I'm not really sure how to post videos on here but the entire dead dawg saloon you cannot blink into or inside at all you stand still including dropping down floors or up floors and its not just this map, its happened (just not as severely) on every map with being dragged down a level more common, there are also a lot of objects like loops and debris on maps you cant blink through when it should including a lot of pallets, I even used plaid flannel to see if it was my blink aim and the flannel would show i would blink through something and I didn't. I understand that a lot of work went into the recode and BHVR works really hard on new fixes which i appreciate

but in my opinion id rather play the old buggy version than this one.

Please make sure you put this information in the proper section too, if the devs miss it and gut another killer I'mma lose my mind.

  • I wish the people who recorded these stats kept video logs so we could view the quality of their opponents.

  • @NastyBoyNat said:

Iv been playing nurse a fair amount in the PTB and these fixes completely broke her I'm really really hoping they wont go live with them because she is unplayable now, most maps have huge dead zones and her blinking is messed up.

Elaborate, or post a video? Dead zones imply it's static and that you can recreate the issue over and over.

Take buff or nerf out of it. It's literally the same thing as Dead Hard.

They are fixing something that wasn't working properly.

Okay, lets say I was willing to consider that angle. Do you genuinely think Nurses will get as much value out of the bug fixes as survivors do the DH Validation? Those bugs didn't happen every game, it could be 4,5,8 games without experiencing them. Dead hard validation however is kicking in multiple times a match in favor of the survivors. I'm still seeing a very apples to oranges comparison here.

  • @Pulsar said:

Nurse being fixed feels like Dead Hard being getting it's validation and being fixed.

Like yeah, it's good that they are working properly, but you just buffed the best perk/Killer that didn't need buffs.

Did you read the whole notes? Every single thing is to prevent false-information, her getting stuck on nonsense. This isn't equivalent to Dead-hard straight slapping the killers connection down. I do not believe she will become stronger from this, but she will be sabotaged by spaghetti code less.

Not considering the Nurse from DBD, PH with a Nurse is kind of canon. IIRC Silent Hill 2.

I picture the nurses from the silent hill movie, and just feel that kind of twisted is very appropriate for these two characters.

Example: David King is a survivor that is entirely based on harmful British and Mancunian stereotypes such as alcoholism, violent abuse, vulgar language, etc and it the perks also mock certain local phrases and must be renamed if behaviour surely do care about stamping hate out the game.

I find it very hypocritical when we're told that certain hate is more acceptable than other instances of hate.

It comes from a very privileged position to dictate what backgrounds of people have the right to be exposed to the very hate you set a precedent to remove from the game.

The amount of content creators (who you support) who spout "dead hard" in a Mancunian accent when they use the perk is beyond revolting.

I urge all players to refrain from talking for the duration that dead hard is not on cool down.

    Do I make myself clear?

Can you imagine the outrage it would cause if a player did some sort of African accent when they played a character from that part of the world?

Yet it's completely fine to discriminate, stereotype and mock the culture of Manchester (and harmful British stereotypes) and ascribe it to the survivor David King?

    You're reaching.

  • Camping is just the killer doing their objective. BHVR said it themselves, the objective is kills. Secure them as many and as fast as possible. Camping is a helpful tool.

I have 2500+hrs in this game, at this point, I've prestige all of my characters, even the ones I would never play. I've DC' d so many time that my DC ban is now 46 hours(it sucks, but it works), it's not worth the frustrations, I've uninstalled this game so many times, but i kept coming back, so hear me out:

Play like noob: don't equip any OP perks nor add-ons, so you wouldn't feel bad if you met sweaty SWF teams, they will feel bad.

Don't be toxic: Don't camp, you can tunnel, but be prepared for Decisive Strike. By giving the other player a chance, you're creating a better environment for the future.

Relax and enjoy this game like a it's your first time playing. Normally survivors will want u to hook and hit them so they're getting points and have fun.

Killer's victory is NOT killing everyone, it is to please the entity, remember.

    Have a good game.

    I thought this was a neat-o watch.

What this video doesn't go into detail about:

    • On the perkless runs he had matches that were so bad he couldn't do a damn thing and then the Survivors treated him like dirt in the post game lobby
    • He played incredibly sweaty in these matches. INCREDIBLY. He used tunneling and camping exactly when they should be and to their full extent. The kind of things that survivors would and do lose their minds over. Like, he goes into a little detail in this video about it, but you need to watch the matches
    • This is a very small set of data, from a killer who is VERSED in EVERY killer. I cannot state that enough. How many people here have every perk on every killer, and has tons of time on all of them? For me, picking up a killer like Blight is not an easy adjustment, I would have to spend several days. Otz can simply lock in the killer and run with it

People rail against this game because the overall experience is painful, not just because survivors are strong, or killers are strong. When people draw large conclusions from small sets of data, it's very unfortunate for the community.

  • @MikeyBoi said:

Fact: Hillbilly takes more mechanical skill to beat good survivors with engravings then nurse.

Did a nurse hurt you recently?

  • It single handedly removed the divide and conquer strat that encouraged not tunneling.

Don't get me wrong, I still try and split up my damage and take opportunity swings when I can, but if I hear the boon sound, I'm immediately tunneling without remorse.

I'm honestly fine with using it regardless if I can justify it through the cruelness of my fellow players. Even if people were perfectly kind, I'd still be using it. It's just one extra layer of 'I don't owe anyone anything.'

And yes I'm not lying when I say that I think it looks aesthetically better. I'm already admitting I also like the advantage it gives, why would I later have to lie about liking how it looks on top of that? I don't have to hide that I like it for functionality purposes. I like that extra head room. 16:9 feels claustrophobic as heck, and I know this is a horror game but after so many hours you just don't feel fear anymore. The gameplay loop is all that matters.

The amount of people that disconnect is baffling, either at the start of the game because they don’t like the map and/ or killer, or they were the first to go down 30 seconds into the match

the amount of DC’s I see daily it’s like there isn’t even a penalty, which leads me to believe that the current one clearly isn’t working

should there be a harsher penalty? BP deductions or just a longer ‘time out’ period, either way something needs to be done because this game has enough issues without having to deal with salty disconnecters every day that ruin the game for everyone else

First penalty is fine. Second should be higher.

'Everybody gets one', if you're not smart enough to realize your connection is bad, or that your DC habits are unhealthy, then you deserve the second one.

  • Almost never. I would say she's good but suffers from survivors understanding and outsourcing her binary power. Yes. Blight makes me a little too sweaty, artist keeps me in a good mood.

  • @Firellius said:

It's just "blink to where survivor is, get hit". Shouldn't there be a bit more thought for the strongest killer in the game?

I think you should play a bit of Nurse before you make a statement like this. The power is far more complicated, and if it was as simple as you say it is, we'd be seeing far more Nurses and far more complaints.

In reality, her power has a very loud call-out, which gives survivors plenty of opportunity to work against it. You can double back, for example, because the longer the charge is held, the further it blinks.

Additionally, removing the ability to go through walls but giving her 110% would ironically remove one of her best counterplays. I once lost a Nurse's chase completely by ducking around a corner and stopping on the spot once I saw the Nurse charge her power. I ducked back around the corner when she fired and she blinked to where she projected I'd be if I'd kept running, thus losing me completely.

Lastly, I think Nurse is the killer that should be touched the least. It's a very fragile, lightning-in-a-bottle situation with her balance and I think she's generally regarded as a really good part of the game.

I don't always agree with you.

But you did good here and in calling out some nonsense on the statistics thread.

    Have an upvote.

One swallow does not a summer make.

Two campers does not a national park make.

    Here's a few things though:

    • When you say 'camped', do you mean facecamping or simply protecting the hook?
    • Camping does penalize killers when they facecamp. BHVR wants to do more to discourage this, but it's tricky to get right.
    • Proxy camping (ie. defending the hook) is completely legitimate and the devs have confirmed as much.
    • If someone is camping, just do gens. It sucks, but it is what it is.
    • If you are really concerned about campers, bring Camaraderie. It basically hard counters the strat.
    • A lot of killers are rather fed up right now. Watching Otz doing his 'no perks no addons 30 seconds wait' games today made me realize just how nasty survivors tend to be when they win. And this is versus one of the biggest DbD streamers around. Combine this with the DH buff and boon shenanigans (boonanigans?) and yeah - after you get multiple games in a row where you try to be nice, get punished for it and then get told to uninstall in postgame, you tend to be out for wins no matter what.

Dude I'm watching the Otz replay now, and holy cow, I thought the hate I was getting from survivors was an isolated event but its just everywhere.

It’s just that, she’s been nerfed many times over the years and has never moved from number 1, so will reducing the lunge do much really? I’m sure there’s something we can do to make her more balanced and make 3.85 movement speed unnecessary but it’s going to be hard to do.

Why is it wrong for her to be number 1?

My example just curbs her player base if the QOL we're never going to get comes around.

    Let her be the ceiling.

  • @GannTM said:

I feel like giving killers some QoL improvements would make Nurse over the top which would be terrible. I guess I don’t want her nerfed to the ground but I just don’t know what to do with her.

Tons of options, if she got over the top all they would have to do is reduce her lunge so that Nurses would have to be that much better with their predictions and lunges. That's just a random example though, I'm sure there are other things that can be done.

Hello! As we enter 2022, I thought it would be cool if I did a brief explanation of where I think every killer stands currently. I’m not really going to be suggesting that many changes I think can be made to killers, just addressing my opinion on them. Let’s get started though!

TRAPPER: His last buff was helpful and made him feel better to play. However, there are still many things holding him back from being a good killer, like slow setup time, RNG nature of trap spawns, and hard countered by comms. Also DHing through traps shouldn’t be a thing. All the last buff did really was remove the add on dependent nature of his kit, which was certainly an improvement but there’s still some work to do.

WRAITH: Not sure what the devs were thinking when they nerfed his lunge. He was a “wee bit overpowered” after all. I thought he was perfect before the lunge nerf. Overall though, I think he’s in an ok spot right now and I wouldn’t say he’s a joke anymore like back in the day.

HILLBILLY: Who is this killer? Never heard of him. Jokes aside, it’s really sad what they did to our poor Billy. Arguably the most well balanced killer in the history of the game and then got handed the most unnecessary nerf ever. I never see him anymore and it’s really sad. Please give Billy some love, he’s in a horrible spot right now.

NURSE: This is the only killer in the whole game where I actually wouldn’t care if the devs just straight nerfed to the ground. This killer doesn’t follow the rules of the game and is as imbalanced as a seesaw with bricks on one side and a feather on the other. As long as she’s viable in her current state, killers will never get QoL improvements, so please just delete her.

HUNTRESS: One of the most well made killers in the game. Skill cap is sky’s the limit and there’s reasonable counterplay for the survivors. Hitboxes may be a problem with her hatchets but honestly, it’s just whatever. She should 100% stay the way she is at.

SHAPE: Our first licensed killer and I think he’s very accurate to the films. He definitely needs some buffs though as he’s an outdated killer that hasn’t really been changed that much since his release. Iri add ons are pretty ridiculous, not sure how they have survived for as long as they’ve had.

HAG: I really hate Hag. Just not a fan of her and most Hags play the camping play style. In terms of how I think she stands in the game, I think she’s fine other than the camping. I do think COH destroys her because she can’t really commit to chases. Nerf COH and nerf her camping please.

DOCTOR: I really like Doctor. I understand people’s perspectives on not liking playing against him but I find him fun to play as and against. Not much to say about him really other than I think he’s balanced and in a good spot.

CANNIBAL: People really hate Bubba for some reason. I get the facecamping can be annoying but like, it’s just an unfortunate thing that Bubba has going for him. He’s a well designed killer and I think he’s one of the more fun killers to loop imo. The last rework was really helpful to him as he used to be awful. Don’t really have much to say negative about him now other than the camping.

NIGHTMARE: I’m sorry GeneralV, but whenever I play as and against Freddy, I get put to sleep irl. Everything about him just screams underwhelming. Bring back old Freddy!!!

PIG: Honestly needs massive changes. There’s too much RNG that goes into her kit, stealth is terrible, and her ambush is underrated but still lacks in a few ways. She must receive buffs and have less RNG and I think it would be healthier for the game. Or you could just nerf her again because she’s OP.

CLOWN: Honestly his name describes him perfectly. He is a ######### clown. Clown mains, are you guys doing ok? I’m genuinely concerned for y’all. This killer is terrible and really needs massive buffs. An extra bottle that gives you two stacks of PWYF for a few seconds doesn’t help Clown out of the basement of irrelevancy at all.

    SPIRIT: 🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘😍😍😍

LEGION: Sigh. Honestly, I really don’t understand how Legion is even as popular as they are. With all the cosmetics they have, you’d think the devs would do something to make this killer not a slob to play as and against. Thankfully the OG version of Legion is gone and I never got to play against that, but honestly, Legion right now still sucks in so many ways and really needs changes. No downing potential and basically doesn’t have a power if survivors just play the game correctly.

PLAGUE: I like Plague a lot. She’s not one of my favs but I think she has potential and has one of the highest skill caps in the game. The last buff she received was great and it makes her feel better to play. She’s in a great spot now and don’t really think she needs much changes at this point. Also, when I play Plague, what is Circle of Healing again?

GHOSTFACE: I don’t really have a strong opinion on him. I guess he’s fine but I would like to see some buffs to his kit that make him less reliant on recovery add ons. Fix the reveal mechanic though. It’s so stupid getting revealed through walls and not revealing while staring right at him.

DEMOGORGON: Such a shame really that we lost the ST license. I assume we won’t see much of him as time moves on considering that you can’t buy him anymore. He’s a great killer for the game. I haven’t really seen one person complain about him because he’s just overall balanced, fun to play as and against, and is just a good boi.

ONI: I absolutely suck with Oni. If I do stream on Twitch in the future, don’t ask me to play Oni because I’ll be embarrassing myself for 10-15 minutes. My personal skill aside, I think Oni is a great killer and is balanced for both sides. I wouldn’t say he’s super unique but I guess the blood orb mechanic is something new we’ve gotten. Don’t really have much else to say considering I never see him as survivor and don’t play much of him. Oh wait there was something I wanted to add about Oni: he is Spirit’s grate grate grate grate grate grandfather so I wonder how he feels about me marrying her.

DEATHSLINGER: Guys, he really wasn’t that problematic before. Not saying you didn’t have to like playing against him because I certainly didn’t, but this past nerf was incredibly stupid and just ruined him. I liked playing Slinger at times before but now, I just can’t. Quick scoping was the fun part about him and they should’ve kept that in and just give him the slowdown after cancelling ADS.

EXECUTIONER: He’s a little janky but I don’t really see much of an issue with PP head. He’s not the most pleasant to go against but it’s honestly not that bad. I don’t really have much else to say really other than his add ons suck so hopefully we see an add on pass at some point in the future.

BLIGHT: Terrific job BHVR. Probably the most well designed killer of all time. I would say he’s an S tier killer but he’s an S tier killer that has counterplay, a skill cap, and is overall healthy for the game. Add ons and perk combinations can be stupid but overall, BHVR did an excellent job with Blight and I’d love to see more killers like him.

TWINS: What in the actual ######### did you do to this killer? I mean BHVR just tore their limbs off, bashed them in the face a few times, threw them in a volcano and just forgot all about them. Honestly, I know I may hate playing as and against Twins but just please give them something. I really hate seeing a killer in this horrible condition so please can we see some kind of love for them? I salute to all you 3 Twins mains for keeping them barely remembered.

TRICKSTER: Seriously, I mean this in the nicest way possible, but ######### you. That’s my opinion on Trickster.

NEMESIS: He’s ok. Just wish they made him a little bit more faithful to RE as he’s just uninspired. The RE chapter as a whole was just a complete disappointment and Nemesis was one of the reasons. Let’s get a whole redo on the chapter and make Nemesis like he was in RE 3!

CENOBITE: Ah yes, the start of the whole NFT scandal. Still absolutely disgusted in BHVR for getting involved with that. In terms of gameplay, Pinhead is a very well designed killer. He’s fairly unique and gives the survivors a secondary objective which is what they need. His skill cap is also high, just wish the reward was a bit better.

ARTIST: Everyone knows my relationship with Spirit, but Artist is as close as a killer can come to Spirit’s level. I’ve been playing Artist a ton since her release and she is way too fun. I feel like there’s so much you can do with the crows and I do think there’s counterplay from the survivor side. Even if a bunch of people don’t like her, I love her. She’s incredibly fun to play and whenever I face her as survivor, it’s usually a fun experience regardless of what others think when playing against her.

I disagree with the premise that Nurse is the reason we cannot get some QOL. Most of the QOL we so desperately need wouldn't really affect Nurse, due to the extreme nature of her gameplay loop.

I agree with most of the rest, but you're a little extra on some killers >:(

Suck it up? Something a bully would say, so I'd instantly realize they weren't worth talking to in the first place.

With enough time restrictions regarding the activation of the button, the killer won't lose any time necessary to find a downed survivor. While, yes, a survivor gets something to do with griefers who intentionally drag the game. You also keep forgetting that I mention the AFK option if a suicide button scares killers so much.

Yes, you understand now. With enough restrictions we are back to the original timer, as it should be, because the game cannot decipher intent.

I didn't forget it. It's just not a valid option worth considering. It's a frivolous piece if code so that you can imaginarily slight the killers ego. BHVR needs to focus on real issues. Not blood point taxes and afk notifications because the killer didn't play the way you wanted them to play.

  • @SpitefulHateful said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2720987#Comment_2720987

    • If the button timer is delayed for every survivor hooked + the downed survivor can't crawl and press the F button simultaneously + slow progress bar + (hopefully) BHVR doing something about the noise bug, the killer has enough time to find them and hook them too.
    • It's funny how refusing to simply swallow the BM and become someone's doormat instantly leads to those "who hurt you" talks)) I'm a solo survivor and a pretty damn selfish one thanks to SWF squads. So they don't get any love and support from me in trials, and if they teabag and grief or try to give me directions, I ignore them, do my objectives and hope to leave the trial. A BMer is a BMer, survivor, or killer.

What you're saying is you believe that the survivor should be able to suicide based on some arbitrary delay. What I'm saying is I want the remainder of their slug timer/EGC to make a genuine effort to find them. Why do I lose that time because someone else was griefing you? On any other thread people would be telling you to suck it up and they'd never think twice to look at your response. I'm giving you the benefit of a doubt.

    • Let's see about tracking intent. If none of all remaining survivors is hooked in a certain period of time, the option to suicide appears. After the killer hooks a survivor, he delays the timer. So, a normal killer has enough time to find and hook all downed survivors, while survivors get to end the game sooner when dealing with a BMing chimpanzee.
    • Oh, but they do care. Why else would they follow a downed survivor, nodding and mocking, staring them down until they bleed out? They want an audience and they know that the survivors have just to endure it. So, I can see why it pisses people off. I'm against creating a punishment for killers because normal players would get hurt, but I am all for an option to at least show the killer that the player is inactive and it's their digital husk they're dancing to.

Again, when there is one survivor left who has used his 30 seconds on the ground to elude the killer, how does the system determine that the killer is genuinely looking for this survivor or not? I am not the only person who has brought up this scenario, I don't even think I'm the first person to do it on this thread. Every way you've defined it, that elusive survivor gets to circumvent the EGC, suicide, and deny the killer the remaining slug timer to hook them.

I'm not sure who hurt you that you are so honed in on ending slugging BM, but I hope you are as sympathetic to the killers that get railroaded every game by Seal Team 6 SWF Squads. Which, by my reckoning, is as rare as the Bubba footstomping you outlined earlier.

    • Never encountered this bug in my runs. It's not the intended part of the game and the killers are *supposed* to be able to find downed survivors. That's on BHVR.
    • The option to suicide can be not instant - for example, done with pressing and holding a button for some time (something akin to "recover" when downed, but with slower bar progress). So, if the killer deliberately wastes the time necessary for the option to appear and then lollygags some more, the survivor gets to end it because it was obvious that the killer had no intention of hooking them in the first place. If the killer leaves a downed survivor for a chase, that survivor is usually picked up by others. If the last standing survivor is the only one that remains, the killer can down them, hook them, and will have enough time to come back for the previously downed one. If it's too hard for BHVR to option, at least the "I'm AFK, you joyless POS" notification would be nice.
    • OK, I get it the only way bullies don't get satisfied is when they're electrocuted on the spot or get clocked right in the head instantly after pulling their crap in the game. However, they get to enjoy themselves even more and for a much longer time if they know that the player is stuck with them and can do nothing except endure. So the players aren't obliged to contribute to their wank fest.

You are completely disregarding killers losing track of downed survivors, which absolutely happens, in favor of edge cases. They can lose track of them when other survivors are still alive, and they can lose track of them when its the last two and the non-slugged just went on the hook and they don't have BBQ. You are underestimating how easy it is to lose a survivor that had thirty seconds on the ground and does not want to be found. With the EGC interference, generator noise, ambient noises, it happens frequently and again, you have provided no reasonable means in which to track the killers intent.

I don't know why you're so hellbent on communicating to the killer your AFK. They don't care.

There's nothing more to unpack here.

    • I'm yet to see a survivor who managed to successfully crawl in the corner hide from a killer for the entire 4 minutes. They leave puddles of blood and keep making noises even with Iron Will, they get found and picked up eventually.
    • It's pretty easy to measure the intent of the killer. For example, when it's Undetectable Bubba who hooks one survivor, downs anyone who tries to unhook them, then goes for those who remain and spends the rest of the game walking after crawling survivors, pretending to stomp on them. It's very easy to measure.
    • As if survivors staying in the game and enduring won't get the bully's microscopic weenie all wet. In the AFK scenario, survivors aren't forced to be bully's doormats for the rest of the trial.
    • No, they don't. There's a well documented bug that causes them to make no sound which I've personally observed into the double-digits, and they stop leaving puddles once they stop moving in long, straight lines. It does happen. Especially if you're playing against uppity survivors and you have to slug a lot to make the game manageable
    • You're highlighting an edge case, how does the game know the killer is ignoring the survivor versus they just lost them because of another chase? You're making it convenient for a system that would be anything but, and you also need to keep in mind that the devs have already shown us that they struggle with the programming of their own game. Bugs, like the one I mentioned earlier, and others have been around forever
    • I answered your original point, denying bully satisfaction. I promise you, the bullys will still be satisfied

I'm not talking about punishing the killer. I'm talking about the way for survivors to just make it end without giving the bully the satisfaction - for example, getting an option to press the suicide button after some time of being downed or at least make some notification to let the douchebag know that the player is AFK and not here to participate in his masturbation session. I've never complained about camping or tunneling here or in the post-game chat. I don't teabag killers at the gate or even carry flashlights. But when it comes to slugging, I'd rather read a book or watch a video while waiting for my DC penalty to run out rather than stay in the game to entertain some pathetic sack of slime behind the keyboard.

But these suggestions punish all killers. A slugged survivor could hide, wait for some time for the suicide button to activate it and then deny the killer his hook.

How do you measure the intent of the killer who leaves someone slugged for any period of time, especially when the survivors have contrarian intents? You can't.

Also, a notification that I made a survivor literally disengage and afk from the game would provide me, a bully, with plenty of satisfaction.

How about not always making it an "us vs them" problem and throwing shade and contempt on the other faction? By umbrella not taking the survivor mains seriously you weaken your own voice considerably and sound like d-bag, even though you might be a totally nice person.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2719417#Comment_2719417

Wow, thats rough, but honestly I am not surprised. A quick fix could be that the slowdown only happens, if no other survivor is near, but knowing the number crunchers out there, someone would quickly cough up the optimal profit range for looping. Its sad that the high end competitive side of the game destroys so many good ideas and attempts to make it more accessible and fun for big swaths of the player base.

Dude, there's a reason people respond to certain people on this forum in an 'Us vs Them' manner. Because they are 100% biased, and most often in a way that is not event cognizant of the other side. This is Mileena's discussions:

    image.png

I highlighted the ones that were inarguably survivor sided. There's several people that do this nowadays, trying to troll the other side. They don't deserve your defense.

I'm a killer main, and I generally enjoy the role, however, I just played a match against a TTV that made me beyond frustrated that I immediately switched to survivor after only one match.

For context, this is a TTV in a 4-man SWF, I entered their chat, said my pleasantries and proceeded to load into the match. I'm Demogorgon, and we loaded into Haddonfield. So I already know that I'm not going to have a pleasant experience. For the entirety of the game, the survivors were very efficient, splitting up, doing gens, holding W incredibly early (which on Haddonfield.. bruh), body blocking for each other, using COH. Fine, all of these things can be frustrating for me as the killer, but the survivors should do these things, it helps them survive, naturally.

However, because of the nature of the map and how the survivors are playing, along with the fact that I'm Demogorgon with trash perks (Spies from the shadows, jolt, bitter murmur, BBQ) against their meta perks, I can't win by playing ''fair and nice'' as they put it. It's taking too long to down people because they're holding W on a survivor-sided map, so to apply pressure, I decide to camp hooks more and patrol. By doing this, I squeezed a 3K out, and yes, it wasn't interesting and I could tell it wasn't fun for them, but I did it anyway, because I wasn't going to allow myself to have 2-3 chases with zero kills by the time all the generators are done.

Load into the post-game chat, of course, everyone is salty, upset, toxic, and telling me that I face camped every hook and that I shouldn't have bothered to ''GL & HF'' in their stream if I was going to do that. I explained my position, got practically ignored with my reasoning and then told that I shouldn't face camp because X Y Z reason that wasn't even valid in a debate and that if I can't win without camping, that I should just accept my lose.

It's the sense of entitlement and double standards that makes me hate playing killer. Survivors expect killers to not play at their most efficient when they do so themselves, and that the killer merely exists for their pleasure and enjoyment. Forget about the killers enjoyment right? Let's bring COH, Haddonfield, Hold W extra early, meta perks, 4-man SWF with comms and then expect the killer to accept the bullying and loss.

Honestly, just have more sympathy for killers (and for the other side in general).

They won't (have sympathy). On this forum you will generally get very binary responses. It is what it is.

What you need to remember is that the other team does not get to dictate how you will play. Obey the TOS, and abuse everything else that you can so that the entity hauls their meatsacks into the sky as you watch from a beautiful, bloodied hill.

  • @SleepyWillo said:

Camping and tunneling (unless at endgame) is basically refusing to play the game and ensuring someone else can't play either.

MMR can't be blamed because if you try it at high MMR you'd be gen rushed and barely scrape a single kill.

If a killer is so bad and skill less that they have to use a tactic that would only punish bad players I have little sympathy.

That said, this is a game. No matter what happens in a game there is no justification for irl threats/insults.

I read all your posts on this thread, but this is the easiest one to respond to:

    • Camping and tunneling is playing the game, no matter how poorly you wish to frame it
    • You are underestimating how effective camping can be, even at high MMRs. All a killer has to do is make the appropriate bet "Are these altruistic solos, or an efficient SWF?" and it's not a hard bet to make, you know within the first 90 seconds what kind of team you're up against
    • If the killer is so bad and skilless, like you'd like to frame, then the onus is on the punished survivors to get better and reach high MMR like you incorrectly noted earlier - this is an asymmetrical game and you do not get to dictate how the other side plays. Especially if they're playing to win, within the confines of the TOS
    • We absolutely agree on your last point. Neither side should be acting like a 7 year old brat behind a veil of anonymity
  • Did you really not read the post I was responding to?

Because it’s a computer game that people are trying to play to have fun. The survivors being altruistic clearly know this and want some engagement in the concept of the game. A lot of killers clearly don’t understand this concept and take the game way too seriously and focus literally on kills and nothing else. It’s the reason this forum is full of so many whining killers because when they actually come up against good survivors they aren’t good enough to deal with them

A camping killer just wants engagement in the concept of the game, bro. A lot of survivors take it way to seriously and focus on 4E more than anything else. It's the reason this forum is full of so many whining survivors because when they actually come up against tactics that they can't 4E they just aren't smart enough to cut and run.

  • @Ionshatter said:

And I've got to say, I haven't had this much fun-stration since I was a first time Blight.

I would like to catalogue my observations and things that I've learned playing the other role.

    Warning, extremely long post.

Right off the bat I need to say that I was wrong about survivor. Watching you all play and do things really made me think the role was completely braindead, just holding mouse 1 on gens and holding W. But in reality that isn't true, some of the things survivors do is actually quite mechanically difficult, at least for me.

Leading to my second observation. Survivor is harder than killer mechanically when you first start out.

I've seen survivors 360, pallet tech, deadhard flash save, etc etc for so long from the other side that it really didn't seem that hard to do, especially in higher ranks because surprise everyone who's there (mostly) is decent at the game's mechanics. But trying to pull off half the ######### survivors do vs even low ranks with no experience from just seeing it, it's actually hard.

It's something that even now, just messing around in a corner during matches trying to consistently 360 which I consider a baseline tech seems impossible to me, how on earth do people moonwalk and all that? Killer is relatively straightforward mechanically when it comes to baseline stuff, m1, aim with your mouse, walk and strafe. EZ, anyone who's played a first person shooter would get it. Killers are responsive and move as you would expect. Survivors on the other hand? It's completely obtuse.

Survivor has a high skill floor and a lower ceiling, (most) killers have a low skill floor with a high cap on some.

Both roles are heavily limited by the games mechanics, such as:

Survivor movement is like tank controls. If you're on controller it's not as bad but man they aren't responsive to me when it comes to the simple act of moving. You have to use looking around, flashlights and your keyboard to do something as easy as turning in a tight circle. It's insane to me. But the actual objective is super easy, I'm getting decent at hitting those great skillchecks, and using windows of opportunity has helped me a lot in running killers. Aside from not getting 3 gen'd that's about everything I've had to deal with as survivor, the movement being the hardest part to understand.

Killers movement is pretty linear if you don't take powers into account. With powers things can get janky with Nurse, Billy, Blight, etc. Actually using the power itself effectively honestly isn't the hardest part about killer for me, it's the map control and chase efficiency, something I've been practicing for years and have gotten decent at. What really gives me the biggest issue mechanically is individual killers, not the role itself honestly.

And that brings me to my biggest criticism of DBD as a game from both sides, that we all universally have to deal with. And no, it's not balance.

    It's quality of life.

Genuinely across each role, killer, survivor I've played the biggest frustration is feeling neutered by the game itself, instead of your opponent, or not being able to enjoy yourself because you run into game jank. Examples like survivor's hidden movement mechanics that entirely change the power of your "kit", or the random camera locks on certain actions as killer. It's all so cumbersome and irritating.

What I would suggest amongst the swarm of balance complaints and community rage, is the complete and utter overhaul of the game's quality of life for both sides. I don't have as much experience with survivor so take that with a grain of salt, but god damn I have some stuff to say about killer.

    Survivor:

Solo que survivors should be able to see what the others are bringing for perks in the post game lobby to avoid perk overlap. Things like kindred or entire builds etc.

You should have some kind of indicator as to what speed of vault you are going to pull off, I know some people can just know from experience but I would never even know that was a mechanic unless someone mentioned it to me.

Movement should be less obtuse or feel better in general. I'm not a game dev so I don't know how to pull this off, but sometimes the slow ass turn speed of survivors just grates painfully, especially with you just sliding over the ground instead of actually animating the turn.

Killer instinct isn't explained to reveal you in lockers or at all really, probably should be somewhere.

There should be a mode where you can go to practice specific maps or movement tech with dummy killers that do things like attacks or powers etc.

The ability to turn down the freaking bloodpoint web in the main menu.

    Killer:

Please god remove camera locks on everything and anything that exists with the exception of specific killers like nurse, blight, and legion for balance reasons. Especially ones that are pointless, like the stupid up and down lock on twins when they switch, or the one from breaking pallets.

Crosshairs on every ranged killer. No I don't care, people just use an overlay or put a piece of tape on their screen. There's no excuse, especially considering trickster has freaking COD hitmarkers.

Those little areas on maps that you definitely can walk through but can't for some reason.

The giant screen warping bloom explosions on notifications either shouldn't persist for so long, or be see through.

Some way of differentiating survivors who are the same, example, 4 identical Claudette's

Audio bugs of all kind need to be fixed.

The ability to turn down the freaking bloodpoint web in the main menu.

I'm sure there's many many more things that could be changed with zero affect on gameplay that would make the game more fun for each side, feel free to leave suggestions if you can think of anything. TLDR is survivor isn't entirely braindead, and each side desperately needs quality of life for the fun of the game to improve, arguably over balance.

    Thank you.

I don't think you will find many killer mains who disagree with the majority of what you wrote. Well, not anything that isn't a "RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE MY SIDE MATTERS MOST" main, anyway, and you'll see those on both sides.

    • Survivor definitely requires skill
    • Playing as both roles is ridiculously important, if only for being able to witness with the other side gives you in response to your growth
    • QOL is definitely something both sides would benefit from

When you get down to the core of why many players want killer buffs it comes down to something like, "SoloQ will always have potatoes, you can fix that by joining an SWF, but you can't fix killer without BHVR intervention. Survivors get such a larger return on investment for effort and time spent learning the game than a killer will, unless it's a madman hellbent on being a flickmaster Blight, or a Nurse god.

No I didn’t say that where in my post did I say this was to show slingers health? I was told to play as slinger to see how my matches went and I felt he is not as bad as everyone made him out to be. I literally just said “I know 3 matches doesn’t prove anything”

I know you didn't say it. There's a reason they asked for recordings, not end game screencaps, and you demonstrated that you understand why you used screencaps instead of recordings. So, why are you jerking the thread around?

My first 15 Nurse matches went swimmingly, but I have no doubt that it wasn't any indication of my understanding of that killer, as I played against green ranked perk users with no exhaust or second chance loadouts.

What you did prove is that you know how to be deliberately disingenuous. The whole point of every DS anti-nerf thread is that he wasn't a high-tier killer, and now he's objectively worse and subjectively less fun to play as. Both those things still hold true.

1 … 31 32 33 34 35 … 41
