exclusive playstyles, although if you're facing camping NoEders often I'd be concerned about your quality of play. At that point it says more about you than the Killer
Even in solo queue you will find survivors mentally equipped to bang out gens and walk out the gate, it's not some unicorn. You know, unless you're really bad at this game and in the MMR basement.
-
If Billy can identify that survivor who doesn't see him enough to deal with his chainsaw, he can have a really good time.
I honestly have no clue how a Billy can handle this game if that survivor doesn't exist, when I spend some time working on the chainsaw achievement some squads are literally untouchable, and that's after I've gotten quite comfortable with the turning weirdness.

Not a toxic mindset, but the truth.
We all know that a killer that can 4K without camping and tunneling is better than someone who needs these “strategies”.
And Jesus… you will most likely die if the killer is tunneling/camping. You don’t even get a chance to try. Even the best players die to campers.
'We all know', big yikes.
A 4k is a 4k, according to the MMR. How it is achieved does not matter, despite your attempts to sway the public discourse that the things you don't like are skilless.
In fact, I would say a killer that 4K's while camping must be doing something right, because I do not see survivors rolling over for that gameplay and freely give them kills. They bang out the gens and walk out the gates. And if they are rolling over, then maybe your issue is with survivors, not killers.

Regardless of the point, 90% of this forum is killers crying
1) You were not the person I was trying to point the tongue and cheekiness of this thread to.
2) You clearly missed the point too and I suggest you take the advice in my first post.
3) @Cantelope already summed up why you're a forum potato so after you realize this entire thread is satire, run along.

The irony of saying survivors whine all of the time when that's EXACTLY what you're doing in this post.
My dude. You clearly missed the point of this post. I suggest you scroll through the general forums a little.

Survivors are lazy
When the killer doesn't want to be an animator for them and just kills, they immediately run to the forum to complain
The devs give them another killer nerf
After that, the survivors play even worse.
The child begins to kill them
After that, they go to the forum, whine, and they are given totems
My man knows how to play the game. But when is that second round of Pig and Deathslinger nerfs coming in? If they don't arrive soon survivors going to be saying "See, BHVR is killer sided."

Nowadays killers just never leave their first hook, it’s like why even play killer if you’re not gonna chase anyone else and just babysit your hook? Not even that, instead of chasing the unhooker they chase the unhooked. Had a nurse tunnel me all game and it cost her a 4 escape. Why do killers play like this? When they play like this I have no sympathy for being a jerk to them at the gates
Nah. And you flexing your e-peen about a single game does not make the claim valid, either.

You can report for AFK yes, as it's not normal gameplay.
You don't require video proof for this one?

The obvious suicide aka kill isn't the in the killers favor? lol...
No, not if it holds the same meritlessness as a traditional bleed out, which again you provided no real clarification other then the very implicit stretch that we should know what you mean by suicide.

Where am I trying to reach by saying if you're slugged and already have 3 crows on you or if everyone is slugged you should be able to suicide?
There is no indicator in that message that there should be any scoring in the killers favor.

Title literally says "suicide" which would mean a kill...................................................................................................................
Yeah, no, without any additional context that's a shameless reach. Because again, even a kill and a sacrifice are scored differently.

Do you realize that the "suicide" option would count as a kill right?
Edit: A comment that wasnt directed at me, on my thread, about it being or not on the feedback session.... alright buddy.
A kill, or a sacrifice, and is there somewhere on this thread where you even remotely elaborated beyond the function 'ending the game'? If it counts as a sacrifice and the entity erupts out of the ground, I think you'd have a lot more people stomaching the suggestion, but you spoke in sweeping generalities.
Not an edit: Your comprehension issues are a personal problem, sorry, buddy.

Are you on my thread with the intention on adding an intelligent comment or just keep on malding? Bad day?
The 'Intelligent' rebuttals have already been put forth. You're asking for nuanced code for a hyper-specific situation that doesn't account for everything else that falls under this umbrella:
- Easily abusable, as already stated
- What if the killer genuinely just lost track of the survivors, does he now no longer have the right to sufficient time to find them?
- What about survivors who use this to deny hook states and for no other reason?
The funny part is I'm only still here because of your nonsense responses to a comment I made that wasn't even directed at you. You are not arguing in good faith and that's why no one is taking you seriously. There are in game perks already dedicated to this. If you refuse to use them you are implicitly consenting to the possibility of experiencing a game mechanic that BHVR, to date, allows and approves.

I never said it was feedback, that's why I added "", not my problem that you don't seem to think logically. Do better next time, since you also didnt seem to read my post at all. I'm welcoming intelligent discussions not "BrInG uNbReAkAbLe DuRr hUrR" comments. It even says in the main post.
Your suggestion isn't intelligent, nor is your ability to claim that other people are not making intelligent suggestions an automatic dismissal of their valid points.
Bring Unbreakable. Take a coffee break. Be good enough that you don't get slugged. Bring exponential. Run with better teammates.
During. Hurr.

It is as much of feedback as it is "nerf noed" so no, I didnt intent to post this on the feedback session.
So it's not feedback, and you were being intentionally misleading earlier?
Got it. Can't take you seriously, bring unbreakable next time mah dude.
