Yeah you're right I should change it to "The dead by daylight community"

Aaaaaand that would still be generalizing.

    Congratulations, you've learnt nothing.

Everyone knows hexes are a risk. You can’t pick where your totems spawn. Almost every time I get a killer (usually wraith?) who has devour hope, and sometimes ruin, the second it gets cleansed they get salty and start hard tunnelling and face camping. Why bring a hex totem if you can’t stand the risk of losing it?

I get it sucks losing a totem, but it also sucks when a killer stands on the hook and instantly downs you when you’re saved just because they’re mad about losing a totem that would have made the game difficult. It’s objective to cleanse hexes? Especially powerful ones like devour. And now you’re angry I did that? You’re mad I didn’t let you get insta downs and moris? Just had the third game of the day where a wraith camped my hook standing still and the second I got saved he downed me again just because I did his devour. It’s not always wraiths but I see it the most in that killer for some reason.

I know it isn’t even fun to just watch someone sit on hook, so it’s gotta be just spite and the desire to ruin the game for everyone else. Because you can’t win without devour/ruin?

He still managed to walk away with 30k blood points because no one wants to just sit on gens and leave after quing for 15 minutes. The whole gen rush counter is bull. Survivors are punished no matter what they do. It’s either try to actually play the game, which means attempting to get a risky save (since the killer won’t leave) and try to get chased, leading to most likely being face camped or slugged. The other option which is considered the counter to this is not enjoying the game at all and walk away with maybe 8k points from doing gens and leaving, wasting time you could be in another game actually having fun. Either way, not only do survivors not get any points from these matches, it is literally a waste of time.

I’m not saying camping and slugging and tunneling are toxic on their own. It’s one thing when killers tunnel and slug and hard camp for strategy, it makes sense a lot and if that’s the best way to win the game then it is what it is. But it’s obvious when it’s out of petty spite. Four gens and two hooks in you have to hit me off hook and immediately kill me because you lost a hex you decided to bring?

I just don’t think it’s fair how killers are rewarded for this game play and survivors are punished. We either get no blood points and no game play and live, or die and maybe get 2 seconds worth of any game experience. If we try to do the second option the killer walks away with a bunch of points. If we do the first the killer still mananged to achieve what he wanted which is ruin the game for everyone out of spite. Not all killers are bad or spiteful of course, and some play like that for tactic which I respect, but I hate the lack of punishment and power they have to just do that with little repercussion.

When I lose ruin and undying in the first 30 seconds yes, I tunnel. Wierd of you to assume my mood though, losing my totems does not mean I'm just going to give up and let you meat-sacs walk out the front foor.

  • @Sluzzy said:

Dead Hard already gives a much lesser distance compared to say Lithe or Sprint Burst. So it really already has a huge cost to having the few invulnerability frames that it has. It's a bit more of a skillful perk. The only frustrating thing is watching the survivor scream and then watching them run away. You didn't hit them but felt like it did. They are fixing that in the next patch.

It does nothing against 1-shot killers, leaving survivor with only 3 perks. That's a big downside already. Less distance. Not viable against 1 shot killers.

It does nothing against 1 shot killers before the first hook state.

Your baits are so much better when you don't outright lie.

You killer mains have lost my respect

You're crying over different colored leatherface masks that do... NOTHING

I've play thousands of games over the last two almost three years 100s of Bubbas and I've never seen those masks and you're crying that they are taking them out? Because of the "grind" when people have literally lost they're WHOLE account with every character lvl 50 and they still don't cry as bad.

You lost any chance of most of us killer mains taking your cry for attention seriously when you:

    1) Assumed it was only killermains

    2) generalized every single one of us

Inner workings of the game? You realise it’s been proven that all hits apart from things validated are killer sided. The devs even confirmed this.

So guess who’s the has no idea how the game works.

So guess who's the has? Rough.

You've either intentionally ignored several prominent threads over the last week discussing this topic, or like your faulty understanding of things like Pig's ambush, you lack the capacity to process information being spoon-fed to you.

Either way, the who's the has is still you.

  • @pizzadwelf said:

It's cheating, really obvious too, but who cares, as long as BHVR makes money right?

I can't with Dark Sense anymore. I don't even remember what it does, but, uh, it probably sucks.

DBD's Ghostface is a license of the mask, not the movie. The movie also licensed that mask.

Ah okay, I think I understand what you meant now.

Just because it's only the mask, it would still be a missed opportunity. Both the DBD Scream chapter and the upcoming movie can obviously feed off eachother, and since they're not actually related, DBD can do anything they want with the timing of sales. I absolutely believe the sale and the header are premeditated because of the movie.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2744987#Comment_2744987

But DBD's Ghostface doesn't actually have anything to do with Scream. You think they're working together now, maybe?

    It's a licensed killer, what?

  • @Ripley said:

Could be because Ghostface DLC is currently on sale.

Or the movie is coming out and it's an advertising ploy.

  • @Impartiality said:

You want equality? Okay let’s make every hit in the game and every vault validated by the server instead of everything else being killer sided.

Thats clearly what you want right?

Sometimes I just write you off as just being incredibly poorly versed in the inner workings of this game.

And then you manage to dig deeper.

These seeds can be tailored to create a fairer experience for both sides by eliminating unfair spawns of strong tiles linked together and also better spacing of tiles to eliminate dead-zones.

New and existing maps will not surpass a certain size. This is to encourage more interaction between both sides.

If you disagree with anything I have suggested, please let me know why.

If you have any other suggestions, please comment below and I will add them to the original post If I like the idea.

I don't disagree with all of these, but these fixes lack flavor. Deathslinger shouldn't be a 115% killer. He should be the ambling, stealthy gun-toting bastard he was designed to be. They need to fix him, not make him more like every other killer. Homogenization should be a crime.

Ik that's what I find so weird it feels like this game nowadays is either get stomped or stomp pototaes and idk how I feel about that

On a unrelated twice tonight I had a really weird game so I was playing slinger and I was doing something bad (read:camping and tunneling perhaps) and then mid reload animation my game crashed in two separate games right after I hooked someone

Felt bad cause I got hit by dc penalty :(

Camp and tunnel to your hearts content. If survivors always played for the win instead of like altruistic lemmings, and Killers always played for the win, instead of hook and forget toasters, BHVR would actually have real statistics to balance around.

  • @LoneSlinger said:

Damn ig nobody can relate to extremely unbalanced matches?

It's just the accepted norm. It's clear MMR cannot balance around potatoes. We either get them all, or we barely get one when the EGC collapses. There is no spread, just two extremes.

  • Drop the top 4 one tier each, raise Trickster one tier (his camp potential is absolutely insane, and I have a hard time believing he couldn't get an easy 3k every game if his pilots truly wanted one). Drop Ghost Face. MAYBE raise Plague 1.

Then i'd just about agree with this.

Survivors. And yeah, you might be like "but X is boring too". Thing is, so far, either people have been neutral towards it or actually had fun against it. Freddy was unanimously boring to face.

When an aspect of gameplay one piece of the community enjoys is "boring" for another piece of the community, that is code.

Freddy was super boring tho. Fun is a very important aspect when it comes to playing games.

    Boring for who?

  • Nurse, Blight, Pre-nerf Freddy, Pre-Nerf Billy, Plague, Post-Shred Buff Demo (That's still a thing, right?)

They have good powers, counterplay, and are just overall nice.

Edit: AND MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL PRE-NERF DEATHSLINGER. You filthy savages.

All survivors have are pallets, windows, and holding W, and she counters all of them.

This is the mindset that got Deathslinger irresponsibly nerfed, being applied to a different killer.

    30 straight L's.

I quit playing Killer normally (because it's no longer fun whether I win or lose) so I decided to try to play Killers I have never played before in hopes that it would be a fresh experience.

Apparently, that was a mistake because I've lost 30 straight games while trying to learn Nurse.

Do the people making this game understand how ######### demoralizing it is to get clicked at, t-bagged and generally treated like a joke for thirty goddamn games? I had someone send me a TWITCH WHISPER to "learn how to play Killer gg baby Killer."

I had hoped that my MMR would lower enough to the point where I might get people on my skill level, but apparently not. I'm getting the exact same perk set-ups and the exact same people as my first games. It's not even that my MMR is high, I'm just BAD at Nurse because I've NEVER PLAYED HER BEFORE. I can't aim blinks and can't land hits and I'm never going to be able to because my games are ending before I get to learn ANYTHING.

Is this a rant/vent post? yes. Am I pissed? yes. Is this meant to be taken seriously? not really. Am I close to not being able to find any enjoyment in this game. also yes.

I didn't have your experience when I first started nurse, but I LOADED UP on streaming gameplay. I watched several good nurses for hours, and then I went into a custom game and played point and click simulator for 3 hours. Doing both of those things was immensely helpful, and I found I was doing pretty well once I started playing real games. Survivors aren't going to give you learning opportunities until you're good enough to rip them out of their cold, blooded hands.

I actually have some information on how grabs work, as confirmed by I believe Peanits himself in an older thread, if you're interested in reading it!

This was, like, 2 years ago when the concept of recoding Dead Hard and Grabs was first discussed. Both were still running on P2P netcode instead of code optimised for Dedicated Servers, and for Grabs this remains the case. Essentially, what happens is:

    1) The killer sends a grab request to the server. The server double checks everything is all good, and sends the message back to the killer their grab is all clear for the moment, beginning the animation. At the same time, it sends a message to the survivor client to let them know they've been grabbed.

    2) The survivor client, however, has an inbuilt failsafe from P2P days, and upon receiving a grab request will perform this failsafe, which involves checking everyone's positions again- this time based off of I believe their client. The server waits to actually allow the killer the grab while this takes place, leading to the issue of your arm just sticking out into the middle of nowhere, and everything freezing as everything is ran through to see if a grab is okay or not.

    3) A lot of the time, the survivor client will reject the grab, as on their side the survivor is actually too far away now. The server receives this, and lets the killer client know the failsafe was activated and the grab has been cancelled.

Now, a fourth step occurs, which causes the killer to swing after receiving this request (although this wasn't always the case).

The same was true for Dead Hard without Validation, as all killer clients had a built-in failsafe perfect for P2P and not for Servers.

I hope this can help you understand how the grabs work a little more, at least until they get around to fully recoding it.

This explains why I'm grab-validated so goddamn often.

  • @Pizzaman said:

Thanks for taking the time to analyze this! @zarr

Given how salty people are regarding dead hard and pallet hit validation, doing it for every "hit" would probably cause an outcry (tbh. I would love to see it), but it would be fair. Currently, a lot of hits connect that just shouldn't, and yet, people think it's "skill", when very often it's just client-side hit registration advantage.

I'm still thinking: not everything in the DBD-P2P-age was bad. All you had to do, was to monitor the lobby ping for a couple of seconds to see if it's good (and leave if it's not). Dead hard was also working flawlessly.

PS: funny that such a core mechanic of the game is killer sided. Think about it.

    No-one's calling it "Skill", dude.

Most of the time it's after a survivor has vaulted a window for the 7th time on a Double T/L double window tile and we're breathing a sigh of relief and calling it "Lucky".

  • Why man? You couldn't find enough of these arguments on every single thread?

  • @GuyFawx said:

We really shouldnt give these types of players the honorable title of a hacker as they are never coding themselves or sifting through addresses to find a weakness. They are plain and simple just cheaters with no knowledge of what they are doing or how it works

I think Pig could really be improved with a simple buff:

Change her terror radius to 24 meters.

This way, with just Whispers, she could effectively use her stealth and it frees up a perk slot from having to use Monitor and Abuse to be able to do this.

    Sounds fair, right?

I'd be down. She's one of the weakest killers. This could only shake up the killer selection rates positively.

Since you clearly have troubles understanding forum rules, I will not encourage your threadcrapping by further replies. Now, feel free to type another (or a few) parrot reply providing more details about how you are upset and how you feel about me.

Well, this is only the second time you were done with me. You do you! Just know, if you push the false narratives again I'll be back :)

Fun fact: To test a D20 you'd probably have to throw it about 100 times to get some statistical significance. If you think I'm implying something about the multitude of variables in your test when compared against the clearly insufficient sample data, you'd be right.

I only had to go so far as until you stopped defending your faulty conclusion (If that's what you truly mean by your last response, I'm sure further posts will tell). I have a kink for not letting people get away with misinformation and bad-faith statistics :)

Determining that someone is upset when someone is acting like he is upset is not an insult. There are plenty of threads where people discuss how anything DBD related makes them feel. Feel free to create another one, but this thread is not about your feeling.

Please, just follow the forum rules. Do you have anything to add on topic other than discussing your feeling?

    • I never said I'm done with the thread. I said I'm done with entertaining your threadcrapping, for the simple reason that I respect forum rules:
    • "PLEASE AVOID POSTING THE FOLLOWING: Things that do not contribute to the discussion (e.g. baits, etc.)"
    • If you have anything to say on topic, we can continue indefinitely.
    • There is no predominant opinion. It's just your opinion about what is predominant. Anyway, back to the topic.

You failed to demonstrate any proof "shallow understanding of statistical significance." Feel free to post one after you familiarize yourself with the concept.

"You're throwing a lot of insults" - Am I? When? Are you able to stay on topic or are you going to get upset again and start feeling insulted?

    • You don't know what threadcrapping is, well, not if you truly believe that's what I'm doing. Anyone can count the opinions on the first two pages, whether or not you are able to. Yes, you are throwing a lot of insults, including assuming I'm upset, gollum references, and flat earther references. I don't know why you're trying so hard when it seems that you have little interest in anything beyond your own confirmation bias. The beauty of confirmation bias is you do not need our opinion to go on being wrong. You simply go on.
  • @tester said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2735868#Comment_2735868

Oh yes, you right on this one: I can preach statistical significance until the cows come home, but if you still have troubles understanding it, than the further conversation is pointless. Can't discuss science of statistics, or any other science as a matter of fact with flat earthers.

You can refer to yourself as 'we' all you want. It's just comical. But by all means, if you identify as a Gollum, enjoy it: “We like goblinses, batses and fishes. But we hasn’t tried Hobbitses before. Is it soft? Is it juicy?”

I will use we so long as the predominant opinion, again, as demonstrated by the other people who have chimed in to say the very same thing, is that you have a shallow understanding of statistical significance.

You're throwing a lot of insults for someone who was accusing me of being the upset one. Also, I thought you were done with this thread? :)

  • @tester said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2735831#Comment_2735831

You really need to reconsider calling yourself "We". I thought "statistically significant" was a simple concept. Apparently not for everyone. Oh well.

You did not play enough games to infer that your victories are attributable to MMR not working. You did not control enough variables. You did not demonstrate a solid enough understanding of even basic concepts like killers having individual MMRs. While almost all of us already know MMR is not working, because it's clearly valuing queue times as a more significant factor above all else, that does not make your data accurate or useful.

And by we, I mean you can look at the first two pages of this thread where several people point out these flaws, I'm trying not to rehash them in depth because if you didn't read them the first time then, well, you're not going to the second time around either.

We have to stop meeting like this :)

Edit: You can preach statistical significance until the cows come home, but just because you can broken record a false claim, doesn't mean 'we' are going to let you get away with it. 2 + 2 won't equal 5 just because I shouted it enough in the town square.

My data is not faulty. I explained what "statistically significant" means at least 3 times. It's not my problem if it makes you so upset. Enjoy the rest of your day.

And all we see is someone climbing the MMR ladder on several characters, without understanding or direction, or even enough data points to justify their confirmation bias.

Enjoy the rest of your day as well!

Look, I don't know why you are so upset, but further conversation with you would be against forum rules (see thread crapping part) as all you are doing is getting argumentative and personal, instead of address ng anything to the topic of discussion. Have a nice day and I'm sorry, but I don't have patience to explain simple things multiple times.

So long as you understand why your data is faulty so that you can do better the next time around, you can bow out anytime you like :) - Best of luck.

But he did prove in his video that it's possible to win almost every game. To which you replied that he "proved what we already knew", but then said that you didn't know it's possible to win almost every game with SBMM. So he did show something that you didn't know. Dude, it's obviously getting too hard for you to track your own thoughts. Just give it a rest until you sober up.

1 game as each killer does not a sample size make. I am not the first person to tell you that, it shouldn't have to be said again. I am also the very same person that had to correct you and point out that Otz does get steamrolled by survivors enough that most people can recall those matches. You know, except for you.

and again, I did not say: "but then said that you didn't know it's possible to win almost every game with SBMM" - I have no clue why you keep harping on this.

So again, I have no clue why you are so desperate to drive home fictitious points that you are arguing with yourself.

You didn't say "Otz proved what we already know."? Weird that I can scroll up and see that you said it. Okay, keep being upset and defensive if that's what you like.

I did not say that I knew its possible to win almost every game with SBMM.

Jesus dude, I'm not being defensive, you're having a conversation with you, yourself, and Irene.

You knew that it's possible to win almost every game with SBMM? Good for you. I didn't, because I actually believed when devs said that SBMM will eliminate that. I guess I was naive to trust them.

Another instance of that's not what I said, but if you're so desperate to argue with yourself, go for it.

There was some guy who recorded his win streak without any add on or perks on a Killer and posted in the forum. As you can guess people just pinpointed the low quality survivors out of his entire matches and discredited his entire streak and meme'd his topic title for a bit.

He did have some low quality survivors, but that wasn't my issue.

MMR is soft capped, Otz is always going to see SOME potatoes. The issue is he played 1 game with each killer. The outcomes are going to he inconsistent. Imagine playing deathslinger 100 games straight? Instead of the DC that snowballed him you're going to see the survivors who know how to W just demolish him.

Otz proved what we already know. A good killer is going to win some games, especially when they play as dirty as possible.

He said that he can do his "qualitative and quantitative scrutiny" based on 5 matches. I'm literally trying my hardest not to laugh aloud so I don't wake up my family. Pure comedy 🤣

Wierd, because that's not why I said. Again, why are you so desperate?

  • If you read the thread you'd see my answer to this.

He does steamroll every match when he plays to the maximum of his ability with sweaty builds. Watch his video. He had 3.85 kills average and not a single gate escape. If that is not steamroll, I don't know what its. Just to be clear: I wasn't talking about his regular streams, where he is being nice and tries not to tunnel and doesn't stack gen regression perks.

No, he does not. You are commentating on a very small sample size of games he recorded and analyzed. In several matches he got very lucky with a bunch of suiciding potatoes, and in a larger sample size those become the minority, not the norm. And does that mean you admit that one of the best killers in the game has to play incredibly sweaty or they're at risk of being steamrolled? I'm not sure why you're trying so hard to portray the realities of this game inaccurately. The point of having video data for a LARGE sample size is to be able to do qualitative and quantitative scrutiny, this isn't hard.

I don't really understand what you are saying. I've had the game for 2 years and MMR system was collecting data for month before it was turned on. I don't "rank up". I stay at the same rank all the time. Also, it's not even about me. Otz has been playing it like a job and you can't say that MMR doesn't have anough data on him. He steamrolls every match.

Well, now we understand where your issue is. You have a misinformed view of the game and streamers. Otz does not steamroll every match. He has multiple matches where survivors walk all over him.

No one would want to watch 100 matches. Besides, MMR is only evaluating deaths and escapes, so any other qualities are irrelevant.

The ability for people to survive, or for killers to secure kill, is entirely dependent on having redeemable qualities that lead to these outcomes.

How the hell did you respond to my comment while completely missing the point? I don't need to watch all 100 games, but I could certainly watch 5-10 and draw some conclusions about both the quality of the data gatherer, their opponents, and the efficacy of MMR.

    Yikes.
